forever caught in my feelings about the way that buck and chim have SO much in common and the way that their storylines mirror each other SO well throughout the show

both of them discovered their calling while working as a bartender

chim’s rebar accident and the reference to his father vs. buck’s bread fiasco and bobby as his emergency contact

the way both albert and maddie run to their siblings because they weren’t safe or cared for where they were, but they know their sibling will be a safe place

wrt to the han brothers and the buckley siblings, they both have this theme of being the lesser-loved son, and they also have arcs dealing with the parallel and disparate ways they and their siblings experienced parental abuse

in season 2, buck saving chim’s life after the stabbing and chim returning the favor when he steps out to talk to the bomber after the truck explosion. both of them just buying time and scared out of their minds, both of them the first one to step up for the other in their hour of need

chim’s stabbing storyline and subsequent time recovering vs. buck’s leg and his whole 3a arc. i think they really could have dived into this parallel FAR more

maddie asking chim to keep a secret from buck in s4 and maddie asking buck to keep a secret from chim in s5 (do NOT come on this post with anti-maddie stuff. we love and understand different manifestations of trauma here)

chim pretending not to remember the rebar so he doesn't have to talk about it vs buck being good at seeming fine

the way that every instance of maddie being in danger has included buck and chim somehow working in tandem to help her—which is why 5.04 is such a gut punch

like. they rib and rag on each other but they also trust and understand each other so well. but right now that trust feels broken, and that’s why i’m wishing hoping AND praying for a buck and chim reconciliation arc in s6

a new (returning) character being added to 9-1-1's roster means that at some point, buck has to scream tommy's name in terror. he just has to. like. can you imagine how much differently that would hit? we saw the members of the 118 give buck the grieving spouse treatment when they all thought eddie was dead in a well. but if buck's boyfriend—as in, his actual, honest to god, officially recognized boyfriend—was in literal danger somewhere? jesus. i just got chills. i need it like oxygen.
