any time I think about these two exchanges I get uncontrollably angry thinking about what we could have had if Dan Didio and the rest of DC editorial during the New 52 era hadn't been so ridiculously awful
"Babs couldn't wear glasses," "Babs can't be a librarian," "Oracle can't be mentioned in ANY context" I hate them. I hate them so much. The Killing Joke can remain canon and be REPEATEDLY focused on but Barbara Gordon can't be a librarian or be recognized as a disabled character in literally any way. What a joke.

Love, love, LOVE the 2015 Black Canary run. The way the music comes alive with the art, and the seamless move into and out of conflict keeps the energy high. Definitely one of the best drawn DC books from the past decade, imo, and it's complimented so well by the mystery and heart in the writing.

Book Review #111 of 2022--
Isola Vol. 2 by Brenden Fletcher. Rating: 3 stars.
Read on September 27th.
I’m going to keep this review short because this is a second in a series, but also simply because this was such a short comic. I know it’s 144 pages, but there’s so little text in these comics that it goes by so fast. It took me less than half an hour to read this whole thing. Which is good in one sense. I like being able to read something so quickly and so easily. But at the same time I struggle because I wish there was more to it. Conceptually, this is a hearty story. But in what is actually given to the reader it’s not. There are gaps in knowledge or gaps in what’s actually shown in the story. And this doesn’t feel like it’s left off in a place that makes sense. There are a ton more questions than answers and it feels like a cliffhanger. I have no idea if they’re planning to actually write more, but it feels necessary.
