abed makes a list of ships

note: this is my first time *ever* writing fanfiction, and im not a native english speaker so this isn't gonna be really good

anyways here ya go

its a day as any at greendale community college. the study group is frantically cramming for the biology final which is at 4:00.

"mitochondria is the power house of the cell," jeff repeats again and again to really get it in his head.

"hey guys" abed says as he enters the room.

he's holding a large notepad and a bunch of papers, fumbling around not to drop them. this gets the attention of annie.

"why are you holding so many papers abed? oh no... did i miss a memo for an assignment?" annie says worrily.

"no no, its not for that. its a little project im doing."

"what is it?" asks britta.

"GUYS!" jeff exclaims. "please, for once, lets not get derailed. we only have a few hours to study the whole syllabus."

everyone ignores him.

"its a list of ships i think the audience would enjoy." abed says while plopping down the huge notepad and the pile papers on the desk. he takes a seat.

"ships? like the titanic?" troy interrogates abed.

"no, ships as in relation-ships" abed says in a gentle tone.

"abed, how many times do we have to remind you, we are NOT IN A SHOW!! and guys COME ON! we dont have time!!" jeff exclaims.

everyone ignores him again.

"abed.. thats not very healthy! we are real life people with real feelings. see i know that because im a psycholgy student and-" britta says until everyone groans.

jeff trys really hard to study atleast something.

"well now that we're talking about it, tell us some of the ships!" shirley says. everyone except jeff agrees.

"alright number one, TROBED!" exclaims abed enthusiastically.

troy and abed do their signature handshake while saying "what what!!"

"number two ABEDISON!" abed exclaims merrily.

annie smiles and twirls her hair. she and abed then do a little high five.

"number three JEFFANNIE!" abed says.

the whole group disagrees including jeff and annie. "no.." "nah..." "not good.."

"maybe lets strike that one.." jeff says in an uncomfortable tone.

"alright then." abed strikes it off.

"number four JABED!" abed exclaims cheerfully.

jeff disagrees but secretly he feels a little happy.

"number five.. TROBEDISON!" abed exclaims joyfully.

troy, abed, and annie all high five eachother merrily.

"number six JEFFBRITTA!"

"pffff... what..." "pshhh nooo thats impossible.." both britta and jeff mutter when they glance at eachother and look away.

"number seven JEFFSHIRLEY!"

"psshh whatt" "thats not possible!!" shirley and jeff mutter as they remember the times they both shared gossip and that one time when they played foosball..... they glance at eachother and look away.

"number eight BRITTANNIE!"

britta and annie stare at eachother longingly. they gasp in suprise.

"abed.. do you want these 'ships' to happen? and is this your way of confessing to troy, annie or jeff?" britta enquires abed pretending to be a therapist.

jeff, annie and troy all take a defensive stance and stare daggers at eachother. jeff, confused with himself, shakes his head as if it would get rid of his feelings.

"well. i dont know. maybe. maybe not. its just a little observation britta. how, if we were in a show, how the audience may behave. perhaps all these ships happen in different timelines. just a thought. you've britta'd my project." abed replies, a little disappointed.

"hey how come im not in any of these! do i not have a chance with any of you guys?" pierce says bitterly.

everyone groans, disgusted.

the group is a little silent for a moment.

"well..... shall we get started on studying?" jeff says.

the group agrees.

after 2 minutes of studying they got distracted, again.

Jeffbritta — I really like them they compel me quite a bit! I thought about putting them higher but because part of their whole thing is that they’re the normie toxic hets who are so basic in concept that they work all the way around to be subversive and fun I thought this ranking made sense for them. Also it’s true that the first time I was watching Comm it took me awhile to warm to them but eventually did and then on my second watch through I got real attached. Hand in unloveable hand core. Trobed — they’re great they compel me Geothermal Escapism makes me cry so much. I don’t think I have anything really insightful to add they’re the moment. Abedison — in a lot of ways this is my favorite community dynamic… they are my two favorite characters so that’s part of it. I love them romantically or platonically or queer-platonically, they’re two bisexuals in love they’re lesbian bi solidarity they’re a yuri couple nonbinary Abed rights they’re in a qpr with Troy they’re in a polyamorous relationship with Troy they’re in a fake relationship to cover up identity fraud one if them (could be either) committee and/or a murder one of them (Annie) committed, they’re neurotic freaks who understand each other best and they’re worsties. I did write multiple romantic Annie/Abed fics during quarantine with an account that’s now orphaned. My feelings on them as a ship are less cut and dry than on Trobed and Jeffbritta though hence placements.

Jabed — I also go back and forth on platonic/romantic with them but either way am compelled, a fascinating dynamic and foil ship, the most important relationship of the show in some ways. Critical Film Studies is usually the episode that puts me in a shippy mood where they’re concerned because there are Vibes present in that one.

Brittannie — the thing with them is I find them compelling but mostly from an Annie perspective because I very much read her as having feelings for Britta at points in the show and am interested in what it means for her, I’m less interested in seeing them together romantically in most scenarios except for the Brittannie Carmilla au I wrote one time, that was compelling to Me. Also I do flip flop on how I feel about them if you’d asked me when I first got into community I would have been more enthusiastic and maybe I’ll change my mind again next rewatch.

Frankie x Britta — I remember being into them but I don’t remember the justification much but.. it’s a good dynamic cute first date idea surprise a girl in her car and bond over nihilism in a round about way. There is a balancing effect there.
