hello all fellow doctors...finally i managed to finish my "steampunk fantasy" plague doctor cosplay...i'm excited to show it, here you go...plus a little biography of my character, my Dr. Seba (Sebastian Winters)
Sebastian Winters is a boy who aspires to become a doctor following in the footsteps of his teacher, Dr. Marcus Green. Sebastian belongs to a wealthy and influential high society family, but he's hiding a secret. At night he disguises himself as a plague doctor and visits the homes of the poorest families offering them care and comfort. Sebastian also has a strong sense of justice and hates criminals, especially those who oppose the coexistence of humans and elves.
Sebastian Winters is 23 and loves medicine, literature and steam trains. In his free time he likes to read historical novels, play the piano and is working on a project. His favorite animals are cats, because he finds them elegant and affectionate his favorite food is fish
Okay so not really artwork… but one year I dressed up as a plague doctor and it’s been my favorite Halloween costume yet. I plan on remastering it this year to wear it around campus on Halloween >:)
Plague doctor costume 2020 project - Advancement (10/02)
Some new things to show you :)
First, I made a proper bulet journal to keep track of my ideas/process.
Here is a pic of the actual advancement of the mask. The light was very very crappy so it doesn’t show the real color, please refer to my previous post :)
I also worked on my belt. I’m not sure I will have enough time to do everything I plan for this year, so I just modified the one I had. The leather was treated so I couldn’t emboss it, I just painted it instead.
“Ad ignem, ad lucem.” It is latin and means “to fire, to light.” It is the Inquisition motto in the game A Plague Tale (go check it this game is awesome ! They have a tumblr : @unpetitrat ) I found it quite relevant to my costume too as fire was actually use to purify the air and repell the sickness.
Here is the inspiration for it : Lord Nicholas’ belt, from A Plague Tale. Concept art by Damien Papet.
For next time I’ll make a whole belt, stamped, handdyed, and everything but I’ll need time to decide on the latin sentences to wrote on it :D And maybe I could make a whole Inquisition inspired outfit ?
Speaking of a Plague Tale, I also fell in love with the design of their syringes, so I’ll probably make one inspired by it too :D (design by Damien Papet again, this guy is so talented)
