I was talking about it to friends last night so uhhhh jacktash meta for sillies!

Jack and Gortash have a kind of antagonistic relationship at the start. Gortash wants to control him, and Jack resents being controlled. Gortash learns how to push Jack's buttons and goad him into a reaction. Jack gets flustered and frustrated by his this mortal cretin manages to get under his skin so easily.

They do become less antagonistic as time passes, but their relationship is kind of a strange one. I think saying it's love isn't really accurate (though Jack would say that yes, he's in love with Enver), but something close to it. They do care about one another, but they're so deeply damaged by their respective upbringing that it's impossible to express that in a healthy way.

In effect, Gortash kind of views Jack as this dangerous creature that he wants to control and dominate, and he tends to express that in physical ways: grabbing Jack's chin to tilt his head up, guiding him by the small of his back or his arm. Physical, but subtle gestures of control and ownership.

Jack wants to believe he is above letting anyone have power over him, but he's also so desperate for affection and approval that he's willing to surrender himself. He resents Gortash for treating him like a trophy but also deeply desires recognition from him.

They try to make each other better, but they really only kind of enable each other's worst impulses.

I've been that person for my brothers and it's a mix of patience and love. You're sharing a thing you love with someone, but in the weirdest way, like you're doing things to show off for the approval of a child who thinks that you're the coolest person for being able to do a certain combo or complete a hard level. To you? It's not that hard, anyone can do it, it's not like you're a professional. But to them? You're an expert, the master at the top of the mountain.
