Blessed Imbolc, my sweet starlings! 🍃
Today we are reminded that even in the darkest coldest times, we will find the light again and feel its warmth once more. ☀️
Special shout-out to Brigid for being my guiding light and helping me locate my own eternal flame. You’re the fire I’ve been searching for. Today I honor you and thank you for welcoming me completely into your coven. 🔥
Id love to know how you all are celebrating if you are. But regardless I hope you all have a lovely day! 💚🧡

I am Here: A Message from Brigid
“You may be blind to my face And deaf to my voice, But know this, my child, I am here, I am here. When your world seems As though it is crumbling, My hands are on your shoulders, Holding you steady and upright Because I will not let you fall. When you feel cold and alone, Without a soul to care, Know that I have placed you by my fires To warm your frigid bones Because I will not let you freeze. When you feel like everything You do is not good enough, I am whispering sweet praise For you are perfect as you are And I will not let you think otherwise. When you are shaking with pain And you hurt too much to move, Know that I am down on my knees, Tending to your wounds, Because I will not let you suffer. You may be blind to my face And deaf to my voice, But know this, my child, I am here, I am here.”

Dedicate a piece of craft to Brigid. It could be origami, crocheted, knitted or even metal work if that is your area of interest. You can even dedicate a recipe that you've created. It could be anything. If it is made with love, it'll please Brigid.

A Prayer to Keep Ones Chill
Brigid, bank my fires. Smother the flames that harm instead of help. Cool my temper with the waters of your well. Wash away frustrations. Wrap me in your mantle and bring me back to center.

Days Of Future Past w/ Jess: Celtic Gods - Brigid
Today  I talk about the Celtic goddess, Brigid. One of the most popular deities from Celtic Mythology. She is a complex goddesses with many titles and responsibilities and was so popular, she ended up becoming a Christian saint.

Got my altar to Brigid started in my kitchen. Brigid is the first goddess I ever started working with as a teen and no matter where I have gone or what I have done, she’s always been right there waiting for me as if no time has passed.
Brigid is an Irish triple goddess known as a hearth deity. That is, she is well known for matters closely related to the home and family. She is also a goddess associated with liminal spaces (Saint Brigid is said to have been born in the doorway right between the front of her home and outside), fire (think hearth fire), healing, poetry, and teas.
As I’ve started this project of redoing my kitchen to deal with the grief of losing my friend, and am getting back into cooking more after a long severe bought of depression, I wanted her to have an altar in my kitchen and a friend gave me the perfect shelves. I’m going to put up the statue that I have pictured here and a few other things, but I’m happy to have it up and started. Incidentally, the wooden figure in the middle is actually a hand carved candle holder that I got from the same friend for Christmas last year. As I have not yet found a candle that quite fits, I thought it would make a lovely offering bowl. I also put up my mortar and pestle and two of my favorite tea ingredients: lavender and mugwort. I can’t wait to see what else I find to put up.

The May Queen at this year’s @beltanefiresociety’s Fire Festival has chosen a medieval science and solar theme to align with her interpretation of the goddess Brigid. So as a hinge-point of this year’s festivities, of course I couldn’t wait to join in! 🌞 With some bizarre luck though, I managed to source a small Nepalese-Italian business based in Paisley, Renfrewshire - just a mere 25 minutes away from where I live - that was selling the exact pendants I needed this week. Scroll to see how I turned these beauties into a pair of enchanting earrings. 🌞 Thank you @akuaduulza_art for sending these vibrant faces my way. 🙏🏻

Paintings I made as offerings to Brigid and Cernunnos - the two deities I follow. I hope they like them 🥰 made with acrylic, water colour, & ink. Water was moon water I made with the intention of these paintings. Will display them on my altar for a while and then move them to my wall with other dedications.

I was instructed by Brigid to learn more about my Irish heritage so I’ll be reading this book as well as taking some courses over on The Irish Pagan School. 🥰
I might also try and post a little more about Brigid, the Irish pantheon, and any neat info I come across. 😊👍🏻

Keeper of the Flame
Lady Brigid, O’ Divine Keeper of the Flame, Goddess of the Hearth, Hear my prayer as I hail your name! May your warmth Spread through my home Like the scent of fresh baked bread; May your eternal light Shine bright in every dark corner And illuminate the truth. Ignite within us a flame of inspiration And allow us to create in your name! Grant us your healing touch, Let it tend to our injuries And cure us of our pain and sorrows; Grant us the comforting embrace Of a Mother's love and passion And may it reflect in my own actions!

been doing a lot of big-picture work with this ancestor who showed up again around spring equinox. the theme's very much been spiritual stretching, an incredibly direct mentor-challenge to flex my magical and divinatory muscles – The Moon, Death, Judgement, The Lovers are popping up a lot – with a backdrop of real-life tragedy/family bereavement/reconnection with childhood space that's making #profound work hit really hard and necessary right now.
that said, I feel like I've needed to put my (proverbial and literal house in order a bit in the lead-up to the big magical overflow that is Beltane? so trying to do some specific, practical, less-than-Finding-Myself stuff – tying loose ends, firming up uses/associations with the magical tools I've been using recently, drawing out a more detailed personal spiritual calendar, boosting some protection just to cross all my Ts, designing spells with a v Material TM focus and desired outcome.
tonight was very the latter and felt like the right thing to be doing right now, with spring making the woods feel charged and pulsing and mysterious. I did a big devotional coven walk across the dark hilltops topping up offerings across the magical topography of our local green space; we drew old-new routes through bursting hawthorn froth, heaving willow bulks, and full-leaved shadows and the neighbours felt real close.
when I got home I brewed gorse, fireweed, and pine-honey tea for Brigid asking for help and clarity with a big decision I'm probably going to make this week (re: rescuing a dog, hence asking for some domestic animals-related expertise). it's the culmination of work we've done together since Imbolc and felt like a good top-off to the day. trying to watch my energy with the family death still completely fresh, but honestly I'm down with getting this level of weird all the way up to Beltane.

A commission of Brigid for @bloodtreachery (awww, it was SUCH a pleasure to do it!). I put an emphasis on her aspect as a poet, hence the fire of poetry ablaze! The poem in the flames is a liberal translation of these lines from The Hosting of the Sidhe into Old Irish (courtesy of my wonderful husband):
...if any gaze on our rushing band, We come between him and the deed of his hand, We come between him and the hope of his heart.

How I perceive different deities' energies
(based on personal experiences)
Apollon ☀️: Light coming up from somewhere deep in the gut. An ache that almost burns. And it might if I stare too long. Swelling gold. A chorus of music too perfect to be written, words that could shatter my tongue if I tried to speak them.
Brigid 🔥: A lump at the back of my throat. Tears in my eyes while I smile. Joy and grief mixed together under my ribcage. Melodies sung through the ages, and through tears. Warmth at my back and a hand on my cheek. Baked bread. Garden herbs. Clear water from a well. An embrace that could last an age.
Nyx 🌌: The low, echoing hum of something eternal. Something too ancient to comprehend and too overwhelming to be perceived. Endless. Ethereal. Peace and chaos. Quiet and thunderous. Coffee. Red wine. Onyx.
The Morrigan 🐦‍⬛: A chant of words I can't understand, spoken in a language I never knew and never forgot. The cold steel of a blade's edge. Sharp, precise, and unwavering. Her language of secrets and ancient knowledge could swallow you whole if you let it.
Hekate 🗝: Whispers. Shadows against candlelight. A flickering flame that knows how to dance in the wind and never extinguish. The smell of old parchment and herbs. A ripple on the water. As intricate and mesmerizing as a spider's web. Silent and sharp like a viper. A bark and a growl heard from somewhere too far away for me to see.
Aine 🧚🏼‍♀️: Sunlight breaking over the surface of a river. Citrus. Wildflowers. Fresh grass. Wind sweeping over a meadow. Chimes. Fruit trees finally coming into bloom. The juice from an apple trickling down my neck. Laughter. So much laughter.
Aphrodite ❤️: Flower petals. Something sweet and soft like honey that trickles down the back of my throat and seeps into my belly. It spreads all through me like starlight trapped in my veins. Bells. Bliss. A want that could dissolve me. A yearning that would hurt if it didn't taste so lovely. The pain feels like a lifetime away.
Tiamat 🐉: Clusters of stars. Endless reflections of light on the water's surface. The deep song of a whale that echoes through the pulse of the sea. An eye that gazes down from the cosmos.
Caer Ibormeith 🦢: A lullaby that has been with me for longer than I know. A kiss pressed to my forehead. That place between sleeping and awake, between real and not. Cool air at twilight. Dew on the glass before sunrise. Clean fabric. A veil. Flying over the world as it sleeps.
Artemis 🦌: Freedom. Breath-taking, devastating freedom. A stag drinking fresh water from a spring. A doe and her fawn, sleeping as the songbirds chirp at dawn. A rush. An absolute rush like mountain air in my blood. Fireflies in an open field. Bones bleaching in the sun. The thrill of a wolf pack chasing its prey. The moon over the ocean at night. Teeth. Bird calls. Wildflowers. A great bear that walks in the stars. Hymns only beasts can sing. Jasmine and animal fur and the midnight air.

I been getting into Sigils and art magic 💙🦌 and into developing my own personal method for creating magic Sigils.
As a starting point, I decided to develop some sigils to correspond to Bríd and The Mórrigán the two deities I've been exploring most, as devotional pieces. The upper Sigil is for Bríd and the lower for The Mórrigán. Each is made based on the name of the Goddess using a modified version of the Austin Osman Spare method in combination with celtic artistic motifs and stylings.
Tumblr media
These two I made while practicing the process 💙💙 The smaller of the two is a simple general protection Sigil. The larger is a banishment of transphobia 🏳️‍⚧️
I'm really happy with how these came out, though I do still wanna work on the Mórrigáns Sigil.
Anyone else developing their own Sigil craft?
