congrats on surviving episode two of next gen! updated rankings can be found here. no eliminations were announced in this episode, however the next episode’s teamwork evaluation will be the first elimination round. participants in the bottom ranks have been warned that they may not survive to the third episode if they do not show marked improvement.
for participating in the auditions and appearing in the second episode of NEXT GEN, all wannabes who submitted their participation may collect points as outlined on this spreadsheet. points were awarded based on the writing requirements submitted and the optional extra threads. no verification is required; you may link back to this post on your spreadsheets.

pas de deux VIII [Bruno Bucciarati x Reader | Risotto Nero x Reader]
[SFW]
AO3 VERSION
PREVIOUS CHAPTER | NEXT CHAPTER
You’ve worked your whole life to earn a place in the Rome ballet company, yet everyone seems to work against you.
Between the stress of working to match the other dancers to unforeseen romantic issues, problems just seem to pile up.
While your day was busy, your evening was expectantly boring. Risotto did not notice your apprehension, though it’d be easier to say he didn’t care.
Tonight, you took your time. You practiced a mindful breathing exercise you found on the internet while lacing your shoes. It didn’t make you feel better, you supposed it made you mindful of your breathing, whatever that meant.
Risotto wasn’t any easier on you, despite your sour mood. After the third repeat, “Giselle wouldn’t look so bored.” There came a point where you had to very much hold back from hitting him.
The fluorescent light above the vending machines buzzed garishly. It was noticeable, annoying. Digging in your duffel bag for another euro, you thought for a moment about calling Bruno. After buying your granola bar, you sat down and opened his contact.
You took a deep breath, then pressed ‘call’. You counted the rings.
“Hello?” He sounded busy, probably making dinner.
“Hi, Bruno,” You sounded tired.
“Good evening,” Something made noise in the background of his call, a metallic clink, he is cooking. “Are you still at the company?”
“Mhm- I just wanted to,” You weren’t sure why you wanted to call. You guessed to apologize, but you can’t quite place why you should be the one apologizing. He accused you of sleeping around. You weren’t actually doing that. “Uhm, I wanted to apologize.” You paused, biting your granola bar, “For today, you know, blowing up at you.”
“You were frustrated, I understand.” He returned. “I was hurt, but I’ll be,” Now, he paused, you heard him doing something, but not enough to place what he was doing. “Fine.”
He didn’t sound like he’d be fine, he still sounded mad.
Your head held up by your hand, the call was silent. Neither of you had anything to say. You wanted to cry.
“Bruno, I’ll let you go. I’m sorry for bothering you.” You hung up before he could respond. Tightening your eyes shut, you thought for a moment if this would be the end of your friendship with him. This sucked.
Standing up, you leaned against the wall. You just wanted this to be over.
Your session with Risotto ended at eleven again that night. He was quiet when you two parted, throwing only a quick “Good job tonight,” your way before preparing to leave. Something told you it was just something he said to sound polite, maybe it was the endless complaints while dancing. You left without saying goodbye. Maybe putting some distance between you and Risotto would clear things up with Bruno.
As you walked out, you passed Trish Una in the hall. You would’ve thought a busy woman like her would be out by now, partying or studying. Through your tiredness, you admired her dedication. Upon seeing her features scrunched up in annoyance, you decided against saying hello.
Trish walked with conviction. After the rumor of Signore Nero sleeping with a dancer spread, it ate her up. She began to doubt its implausibility. Pushing through the door and into the studio, she stopped in the doorway. It was all her friends talked about this afternoon. Every few hours, new information seemed to come out. It’s only been a few days, yet it enticed the corps de ballet enough to keep it up.
“Whatever you’re doing with that girl needs to stop, like, now.” Trish had no sympathy in her voice; if there was a problem, she was eager to get it over with.
Risotto stood to his full height, holding his shoes from his duffel bag. He kept his back to Trish, hiding the quick, surprised reaction he gave. “I’m only doing my part to help a dancer with potential.” He thanked God his voice remained level.
Trish rolled her eyes. “Right, because that is something you do all the time. Help people.” Her comments on his reputation were gained honestly. Many new dancers left, citing him as their reason. “Either you need to stop meeting with her in such a public place or you need to open the practice to others.”
Risotto pulled his slippers off, huffing at Trish’s need to make commentary. There is no way he would essentially hold another full lesson that late. Meeting you someplace else wouldn’t be off the table, though, but he quickly put the thought out of his mind. That was a quick lane to getting involved, something he was trying to avoid at all costs. “Would your father be happy knowing you’re meddling in gossip?”
“I don’t care.” She crossed her arms over her chest. “I have to work with these people and your sex life is distracting them.” Her tone peaked with contempt. With one final wave of attitude, “Fix it.”
His hands massaged his temples. Of course the dancers, desperate for something to talk about on their breaks, would create this narrative.
Trish left without hearing whatever rebuke he had planned. She did what she needed to do, warned him before it got too far and found out the truth. She was satisfied with herself, happy to have put an unnecessary rumor to rest.
Shutting the door behind you, you collapsed into your apartment. The night was humid, a characteristic of the time of year. Taking off your clothes felt like peeling a grape.
You fought the urge to call Bruno the entire walk home and now that you were back, you finally felt like you didn’t have to. You’d get to decompress and not think about him until the morning. Even though his frustrated words rung through your brain, reminding you that you should be ashamed of the accusations. Reminding you that Bruno was disappointed in you.
Changing into your pajamas as you threw your things in a laundry hamper, you distracted yourself by checking social media.
You turn to start the shower, leaving your phone on the counter. Your aching thighs scream at you while you tiptoe on the tile. Steam begins to fill the bathroom. Your text tone chimes behind you. No one important would text you now, it was too late for that mess. Stepping into the shower, you disregarded the text completely.
Thus, forgetting about it until the morning.

On the latest episode of gracie thinks she’s an rph i’ve created a MASTERLIST OF LATINE FIRST NAMES. This is just my preference but i like naming my characters something based in reality so these are pulled from my high school yearbook (i live in a majority hispanic city) so it’s less about origins and more about what hispanic parents were naming their kids during 1996-2000 and honestly the baseline is really if it sounds nice with spanish vowels it goes.

Super Bowl LIII prop bets: A look at the bizarre novelty wagers for the big game
youtube
Some people will tell you that prop bets are for suckers. And those people suck.
Prop betting has become one of the most popular wagering options for both squares and sharps alike, according to sister site Covers.com.
When it comes to the professional bettors – those fabled Vegas wiseguys – they don’t care what the bet is. Their biggest concern is value: do they have a significant edge over the book to make money on that bet?
Whether that’s on the Super Bowl pointspread or time of the first score of the game, money won is money won. That said, there are “smarter” prop bets to make, like handicapping prop odds for things you can actually research and quantify.
You can crunch the numbers around the longest made field goal for Super Bowl LIII and have an educated prediction. You can’t, however, accurately forecast the fashion habits of Maroon 5 lead singer Adam Levine and know whether he’ll wear a hat during the halftime show. I mean you can try. And boy do we try.
For all of you Super Bowl bettors — the so-called suckers — who love those unpredictable and often absurd novelty prop options: we salute you. That’s true gambling. Let’s do the impossible.
*Note: Most novelty props that can’t be officially graded in a box score are not allowed to be offered in legal sports betting states like Nevada or New Jersey. These types of props are only available online or in Europe sportsbooks. If you can’t legally take part in those markets, these predictions should simply be treated as entertainment only.
COIN TOSS
The same folks that poo-poo prop betting are the same ones that crap all over wagering on the coin toss.
Yes, it’s an actual coin toss with no way to predict what will happen. Pure 50/50. But, it’s also a coin toss, so there’s no outside factors like weather or in-game injuries that will spoil a play you thought you handicapped perfectly. Just let her rip.
Another reason to love betting on the coin toss: it’s the miso soup of Super Bowl bets. It’s quick, and early on, and you don’t have to go nuts and bet a ton of money on it. The coin toss is just a little taste to warm up your gut for the all-you-can-eat feast that is Super Sunday.
As it stands, Tails holds a 27-25 edge over Heads in Super Bowl coin toss history. Tails had hit in four straight Big Games before Heads showed up last year at Super Bowl LII. Is Heads due to come up again in order to balance out the universe or is Tails still the hot pick? Reminder: it’s a coin toss, so don’t lose too much sleep.
A couple other coin toss trends to consider (but are actually pure fluff): the NFC has won 18 of the past 21 Super Bowl coin flips but lost last year when the AFC Champion Patriots took the toss. That was just the second time in New England’s eight Super Bowl showings under Bill Belichick that the Pats won the toss – and they lost both of those games (2012, 2018).
Again, it’s a coin toss. Have fun.
PREDICTION: Tails (-105)
NATIONAL ANTHEM LENGTH
Motown legend Gladys Knight has the honors of singing the National Anthem at Super Bowl LIII. The 74-year-old songstress from Atlanta has an Over/Under of 107 seconds (could vary per sportsbook), which is well below last year’s 120-second total for pop singer Pink, who clocked in at 112 seconds and cashed in for Under bettors.
Going back over the past 28 Super Bowls, the average length of the anthem is about 115 seconds but recent singers have really milked the spotlight with longer versions of the “Star-Spangled Banner”. Before Pink, three consecutive singers went over two minutes with their anthem performance and looking back at those past 28 Super Bowls, just seven versions of the anthem stayed below the current O/U of 107 seconds.
I did some YouTube sleuthing and found a recording of Knight singing the anthem back in 1991, with her finishing with a time around 105 seconds. That was 27 years ago. According to my fellow Covers Live Wire host and professional stage performer/singer Maddy Palmer, Knight’s age and breathing control have her leaning toward the Under. Maddy believes Knight won’t have the pipes to go all out like some younger anthem singers in the past. She’ll keep it quick and clean.
Good enough for me.
PREDICTION: Under 107 (-115)
HALFTIME SHOW
Is it just me or does Maroon 5 not have enough clout to play the Super Bowl halftime show? Beyoncé, Prince, Paul McCartney, The Rolling “F-ing” Stones, and… Maroon 5. One of these things is not like the others. I guess that’s what you get when every other major musical act passes on the chance due to their stand on the NFL vs. Colin Kaepernick. But I digress.
Props around the halftime show are abundant, with Maroon 5, Travis Scott and Big Boi (God, I’d love an all Outkasts halftime show!) scheduled to appear. As mentioned above, you can wager on whether Levine will sport a hat to start the show or not, but by now that’s standard Super Bowl prop betting fare. I think the real money is in the opening song markets.
Some books have “Moves Like Jagger” as the front runner to kick off the halftime show while other have songs like “One More Night”, “Sugar”, and “Makes Me Wonder” at the top of this prop. You can grab most of these between +300 and +600.
The one trend I’ve noticed in recent Super Bowl halftime shows is a “psych out song” to open. They start playing the tune from one song but then start singing another:
We saw Lady Gaga do this three years ago with “God Bless America” and then jumping into “Poker Face”, Bruno Mars did it in 2014 with a kids choir singing “Billionaire” then he went in with “Locked Out Of Heaven”, and Beyoncé crossed us up with a “Run The World (Girls)”/Vince Lombardi mashup then singing “Love On Top”. Beware of this trend because it causes grading issues with many online books. It’s their prop and their rules, so whatever they think is the first song sung – that’s what you get. Tough tees.
The other trend I’ve picked up on in recent Super Bowl halftime shows is that acts will either open with their latest song – in order to promote the new album – or they’ll swing big with what is considered their greatest hit:
Justin Timberlake went new with “Filthy” right out of the gate last year, Lady Gaga went classic with “Poker Face”, Coldplay went classic with “Yellow”, Katy Perry went new with “Roar”, Bruno Mars went new with “Locked Out of Heaven”, as did the Queen B with “Love On Top”, and Madonna took us back to the classics with “Vogue” in 2012.
Since most of these options pay a larger sum due to the unpredictable nature of this prop, we’re pulling the trigger on three songs to open. Going classic: “This Love”. Going new: “Girls Like You”. And, digging into setlists from their recent concerts: “What Lovers Do”.
PREDICTION: Opening song – This Love (+1,500), Girls Like You (+600), What Lovers Do (+400)
BETTING THE BROADCAST
The great thing about broadcast props is that the game can be an absolute wash and you still have a dog in the fight. And speaking of dogs, did you know there’s an Over/Under prop out there on the number of dogs featured in Super Bowl commercials (5.5)? Gotta go Over, right?
Other broadcast offerings include how many time Tony Romo will correctly calls a play before it happens and will a call Romo correctly predicts finds its way to the endzone? Then you have all of the Over/Under TV appearance props: Giselle 1.5 O/U, Roger Goodell 1.5 O/U, Robert Kraft 2.5, Kylie Jenner 0.5.
There are a ton of these out there but my favorite one – in terms of probability – is will CBS mention the age difference in the two head coaches, Bill Belichick (the evil entity that uses his body as a host is 391 years old but he doesn’t look a day over 66) and Sean McVay (33).
The “Yes” on this prop is priced at -200, which may be a little too rich for the casual fan but this prop is going to hit. You bet $20 to get $10. You’re going to return half of your investment right away. No mutual fund is going to promise that kind of return.
PREDICTION: “Yes” broadcast mentions age difference between Belichick and McVay (-200)
GATORADE BATH
Just because the whistle blew and confetti is flying doesn’t mean the betting fun stops. The postgame is a dog and pony show of unpredictable markets just waiting to be wagered on. You’ve got a ton of President Trump related props (Will he congratulate the winning team on Twitter by midnight ET?) and of course, who will the winning quarterback thank first (God, family, coach, team, fans)?
At the top of that list though is the color of the Gatorade bath. Depending on where you play, the price on colors is all over the place. However, most shops do have water/clear and yellow leading the charge.
Looking back to 2000, this is your Super Bowl Gatorade bath count: Water x 7, Orange x 5, Yellow x 3, Blue x 1, and 4 bone-dry coaches. You had both Water and Orange when the Ravens won in 2013, in case you’re actually counting.
If you like the Patriots, there might be value in no bath – if available at your sportsbook. In Belichick’s five wins, he’s stayed dry in three of those games (thanks to walk-off wins) with Blue and Water as the color of the other two. McVay, on the other hand, got a Water bath in his first win as the Rams’ head coach in Week 1 of the 2017 season.
Seems like H2O is the way to go.
PREDICTION: Water/Clear +360

pas de deux VI [Bruno Bucciarati x Reader | Risotto Nero x Reader]
[SFW]
AO3 VERSION
PREVIOUS CHAPTER | NEXT CHAPTER
You’ve worked your whole life to earn a place in the Rome ballet company, yet everyone seems to work against you.
Between the stress of working to match the other dancers to unforeseen romantic issues, problems just seem to pile up.
Trish’s cigarette hung from her lip as she listened to the other dancers gossip. Her appearance greatly contrasted that at the party the night before; her face showed signs of exhaustion and a hangover. Ballerinas were not permitted to smoke, but that hadn’t stopped any of the girls from doing so on their lunch break.
They spoke, quickly, about many topics. Some pointed out news articles to their wiry, little friends, while others simply gossiped by word of mouth. Trish did not take part in this ritual, too stubborn to engage and far too disillusioned to care. Though, her ears would pick up words of interest when necessary. She was much like her father in that sense.
This afternoon, the girls prattled on about how a famous ballerino’s daughter was put in jail two days ago, how those two dancers from Japan were to get married soon, and how one of the newer company dancers was supposedly sleeping with the ballet master.
That was a word of interest, yes. Trish took the cigarette from her lips, keeping it at knee level between her pointer and middle finger. “What was that?” Her brows creased the middle of her forehead.
“I’m sorry?” The dancer that had mentioned it was bewildered that she was even showing an interest in gossip. The younger prima hardly spoke if it wasn’t a necessity.
“What did you say?” Trish spoke slightly firmer, making it a point that she wanted to hear gossip. Both wildly out of character and not her cup of tea, the other ballerinas paused their conversations to hear the news as well.
“Oh,” The woman laughed, breathlessly and awkwardly, “I had just heard one of the newer members was sleeping with the ballet master.” She croaked like a frog under Trish’s scrutinizing gaze. “I don’t know who, though, no one seems to know which one it is anymore.”
“I hope it isn’t one of the boys.” Another ballerina added, sighing into her palm. “Master Nero is kind of cute, I’d be heartbroken if he were gay or something.” Her friend slapped her arm, then they both laughed.
Trish found this information odd. The conversation continued around her, girls chatting now about which person they found most attractive in the company. Yet, she could only consider how Risotto Nero wouldn’t do something as stupid as that. She had known Signore Nero when he was still a dancer and she was still a child; he worked with, then under, her father for a very long time. He wasn’t the type to seduce a dancer into ruining her career like that.
Evening settled onto the world like a warm blanket. Trish extinguished her cigarette, dropping it in a cup on the windowsill and spitting out the window. Light slowly brightened the city from windows and streetlamps, bouncing off the stone streets and shimmering to the naked eye. The wind slowed down from that afternoon and while it was said that there would be rain, couples still walked hand-in-hand down the street.
Evening for you, however, meant the start of a tumultuous night spent working. You couldn’t go home, eat dinner, and spend the rest of the night lounging about on the couch in your apartment. You had to go dance more than you already have. With a man that you’re certain despises you.
The doors to the company looked more decrepit at night. This was a fact you thought you'd understand, yet as you stood before the large wooden doors, you found yourself shivering. Maybe it was the cooler night air, but something was wrong right now. The vibes felt off. With a start, you pushed them open.
The lights were still on inside. As you walked, you found dancers strewn about the place like dolls. Some slept on their friends’ shoulder, others were arguing over phones or looking up Uber prices. You supposed some dancers stayed later than others. You kept your distance.
Fearful like being caught for a crime you didn't commit, you quietly made your way to the studio room. You opened the door to find your ballet master, mid stretch, in front of the mirror. His form was almost godlike, his flexibility hardly fading with age or lack of practice. You admired in awe for a moment, then cleared your throat. Your phone said 7:02. You hoped you weren’t too late.
He sat up, giving you a quick glance over. You hadn’t kept your leotard on, you thought leggings and a tank top would work fine. He said nothing but his expression wasn’t one you liked. You’d have to get used to it. He stood, clearing the floor so you could change your shoes.
“Wear your pointe shoes. You’ll be en pointe for this.” He stated, his back to you. You were not in the mood to be en pointe, but in this room, whatever the ballet master says, goes. You slid on your shoes, quickly tying the ribbon.
Even without his civilian shoes, Risotto stood at least a head over you. You felt like a child next to him, which was probably how he felt as well, considering how lowly he thought of you. You stood at the ready, in first position, for him to begin his instructions.
“You will be learning the pas de deux from act two of Giselle, understand?” He finally turns to you, watching as you find the center of the studio floor. He finds a similar position behind you.
He says a form, you take it. En pointe, you take little steps backwards, as per his instructions. You knew the Giselle pas de deux, not well but it’s more than nothing. It’s an intimate dance, with lots of lifting and touching your partner. Normally, you’d love to dance the technically difficult piece but with him? You tried to determine his level of seriousness as you finished the move in his arms, hands wrapped at your waist.
You catch the two of you in the mirror, his expression matches yours in it’s solemn nature. You lose sight of yourself as you lift your leg and arms, once again per his instructions. Risotto is quiet for a moment as he spins you, softly. Your head turned away from both him and the mirror, you can’t see his expression anymore, cant check if it's morphed from the sadness he showed to disdain for you. It made you nervous.
“Good,” is the only thing he has said so far, beyond choreography. It imbues something in your chest, whether that be spite or pride is hard to tell anymore. Risotto pushed your torso down, now level with your hips. “Lift your leg higher, straighter.” His voice is quiet. The room is so serene.
You rise back up, your extended leg wraps around his hips and your head falls into the crook of his neck. His firm hand stays at your waist as he flourishes with his free one. You open your eyes again to catch another glimpse in the mirror. He looks so professional, his brows scrunched in the anguish Albrecht felt, lips parted slightly in a frown.
You move away from his chest, extending your leg further. Both his hands on your waist, you move your leg for a moment then return to the ground.
“Ready?” He asks, again, so quietly. You nod, not leaving your position. You know what comes next, you have to nail several lifts, returning to arabesque everytime he sets you down.
Risotto lifts you like you weigh nothing, as you mime a grand jete. He lifts you again, this time completely over his head and you bend your back as much as humanly possible to get your legs as straight as humanly possible. You land in an arabesque.
“Stop.” He lets your waist go. If it weren’t for the balance you spent years perfecting, you would’ve fallen on your ass.
You huffed, slightly, “What was wrong with that? That was the best lift I’ve ever done!”
“No, it was sloppy.” He stands in front of you, between yourself and the mirror. Risotto sighs, he’s tired. “You were so focused on your legs, you forgot every other part of your body.” His tone grew more frustrated as he continued. “Your arms were all over the place. Your bend was too far.” You had to hold back something in you that wanted to punch him.
“So? You can't see my hands and back on the stage, but my legs are on full view.” Your hands flew to your hips. Your own tone suddenly took a frustrated note as well.
He stepped closer to you, emphasizing his words. “So, it’s not correct.”
You bit at the raw flesh of your inner cheek. You were no longer sure if you felt more of a need to storm out or cry. “It was never a problem before.” Your voice firm, your resolve steeled, you felt a wave of confidence flood over you as the words simply left your mouth.
Risotto closed his eyes, “It is now.” Oh, look, there went your confidence, right out the door. He moved back to the center of the floor. “Again. From the top.” You, dejectedly, return to your position and begin again.
He had you do the entire first quarter of the Giselle Act II pas de deux seventeen times. The two minute section felt longer every time you did it. But, each time you did it, he found something different to critique. You think it was the 6th repeat that you caught his eye in the mirror and he had looked away quickly. You were sure you had caught him looking for things to scrutinize.
As even he began to feel tired, the night slowed down. He slowly stopped barking orders at you and actually started to show you what to do. You would stand at the barre, him behind you, and his hands would adjust you slightly.
Finally, the session ended around 11pm. You never wanted to have to do that again, yet somehow you don’t think you’ll get a choice.
You collapsed on to your bed, almost too tired to turn your alarm on early so you could shower in the morning. Sweat could definitely wait for every muscle in your body to stop aching.
The stars shone through the curtain, wind softly touching them and causing a billow across your room. Had you been awake, you would’ve remarked how as a kid you would’ve thought it looked like a dancer’s skirt. It would have been a very creative and astute observation. But, you slept soundly, seeing neither the stars nor the bubbling curtains.
