The best thing in your life came with time. It came with some stumbled steps, tough spots...it came with time.
Pairing: Werewolf!BTS X Werewolf!reader
Warning: Angst, mentions of violence, sexual assault, blood, gore, sex, matting, bitting, knotting, insecurities, slow burn. Fluff, and just one of my stories tbh.

Jimins room was bright, and colorful. His bed is much larger than Jins or Hoseoks, pushed into the corner of the room away from the window.  His walls were a light blue, and pictures were hung along the wall just like Hoseoks, yet mixed in were sketches that you could only assume Jungkook and Taehyung had drawn. From smiling Namjoon to a blushing Yoongi, it had you moving away from the Omega and taking in one of the drawings. It was of Yoongi, with who you assumed was Hoseok straddling his lap, head buried into Yoongi's neck.
Their hair was the same length as it is now, both sitting at the bay window that was downstairs Yoongi's eyes staring off, looking through a window where you saw a wolf, it was in the field, sitting down, eyes looking forward and a scar running up its lip to the bottoms of its nose was a familiar one to you. You assumed if there was color the fur of the wolf would match your own. The drawing had you tilting your head as you feel an arm  wrapping around your waist as a pointed chin pressing against your shoulder. You lean back against him, his other arms sliding across your stomach as he starts to let out small purrs, his fingers kneading at your hip as you move to the side for your arm to wrap around his shoulders.
“Kook drew that one night, I don't know if you saw them, but they saw you and Jungkook kinda just pushed your wolf forward.” he takes a breath in as you move away and look down at him, “Hoseok and Yoongi didn’t want it..said if they had a picture of you they wanted a real one before a drawing…so I took it.” You nod as you step back till the back of your thighs hit the end of his bed. It had him moving forward to stand between your legs as he looked down at you. “The last..last month I would look at it..and just..just imagine my wolf and yours playing while Yoongi and Hoseok watched..like a little movie in my head. How life is supposed to be.” His words had your heartbeat speeding up as you grabbed him by his waist, head resting against his stomach as you hugged him. His sound of surprise had you smiling as you felt one of his hands rest on your shoulder as the other moved to your hair. The two of you stayed like that, his sweet caramel apple scent swirling around you as his wrist rubs against the scent gland on your neck, making you pretty much go limp at the feeling. The way his nails scratches at your scalp every so often was also pushing out small sounds of comfort and enjoyment, which lead to Jimin crooning at you. “I need to do your hair.” he mumbles, making you shrug as he pulls away, pushing your shoulders up as he smiles down at you. “Come sit in this chair, I can do it.” His hand motions to the swivel chair that was in front of a desk, a large mirror was attached to it, as you got up and sat down he quickly pressed a kiss to your nose making you widen your eyes as he smiles down at you. His hand moved to the chair so you were looking at yourself, it had you looking down as his hand moved all of your hair to be pulled back.
“Not too much?” You asked, you're looking up at him, his eyes staring at you as he nods his fingers moving through your hair, stopping when they’d get caught on a knot, or a matt. As if he was taking notes on where each one was, then you’d feel him pick it up and a mess with it, evaluating how bad each one was.  “I told Jin it was bad.”
“Actually it’s not, I might have to layer it shorter than you’d like in certain areas like right here.” He picks up a portion to show it to you, making you cringe as he places it down. “This one is denser than the others, but I can try and work through it. It might hurt though.” He muttered, making you sigh, nodding as he quickly wrapped his arms around your neck. His chin resting on the top of your head as your hand reached up and gripped his arm. “It will be okay baby, I swear. With me around your hair will never get like this again, it will always be taken care of, always.” His words had you nodding as he smiled brightly at you, kissing the top of your hair as he pulled away and moved to the desk you were in front of.  Opening a drawer as he set out scissors and other things you really couldn’t put a name to, yet you felt like you could trust him with wherever he was going to do. “So, I'm gonna wet it, and add this detangler I’ve made, it has some oils in it and I'm gonna brush as much as I can out without destroying your scalp in the process, it’s gonna seem like you lost a lot of hair but it’s just build up, okay baby?” You nod, his smile calming you as you take a deep breath in, you see a brush and spray bottle in hand as you feel the mist against your head making you jump.
“Cold.” You mutter making him giggle as he sprays again then places the bottle back on the table as he grabs your hair, and starts to brush out the ends.
“Can..can I ask about you?”  He wonders after a few minutes of listening to a brush run through your hair, a knot or two already worked through as you look at him through the mirror.
“I guess..”
“You don't have to answer anything you dont want too, you can tell me as much and as little as you want..we have the rest of our lives to tell each other everything..and this is just the start.” he mumbles a small smile playing on his lips as you sigh and nod.
“Go for it.”
“Okay, easy one, how old are you?”
“I think..I think I’m twenty four, the hunters got my pack when I was sixteen…and this would be the ninth winter.” You matter though you knit your eyebrows together as you sigh, “I'm not very good at math though so.” You eyes closing as he nods, though you could see the hesitation when you look up and your eyes meet.
“Do you remember….remember when your birthday was?”
“That spring I turned sixteen, so I think next I’ll be twenty five.” Your words kinda end in a question making him smile at you, his hands pulling themselves from your hair and wrapping around your neck once again.
“Then that makes you the baby of the family, Kookie is twenty five now, Tae and I are twenty seven and Joonie and Hoseok are twenty eighth and Yoongi is twenty nine and and Jinnie is thirty.” He mumbles, a breath after each age, excitement growing with each word as he moves back to brushing out another knot, being gentle as he possibly could be. “Though just cause you’re the baby doesn’t mean I'm not your baby.” he muttered, a small smile on his face as you chuckle as you see a blush painting his cheeks as he shook his his head, “That sounds stupid.”
“No, it’s the truth you and Jinnie are my babies.” You muttered, making him let out a choked breath, as he stepped back and took a deep breath in.
“Stop making me feel so small, you you butt.” he huffs, making you chuckle as you shake your head taking a deep breath in and out as he shakes his shoulders. “I can’t be small and cut your hair, can’t work like that.”
“Okay okay.” You mutter making him huff as he slowly gets back to brushing your hair out, “Any more questions?” You ask, making him rapidly nod as he takes a deep breath in and looks at you through the mirror once again.
“So what's your favorite season?”
“The time of year before winter, where the leaves change and the weather cools down and the food migrates.” Your words had him nodding at you, “I've heard people call it Fall and Autumn but I'm not sure which is the right term.”
“I think everyone calls it something different, I call it fall cause all the leaves fall but Namjoon and Hoseok say Autumn.”
“What about you?”
“I guess..hmm spring? Everything new and fresh.” You smile at him as you feel a tug at your scalp making you wince as he lets out a soft apology. “Okay favorite color?”
“Brown.” He let out a snort at your single word answer, and with how fast you had responded, “It just..you all have brown eyes..and I..okay next question.” he coo’s at your words, his eyes shining at you as he pressed a kiss to the top of your head.
“So so so sweet, okay okay next question…what’s your favorite childhood memory?” His question was innocent enough, though it had you pausing, trying to remember before your world became nothing but control control control. Your head tilted  as you felt yourself shrug, not really knowing what it would be as he smiled at you. “Come on, there has to be one?”
“I guess..I guess when..when there was this thunderstorm..and my mom was able to sneak my dad into the Omega room, and he held me and her as long as he could before the packs Alphas would grow suspicious.” You felt your chest tighten at the thought of your mother and father, the few memories of him you have were honestly the ones  you held most dear to your heart. “Any memory with my dad honestly.” You whisper your eyes looking down at your lap as you hear him take a deep breath in.
“Omega room?” Jimin asked, his eyebrows knitted together as you looked, gave him a nod. The feeling of his brushing slowing as you saw his shoulders drop.
“Don’t know what it is?” You mumble, a scoff at the end as he nodded, “Most don’t…it’s what..what the older packs used to keep Omegas separate form the rest of the pack, or the world. It was used for Alphas to be able to control the population and show power..you only ever left when you were a  different rank and was old enough to leave your mom or when an Alpha wanted you…” You stop mid sentences taking a deep breath in as you mentaly curse at yourself, feeling too comfortable around Jimin was making you revile things you never wanted to. Fear that the pack would shun you or use you like your old pack did. “Can..can we change the topic.” you stuttered Jimin's sniffling as he placed the brush down and crawled into your lap. Letting out a surprised sound as he wrapped his arms around your neck, head burying itself into your neck as you felt his lips move to your scent gland making you stiffen as he paused. “Jimin?”
“Can I please..please?” he muttered against your glande his breath fanning your skin as your frozen hands moved to rest on his waist, one moving to the back of his head.
“I don’t know what you want.” You answer honestly, making him nuzzle closer to you as you hear him sniffle once more.
“Suckle, need to scuckle at your scent glande..it..it calms me..calms most Omegas..I..please I kinda did it earlier.”
“That's what that was?” You mumbled, fingers twisting into his hair as he nodded, making you take a deep breath in. “Explain it to me more afterwards?” You ask, making him nod as you sigh, and push his head towards your neck, making his mouth part as you felt his soft tongue run along your skin. You scent pushing outwards, wrapping around the room as he suddenly starts to suck at the scent that was being expressed out. It had him moaning as you felt his fingers start to knead into your shoulders. His eyes closed as you felt drool sliding down the side of your neck, your own mind drifting into a daze , the feeling of your scent glade being messed with was slightly uncomfortable, the gland swelling with each suck and lick had your fingers digging more and more into his waist. The feeling of one of his hands moving to your jaw, moving your head further to the side, his other hand moving to the back of your neck as you felt him moaning against you. The feeling was making your breathing rapid, and your heart felt like it was going to pound against your chest when you suddenly feel this hips hult forward.
“Jimin…” You whisper, making him freeze as he pulls away, licking your glande once again, making your whine as he pants. Forehead resting against your cheek as his breathing fans against your skin.
“Sorry..sorry…got..a..it was a lot.” he whispered, chuckling at the end making your blink slowly as your hand moves up from his wasit and around his middle locking at his spin as you move your head and nudge yours against his. “Suckling…it helps Omega ground themselves when they’re upset..it can be sexual too but it useally isn’t..I..I suckle a lot even when Im not stressed if I’m being honest I just like to do it..some times I suck on the boys fingers when I’m sleepy too I just..like things in my mouth.” he awkwardly laughs at the end as he slowly pulls away from you. His eyes blow out as he clears his throat body relaxing as his arms drop from your neck to rest in his lap. “I..I drop a lot…I’ll try not to be around you till we’re more comfortable around each other but sometimes I can’t help it.” He warns making your nod as one of your hands land on his jaw making him look up.
“It’s okay…what..what made you feel the need to?”
“Omega rooms sound bad….and to imagine you in one hurt..hurt me.”He whispers the last part, making you nod as you clear your throat and let out a throaty croon his way.
“It wasn't always bad..I mean I always had my mom and we…we were kinda a big unmatched pack? Like a pack pack..”
“With like a head Alpha and stuff? Where not everyone is matted and stuff?”
“Yeah, it wasn’t very pleasant…though maybe before the hunters..the humans… started targeting them they were better? I'm not sure.” You wonder, your thumb is moving along his jaw as he looks at you. “Soooo..my hair?”
“Oh yeah..I got all that I can out and now I need to cut and style..okay?” You nod as he takes a deep breath in and looks at you, “I need one more moment…holy shit.” He says eyes widen as he leans forward, hand on your neck as his thumb runs along your very  swollen scent gland making your body flinch. “I..I’m so sorry.”
“It’s fine.”
"When was the last time someone scented you.”
“Besides you? Uh…when I last saw my mother when I was sixteen.” You mutter, head tilting as he gulps and nods, his eyes looking back at you as he frowns slightly.
“That's a long time..no wonder why it's all swollen..I mean some swelling is normal..but it..it looks raw.” He says making you nod.
“It feels like it.”
“Is..is that why you don’t drop? Or nest..you just haven’t had the opportunity too?” He asks, making you blink slowly and shrug as you look at him, “You’re Omega just been lonely?”
“I haven’t heard my Omega in years.” You state, which just made him freeze, you start to freak out when you see tears filling his eyes, yet he stops you. Taking a deep breath as he slid off of your lap and let out a breath. “Jimin?”
“Just..I need..I need to do your hair before I freak out and then I can’t do it anymore. Just..just..”
“Okay.” You nod, watching as he grabs scissors and stats to cut at your hair. The sound of the blade cutting through your hair had you closing your eyes, feeling weight falling from your head, especially when you know the biggest mat of hair on your head drops. The feeling of the tight hair that was holding it, your head being released had your tight body relaxing. Though the moment wasn't as relaxing as it would’ve been if the way Jimin had reacted wasn’t on your mind. The way he had pulled himself from you, how he held back tears and sniffles broke your soul. Your core fighting to comfort the low pack mate, the feeling of yoru Omega itching at the back of your mind, and though you sometimes wish you could link with her, you were scared. Cause If this was the reaction of your lowest ranked Omega, what would be the reaction of your Betas? Your Alphas? You already feel like a disappointment, a speck of dirt on their skin, a broken piece of their pack that was unwanted. Yet you had decided this morning you wanted them, and nothing else.  You wanted to not to ever fall asleep hungry again, you never wanted to feel as dirty as you were ever again. You never wanted to live a moment without Jimin sweet fresh caramel, apple scent, or the twisty sweet and spicy scent of Jin. You couldn’t, wouldn’t wish to live a day without them ever again.
“Okay….all done..can..can we take a nap now?” He whispers, making you nod as you stand up, eyes looking to see your hair was indeed shorter, but it was not as short as you thought it was going to be. Looking over you see Jimin was already climbing into his bed, his small frame being eaten away from the pillows and furs that were being tossed around. You see the way tears were sliding down his face a s you slowly approached the bed, his head snapping up, hand reaching and grabbing Jin sweater and yanking you on to the bed, and what you assumed was a messily made nest.  You fall onto your side as he suddenly is maneuvering your body around, till you were sitting up his hand moving things around, holding then bundling up blankets as he let out claiming chirps to himself. Hand reaching up to whip away his own tears every few seconds as he sniffles.
“Jimin?” You ask, hand reaching for his wrist, making his rapid movements stop as he looks over at you.
“Miinie is making a nest..nest keeps us safe.” He mutters sternly as you look at him, dropping his wrist as you watch. His hands then knead at a certain place and once he nodded at the look of said place he then grabs your wrist and pulls you down, curling himself around you as the two of you rest in the center of the nest. His hands knead at your stomach as he huffs slightly. Then suddenly the back of his hands start to aggressively  rubs at his eyes.
“Hey, hey don’t hurt yourself.” You mutter, grabbing his hand, placing it on your chest as you turn and face him. “Im okay now.”
“But..but your Omega is lost..how can you be okay with them lost? What happened to you for her to be lost?” He whines, his lip jutting out as he looks at you, your free hand moving to cup his cheek as you move your nose to press against his.  Your legs move to throw over his waist, following what natural instincts you have, and pull him as close to you as you could. “What happened to my Omega?” He whispers, a broken cry afterwards, that you swear heard your heart breaking.

Sooah had grown up in a blur. Her parents’ passive aggressive marriage, the aunts and uncles who’d moved in and moved out, the friend groups that evolved faster than a virus. Even her job was a blur; each event, scrambling to be put up, pulled off with hard work, and onto the next.
It was all a blur. Sooah was used to the blur. She was the only thing that stood steady within the blur, unmoving, watching the chaos of teenage angst in a state of borderline dissociation.
That was until Park Jimin entered her life, however, and suddenly her axis stumbled. He was clearer than anything else ever had been; he was sweet, he was kind, he loved to dance. He was shy and introverted, but he made her world go round.
Sooah watched Jimin pluck up the courage to tell her how he felt for months, and she was enchanted. He was all brains and maths and it was very impressive, but every time their gazes met for more than a second or their fingers accidentally brushed, all that shaky confidence melted into a series of stutters and he’d look away.
Eventually, Sooah asked him out after one of their study sessions. Truth be told, she hadn’t needed his help after the previous semester ended but she’d kept the routine going anyway, enjoying this blushing boy’s company more than expected. His cheeks predictably went pink but he nodded and Sooah, unable to resist smiling, promised to meet him later that week.
She also made the first move and kissed him at the end of their date; it didn’t seem like Jimin was going to risk crossing a line he wasn’t sure of and Sooah personally liked the fact that he cared enough to overthink it. She wasn’t going to handhold him forever, though; she promised herself that the next move would be his, and she waited nearly three months before he asked her officially to be his girlfriend.
Or, he didn’t quite ask. His exact words were So… does this mean I’m your boyfriend? Or are you - are you my girlfriend?
Given that this question was asked while they fooled around by the bushes behind her parents’ house, it took Sooah a little by surprise. She sat up on her elbows, ignoring the grass in her hair, and squinted at him.
Are you asking me to be your girlfriend, Jimin?
No. I’m asking if - okay, yes. Yeah, I am. I guess.
You guess?
I am!
She giggled at his whiny exclamation, his eyes wide and dramatic, and kissed him in response. They progressed for the first time from the bushes to her parents’ couch that evening, feeling like they’d crossed the ultimate threshold,  until he had to leave for dance practice at Big Hit.
It’s no longer a blur. Not the same kind, at least. Now, it’s like a ride at the amusement park, one of those dangerous ones that goes in all directions - except she’s been on it at least five hundred times.
It’s unbecoming of her, a professional with a job, to be peeking at her phone every few minutes while she’s at a client site. She walks alongside her manager, pinstriped trousers and sharp heels, hoping she looks chic enough to blend in with the people at this fashion label that’s hosting a luncheon with a group of buyers next month.
It’s all about faking it till she makes it. Fake the fun, make the friends. Fake the studious nature, make the parents happy. Fake the confidence - make the event a success.
Her manager nudges her subtly then, asking her if she’s taking notes.
Of course she is. This is her job, her priority. Not even an absentee boyfriend can distract her from it. Once she’s done for the day, however, the boyfriend takes centre stage in her mind again.
Sooah wants to text him again, but at this point, it will come off as clingy. Or paranoid, depending on the wording. The last text she sent him was Can we talk before you go to bed? It’s borderline desperate, not to mention pointless, for she’s sure he doesn’t even have his phone.
It’s probably with his manager, or his stylist. He won’t get it until after practice, after the stage rehearsal, after the fitting, after the backstage filming. After that, someone will have ordered a disproportionately small amount of food for the group; the boys will inhale it and pass out in the car on the way to their dorm. Alex will most likely not even look at his phone until tomorrow morning.
Unfortunately, she knows these things.
Her fingers itch with the desire to send another text, a passive aggressive one this time. Not because it’s his fault really, but because the niceties aren’t getting his attention.
After a moment, though, she shakes her head and tosses her phone into the laundry bin for good measure, hoping to get rid of any temptation. It’s too early in this relationship to show her true colours, and there’s no telling if Alex will be up for a fight.
Fake the peace, make the relationship.
The sun is bright - too bright. Even in the cold of December, it’s too bright.
The sun is too bright, the coffee is too hot, the dude at the next table is too loud, and Sooah is too annoyed. She hangs on to the annoyance, though, somewhat enjoying how it’s making her walk faster, how people seem to be stepping out of her way on the pavements - it’s strangely cathartic, despite how unfair it is.
She keeps it going all the way to Chaeyoung’s apartment, knowing she’s about an hour too early to pick her up for their lunch and movie date. But she doubts Chaeyoung would mind; in the few months that she’s known the younger girl, Sooah has picked up on her slight discomfort with her roommate, Sungmi - and her boyfriend, Ice.
She also thinks she’s picked up on a mild loneliness of sorts - the same one Sooah remembers she’d felt when she’d finished college and started working in Seoul by herself. Having finished high school in Seoul, she’d already had friends to begin with. Chaeyoung didn’t say it to her in so many words, but her delight in realising she’d made a friend outside of work was both sweet and transparent.
It initially amused Sooah, but being Chaeyoung’s friend has felt like one of the easiest relationships of her life so far, despite the bar being laughably low.
This neighbourhood isn’t the safest one Sooah has been to, but with one hand on her purse and the other clutching her keys, she hurries into the small building and up the flight of stairs. Chaeyoung throws open the door just as Sooah is about to ring the doorbell, and there are two quick shrieks in succession.
“Holy crap,” pants Chaeyoung, opening the door further and stepping aside. “Unnie, I wasn’t expecting you till -” She breaks off and pats the pockets of her pajamas for her phone and checks the time. “- at least another hour.”
“Yeah, I know,” mutters Sooah, trudging inside and sighing, realising only now how pathetic it could seem that she ambushed Chaeyoung in her own house. “I’m sorry, I just couldn’t sit in that stupid coffee shop anymore. At first it was just pitying looks and subtle questioning, but then -” She huffs and falls into a chair at the small dining table “- one of the baristas brought me a pity muffin. Just to make it absolutely clear that I’ve been stood up, in case anyone had any doubts.”
“Oh, wow.” Chaeyoung winces. It’s clear she hasn’t even started getting ready yet; her hair is still in a bun and she’s still wearing what she presumably wore to bed. “Alex didn’t make it?”
“No, and I don’t even know why I’m surprised.” She waves a hand. “Sorry, don’t let me keep you. Take your time getting ready. I’ll wait.”
“Yeah…” Chaeyoung bites her lip slowly. “I was going to text you, unnie…”
“No. No, Chae!” Sooah whines, her shoulders falling. “Not you, too!”
“I’m sorry! I just got the call a little while ago,” she says quickly. “I have to go to the office for a lunch meeting.”
“That is just perfect,” mutters Sooah, putting a hand to her forehead. “Today’s just one of those days, I guess, where everyone seems to be cancelling on me.”
“I’m really sorry,” repeats Chaeyoung, taking a seat next to her. “It’s a client meeting. It was supposed to be on Monday but then they cancelled and said that they were only free today - plus, this is like my first big project ever and I’m supposed to cover the entire history of the brand from inception…”
Chaeyoung is rambling. Sooah instantly feels guilty for lumping her in the same category as her boyfriend, so she nods, waiting for her to finish.
“- not wanting to be fired.” Chaeyoung swallows, eyes wide with guilt.
Sooah nods again. “It’s fine. Really. It’s your work, you don’t have a choice,” she elaborates, giving her a small smile when she sighs in relief.
Chaeyoung is quiet for a minute. "I'm sorry your date sucked," she ventures uncertainly. “Would you like a beer?”
Sooah nods absently, her gaze deliberately fixed on the mismatched salt and pepper shakers on the dining table. "It can't suck if it didn't happen."
“I’m sorry I added to it.”
“Don’t be. At least you have a genuine reason.”
“Alex doesn’t?”
“I don’t know!” Sooah blurts out in frustration. “Because he never actually called me.”
"Maybe he got busy,” suggests Chaeyoung, returning from the kitchen with two bottles and an opener. “Like, putting-out-a-fire-at-work kind of busy. Or his car broke down. Or he got in an accident!" When Sooah looks up at her incredulously, she shrugs self-consciously. "I - it's not ideal, but at least it's viable."
"Forget it," sighs Sooah after a moment, accepting the beer even though it’s seven degrees outside. "This wouldn't be the first time I've been stood up at a coffee shop."
She can sense that Chaeyoung wants to ask but is struggling not to. It warms her heart without meaning to, and she clinks her bottle with hers.
“Am I making you late?”
“Not at all,” replies Chaeyoung at once. “I don’t have to leave for a couple of hours.”
“I just can’t believe I’m back here,” says Sooah in a low voice. “After all these years, I’m right back where I started. I’m - I’m basically dating my ex all over again.”
Chaeyoung frowns. “What - wait, do you mean Jimin?”
Sooah nods, cringing inwardly. It’s not a fun thing to admit. “How do I choose these guys? How do I always end up in one of these relationships where I’m literally the last priority? And it’s my fault,” she adds, without waiting for Chaeyoung to respond, “because I pick these guys.”
“These guys,” repeats Chaeyoung slowly, “like, idols? Do you - do you always date idols?”
“No,” she huffs, “I’ve dated other guys. But after Park Jimin, this is probably my longest relationship to date.” She replays that in her head and shudders. “It’s pathetic, I know.”
“No judgement.” Chaeyoung pauses. “So, wait - is that why you’re with Alex? Is that, like, your type?”
“No,” answers Sooah immediately. “Alex and Jimin are nothing alike. It’s just their jobs that are similar and… I’m not a teenager anymore. I don’t have the time to stay up at night and worry about why my boyfriend hasn’t called me.”
“How long has it -”
“Eleven days.”
Chaeyoung’s eyes widen. “Eleven -”
“Eleven days since we’ve spoken on the phone,” confirms Sooah. “It’s just been one-word texts and missed calls, mostly from me. But, yeah, eleven days since I’ve actually heard his voice. And, no,” she adds, holding up a hand, “hearing his songs at Starbucks doesn’t count.”
Chaeyoung nods thoughtfully. “You know, that may not be the worst thing in the world. I mean, Hoseok has started this new thing where he warns me of a different disaster every day,” she says, rolling her eyes. “He acts like he wants to know how my day is going but then latches onto something stupid and gives me a whole lecture on it. Yesterday, it was about boiling water. He told me the steam could soften the plaster on the ceiling and lead to seepage. The day before that, it was about the dangers of the subway.”
Sooah squints, sensing that Chaeyoung might be losing the plot. “I don’t think this is… quite like that,” she says delicately. “Alex is basically AWOL, and Hoseok is…”
“An interfering arse, I know. You’re right, it’s not the same thing.” Chaeyoung sits back in her chair. “My point is… wait, hang on - do you want me to make a point?”
“What?”
“You know… do you want to actually talk about this or just vent and have me listen? Because I can do both,” she says earnestly.
“Oh.” It’s quite insightful of her, given how young she is, and Sooah is suddenly glad she landed up here an hour early. “Yeah, no, I can talk about it. Not angry enough to vent yet,” she points out.
“Alright. My point was… what does all this have to do with Jimin?”
Literally everything.
Sooah bites her lip, reliving it for the millionth time. “This is exactly how it started with him. Everything was going well, he was sweet, he had dreams and I - I liked being that person,” she confesses. “I liked being that person he shared his hopes and dreams with, who got to see him grow and become big.” She sighs. “Until he got too big.”
“And is Alex getting too big?”
“No. I mean, not yet. I mean -” Sooah shakes her head. “I’m not trying to sound evil. I want him to be big, I want him to get what he’s been working for because he deserves it, but… where does that leave me?” she asks in a small voice.
“What do you mean? You’re right here.”
“No, but when those guys started touring and all after debut, everything changed. Jimin changed.” Sooah wrings her hands in her lap. “It was like… like I was his life before, when he was sweet and shy and wore glasses, and now he was in the after, with orange hair and that stupid smirk. And I didn’t fit into that.” And then he dropped me a goddamn text.
“Is Alex changing?”
“No. I don’t know. It’s too soon to tell,” she admits. “But how productive of a person would I be if I ignored the similarities and made the same mistakes all over again? I mean, shouldn’t people be learning from their past relationships? Isn’t that the whole point?”
Chaeyoung opens her mouth as if to say something, but then seems to think the better of it.
“What?”
“What what?”
“You were going to say something.”
“No, I wasn’t.”
“Chae.” Sooah gives her a look. “Come on, you’re the smart one, wise beyond your years and all. Tell me.”
Chaeyoung half-chuckles, bringing one leg up on the chair and resting her arm on her knee. “I… don’t think you’re going to like what I have to say, unnie.”
“Wh- sure I will. Or I wont, but I can take tough love.”
“You’re sure?”
“Yes. Out with it.”
Chaeyoung licks her lips and observes Sooah for a moment. “I think… you’re being a little unfair to Alex.”
Sooah says nothing, not liking where this is going.
“I think everything you’ve told me so far has been about Jimin and not Alex,” she continues. “And I get it, it can’t be easy not hearing from him for days and getting stood up and stuff, but… would you be this worried if you’d never dated Jimin?”
“I think I’d be more worried. At least now I know it’s not about me. This is all him.”
“But which him?” Chaeyoung asks patiently. “Are you just projecting all of your… I don’t know, baggage with Jimin onto Alex? Because then you’re not even giving him a fair shot.”
Sooah was right; she doesn’t like where this is headed at all. “Would that really be the worst thing? Knowing what I know and using it to make an informed decision?”
Chaeyoung bites her lip and tilts her head, and it takes Sooah a moment to realise she’s solved her own crisis. She hates where this has ended up.
“I hate you.”
“Look, maybe you’re right and Alex doesn’t have the capacity for a relationship right now. In that case, just break it off before it gets ugly. But if you’re wrong and you think Alex can still make it work…” She shrugs again. “You can’t date your boyfriend and your ex-boyfriend at the same time.”
Fake the clarity, make the choice.
Sooah stares at Chaeyoung. “How old are you again?”
“Twenty-two.” She grins. “I know, I sound like I’m… thirty or something.”
Sooah scoffs, taking a large sip of her beer. “You don’t sound thirty, believe me. You sound… like, sixty-five.”
“Sixty-five.”
“Yeah. It’s good. I think I could use more sixty-five year old friends.”
“I’d be the fittest sixty-five year old you will ever know,” promises Chaeyoung, flexing a thin, largely invisible bicep. “Plus, then I’d be retired and wouldn’t have to work on a Saturday.”
“I’ll remind you you said that when you text me every single detail of the meeting like you did last time,” promises Sooah, drinking the last of the beer and standing up. “That’s my cue to leave.”
“You don’t have to,” begins Chaeyoung, but she stands up as well. “If Alex doesn’t get back to you by tonight, do you want to hang out?”
“Oh, if Alex doesn’t get back to me by tonight,” says Sooah, gathering her bag and making her way to the door, “I will have definitely progressed to the venting stage.”
It’s still a blur. Experiences, missed calls, tearful fights, passive aggressive texts. They’re all there, swimming around in a sea of deteriorating relationships, while Sooah struggles to pinpoint a time and place to each of them. She can’t, though, not when it’s a blur and the only tangible thing she can feel is the dull throb in her chest that seems to have no distinct cause, only a constancy impossible to ignore.
Sooah stares at her phone, big and black on her bed. She won’t call Chaeyoung tonight, no matter what happens. It’s just not the night. She’s going to have to have a tough conversation with at least one important person in her life, and it all depends on whether her past with Jimin has damaged her to the point of second-guessing every relationship she ever has in her life.
She thinks of the word Chaeyoung used. Baggage. Implying that it’s not Jimin that’s the problem, but whatever she’s still carrying from their time together, including the sweet and shy smile, all the way up to the orange hair and dumbass smirk.
Face the past head-on, make the future a little clearer.
Sighing, she picks up the phone.
Thank you for reading. Don't forget to drop a review :)

Harbouring a Hybrid - Part 5 Jimin Au
Tumblr media
Jimin Hybrid au ft the EXO members for this chapter 3K words, italics are the past. Trigger warnings: grievous bodily harm, illness, self inflicted harm, mentions of torture, blood, angst, wounds, death.
“I found him, over,” you buzz into the walkie talkie, approaching the figure cautiously.
“What’s your location Echo? Over,” but you ignore the question, brows furrowing as you take in the hunched figure in the abandoned building development. The wind was cold but that wasn’t what caused a shiver to go down your spine, it was the laboured breaths you could hear coming from the hybrid.
“Hey,” you call, ignoring your instincts to run when goosebumps prickle your skin.
You stumble back when he turns suddenly, the red of his glazed eyes on your form like lasers. There’s a deep growl, completely inhuman resounding out of his chest like a warning.
You freeze like a deer in headlights, fitting since the lion hybrid in front of you looked ready to devour his meal.
“What the fuck…” Jeongin joins you, cautiously standing beside you, his arms out as if to appease the hybrid in front of you both. He wasn’t in lion form but he didn’t look human, you hated the thought but he looked like a monster. He sniffs the air, the presence of another male in his territory sets him off, the low growl he emits isn’t the only warning. You can both guess what’s about to happen when he recoils back, not in surrender but poised to attack.
“Run!” You barely hear yourself with the roar thundering through the air stirking you both with a terror you’ve never felt in your life, but Jeongin must’ve heard you or at least had some sense if he didn’t. The pair of you witness a glimpse of the lion hybrid lunging towards you, but you don’t look back to check whether he’s chasing you, the sound of his feet slamming on the ground with each step tells you that.
“D.O we have a problem!” Jeongin screams into the device, forgoing the usual ending term as you both run fearing for your lives.
“Kai hold on,” you both hear your leader's voice through the static, the sound muted as the blood pumped through your ears.
“Shit…” Kyungsoo watches you both running towards him as he walks out into the middle of a cross junction between the shells of half built buildings. The weapon in his hands feels heavy, but he doesn’t have the heart to put a bullet in the hybrid, even as he begins to shift into a half beast. The sight is gruesome, half his face shifted, one leg, parts of his arms and chest, as if a demon had inhabited the body and was trying to get out.
The pair of you screamed at him to run, the lion catching up to you both albeit slowly, his half shifted form causing him to stumble in his gait, unbalanced but unable to consciously change completely. Kyungsoo raises his gun ready to take the shot to save them all but you yelled at him not to. That weapon was to protect the hybrids if they were to encounter hybrid patrol, it was a last resort.
“There’s still a chance!” Your lungs burned, but you refused to give up on whatever creature was chasing you.
“We can capture him in the van!”
He hesitates, Junmyeon could decide what was best, they needed to find him. He starts running, the rifle still in his hands. He waits for you both to overtake him before he picks up his speed, making sure if the lion was to succeed in his attack he would go first, giving you time to escape.
From a distance the sound of sirens blare into the air, growing louder and louder. The lion freezes, halting in his chase. You look back, seeing a glimpse of recognition in his eyes. He loses interest in you all, and against your survival instincts you stop running.
“We need to go, that’s hybrid patrol!” Kyungsoo instructs, pulling on your arm as he passes you, trying to get you to keep running.
“We can’t leave him!” You yell back, pulling him back to stop.
The man in the beast lets out a distraught scream, the sound drowning the sirens momentarily before he grunts.
“Why is he doing that,” you whisper, the pair of you watching the hybrid tear into his own flesh with his claws and teeth, as if he knew what the sound of sirens meant for him.
“Y/n,” Kyungsoo tugs at your sleeve again, his voice suddenly thick. You look at him, he knew what was happening, the sorrow in his eyes told you that.
“Get in the van!” Your leader shouts as he runs towards you both with Jeongin by his side, taking your hand when he reaches you but one glance at the bleeding hybrid has him staggering in his step.
“Seokjin…”
“Where is he?” Junmyeon says in place of greeting the second he’s through the door. Sehun engulfs the older male into a hug, feeling the stress radiate off him like a siren the same as Jeongin.
“In the basement,” he replies, the bags under his eyes turning purple. It had been a week since their phone call and seemingly in that time everything went from bad to worse.
Neither male could sleep when their nights were filled with louding distraught wailing coming from the feline hybrid they were hiding under the house.
“He’s got a temperature and no appetite, but I can’t smell anything yet,” Sehun informs the leader, trying his best to be helpful. “He’s been in and out of it, he keeps calling for Y/n whether he’s awake or asleep.”
“It’s just hybrid flu, right Hyung?” Jeongin asks cautiously, his heart hammering for Jimin. “It’s been a week, it has to be.”
“Or it’s phase one.” He didn’t have to elaborate.
“There’s nothing we could have done,” Junmyeon announces quietly to your sombre heads hanging low in the back of the van. Kyungsoo glances at the rearview mirror at you all, feeling the guilt and defeat radiate off of you and Jeongin like waves. Junmyeon, aka Suho, and he had been doing this for far longer than you rookies, they learnt to deal with the grief of being unable to save a hybrid.
“Why was he like that?” you finally break the silence you had been holding since the journey back began, looking up at the leader of your rescue team with watering eyes, unable to get the sight of that hybrid out of your mind.
“That wasn’t hybrid flu,” Jeongin pipes in, his voice heavy as he refuses to look at anyone.
“Chen got the intel wrong,” Suho sighs, referring to Jongdae, the missing member of the ‘animal shelter’. “It’s difficult to differentiate between hybrid flu and…”
“And what?” you press. “What was that?”
There's a pause in the air, the two older men trying to find the words to explain to you the disease that you witnessed first hand.
“Intracranial hybrid deformation,” Kyungsoo breaks the silence unwillingly, but someone had to tell you. “A chemical imbalance caused by extreme emotional distress, it inflames the cerebrum before eating away at the grey matter, it makes them feral.”
“I’ve seen feral hybrids before Hyung,” Jeongin says sternly as if D.O was trying to trick him, “that was something else.”
“Worse than feral,” Suho explains. “They’re like zombies, there’s nothing there, no thought process, just instinct and violence, to others, to themselves.”
“There’s no cure?”
“If you haven’t noticed, the world isn’t thinking about healing hybrids,” Kyungsoo says with angry sarcasm, his hands gripping the steering wheel so hard his knuckles turn white. He sighs at the silence that follows after his harsh words, but none of you were here to enjoy yourselves. You were a small minority trying to do the right thing in a disgusting world.
“There was nothing we could’ve done to save him?” You ask, your bottom lip trembling as you remember the traumatising scenes.
Suho shakes his head solemnly.
“Hyung you recognised him,” Jeongin mumbles, timidly glimpsing at Junmyeon to make sure he didn’t cross a line.
“He’s a… friend I’ve been trying to save for a while,” he confesses, his face scrunching in pain as he tries to dissociate himself from the situation. “I thought he was alright, I thought…”
Suho exhales a shaky breath, looking to the front of the van as his tears fall, grieving the loss in private.
You sniff, turning away from him so he wouldn’t see you cry either. All you wanted to do was go home to Jimin, hug your hybrid as hard as you could and never let him out of your sight.
Something inside of him wasn’t right since you left, it all felt wrong. His head hurt so much, he blamed it on all the crying he couldn’t stop. When was the last time he had something to drink when it wasn’t being coaxed into him by Jeongin or Sehun. Or something to eat.
This was all your fault. You left him. You broke your promise to never leave him. He feels a sudden flare of anger overtake him at his intrusive thoughts. The pounding of his head is almost crippling but he still manages to stagger off the bed, falling unceremoniously for a feline on the floor. He’s so out of breath he’s almost panting, eyes glaring at the stairs that led out of this prison. They locked the door, they kept him in here like an animal, and you trusted them to keep him safe.
Just like he trusted you.
As if the room could hear his anger, it responded with a groan, the door opening revealing a shadow at the top. Whoever he was, he looked like an angel peering down into the depths of Hell, Jimin wondered if his time had come, if all your sacrifices ended in irony. The figure takes a step down towards his inferno, each step echoing against the walls and reverberating into Jimin’s skull.
When Junmyeon reaches the bottom, his eyes meet the feline crouching pitifully on the ground, his hands on his head as if cradling it, like it was too heavy to carry on his shoulders. There isn’t an ounce of trust in either of their eyes, there were too many consequences to trust. Both men learnt that the hard way.
“Jimin,” Junmyeon greets him, keeping his distance. Sehun stood by the door listening, just in case. “My name’s Suho, do you remember we’ve met?”
“That’s your codename,” Jimin hisses, unable to get the words out any other way with the current weight crushing his skull from the inside. “I know who you are.”
Jimin does remember, years ago when you saved him, Junmyeon visited when you took him in. He was the one that provided you with all the scent blockers to hide him, all the rules to keep you both safe. Well those rules failed, in Jimin’s eyes the man to blame was standing in front of him. He should have known, he should have kept a closer eye on you, especially if he knew who your parents were.
“Then you’ll know the predicament I’m in,” he sighs. “It’s my job to keep everyone safe, and right now no one is.”
“She won’t tell them anything,” Jimin mutters through gritted teeth, eyes closing as his head pounds, unable to even say your name any more but he still comes to your defence.
“You don’t know how far they’re willing to go…” he replies honestly, his eyes never leaving the hybrid’s form. What he wants to say is on the tip of his tongue, but he fights with himself whether it's a good idea. Does he make the hybrid aware of what could potentially happen to him? Does he tell him about trying to get you out to give him some hope to hold on to, but if they failed…
His whole intention of meeting the feline again was to ascertain his health, the signs Sehun and Jongin would miss. The signs Junmyeon wishes weren’t glaringly obvious.
“Jimin,” he doesn’t know what compels him to say it in the end, pity? Or maybe the hope that maybe the hybrid could hold on. “We’re going to get her out.”
Despite the overwhelming pain of doing so, JImin looks up at the man in charge, the man who without, you would not have been able to save him all those years ago. There’s a flare of longing in his chest that wants to believe him, but he’s too afraid to.
Maybe he was right to hold back his trust, Junmyeon doesn’t tell him they’ve already tried and failed, but they wouldn’t give up.
You’ve lost count how many days it had been, every room you inhabited was dark, isolating, cold. Delirious didn’t even begin to describe what you were feeling, it was dangerous to feel so out of control, you were trying so hard to get a grip, to make sure you kept your mouth shut. You were terrified you had already let something slip, in that state between consciousness and sleep, what if you had told them everything?
The door opens, the creak of the metal echoing across your prison. Weakly you lift your head to greet your next battle, watching the familiar shadow of a man approach you.
Pull yourself together Y/n, you have to keep Jimin safe.
But your determination drowns as your guest utters his greeting, maybe your worst fears were right, maybe you had told them everything unwillingly.
“Hello Echo.”
You cost Jimin his safety.
Your heart leaps to your throat in shock as your mind tries to navigate you. The figure in front of you sways, mirrors of his image dispersing into his surroundings like a raindrop hitting calm water. It takes you a second to focus but in that second you have a thousand incoherent thoughts.
“You’ve been quiet since you got back,” Jimin mumbles into your hair.
You were both on the sofa, lying on your sides, cuddling. Jimin wasn’t complaining, not in the slightest, but the way you had buried your head in his chest had his worry turned to overdrive. Your arms hold him tighter around his waist at his words, and he knows then something was really wrong.
The feline hybrid obviously knew of your ‘second job’ at the ‘Exo - animal shelter’, it was how he came into your life, but that didn’t mean he liked it. It was an awful guilty feeling, knowing that you were doing the world good, saving people like him, but he couldn’t stop thinking about your safety. What if you got caught, not all hybrids were friendly, what if you didn’t come back, what if something took you away from him? What if you found another hybrid and wanted him out, what if you fell in love with someone else? What if you got hurt?
He tried not to spiral every time you went on a mission but he couldn’t help it, the least he could do for you was hold his thoughts back, and welcome you with open arms when you came home. He always knew when it wasn’t good news, whenever you managed to save someone you came home with a smile of victory on your face. But when you failed, you turned into a zombie, expressionless, silent, and withdrawn. Normally Jimin had to coax you back to him, back into his arms until he could soothe the trauma away, but today you sought him out first, your eyes shining the way they did after you cried.
“Y/n?” he tries to see your face but it's hidden from him, he gets a glimpse as you shake your head against his chest. You didn’t want to talk about it, and he wouldn’t press you. His arms wrap around you as if he could protect you the way you did him. He would keep his human safe, no matter what.
“Jongdae…?” You breathe, recognising the familiar face that grins despite his eyes glancing at every single one of your wounds with worry.
“They really did this to their own child,” he remarks quietly, the sick feeling in his stomach turning into rage. Evil didn’t do the description justice, your parents were something else entirely.
Jongdae was their informant, the one closest to the firing range, in the most danger living in the Devil’s mouth undercover for Exo, but he was also the reason your rogue team was able to save so many. He was far more important to the cause than you were which is why you were panicking about his presence.
“You can’t be here,” you harshly whisper, eyes on the door, flickering to the cameras, knowing it was too late, whoever was watching must have figured it out.
“I’ve looped the feed, relax,” he says softly to calm you down, watching you wince with every movement you made. “Tomorrow we’re going to get you out of here.”
“You can’t,” you shake your head desperately despite it causing your vision to blur and spin, only one concern burning through your mind. “They’ll hunt Jimin, no-”
“Shhhh, listen,” he doesn’t have much time left, your parents would be back soon. “Just trust us, we need to get you out of here, Jimin-”
He hesitates, not knowing if it was wise to tell you, but if he didn’t you might resist their rather daring and suicidal escape plan.
“Jimin what?” the panic in your eyes changes, your gaze no longer blurry but focused on the man in front of you. “What’s wrong with Jimin?”
Your breathing shallows but grows heavier by the second, a dull ache spreads across your chest. You did this to save him, you sacrificed your life for his, he had to be okay, he has to be.
Jongdae watches you hyperventilate, knowing what he was about to tell you would make it so much worse, but you deserved to know.
“He might have intracranial hy-”
“No.” You’re shaking your head again, refusing to listen to his words as if that would stop it from being true. “No, Jimin’s strong, you’re wrong.”
“He’s starting to get symp-”
“It’s the flu,” you disregard him, an awful violent sick feeling making its way up your throat. “It's not- no.”
A heart wrenching whimper leaves you, bottom lip wobbling so hard as you begin to cry with the realisation of what you had done, what the consequences of your so called heroic actions were. He doesn’t have the heart to tell you why, he can’t tell you you’re Jimin’s mate.

Vampire’s New Maid /Jimin x Reader
Tumblr media
Chapter 3 Part 1
Genre:fluff/smut/angst
Summary: After working with him all day and him bringing Y/N downtown to get clothes. He takes Y/No’s blood and wants an answer the next day. Y/n tells Jimin yes but it get complicated when she tells him her symptoms.
Warnings: blood, wounds, criticizing Y/N, starts of smut.
Y/N’s POV
Walking out of the office to shut the doors, I look back to see Jimin waiting for me with a gentle smile. “ Thank you. I could have done that though.” I shake my head head with small smile, “ No , if I am going to take care of you I could do such a small thing as shutting a couple of doors on my way out. Although, thank you for your kindness Jimin.”
He laughs which makes his eyes close,” You know as much as I have maids and butlers I have been able to take care of myself so far, you know.” He looks at me with a smirk and speaks again,” I am going to have to get use to this. I mean you taking care of me. Mostly the maids and butler's that I have are for the guests and to give humans jobs that are needed. I don’t use them for myself, really.”
I look up at him with appreciation,” Thank you.” I speak softly while hiding my smile by liking down. He begins walking while directing me to walk with him by his hand on my mid-back. “ Thank you? Why are you thanking me?” He looks down at me through his peripheral. I speak softly,” I’m thanking you for giving people like me jobs and taking people off the streets. Another, thing I am thankful for is you allowing me to have this job. When it looks like you like to take care of yourself, so again, thank you.” Jimin doesn’t speak for some time while we walk to the east side of the third level hallway.
“You don’t have to thank me Y/N because us vampires are supposed to take care of humans. Not only because they are our food source, but also because they are another life trying to survive just like everything else.” He sighs and speaks again with a tone of disappointment,”Although, not all vampires thinks this way. Some abuse their power that they have. They don’t respect others and I believe I am rich today because of others, so I want to respect them.”
I was about to speak, but I forced my mouth close in order to control my emotions. My eyes starts watering and my throat tightens because I realize of how lucky I got to have Jimin as my boss. Instead of what I heard about him he is quite the opposite, and the rest are just rumors because he is kind and generous. I am just worried to find out later that he is going to be different. Like what if he doesn’t like me in the future?
“ You okay? I sense that you are worried and scared. Did I say something wrong?” I shake my head, “No you didn't... It's just I met you only for maybe an hour, but I'm already afraid that you won't like me when you get to know more of me.” I spoke honestly while we stopped before a door and the door next to us is a set of double doors of the other tower like structure.
“ You don't have to worry about that because I can tell I already like you. When I usually meet new maids or butlers they lie right off and try to get into my pants, or get my money. When you answered all my questions you told me the truth and that's what really maters. What humans don't realize is that when they lie they give off a certain phermone that screams to me not to trust them, and I don't trust them or like them.”
I look up at his coffee colored eyes that has a crestfallen look when I speak, “ I'm sorry that you have to go through such a thing. No one should have to go through that.” He smiles down at me with a grateful smile and looks at the door in front of us, while opening it. “ Anyway, this is the room that you'll be staying in. I hope you enjoy it and if you want to change anything please let me know.”
I step past him Jimin while peering around the room. There is a king size bed and a golden blanket with bed curtains that wrap around the mahogany four poster bed frame. There is a bureau and by it there is a window showing the backyard. On the opposite side of the bed there is another door that has a joined bathroom that leads to the tower like structure. Again everything is wooden in the room with gold and crystal light fixtures. Under the bed is a mixture of dark royal blue and light blue fluffy rug.
In the bathroom I can see wooden walls except the shower that has glass doors going into a white pebbled rock backsplash. The handles and the faucets are gold. Next to the shower is a big white porcelain bathtub with golden clawed feet at the bottom. On the opposite side of the bathroom; their is a white quarts counter top and sinks that go above the counter into a bowl shape. A mirror with the same light fixture above and by the counter top is a door that leads to the toilet with a golden handle.
Walking back to Jimin I smile with a toothy grin that shows my one dimple and say, “It's excellent! Absolutely beautiful and big! I just want to be in here all the time, thank you so so much for such an extravagant room. Truly thank you.” Looking into his eyes with a joyful expression with tears in my eyes. “ Great! I am glad you like it.” I shake my head,” Like it?! I love it Jimin. Really I do.” “Good good, after you're done with unpacking knock on my room’s door. Which is right next to yours. Actually, now that I think about it we have the same bathroom. I hope that is okay with you?”
“Jimin, it's more than okay and I mean look at this room and the opportunities you have given me so far. We just have to let each other know that the bathroom occupied somehow.” Jimin nod this head and looks around while thinking. “ How about I get locks for the doors and when one of us is using the bathroom we look the doors.” I nod in agreement,” Yes, that's a wonderful idea.”
Putting his hands in his pockets he starts heading out the door. “ well start unpacking and knock on my door when your done okay?” I nod an okay as he looks back at me before ducking out the door. Once the door is shut I imeddiatly run to throw myself on the bed feeling lucky at this moment. Taking a deep relaxing breath I start to get up to grab my purse that I had with me. Taking out my oral hygiene bag and putting in the top drawer of the sink closest to my room. I then take out my makeup bag putting it in the second drawer. Then at the very bottom of my purse I took my clothes that I have and put it in the bureau. Last but not least I put my journal under my pillow.
Finished I look around the room one more time before I started to head to Jimin’s room to knock on one of the double doors. Opening the doors quickly be spoke in an astonished tone,” Done already? I at least expected you to take an hour. Do you not have much?” I look down at my feet in embarrassment, “ Well, with taking care of my brother since both parents of my died when I was fifteen I didn't have much money to spend on myself.” He looked at me sorrowfully while talking with regress,” I apologize I shouldn't have assumed and I'm really sorry about your parents Y/N. Not only that, but having to grow up quick as well.” walking out of his room he grabs my hand to pull me into a tight hug. I hugged him back while thanking him for the hug.
“ I'm sorry to ask, but do you mind that I look at what type of clothing you have because when you come to business meetings with me you have to have appropriate clothing. That is, if you don't mind” Stepping away from the hug I speak with hesitation,” No I don't mind as long as you don't laugh at what I do have.”
He immediately shakes his head no. While putting his hands on my upper arms rubbing them comforting. “ No I would never, truly I didn't mean to make you uncomfortable about what you have.” I look down and turn around to walk in my room. “No your fine. It's just a sensitive topic for me because I was bullied for not having popular clothing, so really it's not your fault.” he stops to turn me around and lift my head with his thumb and index finger in order to make me look up at him. He speaks softly,” You don't have to feel like that here. I will buy you clothes okay? I want you to feel not only comfortable with me, but living here as well.”
Giving him a soft smile, “ Okay and again thank you. If you do buy me cloths can you please take it out of my paycheck? I don't want to owe you or anyone anything.” Jimin smirks at me with a gleam in his eyes,” How about this because of the clothing that I will get you is more than your paycheck. You can work it off instead, hmm?” I nod reluctantly, “ Okay, but just so you know I don't want really expensive things.” Jimin looks at me with respect, but nods anyway. After seeing him nod I lead him to the bureau. Stopping in front of it with Jimin right next to me. I open the top drawer only to find inside two pairs of jeans, one white t-shirt, one long sleeve, and in between is my baby blue hoodie that I wear when I sleep.
“This is all that I have except the second drawer which has my socks and undergarments. I know it's not a lot, but I am grateful of what I do have.” Looking at him peering down at what I have looking remorseful with a frown on his face. I don't speak, but grab his hand to make him look away from the drawer. “ So can I see your room? You know to clean and stuff?” I spoke to hopefully avoid the conversation of what he saw. Jimin looks at me with a sad smile but nods.
“Sure, let me show you around and tell you how I like things kept.” Still holding his hand he brings me to his room. Walking through one of his opened doors I see that everything looks the same in my room, but his is rounded and the walls is full of windows that are ceiling to floor which leads to another balcony. Jimin’s bed is close to the bathroom, but on the opposite side close to the double doors is a walk in closet.
“ I don't really care how you make my bed as long as it's tucked in and the pillows are above the covers. As you can see there is papers on my bed which I will show you how I like to organize them later in my office. For my clothes I like them all pressed and the shirts are with shirts and the pant are with pants. If I use any jewelry I wipe them down after every use and once a month I polish the ones I used. I don't care how you organize them for they are all silver. I clean and polish my dress shoes once they get dull or dirty. Plus, they are organized by color. I sweep my room every day and dust my room every other day. The bathroom I clean twice a week and the bathtub after every use. I clean my windows and window seals every other week.”
Jimin speaks shyly while giggling, “ I hope it's not too much.” I deny while having a soft spot for him already. “I had to do way worse in the past so don't sweat it Jimin. This is nothing.” I turn to him and grin at him reassuringly and he smiles back gratefully. Relaxing a bit before changing directions to the double doors after he grabs the papers off the bed. “Well lets go to my office. I usually take the new maid to the head maid in order for them to start working, but since you'll be working with me you won't be needing to.” I whisper softly, “ Ah, Okay.”
In his office Jimin explains how he likes to keep his papers organized by alphabetical order and by subject. Then he showed me how he likes to keep his office clean and tidy and what not to touch. The only place he doesn't like me to go out on is both balconies. Once he is done he sat at his desk to answer emails about the farming community, and what needs to checked on or fixed up. Meanwhile, I organize his files and papers he's handed me.
As he accomplished the emails I can see him staring at me through my peripheral. I get nervous, but continue until I'm finished with my work. “Done”, I hum with a satisfied smile. “ Good we have shopping to do.” He spoke with decision by standing up. “ Jimin? It's almost dinner time though. Don't you need to feed?” He looks at me and chuckles, “ True, but I won't feed until we get back, but first we need to go shopping and get your clothes because we will have a meeting tomorrow. After shopping we will get you something to eat and drink so you won't get sick or pass out when I feed from you.
“ Okay, but please let's not be too long because you need rest.” Lauging,” Okay mom.” Next thing I knew he's grabbing my hand to walk out of the office doors. Closing the office doors and locking them with his keys he turns around to look at me he speaks,” Let's go.” By the time we get to the stairs he's already on the phone speaking,” Yes, Mr. godfried please pull the car to the front of the house. Y/N and I will be going shopping down town for clothes.... Okay thank you.” Jimin hangs up the phone finishing the conversation as he asks me,” So what do you think of the house so far?” Looking down to where I'm walking so I don't face plant I reply,” It's like a dream. I couldn't imagine getting the chance to live here and to actually think I am. I'm speachless really.” “ Oh, well thank you for the compliment on the house. I worked really hard on the design and the interior.” Smiling,” No problem it's truly how I feel.” Smirking he replies,” I know I can smell it.” I stop on the first level staircase to laugh,” Man I am going to have to get use to you speaking like that. I was so shocked and then I realized it's kinda funny that you can smell if I am telling the truth or not.” Jimin frowns,” Yeah ha, I guess it can be funny, but it can also be a curse as well because it hurts sometimes to know when a person you thought you could trust starts lying to you.” “ Oh, I'm sorry I wasn't trying to make fun of you, believe me. I was just telling you how I felt. I truly didn't mean to offend you.” I said worrying he won't like me anymore.
“Please forgive me Jimin.” I look up at him and he speaks,” I'm not mad Y/N and you know that I know when you tell the truth. I just wanted to be honest with you myself. Come on David is waiting by now.” Grabbing my hand again I became quite as he pulls me down the stairs to the front door.
Getting into the backseat with Jimin closing the door Mr. Godfrid greets me,” Miss.L/N nice to see you again so soon.” I smile noticing he isn't grumpy with me anymore. “Nice to see you too Mr. Godfried.” Jimin looks at me with an eyebrow raised, “ What did you do to get on his good side so quickly. It took me a couple of months for him to like me.” He pouts and I shrug,” I don't know. I guess because I was nice and always spoke respectfully to him.” He scoffs,” Hmm okay. I think he just likes you.” Surprised I look at him,”What? No way. Jimin he's married.” At this he looks surprised ,” How do you know that, huh?” I smirk at him,” Look at his left hand there is a ring on his finger.” He looks and then breaths out an, “ Oh.” I belly laugh and Jimin starts craking up as well. He looks up at me and says,” Whoopies.”
Arriving downtown I bounce out of the limo with excitement. “ I haven't gone shopping for year's! Come on! Let go” Pulling on his sleeve like a child in a candy shop when I suddenly stop. Putting hair behind my ear I ask humbled,” Um, where are we going exactly?” Giggling he speaks, “ To the boutique that's named “ Business Attire for Men and Women.” walking down the old street as it is lit up beautifully with the lamps and hanging lights. We stop at the corner where the boutique is at to hear Jimin clear his throat before he turns around to look at me. “This is going to different unlike regular shopping. First they are going to measure you and then you're to pick out cloth and designs. Do you understand?” I nod my head as he opens the door for us to go in.

Easy - Jimin scenario (angst/smut)
Tumblr media
Summary: When being “friends with benefits” turns out a little different
Members: Jimin x Reader
Genre: Angst/ smut
Word count:
Warnings: mature, alcohol, fighting, cussing
A/N: This is JIMIN’s POV. Enjoy.
Maybe right now I sound “crazy”, “cold”, etc… I care about Y/N, I do care about her as a person. I knew making her feel all special, doing little things such as caressing her cheek, spending time with her in bed, going to places, kissing her more often and such will do something wrong. I never wanted it to come this way, but it did. I was an asshole, I admit. I went out with other girls, while over some days I give her attention. I was in the wrong too.
No one knew about it. We both were in the same friend group, that Is how we know each other. I went through some shitty breakup not long ago. Some breakups do change people. Seeing Y/N being interested in me was… Fun. What I meant by “interested” was she’ll watch me, make jokes to make me smile, get close to me, always sit next to me on, throw her hands around me, hug me, flirting. It didn’t take long just to catch up with her.
This is how it started and how everything went down.
For a while now something has been going on between us. Simple touches, flirting. I honestly loved how in the group no one knew about anything, but when we made out in front of them, it was like we weren’t there. Everyone minded their own business.
Every Friday and Saturday we were all hitting the clubs. Y/N would either stay close by my side or observe from afar. Smiling we put our glasses in the air. “To a great night!” Gray spoke up and we all drank up to that. Leaning over the fence, I watched the club. We always stayed in the VIP section. From the top, it was a good bottom view of everything and everyone. Gray and I most of the time watched around to see if there were any girls to pull. Y/N stepped next to me, looking around. “What’s good pretty girl?” I smirked and licked my lips, looking at her then away “Who me?” she pointed at herself playing “dumb” Both of us shared a laugh. I threw my arm around her shoulders pulling her closer to me.
“Are you having fun?” she spoke up looking up at me. I nodded my head in agreement and kept looking around “Are you?” I asked looking at her sparkly eyes. She was already half-drunk. It was her thing. “Ummm… Not yet.” She spoke up
I knew what she meant by it. She took my hand in hers and led me downstairs to the dance floor. I couldn’t help myself but keep looking around for someone else. Not that I didn’t like Y/N, at the moment, but somehow I just felt that way.
She was trying her hardest to keep my focus on her, but I kept focus on another girl. I placed my hands on Y/N’s waist and pulled her in. “Go to others, I’ll stay here a bit” I spoke to her ear and she nodded her head. I didn’t think at that moment she was hurt or something. She looked fine.
I walked up with a small smile towards this girl and started talking to her. Not quickly after, my hands feeling up her body so well. It was so fucking hot I couldn’t believe it. After a while, I came back upstairs alone. Somehow it seemed like everyone is acting in a way. Gray asked me to talk and we stood by the fence. I held my drink in my hand. “Y/N made a scene…” he said looking at me “For what for?” I didn’t understand, I downed everything in my glass and poured myself another drink from the table next to us. “Because you left her alone there and went to some other girl.”
I sigh, looking around. I found it funny actually. Why is she doing this? “Look-“ “Jimin, look. I don’t want to get into what you guys do or have, but I think you have done a little more, so she maybe has feelings.” Gray cuts me off and nods his head
My eyes scanned the place to see where Y/N is. There she was dancing with Mia, as nothing has happened. For a split second, I was mad, I was angry.
Quickly I rush toward them and politely ask Mia to leave us alone. Y/N’s smile appeared on her face. “Y/N why making a scene for nothing?” I spoke with a straight face on, slowly her smile disappeared and she understood what I meant by it. “I just felt angry and hurt because you left me there to go with some other girl Jimin.” My face went from serious to shook. I raised my eyebrows and laughed. “Hold up, are we a couple? Do WE have something?” I point at myself then at her “We do have something…” she said looking straight at my eyes “I think we both know, we don’t involve feelings into this.” “I can’t believe this-“ “I can’t fucking believe it too Y/N. Stop making stupid scenes that are not even worth making.” I raised my voice a little being frustrated. Y/N threw her drink at me and pushed me slightly walking away. I licked my lips and turned around. I took the glass and threw it across almost hitting someone. Y/N didn’t even bother turning around-
Gray and Simon rushed towards me making me stop. Guards already came up and told me to leave the club. We all gathered and had to leave. After a while, I felt bad for making us all go home. I didn’t feel anything for Y/N at that moment, it was a fucking straight line.
Walking out of the taxi, we all walk into Namjoon’s apartment where we all gathered around before. I felt alcohol hitting me. Anger was building inside of me. “How the fuck can she spill a fucking drink at me?” I said sitting down on the couch “Jimin-“ “It’s not my fault! Like damn you wanted me too in the first place.” I kept talking and the boys just listened to what I had to say.
Later that night, around 2AM, we were all still awake and someone knocked on Namjoon’s door. Walks in Y/N and Mia together. Dark went over my eyes. At that moment I couldn’t even manage to look at Y/N. I stood up and just walked past her like she didn’t exist. I shut the door of the room where I was sleeping and sat down on the bed looking down at my hands. I took a deep breath and exhaled, trying to calm my nerves down.
I hear a knock on the door and the doorknob turning. “Go away.” I said “Can we talk?” walks into Y/N and shuts the door behind her. She never listens I shook my head and didn’t want to even look at her. I felt her sit on the bed next to me. It was dark in the room. City lights were the only light that lit up the room a little. I threw my head back, closing my eyes. “Y/N. Can you make it quick so I can just go to bed?” finally the silence broke “I just wanted to say sorry for throwing a drink at you and for making the scene.” Her soft voice was music to my ears honestly. She was so calming, she had something in her that always calms my nerves. “Y/N, just, please. Please don’t fall in love with me.” I was honest and direct. I felt bad, but it was best for both of us. She stayed silent and kept looking down at her hands, playing with her rings. I watched her face. Her eyes were a little more cristal, which meant she was tearing up. We’ve known each other for enough time that I can understand every detail. She quickly stood up trying to leave, but I took her by the wrist, stopping her. We stood facing each other. She didn’t want to look at me. “Y/N…” I spoke “Nahh… It’s okay Jimin. I’m fine.” She laughed and nodded her head avoiding looking into my eyes. My fingers gently grab her chin making her face me. “Why are your eyes watery then?” I asked tilting my head a little. She slaps my hand away. I admit it did hurt a little. “They are not.” she was making sure she sounded fine. The two of us stayed silent for a few seconds before chuckling a bit. “God I hate you.” She shakes her head, finally making eye contact with me.
I had this urge to kiss her. I wasn’t angry anymore, I just wanted to feel her, kiss her, touch her. Why are my feelings and moods changing so fucking fast I don’t even know.
My hands traveled around her waist. I took a few steps towards her, making Y/N bump against the door. I kiss her passionately, I still could feel the alcohol on her lips, she tasted so good. Her hands wrap around my neck. My hand traces down her neck, to her breasts. Quickly I take off the top she had, relieving a white lace bra. Kissing her neck slowly, while my hand grabbed her boob, a moan escape her lips. My hands reach behind and I unclip her bra, making it fall to the ground. “Fuck, I need you now Jimin. Stop being a teaseee” she begged only making me hornier
The two of us took off our clothes fast, she made me lay down on the bed and crawled on top of me. She only had her panties on. Y/N began to rock her hips against me, I lifted myself a little and put my hand on her back, pulling her towards me, kissing her neck, and shoulders. Heavy breathing started, moans escaping our mouths. I pushed her off and placed myself between her hips. Slowly I took her panties off, kissing her thighs. I could feel the need, the pleasure at the moment. I entered her in a swift motion how wet she was. Y/N closed her eyes, throwing her head back, letting out a moan. “Be quiet Y/N.” I said to her ear. Her hands run through my hair, tugging on it.
She was fucking heaven. I loved the feeling of her pussy around my cock. I was close to cumming inside her but pulled out on time cumming on her beautiful breasts. I saw Y/N smile raising over her face. I quickly wiped everything off her and lay next to her. “Well damn.” She spoke up and I laughed Leaning in I kissed her a few more times, and pulled her closer to me. She was so beautiful.
--
The next day was like any other. Y/N and I got up to take a shower together. In the morning I can’t help myself, but we fucked right there. I felt in a moment like I was addicted to this. I liked it. Liked fucking her, having someone to fuck whenever I wanted to.
It was Saturday, which meant we were going out again. Throughout the day Y/N and I shared eye contact, me touching her ass, teasing her. When the night came, Y/N didn’t want to let me go. Whilst being in the club, she would shake her ass and grind over my dick, turning me on. We drank the whole night, to be dead drunk that we can’t even walk. Y/N loved for me to hold her, kiss her slowly to slow sexy songs. It was such a turn-on for me too. Her tongue touching mine. My hand runs up her neck, holding it gently, whilst I bite on her skin and kiss it. She knew what she was doing to me.
Time flew by, over the week we didn’t see each other as much, but weekends were ours. Gray, Simon, and I went to drink over the weekdays. When Y/N was not around I didn’t think about her, not for a second. I was seeing other girls from time to time, finishing with them, and taking them to my apartment. I love the thrill, the excitement in that. More and more I noticed Y/N calling, and texting. I didn’t like that. We were not in a relationship, it was like she was obsessed with me now. Goddammit Y/N, why are you like this. When over the weekend, I don’t get with her every time, I go and look for someone else. She was getting jealous, sad, and angry without me knowing it. If I knew it then, I wouldn’t at least do that to her in front of her face.
“I’ll be heading to my place,” I yelled so everyone can hear while I held some girl's hand in mine. I was taking her home. I scanned everyone’s faces just to see if they noticed me. Y/N’s face had no emotion. Her eyes were pitch black from my point of view. We stared at each other. She laughed and turned away.
“We’ll head out home too,” Gray spoke
I headed out before them and called a taxi to Namjoon’s place again. It was closer than mine. My hands were all over her body as soon as we walked into the apartment. Namjoon and Simon were already there. “Oh shit… Sorry guys..” I was drunk and laughed walking her to my room.
As we kissed, all I could hear was Y/N’s voice, her being loud. She kept commenting on something. When I heard my name coming out of her mouth I stood up from my bed and quickly put on my shirt over my head and stormed out.
“… He always got to be this way. Fuck him, man, he’s such a bitch-“ I saw Y/N shouting “Who’s a bitch Y/N?” I spoke up and walked towards her “Oh Jimin, don’t you got company?” she said and started to walk away “Do we got a problem Y/N? Huh?” She quickly turned around and came in front of me. “Yeah we fucking do!” she shouted at me and I couldn’t take it “You’re such a piece of shit for treating me this way!” she added and pointed at me I got sober in a minute, all I felt was anger building up, heat in my body. “Well listen Y/N. We were nothing before this. We would never be together, when will you fucking get that in your head?!” I pointed my index finger to my head, looking at her. Her eyes started to water up, but this time I didn’t care.
“Well thank you, Jimin. So you are just going to fuck me then go fuck some other girl!” she was getting angry same as I did. I wasn’t expecting her to raise her voice even more “You’re the same as any fucking girl.” I leaned my face into hers and smiled “You were so fucking easy to get on. Easy to lead on. Fuck. I wrapped you around my little finger.” I laughed at her face, being completely emotionless.
“Thank fuck I won’t see you ever again after this. I can’t look at you anymore.” I added and she stayed quiet.
Gray and Simon tried to talk to me, but I pushed them away. I pushed everything off the table how angry I was. Glasses shattered on the floor and the bottles. “Just so you know Y/N. I cared about you. Let that sink in your head!” I turned and yelled across the room at her. Y/N just nodded her head and fake smiled at me, walking to the other room. For her I didn’t feel anything, it was a straight line from then and on

Let You Fly [Namjoon x Jimin]
Summery: Namjoon and Jimin have been together for only 7 months and it’s been near perfect. The two fit together wonderfully. All changes when Namjoon’s dream job offer slides itself into his inbox. He’d been eyeing the position in Japan for years… It wouldn’t be fair to Jimin to pack up his bags and join Namjoon, but it wouldn’t be fair to Namjoon to try to force him to stay. Instead, Jimin must let him fly.
Pairings: Namjoon (BTS) x Jimin (BTS)
Rating: E for everyone
Warnings: None
Word Count:  3.5k words
Genre: Angst, A touch of fluff
A/N: A big thank you to @bluewhale52 for betaing! Your feedback was soooo helpful!!!!!!!
A/N2: This fic is part of @bangtanwritingbingo’s summer bingo! The prompt for this is “Jimin x Namjoon”!
Song inspiration: Let You Fly by Sunshine State
Tumblr media
The sweet fragrance of the flower shop filled Jimin's nostrils as he worked away on a bouquet order. Jimin hummed along to the soft music that played in the background, his mind zeroed in on putting the flowers together in just the right way. Behind him, Namjoon sat at a small table, typing away on his computer. He was supposed to be on a small break, but like the work loving man he was, he was actually clearing out his inbox. Every once in a while, he'd sigh deeply and run his hands through his hair tiredly when he found an email that he actually had to respond to with thought.
Jimin looked over at him, his heart melting as he watched Namjoon type away, hunched over the computer tiredly. This wasn't a traditional date but it was the perfect sort of date for them. Jimin had a few last minute orders to make and deliver and Namjoon always had work he could do so it worked out perfectly. Namjoon came right from work (well he had stopped by a cafe and gotten a few snacks and some coffee for them), set up the fold up table, put on some music, and got right away to work… after a kiss or ten.
Just an hour more of work and then they'd be on the road. Jimin took a deep breath and continued working on his bouquet. Evenings like these were highlights of his week. Small moments like these meant the world to him. He quickly put the finishing touches on this bouquet and started to move around a tad. Quietly, he cleaned up his station before grabbing a glass of water.
"Don't forget to drink some water, sunshine." Jimin said as he set down the water next to Namjoon's computer and softly rubbing his back.
"Thank you," Namjoon sighed and leaned back in his chair, looking at Jimin with a tired smile on his face, his dimples barely peeking out as he smiled, "How are the bouquets going?"
"I am nearing the end! I think we'll be able to deliver them in an hour or so."
"What a perfect stopping point for me!"
"Oh? Nearing the end of your emails?"
Namjoon snorted, "No but I'll give up then."
"After a valiant effort, I'm sure." Jimin said with a laugh, winking quickly as he joked.
"Absolutely. Is my music ok? I would've done our collaborative playlist but I really needed calmer music today."
"It's wonderful. I've been really enjoying it!"
"I'm glad."
Jimin nodded, leaning down and pecking Namjoon before going back to his work table, a warm buzz filling him as he continued to work. Being with Namjoon constantly left Jimin feeling a soft buzz throughout his body, it seeped into him like how warm drinks heat you up from the hands and stomach. Sometimes it was like a mulled wine that made him feel hot and heady, other times it was like coffee that made him energized and ready for the day ahead, and on nights like tonight, it was like a calming jasmine tea that relaxed and calmed him. In the time that they'd been together, Namjoon had never ceased to amaze Jimin.
After finishing his final bouquet and cleaning his work space, Jimin leaned on the table and looked over at Namjoon. Flowers surrounded Namjoon like a halo of sunlight, hugging tightly to him. He seemed at home with the many floral arrangements as they egged on his challenging work. It made Jimin's heart flutter. They may have only started dating a few months ago, but Namjoon seemed to fit into Jimin's life so perfectly. He should make a bouquet for Seokjin who set them up and maybe a thank you letter to the head of his department who hasn't fielded Namjoon any job offers from out of SNU's Seoul campus.
had to kiss a lot of frogs before you came along
... Would it be too soon to say he loved Namjoon?
Tumblr media
Excitement buzzed through Jimin from where he sat nestled into Namjoon's side, looking out from his spot in the booth to watch his friends talk. Jimin was sipping on a beer laughing as Jungkook started a long story. His eyes were wide and he threw his arms around wildly as he spoke about how serious Hoseok was with shopping.
"It was honestly scary!" Jungkook concluded.
Hoseok laughed and shook his head, "Clothes are a serious topic."
"I would disagree."
"Well Jungkook-ah, you only dress in black so I don't know if you have much ground in this conversation." Jimin said with a laugh.
"Woah! Where did that voice come from?" Jungkook asked, raising his head to intentionally look over Jimin with a mischievous grin.
Namjoon laughed, earning a small slap and eye roll from Jimin, "You're supposed to be on my side, hyung!"
"I'm always on your side, my little Kuroshimae."
Jimin giggled, hiding his face in Namjoon's side as their friends groaned.
"I don't even know what that is, Namjoon-ah." Seokjin said with a sigh.
"Sea sheep!"
"I regret introducing you two."
Yoongi gently pushed against Seokjin, "That's a lie and we both know it."
Namjoon's phone lit up an urgent message notification showing, "Is it ok if I quickly check this message?"
"Sure! I'll get rounds for everyone while you do!" Hoseok said, jumping out of the booth.
"Let me join you!" Taehyung said, quickly scurrying behind Hoseok toward the bar.
Whining as Namjoon grabbed his phone from the table, Jimin looked around the restaurant to give Namjoon space to read the email.
A sharp intake from Namjoon made Jimin look back, "I got a job offer to work for the Oceanography Society of Japan."
It felt like a cold bucket of water washed over Jimin as he looked at Namjoon process the information. Did Namjoon even realize that he said that out loud?
Jimin was frozen as he watched Namjoon finish reading the email. The rest of the restaurant faded away and all he could see was Namjoon and all he could think about was Namjoon got the job he'd been wanting.
Namjoon would leave Jimin, fly to another country, and live there. He'd talked about the possible position when they'd started dating, Jimin knew it was an option, but after two months, they'd both figured that it wasn't going to happen.
Six months later and they decide to accept him?
"Are you ok, Jimin-ah?" Namjoon asked, his eyes wide as he gently touched Jimin's shoulder.
Their friends were looking at them. They couldn't talk about this now, maybe tonight or tomorrow they will but not now.
Taking a deep breath in, Jimin smiled, "I am. Congrats on the job offer, sunflower. I'm so proud of you."
Those words stung Jimin like thorns on roses and once again he was faced with the fact that Namjoon would be leaving him.
pack your bags leave it all for a country far away the job that you'd been dreaming of was calling
Namjoon had tears in his eyes when he spoke, "Thank you. Let's talk about it later?"
Somehow the night progressed painfully slow. Neither Jimin or Namjoon spoke much and soon enough the two were saying good night in the parking lot. Their kisses were slow and sad, tears mixing together.
"Let's talk about my job offer later this week? It's pretty late."
"That sounds like a plan." Jimin said quietly, hugging Namjoon tightly. He took a deep breath and gathered up his courage, "And Namjoon hyung?"
"Yeah?"
"I love you."
"I love you too, Jimin."
It wasn't the end, but it felt like they were nearing a goodbye.
Tumblr media
He was trying to ignore the upcoming conversation with Namjoon by taking extra care of his plants. It was time for most of them to be watered anyways so extra care and a little propitiating was a good thing to throw himself into.
If tears weren't so salty then maybe he would've used his tears to water them instead of tap water.
Taking care to measure out the amount of fertilizer to add to the water, he tried not to focus on Namjoon.
Namjoon.
had to kiss a lot of frogs 'till you finally came along but now we don't have a lot of time to work with
He was such a wonderful boyfriend. In many ways, it felt like Namjoon had slotted into Jimin's perfectly. Jimin treasured their relationship so much and now?
Would they be able to make it?
Fuck… he'd poured too much fertilizer into the water.
As Jimin added more water to the pot, he felt his throat close up as more tears threatened to spill at the same speed as the tap water rushed out of the faucet.
Plants.
Jimin was trying to focus on plants. Taking a shaky breath, he lifted the pot and started to slowly walk around and check the plants. It was becoming easier until he came to Rex, his Begonia Rex, who was sitting proudly in a beautiful ceramic pot that looked like a stack of books. Rex was thriving, new growth sprouting all over and leaves a beautiful deep red.
Namjoon had gifted Jimin Rex.
Namjoon often helped Jimin take care of his plants.
How many plant dates would the two have?
The last one they had was a month ago when Jimin finally decided to repot some of his plants. It was full of laughs and gentle touches.
It was when Namjoon gave him Rex.
Was that going to be their last plant date?
Why did Jimin have to get so attached to Namjoon?
They both knew this was a possibility… but… damn it. Jimin caught feelings. He was in deep.
it hadn't been very long at least according to my closest friends. "Watch your heart. Take it slow. Have some fun." Is all they say but I'm still spending all the time I can with you
Jimin sighed, looking at Rex.
Would this be all he'll have of Namjoon soon?
Could he handle a long distance relationship? Could Namjoon?
A choked sob left Jimin and was absorbed in his plant filled living room. It was all so so much.
This was so so much.
Tumblr media
The picnic blanket was full of some of Jimin’s favorite food: kimbap, mandoo, and gaeran mari. All made with care by Namjoon who, through their couples classes, had been getting so much better with cooking. Jimin didn’t know if he could stomach any of them. Just looking at the beautiful display, made Jimin’s heart hurt with how much care Namjoon had clearly put into the piece. It seemed Namjoon was feeling similar. He'd eaten one Kimbap piece slowly but hadn't touched anything since, the display still looking pretty and organized despite them having laid out the food almost twenty minutes ago.
They were looking out at the other people in the park. It was a bright and sunny day, and it seemed that many people had flocked to the park for some sun and warmth. Someone was playing frisbee with their dog, the two excitedly running around. At one point, the two were rolling around in the grass, the person’s laugh loud and happy. A gaggle of children were playing tag, giggling and shouting plans to each other.  People were biking around.
Just last month they’d planned to do a bike trip together…
Today would have been a perfect day for that.
Everything seemed to be happy around Jimin and Namjoon and it made Jimin feel worse, like they were a stain of sorrow on a bright and happy place. They were like a metaphorical blackcloud in the park.
wish the sun could make you stay
Namjoon sighed, "I think I'm going to take the job offer, Jimin-ah."
Jimin's mouth felt dry at Namjoon's statement. It was exactly what Jimin was expecting but it still felt like an icy cold hand was gripping his heart, wringing it of all its warmth. His eyes stung with budding tears as he looked around, willing himself not to cry as he watched the dog run after the frisbee, running excitedly.
"I want you to. At least, if I was the only reason for you to stay here… I wouldn’t want that. If you had… if you had other reasons to stay then that's a different story." Words caught in Jimin's throat like thick mucus and his slow mind wasn't helping with trying to speak. He reached out and grabbed Namjoon's hand, rubbing it gently and trying to memorize it (who knew how many times he’d see Namjoon’s hands again).
He didn't have the energy or heart to look at Namjoon's face, though.
"I want… Do you want to try long distance? I… I care for you so much, I don't want this to be the end of our relationship. Of us." Namjoon’s voice cracked as he spoke.
"I want to." Jimin felt tears pooling in his eyes as he started to speak, "I'm worried about us though. I don't want this to be a goodbye."
Namjoon gently squeezed Jimin's hand, "I don't either… It does feel like a goodbye though," He sighed, "I also don’t want us to have a bitter goodbye down the line… I want to make us work."
it's so hard to say goodbye and when I do, I want to cry
Jimin looked up, his eyes momentarily focusing on the bright sun and lazily moving clouds behind Namjoon before they focused on him. Namjoon's eyes were red, his cheeks glistening with tears. Shakily, Jimin let go of Namjoon's hand and cupped his face, wiping away some of the tears with his hand.
Jimin cooed and pecked each Namjoon's salty cheeks, "We'll make this work, hyung. I promise." He captured Namjoon's lips in a gentle kiss.
It warmed Jimin gently, his body alight in a calm hug of heat. Namjoon pulled Jimin closer, humming quietly into the kiss.
"I love you, my Kuroshimae." Namjoon said when they pulled apart, their faces still a short distance apart. Jimin giggled and scrunched up his nose as Namjoon's breath, laced with egg and spam, fanned across his face.
"I love you too, but your breath is stinky."
Namjoon leaned back at that, laughing loudly, "I'm sorry. Now, how do we want to make this work? I'd feel better if we had a bit of a plan before I left."
Jimin hummed, nuzzling into Namjoon as he started to speak, "When will you be leaving."
"They want me there to start asap, so in two or so weeks." Namjoon said, his voice cracking as he spoke.
Jimin nodded and sighed, looking out at the park and all the happy park goers as more tears budded in his eyes. This would be a long and hard conversation.
Tumblr media
His favorite show, W, was playing in the background as Jimin meticulously punched holes in the envelopes, a nice stack of twenty already growing on his desk. All around him was mess from a three day frenzied project to make a gift for Namjoon's apartment in Japan. Well it wasn't really a gift for his apartment as much as it was a gift for Namjoon.
A large floral binder that'll hold 210 envelopes with letters and affirmations. He'd seen gifts like these for parents and friends and had taken to doing it for Namjoon as. Hopefully it'll help comfort Namjoon when he is missing Jimin.
Jimin was rushing to finish putting the gift together. He'd spent so much time on the actual letters that organizing them and putting them nearly into all the envelopes had fallen to the wayside, and now he only had two days to slip it into one of Namjoon's suitcases before the flight. Hopefully he'll be able to put it in an already packed one so that Namjoon won't notice that there was a giant lump in his suitcase that he hadn't packed.
Namjoon was leaving painfully soon and it hurt. They'd been spending much time together as if that'd make up for the months they'll be apart for. In Jimin's heart, he knew that no matter how much time they spent together, the distance wouldn't be easy. A shiver ran down his spine at the thought. Namjoon was a source of warmth and comfort in every way. His hugs were like a second home, his dimpled smile a candy that he constantly craved, his voice a soothing song that calmed all of Jimin's nerves.
Would Jimin break because of the distance?
Would they survive?
Jimin felt cold at the idea of them not lasting the distance. He wanted them to last.
He sighed, looking at the envelopes he still had to hole punch and put letters in. The stack was big… if only Namjoon didn't take the job.
If only Jimin begged for him to stay… maybe they wouldn't be in this situation. Maybe they'd be cuddling up together, thinking about renting an apartment together once their current leases were up.
But Jimin couldn't do that. He wouldn't. This was a dream job for Namjoon and trying to keep him here would only breed resentment between them.
it's so hard to say goodbye and when I do I want to cry but I've got to let you fly
Tumblr media
The car was quiet, neither Namjoon or Jimin having energy to make conversation or the will to put on music. It was a stark contrast to the goodbye party their friends hosted just before this and despite the silence being somewhat painful, Jimin was thankful. The excitement and noise from the party was a lot and he needed a reprieve before saying bye to Namjoon.
If Namjoon had found the binder of letters Jimin made, he didn't make any comment. Similarly, Jimin found a large wrapped gift hidden under his bed that Namjoon had most definitely snuck in and he chose not to comment.
He'd open it when he got home from their airport. It would be a kind comfort, a ghost of a hug that Jimin already knew he'd want.
"Oh-- My Kuroshimae, I think you missed the turn," Namjoon looked at the map on his phone, "Yep."
"I-- We're having an adventure. One more adventure for the time being."
Namjoon laughed and nodded, "Alright then, the directions are saying that the next turn will be two blocks away then."
"If you didn't have to be three hours early, I'd suggest we take a few more wrong terms." Jimin said with a giggle.
Namjoon shook his head with a smile, "I'd totally egg you on. Next time though!"
Butterflies erupted in Jimin's stomach at the thought. They've had many a long drive because one of them took the wrong term and they chose to go with it, turning up their road trip playlist and singing excitedly as they drove along.
Oh, how much fit into the six months they've been together.
we walk and we laugh like we'll always be together as we take one step closer to the edge but we still pretend
Despite the wrong turn, the two made it to the airport in good time, quickly parking and unloading Namjoon's things into a cart. The airport towered over them powerfully as they walked towards the entrance. The two anxiously got in line for plane tickets and baggage drop off, their hands tightly clasped together despite the sweat and condensation that was amounting.
All too soon, Namjoon got his bags checked and his tickets. Jimin's gut twisted as a wave of nausea washed over him.
"I hope you have a safe flight."
"I will. I'll threaten the pilot just to be sure. I'll tell them that my Kuroshimae wants me to have a safe flight." Namjoon said with a small laugh.
"I'm sure that'll work." Jimin sighed and kissed Namjoon softly, hoping to keep the memory of Namjoon's kiss in his mind for as long as possible, "You'll rock this job. I just know it."
"Thank you. I love you, Jimin-ah."
"I love you too, Namjoon hyung."
Jimin watched as Namjoon disappeared in the airport, tears quietly flowing and his heart aching. It was cold when he made it back to his car and left the airport. Even his apartment felt cold, no matter how many sweaters or blankets he was wrapped in.
Tumblr media
Jimin's apartment was empty when he entered, tired after a long day of deliveries. In his hands was a fat stack of mail that he was excitedly flipping through, mindlessly taking his shoes off and putting on slippers as he walked further into his apartment.
Spam. Bills. Coupons.
It was all mundane letters and most of which he could do without.
He sighed when he didn't find a letter from Namjoon, the bit of excitement he had stored away vanished with the lack of a letter. It must've been delayed in the shipping for one reason or another.
Hopefully it'll come tomorrow.
Dejectedly, he put the letters down on his kitchen table and went to his bedroom, falling face up on his bed and spreading out like a starfish. He reached over for the only stuffed animal he had in his bedroom and hugged it tightly.
It was a jumbo Costasiella kuroshimae holding a sunflower.
"I miss you." Jimin said into the stuffed animal.
it's so hard to say goodbye and when I do I want to cry but I've got to let you fly

Tumblr media
There’s something so tempting about the things that you know you’ll never have. Like the sugary sweets forbidden to you in childhood, or the sweet allure of danger in adolescence.
Humans were always driven by their instinct to disobey, to pursue the things they knew they shouldn’t, to love the things that were wrong to love.
And you were no different. You were adopting their ways, you yourself were becoming human.
Because maybe you, too, wanted the one thing you knew you would never have: Park Jimin.
You never meant for him to become such a force. You never intended to have this inclination for danger, this longing for affection—it just so happened that with every whisper of his breath, every flutter of his hair, every blink of his lashes, you found yourself more deeply entrenched in the weight of your affection, in the euphoria of loving him.
His sweet voice brought life to you, a creature who thrived on musicality, on rhythm, to survive. He evened the scales of life, a sweet crescendo in a climate of bass, a gentle uptick in a world of gloom.
He became your pillar, drawing you in and taking you out. He was what you needed.
So maybe it was good to love him, to be entrenched in his sweet, sweet voice, to be mesmerized by his glittering brown eyes. But he was human and would always be.
No law said you couldn’t be with him, but the fundamental differences of your nature made for an unlikely match. He’d be far too disgusted by your lack of needs—after all, didn’t humans fall in love because they needed too much? They needed love, they needed food, they needed companionship. If you were fully autonomous of all things… did you still harbour the ability to truly feel love? To be a truly good partner?
He showed you the recesses of his music folder, confided to you the deepest of thoughts that lingered on his mind, offered you a glimpse into the person that he was.
You two sang together, loved together, spent your moments together. But it wouldn’t be enough. It would never be enough.
No matter how beautiful he was, no matter how sweet and pulling his voice would be, nothing would change how addicted you were to the euphoria of his love, nothing would change how mesmerized you were by him.
And aren’t all the best things the worst ones in disguise? It ate away at you until you felt suffocated. When you felt yourself in love it was like something clicked and slowly fizzled out.
Like when he knew he had you, all of a sudden everything changed. Like a siren finally holding their captured, the blissful illusion melted away to reveal sharp claws and fearsome fangs.
It wasn’t love anymore, it was temptation. It would always be temptation of a thing too good to be true. That initial phase of falling in love was filled with false promises, filled with lies and misperceptions of a wholesome love.
No, love didn’t exist. Not when it came to humans.
Temptation. It would always be temptation.

Seokjin: Jin forgets just how big he is sometimes and how intimidating that can be. Which is why, when he swung around suddenly to say something and saw you take a small step back, he was confused for a moment before it hit him, and he froze. The room had fallen silent, both of you unsure of what to do or how to proceed. "I didn't mean to-" "I know." You stopped him before he could finish. "Cause you know I would never-" "I know, baby, it was just a reflex." You told him, knowing he would beat himself up over this if you didn't stop him. "Can we just say you won the fight and move on? He asked, making you grin as you wrapped your arms around his middle. "Sure."
Yoongi: It was a tiny movement, so small it would've easily been missed, had he not been looking at you when he slammed his hand down on the table in frustration, causing you to wince. Instantly, he felt every ounce of anger drain away, replaced with hollow shame. "Are you okay?" He asked quietly after a long pause, not meeting your eye. You nodded. "You just startled me." He pinched the bridge of his nose, trying to calm his own nerves. "Can we not do this? I don't wanna fight, not like this." "Me neither." You agreed. You settled on just spending the evening together quietly, eventually talking through the original issue much more calmly.
Hobi: As loud as Hobi might be, he almost never raises his voice with you, which why it caught you so off guard and made you flinch. It was a purely instinctual response, but for Hobi, it made his heart absolutely shatter, eyes immediately glazing over with tears. He was supposed to be you safe place, your protector, how could he make you feel unsafe? As if you could read his mind, you were quick to try and reassure him. "Hobi, it's okay." "No, It's not, I shouldn't have spoken to you like that. I'm so sorry." You end up sitting together, comforting each other for a while.
Namjoon: He didn't even realize just how tightly wound you had both become during the argument until he slammed a cabinet door, making you jump. Glancing up to see you, clearly startled, his stubborn pride evaporated. "Lets not talk it about it anymore right now, we're not gonna solve anything while we're upset, okay?" He asked, keeping his tone soft in an attempt to soothe you. "Okay." You nodded. "Can I hug you?" He asked. Again, you nodded, letting him carefully tuck you into his chest. "I'm so sorry."
Jimin: He knows he can be intimidating when he's angry, but he never thought you would view him like that, until he saw you flinch back into the sofa cushions. His eyes got so big, before sinking down next to you on the couch. "Did... did I scare you?" He asked, barely able to speak above a whisper. "I don't know." You said, which he knew was your go-to response when you wanted to avoid the truth. Biting back a wave of emotion, he spoke, trying to keep his voice calm. "I'm sorry. I shouldn't have lost my temper." "It's okay." You said. It wasn't, not to him, but he didn't want to push you further right now. Right now, he just wanted to make you feel better.
Taehyung: When he whipped around to face you, only to see you instinctively shrink back, he froze, hands falling ground his sides. "Babe." He said, voice small, wobbly. "I wouldn't... you know I wouldn't, right?" "I know, it was just a reflex." You said even more quietly, fiddling with your fingers which he knew was a sign of how stressed you actually were. Not knowing what else to do, he pulled you into a tight hug. "Please know that you're always safe with me."
Jungkook: He knew you hated loud noises, but in the heat of the moment, he couldn't help the the raise in his voice. As soon as he saw the tears in your eyes though, he panicked. "I'm sorry!" He apologized profusely, rushing over to hold you, maybe a little faster than he should've, but he couldn't help it, he couldn't stand the thought that he'd made you so upset. "Please don't yell." You sniffled. "I won't, I swear, I won't. I'm so sorry baby." Clings to you for the rest of the evening.

Humans will trade their souls for anything, unaware of how their selfish desires will fade away as they do; growing feeble and pathetic, until there's nothing left but the ghost of their youth, cowering in a corner until old age disposes of it.  Convincing yourself to go to the Underworld? Easy... Walking through to get something that you've waited many years for, accompanied by a demon that will stop at nothing to make sure your soul belongs to him? Maybe not so much. Sooah checks her phone as she steps out of the building, squinting slightly at the sunlight. The battery is depleting fast; she hopes it’ll last until she gets home. She considers plugging it into her scooter, when she remembers. Whipping around to run back into the building, she halts in her tracks when she spots her target jogging out of the building in Sooah’s direction.
“Hey!” The younger girl - for she has to be younger; no one her age still has bag tags with fur on them - waves and stops in front of her, panting slightly. “Sooah, right? You forgot this.” In her hand is Sooah’s power bank, slightly frayed on the edges but still sturdy and reliable, her name written in the corner in silver ink.
“Right, thanks.” Glad she doesn’t have to go all the way back inside, Sooah tucks her yoga mat under her arm and smiles. “Your phone good and charged?”
“Yes, thank God. You’re a lifesaver,” adds the other girl, rolling her eyes dramatically. “I wouldn’t have been able to concentrate on the class at all if my phone had died.”
“You concentrated alright, from what I could see,” remarks Sooah. “That was a hell of a backbend.”
Her smile brightens and she looks almost shy, as though she isn’t used to getting compliments. “Thanks.” She tilts her head up towards the sun, her long hair shining in the brightness. “Any plans for the weekend?”
Don’t start. “I did have plans but then my boyfriend got called into work which is where he’s going to be all weekend.” She shakes her head, trying not to sound too disgruntled. “Unless something goes really right and he gets a couple hours off tonight, I’m probably going to sit around with no one but myself for company the entire time.”
The girl winces, and Sooah gets the impression that she truly understands. “Well, I mean, if you’re not doing anything…” she begins, shrugging, “my roommate and I are having a party tonight. If you want to come?”
Sooah squints and frowns, somewhat amused that this girl doesn’t seem to realise she’s invited a total stranger to a party at her house. She asks the first question that pops into her mind. “You, uh… where do you live?”
“Hongdae,” she supplies. “There’s going to be drinks and music and dancing… I mean, only if that’s, like, your thing,” she clarifies suddenly. “Totally cool if it isn’t.”
“No, it’s… it’s definitely my thing,” murmurs Sooah honestly, realising she’s actually considering it. “I - will your roommate be okay with you inviting someone she doesn’t know? Or he?”
“Oh, no, Sungmi is cool. We both have free reign to invite whomever we like.” She leans in a bit then, lowering her voice. “To be honest, I won’t know a lot of people there,” she confesses, looking a bit sheepish. “So I just thought a familiar face would be nice. But, no pressure. Obviously.”
“Of course.” Sooah nods. “I’ll let you know if I can.”
“Sure.” She smiles again. “I’ll give you my number; you can text me in case you decide to come.”
“Cool.” Sooah dictates her number as the girl saves it. A moment later, she hears a ping from her own phone. “Got it.” As the girl waves and starts to leave, Sooah suddenly remembers. “Hey, uh… what’s your name, by the way?”
She looks confused for a second before her eyes go wide. “Oh, God, I’m such a ditz. I’m Chaeyoung,” she says, skipping back over and sticking out her hand for Sooah to shake. “Hope to see you tonight, unnie.”
The sun is just setting beyond the horizon when Jimin exits the elevator of the Big Hit building into the basement, with a spirited young idol who’s apparently just made his debut.
“... saw you in Wembley, too,” he gushes, in step with Jimin. His youthful face is full of energy and wonder, and his smile is the exact kind that Big Hit looks for to plaster on billboards everywhere. “My group was in the audience - we couldn’t believe it. The stage was just on fire.”
Jimin grins, a mixture of gratitude and pride. Next to him, Hoseok cracks a bashful smile. “Oh, come on. We all saw your debut. You guys are fantastic - you’ll be at Wembley in no time.”
The younger idol - Alex (“half British, half Korean”) - almost chokes. Even taller than both of them, certainly Namjoon’s height, he looks almost deferential. “We’re just learning from you, hyung,” he says humbly. “Even the hours in the studio are crazy - but it’s worth it.”
“Make good use of the free time you have then.” In a sweet yet clear way that they must now part, Hoseok pats him on the back and waves. “Have a good evening, Alex.” He and Jimin walk towards their car as Alex goes in the other direction, his shoulders clearly reflecting the tiredness Jimin remembers from his own debut days.
“Shit, I feel for them,” he muses, watching him until he disappears behind a pillar before turning to Hoseok. “Remember when Jungkook tried to sneak us that half bucket of fried chicken and got caught?”
“And put the blame on Taehyung?” Hoseok chuckles at the memory while Jimin laughs. “Man, we really had to beat some sense into that kid.”
“Still a work in progress,” remarks Jimin as he climbs into the shotgun seat of the car. While Hoseok adjusts the rearview mirror and straps himself in, Jimin checks his hair and smirks at his reflection. “The blond really suits me, doesn’t it?”
“I can’t believe we have to go to this,” grumbles Hoseok, sighing and reversing out of the parking spot. “Such a bad idea.”
Jimin deflates, realising that this tirade of it’s such a bad idea that had been a constant during their recording session just now, was only going to continue throughout this car ride. “Hyung, I’ll say it again. We don’t have to go.”
“Yes, we do,” mutters Hoseok, driving out of the private exit at the back of the building. “Chaeyoung invited me - because I invited her to my house. If I snub her invitation, she’ll probably go running to her brother or something.”
Jimin squints skeptically. “Really? She’ll go running to her brother if you don’t attend a house party thrown by her roommate?”
“You don’t know her like I do, Jimin.”
He rolls his eyes at Hoseok’s serious tone, unable to understand what it is about that girl Chaeyoung that riles him up. “Fine. Can we listen to music?”
“Knock yourself out.”
Jimin connects his phone to the stereo and puts it on shuffle, easily bopping to the music while Hoseok drives with a scowl on his face. Finally, he speaks again. “Hyung? Seriously, what’s wrong?”
For a moment, Jimin thinks he isn’t going to answer, but then Hoseok sighs. “Nothing.” His fingers tighten on the steering wheel. “I just don’t know how to be around her. She’s different and grown up and… we were never really friends.” He shrugs uneasily. “It’s just weird.”
Jimin nods, not quite understanding the extremity of his friend’s reaction. Still, he tries to be supportive. “Well,” he begins, shifting lower in his seat, “speaking as a person who just met her, she’s pretty nice. Fun. You’ve met her a couple times, too, haven’t you?”
“Yeah, at that shoot for Vogue - but she was only filling in for someone,” says Hoseok. “We didn’t really get an opportunity to say anything to each other except a hi.”
“It’s a good start.”
Hoseok cracks a smile. “Thanks for coming with me, though. I know I probably hijacked your Saturday night.”
“Nah, not really. I didn’t have plans.”
“And now your plans involve hanging with Chaeyoung all night.”
“I don’t mind. She’s cute.” When Jimin gets no response, he looks up and does a double take when he sees Hoseok staring at him. “What?”
“She’s cute?”
Jimin rolls his eyes. “Come on, hyung, don’t be weird about this,” he says dismissively. “She is cute. Jungkook thinks so, too,” he adds casually.
“Do I need to put a leash on you two or something?”
He snickers. “Kinky. Do you think Chaeyoung would -”
“I will drive us into a tree,” warns Hoseok, “and I won’t regret it.”
“No, you won’t,” he retorts, unimpressed. “This is Suga hyung’s car. And I was going to say: do you think Chaeyoung would mind that you brought me along?” Jimin clicks his tongue. “You’re being really high-strung about this. Do you have a crush on her or something?”
“Ugh. Let me know if you see a tree, yeah?” When all Jimin does is hum in response, Hoseok sighs. “I don’t think she’ll mind. She said herself that she won’t know a lot of people there, so she’ll probably be glad to see a familiar face.”
“You’ll be one of those familiar faces, too,” points out Jimin. “That’s probably why she invited you.”
“I guess.” Hoseok is quiet for a minute. “I know she’s not going to complain to her brother. It’s just easier to think that because I don’t know what she’ll do otherwise.”
“Here’s an idea: get to know her.”
Hoseok makes a choking sound. “Let’s not get carried away here. We’re not friends.”
Jimin is about to point out that they can be, but for some reason he feels as though the suggestion would be lost on his friend. He therefore leaves Hoseok to his pensive thoughts and stretches in his seat, feeling like he’d rather enjoy this impromptu weekend plan than sit around and decipher his friend’s many sounds and sighs every time Chaeyoung is brought up. In fact, if he’s learnt anything since he was a wee rookie, like that Alex they just met, it’s that free time cannot be treated callously.
With that thought, they reach Chaeyoung’s apartment twenty minutes later. The sun has now fully set and the buzz of a Saturday night is all around Hongdae. Hoseok parks a couple of buildings away and both of them keep their heads low as they pass the crowd, smoothly making it unseen.
“Jesus,” breathes Hoseok, when they step into the building. His tone betrays nothing except that of something unexpected, and Jimin can’t help but agree. Chaeyoung’s apartment is meant to be on the second floor, but it’s no matter since the entire building seems to be in party mode. It looks like how college dorms are portrayed in movies, with young adults bustling around in various styles of clothing, a thin haze of smoke permeating every corner, and thumping music that seems to be playing through the walls.
“Are you sure she lives here?” Jimin asks as they gingerly step in. He dodges a couple sharing a cigarette and grinding to the music at the same time. “Maybe you should call her.”
“No, this is it,” replies Hoseok grimly, snaking his way around a bunch of guys chugging huge mugs of beer. “Come on, I can’t wait to see how this generation parties.”
As it turns out, the aforementioned generation parties alright. The door to Chaeyoung’s apartment, while open, is still on a floor that’s less crowded. There isn’t as much smoke and most of the partying seems to be happening indoors.
Hoseok and Jimin pause at the door, peering in hesitantly. Jimin, at least, recognises no one - although he sees a couple of people do a double take at the sight of him. He smiles back charmingly while next to him, Hoseok gets on the tips of his toes, as though hoping to spot Chaeyoung in the middle of the party.
“Let’s just go inside,” suggests Jimin, and pulls Hoseok with him by the arm. The apartment is small but lively, seemingly held together at the seams, but has the unmistakable air of cool. Jimin can tell, especially when they walk further into the apartment and he catches a glimpse of someone familiar.
“What the -”
But she’s disappeared. Jimin frowns, knowing it’s too much of a coincidence for Sooah to be at this party, this awfully random party, but also knowing that he’d recognise her face anywhere. “Hey, hyung, did you just see -”
“Chae!” Hoseok’s voice is filled with a mixture of exasperation and relief, and Jimin turns to see Chaeyoung making her way through the crowd towards them, a glass of dark liquid in her hand.
“Hey, you came!” She sounds bright and cheerful, not to mention rather relieved as well. “And you brought Jimin! Hey,” she adds with a light laugh, reaching up to give him a one-armed hug. Jimin raises his eyebrows at Hoseok’s stony face over her shoulder and stifles a laugh.
“Wouldn’t miss it,” he says cheerfully, straightening his jacket and running a hand through his hair, trying not to make it too obvious that he’s still searching for the face he knows he saw. He forces himself to look at Chaeyoung. “Nice party.”
“My roommate’s party,” she corrects, shrugging and looking around. “I unfortunately don’t have friends cool enough to smoke out of rolled up bills and still be doing body shots in this day and age.” She chuckles, but doesn’t sound judgmental. “It’s fun, though. You look great,” she adds, fingering the lapel of his jacket.
“Hey, thanks. You, too.”
“Thanks,” she replies sheepishly, sounding slightly self-conscious. “You look good, too, oppa,” she says after a moment, turning to Hoseok.
Hoseok, who’d been watching this exchange with no signs of amusement, takes a moment to realise he’s being spoken to. “Oh, uh - thank you. So do you,” he says a moment later, glancing and immediately averting his eyes from her bare legs under the short skirt she’s wearing.
Chaeyoung seems satisfied with this level of small talk. “You guys should meet Sungmi - she should be here somewhere…” She trails off, peering at the crowd.
“And Sungmi is… your senior?”
“Yeah, from college. Her boyfriend is here, too,” she adds, turning back around and taking a sip of her drink. “He’s pretty cool. Kind of quiet. But his tattoos are rad.”
Hoseok raises his eyebrows while Jimin makes a noise of appreciation, still subtly searching the crowd for her. “What, uh, what kind of tattoos?” asks the former.
“Nothing much. A tattoo sleeve on his arm, a bunch of stuff on his back,” she supplies, her head bopping subtly to the music. “The usual. His cousin’s are even cooler.”
“His -”
“Yeah, they hang out here a lot. Oh, there he is!” She points to the far end of the living room where a guy in his late twenties emerges out of a hallway, a tall girl swaying to the music beside him. His hair is a frozen blue, and Chaeyoung seems to have missed his most important tattoo - the one on his face. “That’s Ice, and Sungmi with him.”
Even Jimin lets out a low whistle, glancing over at Hoseok who looks scandalised. Neither of them bother to ask if his name really is Ice.
“How, uh -” Hoseok swallows. “And, uh, where - where did she meet this gentleman?”
“A concert.”
“Yeah? What was he doing at the concert?”
Chaeyoung gives him a look. “I don’t know. What do you do at a concert?”
Jimin snickers while Hoseok narrows his eyes. “I perform. What does Ice do?”
“Oh. Duh.” She lets out a light laugh. “He was just in the crowd. She met him while he was filming the mosh pit.”
Hoseok chokes just as the most familiar face comes back into view for Jimin - and this time, she spots him, too. “Of course,” he whispers, his heart already racing as her eyes light up with recognition.
Next to him, his friend seems to spot her, too. “Hey, is that Sooah?”
Chaeyoung frowns in surprise and turns around as Sooah makes her way over to them. In a shimmery top and black jeans, she looks, once again, like she just heard about this party and turned up to it, dressed to perfection for the occasion.
“Guys, hi!” She sounds more relieved than any of them at the sight of familiar people and immediately reaches up to give Jimin a hug before moving to Hoseok. “I had no idea you’d be here,” she adds, sounding slightly breathless and turning to Chaeyoung.
“Yeah, same here -” Jimin starts to say, but Chaeyoung beats him to it.
“Wait,” she says, pointing to Sooah and Jimin, “how do you two know each other?”
“Oh, we’re -” She catches Jimin’s eye and gives him a small smile. “We’re old friends.” She looks at Hoseok. “How do you guys know each other?”
“Same,” replies Hoseok, gesturing to Chaeyoung. “We’re old… neighbours.”
Chaeyoung wrinkles her nose. “Smooth.”
Hoseok makes a face while Jimin swallows, feeling the familiar rush of excitement and anticipation at seeing his ex-girlfriend. “I didn’t expect to see you here,” he says.
“I didn’t either,” she agrees, taking a sip of her drink - a whiskey, from the looks of it - and nodding. “It was shaping up to be a pretty shit weekend in all, but then someone -” She throws a friendly arm around Chaeyoung’s shoulders and squeezes it “- invited a practical stranger to a party at her house.”
Chaeyoung chuckles, a faint blush spreading to her cheeks. “You’re not a stranger. Today was our fifth class together,” she points out. “But I’m glad you know these guys,” she adds, pointing at Jimin and Hoseok. “I was feeling a bit guilty, thinking you’d only have me and your boyfriend for company.”
Jimin’s mind does a double take but he can’t immediately pinpoint why. When he notices Sooah’s gaze flicker to him, he remembers.
I was a bit nervous to tell you that I’m seeing someone, if I’m being honest.
He’d balked at the word “seeing” but thankfully, Chaeyoung’s remark answers a question he didn’t think he’d be able to bring himself to ask - at least, not without letting Sooah think he really cared.
“You guys should meet him, too,” she says lightly after a moment. “He’s really great.”
“Of course,” he says, glad to hear his voice sounds normal, for if he really thinks about it, he doesn’t mind.
As he thinks about it, he scans the crowd, automatically wondering which one of the guys in this room could be Sooah’s new boyfriend. There’s the one in the middle of a circle by the sofas with a charming smile and a girl on either side of him; if this were high school, this guy would be Jimin’s first guess. But if she doesn’t know anyone at this party then neither does her boyfriend, so Jimin moves on.
There’s another guy by the dining table where all the drinks are, wearing ripped jeans and a leather jacket - in the summer: also potentially Sooah’s type. Then there’s one by the balcony, not really standing outside but not standing inside either, smoking a cigarette while he stands alone. Not quite Sooah’s type of boyfriend, but definitely Sooah’s type of distraction.
Jimin’s brought out of his surveillance when Hoseok nudges him. “I’m going to get a drink,” he says, somewhat pointedly. “You want one, too?”
“Um…” He meets Sooah’s gaze, who gives him an innocent smile. Fighting one of his own, he shakes his head. “You go ahead. I’ll, uh… I’ll think about what I want.”
“Okay.” Hoseok shrugs and turns to Chaeyoung, his tone shifting. “Alright, what have you kids got to drink here?”
She clicks her tongue as they walk away. “Sungmi is, like, two years younger than you, oppa…”
Jimin watches them, fully aware of Sooah taking a couple forward until she’s right next to him. He catches a faint whiff of her perfume, something like roses and sugar.
“You look great,” she says, giving his frame a quick once-over.
He tries, for a moment, to think of something witty to say but gives up. “Thanks. You, too. But you know that,” he adds.
“I hoped.” She nudges his shoulder softly. “I’m really glad to see you.”
“You are?”
“Yeah. Why wouldn’t I be?” Sooah holds his gaze for a second before her shoulders fall slightly. “Come on, Chim. This isn’t going to be awkward, is it?”
Jimin flushes, suddenly feeling rather juvenile. “Of course not. It’s really good to see you, too, Sooah,” he says after a moment, realising he means it.
“Great.” Sooah nods in what he imagines is sympathy. “I would… really like for you to meet him.” There’s no need to specify who “him” is referring to. “If you’re okay with that.”
“Of course. Sooah, come on, I know we were… fooling around,” he says, and they share a sheepish smile, “but we haven’t dated in years.”
“Five years, to be exact,” she remembers softly.
He swallows. “Yeah. We’ve both dated since then. It’s not a big deal,” he adds, not fully sure if he even believes it himself.
Sooah watches him for a moment before nodding. “That’s true. I guess we’ve just never been friends while dating someone else. This would be the first time.”
“That’s a lot of pressure.”
She laughs and squeezes his shoulder. “I have faith in you, Chim.”
“And I have faith in you. Which is why I hope that I didn’t get replaced by a guy wearing metallic buckles in his jacket.”
She immediately turns in the direction he’s gesturing in, before snorting. “God, no. It would be so difficult to take off,” she adds cheekily.
“That’s what I thought.” He taps his temple dramatically. “The guy with the red hair, though -” He points at the makeshift bar, “he just drank the foam out of the mug while he poured his beer.” He lets out a low whistle. “Come on, that’s got to be impressive.”
“Everything a girl looks for in a guy,” she agrees dryly. “Any other guesses?”
Jimin grins, for this exercise feels like a crash course in Sooah’s romantic past - the one list Sooah has admitted in the past that was topped by him.
“Oh, I don’t know. How about that one over there? We all know how much you love facial piercings.”
“A real winner.”
“And he’s got one of those cool wrap-around earphones. Sooah, you may just have hit a jackpot with -” He breaks off when he sees Sooah’s gaze shift to something behind him.
“All worthy guesses, Chim,” she begins, clearly trying to suppress a smile, “but it’s time you met the real one.” She pats his shoulder and grins. “I’ll be right back, okay?”
Jimin takes a second to process this abrupt change in topic but turns to watch her wade through the crowd, only to reach -
“Fuck.”
The word falls out of his mouth before he can help it, and he hasn’t a clue what it means. All he knows is that when he sees Sooah reach up to hug debut rookie half-British-half-Korean Alex, he almost wonders for a moment if coincidences really do occur in the universe or if the universe just enjoys fucking with him.
As Sooah brings Alex over, Jimin is suddenly conscious of his hands. They hang by his side uselessly before he quickly stuffs them into the pockets of his jacket, just as Alex catches sight of him.
“Jimin sunbaenim!” Alex exclaims, loud enough that a couple of people even turn to look. “Sorry,” he mutters sheepishly. “I didn’t know you were going to be here, too! Sooah, do - do you know him?”
Sooah doesn’t speak for a moment. She looks up at him and nods before, with what looks like an enormous effort, she turns to Jimin. “Yeah, we know each other from school,” she says to Alex, while her gaze bores into Jimin’s, as though daring him to say something.
Jimin, for all his self-control, gives her a wide smile. “It’s true,” he agrees. “Sooah was the most popular girl in our class.”
“Really?” Alex grins down at her and they seem to share a momentary private joke. “Somehow, I can believe that.”
“And Jimin was the best dancer in our class,” she adds, nudging his arm. “And the best at math.”
“I can believe that, too. The dance part, not the math,” corrects Alex immediately. “I mean - I’m sure you were good at math, too, hyung.”
There’s a moment of awkward silence before Jimin chuckles. “It’s okay. You didn’t tell me this was your night off.”
“Big Hit must have gotten more lenient over time,” offers Sooah, giving him a knowing look.
Alex doesn’t catch on. “We’ve been rehearsing for three days straight so they gave us tonight to go home. But I haven’t seen Sooah in a while, so…” He shrugs and puts an arm around her shoulder. Jimin is surprised to see the smile that involuntarily appears on her face, when Alex continues. “You would know what that’s like, though, hyung.”
Jimin doesn’t say anything for a moment. “It’s the price of debuting,” he says finally, slowly looking over at Sooah, whose smile fades slightly.
“Seems like it’s worth it.” Before Jimin can process why this response stings something ancient in his heart, she turns to Alex. “Let’s get you a drink?”
“Oh…” He winces apologetically. “Sorry, noona, I can’t drink tonight. We have that shoot tomorrow…”
“Oh, yeah, I almost forgot.” She bites her lip before linking her arm with his. “Alright. Why don’t you come with me while I get a drink? You should say hi to Chaeyoung, too.”
“Yeah, of course. I’ll see you around, sunbaenim,” he says to Jimin, eyes shining, before he and Sooah leave for the drinks’ table.
Years and years ago, when Jimin had first accompanied Sooah to one of their high school parties, he had wondered for the umpteenth time whether they even made sense together. When they were alone, they did. They laughed, bickered, kissed in empty classrooms and texted all night underneath the covers. Beautiful, popular Kim Sooah was goofy and silly and funny and adorable, and Jimin felt like he’d won the lottery at sixteen.
But out in public, Kim Sooah was Kim Sooah, and Jimin was the boyfriend that everyone subconsciously frowned at momentarily before smiling and introducing themselves. Sooah hadn’t left his side, though, not even when her friends had called her over, not when the drinking games had commenced. She’d given him his first drink - a vodka - a little hesitantly.
“This doesn’t make me a bad influence, does it?”
She’d bit her lip, red and plump, as she tugged her tube top up her chest. Jimin, who’d been fairly curious about alcohol anyway, had only one answer in mind.
“Of course not,” he’d said, smiling and taking the glass. “I need to fit in with your friends eventually, don’t I?”
“Don’t worry about them,” she’d said dismissively. “It doesn’t matter what they think. You don’t have to drink that if you don’t want, Jimin.”
He appreciated it, but Jimin knew he had a rare opportunity. Boys like him didn’t attract the attention of girls like Kim Sooah; if he had any hope of sustaining this, he needed to prove he could fit in with the cool kids.
Across the room, Sooah mixes herself a gin cocktail, hands moving with ease. Next to her, Alex reads the label of a soju bottle before muttering something to her that makes her laugh and nod.
“Wow, you’re Jimin, right? From BTS?”
Startled, Jimin turns to see a girl about his height, her face flushed as she takes in his appearance.
“Um -” He clears his throat. “That’s right.”
“Wow, I can’t believe it,” she breathes. Behind her, a couple of more people spot him, their eyes going wide. “Can I take a selfie with you?”
“Uh, sure.” Before he knows it, she’s leaned over to him and raised her phone, clicking a series of pictures in succession in which she’s pouting and he’s just about registering what’s happening.
“Thank you,” she gushes, reaching over and giving him a half-hug that he returns hesitantly. “Find me later,” she says in a low voice before stepping away. “If you’re still here.”
It takes Jimin a moment to gather his bearings, even as a lightness spreads through his insides. Suddenly confident, he struts over to where Sooah is standing next to the mantle, this time by herself.
“So,” he begins, leaning against the wall next to her as she scrolls through her phone, drink in her other hand. “Where’s my biggest fan?”
Sooah doesn’t even look up. “Probably in a dark room somewhere, stalking your flight schedule?”
“Not him,” says Jimin, unfazed. “My other biggest fan.” He leans closer to her, his bangs brushing hers. “Noona.”
“Don’t start, Jimin.”
He laughs. “What? I thought you hated being called noona.”
“I don’t hate it.”
“Really? You threw a piece of chalk at Taehyung’s head when he called you that once.”
“That’s because he was fucking with me,” she clarifies, finally looking up at him and holding up a finger. “Secondly, it’s a little hard to get annoyed by it as you get older. There’s too many people calling you that all of a sudden.”
“Including your boyfriend. Where is he, by the way?” Jimin asks, scanning the crowd briefly.
“He ran into someone he knew.” Sooah turns to face him, leaning sideways against the wall. “Jimin.”
“Sooah.” He grins down at her, his gaze involuntarily flickering to her red lips. “Did he mention that I ran into him at Big Hit?”
“No. Was he supposed to?”
“Fans do that sometimes. How have we never been introduced before? I mean, we seem to have a lot in common.”
Sooah scoffs. “This might surprise you, but you are not first in line of the people I want to introduce my boyfriend to. But wait a second,” she adds, straightening up slightly, “weren’t you dating a girl, too? When do I get to meet her?” She looks around, as though hoping to spot her. “You didn’t bring her?”
Jimin frowns and it takes him a second to place the name. Ahnjong. The name, still one of the sweetest he’s ever heard, swims through his mind, as does the disastrous ending to their date two months ago.
“Yeah, that…” He rubs the back of his neck. “We, uh… we decided to see other people.”
“Really?”
“Yeah. Not like, say, your boyfriend.”
“Jimin,” she repeats.
“Sooah.”
She sighs. “God, you’re cocky.”
Jimin chuckles as she rolls her eyes. “Hey, I love my fans, alright? They are what keep me going, Sooah. You should be more respectful of that.”
“Shut up.”
“What? You used to be one of them,” he reminds her.
“Yeah, and now I’m dating one of them.” She holds his gaze. “He’s my boyfriend, Jimin.”
“He’s a rookie.”
Sooah raises an eyebrow. “And?”
Whatever Jimin had been about to say goes straight out the window in an instant. “And…” He pauses, desperate suddenly to change tacks “… where does he find the time to date?”
She shrugs. “I don’t know. Where did you find the time to date?”
“I didn’t,” he points out forcefully. “That was the problem, apparently.”
“That was not the -“ Sooah breaks off abruptly, exhaling. “No. No,” she mutters, shaking her head before looking up at Jimin. “You really want to do this now?”
“You’re the one who brought it up,” he shoots back, even as his heart races. All it takes is a momentary lapse of emotion for them to fall back into the darkest pits of their history, and Jimin isn’t sure she wants that. Not with her new boyfriend in the vicinity.
Sooah sighs and looks away uncomfortably. “Look, aside from the girl that I met at yoga class today for the first time, I don’t know a single person here. Except for you.” She tilts her head and frowns slightly. “Can we please not do this now?”
A vision of teenage Kim Sooah, soft cheeks and sparkling eyes, whining cutely at him for the first time clouds Jimin’s mind. Even sweaty after volleyball practice with her hair unbrushed and tumbling down her shoulders, she was irresistible.
“You know Hoseok hyung,” he points out after a moment, mimicking her position.
She shakes her head. “Doesn’t count. He’s busy. In fact,” she continues, just as Jimin opens his mouth “word on the street is, he’s been prowling around the apartment and was last seen in the kitchen, taking pictures.”
He frowns. “What? Like, selfies?”
“No, pictures of the kitchen.” Sooah drops her hands from her hips to her sides. “I mean, I’m sorry to tell you this, Jimin, but your friend might be a crazy person.”
None of this makes a jot of sense to Jimin. He stares at her before clearing his throat. “Okay, we’ll - we’ll circle back to that,” he says quickly, pinching the bridge of his nose. “So… what? We’re going to play drinking games until your boyfriend joins us?”
“Yes,” she answers, looking relieved. “That’s exactly what we’re going to do.”
“Fine. Twenty questions.” He smirks.
Sooah rolls her eyes. “Oh, God. Okay, twenty questions. But I’m warning you, you may not actually want the answers to some of your questions.” Her gaze darts to something over his shoulder and Jimin turns to see Alex wave back as he talks to a girl. “Do you mind if he joins us?”
Do I ever. “Hey,” he says, shoving his hands into his pockets, “I am all for hanging out with -“
“Do not say my biggest fans.”
Jimin scoffs. “I was going to say… I’m all for hanging out with my ex-girlfriend’s… new boyfriend.”
Sooah gives him a look before chuckling. “You are so transparent, Chim.”
Jimin laughs. “What? You can invite him if you want.”
“Nobody should play drinking games with you,” she states, poking him in the chest. “Not without supervision.”
He nudges her shoulder playfully with his. “You’re supervising me, aren’t you?”
“And we both know I’m a really good influence.” She taps his shoulder and grabs his arm, steering him to the drinks table. “Go on, choose your poison. Oh, wait, I know your poison,” she chuckles, grabbing the vodka and cranberry juice.
Jimin snickers as she makes him his drink, taking sips of her own from next to her. When she hands him the pink cocktail, smelling like just the right combination of sweetness and youth, he suddenly feels as though the entire night was leading to this: a wild Saturday night with Kim Sooah.
“Cheers.” She clinks his glass with his and watches as he takes the first sip, grinning when he dramatically smacks his lips.
“You can become a great bartender,” he tells her genuinely, his face already feeling warm from the vodka. “If this entire event planning thing doesn’t work.”
“It’s worked out well so far,” she says serenely. “I get to meet a lot of pretty cool people that way.”
Jimin bites his lip, remembering the last time he’d attended an event she was working at. He wonders if she’s truly being so bold as to bring that up, when he remembers that a work event is also where she’d met Alex. His drink seems less pink all of a sudden.
Sooah doesn’t seem to notice. “Okay, I’m going to go rescue Alex now,” she says. “I’ll be right back.”
“For twenty questions?”
“Or something.” She rolls her eyes but smiles, already taking a step in Alex’s direction. “Don’t make me regret this, Chim.”
Jimin simply raises his glass in response as he watches her go. Across the room, Alex doesn’t seem at all like he needs rescuing; his smile is the smile, the media smile that’s drilled into every trainee as he nods at the girls speaking to him.
It’s not quite Sooah’s move, he reflects. Jealousy had never been part of the many issues they had dealt with, which made sense given that there had never been another person that had entered their relationship. Just the two of them had been enough for it to implode each time.
As she reaches Alex and joins the conversation with ease, however, it occurs to Jimin that his data points are limited to their relationship only - and just because she wasn’t jealous with him, doesn’t mean she doesn’t get jealous at all.
The realisation confuses him to no end, as does the annoyance that comes with it. He gives her a proper once-over; she’s as gorgeous and sexy as ever, still somehow the life of the party despite not knowing anyone, but the attraction ends there. There’s too much baggage that prevents him from going further and the fact that one of them is in a relationship can finally signal the end of their ambiguous connection.
Sooah leans into Alex’s side then and he puts his arm around her shoulder. Jimin rolls his eyes, deciding he can’t watch this anymore; just because they’ve moved on doesn’t mean he needs a front row seat for their honeymoon period. He turns around and heads into the kitchen, only to be met by Hoseok with his phone pointed at nothing in particular.
“Uh, hyung?” Jimin steps in gingerly. “What are you -”
“Look at this,” interrupts Hoseok, not taking his eyes off the screen until he clicks a picture. He points to something in one of the lower cabinets and Jimin peers over his shoulder to check it out. “Look at how close the gas line is to that plug point.”
“The -”
“What if it sparks?” Hoseok shakes his head, eyes wide and manic. “The entire apartment could catch fire!”
“That’s a bit unlikely,” points out Jimin hesitantly. “And… why are you taking a picture of it?”
“I’m sending it to her brother,” he mutters, going back to examining the offending gas line. “God, this is so typical of Chaeyoung. So irresponsible.”
“So your solution is to tattle on her?”
“Well, she’s not going to listen to me.” Hoseok scoffs, turning and pointing to one of the upper cabinets. “Look here. Do you see that?” he asks, tapping a splintered piece of wood jutting out at his eye level. “I almost knocked my head on it.”
Jimin raises his eyebrows. “Well… she’s about six inches shorter than you so it’s probably not as much a problem for her?”
“Irrelevant,” he dismisses immediately. “Anyone could get hurt. Look, I don’t like having to take such drastic measures, alright?” he continues. “But believe me, she is going to resist every single suggestion that either of us -“
At that moment, a shorter figure comes barrelling into the kitchen, leaving a faint flowery scent in her wake.
“Oh, God, it’s true,” she exclaims with dread. Reaching forward and snatching Hoseok’s camera, she gasps as she sees the picture on it. “Jesus Christ, oppa, why do you have to be such a freak?”
“I’m the freak? Look at your gas line!”
“There is nothing wrong with -”
“Chae - do you have any idea how dangerous it is to have it so exposed that it’s -”
“It doesn’t even matter! It’s not my apartment,” she reminds him, throwing her hands in the air in frustration. “It’s Sungmi’s, and I can’t go around changing things without discussing them with her.”
Hoseok glares at her before exhaling through his nose, apparently trying to calm himself. “What about this?” he demands, pointing at the broken cabinet.
Chaeyoung raises her eyebrows “What about it?”
“Do you need her permission to get things fixed, too?”
“Um, kind of, yeah,” she answers, looking a bit incredulous now. “I can’t afford to get things fixed by myself in any case. And besides,” she continues, reaching up and tapping the piece of wood, “neither Sungmi or I can even reach this.”
“I’m sure Chan will be more than happy to help you out.”
Even Jimin, who hasn’t known Chaeyoung very long at all, knows from the way her eyes widen that this was the wrong thing to say.
“Oh, of course you think Chan needs to come to my rescue!” She scoffs and places her drink on the counter with a loud thud. “You really don’t think I can make it a second without my perfect brother, do you?”
“That’s not what I meant! I just - okay, I’ll pay for it,” he backtracks hastily. “I don’t mind, really, just as long as you -”
“Seriously? I don’t even know when I’ll be able to pay you back.”
“You don’t have to -”
But Chaeyoung cuts him off. “And you’re overreacting, oppa,” she informs him, folding her arms across her chest. “The only person who can even reach this is Ice, and he’s never brought it up in all the -”
“Ice? How often is he over here?” He whips around to look at Jimin, as though expecting him to have the answer. Before Jimin can stutter out a response, however, someone else joins them in the kitchen.
“Hey,” a voice drawls, sounding like it’s coming from miles away. Everyone turns to see the aforementioned Ice, blue-grey hair, facial tattoo and crooked smile on full display. In one hand is a glass of whiskey and in the other, a joint between his fingers. “Thought I heard someone say my name.”
“Oh… hey, Ice,” says Chaeyoung, taking a step back.
“Hey, hey,” he replies, swaggering into the kitchen with that distinct aura of speaking from far away. “Everyone having fun?” he asks, reaching down to hug Chaeyoung without warning, who simply pats his shoulder as he steps away.
Ice doesn’t seem to realise, drifting sideways to hug Jimin next. “It’s a party, yo,” he informs them, raising his joint. “Come on in, man,” he says to Hoseok, apparently waiting for a hug. When he doesn’t move, Jimin suppresses a snort, immediately burying his face into his glass.
Ice frowns, looking mildly confused. “No?” He places a hand on Hoseok’s shoulder. “I like this one,” he says to no one in particular.
Hoseok, clearly speechless, simply stares at Ice’s hand before looking back at him, and then at Chaeyoung as if to say Really?
Even Chaeyoung shrugs, looking somewhat embarrassed until a few more people enter the kitchen and Ice is successfully distracted.
Jimin, who had been greatly enjoying the episode between Hoseok and this girl from his past who irritated the life out of him, takes this opportunity to intervene.
“Alright, who needs another drink?” he asks in a low voice so only the two of them can hear.
Chaeyoung turns to him as though just realising he’s there. “Jimin,” she states, “will you please tell Hoseok that he’s being insane?”
“Oh, grow up, will you?” Hoseok snaps back.
“You grow up -“
“Okayyy, tensions are high,” interrupts Jimin soothingly, “because everybody’s too sober.” He turns Chaeyoung around by the shoulders and steers her out of the kitchen. Hoseok follows without a word, rolling his eyes.
They reach the drinks table again where Sooah seems to have successfully rescued her boyfriend.
“Sooah!” Jimin points at Chaeyoung and Hoseok frantically. “We have a sobriety emergency for you.”
“On it,” she replies, without missing a beat. “Cosmo for you and… Hoseok? For you?”
“I’m driving,” he answers sullenly.
“We’ll get Suga hyung to pick us up,” interjects Jimin hastily. “He’ll have tequila,” he tells Sooah.
“Perfect.” She bustles around the tables, gathering her paraphernalia and mixing a row of drinks with precision. Jimin watches with admiration, amusement and a bit of nostalgia while stealing glances at Hoseok and Chaeyoung beside him, both of whom glare in opposite directions.
“Alright, drink up, everyone.” Sooah passes a drink each to Hoseok and Chaeyoung, followed by one for Jimin. “You need to freshen yours up, too,” she adds with a smirk.
He holds up his half-finished drink. “But I’m not -” He breaks off when Sooah clinks her own half-empty glass with his. “Right.”
“Bottoms up, Chim.”
Both of them guzzle down their drinks in one go before emerging, warm and flushed. Jimin’s face feels like it’s on fire and his throat burns. But when he spots Sooah shaking out her hair and reaching enthusiastically for her fresh drink, he rallies.
“Cheers, guys,” he says, turning so that Hoseok and Chaeyoung can clink their glasses, too, when he notices something amiss. “Alex,” he adds, raising his eyebrows. “No drink for you?”
Alex, standing a step behind Sooah and smiling as he watched them drink, looks surprised to be spoken to. “Oh, I - I have rehearsal tomorrow.”
“And?”
“And… well, I don’t – I don’t want to be hungover during it.” He chuckles sheepishly. “Yeonjun hyung will kill me.”
“One drink won’t get you hungover,” says Jimin dismissively, reaching for a can of beer on the table and tossing it to him, which he catches at the last moment.
“You don’t have to drink that, Alex.” Sooah cuts in. “Jimin.”
“What?” Jimin half-chuckles, but there’s suddenly far less humour in it. “He can’t be the only one not drinking. They’re called drinking games for a reason.”
“I don’t mind,” says Alex quickly. “It’s just one drink, noona. And… beer doesn’t have sugar,” he adds a bit uncertainly, glancing at the label.
“Exactly. And he’ll work off the carbs at practice tomorrow, anyway.” Jimin grins. “Been there, done that.”
Sooah fixes him with a steely look that he returns innocently, taking a sip of his vodka drink. Behind her, Alex’s face seems to crease at the mention of carbs.
“Just one,” he mutters to himself, before holding it a few inches away and cracking it open. A bit of foam overflows and drips on the floor, but he takes a big gulp anyway. “Good beer,” he says after a moment.
“We also have breezers -” Chaeyoung starts to say but Hoseok catches her eye and shakes his head an infinitesimal amount, causing her to fall silent.
“Alright, now that everyone has their drinks,” continues Jimin, deliberately not looking at Sooah, “we can begin. Twenty questions, you said?”
“You said. And drinking games are perfectly possible without alcohol,” adds Sooah, apparently not about to let this go. “Remember your first drinking game?”
Jimin’s smile fades a bit as flashes surface from the recesses of his memory: a crowded house, a glass of Coke - and laughter from his classmates. Sooah hadn’t rushed to his defense this quickly then.
“Yeah, I remember,” he replies after a moment. “Just making sure Alex doesn’t make the same mistake.”
“That’s not your call, though. He can decide what he wants to do.”
“Wow, did you hear that, oppa?” Chaeyoung pipes up. “Sound familiar?”
Hoseok scoffs. “Seriously? How is what I said similar to this?”
“It’s the way you said it, like you think I can’t do a single thing right.”
“That sounds familiar,” mutters Jimin into his drink, just loud enough for Sooah to hear.
“Oh, God, Jimin,” she snaps, rolling her eyes. “Now you’re just reaching. You can drink if you want, but you don’t get to tell others how to -”
“It’s a party! Let loose here because you can’t anywhere else - remember when you told me that?”
“I remember that that was in the context of you worrying about your math homework at a party, Jimin.”
Jimin gasps, his cheeks growing hot. “Never have I ever worried about my math -”
“Oh, are we playing Never Have I Ever?” A voice interrupts them, sounding incongruously excited. Everyone turns to see Sungmi and her boyfriend Ice in tow, holding a drink and a joint respectively. When no one responds, she frowns. “No? Damn, this party must be going worse than I thought.”
“We can play Never Have I Ever,” offers Chaeyoung, turning to the others. “I’ll go first. Never have I ever… poked my nose in someone else’s business,” she finishes, looking straight at Hoseok.
He gives her an unimpressed look and takes an exaggerated sip of his drink, wincing slightly. Meanwhile, everyone else in the circle takes a sip as well, some sheepish, some shameless and, in Jimin’s case, with a bit of guilt.
“Your turn, Jimin,” says Chaeyoung, sounding satisfied.
“Okay, um…” Jimin wracks his brain, the alcohol suddenly making his mind swim. “Never have I ever dated a carbon copy of my ex.”
He watches as all the expression leaves Sooah’s face, but he turns away, looking questioningly at everyone in the circle. Hoseok wrinkles his nose while Chaeyoung snorts and shakes her head. Sungmi tilts her head thoughtfully and takes a sip, however. Across the makeshift circle, Sooah deliberately places her glass on the table while, to Jimin’s surprise, Alex takes a small sip of his beer.
“Alright, your turn, hyung,” says Jimin after a moment.
Hoseok’s eyes widen as he scrambles for a question. “Um, never have I ever… been to a party where I don’t know a single person apart from the host?”
Every single person in the circle takes a drink, including Ice, who takes a sip of his girlfriend’s.
“That was a good one,” remarks Sungmi, smiling with humour. “Okay, I’m next - and we’re going to make this exciting now,” she adds, rubbing her hands dramatically. “Okay, never have I ever… had a sex dream about someone in this room.”
A sort of silence seems to spread through the circle. Swallowing, Jimin takes a hesitant sip of his drink, glancing as quickly as he can at Sooah. She takes a sip, too, her eyes on the contents of her glass the entire time. Apart from them, Alex takes a sheepish sip, and Sungmi and Ice both take turns as well. Jimin feels something move next to his elbow but ignores it, eager to move the game along.
“Babe, that was an easy one,” drawls Ice, winking at the circle. “We’re all people, we all love, we all dream,” he rambles, taking another long puff of his joint. “I’ve had dreams, too, you know? I’ve had dreams about my lovely lady here -” He pulls Sungmi to his side by the waist and kisses her neck “- I’ve had dreams about my tattoo artist, I’ve have had dreams of Sungmi and my tattoo artist, Sungmi and her roommate -”
“Wait, what did you say?” Hoseok begins sharply, but Chaeyoung immediately interrupts him.
“Okay, no, the game, the game! Uh, Ice - it’s your turn, I think,” she adds hastily, stepping closer to Jimin. But Ice waves a hand good-naturedly.
“Nah, I’m good, sweetheart. I live here, in the mind and the -”
“Okay, moving on,” interrupts Sungmi, and Jimin guesses her boyfriend has finally made her uncomfortable as well. “It’s, uh - your turn,” she says, pointing at Alex. “I’m sorry, I don’t know your name.”
“Oh, I’m -”
“This is Alex,” says Jimin brightly. “He’s Sooah’s boyfriend.” Sungmi’s blank expression tells Jimin a moment later that she obviously has no idea who Sooah is either, but she shrugs eventually.
“You go, Alex.”
“Um -” With his wide eyes, full and parted lips, and his hair falling effortlessly over his forehead, he looks like every label’s dream idol. Jimin taps his foot impatiently, an act that doesn’t go unnoticed by a few others.
“Okay, uh, never have I -”
“Make it a good one, Alex,” warns Sungmi.
“Ah, I’m sure he will, unnie,” snickers Chaeyoung, raising her glass encouragingly. “Come on, Alex, the pressure is on!”
“- ever - okay -”
“They’re just kidding, babe,” murmurs Sooah with a smile, squeezing his arm.
“Only a bit,” adds Jimin, winking and ignoring her frown.
“- lost my virginity to someone in this room!”
Everyone processes this before a few chuckles break out. “Alright, that was a good one,” allows Sungmi. “Not one I can drink to, unfortunately.”
“Yeah, we may have gone into historic territory here,” agrees Chaeyoung, “but you just made the game a lot more interesting. Cheers.”
No one seems to notice Jimin and Sooah lock gazes for a moment before quietly sipping their drinks. Memories that Jimin had always treasured threaten to resurface, but there is nothing he wants to be reminded of less at the moment.
“Your turn, Sooah.” Alex nudges her gently.
“Right.” She clears her throat and stares at the floor. “Never have I ever lied to someone while breaking up with them.”
Jimin scoffs audibly but it fortunately gets drowned in a sea of agreement, with almost everyone taking a sip of their drink. He doesn’t, however, shaking his head slightly at Sooah. A part of him is unsurprised; this had to happen eventually. There was seldom a time when he and Sooah got together and didn’t begin descending into their history - and it was never pretty.
“My turn, then,” chimes Chaeyoung. Her drink is almost over now and she stumbles slightly next to him. “Um… never have I ever been cheated on.”
Sungmi rolls her eyes and drinks, as does Hoseok. Across from the circle, Sooah lifts her drink to her mouth and pauses for a moment before drinking. Her eyes flicker to Jimin before looking away.
His heart thuds in his chest. Nothing would ever be good enough for Kim Sooah. Not two years of a relationship, not how much they meant to each other - none of it. All that would ever matter to her would be how they broke up - even if part of it wasn’t true.
“Jimin?”
He comes out of it, chewing the inside of his lip. “Never have I ever…” His eyes dart up to Alex, who seems to be realising that something is awry. “... dated another idol’s ex-girlfriend.”
No one drinks, predictably. Jimin ignores the “huh?”s and the joking groans, his gaze solely on Alex who, frowning at Jimin, slowly takes a sip of his drink. Next to him, Sooah closes her eyes.
Jimin waits to feel victorious, for it’s clear that Alex now knows about his and Sooah’s shared history. But a deep-seated bitterness creeps through instead. New boyfriend in, old boyfriend out.
“Okay… who’s next?”
“Oh, that’s me, I think,” says Hoseok distractedly, reaching out to steady Chaeyoung. “Um - I don’t know. Can I pass?”
“I’ll take your turn.” Sooah’s voice rings out, calm and sharp. She looks at Jimin through steely, heavy-lidded eyes; standing next to a tall and handsome boyfriend, Jimin can almost imagine this is high school once again - but in a parallel universe where she would ever look at him with anything but affection.
“Never have I ever caused a friend’s break-up.”
There are scoffs from around the circle, with Sungmi and Ice both taking a sip each. From next to him, Chaeyoung takes a sheepish sip as well, while Jimin glares at Sooah. The cranberry and vodka drink suddenly looks vile in his glass and he feels like he could throw up.
“Think I need some air,” he mutters, turning around and leaving the circle amidst the mild chatter. He places the glass on some surface on the way as he nudges his way through the crowd of drunken young adults. He just about exits the apartment when he realises he has no plan whatsoever of where to go, but he knows he can’t go back. So he carries on, reaching the end of the hallway where the warm summer breeze of the night gives him some respite from the haze of smoke at the party.
He hears footsteps behind him then, right on cue.
“Storming out, Jimin?” The footsteps stop abruptly. “Really?”
He doesn’t even turn around. “Don’t start, Sooah.”
“Jesus Christ. You have to grow out of this.”
“Grow out of this?” Jimin finally whips around, momentarily surprised to see her standing so close to him. Goosebumps have erupted on her bare shoulders but she doesn’t seem to have noticed.
“Yeah. It’s been long enough.” Sooah gives him a distinctly unimpressed look, as though this fight isn’t worth her time.
“You know what? Why don’t you just go back to your boyfriend?” Jimin says scathingly.
“I will, just as soon you stop - okay, no, you are not walking away from me right now.”
Jimin rounds on her the moment he hears footsteps behind him again. “You completely attacked me in there!” he blurts out accusingly.
“Because you attacked Alex!” Sooah sighs in frustration. “He’s my boyfriend, Jimin. You can’t go there - you know that.”
“You’ve known Alex for three months. And you’ve known me for six years, Sooah,” he reminds her, knowing deep down that it hardly matters. But the words spill out like they’ve been pressing up against his vocal chords, desperate to get out since the evening began.
She’s quiet for a moment, biting the inside of her cheek. “Yeah, well.” She gives him a look that’s part firm and part sympathetic. “Unfortunately, current boyfriend trumps ex-boyfriend. I’m sorry, that’s just the way it is.”
Jimin scoffs, ignoring his stomach sinking. “What happened to old friends?”
“You are an old friend, but you’re also my ex. And boyfriend trumps -”
“Yeah, I got it,” he interrupts her, rolling his eyes. “I thought it was all in good fun,” he says after a moment, looking away from her.
Even without looking, he can hear the skepticism in her voice. “Really?”
“Yes. I - I may have gone a bit overboard in the end,” he admits, swallowing as he remembers Alex’s confused face, the realisation dawning on him. “I just… didn’t expect to see you here tonight.” Definitely not with someone.
“Jimin, it’s been five years,” she reminds him in a low voice. “We’ve both dated other people since then; it can’t be a surprise that -”
“I don’t care that you’re dating him,” he interrupts her again, realising as he says it that it’s true. He doesn’t care, not really. Not like that, anyway. “You and I dated in high school. I never expected us to end up married or anything. Okay? We’ve all moved on.”
Sooah doesn’t say anything, just continues looking at him, a small frown on her face. She’s confused.
Jimin can relate. It’s immeasurably frustrating not being able to put his finger on the problem. “It’s just weird… seeing it up close,” he finishes lamely, knowing it’s the best he can come up with right now.
“Even now?”
“Yeah. I mean, the last time I saw it up close was…” He shrugs. “... when we were sixteen. With Daehyun.”
Sooah’s eyes widen right on cue. “Oh, God,” she exclaims, taking a deep breath.
“Come on, you know that -”
“If you bring up Daehyun one more time -”
She’s interrupted by the door to the apartment thudding open. A couple of people spill out, loud and drunk. Sooah turns back to him.
“Alright. I’m done.”
“Are you?”
“Yeah. Because I can’t have this conversation one more time, Jimin.” She shakes her head. “I’m going back inside.”
“Yeah, you do that.” Jimin watches her walk back inside, steps quick and steady, despite how much she’s drunk all night. Just as she enters, two people pass her by. Jimin realises with a start that it’s Hoseok and Chaeyoung.
“- only came here to criticise me!” Chaeyoung’s voice is loud and shrill compared to Sooah’s low one.
“If you think this is criticising, then you’re missing the point,” says Hoseok loftily, rolling his eyes. “I just don’t want you to kill yourself, okay? Sorry for being the only adult around here,” he mutters, striding down the hallway towards Jimin.
“Oh, please,” she snaps, scoffing. “You’re just programmed to find something wrong with everything I do.”
“And you’re just programmed to be a brat!”
“Great! Now you sound like my dad. Why don’t you call him and have drinks over it?”
“Seriously? I’m looking out for you because you’re my best friend’s sister,” he points out, turning around to face her. “I didn’t have to spend my Saturday night with Fire and Ice, you know?”
“Oh, because she has red hair? Clever.” Chaeyoung crosses her arms across her chest. “And you know what? Your best friend,” she continues, “doesn’t give a shit, alright? He knows I’m not twelve anymore. If he doesn’t care, why do you?”
“I - I don’t!” Hoseok sputters, going red in the face. “You know what? Fine. Hang out with that Ice and his group of Neanderthals - I don’t even care.”
“Great,” she says sarcastically. “Now you sound like the Hoseok I grew up with!” With one last glare, she turns around and stalks back into the house exactly the way Sooah had a few minutes ago.
Hoseok stands motionless for a moment before turning to face Jimin, eyes wide. “What the hell just happened?”
Jimin shakes his head, lost for words. “I have no fucking idea,” he mutters. “Do you want to call Suga hyung or should I?”
The doorbell rings and startles Namjoon, who spills a couple of drops of milk on his t-shirt.
“Damn it,” he mutters, dropping his spoon back into the bowl of cereal and holding the t-shirt away from his chest. “Can you get that?” he asks Jungkook, who’s sitting across from him at the breakfast table.
Jungkook nods and heads towards the door as Namjoon disappears into his room, opening it to see someone he hasn’t in a while.
“Sooah?” He chuckles in mild disbelief. “Um - hey, noona. Didn’t expect to see you… here.”
“Yeah, I know,” she says lightly, biting her lip. “Is Jimin here?”
Jungkook’s pause before he nods tells her that he knows something happened last night. “Come on in. He was pretty drunk last night so he went straight to bed,” he adds, shutting the door behind her and beckoning her inside. “I’ll just get him.”
Sooah nods as he shuffles inside, hearing a door open and him softly calling Jimin hyung. “He’ll be right out,” he says generously, coming back out from the hallway and going back to the kitchen table. A minute later, Jimin emerges from the same direction, his hair messy and eyes still a little droopy. He doesn’t look wholly surprised to see her.
“Morning,” she says after a moment. “How’d you sleep?”
“Crap.” He gives her a quick once-over. “Are you hungover?”
“Not in the least. You?”
He shakes his head, frowning a little at the movement. “Nope. Not at all.”
“Right.” Sooah falls silent, glancing surreptitiously at Jungkook as he scarfs down his breakfast. Jimin copies her, and they stare at him until he looks up from his phone.
“What?” he asks through a mouthful of cornflakes.
“Hey, Jungkook,” she begins. “Um, do you mind if…” She trails off, biting her lip when Jungkook simply frowns.
“Leave us alone for a minute?” Jimin prompts, and Jungkook immediately nods.
“Oh. Yeah, okay. Right.” He climbs off the chair, gathering his bowl, a plate of toast and a bowl of ready-to-eat kimchi, with his phone piled on top of the bread. “I’ll just… finish inside,” he mumbles, balancing everything and precariously walking inside.
Jimin turns back to face her again. “So… what’s up?” He frowns as she throws something to him, catching it easily. “Hangover pills?” he reads off the label. “I told you, I’m not hungover.”
Sooah shrugs. “Just keep it. For some other time.”
“Okay,” he says, slipping it into the pocket of his track pants. “Thanks. Was that it?”
Without his hair styled and his expensive clothes, he looks… young. His cherubic face, even with a straight expression and tired eyes, stirs an old, innocent adoration in her.
“I wanted to talk about last night,” she says. “Sober.”
Jimin shakes his head. “We don’t have to. I was - I was a bit of a dick, I know.”
“Yeah… but so was I.” Sooah’s eyes flicker to the floor. “I got defensive when you were picking on Alex and… I may have said some stuff I didn’t mean to.”
He nods slowly. “Guess I didn’t know what it’s like on the other side,” he says, cracking a half-smile. “I’m sorry if I… did I get you in trouble? When he found out that we used to…” He gestures between the two of them.
“No, you didn’t. He was a little surprised, yeah, but… kind of impressed?” She shrugs. “He really looks up to you.”
“That’s nice of him, I guess. He seems like a good kid.”
She chuckles. “He’s not that much younger.”
“No?”
When he doesn’t say anything further, Sooah sighs. “Jimin… I didn’t mean to say all that stuff last night.”
“No, you were right. Current boyfriend trumps ex-boyfriend,” he repeats, swallowing. “You weren’t the only one thinking it.”
“No, Jimin, that’s not true. Okay, fine, it’s true if I have to choose between them,” she amends, rolling her eyes. “In that case, I’m forced to choose my boyfriend over my ex.”
“Yeah. Right.”
“So don’t make me choose.” Just as she’d expected, Jimin’s shoulders relax, as though he hadn’t considered this. “Jimin, you are my ex but you don’t have to be just that for the rest of our lives. Come on, we’ve been broken up for longer than we were together - isn’t it time we actually became friends?”
“Friends?” He says it like it’s a foreign word. “I - Sooah, I get what you’re going for, I really do, but…” He takes a deep breath, like he’s bracing himself to say something. “I don’t know how we’ll do as friends, honestly.”
“Why? I can be a good friend,” she says, a little defensively. “I had a pretty good circle of friends, you know?”
Jimin chuckles. “No offense, but that is not a group I want to join. Come on, you’re talking about your high school friends, right? Sooah, they were awful,” he confesses, shaking his head. “Those girls didn’t have a shred of loyalty - they’d sell their mothers for gossip. And those guys you hung out with?” He exhales in disgust. “They weren’t friends. They were complete jerks and they just wanted to get with whichever girl would give in first.”
There’s a moment while Sooah processes this. “Right,” she says. “Okay.”
“I’m sorry, I didn’t mean it like that,” he says immediately, the regret audible.
“I know you didn’t,” she assures him. “I know, Jimin, because you’re a good guy. You were the best person I knew,” she admits, hoping he believes her. “That’s why I fell for you, and not any of those other jerks.”
Jimin says nothing, his eyes falling to the floor.
“You still are one of the best people I know,” she adds after a moment. “And I don’t want you to just disappear from my life because I’m dating someone. I’d rather have you as my friend than this - this guy from my past I hook up with a couple times a year.”
When Jimin still doesn’t respond, she sighs.
“Fine. Whatever. I’m still your friend.” Sooah stares at him, hoping for something, anything. “Bye, then.”
“You really think it’ll work?”
“Yeah, I do. We get along pretty well, in case you haven’t noticed. We can try at least,” she adds when he continues looking doubtful.
“You’re sure you won’t fall in love with me?” he asks seriously.
Sooah stares before snorting. “Jesus, Chim,” she says admonishingly as he bursts into giggles, “don’t say whatever pops into your head.”
“Sorry, I forgot you’re dating another idol now. Probably not a big deal for you,” he allows.
“It wasn’t a big deal when I was dating the first idol either.”
“Not even with his abs?”
“I preferred his calculus notes over his abs.”
Jimin makes a face. “Some friend.”
Sooah smiles back. There’s still something resembling hesitance in his expression, but she hopes it’s temporary. It’s unchartered territory for both of them, but a necessary change. She suspects it was what scared Jimin last night in the first place.
“I should go,” she says after a moment. “I just came to…”
“Ask for my forgiveness?”
She rolls her eyes. “Sure.”
Jimin grins, and she breathes a silent sigh of relief. He walks her to the door and for the first time in a long time, Sooah looks forward to their common future.
“By the way,” he asks, just as she’s stepping out, “you - you don’t actually think that I cheated on you. Right? When we broke up?” he clarifies.
Sooah frowns. “Um… no. Why - oh, the game? Last night?”
Jimin nods, his lips pursed. “You drank.”
“Oh, don’t worry about that.” She shakes her head and pats his arm comfortingly. “That wasn’t about you. Like you said,” she adds with a half-chuckle, “most of them were jerks.”

Harbouring a Hybrid - Part 4.5 Bonus chapter
Tumblr media
It’s another flashback bonus chapter! Chapter five is almost done and should be ready for Friday, but until then I hope you enjoy this little something extra…. 2.7K words, warnings; mentions of death, angst, insecurities
“Yoongi…”
Jimin shoots upright like he’s been burnt, pulling the covers with him and uncovering your sleeping form. There’s virtually little light in the room but his stare is dead on your form as if you just poured ice cold water all over him. Who the hell was Yoongi?
You said that name too softly, almost like a sigh. Was he someone from work? Someone who had wormed his way into your heart?
“My mate,” Jimin almost growls into the silent room, his sleepy affirmations heard by no one.
You start to frown, slightly restless as if reacting to his words and rejecting them, or at that’s how Jimin perceived it. The sight breaks his heart, your unconscious speaking for you. He pouted hard into the darkness, fighting back unshed tears as his hands fist the bed sheets. You were his mate, you were supposed to be his. He knew it, he knew you loved him the way he loved you, but you were fighting it, and he was giving your stupid human brain time to figure it out.
Did he give you too much time? What if you misread his patience? How could you not realise that Jimin was so in love with you? Or worse, what if you knew, but you didn’t reciprocate? You just passed his affection off as hybrid instinct and infatuation, as if he wasn’t human enough to love you like you wanted.
His thoughts spiral in his half awake - half delirious mind, digging him into a hole. He yowls quietly, unable to help it, tears finally falling as he watches you dream of another man.
“Yo-ngi,” you call out again, breathing his name into the silent air. “Do-t leave…”
Your frown harder, pressing your face into the pillow, your hands close to your chest as you start to feel the cold. And then you mumbled the words Jimin had been waiting to hear from you, but they’re not for him.
You slept through the night without waking up once, and yet you felt like you hadn’t slept at all. Your eyes are heavy, the sunlight in the room too bright for you to handle for a moment. Flashes of your nightmares try to penetrate through to your now conscious brain but you push them away before they spoiled the day, turning over to bury the sadness away by greeting your Hybrid, but the side he normally occupies is empty.
You sit up, slightly confused by his absence… Jimin had his own room but he always found a way to sneak into yours. In fact you could confidently say he probably slept in that room all of a week before he decided your bed was warmer and cosier.
A glance to the clock on the wall has your jaw dropping. It was already way past midday! Well that explained your groggy headache, you slept for far too long. But your normal alarm clock was nowhere to be seen. The feline always slept into the day, but on your rare days off he was up by the time the sun was, all to spend as much time with you as physically possible. It didn’t take a genius to figure out something was wrong.
“Jimin?”
There’s no response but you can hear the faint sound of the tv from the living space, climbing out of the bed to investigate.
You watch him from the bedroom door, sitting on the couch staring at the screen of the tv but you knew he wasn’t taking any of it in. You knew all his senses, except his gaze, were focused on you, what your next move was going to be. No greeting, no acknowledgement, Did you do something? You sighed.
Maybe you took rejecting his affectionate nature too far, the argument you both had last night coming back to you. You knew Jimin was sensitive and in need of attention but you always tried to keep an arms distance with certain things. You gave in where you could but some things were just too intimate, they were different in a human’s touch language. Hybrids were instinctually… open about physical skinship, but the meaning behind them did not translate the same way it would to a human.
Jimin didn’t look at you like that, he didn’t want affection from you romantically, he was just touch starved and you were not going to take advantage of it or confuse him. You’re surprised he’s never questioned how erratic your heartbeat got when he got too close, but you guessed the same reason you never really questioned his actions either. He must think of it as normal human nature, he never interacted with anyone in this form other than you.
The tense set of his jaw worries you that something more serious was going on, JImin’s silent treatments never lasted long, and they very very rarely ever happened on your day off. But before you could tackle whatever the issue was, you desperately needed to wash the sleep off your face, and then you would confront your grumpy hybrid.
Nothing, he’s not uttered a word to you. It was like you didn’t even exist. Your heart was breaking so hard you’re sure he can hear it with the way his grey ears were twitching.
“Jimin what did I do?” your previously demanding tone, now reduced to a sad whine. “Kitten are you seriously going to ignore me all day? Even though it’s the only day we have together for a whole week?”
Maybe you were playing dirty with his favourite nickname and the guilt trip, but you were desperate at this point! You don’t even think he’s had anything to eat. He now looks away from you completely, his eyes that were in the empty space in front of him, still feigning watching the tv, now turned towards the kitchen door, the opposite direction from where you sat.
He’s biting his tongue, refusing to give in. It wasn’t fair, how could you behave like this with him when he knew you had someone else. Was he really not a man in front of you, did you regard him as some sort of pet? His Y/n, his human, were you really like the rest of them? Was he truly an abomination, an animal, to you?
“Jiminie please?” You wrap your arms around his, hugging it close while leaning into him, playing every card you had available. You hold back the sigh of relief that he doesn’t pull away, but he still doesn’t look at you. It wouldn’t worry you so much if there was actually a semblance of emotion on his face, but it's so blank it scares you.
“Baby if you don’t tell me what I did, how can I apologise for it?” You ask, trying to hum cutely afterwards like they did on those Kdramas you were both obsessed with, the ones you should be watching now with snacks and cuddles like you had planned! Still no response, you could cry at this point, hell even your eyes watered letting you know that could be a reality soon.
“Fine you don’t have to tell me, I’ll apologise anyway!” You try to catch his eyes, trying to be seen in his field of vision even just a little. “Jiminie I’m sorry, please forgive me, please?”
He sighs. The first actual sound you’ve heard from him all day. You don’t know whether to hold your breath or jump for joy. He finally looks at you, his expression still unreadable but it’s something, he’s giving you something.
“I’m really really really sorry kitten,” you look up at him, trying to make your eyes as big as possible, pouting pathetically so he would give in. “Can I make it up to you with cuddles and a movie?”
He sighs again, but this time it sounds like he’s in pain, his head dropping low towards his lap. The action makes you pull away, scared you were making things worse, heart now shattered. What did you do? You fight the way your bottom lip trembles, telling yourself to hold it together until you got to the bottom of it all.
“You don’t have to force yourself to spend time with me,” he grumbles through gritted teeth, as if it hurt to speak. His hands are clasped tightly together in front of him, his eyes on them.
“What?” You frown, shocked he would ever insinuate something so ridiculous. “Jimin-”
“If you want to spend it with him, you should,” he cuts you off, holding back his own tears, but he could feel the red rim around his eyes that would give his emotions away.
“Wha-” you shake your head in disbelief, trying to make sense of his words. “Who?”
He doesn’t respond right away, but the despondent look in his eyes makes you place your hand on his, trying again. “Jiminie, who?”
“Yoongi.”
He finally confronts you, turning to face you, watching your eyes go wide with shock and guilt. He tries not to look hurt, tries not to let his heart break with the thought of you loving someone else when you were here with him.
You look down, squeezing your eyes shut as if that would stop the flood of images flashing behind them. One name had you break down faster than anything else, it stripped you of all your defences, you can’t help but sob with the sudden pain pounding through your chest. It was Jimin’s turn to hold your hand as you whimpered, trying to get a hold of yourself but the more you tried the worse it got. He watches confused and shocked at the way you suddenly burst into tears, hating himself for ever making you cry like this. He should have kept his thoughts inside, he should have pretended nothing was wrong.
He can’t take it, regret hits him hard as he takes you into his arms begging for your forgiveness, whispering words of apology into your hair as you bawled heart wrenchingly against him.
—-
He’s scared to speak, scared it will set you off again. He had never seen you break down like that before, he never wanted to see it again. Did this Yoongi person hurt you? Is that why you reacted like that to a name? A hundred different questions and thoughts echoed through his mind in the long minutes of your crying, but he couldn’t voice them, not until you spoke first.
You push away from him, still sniffing every now and then. He hesitates to let you go, eyes on your form begging you silently to look at him, to tell him he hadn’t crossed a line of no forgiveness.
“Where did you hear that name?” you whispered hoarsely, your head tilting towards him but still refusing to meet his eyes. You both sat side by side now, his whole body turned towards you, all his attention on every single move you made. He tells himself to be thankful you were still close, still within reach. You hadn’t moved away too far, that must mean you didn’t hate him, right?
“You called for him in your sleep,” he says timidly, terrified you were going to start yelling at him, but you just nod.
You look far away, trying to hide the way you were getting set off again, trying to take a deep breath to collect yourself.
“You don’t have to tell me anything Y/n,” he says, wishing he never heard that name in the first place, his mind jumping to the worst worst conclusions. If someone hurt his mate… “I’m so sorry.”
You must hear the heart break in his voice, your hand reaches for his even though you can’t look at him yet. You look up at the ceiling instead, blinking back the tears. He holds your hand like it was a lifeline, bringing it to his lips to place a chaste kiss on the skin. There were a hundred ways he could say sorry, a hundred ways he wanted to comfort you and make it all go away.
“Of all the hybrids I failed to save, one haunts me the most,” you confess, every word feeling like lead as it left your lips. You still don’t look at him, instead you look despondent, like you were somewhere else entirely, the haunting place you kept your thoughts buried. “In my heart I know with every single one of them I tried my hardest to help them, and I mourn their loss every day, but Y-yoongi- “
You hold back a choked sob, fighting it as it came out. Jimin shuffles closer, his head on your shoulder, letting you know he was there, it was okay if you continued or not.
“It was my fault,” you tell him, voice thick and heavy. “I’m the reason he died, he didn’t need saving, he was surviving on his own but I’m the one that got him caught.”
“Y/-“
“I was selfish, I wasn’t careful enough,” you explained, “he was the only one that understood me, the only one I could confide in, he was my best friend. And a part of me knew it wasn’t safe, but we were teenagers and I was so stupid…
He was my first love, I didn’t want to let him go.”
Jimin’s silent as you spoke of the weight you could barely manage to carry. It didn’t feel lighter now you confessed it, the same grief you had as an adolescent hit you just as hard.
“I never even got to tell him…”
He cradles your face, wanting you to look at him when he spoke, but your eyes avoid him.
“It wasn’t your fault,” he tries to reassure you, wanting you to feel his words. “You were young, you didn’t do anything wrong Y/n.”
You shake your head, not believing him for a second. He didn’t know the whole story, he didn’t know who your parents were.
“You always say it to me Y/n,” he kisses your forehead, wanting so badly to bring you some sense of comfort, hating that his human looked so hurt. “The world is wrong, not us, not the hybrid or the human harbouring one.”
You were always so strong for him, and he made it all crash and burn in a second. You hid so much pain from him, but always asked him to share his. Now he wanted to be someone you could lean on too, the way he did you.
You look up at Jimin with watering eyes, his palms still caressing your face, he tries to smile for you but his eyes water too. Your tears fall, another agonising guilt tearing through you as you take him in. You could never tell him you feared you were falling in love with him. Most would take the lesson of your loss as proof to let the ones you love know, you don’t know what tragedy would strike tomorrow. But that’s not how your brain interpreted it, Yoongi was taken from you because of your selfishness, you would never let yourself be that way again. It cost him his life, and you would never ever let the same happen to Jimin.
Jimin trusted you, and you were already betraying him by omitting the truth about your parents, but having these feelings you could never show or admit to, not even to yourself. Yoongi’s accusing eyes haunted your dreams every now and then, more so now, the closer you got to the feline hybrid your heart was trying to replace him with. But how do you explain to a ghost that that wasn’t the truth, you still loved him the way you did back then, still carried him with you through the years. Jimin brought you a sense of safety, a sense of home, you thought you were finally healing, finally earning forgiveness for your failures, but maybe you were wrong. You were still as selfish now as you were then, you were just pretending otherwise.
You pull his hands away from your cheeks recognising the flash of panic in his eyes before you wrap your arms around his middle. You sniffle, face pressed against chest, closing your eyes as you listen to the steady drum of his heart beat. He holds you back, tail wrapping around whatever part of you it could, taking the moment to let your confession really sink in.
You loved and lost a hybrid before him… His heart tore in two for you, but in the back of his mind, he felt himself hope a little, that maybe one day you would heal. Maybe one day, if he was lucky, you would love him like that too.

Genre:fluff/smut/angst

Jimin’s Pov
Opening the door for us I hear the bell jingle above, as Y/N stays close behind me to look around her surroundings curious of what is around her. Y/N notices that I'm getting farther away from her, so she rushes to stay next to me. Smiling at her cuteness I walk to the front desk to ask the gentleman to set up the measurements for suits, dresses, and skirts for Y/n. The man himself looks Y/n up and down criticizing her making her cave in herself. I clear my throat to catch the guy's attention and give him a hard stare. “Why are you judging her? I am the one paying and I am the one who owns this boutique. Even if I wasn't here you should treat others with respect. If you do not correct your look and judgment on your face I will put you where you polish shoes all day. Got it, and if I see or here you treat another customer like this you will be fired!.” The man shivers and I smell the bitterness of the fear on him when he quickly apologizes to me. I scoff at him, “Don't apologize to me, apologize to her.” He looks down and stutters, “I am -I’m sorry madam please forgive me for my behavior towards you.” Smelling the saltiness of tears, my neck snaps toward Y/n to see she is holding in her emotions . Before she even starts to speak I pull her outside towards the alleyway before cupping my hands around her cheeks to make her look at me. “Why are you about to cry?” I look away frustrated with myself by scaring her but concerned for her at the same time. In shame but hoping she will forgive me I speak, thinking she is sad because of me, “I have to be harsh sometimes to the people who work for me, or they will soon treat everyone like the way he treated you.” Sighing heavily I look back at her to lock her soft eyes with mine. “ Look I’m-” I get cut off because of her yanking my hands away from her face before she buries her head in my chest by hugging me tightly. Feeling her shoulders shake, she starts to speak but it's muffled, “No, don't be sorry it's not you, it's me. When he looked at me the way he did I felt like I don't deserve you or the clothes you are getting me.”
My chest tightens painfully while I hug her tighter to myself, “No, you deserve these clothes, everyone does. I'm already fond of you Y/N, so please don't say that you don't deserve me as your Boss. When I myself don't deserve you as my maid. A maid that is so willing and precious.” Holding her a little longer and rubbing her back softly, I heard her calm down as she slowly got out of my grasp to speak softly, “I like you as my Boss Jimin. I am lucky to have you too.” Sighing heavily again and ready to let this go I wipe her tears away as, I pull her back into the shop once more.
The guy before has already set everything up and got a woman to do the measurements. Relaxing my shoulders a bit I gently push Y/n into the direction of the lady while whispering quietly to her that I'm here before I sit on the couch facing them. Watching Y/n slowly open up to the woman and trying to not be a hindrance to her, when I notice my breath hitch. I slowly started to realize her beauty not only from the outside; as when I first met her on the balcony, but inside as well. Not many humans are like her, and I wish to have her next to me when I get married and have children in the future. Y/n is like a lily in the middle of a rose bush that rarely sees the light of day.
Getting interrupted from my thoughts by the guy from before; which is very irritating, he asks me what type of cloths and colors that I would like for Y/n. I got mad not fully understanding the whole situation and spoke rudely, “You should be asking her, not me.” The guy looking uncomfortable before speaking again, “ Miss. L/N wants you to pick it out Sir.” Getting quickly embarrassed I look up at Y/n that is already dark beet red from embarrassment herself. Not knowing if it is her asking me that embarrassed her, or from my outburst. I slowly nod taking the cloths from the man, and looking at some different ones I know would look remarkable on her.
“ Y/n what textures do you like?” Y/n speaks to me in a hushed voice, “ I love soft and smooth textures, Jimin.” Smiling because I like the same textures so I nod at her approvingly. After some time of picking out different cloths and colors I got up to take Y/n’s hand. Pulling her to walk out of the boutique I speak to the seamstress; not stopping, “I need one outfit completed by tomorrow noon and delivered. You can make final touches at the mansion. Striding out the door I hear a, “ Yes Mr.Park.”
Side by side with Y/n going down hill towards the limo I notice her looking around enjoying everything around her. My heart is swelling at the site. When I notice that we are getting near, Y/n rushes in front of me to try and open the door before I get there. I smile gratefully at her, “ Y/n you seriously don't have to do that.” What does she do? She just shrugs like it's no big deal and smiles, “ After you Jimin.” Shaking my head in disapproval I get in the car. When she just gigkes away, closing the door behind her. Turning my body towards her I ask her what she would like to eat.
Y/n’s Pov
When Jimin asked me what to eat I got hesitant because I wanted to cook him a meal, but was afraid to tell him, as he seems to have plans to eat out. Although not wanting to hide anything from him I tell him bashfully, “I actually wanted to cook you a meal if that is okay.” Jimin looks at me confused and asks, “Why?” Speaking from my heart I start to speak again, “ I believe home meals taste better because you can taste the effort of the ones who care about you.” Looking up from my lap after speaking I see him staring at me with longing in his eyes and speaking with a quite rough voice, “ Okay…” There was nothing but silence as we stared at one another until he looked where David is supposed to be at, “ Mr. Godfried please take us home.”
Hearing Mr.Godfried reply, “Yes Sir” the vehicle starts rolling by buildings which slowly thin out to the thick forest of different colored and sized trees. Captured by the beauty I avoid Jimin's look as he gives me a desired look that makes my cheeks heat up with redness.
Arriving at the mansion I get ready to cook for the both of us with one of my favorite dishes called chicken tortilla casserole, but I'm intimidated to do so. Why? Jimin here insisted on watching me cook, so dashingly bold he sits on the Island counter. While I'm here hoping not to burn myself, and being so caught up on concentrating I literally jump out of my skin when he asks me where I learn to cook. After my heart stops rapidly beating out of my chest, and stops laughing and apologizes for scaring me I speak, “I learned to cook from my Dad actually. He loved cooking for my Mom and us children, but after finishing a meal he would always say, "here feel my love!” Chuckling after mimicking my Father fondly of old memories, “ He also sounded so aggressive while saying it too.”
Laughing again I glance over my shoulder as I peek at Jimin and notice his smile is mournful before he speaks, “I never knew that families could have so much love. Most of them nowadays are for business only.” I stop mid stir to turn around and look at him full on in concern, “ I hope you won't Jimin. I hope you marry for love. You won't be as happy if you do. You and everyone deserves happiness Jimin, and I hope you remember that when you think about getting married.” The rest of the time cooking and eating was relatively quiet except for him saying how much he loved my cooking and he never had anything that tasted so good before. Sometimes I caught him stare at me and I would smile right back with a flutter of my heart each time.
Once we were finished I took both plates and silverware in order to wash them, as I hear him speak up when I'm about to leave the dining room. “After you're done please get ready for me to have some of your blood.” I turned around and I looked at him confused, “Didn't we just finish eating? Are you still hungry? I have some leftovers if you are.” Jimin nods his head to confirm he is still hungry when I speak stunned, “ Okay just let me get it ready. One second please.” He quickly speaks to stop me in my tracks, “ I'm a vampire Y/n I will always be hungry until I have some blood. Yes, I enjoy the flavor of human food, but it's like eating air because it will do no good to fill me up. Blood is the only thing that can sustain me.”
Jaw dropping I nod in understanding, “ I-oh okay. Um, so uh, just let me wash these and I will get ready.” He steps closer to me, “Wait, first thing is I truly did enjoy the food I promise you that and it is the best I have had. Actually, would you mind making my meals from now on? I mean if only you're okay with doing it. Secondly, do you know how to properly get ready? I mean this being your first time.” I smile genuinely at Jimin because he looks so cute and bashful. Speaking while slightly chuckling at the first, “I don't mind making your meals Jimin, it would be my honor. I'm really happy that you like it. Although, I think I know how to get ready properly, but I'm not a hundred percent sure.”
At my statement he first brightens up like the sun, but then hearing my statement he looks worried so he speaks in a soft deep tone, “Just in case I'll give you directions anyway. On your night stand there should be alcohol wiles and a soapy wet cloth. Which you can find in our bathroom. Next to it should be orange juice and raisins, but in the morning please have protein and spinach to help rebuild your blood. The second to last thing you should do is take a steam hot shower to kill most germs on your body for your safety of not getting an infection. Don't put on moisture because it could disrupt the feeding, so please wait until next morning to do so. Last thing is wearing your night wear because feeding off you shouldn't make you faint, but it should make you very tired. Okay? Can you do this for me?”
Jaw dropping again from being stunned by how many step there are, but still nod in agreement. Looking a bit relieved he talks gently, “Thank you and see you soon. just knock on my bedroom door when you're ready.” Nodding again I answer, “Okay see you soon.”
Putting the dishes away after cleaning them I went upstairs to my bedroom still being in a haze of what's to come. Stripping naked slowly and taking my hair out of the half up do it is in I peer in the mirror with my heart beating out of my chest with, my mind is buzzing with endless questions. “Will I be okay? What if he won't treat me the same after? What will Jimin look like in his vampire form? Will he stop? Can he lose control of his thirst? What will be the effect and how will I react? Will this be my last night living?” Shaking my head to get rid of the negative thoughts by pushing away from the counter to go in the already steamy shower. Washing my hair I breathe in deeply and sigh heavily with weight in my shoulders. Having knots in my stomach I realize I'm using his shampoo instead of mine that's right next to his. The smell is relaxing and intoxicating and I'm thankful for it as my body relaxes to the soothing smell of oranges.
Spinning in the shower being startled as I hear Jimin knock on the bathroom door. His muffled voice across the room behind the door speaks with worry. “ Hey Y/N are you okay? You have been in there for more than an hour. If you're that nervous we don't have to do it tonight and i'll find a blood bag to drink from instead.”
Rushing out of the shower as I put my sweatshirt on and some panties when I quickly opened the door saying, “ I'm sorry I didn't realize how long I was in there for.” Looking at his eyes I notice; he glances at my figure before his eyes change color from a coffee color to ice blue as he speaks. “ Are you sure about this? I can walk away right at this moment because once I drink from you I won’t stop until I have my fill or your pulse slows down.” Jimin still looks at me with his blue eyes as I see his concern, but also seeing his desperation. I can already tell that he needs my confirmation as I speak with steadiness after taking a relieving breath, “Yes, Jimin I am positively sure.”
He nods before gently taking my hand in his, as he stares at our hands intertwined before he gently pulls me to my bedroom. Stopping by my bed Jimin slowly climbs on my bed right next to the headboard as he beckons me to sit next to him. Doing as he says he watches me before he reaches out to me for my hand again as I get settled comfortingly. Taking his hand to feel his slight room temperature skin on my boiling hot skin is comforting. Jimin then uses his other hand to push my hair away from my face and neck as he whispers, “I’m going to start now, okay?” I nod without speaking as he then reaches for the alcohol wipe on my nightstand; where I had put it there before my shower.
Next, he reaches up and gently while my neck down towards where my collarbone is. After he discards the wipe back on the night stand as he looks at me with his brilliant blue eyes for what feels like a minute or two. Leaning down toward my neck I feel his soft lips on my collarbone kissing me up to where both my neck and collarbone connect, as he starts sucking gently. I gasp with a shiver that gives me goosebumps all over and a tingle in my nether regions, so timidly I reach out to grab us one free hand that was rubbing my hip and my other in his hair at the back of his neck.
That’s when I feel the razor sharp canine teeth of his and who’s warm tongue. Tensing while slightly groaning as I feel that he scrapes my neck with his teeth to open a small wound, but it slowly turns into pleasure as he sucks my neck harder. Think that was it he bit down faster than lightning, as I cried out in unbearable pain from the horrible stinging sensation. Then the pain turns into harsh throbs as I start pushing him away crying. When I felt it. The ache in my heart of need and desperation. Like I need him. “Jimin,” I whimpered, wishing that he was a part of me. “Jimin please.” He slowly lays me down on my back and pulls his hand out of mine to put it behind my upper back close to my neck as to push me into him. Jimin making a home in between my legs I moan out intensely as I feel that he is hard. Next, this rush of lust comes crashing down in me so powerful, and out of nowhere.
Being consumed by lust I wrapped my legs around his hips and pushed my hands and arms onto his back to pull him into me to feel him as close as possible. Moaning by the weight of him on top of me I feel Jimin grind on me with harsh and slow thrusts. Hearing Jimin moan into neck makes my clit throb in want, so I push back with my hips helping him give us both pleasure.
Finally, I feel unconditional love from him. Moving my hand away from his back down across his butt and dragging them up under where his stomach is, slowly enjoying his flat stomach before reaching his pecks wishing I was touching his skin instead through his silk button up. Finding his top button I unbutton it and enjoy the little skin that I am allowed to feel, so I move to the second button desperately trying to feel a little bit more of him. When he unexpectedly got off of me and quickly apologized. Looking in pain to be away from me I listen to what he says hoping he’ll come back to me, “ I’m sorry I don’t… I can’t believe it.”
Sitting up I try to touch him, “ It’s okay. It was new for me so I didn’t know what to expect. I couldn’t control myself either. I’m sorry as well.” He chuckles looking away in shame. I was the first to initiate. Look, I got to go.” He gets up off the bed moving toward the door. He speaks one more time before leaving me alone. “ Drink and eat what’s on your nightstand and please clean your wound. I would do it myself but… The wound will be fully healed by the middle of the night…. Thank you… for tonight Y/n and again I’m sorry.”
Still frozen on the bed of trying to reach for him I try to get over the initial shock. I do what he says while my mind goes numb because my brain and emotions can’t handle what just happened yet. I don’t just give someone my body, I have been waiting for my future partner. Being confused I restlessly toss and turn until I sleep into a dreamless empty sleep.
Waking up the next morning I pushed myself out of bed to walk half asleep with my eyes closed. Walking towards the bathroom I slowly leave a trail of clothes; that I have to pick up once I’m more awake, to go back into the shower from last night to wash my body from leftover sweat or blood. When I hear a groggy deep voice, “ Y/n as much as we did last night I would advise you to cover up unless you want me to take you right here in this bathroom and right now.” I jump to the ceiling with fright; for what it seems like the millionth time since I met him, because next thing I know I’m rushing to pick my sweatshirt off the ground and pulling it over my head. Scattering to the door that leads to my bedroom I squeak , “I’m sorry!” Once I reach the door I slam it behind me with my heart suddenly feeling like it’s getting slashed into a million pieces from being away from him. Legs shaking and inner thighs slightly wet from arousal by his deep voice talking dirty to me. His hungry stare that made my pulse sky rocket, as I pushed away from leaning on the door by patting my cheeks with my hands trying to get rid of the inappropriate thoughts flowing through my head like water.
Putting new underwear on as I wait for the bathroom to be open to use I sit on my bed cross legged. Not expecting the door to open to my bedroom where I see Jimin walk out towards where I’m sitting on my bed without a shirt.
Speaking once again in his morning voice I look away from his chest and the lingering tattoo on his rib cage, “ Do you want to tell me how you felt last night? Or do you not want to talk about it today?” I look at him as I nod with embarrassment, as he sits next to me and tenderly puts his hand on my thigh. “I’m actually really confused. The rumors I heard from before are nothing compared to what I felt. I was completely connected to you. I mean at least I thought I was because our feelings were melting together like milk and chocolate. At first I felt like I needed you and my soul needed you. I felt like I would have been completely and utterly broken if you stopped right then and there.”
Looking up at him before putting my hand on his cheek slowly running my fingers through his hair I continued my speech. “Next, was this feeling of lust. I wanted you. No, I was burning deeply inside for you to be in me, or connected to me somehow. There was a necessity to make sure you were pleased as if my life depended on it.”
Removing my hand from his face I dragged it down his neck; as he visibly swallowed thickly, before I stopped my hand right over his heart finishing my address on this subject. “Finally, the most powerful feeling of all was love. I loved that I would be happy with you even if I am gray and old as long as I can be beside you for the rest of your life. I felt so overwhelmed.. I. I,”
I became quiet , but quickly spoke up again about what happened in the bathroom just a minute ago. “ Then when I heard your voice this morning I felt shivers like please shivers, you know? When you spoke at first I was lost in all of you except being whiplashed not knowing you there at first, but when my brain registered what you said my arousal was flowing like a dog in heat. Scared of what I was feeling in the bathroom I ran and slammed the door. My heat was ripping apart and hurting so much I almost couldn’t bear it. I wanted to run back in there, to you Jimin. I needed your touch, but I forced myself to walk away.
I was so confused yesterday. I knew I liked you , but I also knew that I couldn’t have you because you would never like me. I was pushing you into a brother sister relationship to help cope with wanting more than that. Although, after last night I … I ,” He takes both of my cheeks; that makes me stop talking and look into his brown eyes, looking at me deeply, “You what.” I gasp out, “I can’t be without you it’s something deep, so deep in side me like part of the core of my being that need you.”
Next thing I know is he is passionately kissing before he breaks off just as quickly, “What you feel is our mating bond. I felt what you felt too, but a hundred times stronger because I’m a vampire and your a human. Yes, I was attracted to you the whole time. But..”
As I furrow my eyebrows together I get more confused than I was before,” Then why can’t we be together? If you like me and I like you, no love you and we’re mates. Then why? Why did you stop last night? Why do you look ashamed when you were leaving your room last night? Are you ashamed that I’m a human?”
He tears up but shakes his head no, “I could never be ashamed of you my love, but we can’t be together…..

Summary
Namjoon and Jimin have been together for only 7 months and it’s been near perfect.
Song inspiration:

"This twist of fate goes to show that nothing's ever perfect."
