Animation details in Encanto (probably one of many, many, many posts)
#1 - Bruno before his visions:
His face immediately before the vision forms behind his eyes is serene, though clearly burdened with anticipation...
Tumblr media
But you can see the immense effort that it takes to steady and prepare himself for the vision as it materialises and projects from his irises; his hands clench tighter, brows furrow and jaw sets harder. It actually looks painful.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The same can be seen when he has his vision ten years later with Mirabel: although subtle, his frown deepens and his mouth pulls tighter as he steels himself for the onset of probably sharp, stinging bursts of light behind his eyes.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Only when he exhales and stretches out his hands do we see his features relax a little.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
But then, right before his eyes light up, we can see just how difficult it is to keep himself poised through the strain. It's clear that, although rusty after a decade, he's learned how to cope with it through this pre-relaxation routine.
Tumblr media
It's telling that they took the time to animate all these miniscule details to further convey why Bruno was not only reluctant to perform the vision for Mirabel, but also how part of his anxiety likely stems from the very real expectancy of pain before, and probably during, the vision itself - and all this before he's even had to decipher what symbolism he sees, then convey what that means to the requester.
Dolores was definitely on the mark when she sang that Bruno's gift was "a heavy lift", and the animators made sure to let us know this is the case. 🥺
~If this is the number of years it's taken to get to this point of managing it, I can only imagine how excruciating it must have been when he first started out. He's suffered more than we know. 😭~

Bruno x Sweet Mortician OC
Ludo the mortician. They stumbled their way into the hidden village as a teenager with a concussion, lost memories, and a strange air of mystery. They were adopted by an old couple and got to live peacefully with them. Still, they didn’t make many friends. They dress in black and became somewhat the new outcast of the village because of their general odd disposition.
Since being in charge of the dead in the village was seen as a 'cursed' job (one no one wants to do and everyone hates), it was usually a responsibility alternated between people. But some stuff would just be too.... much for some families to get through so eventually, as an orphan teen, Ludo picked up their britches and ran through everything, talking to the family of the lost one, setting up the flowers and the burial and planning who brings what when. They figured since no one wanted the job... they could settle down and take it. And they like it.
The village is grateful... but also concerned and a little put off by their calm attitude with death. They now live next to the cemetery; a home was built specifically for them. They take care of the gravestones and talk to themselves because they live mostly alone and only come to the village in the mornings for supplies.
~
The town went up to help build the Madrigal’s house. The last one to know that it had even collapsed and needed fixing was Ludo when they went in the morning to get some eggs and they see the commotion. They ask about it at the shop, and people tell them about the Madrigals having lost their home and powers.
'Oh no, I should go give my condolences… Wait, no one died, right?"
"Oh um.... no, someone would’ve called for you if they did. We are ALL good here..... haha actually, I guess you could say the opposite happened. Someone was found."
"Found? Like. When I come into the village? Do we have another outsider-"
"Nono, the missing Madrigal! Bruno! He came back-"
"HAVEANICEDAY!WHEREDIDYOUSAYTHEYWERESTAYING?NO-WAIT-I REMEMBER! OKTHANKYOUBYYEEEEE"
"............. they forgot the eggs..."
Ludo rushes to try to see if they can get a peek and their eyes scan through the people coming in and out of the home of a villager kind enough to let some of the Madrigals stay (id imagine they stay at different homes each) and.......... they can’t see anyone 7 feet tall.
... maybe this was the wrong house.
They try looking around, bumping into people who brush them off cuz they know how loopy Ludo is, until they stumble HARD onto someone else that was also not paying attention, trying to shy away from people, hiding in the shadows. Ludo had never seen him before.
"Oh, uh. I-I'm sorry, I wasn't paying attention-"
"... neither was I...."
He helps them up and let’s go of their hand, trying to walk away. "I'll just- Sorry I'll go-"
"Nononono-"
They grab at his hand again and now Bruno has his attention on em.
"What's your name?"
"...... Bruno...."
"BRUNO!"
They’re so excited. "Bruno! You're Bruno!"
"I'm Bruno, yes-"
"Woah....... you're...."
They flit around him, still holding his hand. "You're not 7 feet tall."
"Ah- about that-"
They notice a rat on his shoulder. "Oh, but you DO talk to rats!"
"Yes well, they've always kept me company..."
"That is so cute!" This makes Bruno's brain stop and sputter from shock.
"C-Cute? You think talking to rats..."
"Yes." They nod enthusiastically. "I wish I could talk to rats. The animals in the cemetery just run from me. Spiders are my only real source of company there…."
“............" Bruno is beginning to wonder if he's being made fun of. He notices his hand still on theirs. He tries to let go. "I should.... get back..."
"Oh no." They link his fingers to theirs and begin moving him along, making him trip a bit. "We are going to my home. Have you eaten breakfast? I should pick up my eggs. You don’t have anything else to do, right, with the house and the stuff? Ah- I’m sure they can take care of it. We are going to have FUN!!! Wow. Bruno. Brunoooooo~!"
They begin humming the song and Bruno can’t help be swept along, some villagers seeing them and getting bug eyed. The vendor of the eggs shakes her head as they leave her stand. Bruno and Ludo.
What’s going to happen there?
~
Ludo had always loved the Bruno 'horror stories.’ They always felt a kinship with the only other soul in town that people had been wary of. Now that he was there, of course they reasoned it should be okay to take him to their home for a talk! They didn’t notice Bruno being uncomfortable at all.
He’s nervous as they hold his hand and take him far away from the town, panicking and repeating questions that are never answered, Ludo is too focused on the trip. When they reach Ludo’s home... Bruno is wide-eyed staring at the cemetery next door. the cemetery. He is confused, but finally, Ludo brings him inside, sits him down in the kitchen, and introduces themselves with an offering of tea.
"I want to know everything about you."
As they sit down. Bruno is tense. Ludo is weird and can’t stop looking him over, clearly hanging on Bruno's every word. He's nervous; he doesn’t know how to read them, doesn’t know what they want from him exactly....  but he talks about what happened. Why he ‘disappeared.’ He got very… emotional talking about this to someone outside the family for the first time. He was staring at his cup of tea in silence.
Ludo exhales a breath they had kept. "I'm so sorry that happened to you.... you have such a big heart." With zero hesitation, they hold his hand, and Bruno’s shoulders... let up.
"Uh. T-thanks... it.... well, it was hard but. Things are okay now..." He tries a weak smile. Ludo smiles back.
"Yeah. I’m glad you’re here! Now we're going to be friends!"
They just decided it. So, they'll keep coming from the shadows to see what Bruno's up to, taking him back to their cottage near daily, just talking, and being soft together. Bruno found them a bit off-putting and pushy at first, but they grow on him because they never once make him feel like the weird one. He gets to feel good around them. So, he likes being near them more every time.
~
Bruno has been having difficulty in the house he's staying in because its crowded and he thinks he's scaring their children too much. Bruno mentions this one day as they shared another morning cup of coffee, and Ludo immediately shoots up from their seat.
'Stay with me. It’ll be like a sleepover! Holy bones, this is going to be fun!!!' They’re already going outside, no thoughts, just action, and Bruno follows behind. He’s anxious but doesn’t fight the idea too much. He just keeps asking if it’s ok with them, concerns that Ludo brush off like dirt.
‘Why WOULDN’T I want you in my home? You’re a joy to have around!’
That shuts Bruno up for the rest of the walk. They get his stuff no problem and the town is giving them eyes once again as they leave to Ludo’s home.
After sleeping in a cramped room with others around him now that he’s offered the couch and the peace and quiet of living so far from town… Bruno gets a bit too overwhelmed. He relapses and gets nightmares from his time sleeping and living alone in the walls. Ludo immediately notices that he isn’t getting enough sleep, and they force him to reveal why.
Now, they sleep in the same room together. Ludo is not one to question helping his friend and does not mind sharing their ‘personal space.’
Bruno hates feeling like he’s taking advantage of their kindness, but he keeps agreeing to the offers they give him. Bruno is sleeping in the floor with blankets, but just knowing someone else is in the room is so comforting. He sleeps peacefully. Slowly, they go from him in the floor to them both on the floor (because Ludo decides they want to join and they end up making a pillow fort of sorts one night) to them both being in the bed when the fort is knocked over. Bruno is nervous, but by that point they’ve gotten very close… close enough that, as they were both laying on the bed on top of the covers just seeing the ceiling, he's begins confessing to some more trauma and depressive moments in his life.
Moments like his room changing to have so many stairs after he 'ruined' Pepa's wedding because his family was so 'disappointed in him' and he was ashamed. When he finally came out of his room after not having a proper meal in so long, no one really acknowledged it but Julieta, who gave him food and insisted that he was skinnier. All this while Abuela simple, sternly reminded him that he needs to take care of himself, he’s not a child. And Pepa refused to even look at him because she was still mad, she merely breezed by with a cloud over her head and left before it rained. In the end, he just crawled back to his room and it filled with sand a little more.
Ludo is holding onto him, latched on. They repeat like a chant- "I’m so glad you’re here. I’m so glad you’re here.’
He has one arm over them, trying to breath as he’s trying not to cry, and cracks his voice saying 'Yeah. I’m... glad I’m here too...... thank you.' He tries to laugh. 'Thanks for having me-'
 Don’t thank me, it’s NO PROBLEM AT ALL! You can stay as long as you want. You know that. I love having you here, you've made me so happy with your company!'
He's laughing more. This is unbelievable. 'And you me! I’m glad you.... like having me here I didn’t- think it was possibly for anyone to enjoy having me around.' Ludo squeezes him harder and.....
...... who knows. Maybe this. All of this night makes Ludo be brave and kiss him for the first time. Once they calmed down and actually agreed on going to bed together, they surprise him by brushing his hair back, him getting shy, and they plant a quick peck on his lips. Bruno’s red.
'What just-'
‘I told you. I like you.'
‘But-'
‘Hah. Sweet dreams, Ratman.'
They curl themselves onto his chest, face hidden. He can only hold them loser, wanting not to cry again, feeling so unbearably soft and like he can’t sleep. He just wants to stay awake and keep holding them.

Yandere Reactions: Having a nightmare about their darling getting hurt/losing them
Tumblr media
Julieta Madrigal:
The dream stuck with her for weeks.
She knows it's silly but every time her darlings come to her with a new wound that dream floods back full force.
This then leads to her going just a little overboard when caring and keeping an eye on her darling.
It will start to fade after a few months, but it will be a very…. cautious few months.
Pepa Madrigal:
Like Julieta…. but way more intense.
The dream really put a shock to her system making her gentler with her darling, yet she will be clingier than before.
She is going to drag her darling with her everywhere she goes believing that she can protect them from everything if they are with her.
In truth she knows she can't protect them from EVERYTHING but it's a comfort for her knowing that they are there with her.
Like Julieta, it will take her a while before she starts calming down (although it will be double for her than it would be for Julieta.)
Bruno Madrigal:
He is going to constantly be checking up on them both in person and using his future vision.
He is just a bit calmer since he can see if anything is going to happen or not.
That doesn't mean that he won't be on alert.
Being on edge makes him look into the future more often than needed but it’s a way for him to calm his nerves even if it’s for a short time.
Because of his power he will start to calm down just a bit faster than his sisters yet that doesn't mean he will never stop looking after his darling in his own way.

Camilo Analysis
Bruh, who even is Camilo? He is arguably the Madrigal we get the least real characterization for, other than Teenage Boy, which is a very broad category of person. So as per usual, it helps me to get my thoughts in order if I write this stuff down.
First, Mirabel introduces Camilo through song and we right of way see him shapeshift into a young mother so he can sooth her baby while she takes a nap. That's actually a really great way to imply several things about his character (oh my god guys, this movie is so well written).
Thoughtful enough to offer a new mom a chance to rest
Comfortable caring for infants (probs helped care for Antonio?)
More patient than I would have thought, because taking care of a baby while the mother rests is not a quick and easy favor
Sort of implies that he likes kids
Then Mirabel sings he "won't stop until he makes you smile today" while he turns into multiple people and doing goofy stuff. Everybody already knows he's an entertainer at heart but I gotta add it to the list anyways.
5. Likes making people laugh
6. Plays around with his gift a lot
Moving on to Antonio's party, he's the guy greeting all the villagers by name, and he changes his energy to match each person.
7. Knows a lot of the villagers
8. Charming and personable
9. Respects his elders (kisses the old woman on the cheek)
He jokes around with Antonio, probably in an attempt to soothe his nerves, and teases his Pa. This reinforces points one, four, five and six. If this was a different list, I would talk about what it means that Camilo is clearly comfortable teasing his father, despite the seemingly stern reaction Félix has, but I digress.
He stands with Julieta while Antonio and Mirabel walk to the door, giving birth to a lot headcanons about them being especially close, and I'm going to roll with it.
10. Of his siblings, he's closest to Julieta.
Then he's very excited for Antonio as he discovers his room, it's actually the happiest we see him in the movie (other than perhaps when he's dancing in We Don't Talk About Bruno). So:
11. Supportive? Or maybe just enjoys seeing other people happy?
Plot happens, fast forward to breakfast when he pretends to be Dolores so he can get double the food. Then teases Isabela about Mariano, something he does a lot in the movie.
12. Likes food.
13. In his Little Shit era
Fast forward some more, all the way to We Don't Talk About Bruno. He absolutely kills it, and clearly enjoys the whole production. If you're like me and you headcanon that the musical numbers happen in universe then we can conclude:
13.5. Fucking loves living in a musical
And if you headcanon they don't:
14. Enjoys telling stories.
15. Probably hasn't thought through the consequences of telling everybody his Tío is a seven foot tall boogy man that feasts on screams. Which is very normal for a fifteen year old boy.
Teases Isabela about Mariano again. More plot happens. Time For Dinner. Dolores gossips to him as soon as she can, then he immediately gossips to his Pá. When Félix accidentally spits his drink onto Mariano, Camilo has to hold in a laugh. It's possible he doesn't really like Mariano, he keeps making jokes about the guy, at the very least he doesn't take him seriously. I wonder if he's the sort of guy that prefers to hang out with women?
16. Close to his sister.
17. Close to his father.
18. Shapeshifts reflexively/accidentally.
More plot. We see him try to soothe his mother.
19. Takes care of his Má. Pepa is literally unable to hide her emotions, so it would make sense that, through no real fault of her own, the kids slowly learn to take care of her as they grow up. The squeaky wheel gets the grease and all. On the flip side, the fact that sun beams come out whenever they get home from school or learn a new skill probs means the kids can never doubt that Pepa loves them. Plus, she likely has the easiest time transitioning from a parent-child relationship to a parent-adult offspring relationship of all the adults. So Camilo might be growing closer to his Má as he gets closer to adulthood.
The longer the plot goes on the less we see him. He's clearly frustrated with his gift glitching on him, but that doesn't really tell me much. It's a situation that would frustrate anyone and they don't show us how he handles those negative emotions. They also don't show us how he handles hearing the end of Mirabel's and Abuela's argument. Rude. They do show us him leaping to the candle's aid while the house crashes down around him so clearly:
20. Sees the Miracle as more important than his own safety.
The house falls, the candle goes out, in the background we hear him first remark on his gift being gone, then wonder how this will effect his little brother. We already know he enjoys using his gift, I can theorize he's made Being a Shapeshifter an important part of his identity, but all we have that's concrete is:
21: He doesn't just enjoy his gift, it is important to him.
22. Empathetic.
Mirabel runs off, resolution happens, Mirabel comes back. He is the one who cuts through the reunion to point out their house is gone, and even gets a little exasperated when he catches a bit of flack from Félix.
23. Not an optimist. Might be a pessimist, but most likely just not particularly sentimental.
For the rest of the scene he exists in a state of confusion. The hits start coming and they don't stop coming. Apparently Tío Bruno is just suddenly back now? And it kind of seems like half the family isn't surprised or asking any questions?! There's not a lot of conclusions I can draw from him being shocked and confused that Bruno just sort of appeared out of nowhere, I think most people would be. And unlike the parents or the older cousins, he doesn't have enough memories from when Bruno was around to be swept up in the joy of seeing him again. His reaction is relatable and endearing, but not very revealing.
The last character moment we get is when he tries to twirl the shovel around all fancy, almost drops it, then checks to make sure Mirabel wasn't watching. It reinforces things already mentioned, like him being showy, and wanting to entertain those around him, but also:
24. Wants to be seen as cool. Another very normal trait for a teenage boy.
It is interesting that the first person he looks at is Mirabel, I can't help but wonder if that would have been the case at the beginning of the movie. There's room for interpretation there, but regardless, by the end of the movie:
25. Respects Mirabel's opinion.

Tía Y/N (Madrigal triplets & Reader) part 2
Tumblr media
Part 1
_____________________
"GET OUT OF MY WAY!"
"I WASN’T EVEN PART OF THIS!"
"FÉLIX, I WANT A DIVORCE!"
"JULIETA, COME BACK HERE!"
“YES JULI, COME BACK!
“NEVER!”
“SHE DOESN’T HIT YOU THAT HARD!”
"BETTER YOU THAN ME!"
“YOU’RE THE ELDEST! YOU HAVE TO SACRIFICE FOR YOUR BABY SIBLINGS”
“I KNOW NO SIBLINGS BUT THE ONE WITH THE CHANCLA BEHIND US, YOU’RE ON YOUR OWN”
“JULIETAAAAAAAA”
Alma tried not to laugh and maintain a serious face, but it was quite difficult when her triplets, all 50 years old with their own families, ran as a soul that the devil carries to avoid what everyone is afraid of: la chancla.
She didn't really know what was happening, it had been a quiet and normal morning, with the whole family taking a day off to enjoy each other's company. She had been embroidering with Mirabel in the living room (she did it more and more often, in an attempt to fix the relationship with her younger granddaughter), when Isabela and Camilo had entered laughing out loud, with Felix and Luisa smiling behind them.
They did not even have time to ask what happened before three green, yellow and blue spots flew next to them, with a very angry Y/N yelling from upstairs.
Alma was no fool, she knew that you, her eldest daughter and the one who reminded her most of Pedro (at least in appearance), had long taken the role that corresponded to her in the life of the triplets. On the one hand, she was happy they had you, but on the other it hurt her heart and guilt consumed her for knowing that she was never really present in her children's life to the point where they had to turn to you for help.
She never knew when Bruno had told you that he didn't want to have his own family, that he was not interested in having a partner of any kind. She wasn't present when Pepa had run to you on the first day of her period, or in the long night talks about crushes when she met Félix. She didn't even know that Julieta liked women too.
Just a few months ago she had discovered that Pepa calmed down when she was caressed, that Bruno liked to play the guitar or that Julieta loved painting and that the beautiful pictures in your room were made by her. In truth, she didn't know her own children. But you did.
You had been with them on every step of the road, even when they took different paths, you had never let them be lost for a long time. A task that you later performed with the grandchildren as well. Isabela and Dolores had learned to walk with you, Luisa always looked up to you especially when she had a problem, Camilo told you the secrets that he could never tell his parents, Antonio still followed you around all day when he was feeling sad and Mirabel...for the girl you were the whole world. There was absolutely nothing that she didn't tell you.
You were the only other family member besides her grandmother who didn't have a gift, you understood what it was to grow up with magical siblings when there was nothing special in you, you understood the looks of people's judgment, murmurs and teasing. That was why you had made your special mission to make the girl protected from all that.
Little by little, you wove a warm blanket of love and humility, you taught her that she did not need to have a gift to be a light, to shine and be a source of comfort. Mirabel could be identical to Julieta in appearance, but she was definitely a coal copy of you in everything else.
It took her too long to realize it, but now Alma understood that the miracle, the magic, was not what united them, that it was only a feature that most of them shared and nothing else. The answer was you. Really, you were the angel who kept the family together.
...And that's why no one should mess with you, unless they wanted all of heaven's strength chasing them. Or that it was one of the triplets. 50 years and they had not yet learned not to make you angry? Or perhaps it was their way of getting your attention when they felt you were abandoning them for the grandchildren.
A silly thought perhaps, but children will always be children, and the age did not matter, they would always need even if it was just a hug from their mother. And you were definitely the triplets' mother, no matter how much it hurt her.
"What do you think happened?" Mirabel whispered, taking her out of her thoughts
"I don't know" Alma smiled "but it must have been bad if your mother is running too"
It was true. Of the three, Julieta was usually the one that was spared from your fury. It was no secret to anyone that she was your favorite sister/daughter/family/person, despite Pepa and Bruno's anger, who would always get offended when her sister avoided your scolding.
"What about Julieta?! She also helped with the joke!" they would said
"Maybe, but she looks cute doing it" you'd shrug "besides, who could be mad at this precious face?" You would add while taking your sister by the cheeks
Your younger siblings would cross their arms and looked at you with an annoyed pout while a black cloud hovered on the redhead, and Julieta simply let you use her cheeks as a squishy and fill her face with kisses (something she took from you and did with her niece, nephews and daughters too), while she smirked at them.
The only times she actually got scolded was when she wasn't taking care of her own health. So either Julieta just wanted to do exercise or whatever the hell they did was really stupid and dangerous.
"YOU'RE ALL SO GROUNDED!!" You growled when you managed to get to the first floor.
You cursed Casita for siding with the triplets and letting them run while it trapped you on the second floor, but that didn't mean they were safe. Nope, there was no escape.
"What happened, mija?" Alma asked you walking up to you
"Your mocosos share the same fried brain cell and unfortunately for them, it wasn't Julieta's turn to have It" you growled
Your mother laughed and rolled her eyes fondly. She knew that you loved your siblings more than anything and that any insult you might have for them would never come out of the heart, just from a motherly anger, and there was something she could think that this was about.
"Did they try to test Julieta's gift with poisoned food again?" She asked
"They tried to test my patience" you answered "they used arsenic, mom. ARSENIC!"
Okay, that was new. Alma felt bad for thinking it, but she could have expected something that stupid and irresponsible from Pepa and Bruno, but Julieta? She knew better than that, she wasn't a silly girl who didn't know what arsenic could do. She must have been really desperate to get your attention if she let her siblings drag her into that.
"How are they even alive?" She gasped
"Félix caught them before they could even finish the empanadas and ran to tell me" you sighed "and I'm glad he did"
"Of course, I don't want to thinking what could have happened to them"
"And because now I can kill them myself"
Alma looked at you for a moment. You were frowning and looked ready to hit whoever stood in front of you, but she was still your mother and she could see the fear in your eyes, and honestly, she felt it too. She followed your gaze to see her younger children still running and she made a note to scold them right after you.
You felt your mom's aura changing and knew she was on your side, so you smirked and took your sandal with a single move, your eyes never leaving your adorably stupid siblings.
"Who do you want me to hit?" You asked, just for fun
Alma thought about it for a second. Julieta would definitely get the worst scolding once they were back for letting the other two convince her to do something stupid, but you both knew it hadn't been her idea. It probably wasn't even Bruno's, but there was someone who had never feared death nor god.
"The middle one" she told you
You nodded and focused on your victim for a moment before your chance flew directly at her. Your smirk never left your face and grew even more when Pepa fell to the ground after it hit her right in the head. Bruno and Julieta didn't even look at their fallen sister, they just ran faster to save their lives.
"AND YOU BETTER BRING IT BACK TO ME, YOUNG LADY" You yelled at the redhead while the whole family laughed behind you.
These three would be the end of you one day, you were sure of that. But god knew you wouldn't have them any other way. Besides, they were your cute little babies, so you guessed that gave them some points too.

Encanto Oc Appreciation week two! Relationships ✨️
@encanto-extended-edition
It's my beloved sunshine trio! I finally drew all of them together (took me long enough I know)
Some more of Armida's relationships summarized below the cut 💛
(I am so terribly bad at summaries Im so sorry- If I could write out the extent of all of their relationships I would- sadly I dont have the time..)
Alma: Her relationship with Alma pre movie is strained- mostly because she fears the older woman. Armida is riddled with anxiety and intrusive thoughts over what her mother in law may think of her, and often fears Alma thinks she got into the way of her daughter's relationship- or that she isn't a "real" madrigal. Basically.. it's a lot of assumptions on how Alma feels about her.. but they are not always truthful.
Armida also tends to disagree with Alma's ways. But between her being passive by nature and having a fear of speaking up, she never says anything. Rather she does her best to help by being there for other family members the best she can be.
Julieta: She was the first of the triplets that Armida became close to. Armida had visited her stand often, and at first Julieta thought the younger woman was accident prone like Agustín.. Over time it became clear that wasn't the case, but Armida was always super polite- despite lying about why she needed to be healed. She always made sure to thank Julieta - not just for healing her but for everything she does. After that it was surprisingly easy for the two of them to talk- and making friends with Julieta naturally got Armida talking to Bruno and Pepa. Although out of the triplets Armida is the least closest to Julieta now, she still feels incredibly safe with the woman. Armida is set trying to lessen Julietas work load. The only issue being- she really can't cook- all she can really do is help with preparation when needed. So instead she settles with going out to town when Julieta needs anything. It's not a lot, but it's something at the very least, and it's appreciated more than Armida will probably ever realize.
Bruno: While obviously Armida is closest with Pepa and Félix, she also shares a really close bond with Bruno. The both of them being pretty bad insomniacs, they bonded a lot over sleepless nights- She'd tell him about the stars if the sky was clear enough and he'd talk about his rat telenovelas or sometimes about his gift- and she'd comfort him. She's a fan of his telenovelas- she loves the rats, and he's actually a really good writer. She offers to help make small costumes and even jokes about background music for suspense. All and all their relationship is very cute- I like to say they are like platonic soulmates. Obviously after Bruno disappears and comes back things aren't the same.. while he was in the walls some nights she'd sit and talk with his door instead, not knowing he was actually listening. Things are a bit awkward when he comes back- Armida having a lot of feelings about him "leaving" when he hurt his family so badly, but in the end she understands his motivation.
Isabela: When Isabela was little, the girl loved getting her hands dirty. so naturally - Armida loved taking the girl out with her in her nature walks, because even at twenty seven she herself still loved to explore. It was something they bonded over, Dolores never really being as interested. But of course fell apart after Isa was pressured into being the golden child. Now they aren't nearly as close, but the both of them still remember digging for worms near Casita, or going looking for different types of plants in the jungle. Sometimes Isa still takes walks- taking the same paths they used to when she was little- when she knows no one is looking for her. It helps clear her head. Of course after the movie the two begin to grow close once more, Isa being quite excited to show off all the new plants to her supportive tía.
Dolores: I think the majority of the fandom has agreed that Dolores is a daddy's girl- and I completely agree. However she of course loves each of her parents. Mida specifically doted a lot on her when she was younger- having been their first child. She'd often sing to her- writing her own little songs for her daughter. After Dolores got her gift it was a nice thing for the young girl to focus on- her mother singing. Unfortunately getting her gift, like with many of the madrigals, forced Dolores to grow up too soon. She's often a bit protective over her mother, due to things she's heard over time. Armida mostly dislikes the fact that Dolores feels the need to protect her- as she should be the one protecting her.
Little bonus- Armida despises Mariano at first. She disliked him when he was with Isa, not because she knew Isa didn't actually want to marry him (though she has suspected maybe something was up, if she had known that straight up I don't imagine she'd be able to keep quiet about it.) She's- in general- overprotective when it comes to any of the kids dating. She does, however, come around to him.
Luisa: With Luisa there isn't too much to say. Like Pepa and Félix, Armida treats each of Julieta's girls like her own kids,and Luisa is no exception. She used to read or sing to her each night as a kid, as she did with all of them. Each grandkid grew up with at least one song or story before bed, and sometimes even as adults or teenagers they still request it. But as with most of the kids, as Luisa grew up she stopped having time for things like that. Still Armida is always ready to sing or read to her once again- no matter how old she is.
Camilo: Camilo and Armida have very similar senses of humor at times, which means they make for quite the pair. The two of them sometimes pull little pranks around the house, nothing too much of course- after all she's still his mother and won't let him get away with everything, but he still gets away with more with her then he does with Félix or Pepa. Though being fifteen he doesn't spend as much time with his mom as he did at one point in his life- he still won't deny he loves her very much.
Mirabel: Pre movie, Armida would try her best to make Mirabel feel just as special as the rest of the family, but being busy and slightly stressed she could only do so much for the girl. Still, she did what she could when she could. She started to teach Mirabel embroidery after her failed gift ceremony to try to distract the little girl and make her feel better, she didn't expect her to pick up on it- but she's very proud of how far she's come. She's quite proud of the young woman in general.
Antonio: the baby of the family, he is absolutely Armida’s weakness. She has the hardest time saying no to him, much like others in the family. The fact that he looks so much like Félix really does not help- luckily Pepa and Félix are a bit better with saying no to him. She worried a lot about him, and his gift. Part of her had hoped that maybe he wouldn't get a gift, since she's seen how sometimes the gifts the family have can really feel more like curses, and he's only five- but luckily he gets a gift he really enjoys, one that she herself had wished for a lot as a child, one that doesn't seem like it will put immense amount of pressure on her baby boy. She enjoys learning what some of his animal friends are thinking, and reading them all to bed. (Sometimes she spoils some of his animals.. she can't help it)

Last night's episode was so good! I missed Laudna, Ashton and Orym so bad and I am LOVING these new characters at the table!
I wasn't sure about Deni$e at first, but seeing her kick ass and being so nice to Orym and crew I'm starting to grow on her. She gives off that cool aunt/mom of the group vibe, keeping everyone in check. Her talk with Orym was kinda sweet and I can see her being the one who hugs him telling him he's doing good while strangling anyone who hurts him at the same time.
As far as Bor'dor, I love him! He is just a regular guy with the looks of Bruno Madrigal and the personality of a dog who is scared and needs a hug. I loved him being scared shitless of Lauda's form of dread and Pate. Him trying to shoot lightning at Denise when she snuck up on him? Priceless! He's also a Divine Soul Sorcerer, I looked it up because they are sorcerers that can heal, and even though everyone is saying they have no healers he's going to come in clutch with his healing spells. I feel like there's more to him than he's letting on, but maybe for a reason. The way he spoke of his mother leaving when he was young, being a simple farmer/ sheep herder, and the way he got these powers for no reason is very reminiscent of Imogen. What if he is Ruidusborn and doesn't know?
Prism Grimpoppy is so damn cute I love everything about her! Her design, her "doesn't go out much" librarian girl personality, her Zazu voice talking book, her raven familiar, her magic coming in clutch in that fight(three nat 20s guys!) I already see a ship between her and Bor'dor, just a hunch but we'll see. And she's a member of the Cobalt Soul?
That moment of Ashton comforting Laudna was so sweet and he made wonderful points. They may not be able to save the world, but they are enough to save their friends. And the whole dead bodies in the hole and making them talk running gag was hilarious!
Can't wait to see what these guys get into next few episodes!
Edit: Bor'dor you evil mother f**ker...😒

Hi there. I really like your fics, (specially the hogwarts legacy and the Encanto ones) so can I ask you for an Encanto fic in which M!reader (or GN!reader if you want more people to feel included) struggles to control their gift which is manipulating any forms of fire. Abuela gets mad for the chaos they have caused and the people are scared of them.
The reader is feeling really bad because they feel that their gift can only cause destruction but then Bruno appears and comforts them and tell them that all of the people are afraid of him too and that the gift they have is truly wonderfull.
If this doesn't bother you can you make this before the events of the movie? Maybe the reader can be still a child who got their gift not so long ago. And also that their mother is Pepa.
Thank you so much and sorry if my explanation was so long and impossible to understand. English isn't my first language. Have a nice day/ night!!
A/N: Thank you so much anon! So sorry for the delay, I ended up with chickenpox for the past few weeks and it is has taken me a while to recover. Hope you enjoy!

child!Madrigal reader x Bruno Madrigal (platonic!)
Tumblr media
The whole village was a flurry with anticipation. There was to be a celebration in the village square and the entire Madrigal family was helping with the decorations and preparations. Your cousin Isabela had created the most beautiful flower decorations, and you took one of the flowers in your hand to smell the sweetness of it. A little bit of pollen got into your nose and… “Achoo!” You sneezed, triggering your gift to set the poor, unsuspecting flower aflame.
“Ah! No, no, no!” You muttered, as you tried to stamp the flames out. In your panic, you only made the fire worse as you slowly set alight to ALL the decorations. Soon, half the village square was up in flames. Villagers started running around screaming, pushing and shoving as they tried to get away. Some of the village children ran up towards you before they spotted the flames coming from your hands. “Ah! Monster!” They screamed, running in the opposite direction to you.
Your mother, Pepa, saw the chaos happening. Her eyes narrowed as she saw that you were in the centre of it all. The sky darkened and rain began to pour from the sky, as lightning flashed dangerously and the loud rumble of thunder signified how terribly angry she was with you. “Oh no…” You whispered to yourself, as she came over to you, agonisingly slowly. Luckily, the intense rain was able to douse your flames, including the ones still hovering above your hands.
“Y/N!” A shriek of anger comes from the edge of the village square. You turn to see your Abuela coming towards you, her face in a vicious snarl. “How could you? You’ve destroyed everything your family has worked so hard on today!”
You sniff, tears threatening to fall. “I’m sorry… I didn’t mean to, I couldn’t… control it.” Your chin wobbles, as Abuela yanks your arm to drag you back to Casita. Your family follows behind you, glaring daggers into your back. “I don’t want to hear it, Y/N.” Abuela shakes her head. “You have created absolute chaos, frightened the villages and disappointed your family. You must control your gift, or you cannot go out of Casita into Encanto.”
You gasp in shock, blinking rapidly as the tears mix in with the rain coming from Pepa’s storm. “You’ll lock me away in Casita?” You begin to sob, hugging myself as we trudge up the steps to Casita. As soon as you all get inside, you run up the stairs and run into your room, slamming the door. You flop onto your bed, staring up at the ceiling. It feels like your heart will break.
The door slowly creaked open, and your eyes land on your Uncle Bruno as he slinks into the room. “Y/N, let’s… have a talk.” You sit up, wiping your tears, as you sit cross-legged on your bed. Bruno sits beside you, a hand resting on your shoulder. “I know what it is like. To have a gift that causes fear in other people.” He says, as you look up at him, listening intently.
“People have a tendency to be… afraid of what they don’t understand. Now, you and I… we both have powerful gifts. Capable of great things… but also capable of causing a lot of damage.” You look down, sniffling, as you hug your pillow. “They see that power, and they are afraid. They don’t take the time to understand it.” Bruno adds, sighing as he looks down at you. “I know it seems tough right now, that no one will be able to see who you are, past the big scary fire…”
“They are so frightened of me… but it isn’t my fault, I can’t control it!”
“You will, with time. And when you can, they will love you for your gift. I think it is pretty neat, honestly.” Your face lights up. “Really?”
“Well, for a start, you can create a bonfire any time you want, and then we can toast marshmallows. Or when it is super dark, and you can just flick your hand and light us a torch? Yeah… your gift is awesome.” His words make you smile for the first time, the candles in your room start to burn a bit brighter.
“You keep your chin up, kiddo. Don’t listen to the others… listen to your Uncle Bruno.” You smile, feeling the room become warmer from the heat of your flames again.
“Thanks, Tío.”

Sooo, what if the Madrigals were a travelling circus?
Like, say Alma and Pedro were performers but from different circus families. Alma was a stunt woman/did very daredevil things and Pedro simply was a trapeze artist.
It was common for her and his family to compete against each other in different areas of the town they lived in. Their families knew each other pretty well, basically frenemy families.
Alma and Pedro were enemies to frenemies, frenemies to friends, then friends to lovers. After they became lovers (and married), they convinced their respective families to actually form one whole circus together.
After a WHOLE LOT of convincing their parents, they agreed, and became known as "Circo de magia familiar" (Circus of family magic). Everyone tried to get along the best they could and ended up pretty comfortable with each other.
Their big circus actually became more well known by half of Colombia and people started coming from all over the country. The whole Madrigal and Luz family became popular in under five years.
(I HC Alma's last name is Luz)
But with fame...comes its cons. Let's just say not everyone liked the circus family and well...you know what happened. The whole circus tent, train...just everything was destroyed.
You see, Alma and Pedro's family were full of bizarre people. Think the greatest showman if you've seen it. If not, think the bearded lady, muscle man, conjoined twins, etc.
So, people being people...yeah.
Alma was left with her triplets but thankfully a miracle happened and most of her and Pedro's family was still there. In the blink of an eye, both sides of the family were protected by a large circus tent.
Possibly like this (just without the balloons):
Tumblr media
And on the side of the tent, appeared a long train with lots of colors and warmth surrounding it. You can see the towers (top parts) of the tent as different rooms or areas like a house. Like Casita, but a tent.
Alma's remaining family: Her two (conjoined) aunts Maya and Sophia, her Tio Bernardo, her mother Dulce, younger cousin (eight) Jorge, her triplets, and her dog Chispa.
Pedro's remaining family: His parents Viva and Pepe, his sister Acacia and brother Julian, and his abuela carmen.
The whole family felt unsafe staying in the town they were in, so they decided to become a travelling circus. They had a train, why not go places with it? So, they took down the tent and hopped in the train, which is also like Casita. And also bigger on the inside.
Bruno gets his gift and acts as a fortune teller. He also helps come up with storylines for the performers to act. Julieta gets her gift and only uses her magic for her family. She does bake some snacks for the audience to enjoy though. Pepa gets her gift of indestructibility and becomes just like her mother with daredevil stunts.
(Fun fact: Pepa's concept version was actually supposed to have a gift of indestructibility, so I put that in here.)
Pepa and Julieta met their husbands by performing a few nights in their town. So, whenever they had the opportunity to stop in that exact town once in a while, the girls would visit them until eventually they got married.
The grandkids come along, and all the gifts are the same except for Dolores's, she gets the gift of playing whatever instrument she puts her hands on. She often helps the band out if one extra player who couldn't make it.
She also has a way to hear music from afar. One day in her tweens she heard a boy playing the guitar and singing, she followed the sound, and met Mariano.
And to Dolores' luck, his grandmother applied to the Circus as tightrope girl. She was pretty agile and knew ballet, so balancing wasn't that hard for her.
(There are also some other people who joined the circus. It's like a little village inside the tent/train. Mostly people who are seen as "freaks")
Mirabel doesn't have a gift, but she's still included in everything that's family. She's even learning how to do trapeze like Pedro did and scary stunts like Alma.
And she doesn't quite care that she doesn't have one either, most people in her abuela and abuelo's side of the family don't have gifts.
The way the family navigates shows is by holidays. Shows are 6 days before the exact holiday. On the exact holiday, everyone takes a break and celebrates it.
The most common ones they celebrate are Halloween, Christmas, Dia de los muertos, etc.
Everyone is happy in this au (I've been writing angst too much, and I need a break). Ok small very minuscule angst:
Alma doesn't like sitting in new towns no longer than a week at best, she's still a little traumatized from what happened so she doesn't like staying in places too long. She's a little afraid of that incident happening again.
EVERYONES HAPPY LETS GOOOOO
Love Austin where basically no one is sad or just in a state of paranoia. Love that, their so cool <333 personally i don't like tgsm but this au is so cool. Like it just reminds me of this one memory I've always had about going to the circus when I was younger.
And Alma's fear is warranted. And she doesn't take it to an extreme degree. Very reasonable, and I can get behind that.
LOVE THEM <33

Happy Pride Month to the entire community! To those who are out and rightfully loud about their identity. To those who can only celebrate in online spaces. To those who are not safe to come out. To those who don’t feel a need to be ‘out.’ To those who embrace specific labels. To those who cast labels aside. To those who are struggling with their identity. Pride Month is for all of us.
I was 13 when I figured out that I was queer, and 14 when I decided to put my first label on it by outting myself to my friends, and I immediately wanted to take it back because of how quiet the room got. I kept my label of being bi to myself after that. But even after clutching that title close to my heart, for the longest time, I felt that it still didn’t quite encompass how I felt. I never obsessed over boys (or girls) the way my friends did. I never got crushes on people. And whenever someone did approach me with romantic pursuit or was giving that kind of vibe, I always felt sick to my stomach. I thought that maybe I was just scared of romance because it had never happened to me. I thought maybe this is just how everyone feels but they manage to power through. I thought maybe I was broken.
It was only this past January that it finally clicked, and it was by getting an ao3 comment, of all things. It was from someone who shared and reacted to a passage I had written inadvertently resonating with their own romantic attraction. The idea of being demi-romantic had been slowly growing on me as I wrote my fic, but hearing it from another person and how much they related to my own feelings I had given to a (very self-insert) character validated those feelings tenfold. It was no longer just me weaving in my personal hang-ups in to a fic, it was something that even just one other person could understand. I wasn’t alone.
Yes, it does feel a little silly to say that writing a Bruno Madrigal x Reader fic helped me become more comfortable and validated in my sexuality and identity, but here we are.
Once again, happy Pride! This blog has always been and will continue to remain a safe place for the entire LGBTQ+ community. Remember to celebrate with love, joy, passion, acceptance, and above all else, kindness 💖

sleep pile with bruno and his nieces and nephews!
Thank you for the request 🥺 Somehow this turned out to be over 1,000 words! Here’s the AO3 link!
...
Duerme bien
“But we should—“
“Leave him there. Good idea.”
“Not what I was going to say!”
“Whaddya mean? We’re practically twins! We finish each otherrr’s…”
“Like I’d ever fall for that.”
“Hey. What’re you guys just, standing there for?”
Mirabel and Camilo startle at the voice behind them.
“Luisa! Keep your voice down, okay,” Mirabel hisses. “It’s Tío Bruno.”
The tall young woman crosses the courtyard and gazes in the direction her sister has indicated with puckered lips. Her powerful body is immediately tense, ready to spring forward and pluck their tío out of whatever situation he’s landed in. The instant she sees him, though, she gives a low little laugh.
“Oh, he’s sleeping.”
“Yeah. On the floor. Just. Dead to the world, right there.” Camilo, heaping on the obvious statements.
“Which is why we should move him to the couch!”
“He looks… comfortable?” Luisa shifts from one foot to the other. “Haven’t you seen this before?” The younger kids shake their heads. “He used to do it a lot. Before he, uh, left. I remember seeing him asleep on the floor, or like, in a corner somewhere. Mamá said that as long as he wasn’t in danger, wasn’t going to fall or get stepped on or anything, it was okay to let him be. Said he needed the rest.”
She doesn’t mention the part where she’d plunk down in front of Bruno, a doll and stuffed animal in tow, or sometimes blocks. Or that she’d sit with him until he woke up (once or twice prodding him awake herself). Then her tío would blink at her through those ever sleepless eyes, never upset with her, not even if she roused him sooner than he’d wanted. Just a crooked smile and a bleary but tender, “Buenas, Luisita.”
Camilo is gesturing at the man’s form in the center of the living room. “See? I was right. Also, wow, fu—ay! Wh—“
“Shh. I still think we should move him.” Mirabel’s brow is furrowed.
“…What if he wakes up?”
“Yeah. And anyway, he’s probably too heavy for us n–ow! Stop pinching me, Mirabel!”
“He’s not!” Mirabel says, while Luisa crosses her arms, biceps bulging. “And I won’t, because you keep being an—“
“Let him stay there.”
All three of them jump in spite of the sound of a well-practiced whisper beside them. Turning their heads in unison, they see Dolores peeking around the threshold at their passed-out uncle.
“He’s still lighter than you, cabeza gorda.” She adds, humming, lest she squander the opportunity to defend Bruno and jab back at her brother, who simply shrugs, even as he fixes her with a too-wide smirk.
Looking back at Mirabel, he says, “Our majority and our seniority reign!”
Mirabel is familiar enough with their mothers’ and Bruno’s banter as triplets to know it’s hopeless to argue that Camilo being two months and one week older than her totally does not count as seniority. Still, the words chafe.
“Well, unfortunately for you, primo, brains beat age,” she counters. Smiling at her own private triumph. “You guys, come on! Dolores, don’t worry, we won’t wake him.”
“Oh. No, it’s not that–“
“¡Permiso!”
As if on cue, the quiet, piping voice of the youngest Madrigal sends the four bigger bodies shuffling. They watch the boy’s curly head bob toward them—the rest of him is nearly obscured by the thick woolen blanket he’s hugging to his torso—and as he weaves through and on into the room.
Antonio had been the first to stumble upon Bruno like this, after consulting the rats over his whereabouts (“I need to find your mamá,” is how he framed it). It was seeing his tío fast asleep on the floor that made the boy shelve his pursuit of story time in favor of the next most logical thing.
Sure, the kid may have gotten distracted by his toucan friend along the way, but he’s back now! And once he reaches his destination he promptly arranges the blanket in a pile next to Bruno, plopping down on his side and snuggling his cheek against the man’s pudgy belly.
The sight makes Dolores and Mirabel grin and Luisa’s lower lip quiver.
“Looks like Toñito’s found a middle way.” Camilo arches an eyebrow.
No one is at all fazed when Mirabel darts away, skirt fluttering. Nor when they hear a few muffled thumps somewhere above them, followed by the sound of her shushing herself. Within moments she’s at the living room entrance again, heaving blankets and pillows at the others (Casita had to have helped with the load), and bounding ahead, lightly, with hers. She motions c’mon just as she’s starting to lay out her blanket in order to curl around her little primo, who wiggles his fingers at her.
“His tummy keeps making noises,” Antonio whispers, stifling a sleepy giggle.
Mirabel’s mouth forms into an o-shape. To her right, she catches a glimpse of Luisa settling on her quilt above Bruno’s head. “Maybe it’s better not to lie on it, hombrecito…”
“It’s okay,” Dolores says with an unconscious tilt of her head, from where she’s making a spot for herself. “Tío ate a little over an hour ago. He’s just slow to digest.” A satisfied Antonio mushes his whole face into Bruno’s soft stomach.
“Hey, save some room for your big brother.”
The teenager has shape-shifted into a… smaller version of himself—a bit smaller than Antonio, even. Nudging in between Dolores and their tío, he steals the former’s pillow so he can roll onto it, and rests his head opposite his brother’s. After a second or two of mild contemplation, he pulls an expression that reads not bad and gives an exaggerated yawn.
Pepa and Félix’s eldest shakes her head. Then her eyes flick off to the left… barely catching the shadow moving past the room.
The last things Dolores sees before she lies down beside Bruno are Luisa curved in an arc over him, body completely slumped and a gentle smile playing on her lips; and Mirabel rubbing circles into Antonio’s back as he drifts off, trying to fight the same fate…
In due time, the air turns fragrant with the scent of various wildflowers. Isabela slips into the room, a rolled blanket in the crook of her elbow, and conjures crowns for each of her family members. (No outrageous blooms, though she considers making an exception for Camilo.) When she’s finished putting the final touches on Bruno’s clovers, she claims the space by her youngest sister.
“Duerme bien,” she murmurs, letting her forehead rest against the already slumbering girl’s shoulder.
Everything falls silent.
Maybe he would have moved earlier. Coughed, or something. But, oh, these kids…
Bruno allows one eye to open a crack, then the other. Gingerly, he extracts his rather stiff arm out from under Mirabel, giving it the tiniest stretch and twist before placing his hand on Antonio’s head.
He smiles, and closes his eyes once more.
. . .

Miracles Plus AU: Mirabel
I’m gonna be honest… I did not expect her to win the poll. (Isabela, Camilo and Bruno tend to be more popular). But it’s a nice surprise.
~~~~~~
AU - starts in January 1962.
Mirabel is twenty-six when the AU starts. And she hasn’t grown at all. The rest of the family are taller than her. She doesn’t like talking about it. Her height isn’t important. In fact, stop brining it up.
You won’t believe how many people mistake her for her mother. Though Mirabel has partially not helped herself in taht department - a lot of her clothes are her mother’s old ones, and even after she’s embroidered them and taken them in to fit herself, the older generation of Encanto still recognise them as Julieta’s.
(Basically just Julieta’s concept art, to be honest).
As one of the two Madrigal kids who aren’t yet in a relationship, she is one of the most desirable brides. And is constantly being chaperoned by one of her family members (particularly Dolores) to try get her chatting to possible suitors.
If you know someone who is interested please let Dolores know—
She is currently trying to keep a low profile in preparation for the first gift ceremony of the new generation. She may or may not be planning on hiding out with Agustín’s parents until it has passed.
Because you can suppress the trauma for the past ten years, but it doesn’t magically disappear.
Feel free to ask questions in asks or comment below - whatever you feel comfortable doing.
Miracles Plus AU - Profiles
Mirabel (you’re here). Dolores.
I Finally Watched Encanto
And it was very underwhelming. I don't get what the hype was about. It was mid at best. The best thing about it was probably the visuals. Oh, I loved the variety of skin tones! Usually, I don't care about skin colour in movies but for some reason, it stood out to me in this one. The intro and outro scenes were good too.
I am not a film expert so I can't convey what made the film fall flat for me. But here are some things that I found lacking:
The music is not memorable and I found it hard to immerse myself in it. I absolutely hated Surface Pressure. Some parts of We Don't Talk About Bruno were nice to listen to but it still wouldn't make the top 10 of my Disney songs list. It's not a song I would sing to myself. I can't even remember any of the lyrics besides the title namesake. I think my favourite piece was the Caterpillar song that played for Abuela Alma and Pedro. Maybe partly because it's in Spanish so I have lower expectations for it lol. Since I barely speak Spanish and all.
The family members kind of felt like plot devices? That just appeared when the plot called for it? I am not sure how to explain it but the main culprit for me was Isabela. She was basically a nothing character who was just there in the background being a prima donna and rolling her eyes. Then once Mirabel supposedly has to confront her, she has all this major development in like 2 mins and finally cracks? Luisa was way better because I saw her insecurities and how weakness made her feel worthless throughout the movie. I don't understand why Cousin Camilo was needed in the movie. His dad was good enough comic relief. I loved Antonio at the start and his relationship with Mirabel. I wanted to see that relationship more in the movie so much. But then even he began to feel like a cheap plot device.
How Bruno was handled was unsatisfying. The whole plot about Bruno just felt contrived. Bruno is supposed to be the family undesirable who no one talks about...but Dolores knew about him the entire time? The ending with Abuela and Bruno felt so rushed too. I thought the climax would have involved Bruno more but he just showed up at the end and now everything is ok? Bruno was just a way to show Mirabel how special she was and once that happened, everything about Bruno was wrapped up in a neat tidy bow.
The plot development was poor and felt like a plot in an adventure game. Gave me similar vibes to the plot in The Rise of Skywalker. How Luisa just happens to know Mirabel's starting point. How Mirabel just happens to find Bruno when the dude has been living unnoticed for how long. Even the ending with the butterfly almost made me roll my eyes.
The powers felt underdeveloped. I don't understand the limits of them and why only the Madrigals have them. Well, I guess it makes sense for the family to have the miracle to themselves as a kind of comfort for Pedro dying...like men don't sacrifice themselves for their families nobly all the time. How much weight can Luisa lift? What is the range of Pepa's powers? Mirabel said in her song that her mood affects the weather but the movie mainly shows the weather just affects her individual space. How do they control them? What if someone abuses their powers?
Anyway, its not a bad movie but I wouldn't watch it again. I preferred Coco over Encanto. The family relationship felt more developed and the focus was just on the family members relevant to the plot. The Abuela in Coco was more sympathetic and the generational trauma was way more justified there. Plus the music was better and the plot development felt more organic. I would watch Coco again. Encanto is just meh and seems a tad overrated.
I just came up with this slightly angsty but sweet idea about the platonic yandere madrigal family obsessing over a reader that's the child of Bruno.
-Pepa, Julieta and Alma would all be the most protective over them, especially if they looked identical to Bruno.
-Dolores and Mirabel would without a doubt be the best friends of them, Mirabel would know what it's like to feel like an outcast since the people most likely aren't treating the reader very well due to their relation to Bruno. I imagine Dolores would definitely be a great best friend too, she hears everything people say or murmur about them so I imagine she'd be painfully aware of how the people treat reader. Since she's also a platonic yandere in this like the rest of the family I can totally see her blackmailing people with stuff she's heard about them whenever they talk crap about reader.
-Dolores would definitely also be the one to comfort Reader as she can hear their crying from how they're treated every night.
-Bruno would definitely watch over his child in secret, he'd never want to miss even a second of their life
-Julieta would definitely fuss over their injuries, even if it's something like a paper cut. So would Alma and Pepa.
-Isabela would without a doubt nonchalantly roast the crap out of anybody that dares to to think it's a good idea to talk crap about you to her. She'd do it with a tone in her voice that says "I'm better than you and you should know that" all the while subtly roasting them in the process. They'd never recover from it lmao
-Camilo would definitely do his best to make them laugh whenever they're feeling down, he'd shapeshift into various people and do funny impressions of them
-Antonio would be absolutely adorable, he'd totally get his animals to comfort Reader whenever they're feeling down, too.
-I can see Luisa just randomly picking up reader whenever there's a puddle so they won't have to step in the puddle lol.
Dance Macabre (Bruno x Chubby Reader)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Bruno Madrigal hears that there is another seer in town and curiosity gets the better of him. But it turns out there's more than meets the eye with this new person.

Hey guys. I'm back. This was longer than expected, I kept going back and forth on concepts. Anyways I hope you enjoy romancing the rat man himself.
---------------------------------------------------------
Bruno was glad that his family was accepting of him after his disappearance. Though it seemed like not all the village felt the same. No one was outright rude, but he knew. Between visions and whispered words, it was obvious.
So when he first found out about you, he was hesitant. Dolores had heard rumors of a seer setting up camp outside of town. You coming was fine, but a new self-proclaimed seer. This was odd.
Next was Luisa, she came home one day with a love struck look on her face. When her mother asked her about it at dinner, she said she went to the seer. And thanks to her she finally got the courage to confess to her friend. A sweet young girl, who obviously shared the same feelings, but was also to shy to confess.
After word spread about the help she gave the Madrigal family, she was flooded with customers. Everyone and their brother was going to see her. On top of that, they were singing her praises.
He didn't get it. What did she have that he didn't? So realizing that this situation was driving him crazy, he went to see her. After he figured out how to talk one of the kids into joining him. Mirabel was great moral support, but not the most tactful.
“So Tio is there any reason you want to go meet the new seer?”
“I was curious is all.” He trailed off, ringing his hands together. This would have been less nerve wracking with one of his rats. But she had talked him out of bringing any of them. Saying that a lot of people didn't like rats and we didn't want to scare the woman. Still he wished he was petting one of them for comfort.
“Well, I think it's a great idea. You both already have so much in common.” She said with a sly look coming across her face.
“What are you getting at Mirabel.” This conversation was not helping his anxiety.
“Just that, you guys might hit it off.”
“I haven't even met the woman.” He said with a stern look.
They had reached a large tent on the edge of town. A sign staked in the ground said ‘Madam (Y/N)’. Bruno hesitated at the entrance, he had no idea how to announce himself.
Mirabel saw her uncle's struggle and rolled her eyes. She grabbed his hand and shoved through the tent flap.
They where greeted by an unexpected sight. A full figured women was chasing a cat around the room.
“Get back here you demon!” Her round cheeks were flushed red.
Bruno wondered how long she had been chasing the cat. He was brought out of his thoughts by the feline leaping at him. With just enough of a reaction, he managed to catch it. It was only then that he noticed the scarf in it’s mouth.
She came to a sliding stop, mere inches from his nose. Her warm huffing breath hitting his face. She had such enchanting eyes, he found himself lost in them.
“Oh, thank you.” She scooped the bundle from his arms and scolded the cat. “ I’ve told you not to steal my scarfs. I’ll never understand why you’re so obsessed with them.” She took the accessory from it and began to tie the scarf around her head. “Now, how can I…Brunito?”
His eyes widened in shock. “Yes, I mean, have we met before?” He was sure he would remember someone so bewitching.
“Not quite. I had a session with some of your family. You came up a lot.” Her inviting manner was intoxicating.
So much so that he had forgotten Mirabel was there, until she cleared her throat. “Tio Bruno, I realized that Abuela needed my help this afternoon. It was great seeing you again Madam (Y/N).” She rushed from the tent.
Wait, she had been here before? Bruno had a suspicious that there may have been ulterior motives for her agreeing to come along. Suddenly he felt a warm hand on his arm, he jolted in surprise. Then blushed when he saw the gentle reassuring smile on her face.
“Would you join me for afternoon tea?” She said in a soft tone. “I may even have some sweets from my travels to go with it.”
He hesitated, glancing to her table he saw a steaming cup of tea, so they had interupted. But on the other hand, it would be rude to not accept an invitation. So he nodded and sat at the table as she looked for snacks.

Bruno wasn’t sure he could remember enjoying the company of someone outside of his family. He had the most pleasant afternoon with you. The conversation flowed. When there was a silent moment, it didn’t feel awkward.
The relief he felt when neither of you brought up your profession was also great. It was as if you both understood the weight of the job and kept it out of the conversation.
He couldn't remember a more pleasant afternoon.

As he returned home, he didn't expect the onslaught of questions he would get at the door.
“What did they do?”
“Have tea.”
“What did they talk about?”
“Just general conversation.”
“What did he think of her?”
“She's nice.”
It seemed to simmer down after that, until dinner that is. Then the questions started all over again. Though this time he realized something. His sister's were the ones asking the more leading questions. Then the kids would follow from there.
So after everyone had left the table, he stayed to help clean up. Which was when he turned the questions on Julieta. “When did you and Pepa decide to get me to meet the seer?”
Her shoulders dropped and she shook her head. “I should have know you would figure it out hermano. We just want what's best for you.” She reached out for his arm, but he backed away.
“And how is forcing two people into each other’s lives for the 'best’?”
She crossed her arms with a slight frown. “We thought that you would both enjoy each other’s company. You do have a lot in common.”
He wanted to scoff at that. The only thing they had in common was being seers. He was horrible Bruno, the seer of disasters. She was wonderful, so sweet and beautiful. Everyone loves her, for good reason. “Well, she should have a say in it all.”
Her posture became less stiff. “She been asking about you since she found out you were a seer.”
His head shot toward her with wide eyes. “She has.” He said, more breathless than he would like to admit.
“Yes. I think she wanted to meet some one who would understand. You know.”
“Yeah, I guess.” He said with a shrug.
She then pulled him into a tight hug. “So, tell me all about your visit.”

And so the visits for tea continued. A few times a week Bruno would make his way to your tent after lunch. The conversation would flow and the atmosphere was always warm. Her cat would leisurely make her way between either of their laps. He couldn't remember a more peaceful time in his life.
So as he lay awake, one restless night, he started at the moon. Comparing it’s alluring beauty to you. He then realized he was in love with you.

The next time he went for a visit, he hesitated. It felt like the first time he met you all over again. His heart was hammering in his ears, his palms were clammy, and he couldn't stop fidgeting. Would she want to be in a romantic relationship or be friends. His heart stopped at the thought of her wanting to not even be friends. If his feeling drove a wedge between them.
But that faded away when he saw she was taking down her tent.
She heard him come up and turned around smiling. “Hey, I was hoping you'd be by soon. If not i’d have to find your house.” Your smile shifted to something more timid, a look that Bruno wasn’t used to.
“Why are you packing?”
“I’ve out lived my timr in this town. I’m moving on.” She reached out and clasped his hands in his. “I was hoping you would come with me.” Her hands squeezed tighter. “If you want to, that is.”
He thought for a long moment, could he abandon his family again. Then he caressed her hands. “I don’t think I can leave my family. I’m sorry.”
She smiled at him with teary eyes. “It’s OK, I understand. I’m heading West, if you ever want to join me.”
He looked at her, with his own moist stare. “I’ll never forget you.” Then he gave her a strong hug. Both of them holding back unsaid emotions, parted.

The next day he spent in total solitude. Never answering his door or leaving his room. He was miserable. He finally snuck out from hiding to get something to eat, his stomach gnawing at his backbone.
What he didn't expect was for his mother to be waiting for him in the kitchen. She motioned at the chair beside her and he walked over. His shoulders slumped further as he sat, upset at getting caught.
They both sat for a moment, until he finally break the silence. “How long have you been waiting?”
“For as long as I needed to hijo.”
“You didn't have to.”
She gave him a tender look. “I know, but I wanted to. Now tell me what has you holing yourself away.”
He knew it would be a matter of time before someone asked him. So he layed his feelings on the table.
She seemed surprised, then her expression morphed into one of joy. “I’m so happy for you hijo." She became confused. “Why did you not go with her?”
He was stunned. “I only came back. I didn't want to abandon my family again.”
She shook her head with a mournful smile. “No mijo, love for another, doesn't mean loosing the ones you already care for.” She laid a hand on his. “Follow what your heart tells you.”
He nodded and gave her hand a squeeze. “I’ll think about it.” Then he got a snack and went back into hiding.

In another day, he was giving the Madrigal household a teary goodbye. Everyone was sniffling, but smiling. He then headed out, with a overloaded pack, full of many traveling gifts.
Mid day of his trek, he noticed an odd sight. A tent with the sign ‘Madam (Y/N)’ staked outside. His slow pace disappeared as he raced towards the familiar sight. Calling out as he sped up, he was elated when you poked your head out of the entrance.
You grinned and race over to meet him. Colliding into an embrace, you both grip at each other fiercely. Drawing back, you grabbed his cheeks and pull him in for a kiss. Backing away, your not sure who's more shocked by your actions.
“I’m sorry. I was so excited to see you. I should have asked before.” You ramble, but he stopped you with another kiss.
“It’s fine.” He said with a smile. “How are you only this far?”
“I thought you might need a few days to decide.” She said with a knowing look.
With a shake of his head he kissed her again.
