EXCLUSIVE: Amazon Studios has greenlighted historical comedy series My Lady Jane for Prime Video, with Emily Bader (Paranormal Activity: Next of Kin), Edward Bluemel (Killing Eve) and Jordan Peters (Blue Story) set to star.
Rising American actress Bader will take on the titular role of Lady Jane. Based on the 2016 YA historical fiction novels, the series will follow an irreverent young Tudor woman who dreads her arranged marriage, only to be surprised when it results in a steamy romance, her being crowned Queen and a heroic mission to save the magical people persecuted by her political rivals. Taking short-lived British monarch Lady Jane Grey as its inspiration, the popular novel was penned by Brodi Ashton, Cynthia Hand and Jodi Meadows.

My Imaginary Mary - Cynthia Hand, Brodi Ashton, and Jodi Meadows
This book is part of a collection of historical fantasies each following a different women in history by the name of Mary, but with a twist. This one is specifically about Mary Shelley and Ada Lovelace but they are fae (and closer in age than they really were). With Mary's ability to alter the world around her with her imagination and Ada's engineering skills they create P.A.N. and have a whole adventure because of it.
I actually happened to read this just a bit before reading Frankenstein by Mary Shelley so during that reading I was able to find so many parallels and could see where the authors were drawing ideas. Which has given me a greater appreciation for the writing in this book. I already loved this series without the context though.
Overall 4.5/5 ⭐️

Novel Nuggets - August 2022 Releases
Novel Nuggets – August 2022 Releases
We are heading into August now. This has to be one of the most eclectic months of reading I have ever had. It also contains what is, without a doubt, the best book of the year. Here we go! Have you ever wondered what would happen if Ada Lovelace and Mary Wollstonecraft were best friends? And created an automaton? And had Percy Shelley helping them evade a mad scientist? Well, you are in luck…

My Imaginary Mary - Cynthia Hand, Brodi Ashton, Jodi Meadows (Mary #2)
Tumblr media
Mary may have inherited the brilliant mind of her late mother, Mary Wollstonecraft, but she lives a drab life above her father’s bookstore, waiting for an extraordinary idea that’ll inspire a work worthy of her parentage—and impress her rakishly handsome (and super-secret) beau, Percy Shelley. Ada Lovelace knows a thing or two about superstar parents, what with her dad being Lord Byron, the most famous poet on Earth. But her passions lie far beyond the arts—in mechanical engineering, to be exact. Alas, no matter how precise Ada’s calculations, there’s always a man willing to claim her ingenious ideas as his own. Pan, a.k.a. Practical Automaton Number One, is Ada's greatest idea yet: a machine that will change the world, if only she can figure out how to make him truly autonomous . . . or how to make him work at all. When fate connects our two masterminds, Mary and Ada learn that they are fae—magical people with the ability to make whatever they imagine become real. But when their dream team results in a living, breathing, thinking PAN, Mary and Ada find themselves hunted by a mad scientist who won't stop until he finds out how they made a real boy out of spare parts.
