the gowon glazing is insane…..| 7
YN arrived at practice 15 minutes late because her manager had inadvertently picked her up late. She apologized to everyone as she entered the practice room.
She walked in and bowed to Sunghoon and the choreographer, saying, "Sorry I'm late. My manager kind of picked me up late." She bowed again, feeling embarrassed.
The choreographer rolled her eyes and scolded her, "Are you going to blame something on your manager again tomorrow? I don't tolerate lateness, so be here extra early tomorrow."
YN felt even more embarrassed as Sunghoon stood there expressionless. "I apologize. It won't happen again," she bowed and said.
"Anyway, for your collab stage, we're doing BTS's 'Dynamite.' We'll practice in here for three days, then move to the stage for practice, and finally perform on the following day. Let's get started," the choreographer said, and both Sunghoon and YN nodded in agreement.
During their practice, the choreographer criticized YN for every little thing.
"YN, are you the main dancer of your group?" the choreographer asked.
YN nodded and replied, "Yes, yes, I am." She smiled, but sweat dripped down her forehead.
The lady laughed and said, "I don't know who recruited you or why you auditioned, but you can't dance at all. It's like you're dancing like a clown. Is this a joke to you? You look goofy. I have never seen an idol like you. My seven-year-old son knows this whole choreography and can dance ten times better than you." She semi-yelled at the girl.
YN bowed and said, "I'm sorry," pausing briefly before wiping away a single tear from her eyes.
The lady looked at Sunghoon and said, "You have amazing dance skills. I don't know why they chose YN if she can't even do a simple choreography." Sunghoon thanked her in response.
They continued practicing for two more hours before the choreographer called it a day.
YN sighed and reached for her phone, typing away in frustration at the whole situation.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
She put her phone down and grabbed her tote bag, preparing to leave the room, but Sunghoon stopped her.
"Hey YN, are you okay?" he questioned.
She smiled softly and nodded, "Yeah, I'm alright."
"Today, she was too hard on you. You danced way better than me. She's probably mad that you dance better than her," Sunghoon laughed.
She laughed and shook her head, "Thanks, Sunghoon. She might have had a bad day or something," she said, smiling at him.
"YN, let's go! Hurry up!" her manager yelled.
"See you tomorrow!" She bowed before leaving.

Chaeri as the 8th and youngest member of BTS.
CHAERI'S MASTERLIST
Web article
Chaeri: the star who lights up the stage: her collaboration with NewJeans is a worldwide success
Tumblr media
For devoted BTS enthusiasts, the name Chaeri needs no introduction. As the eighth member of the internationally acclaimed K-pop phenomenon, she stands as the sole female artist among the group's stellar lineup. Born in 1998, Chaeri boasts an illustrious history with BTS, showcasing her prowess not only as a gifted singer and actress but also as a standout choreographer. Her dance contributions have left an indelible mark on BTS's most iconic tunes, including chart-toppers like "Dynamite," "Butter," and "Run BTS."
Beyond her stellar trajectory with BTS and her role as a choreographer for Ateez (noteworthy for choreographing hits like "Guerrilla," "Halazia," and "Bouncy"), Chaeri has chosen to extend her artistic reach by collaborating with another emerging group: NewJeans.
Debuting in 2022 under the ADOR label, a HYBE subsidiary, NewJeans is a five-member female quintet that has enraptured audiences with their distinctive blend of 1990s and 2000s pop and R&B influences. Their powerful harmonies and captivating musical style shine in hits like "Attention," "Hype Boy," "Cookie," "Ditto," and "OMG."
The collaboration between Chaeri and NewJeans kicked off in 2023 with the creation of the dance for their single "Super Shy." This infectious track narrates the tale of a bashful girl in love with a boy, with Chaeri's choreography adding an extra layer of captivation through fluid and synchronized movements. The accompanying music video for "Super Shy" soared past 100 million views on YouTube in under a month, claiming top spots on charts worldwide.
Yet, the collaboration between Chaeri and NewJeans doesn't conclude with "Super Shy." Chaeri continued to craft captivating choreography for the group's subsequent hits, such as "ETA," "Cool With You," and the latest addition to the idols' mini-album, "Get Up," titled "Gods"—the World Cup anthem for the popular video game League of Legends.
Enthusiastically embraced by fans and critics alike, Chaeri's dynamic creativity and versatility as both a choreographer and artist, combined with NewJeans' skill and charisma as performers, have earned them the moniker of a perfect artistic synergy.
In an interview, Chaeri expressed her delight at working with NewJeans, affectionately viewing them as younger sisters. The members of NewJeans reciprocated the sentiment, conveying their admiration and gratitude for Chaeri's guidance, acknowledging the invaluable lessons learned from her.
A Special Bond: Chaeri and Haerin's Musical Harmony
Within the folds of NewJeans, one member shares a unique and profound connection with Chaeri—her cousin, Haerin.
Initially, some skeptics within the K-pop community speculated about the potential bias in Chaeri's collaboration with NewJeans, particularly due to the familial connection with Haerin. There were concerns that Chaeri, being Haerin's cousin, might exhibit favoritism in the allocation of roles within the group's choreographies, potentially giving Haerin an undue advantage.
However, as the collaborative projects unfolded, it became abundantly clear that Chaeri's commitment to professionalism and artistic integrity superseded any familial ties. The dance routines crafted by Chaeri for NewJeans were a testament to her impartiality, as each member showcased their unique talents and strengths in a harmonious blend. Haerin, despite the blood relation, had no special treatment in the choreographic assignments, proving that Chaeri's artistic decisions were rooted in merit and artistic vision.

MY FAVOURITE JIKOOK STAGES
Jikook - power duo/aces of the group / main dancers/axis of the group. Yes, I'm talking about Jikook. The power couple. The duo rocks the stage with their charismatic personality and appearance. Amazing visuals. Sexy body. Powerful moves. Amazing vocals.

So, here's a post featuring my favourite JIKOOK stages as a unit in live concerts, off-stage dances, MV's and events. Also, keep in mind that I'm not ranking the stages. Whichever moment crops up in my mind first secures the top spot ya :)

JK on GMA
AWKWARD...
The JM question... JK with his "yes, in New York", pointing back like it's far away.
Well, so far away apparently that he couldn't join one of the shortest lives ever JK had, and one he couldn't get over fast enough.
*Side note: probably not going to post about that live, given there was really nothing post worthy in it. Other than him loving the cake, him being a little sick, him telling us there will be more performances and he has a schedule following the live, him telling us he slept 2 hours last night, up at 4:30 am (meaning he went to sleep at 2:30 am, I guess fulfilling his promise to ________ seven days a week).
Tumblr media
Like I said, he couldn't wait to get it over fast enough.
And back to GMA.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Yeah, not a great interview...
Poor boy.
Tumblr media
He was not ready for that kind of interview. And he is one that needs to prepare. The interviewer was, excuse my French, I am not going to mince words, crap.
Tumblr media
The sound in the studio was bad. He didn't have a proper mic. The interviewer was shocking. Yeah, not good.
Tumblr media
Euphoria
Dynamite
Seven
Oh, and did I mention the camera work for the pre-taping was not great either?
But let's leave that aside for a second and talk about something interesting. Something obviously not only I noticed.
Now, we've all agreed that this song is about sex, true?
True.
And we have also agreed that the song is gender neutral, true?
True, but not for the rap.
The rap has male pronouns and is clearly sung to a male.
Tightly take control, tightly take his soul Take your phone and put it in the camera roll (Uh) Leave them clothes at the door What you waiting for? Better come and hit ya goals He jump in it both feet Going to the sun-up, we ain't gettin' no sleep Seven days a week, seven different sheets Seven different angles, I can be your fantasy Open up, say, "Ah" Come here, baby, let me swallow your pride What you on I can match your vibe Hit me up and I'ma Cha Cha Slide You make Mondays feel like weekends I make him never think about cheatin' Got you skippin' work and meetings Let's sleep in, yeah (Seven days a week, ooh)
(That swallow your pride line is...ok...).
In the recorded song and the MV Latto is the one rapping, mostly, JK does the singing.
But in the performance, JK did part of the rap.
Loud and clear.
So, someone clearly went and told him he just cannot sing the lyrics as is, and went and changed the line "I make him never think about cheatin'" to a female pronoun - her. Cause Scoot, he has A LOT of money banking on this song, and ain't no one, especially not JK, going to ruin it for him with no explicit queer shit.
Thing is, it comes out worse in a sense, lol.
Cause that mix of female pronoun with lines that are clearly male intended kind of makes your mind go to other places which I will not detail here right now (well, if you have one and it's not empty like the y/ns that will listen to her and swallow it like the imbeciles that they are).
And yeah, JK's English might not be the greatest, but he most definitely knows what the lyrics he's singing are.
He knows what it means when he sings "fucking you seven days a week" and he knows what the lyrics of the rap part are as well, it being his damn song. And he definitley knows what "come here, baby, let me swallow your pride" means too.
So, JK singing this rap, with the male pronouns, talking about explicit sex acts with a man, this my friends was a definite no no from the Scoot. NO SIR. NOT ON HIS WATCH.
Do we have to say closeted once again? And prices to pay as well?
So yeah, JK had an almost free hand with the photo shoot concept, and obviously had styling choices of his own in the MV and the performance today (cough JM mirroring going on again cough). I think it's also safe to say he was involved in the MV concept itself and the storyline and idea for the scenes. And we don't know just how much say he had with the lyrics of the song (although it's clear that he does feel a connection with the song, and I'm not surprised either with some of the mirroring going on there to JM's Like crazy), but clearly for JK's part, there are no female pronouns.
So, if he wanted to rap, having to say the word her in the rap was a price to pay, which he did. All with the 4 buff tattooed male dancers prancing around him.
For a song about a clearly hetro man singing about having sex 7 days a week with a woman that is kind of a weird, let's say, choice of backup dancers, I have to say.
Or not, seeing that this man does not have one straight bone in his body...
Thinking back though to that line he inserted the her...
"I make him never think about cheatin'"...
This one rings so JK...
Tumblr media
"I make JM never think about cheatin'"...
Yeah, that sounds about right...

Episode 5: WELCOME!
Beyond the Star, produced by HYBE Media Studio
BTS continues to break records with Butter and Permission to Dance.
Whereas Dynamite was intended to be a feel good song for the fans during trying times, Butter was a little more intentional. BTS did not think they would release another single after Dynamite and the BE album but the pandemic was wearing on so out of many songs that they were sent to consider, they chose Butter. Namjoon rewrote most of the rap and the rest, as we keep saying, is history.
Butter broke Dynamite's Youtube premiere record of peak concurrent viewers with 3.9 million as well as other viewer number records.
Butter debuted at #1 on the BBHot100 and charted at #1 for 10 non-consecutive weeks. "Smooth like butter" became the catch-phrase of the summer of 2021.
Tumblr media
And FINALLY, BTS heads to Los Angeles at the end of November 2021 for their first performances with a live audience. The world is still trying to emerge from all the covid restrictions but this is their chance. The U.S. has opened the doors and they go for it.
They will be one of the first artists to perform at the brand new SoFi stadium.
They are going to give it their all because things are still uncertain. Performing concerts with live audiences, being able to perform physically after such a long break and the fear or dread of NOT being able to perform again with an audience was the biggest thing weighing on them. Yoongi seemed optimistic and Namjoon said he hoped so but was afraid of having his feelings hurt again.
They realize their bodies are aging and that before the pandemic, as we know, they were driving their bodies into the ground physically with their grueling schedules.
It was 2 years between performances with a live audience – Love Yourself/Speak Yourself in Seoul, October 2019 to PTD LA, November 27, 2021.
Watching them prepare, as a group, for a major concert is awesome. These behind the scenes are very precious because they now know what it feels like to go through the motions of a live performance WITHOUT an audience.
The quality of their preparation and rehearsals increased. They had time to talk about the performance and production. They changed some things that they previously did during concerts. They said their energy levels were even higher than ever.
(PTD concert remix of Fire needs to be released this year. Just sayin.)
After they finally perform in front Army, they have mixed feelings. Relief, excitement, trepidation that this might be the last time. It was still a time when they didn't know if they'd get to perform again after PTD LA. One thing we learn is that they realized if they didn't get to perform once back in Seoul, that would be it for three years because of enlistment. Enlistment was the wall they faced every single day.
But as we know, the Seoul shows did go on in March 2022 and the Las Vegas shows in April and we also know how the rest of 2022 went.
We see them enjoying some free time in Los Angeles while in-between concerts, something they never got to do before. I think they made the free time a requirement when doing concerts. Their bodies needed to rest.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
We see them win AOTY at the AMAs.
It is more serendipity because Namjoon mentioned a little bit before in this episode that he'd thought about quitting until he realized they belonged on that stage and knew that's what had to happen. Jin says the previous 2 years were a time for them to reorganize themselves and they were able to release Dynamite, Butter, Permission to Dance and reach even more overseas fans and make their concerts even more exciting.
Tumblr media
Jungkook says they were not expecting to win AOTY at the AMAs. Winning Artist of the Year at the AMAs enabled them to view it as yet another door opening to their future.
Tumblr media
Holding sold out concerts in huge stadiums, performing at the top of their game, winning huge awards at western award shows, these things legitimized them being asked to represent their country at the UN and other global and international diplomatic conferences.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I know... they were asked to do this BEFORE they won the Artist of the Year at the AMAs, and BEFORE the PTD shows, and it is because of what they'd accomplished before those things, but it further drives the point home that BTS will continue in the future to be a big player in the music industry worldwide and they already know this.
Jungkook says they aren't sure what the future holds yet but ignoring what's happened is not an option.
Tumblr media
Tae says they want to remain the artists who impart a positive influence.
Tumblr media
They have finally realized what their purpose is and they are realizing the influence they wield.

Jungkook's interview with The Atlantic
About releasing a full album in English:
At first, Jungkook felt conflicted about this. “I was thinking, Is it okay for a Korean to not release Korean songs at all?” the 26-year-old singer told me through an interpreter, from his entertainment company’s office in Seoul. BTS achieved global popularity while making music almost entirely in their native language, with the exception of a few English-language hits such as “Dynamite” and “Butter.” At the same time, the whole point of his solo effort was to challenge himself—and exclusively singing in English seemed like one good way to do that. Yet he hopes to connect with people on a level deeper than language. “When you think about pop stars, they’re these really cool singers that you’d look up to since your childhood,” he said. “Of course, things have been changing a lot. But I still have that pop-star image stuck in my head since my childhood. And I want to be a cool guy that gives off that amazing vibe.”
Jungkook said he loved the demo for “Standing Next to You” so much that he recorded a full track the next day.
About writing or not his own music:
He told me that, for a long time, he thought it was important for artists to write their own records (as some BTS members elected to do for their solo albums). Jungkook has written and produced songs for BTS, including quiet ballads and electropop anthems; at least two tracks that he wrote for his solo project ended up being recorded by the group instead. “As I grew up, I came to terms with reality and started accepting what I’m not good at or what I don’t have to do,” he said. “At this moment, there’s nothing I want to write about. So I was thinking, Do I really need to invest my time into creating a song from the beginning to the end?” With Golden, the urgent desire wasn’t there, and the timing didn’t make sense. (BTS is expected to reunite in 2025, after all of the members have completed their mandatory military service; Jungkook has yet to begin his.) Rather than writing lyrics or composing melodies, he chose to experiment with new vocal techniques and hone his live-performance skills.
About the content in his songs:
The songs on “Golden” reference mature themes—namely, substances and sex—more explicitly than his previous work, in part because of the relative cultural conservatism of his home country and the idol industry. Jungkook has openly acknowledged this shift (and seemed unbothered by the more pearl-clutching reactions) but says he’s not trying to redefine himself in relation to his past. “Jungkook back then was Jungkook back then, and somehow, I became who I am right now. The one that’s making all the judgment calls is me, myself, in this very moment,” he said. “I’m not thinking, Oh, I should break away from that cute image as the youngest member ... Lyrics are just lyrics, and images are images.” He added that he chose love songs for their universality, but that people shouldn’t read them as autobiographical.
Throughout our conversation, Jungkook would do things that might read as typically maknae to those fans who’ve followed him for years: drinking his water by lifting the cup with both tattooed, sweater-pawed hands; waving goodbye for a solid 15 seconds with a giant smile on his face, again with both hands. But the way he talks—how he visibly works through a tricky question as he’s speaking, correcting himself or jumping in to add a thought—and his poised manner offer clear signs of creative intentionality and hard-won maturity. Those signs come through in the album too: in his natural-sounding enunciation, the way he slips between a fluttery falsetto and a warm lower register on “Closer to You” or plays with volume and tone on “Hate You.” It’s the sort of growth you see in someone who hasn’t stopped running.

Hi BPP
that fandom implosion you talked about previously, will happen sooner rather than later. JK is getting full on radio from day 1 apparently. On one hand wow, great, on the other, Like crazy could have and SHOULD have been the song of the summer.
There are so many moving parts beind the scenes, which we do not see that decide the kind of promo a song will get...Not negligible being the producer who is working with JK is a big deal in the industry,
anyway I would be very interested to read your take on this.
a radio DJ confirming the news https://twitter.com/JJRyanOnAir/status/1677384733989433344?s=20
***
Hi @atlantis315
Your link.
I’ve replied to your question here. Also copy-pasted the main gist of my views here:
“I think BangPD still fully values each and every member of BTS, and I don't think any member is being mistreated, abused, or grossly mismanaged. But BangPD is not their father, and his motivation to produce profit is more agnostic/cynical than a lot of ARMYs want to admit. But at the same time, you either trust BTS to handle their business as capable adults, or you don't. It's really that simple for me. More than anybody else, they know their own situation, and are certainly capable of handling themselves.”
*
Also, given that all D2C sales are now rendered moot for US charts, I’m very happy Jungkook’s song will be sent to radio, to make up for not having the tool that other releases have had to some degree. And it seems Scooter has a hand to do with that anyway, so while I find Scooter to be kind of a creep, I’m glad Seven gets the chance with radio to leave a mark of his own.
This doesn’t mean I think Like Crazy couldn’t have benefitted from being sent to radio. Without Scooter involved it’s unlikely to have gotten many spins (BTS with Dynamite/Butter peaked at ~80M AUD+ in radioplay, Miley Cyrus does 100M AUD+ on average with Flowers), but radio still would’ve been a boon for Jimin. Just as I think it would have been for Hobi, Joon, and the others. But also, a big part of me is okay with them not all having equal promotion tools. Not every solo release has had CDs, Tiny Desk performances, tours, festivals, remixes, multiple versions, and now radio. In Chapter 2, expecting them all to receive “equal treatment” in the outcome of promotion tools during their initial solo projects, isn’t something I think is worth losing sleep over. Because as I’ve said, I cannot want more for the rapline/Jimin/BTS’s career than BTS themselves, I cannot love them more than they love themselves, and I certainly don’t know more about their circumstances than they know themselves. If Jimin, Jungkook, Hobi, or anyone needs to handle BigHit because they believe their career is being mismanaged, they’re the last people who would hesitate to do something about it, especially at this point in their careers.
Also, far as I’m concerned, any member who gets achievements and records no matter how it compares to my biases, deserves it.
I agree with you that there’s a lot of moving parts behind the scenes. But. The hysteria over Ryan simply saying Seven is getting serviced to radio, (not even that it’s expected to impact radio - which is a very different thing), was due 100% to how fully solo and manti sentiment has permeated into the fandom. In my humble opinion. A few things fuelled the reaction to that announcement:
- First the chaos started as backlash from PJMs to the insults and ridicule Jimin suffered from other solos (JJKs, KTHs, MYGs, Blinks, Barbs, etc) when his promotion tools (mult versions/remixes etc) were announced, all while ARMYs pretended that abuse wasn’t happening to him or were oblivious to it. It would be infuriating for PJMs to see JJKs having access to a tool that in theory should make it easier to rack up achievements for the song.
- Then there’s the anger from many people who love Jimin and have had to deal with an unpredictable roll-out environment, between BB randomly deleting sales in the 10s of thousands (when for previous BTS releases they’ve only tried to delete a few thousand sales at most), and no immediate clarity from BigHit. Having radio as a tool would’ve made handling that disastrous handicap significantly less stressful for ARMYs, and overall would’ve helped Jimin. There’s a strong case for why BigHit should factor radio in for Jimin and other members especially now going forward, even if it might not be really played. But again, if they don’t, it’s not something I see as my personal wahala.
- The akgae theory of preferential treatment and company favourites for jikook has been almost fully absorbed not just in solo spaces, but also in ARMY spaces primarily through shippers - and that’s how it always happens. The reason taekookers are the only people alongside Tae solo stans claiming that Beyond The Story is a HYBE psyop, is because they’re the only groups of people who have drank the koolaid about Tae’s neglect at the hands BangPD for the other members’ benefit. A lot of jikookers now believe the same for Jimin, and PJMs hold that belief as a canon creed anyway. Which is a bit funny IMO when you hear how JJKs see the whole thing. Because the similarities in narratives are so uncanny lol.
- Nobody asked but I personally think BangPD is out of touch. He seems to have really fanciful ideas that sometimes make me wonder how solid is his grasp of the situation he’s in. He strikes me as a bit complacent, but again, that’s just me looking from the outside in and it’s ultimately BTS’s business to deal with their boss and manager of ~13 years. Not mine.
There’s a few more factors that influenced why shit blew up a couple days ago IMO, even before the song is released, but anyway, I saw your ask earlier but didn’t care to involve myself in the hysteria on Tumblr/Twitter right away. So please see the above as a summary of what I think if you’re still curious.
Like Crazy is still stable because a lot of ARMYs are streaming it. Solos and locals too, because it’s just a very good song that’s easy to listen to and catchy as hell. FACE is not the only solo project we’ll see in Jimin’s career. I doubt it’s even going to be a significantly defining album outside of being his debut. I need a lot of people to breathe deeply and think about what exactly is happening here in this team of seven men, not just in the universe of maknae-line narratives and myths.
Or you know, just do whatever you like. My opinion is unpopular, and so I think the implosion is pretty much on track for 2024. Hopefully I’m very wrong lol.

The 8th Member of Bangtan💜
•••
Chapter 4 - The Dance Practice 💥✨🪩
Synopsis: you (y/n 🦊) are the 8th member of bts and are involved in all the fun and banter with the boys as you work on your music and side projects for army
Pairings: platonic! ot7 x gn! reader
Warnings: angst, gossip, slight arguments, discussions of self worth and self doubt
A/n: yn faces off with dance instructor Jung Hoseok and some gossipy staff members in this one… as usual yn is gender neutral so read the honorific’s as they apply to you, also ‘Cha Hwa-young’ is just a random name I plucked off the internet and is in reference to no one with the same name
•••
6am.
Your alarm was blaring and the echo of Hobi’s words were in your brain.
“Dance practise at 7am”
You rolled out of bed and slipped on the workout outfit you’d planned the night before (something simple yet stylish so on the off chance the staff would film some of the practice for army, you’d look presentable).
Preparing for a comeback was no joke… constant lyric writing, recording and choreography sessions. Anything to make the perfect songs and performance for army.
Today you are all working on the choreo for ‘Dynamite’ which meant excessive sweating and the scrutiny of dance teacher Jung Hoseok.
“I’m gonna miss Hobi today” you said to Jungkook and Jimin, the others having left earlier, leaving the 3 of you to catch up to the studio.
“How? Is he not gonna be there, noona/hyung?” Jungkook asked still sleepy and rubbing his eyes.
“He’ll be there kookie, I just mean he’s gonna be in his serious dance instructor mode today” you explained, expression glum.
“Ah come on dongsaengie, cheer up” Jimin said squishing your mouth into the shape of a smile, “it’s gonna be a fun practice… besides that’s how we get our dances perfect right?”
His arching eyebrows and imploring expression made you nod in agreement… one cup of coffee and you’d be fine.
Or so you thought.
•••
Pulling up to the HYBE building, your phone buzzed.
🐨: heads up guys… there’s a new assistant staff member in today
🐻: she’s pretty
🐱: Tae be professional, she’s only just across the room
All of a sudden, Jungkook and Jimin came to life at the mention of a new, pretty staff member. You were also intrigued but now you were even more nervous.
These days the staff (especially the core staff) didn’t change and rotate that much. Most of the staff that worked closely with you and boys had been working for years, allowing you to become trusted confidants and somewhat friends.
Jungkook could sense your unease as he wrapped his muscly arm around your shoulder and pulled you in for a reassuring hug.
“It’ll be alright noona/hyung”
And boy was he wrong.
The minute you stepped into the rehearsal room the vibe was different.
The boys were huddled in one corner of room rather than spread out, their collective bodies hiding the fact they were talking and giggling with to a new member of staff. The three of you approached the throng and Jungkook cleared his throat to alert his hyungs to your presence.
“Ah, here they all are!” Namjoon greeted you all, parting the group, revealing the dark-haired woman still dressed in her long parka coat.
“Jimin-ssi, Jungkook-ssi, yn-ssi” she said with a low bow.
“This is Cha Hwa-young” Hobi did the introducing with a big smile on his face - he always loved meeting new staff.
The three of you returned the greeting with a short bow.
“Where’s the coffee, Hobah?” you tapped Hobi on the shoulder.
He rolled his shoulder to get your finger off him and turned from his apparently hilarious conversation with Hwa-young to answer you, slightly annoyed expression on his face.
“I don’t know yn, go ask the staff members, I’m sure they’ve did the run already”
It seemed like your prediction was right, Hobi was already annoyed and you hadn’t even begun to dance yet.
Speaking of, dance practise was now running 15 minutes late because the boys were busy getting to know Hwa-young, though you stayed back from the conversation because every time you tried to interject you’d be brushed off or ignored.
What you didn’t notice was that the one youngest and one oldest member were hanging about closer to you than they usually did during dance practice.
“Here dongsaengie” Jin said passing you your cup of hot coffee.
Jin and Jungkook could definitely read you and the staff members better than the rest - in other words they could see you sulking more than usual and the new staff member turning a bit cold towards you compared to how she was buttering up the boys.
“Should we start the rehearsal now Hobi hyung?” Jungkook suggested, making Hobi check his watch with a surprised face.
“Ah yes right! Let’s just pick up from where we left off the last time”
After some stretching, you and the boys took your starting positions and the beat of ‘Dynamite’ rang across the studio. You tried to ignore the glaring look Hwa-young sent you from across the room.
The first run through went well and Hobi seemed pleased with everyone.
“What did you think Hwa-young-ssi?” he asked.
She looked somewhat taken aback but pleased at the direct question.
“It was wonderful, Jhope-ssi!” she complimented with a bow, gaining agreements from the other staff and preening from the group, “though I think yn-ssi stepped on Jungkooks foot? You better watch Jungkook-ssi, your lace is undone now”
Everyone looked at Jungkooks shoe, and of course, his lace was undone.
“Ah I’m sorry Kook! Did I step on your foot?” you rushed down to your knees to help him tie his lace again.
You swore you could here some snickers over at the far side of the wall where the staff was standing.
“Just a little bit noona/hyung… it’s okay it wasn’t sore!” Jungkook sought to reassure you before you fretted.
“It’s okay yn-ie, I’m clumsy all the time” Joon offered you a hand up from the ground with a reassuring smile.
You got up and dusted yourself off, both physically and mentally.
“I’m gonna watch the next run through” Hobi said standing in front of the group, arms folded and concentration evident on his face.
•••
“It wasn’t that bad baby petal” Jin tried to reassure you.
“He was mad at me too, yn-ie” Jimin tuned in.
“He’s not mad, he’s just stressed and wants to get the choreo right,” Yoongi said, sitting down at the lunch table.
The staff came up to you all with water and bowls of lunch (bibimbap from today’s menu) and sat down away from the group.
“Where is hyung anyway?” Jungkook asked.
“He’s reviewing the dance footage” Tae said with a mouthful of seaweed and rice.
“He should come eat soon… I’ll go and get him” Jin stood up.
Suddenly without his broad shoulders shielding you, you felt the eyes of hybe’s cafeteria goers and most unsettlingly, those of the group of staff you knew had been in dance practise with you all. Hwa-young, though, was missing among them.
Jin returned with Hobi in tow. The expression on his face was indecipherable but he didn’t really look up from his bibimbap bowl while he talked.
“We need to tighten up the choreo guys… I know we’ve only just finalised it but we’ve got less than a month left before the company will want to start recording us practice and start recording the music video”
“We’ll get there Hobi hyung” jimin offered hopefully.
“It’s just frustrating Jiminie, I want it all to look perfect as soon as possible, otherwise it gives me anxiety”
“You’re the best dancer here hyung” namjoon offered to the unusually downtrodden man, “it just takes some of us a bit longer”
“I know Joon, I can’t expect perfect from some of you straight away, but I usually expect my dance line to perform well”
The words hung in the air. Everyone knew by that he meant Jungkook, Jimin, Tae and you. And who had been messing up the most all morning? You had.
Sure the hyungs needed a few minutes more of individual coaching from Hobi than the rest and Namjoon in particular could be prone to tripping, but you knew by the look on his face Hobi expected more from his maknaes.
You sat with your head low, hating to disappoint any of your members. You could feel eyes on you and became overcome with the need to escape.
“Sorry oppa/hyung” you mumbled, before standing from your seat, “excuse me”
You walked to the first place you could find to be alone. The bathroom. But before you could round the corner you heard the voice you’d been hearing all afternoon. Hwa-young.
“Poor jhope-ssi, he’s so stressed about the dance… they’re the one that came in late with Jungkook and Jimin… what was their name again?”
“Yn?” the voice of another staff member offered.
“Ah yes, well they’re apparently part of bts dance line but from this morning you’d find that hard to believe” she snickered, followed by a burst of laughter.
Sometimes you hated the labels associated with being an idol. Sure you were part of rapline… that was a given since you rapped all your verses in bts’s songs. But dancing wasn’t always your strong suit. Jimin and Hobi were trained professionals before they joined the bighit label in their pre-debut days. And Jungkook was just naturally talented at things while Tae had his own flare that army ate up during a performance.
You don’t even know why you were proclaimed as part of dance line when you felt like you couldn’t live up to their expertise or talent. And hearing Hobi and the staffs words all but confirmed your doubts.
Maybe… you thought, you’d have to rethink your position in the team. This afternoon you’d been clunky and causing delays. Maybe bangtan would be better without you, you thought.
You couldn’t be noticed by the staff now so you walked to the further away bathroom to get some quiet and clear your head.
You had only been sitting in the bathroom stall for 10 minutes when a text came through.
🐰: noona/hyung… are you okay?
🦊: fine kookie, just in the bathroom
🐰: hyungs say we’re heading back into practice in 5
You gave the message a thumbs up and put you phone back in your pocket. It wasn’t too late to back out, the promos for the Dynamite comeback hadn’t happened yet. They could easily cut your lines or have someone else in rapline re-record them so they wouldn’t go to waste. For now you swallowed those thoughts down and walked back to the practice room.
Jungkook was looking at you with wide boba eyes and Jin looked concerned.
“Everything okay baby petal?”
“Yes oppa/hyung, just a stomach ache”
“Can you still dance?”
He had no idea how hard that question hit but you just painted on a smile and nodded anyway.
Yet again the rest of the boys were oblivious, gathered around Hwa-young and her quickly acquired friends, talking and giggling.
Once you announced yourself, the members got to practising over and over until early evening until Hobi was completely satisfied with the days work. Everyone left the studio with aching muscles but only one member left with a head full of self doubts.
•••
“Jhope-ssi, would you and the group like to come with us to dinner?”
“Ah that would be nice noona,” Hobi turned to the group, “you want food guys?”
Noona? After only one day of getting familiar, you thought.
Everyone nodded, even Jin and Jungkook who could never deny food, probably even from their worst enemy.
“Yn-ssi” Hwa-young addressed you, “you probably won’t want to come along with that upset stomach you talked about having earlier”
Inside you seethed. But really she was right. You didn’t want to be around anyone for any longer today and certainly not her.
“I’ll turn in for the night, see you guys later” though you had no intention of leaving your bedroom to socialise tonight or even answer the door for that matter.
“Alright, it was very nice to meet you” she gave a bow and headed for the cars.
You returned it, but only because she was your elder.
“Noona/hyung, please come with us, we’ll only worry” Jungkook pleaded.
“Really I’ll be fine Kook, go with your hyungs and have fun, it’s been a long day” you chased him.
He looked somewhat forlorn as he walked away with Jin, who turned at the last second and mouthed “you okay?” to you, to which you replied with a nod.
You certainly weren’t okay but you didn’t intend to ruin dinner after being the reason that a dance practice session had soured.
You got a separate car back to the dorms, had your single bowl of ramen (because you knew you’d face the wrath of Jin if you didn’t eat) and headed to bed.
You had a lot to think about and a lot of time to do it before they got home.

A/n: leaving this one on a cliffhanger sorry! will 8th member of bangtan want to stay or will they take some convincing? 🤔 hope you enjoyed some angst (we still love all the boys in this house) but we’ll see a continuation of this storyline in the next fic… then maybe back to some lighter storylines lol 💖
