The other thing about Chiyoh is how weird she is. The non-nonsense pragmatism she gets assigned in fanfic isn't exactly wrong, but I would also like to see the side of her that is fully capable of trading in bizarre and unwieldy metaphors. This is the woman who derails a conversational thread about Hannibal being in Italy to talk about how snails can survive digestion (a metaphor that Will immediately picks up on the intended meaning of - he's the one who supplies "in the belly of the beast"). She might be the only non-Hannigram character besides Bedelia who can reliably keep up with the way the two main characters converse. Not to mention the fact that she just accepts "Botticelli" as the reason Will knows Hannibal in Florence, and later reveals that she already knows that Hannibal is in Florence, because of, idk, vibes? To the man whose entire investigative technique this whole series has been primarily vibes-based. Like for all the resentment she feels towards Will at this point the train ride reveals that he actually speaks and thinks in much the same weird incomprehensible manner she does. And I bet she hates that.

This Song!

Omg legit cannot get it out of my head that this song MUST be in the next season of Bridgerton for so many reasons!

It's an absolute banger, legit this song would be so amazing for a dance scene between Colin and Penelope! The lead out, the soft start, the fast pace could be so gooddd like I'm just getting Daphne/Simon dance scene vibes from it. (My head canon for this song is unhinged right now) also I feel like this song is so fast paced that the cut scenes to other characters dancing and their stories feel natural

The name of the song itself references a Greek Myth that is also referenced in Hedwig and the angry inch (if you haven't listened to the origin of love by Neil Patrick Harris you are also missing out) but basically from what I remember, it says that all the way back when humanity first began that we all had four arms and four legs and two head (you get the idea) and Zeus was like 'fk you guys' and split is all in two and then Poseidon was like 'have a flood too' and pushed all of the other halves away from each other. The mythos being this; We spend our whole lives, looking for our other halves, trying to be whole and to say "call me by your name" is to say we are one, we are two halves together made whole, it means I see you, I love you, you complete me.

I just feel like this song is so Polin coded and I've always had this head canon that they will incorporate some Greek Mythology into the show from Colin's travel. I loved that little bit in the book where he waxed poetic about The birth of Venus (Painting by Sandro Botticelli) after seeing it and I'd dearly love if they incorporated just a little of that in the show.

I've never got some ppls obsession with actors having to look identical to the book characters?? I've encountered it in every book fandom I've been in - racism is a huge multiplying factor, though I've seen it happen to any actor who doesn't fit fans' precise image. When I was a teen a book I liked got an adaptation and fans were losing it when an actress was cast with *gasp* blue eyes instead of brown! I refuse to believe anyone who fixates on such trivial shit truly cares for the characters.

That is it, exactly, it's not about the character.

It's about the mental image. They feel betrayed by not getting what is in their heads (and of course, the inherent racism colors it really ugly at times.)

To be frank, a lot of the reaction to Lestat's... actions in this season has been along these lines as well, imho, bc. scenes were twisted and not used as expected (I remember the excitement when Sam dropped the cloud gift comment on the podcast, lol).

And the feeling of betrayal was immense for some.

For me, it's about the vibe (and skills, of course).

I was interested in IWTV because of Jacob, because I knew him from GoT and knew he could pull this off.

SAM on the other hand? He looked the part, right? But I was hissing and grimacing thinking about him being Lestat because... he's just a Chad ffs. Right? (And I wasn’t overly impressed by the first teasers) Those head shots... :)))) At least prior to seeing him as Lestat, ahem. And yeah, boy was I wrong, all kudos to Rolin.

Assad gives out alllllllll the right vibes in the role. 😈 As reblogged earlier he even looks the Botticelli part?! I have no sympathies or understanding for those screaming for looks only.

I vaguely remember there was "disappointment" in regards to Antonio Banderas' casting as well... but I mean, that was 1994, and it was a note in an article maybe, not this full on leashing out bull shit on social media. Edit: @cbrownjc pointed out the mentioned disappointment was more due to the wig… (😬😬😬 I have to say I liked it 😁)

I do hope that the casting of IWTV will continue to be so... bold. Focused on skills and vibe, instead of pure looks.

This is a selection of selfportraits from a series I made in 2011-2016. They're made with colour pencils on paper. In them I placed myself into various existing paintings and artworks. The series progresses from a fully finished drawing to the least finished drawing. The title of each work in the series is a female name (in lower case) and a body part. The body part in the title is always obscured in the image or not in the frame at all. Out of the fifteen portaits five are full body format, five are half figure and five are shoulders and up. Several of the works have very Mormon themes, and those are the ones I wanted to lift up here.

The name comes from the Latin term Agnus Dei, the Lamb of God. The painting inspiration is Zurbaran, specifically his Agnus Dei and his Saint Francis. The arms of the figure are obscured by the lamb she carries. It is ambiguous whether she is sacrificing the lamb or rescuing it. There is a possible indication of female priestesshood going on here. The background is a reference to an abstract artist whose name escapes me. I can't remember what I was going for there with the chalk on blackboard look - unfinished plans, maybe?

josephine (knees)

The name comes from Joseph Smith of course, and the main reference painting is of course that famous one of the First Vision. The other reference is this Renaissance trend of making religious paintings and inserting the donor of the painting into the scene. Like there are paintings of like Bible scenes like the crucifixion or Mary holding Baby Jesus and then some Renaissance guy in there too with them. So I put myself into the First Vision, like  a donor. The figure is reading while kneeling behind a little... prayer box thingy that was in the original painting too, with the knees obscured. The idea there is that by reading other people's accounts of their experiences (such as Joseph Smith's First Vision) is like being there.

maria (shoulder)

The name is obviously a reference to Virgin Mary and the painting reference is to like early Renaissance/late Middle Ages iconography. Shoulders are hidden from view on one side by the veil and on the other by the baby leaning on the shoulder.

anna (loins)

I must admit I can't remember what the name is in reference to. But the painting is Whistler's Mother. I've drawn myself in place of the old lady in the original, my late dog is on the floor, and on the wall is my temple sealing diploma. On the left there is a white cloth - a curtain or the veil? The vibe is temple-y: either waiting to pass through the veil or having done it.

eva (nose)

The name refers to Eve. The nudity and the lush jungle all around (borrowed from Rousseau) suggest it's pre-Fall. Nose is hidden from view by the flower she sniffs. Since Mormons have a pretty different view of Eve compared to other Christians, it's kind of focused on just who she was, rather than eating of the fruit or any of those central story beats.

sara (neck)

The name refers to Sarah, the wife of Abraham. This is the most unfinished drawing in the series. To me it's about exaltation (hence the crown) and not being reasy for it yet. This one is also the first one in the entire series, so it follows the system the least - for example it's not as such a remix of a particular painting, just inspired by Botticelli in general, like the hair, really.

Barbie Movie Horses Ranked, AKA: Jesus, I Forgot How Many Fucking Horses Their Are and I'm Still Probably Forgetting Some, Part 1

Coming to you in parts because Tumblr has a 10 image limit. Inspired by this post, but unlike it, not based soley on design. Role in the story will be factored in, as will the personally when present

5/10- Marzipan is the first in our long line of "horses that only exist so we can sell a carriage toy," but she has a name, and I Iike it, it fits into the sugar plum theme. Loses points for being weirdly skinny- girl's got to pull four people across an entire sea, she needs muscles!

Rapunzel, Botticelli

7/10- that's a good looking horse! I have no idea why he exists, I don't even think Rapunzel has a carriage set, but I like his name and his design is a significant improvement on Marzipan's

Swan Lake, Lila

10/10- lesbian icon!!! We love an idiot who gets stuck on every bush she passes but also manages to find the savior of her kingdom based solely on vibes. Loved her spunk as a kid and I still do

Princess and the Pauper, Hervé and other

9/10- listen I don't know why I love Hervé so much, but I do. He's always been one of my favorite Barbie animal companions and while his face design is weirdly off putting, I find it charming anyway. The other horse looks fine but I hate her headgear

10/10- lesbian icon 2! She looks great, a well rounded face and the most realistic looking body of a girl horse so far, not making any part of her look too skinny to function well as a horse. I love her tiara and it's so fun that it plays a role on the story. All this said, girl we have got to get you a therapist, how are you fine after being a horse for at least 16 years?

7/10- pretty good for our first pony. I know there's more horses in this movie, but they all share either Brietta's design or this one. The sunset colors are cute on the ponies and overall they honestly look better than the Kellys

MJ Describe Vs Clip-Interrogator 2.1

Describe and Clip Interrogator are both AIs that examine pictures and break them down into image prompts. The two approach the task from different intents, however, and using them is the best way to demonstrate. We'll start with "Natural Beauty", a style transfer piece I made a bit over a year ago.

To be extra-studious, I'll use the same seed on all of them, all gens made in Midjourney V5.

Clip Interrogator:

Prompt: a large tiger standing on top of a lush green field, inspired by Augustin Meinrad Bächtiger, deviantart contest winner, sumatraism, colorful intricate masterpiece, in a style blend of botticelli, highly detailed generative art, stained glass art, vibrant cartoon art, mountain, walk, 7 0 mm. digital art, much detail, devainart

Lengthy, detailed, prompt, with results that are kinda in the vibe. A few almost seem like they're made of fruit and plants like the original.

Midjourney Describe:

Describe gives four prompts per "ask" and re-rolls them (while Clip Interrogator seems to use a single seed).

Prompt: tiger is walking around through a forest in a colorful drawing, in the style of intricate textures, vibrant cartoonish --ar 3:2

From the results, you can see the difference. Clip Interrogator is, arguably, closest in style and tone to the original. Midjourney's results have more "chaos" in them, and are clearly intended to be more for iterating new semi-related variants of a concept rather than imitating directly, which keeps with the specific design of a lot of MJ's features.

The images autogenerated for this post are in the public domain, as they do not meet the threshold for minimum human expression. I've put them all in their own post here.

Le patate giustamente meritano una riga tutta per loro. Anyway!

Movie: Portrait of a lady on fire, directed by Celine Sciamma. A painting made movie. Very gay, which is always nice.

Hobby: painting/drawing and art in general, or at least I try

Animal: just one?? Corvids always cheer me up, even if it hurts to put aside my beloved sea animals (whales, seals etc). And snakes, as a child I definitely was the reptilian equivalent of an horse girl.

Character: Stephen Black from Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell - one of my favourite male characters from one of my favourite books. A book with huge Autumn vibes imho, that's why I picked it.

Colour: I don't even know its proper name. Dark seagreen? Phtalo green? Love it anyway.

Place: Venice, the city of water. I have a lot of fond memories... I also couldn't find a decent photo of my trip to Ireland, so Venice will do :P

Season: Spring, all about new beginnings - I like that. Plus, the beautiful Botticelli's painting.

Album: Storia di un impiegato, by the Italian songwriter Fabrizio De André. I dislike only one song (al ballo mascherato, annoying) and overall the story and themes are really complex and fascinating. It's kind of a fixed point for different stages of my life. Ma è un LP decisamente ✨problematico✨ per questo sito lol

Food: potatoes are one of the supreme comfort foods and are extremely versatile, although it was a though choice between them and pumpkins. I avoided thinking of more complex dishes because I would have never been able to pick just one lol

If you and your characters love art, Florence is an amazing city.

Its art, history and architecture are extraordinary. The Uffizi Gallery (Galleria degli Uffizi) is an absolute must if you love Renaissance. A great way to admire Botticelli, Raffaello, Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci and Tiziano's art, in one museum.

Moreover, you can walk around Cathedral Square (Piazza del Duomo), where you can see the Cathedral built by Brunelleschi, Giotto's Campanile and the Baptistery, and Piazza della Signoria, where you can find Palazzo Vecchio, David by Michelangelo and Loggia dei Lanzi, and admire their masterpieces for free. 🏛️

You could also visit the Boboli Gardens, where you can enjoy the Italian garden style, created by the Medici family, that became a model for many European courts.

And a night at the theatre could be a great idea for a date! At Teatro Verdi, for example, there's plenty of different shows!

Obviously, these are just some ideas.

By the way, if i have to be honest, i love Florence, and i always gaze in awe at the beauty of its monuments ...but it's also a little chaotic for my taste. Sooo, maybe for a romantic getaway I would choose something else. (It depends on what you like!)

For something more adventurous, what about Grotta del Vento? It's a beautiful system of caves in the Apuan Alps (Garfagnana), with stalactites and stalagmites. Its karst environment is unique and fascinating. 🦇

I adore walking along the old city walls (you can go there by bike too!): a panoramic walkway overlooking the city that conceals secret passages, hideaways and ramparts. Their secular trees make the view magic in every season. In autumn, foliage is beautiful! 🍂

If you and your characters love the sea and the story is set in summer, you could take into consideration a mini cruise in the Tuscan Archipelago. In one or two days, you can explore some of its islands, like Giglio, Elba, Giannutri. Swimming there is beautiful. If you don't like the idea of spending time on a boat, the coasts of Monte Argentario are wonderful too! 🌊

There could be less activities than in bigger cities, but I think you could also go for a romantic getaway in one (or more) of our hill towns. Great view, amazing food, and an enchanting experience! And it feels more intimate than in the main cities. Monteriggioni, Cortona, Pienza, San Gimignano, Volterra... The atmosphere is so poetic...And you can spend some time in the surrounding countryside, idyllic!

For a lovey-dovey day, you could write about a day at the thermal springs! There's plenty of thermal baths in Tuscany, and there are usually hotels and spas where you can have lunch, sleep, have a couples massage and enjoy the hot springs. Rapolano, Sassetta, Sorano, Montecatini,... In Tuscany you can find lots of thermal springs, so you could also have a day at the thermal baths and one in a nearby town.

Wherever your characters go, I think food play a big role if you want them to enjoy their Tuscan trip to the full.

Pasta is always delicious. There are lots of different types of pasta, for example pici and pappardelle (long pasta), tortelli (filled pasta, the filling depending on where you are: for example in Maremma they are filled with ricotta and spinach, in Mugello they are filled with potatoes), topini (small lumps of dough made with potatoes, flour and eggs). Pasta is our first course, in Italy it's not served as a side dish for meat or fish.

(Warning: I'm going to talk about meat dishes. If this makes you uncomfortable, skip until 🌱)

Pasta may be served with ragù (Bolognese sauce, a meat-based sauce), ragù and aglione (aglione is a delicate type of garlic), melted butter and sage, mushrooms, or tomato sauce. 🍝

Before pasta, as an appetizer, you may have cured meats (salame, prosciutto, finocchiona, lardo di Colonnata,...), cheese (various types of pecorino), coccoli (lumps of fried dough) and crostini (slices of bread served with ragù, mushrooms, fegatini which is a sauce made of chicken liver, or other sauces...).

I don't live by the sea, so i know meat dishes better 😅 As second course, a Bistecca alla Fiorentina or a Tagliata di Manzo (beefsteaks - rare is the perfect way to have them but i get it that it's not to everyone's taste) may be perfect. 🥩

(I also enjoy pizza so much, and you can eat it everywhere in Tuscany, but the foods i've written about are more traditional)

If your characters enjoy drinking, Tuscany is famous for its wines (like Chianti Classico, Morellino di Scansano, Vernaccia di San Gimignano, Brunello di Montalcino, Bolgheri Sassicaia). Desserts go well with vinsanto (a dessert wine). 🍷

For dessert, you might go for cantuccini (almond biscuits) with vinsanto (we dip them in the wine). If the story is set during Christmas holidays, ricciarelli (almond and sugar biscuits) and panforte (a dessert with almonds and candied fruits) are some of our traditional desserts.

You may have coffee after the dessert. And, after generous meals, ammazzacaffè (a small glass of liqueur) too. General recommendation for your characters (and for tourists visiting Italy): it's better not to ask for a cappuccino during lunch or dinner (please 🩷)!

There was Rex, as he moved into his apartment within his home area of Delta Bay. And along the way, he met a 'real happenin' party and pro-wrestling promoter by the moniker of Capybara Joe, on account of he was a humanoid who strongly resembled and exuded the calming effect of his namesake, as well as his best pal, a little tortoise jock everyone called Botticelli.

But this time, the tale takes us to a friend of a friend, in Joe and Botti's other friend. One who helped them out during a great disaster: Abalone Jones.

Now, Abalone was a magical girl. One who specifically enjoyed snails, as well as flies and fungus. Things that didn't usually vibe well when trying to form a friend group at school, and even less so when trying to make it in the superheroing scene, industrious as the once-community had become. But the neighborhood from which Rex, Joe, and Botticelli hailed warmed up to her, since they were pretty outlandish too.

One fine night, Joe had suggested a disco theme for a soiree he had in mind to lift everyone's spirits. But midway in, their disco ball was totaled during an ill-timed quake (and further shakes caused by Rex and friends jumping into a nearby fray). Once the action was all said and done, everyone nearly went home until Abalone pulled out her magic wand-- gifted to her by an old crone from a Florida swamp bog, and summoned a funky gastropod with a shell glittery enough to light up the dance floor.

The night was saved for certain! All thanks to her.
