Okay another thing I'm gonna share is that Brendan and I talked about how the N-1 is Din's mid-life crisis sports car and now that he's a dad, he needs a mini-van like the Razor Crest again
To me, the way people are treating Pedro Pascal for ''just doing the voice'' is sadly a good example of how voice actors are being treated in general. Now, repeat after me kids:
VOICE ACTING IS ACTING! VOICE ACTING IS HARD!
People seem to forget how difficult it is to act without your body, even more without your face. Voice acting is nothing like physical acting; it's not for nothing that many great movie actors turn out to be terrible voice actors. For Pedro to be able to do both with such mastery is truly impressive, and respectable. To diminish his work as much just because he isn't the main body standing in that suit is so ignorant. I love Brendan's work on Mando, and still I can say quite confidently that he wouldn't be able to infuse that same sensibility and uniqueness to the character that Pedro does. Just like Pedro couldn't have made Din's signature walk. It's not for nothing that he was hand-picked for the role, after all.
I'm gonna end this with a quote (from Wayne himself, if my memory is right) that I read and love for how well, in my opinion, it sums up the heart of their creative collaboration:
''Brendan Wayne is the Mandalorian, Pedro Pascal is Din Djarin.''
"This next episode is gonna make you wish you hadn't asked for [another episode]," actor Brendan Wayne, the in-suit double for Din, wrote in a cryptic Instagram story. "It might just hurt too much."
Ahead of the season 3 finale, The Mandalorian executive producer Dave Filoni has said that fans will "have a lot to think about" after the Rick Famuyiwa-directed "Chapter 24" concludes on April 19th.
"They'll have a lot to take in, and I think with any good ending there's the moment you're in it when you're cheering and you feel satisfied, but then there's a little bit after that where you think back at all the things that happened," Filoni, who wrote "The Spies," told Collider. "Maybe you start to put them together in a different way and you realize it's an ending, but there are other things happening out there in the galaxy that now you know more about."
Brendan Wayne and Lateef Crowder actually listed in the main actor credits? Hell yeah!
As much as I wish Pedro was able to be in the suit more, I’m really glad that Brendan and Lateef are getting the credit they’re due. Stunt actors and doubles really need more recognition in the industry, they’re so important. And I’m really, really glad that Pedro is so vocal and transparent about the collaboration between the three of them in playing Din (there are plenty of big name actors who have not been and would not be so gracious).
I have no idea who’s going to be physically playing Din in which episodes and for what parts* and frankly I don’t really want or need to know because it breaks my immersion in the story to sit there trying to parse out which actor is in the suit. It’s Din Djarin in the suit, that’s all I need to know. The fact that Pedro, Brendan, and Lateef are working together to seamlessly portray one character is actually extremely impressive and cool. As long as they’re all happy working as a team and all getting the credit they deserve for the work, I’m good.
*I mean, I HAVE thought about it and have come to terms with the fact that Pedro is likely not PHYSICALLY in this season of “The Mandalorian” very much due to the first season of “The Last of Us” having an insanely long shooting schedule very far away from LA. I’m just glad he didn’t have to choose between the two shows and that Lateef and Brendan are getting the recognition they deserve for picking up the slack. There are perks to keeping your main character behind a mask all the time.
And where are my Boba boys and girls? We got something too, I'm regaining hope, after all he'll always be my space husband. Even if Bo managed to get over his absence.
After today’s panel, I don’t want to hear a word more of the Brendan/Lateef slander. There are three men who work their asses off playing Din Djarin and they all have love for one another.
