Who wants a Brimfield Haul Post? (She said rhetorically)

For anyone who doesn’t know, the Brimfield antiques fair is a thrice – per – year event in Brimfield, Massachusetts, USA Where tons of antique dealers set up over like 25 massive fields for five days. It’s amazing, and also a bit nuts, and I try to make it to every one if possible. I hit up the September iteration on Wednesday, and here are my treasures:

Meet Lily! A tiny doll head made by the Simon and Halbig firm c. 1890-1920 (model 1160). Her wig was probably cut by one of her previous owners, not like that originally, so I plan to get her a new one. I sort of like her with short hair, though- perhaps she’s going to be a fashionable Regency lady instead of depicting her actual era. There’s no helping those bangs, though, so I’m going to have to change it up entirely.

GOTH-ASS HAT. Probably circa 1870s – 80s. I’m going to have to play around with it to get the balance with my hairstyle right, but I have high hopes. Especially a huge fan of the little sparkly butterfly detail. (not just for Crimson Peak reasons – butterflies are something of a family symbol for me).

This cape. Guys. This c a p e. Silk-velvet with gold braid designs. I CANNOT. The lining has some holes, and maybe synthetic/replaced anyway, but I can fix that. Oh, and did I mention I got it for $40?!

(capes and cloaks can be very hard to date, but I would bet it’s not later than the 1920s. And more likely earlier)

Antiquing Adventures 2 - Hollywood Glam

Next on the list is my Hollywood Regency stuff. Crystals, brass, marble, color, ohhh I love it soo much!!! These are some of the recent pieces that I added to my collection:

This is an Indiana glass bowl - soon, I'm going to have a complete set with candle holders, a candy bowl, and this beautiful centerpiece. Will post more pics once the other pieces arrive.

This babe here is also Indiana glass - it's a candy dish. I just love the amber glass and the smoke colored crystals - it is so unique and beautiful! This will go to my office room but I don't have the slightest idea about what to do with it... Idk, will figure it out.

Last but not least - my gorgeous lamp!!! It was not in the best condition when I first got it. After some cleaning and a new shade ( I have to admit, I'm not a fan of the lampshade), it looks much better now. Again, another item that hasn't found its place yet. Gotta find an end table that is sturdy enough to carry the lamp - it is quite heavy!

Antiquing Adventures - Bring out the good china!!!

Well, it's been a while since I posted anything about my latest finds... I went to Brimfield last week - it is the biggest antiquing event in the New England area. Didn't get to find much, unfortunately... I think I'm becoming too picky and hard to impress. I'm trying to find items that come as a set or go with a certain era that will complement the things that I already have. Recently, I've been trying to educate myself about good quality porcelain - there's so much to look for! Here's one of my best finds ever:

This is a hand painted demi-tasse set. I think this is an espresso set? Similar stuff is also listed as "hot chocolate set" on ebay, so I'm not really sure. It has the "rising sun" mark at the bottom. I did some research and found out that this could be early Noritake, made between 1890-1930s. It's in great condition with no chips or cracks, probably never even used once!

This is a beautiful hand painted plate made in Austria. It's gonna go on my kitchen wall 😍
