(SPOILERS if you havent seen it obviously)
Tumblr media
About 3ish minutes into the episode we see Clark be affected by red sun radiation, one of the non-Kryptonite weakness Superman has.
Tumblr media
In the comics we first learn about this weakness in Action Comics #300 (1963), cover art by Curt Swan, George Klein, and Joe Letterese, where Superman is transported to the future by the Superman Revenge Squad, where the sun turned red thus losing his powers and has to find a way back home.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
At the place where Jimmy was captured, we meet Monsieur Mallah and the Brain, at least MAwS version of these characters. I talk more about them in here. The episode has them depicted more like an old married couple with no supervillainous intentions compared to their comic counterparts...
Tumblr media
who often associate themselves as enemies to the Doom Patrol and affliated with the Brotherhood of Evil. Also the Brain is usually French in the comics, here in MAwS, the Brain is German. The cover is from Outsiders #37 (2006) cover art by Daniel Acuna.
Tumblr media
Back outside we see where Monsieur Mallah and the Brain took Jimmy, Cadmus Minefield.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Cadmus/Project Cadmus/the DNA Project, is known for its genetic engineering projects. The organization makes its first appearance in Superman's Pal Jimmy Olsen #135 (1971) created by legendary comic book creator, Jack Kirby. Cadmus is pretty well known for cloning Superboy/Kon-el/Conner Kent. Like in MAwS Cadmus is a government sanctioned division that's located outside of Metropolis. Ironic since in MAwS the government disavows Cadmus. You can read more about it on these two pages from Who's Who in the DC Universe #12 (1991), the art is done by Dan Jurgens, Dennis Janke, and Anthony Tollins.
Tumblr media
Later in the forest we see Lois and Clark have to deal with the OMACs.
Tumblr media
In the comics, Jack Kirby created OMAC, at the time, the acronym stood for One Man Army Corp. Buddy Blank of Earth-AD (a future post-apocalyptic Earth) was selected to be part of the OMAC program where with the help of the Brother Eye satellite grants him powers of super strength, stamina and density control. The cover art here for OMAC #1 (1971) was done by Jack Kirby, Mike Royer, and Gaspar Saladino.
Tumblr media
Years later OMAC gets reinvented to be a cyborgs of Brother Eye that was developed by Batman thanks to his paranoia about super powered heroes turning evil. The page here is from the OMAC Project #5 (W: Greg Rucka, P&I :Jesus Saiz, C: Hi-Fi, L: Phil Balsman). This iteration of OMAC uses the acronym for Omni-Mind and Community. These Cyborgs make their first appearance in the OMAC Project #1 (2005). MAwS's OMACs are a lot more robotic and Evangelion-esque designed compared to how they look in the comics. Note the mohawk/fin designs on OMACs heads in both iterations of the comics and how the robots are designed in MAwS.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Someone on the MAwS team is a fan of Gurren Lagann.
Tumblr media
Monsieur Mallah name drops Task Force X. I talked about the organization here
Tumblr media
Monsieur Mallah mentions one dimensions in the universe where he and the Brain can be accepted. This brings to mind...
Tumblr media
DC's multiverse. The multiverse makes its first appearance in the Flash #123 (1961) where Barry Allen and Jay Garrick meet for the first time. DC's multiple Earths have changed over the years from having only 52 distinct Earths to now infinite. The Multiverse map created by Grant Morrison and Rian Hughes, here is from Multiversity comic series.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Someone on the MAwS crew is a fan of the ED-209 design in Robocop.
Tumblr media
After the fight with the OMACs, the Brain talks about the General. The only person in DC comics who usually goes by that moniker is...
Tumblr media
General Wade Eiling. The panels here are from Captain Atom #1 (1987) (W: Cary Bates, P: Pat Broderick, I: Bob Smith, C: Carl Gafford, L: John Costanza). General Eiling is often associated with Suicide Squad/Task Force X. So it's possible that much like Parasite and Ivo, the MAwS team are combining characters by having...
Tumblr media
him be a combination of General Eiling and General Sam Lane, Lois's dad. But who knows. Gotta wait for confirmation if this is either Eiling or Lane.
Thank you for taking your time reading this and making it this far down the post. If you want to see the other posts of easter eggs and references for past episodes:

Blue and Gold and Eye
Theodore "Ted" Kord and Michael Jon Carter, the perennial "World's Second Finest" pairing, inseparable since the day they met. Even after two kids, a death or two, difficult in-laws, a Venusian mind-worm living inside in Skeets, and some invasive deep state nanite bio-cyborgs, you can always count on the Blue & Gold.

batman is essentially always in a room with loaded guns pointing blindly in every direction with the safety off. wouldn't you be scared? what if you truly believed you were the only person who could unload those guns if one of them started firing wildly? you'd be surly too i bet
Here's the rub, my friend. Batman's whole Babylon files schtick only works if you engage with him at the level of "something is going to universally compromise the entire superhero community EXCEPT FOR ME, and somehow these people I've known for years, the smartest, toughest, bravest people I've ever met will somehow not see me coming if they go evil." Like he believes that the entire League is going to turn evil one day and he, because he's god's gift to crime fighting, will be totally immune to stepping over the line. You know how long it would take an evil Superman to kill Bruce? As long as it would take him to float over the Batcave and point his heat vision directly on top of wherever Bruce is standing. If he truly, TRULY believed that the ENTIRE League was going to go bad at the same time, his only action would be taking them out proactivley because once they actually do go bad there is NOTHING he can do to functionally stop them. But even the IDEA of it speaks to a fundamental arrogance and lack of self reflection. Bruce isn't the only Superhero without powers. Bruce isn't the only hero who does the majority of his work as an urban vigilante. In fact the fact that he's been on the Justice League at all creates the same amount of higher level disconnect from "normal" concerns that he accuses his fellow Leaguers of. And I repeat, his own scrambling has proven his premise wrong at least twice, probably more than twice. The Babylon crisis showed that his plans were a huge liability that could disable the League basically dependent only on whether or not a villain can access the Batcomputer and his creation of Brother Eye showed that his own paranoia is a far bigger threat to the heroes around him than those heroes have ever been or could ever have been to him. Any solution to the idea of a Leaguer going bad would have to be, should be, MUST be communal. Because there is nothing that Batman can come up with to take down Superman that won't be less effective than just pitching Captain Marvel at the problem. If Batman HONESTLY believes he could take on the entire community single handedly? He's an idiot. If he HONESTLY believes that that is his right and responsibility? He's a danger to everyone around him.

2024-03-11 week "Good Cop, Bat Cop" update
We're now very close to the opening of the "Good Cop, Bat Cop" tournament, a poll tournament to decide the Batman media character who is basically a cop.
So far, there have been 24 submissions.
Dick Grayson is leading the number of submissions.
Close behind him is Jason Todd.
Behind him is Bruce Wayne, who is followed by Barbara Gordon.
Ace the Bat-Hound, Brother EYE, Cassandra Cain, Tim Drake, Lucius Fox, Tim "Jace" Fox, the Joker, Jacob Kane, Kate Kane, the Penguin, and Professor Pyg are currently tied.
Submissions will remain open until the final round of the tournament.
The match-up bracket will be posted at least a full 24 hours before the release of the first round of polls.
The main event will be the "Batman and Family" bracket, featuring Batman's team of crime-fighting buddies.
After the "Batman and Family" bracket, a number of finalists will go on to a general Gothamite bracket featuring other Batman characters such as villainous rogues, Brother EYE, Jacob Kane, etc.
In other news, this blog's posts should now appear in the tags! Thanks to Tumblr staff for resolving the issue. Hopefully the poll tournament can proceed smoothly as planned. Thank you all for your patience.

Coming to you live, the immediate and dreaded realization that a big red mechanical eye in one franchise is actually the big red mechanical eye from the other one.
HERE WE GO AGAIN, FOLKS!
#Godzilla#Superman#Justice League#Justice League vs Godzilla vs Kong: The Search For A Better Title Like Seriously Did Nothing Pithy Come To Mind?#Spoilers#Mechagodzilla#King Ghidorah#Lex Luthor#Brother Eye#I literally had the one-two punch of wondering why they'd bring in Brother Eye when they had enough villains kicking around#only to remember that DC has Mechagodzilla money.#I mean at least Ghidorah controlling everything made SENSE it was just everything else with Mechagodzilla's construction that didn't add up#which Legacy of Monsters is trying to account for bless 'em.#er...#Monarch Spoilers#Anyhow. DC science and tech used to rebuild and upgrade Mechagodzilla makes perfect sense tbh#though considering Godzilla has APPARENTLY killed Superman with a single blast MG's gonna be even more overpowered.#I mean if Toyman and/or Lex try to control the Titans that way then ring-a-ding-ding baby Ghidorah's back in control.#... fuck I wonder if they'll regrow his body. Then they're TRULY fucked.#Like I'm very iffy on how this comic came about and is being executed#like the Bats defeating Camazotz after Jason somehow injures it with a handheld rifle like the military and Kong didn't ever go for the eye#with bigger and more powerful weapons/equipment and the time scale is all over the place even with teleporters and superspeed#not to mention Kara hearing Clark's heart stop and declaring him dead with her SUPER SENSES but Batman goes 'NO! NOT UNTIL I CHECK!'#because of course he'll spot something she didn't and they'll blame it on her being upset.#... er moving on#Iffy on concept and execution. BUT. The one thing even GvK didn't diminish was the dread I felt when Ghidorah's involvement was revealed#and boy oh boy did that feeling spring right back when I put together just who Lex found... the One Who Is Many has returned...

Historically, ugly boy band members have often tried to distract from their faces by doing the absolute most with their hair (beards, dye, never-cute braids), but Rupert P. couldn’t even be bothered to put that mess under a hat

Been reading the late great Jack "The King" Kirby's O.M.A.C: One Man Army Corps.
The character of the classic O.M.A.C & his counterpart Buddy Blank had a short but memorable run.
The original must be remembered and cherished before considering reading any of the future incarnations.

Sasha Bordeaux and "Michael Costner", hosts of the OMAC virus
(more under the cut)
Hired by Wayne Industries as a personal bodyguard for Dr. Victoria October, Sasha Bordeaux's time in Gotham ended in tragedy when she was framed for the murder of her ex-girlfriend, Vesper Fairchild. Eventually exonerated by evidence collected by Batman Inc, an attempt on Sasha's life left her with severe damage on the left side of her body, leading to the amputation of arm and leg as well as the removal of her left eye.
Dr. October, desperate, asked acting Kord Industries head Victoria Kord for help. In exchange for access to October's research, Kord used an experimental version of what would become known as the OMAC (Omni Mind And Community) Virus to rebuild Sasha's body.
The implementation of the virus was a success.
Sasha, no longer comfortable in the city that had destroyed her body and reputation, abandoned Gotham against October's wishes, choosing to return to living internationally as an agent of Checkmate. Filling the open position of The Black King's Knight, Sasha found herself in the employ of Maxwell Lord.
Given an undercover operation, Sasha took on the identity of "Vienna Barstow" a Las Vegas showgirl, during which she was responsible for observing and maintaining the safety of one Michael Costner, an orphaned youth originally from Metropolis before moving to Gotham and onto Vegas.
As time went on, it became clear that "Michael Costner" was not a real person but a parapersonality created by someone within Checkmate to keep Sasha's mark hidden and under control.
Following the death of Maxwell Lord IV at the hands of Wonder Woman, Michael's true identity spontaneously emerged: Maxwell Lord V, a second generation bio-organic OMAC only to be activated by Brother Eye in the event of their father's death.
Using the nanites carried by Sasha, Max V underwent a rapid transformation into the first of a new line of mass production OMACs, a new army for Checkmate in their coming wars with metahuman, extraterrestrial, and extradimensional threats alike.
Sasha, now a fugitive from Checkmate, sought assistance from the Black Queen's Knight, Jessica Midnight, and went on the run. Finding shelter with Diana and her revitalized Justice Society, found another unexpected ally against Lord the Younger: Ted Kord, saved from death by the OMAC virus as well.
Back within the halls of Checkmate, Lord had two priorities: finishing the process of installing Amanda Waller in the role of US President, and hiring out Lex Luthor's bodyguard Mercy Graves for a single hit: kill Sasha Bordeaux.
