to begin, Russia and America have more than 300+ indigenous cultures and languages within their regions. I do not aim to represent them as a monolith nor do my hcs aim to define a solitary native culture as their respective identities. seeing as they are a personification of their countries, I see them as an amalgamation of each culture's traditions.

working off the last post where I reference them speaking Diné and Koryak:

they began speaking these languages to each other in the early 1800s because of how close they were growing as friends. seriously, Fort Ross (aka Metini as named by the Pomo indigenous people of the region) was a Russian settlement established in California that existed to trade only with Americans. Alfred and Ivan used this settlement to get to know each other better and truly appreciate their indigenous identity over the revered status of their caucasian colonial overseers (Fort Ross was actually funded by an imperialist company so pls assume cultural diffusion is the only good thing they did; I only ref it as a point in history that connects their indigeneity as Siberian, Alaskan, and American natives all passed through this fort). It started off as a means to better interact with each other's people but then they began communicating exclusively with each other,,, and then it became more intimate,, y'know.

they would often hunt together (and al absolutely knocked it outta the park) but ivan would help him with preparing fur pelts (as koryaki or aleut/inuk culture exceeded at making coats and it was the largest trade in FR).

Native American and Siberian and Inuit/Inuk peoples in early history were IN LOVE with astronomy (and i'd say the pioneers of astronomy as a science)! this is where both Ame and Rus acquired their appreciation for space, and of course, the number one thing they geek tf out about together. space is not simply their hyper-fixation, but a part of everything they do. they plan ceremonies in kamchatka by the arrangement of the stars (specifically the Pleiades, or aka sakiattiak (Inuit) or coyote's daughters (Paiute)) because it is the origin of indigenous life. they camp out in chaco canyon at every equinox to stargaze.

they don't stay 'I love you' to each other. however, they do cook each other the most elaborate and appreciative meals: venison with cowberry sauce, smoked omul, cajun salmon, frybread (NAVAJO TACOS 4EVER) w all sorts of toppings, and BEEF JERKY! they prepare the best beef jerky in the whole darn tootin world!!!

Ivan is the singer in this boy band and Alfred is the dancer (and drummer tbh). Ivan is downright gifted in throat singing and could perform the dance of the seagulls with one stoli bottle and half a bar of alenka chocolate in his system. alfred can belt out while drumming, there's no doubt-- but I can tell you right now that he is DEADLY with his men's traditional dance. tbh, he wins 1000+ seduction points with Ivan when he dances lol

THEY CREATE FOR EACH OTHER. when they hunt, they use every bone in that sacred creature's body to make each other charms, knives, bracelets, rings, little beads for beaded jewelry--

AND BOY DO THEY BEAD!! ivan's regalia is comprised of reindeer skin and beads, and al will go 40 hrs straight sewing them on for him as well as making his headbands and jingle bells (he's a pattern whizz). al is more of a boujee native, so Ivan freaking obliges him so much that he will bead the most beautiful earrings, chains and medallions you have ever seen (he is a design whizz-- also alfred begged him for one with the vegas knights to brag to his bro about cause STANLEY CUP RAAAAH!!)

People discover different ways of life through traveling; cities can be pedestrian-friendly, rural, modernized, heavily influenced by their local culture, etc. Traveling to other cities gives me a new perspective on how people move through life and how I would want to go through mine. As a native Miamian, I love my city and, at the same time, have conflicts with it. We heavily rely on cars, air conditioning, and looking “bad and boujee.”

I made plaster casts of an air conditioning unit and my car floor mats to highlight what my city is dependent on and laid them on a strip of plaster chips to give it an unfinished look and resemble sand at the beach. I then overlaid seven videos of Miami (a combination of videos I took and found). I played them simultaneously in a continuous loop to reflect upon the consistent movement of traffic and people we have. I intentionally made visible the technology used to project onto the plaster positives and a mess of plaster chips to contradict the facade of Miami’s beauty.

Just got a preview of some of the group photos that the Indigenous Students' Union took a few weeks ago. I currently serve as the president, and we oversee over 4000 indigenous (first nations, metis, and inuit) students at the University. They're low-quality rn but like I said, we got the preview today. Omg these are amazing. My councilors make me so proud because they all have their skill set and I just get so inspired by the work that they do. We are missing one councilor as she's an off campus student (who does classes online and in the north), and she oversees our social media's, branding, and is finishing our logo. I'm so proud of my team, and we look so badass ✊🏽✨️🧡

Community. Advocacy. Legitimacy (ratifying as a union and recognized by the university at the sentate) are all the things we represent and are striving for.

I am wearing earrings by Indicity and they are different indigenous plant medicines. Also they are so extra and boujee native 😁💗

Rage 2’s production is almost uniformly excellent, poppy and full of air, but with sinister undercurrents when Uzi summons something darker. “444+222,” never finds its footing or has much to say, but at least keeps the listener on his or her toes long enough for Ike Beatz and Maaly Raw’s beat to make its imprint.

The perpetual churn of style and song structure can be a strength, or at the very least helps cover up songwriting that can tend toward formlessness. He’s chaotically animated, flitting between short staccato runs and heartfelt singing, punctuated by yelps and bug-eyed ad-libs. The plunges into Uzi’s psyche are mirrored by his delivery. “Pretty Mami” is a desperate missive from a tour bus the excellent song about his mother, “Dark Queen,” sounds less like an ode to a parent than a supernatural reckoning. Over and over again, Uzi careens past the edge of convention or good social form. Uzi opens with a brief introduction to the other half of his failed relationship, punctuated with, “I like that girl too much, I wish I never met her.” From there, he launches into a full interpolation of the first verse from Oh Wonder’s “Landslide”: “I know it hurts sometimes, but you’ll get over it/You’ll find another life to live.” Uzi’s less interested in the granular drama of the breakup than in the fallout, the moment three or four days later when reality starts to set in. Take “The Way Life Goes,” which is produced by Don Cannon and Ike Beatz. It’s the Philadelphia native’s most musically developed work and features a bulk of his most interesting songs to date. At its best, the album mines the psyches of exhausted and exhausting people, searching for the moment where enough drugs or heartbreak or iMessages or sleep deprivation can unlock a new part of the brain. Lofty as that is, Luv Is Rage 2 comes very close to delivering. The goal isn’t a streaming figure or a chart position, but a feeling. And yet in some small way, Uzi’s long-awaited Luv Is Rage 2 is a referendum on whether he can live up to the standard “XO Tour Llif3” set. He’s proven himself a popular force with solo cuts like “Money Longer” and guest turns on Migos’ “Bad and Boujee” and Playboi Carti’s “ Woke Up Like This” dozens, hundreds of imitators across digital mixtape platforms cite him as a major creative influence, or at least a welcome distillation of whatever’s happening in and around the Atlanta scene. But Uzi has been an ascendant star for at least a year and a half: from promising rookie to SoundCloud darling to rap’s A-list and beyond. Which is fine, because artists have been plagued by hits with just a fraction of the pathos “XO Tour Llif3” has. It will probably define Lil Uzi Vert for the rest of his career. 7 on Billboard, Platinum three times over-don’t come close to capturing the depth with which people feel the song.

The “I don’t really care if you cry” taunt that shouldn’t be believed melting into “All my friends are dead/Push me to the edge” is a stretch of masterful songwriting, but withering in a way that few artists could mimic without tipping into self-parody.
