Dorm Room
Tumblr media
Steve Rogers x Reader
Steve Masterlist
Summary: After putting off cleaning your dorm room for a while to focus on your studies, Steve offers to help.
Warnings: none? Just fluff
Word count: 712
A/N: thought this idea was really cute and had to write it :)
Tumblr media
3 exams. 2 papers. 1 project. All due by next week. To say you were overwhelmed was an understatement. You focused on all your classes and then only, which resulted in other things suffering.
Your dorm. You haven’t cleaned your dorm in days, you normally had a schedule for it but that didn’t seem necessary. Your clothes were scattered on the floor so much that you couldn’t see the floor anymore. Trash bags, food packages, and wrappers piled up in an overflowing trash can. Your books and papers are all over your desk.
All of this wasn’t important to you right now, you had other things to tackle. Which meant not focusing on your dorm or other things, or well, someone. Steve, your boyfriend. He understood how you could get when you’re stressed and he always tries to help.
You were working on your project when there was a knock on your door. You ignore it, hoping the person would go away. They don’t, so you furiously walk over to the door, mad this person is disturbing your work and you’re greeted with your blue-eyed, blonde-haired boyfriend.
“Bad time?” He asks, walking in behind you.
“I have a lot to get done.” You spoke, plopping down at your desk.
Steve looked around your dorm, seeing the state that it’s in. Not judging you because he would never do that. He comes over and sits on your bed as close to you as possible, “you’re doing that thing when you have a lot of work.”
As you look at him, the look in your eyes gives him his answer. “Steve, I-I really have a lot to do, I don’t have time to clean this all up, I don’t have-.”
Steve grabs your hand in his, “I’m not judging you (y/n), you don’t have to explain anything to me.”
You nodded, fiddling with your pencil, “okay.”
“I want to help you,” he smiles, “in any way that I can.”
“I don’t know what you could help me with Steve, I know you mean well but I don’t know.”
“I’ll clean up your dorm.”
“You don’t have to do that, it’s a mess in here, I can clean it.”
“Baby, you know I don’t mind. It’s one less thing on that stressed mind of yours.” He smiled before getting up to kiss your forehead.
He didn’t wait for you to say yes, he just started cleaning. He started with the trash, collecting all of it so he could take it out of your dorm. Then he folded or hung up your clean clothes, also putting the dirty clothes in your hamper so he could wash them.
He kissed you goodbye and went to wash your clothes down in the laundry room. While he was waiting for the clothes to wash, he went to his dorm, grabbing a vacuum, one of his sweaters, and some snacks.
He went back to the laundry room, hoping it was done and he put your clothes in the dryer. He took a minute to send you a text while he waited for your clothes to dry. Should be back soon.
While Steve was helping you, you managed to finish your project and 1 of your papers. So you decided you deserve a break, a few moments later, someone’s knocking on your door again. You open the door to see Steve with your clothes, folded, a vacuum, one of his sweaters, and some snacks.
Your hands go straight to the sweater, grabbing it and putting it on with ease, “You’re pretty perfect, you know that?”
He kissed your cheek, “If anyone is perfect, it’s you.” Steve puts the rest of your clothes away before plugging up the vacuum and vacuuming the floor. “I think that’s everything,” he unplugs the vacuum, directing his attention back to you,” How much progress have you made?”
You smile, jumping on your bed and patting it, inviting him to sit with you. He listens, climbing on your bed and sitting next to you, engulfing you in his arms.
“I finished my paper and project today, and now I have a clean dorm. Thanks to the best boyfriend in the world, you really didn’t have to do this for me.”
“I know, but I wanted to.”

Help
Tumblr media
Steve Rogers x reader
Steve Masterlist
Summary: You don’t ask for help and that’s a known fact, after your accident Steve offers to help.
Warning: mention of broken bones, description of how they fix a broken bone
Word count: 617
A/N: there’s a giant space- I have no idea why. I need me a friend like Steve :)
Tumblr media
It had been a few hours since you got settled into your home after getting ubered from the hospital. You got all your hospital supplies they sent home with you and you snagged a few hospital socks. You were honestly just happy to be out of there. You hated hospitals.
You had a bunch of rods and screws in your leg to help immobilize your leg as it healed since it broke in multiple places. You were in the wrong place at the wrong time and that’s what caused your injury. So you were rushed to the hospital and got emergency surgery, which now meant 6 to 8 weeks of recovery. Yay you.
Once you were finally settled and everyone stopped calling and texting, you propped your leg up and turned on your favorite show. Just when you were comfortable, your doorbell rang. Groaning, you grabbed your crutches and made your way to the door.
You open the door for a few seconds, seeing Steve before slamming the door in his face. “(y/n)! Open the door.”
“You made me get up and answer the door when you could’ve called, go away.”
“Open the door, I’m not leaving.” He responded.
You rolled your eyes and opened the door, moving so he could come in. He had multiple bags, some flowers and your favorite dessert. “What’s all this?”
He smiled, putting everything down on your kitchen counter,“I’m staying with you, at least until you get off the crutches.”
“No you’re not. Did Nat or Bruce send you? You can leave, thank you for the snacks and flowers but I don’t need you to stay.” You insisted, handing him his bag and going over to the door.
“(y/n).”
“I don’t need any of you babying me, I’m fully capable of taking care of myself.”
“And we know that, but you don’t know how to ask for help and that’s okay.
You shook your head and pointed at Steve, not agreeing with his accusation, even though he was probably right, “that’s a lie, yes I do.”
“A few years back, when you first joined the Avengers you walked around aimlessly trying to find your room for hours instead of asking someone.” Steve said, trying to hide his protruding grin.
“I knew where my room was, I just wanted to look around.” You shrugged.
“Sure, you did,” He smiled as you walked back to the couch, sitting down, “the point is (y/n), you’re not alone, and I’ll just be hanging around in case you need me.”
Maybe it wasn’t a bad idea he stayed around, you thought. He could do a bunch of stuff for you, why not.
“I guess that's fine, you can sleep in the spare room.” You replied, finally giving in to Steve’s request. Steve nodded and went to put his bag in the spare room. Once Steve came back you told him the details of your medication and physical therapy, which of course he already knew, but listened.
The idea of having Steve at your place gave you a sense of comfort. Something you hadn’t really felt before. Steve was willing to stay with you for weeks and help you. Something like that hasn’t happened before.
“How long are you going to stay again?”
“Until you’re off the crutches,” he responded, but noticed the shift in emotion on your face, “but I can stay as long as you want me to.”
“Thank you, Steve, really.”
“Of course, I think I’m the only one that could handle your snoring though.” He teased, sitting back laughing.
You gasp, glaring at him since he’s too far from you to do anything. “You’re lucky I can’t move fast.”

A New Beginning
Tumblr media
Bucky Barnes x fem!reader
Bucky Masterlist
Summary: Bucky confesses his love for you after waiting for years.
Warnings: none? Just fluff
Word Count: 1.4k
A/N: took me forever to figure out a title for this one.
Tumblr media
It’s your graduation day, 12 long years along with 4 more long years, they honestly flew by so fast. Today was the ceremony, it was finally time for you to get the degree that you worked extremely hard for.
You were ready, you could hardly wait. You decided you wanted to spend the day with your favorite person, Bucky, your best friend since 1st grade. Because what else would you rather be doing?
You picked up Bucky from his house and off you went, “can you believe we’re going to graduate today, Buck?”
“It's surreal.” He says, looking out the window.
“Why do I get the feeling you’re not ready to graduate?” You glanced over at him, “it’s been 4 years, I’m ready to start putting this degree to use!”
“Don’t get me wrong, I want to graduate.” He pauses.
“What’s the problem?” You say pulling over to stop and give him your full attention.
“(y/n), it’s nothing, just anxiety, it’s fine.”
You didn’t believe that at all but you didn’t push, you got back on the road and drove to you and Bucky’s favorite place to eat.
You both ordered your meals and sat down at one of the tables, “you talk to Steve?”
“Yeah, he’s coming tonight, he arrived in town last night.”
Steve was you and Bucky’s friend, but you could call Bucky and Steve. Brothers. Steve was a year in front of you and Bucky so he graduated last year and landed himself a job in the Midwest.
“Great, I can’t wait to see him, it feels like it’s been so long since he was here.” You exclaimed before taking a bite of food.
“Around 8 months,” Bucky responded.
“Yeah, I mean he just got hired at his new job a few months ago. I’m just glad he’s here to see us graduate.” You smiled.
You and Bucky spent the rest of the day together, up until a few hours before the ceremony. You started to head back to Bucky’s place so you could drop him off. Throughout the day you noticed how strange Bucky was being, and you couldn’t put your finger on it as to why.
“Bucky, something is bothering you, what is it?”
“Nothing, just nervous about tonight.” He says, shifting in his seat a little.
“I feel like it’s more than that, Bucky. You know you can tell me anything.” You say, patting his arm.
Bucky didn’t know if he could. Today was the day he wanted to tell you. Tell you what he always wanted to tell you. He’s in love with you and he has been for years, but he’s afraid of losing you all in one.
“Yes, I know.”
You pulled into Bucky’s driveway, letting him out, “I’ll see you tonight!”
He smiles, waving back at you, “can’t wait.”
As you drove off, Bucky went into the house and to his surprise, His mother and Steve were in the kitchen.
“I didn’t know you were stopping by before the ceremony,” Bucky says, stopping in his tracks.
“Aw come on, I had to come to see you,” Steve says, getting up and pulling Bucky into a hug. “It’s good to see you, Buck.”
“You too.”
Bucky’s mom excused herself so she could let Bucky and Steve talk. “So? Did you tell her?”
Bucky sits down at the dining table, “of course I didn’t tell her. I couldn’t tell her all these years, what makes you think I could now?”
“Because if you don’t, she’ll move and meet someone else and you’ll lose your chance,” Steve argued.
“I don’t want to ruin what we have, Steve, we've been friends for 16 years.”
“Have you considered the possible idea that the feeling might be mutual?” Steve asks, throwing Bucky off.
“No. I didn’t think of that.”
Meanwhile, you were making your way inside your house, and you went straight into your mom’s room.
“Spending all this time with Bucky makes me feel things.”
“Feel what kind of things?”
”I mean he’s my best friend, we’ve been best friends since 1st grade, we both went through our phases and we were both witnesses to that, but I don’t want to lose him.”
“You won’t..”
You had been thinking about traveling the world for the next year, leaving your mom and Bucky here, but a part of you didn’t want that. You didn’t want to travel by yourself. You wanted Bucky with you. You were conflicted about your emotions, you wanted to travel but didn’t want to leave Bucky, but he would be fine right? He’d fall in love and maybe get married, who knows, but thats what you were afraid of.
Finally, it was time for the ceremony, you sat in your seat as you waited to be called. Since they made you practice the seating arrangement so many times. You cheered on for Bucky as he went up and got his degree. You could hear his family and friends and your family and friends go berserk. Once it was your turn, you got up and got your degree, hearing cheers from both of your families and friends once again.
After the long ceremony, you and Bucky met everyone outside. Some of your classmates and friends come up to hug you and give you gifts. Hugs and congratulations are everywhere as both of your moms tear up because of how proud they are.
When they finished crying, it was time for pictures. You lost count of how many pictures you had taken. Some with Bucky and his family, some with Steve, some with your family, some with your friends, some with Bucky and Steve. By the end of all the pictures, you were just ready to celebrate.
Everyone started heading to their cars so you could get to Bucky’s house, where his mom was having a gathering. Winifred, Bucky’s mom, called out to him telling him to hurry up which made the both of you head to the parking lot. Bucky got in the car with his mom and Steve and you got in the car with your mom and headed to Bucky’s house.
“Is Bucky still acting weird?”
“Sort of?”
“Just give him time and he’ll talk.” Your mom responds as she pulls into Bucky’s neighborhood.
“Yeah, you’re right, it’s just weird. Normally he tells me what’s going on,” you whip your head to the side to look at your mom, “am I losing him already?”
“No,no, honey, you’re overthinking this, take a deep breath, we’re almost to the house.”
Your mom parked the car and you got out and went into Bucky’s house, since it was practically your house too you just walked in, “ need any help?”
She gives you a list of instructions, while Bucky and Steve are off getting the backyard prepared. Your mom came in soon after and helped Bucky’s mom with the kitchen.
Once you finished you went outside to check on Bucky and Steve, “She’s got you both out here cleaning with suits on.” You laugh, walking closer to them.
“You got it from here, Bucky? I’m going to change.” Steve says, looking at Bucky for approval.
“Yeah, I’ll be in soon.”
Bucky glanced at Steve, Steve responding by giving him a silent nod.
“Can I talk to you?” Bucky asks, you notice a change in his body language.
“Yeah, what’s up?”
“I have something to tell you, but I don’t know how.”
“Okay. You don’t have to tell me now.”
“But I want to, our lives are going to change drastically after today and I need you to know what I have to say.”
You smile, resting your hand on his arm, “well I’m all ears.”
“I love you. No, I’m in love with you, and I have been for the last 7 years.” He finally spits out, reading your face for a reaction.
You stand there for a moment gathering your thoughts before speaking,“I love you, and I can’t imagine my life without you. You’re my favorite person, but don’t tell Steve.”
Bucky chuckled a little, still waiting for your full response.
“We can try this, well us. I may or may not have had a thing for you, that went away because I didn’t think you’d be interested in me because I’m literally your best friend.”
“You’re perfect.”
“That’s sweet, but that’s a reach,” you glance at your phone, checking the time, ‘we better get you back inside so you can change, you’re all sweaty.”
You stop and turn to him, pausing for a second, “you’ll travel the world with me?”
“I’d go anywhere with you.”

Fake Snow
Tumblr media
Bucky Barnes x fem!reader
Bucky Masterlist
Summary: Bucky surprises you after you say you miss the snow.
Warning: none, just fluff.
Word Count: 1.2k
A/N: Bucky just being the sweetest <3
Tumblr media
It was wintertime, your favorite season. Growing up where it snowed, you loved it. You got to make snow angels, snowmen, and threw snowballs, what was there not to love?
Bucky, on the other hand, hated snow, he hated the cold for that matter. You weren’t surprised when he told you, considering all hes been through.
So, Bucky wouldn’t have to relive those memories, the both of you moved, somewhere where it rarely snowed and got cold now and then. You were fine with it, you were, as long as you had Bucky you were happy. That didn’t stop the recurring missing feeling of the snow.
“Hey, doll, are you alright?”
‘Yeah, I’m fine.” You quickly spoke, dismissing the feeling. Bucky didn’t believe that, he slid next to you, putting his arm around you.
“Somethings bothering you.” He pushed, rubbing your shoulder with his fingers.
You hesitated for a moment, wondering if you should tell him, you didn’t want to make him feel bad. You took a deep breath, leaning over so you could look at his face, “I just miss the snow.”
Bucky realized what was happening and he didn’t know what to say, he felt responsible, he was the reason you missed the snow. “I’m sorry, we can go back, we don’t have to stay here.”
“Hey, hey, it’s okay. We don’t have to do that, we both decided to move here-.”
He interrupts, “Because of me.”
“Bucky, don’t do that, I’m fine, really. None of what I’m feeling is your fault.” You tried to explain, hoping he’d listen. “Bucky, I’m serious.”
You honestly felt bad, it wasn’t his fault, but you knew he’d take the blame for it. The both of you sat there basically in silence, watching a show on Tv until Bucky got up.
“Where are you going?” you asked, hoping he’s not leaving because of the conversation you just had.
“I need to just go grab something from the store, maybe you could go spend some time with your friends from work, what are their names again? Uh, Lucy and Georgia.” He says, grabbing his keys.
“Are you sure? I can wait for you.” You ask, looking at him, waiting for an answer.
“No need, go have some fun.” He says, before coming to kiss your forehead, “I’ll see you later, love you.”
“Love you too.”
Little did you know that Bucky had come up with a plan while you were watching Tv, if you couldn’t be where the snow was, he was determined to bring the snow to you. So he needed you out of the house, and it looked like he was accomplishing. Bucky left soon after that and you got ready to grab a drink with your work friends. You hadn’t gotten a drink with them in a while, so when you texted them they automatically agreed. You met them at a small bar, close to your job, they said it was a pretty good place.
“Hey, how are you? It's been so long.” Lucy says as you sit down at the table.
“Hi, guys, I’m good, it seems like forever since we hung out. How are you both?”
You found out that Georgia has been waiting to get out of the house, since having her daughter. Lucy, on the other hand, has been on so many dates in the last few weeks, hoping to find a spark with someone.
After catching up with them you ordered a drink, and Lucy ordered a couple of snacks for the table. You were having a really good time, but then you thought of Bucky, you were worried, and it showed.
‘Spill it, what’s going on.” Lucy demanded, knowing something was up.
“Before I texted the both of you, I told Bucky I missed the snow, and then all of sudden he says he needs to run some errands.” you continued, “I feel like I hurt him and I’m anxious.”
“Hun, I think you’re overthinking this, he may just be trying to clear his mind.” Georgia butts in, giving her advice.
“I agree with G.” Lucy agrees, offering some reassurance.
So you dropped it, they’re probably right and when you get home you’ll talk to Bucky. Meanwhile, Bucky had bought a pool, some buckets of artificial snow, some fancy backyard lights, and some snow gear, and hurried back to the house.
Bucky arrived back home just a little bit after you left. He quickly went to put everything in the backyard. Within minutes Bucky was putting everything together, hoping he’d be quick enough to finish on time.
Another hour passed and you had to stop drinking so you could drive home, but before you left you wanted to call Bucky.
So you dialed his number and it went to voicemail, which was weird, so you called again.
“Hello?”
“Hey, babe.”
“Hey, doll, having fun?”
“Yeah, I did, I’m about to head home, should I pick up some food?”
“Yes, yeah, could you get the Japanese place on the other side of town?”
“Buck, that’s 40 minutes away.”
“Yeah, no, you’re right, doll, I'm sorry, maybe some pizza?”
“I can do that.”
“Thanks, darlin.”
“Of course, see you soon.”
You hung up the phone, putting it inside your pocket. You said goodbye to your friends and got in your car, ready to order the pizza. Bucky was trying to keep you away from the house for another 30 minutes, which worked. After you thought about it, you decided to just drive to the Japanese place, it was Bucky’s favorite place. So you drove to the other side of town to get Bucky his sushi.
You drove 40 minutes there and it was a lot shorter on the way back home. You pulled in your driveway and got out with the food, locking the doors behind you. You unlocked the front door and you were greeted with an empty living room, kitchen, and dining room.
“Bucky?” You called out, trying to figure out where he was. That's when you saw a light from the backyard. You put the food down and walked to the backdoor, opening it and stepping outside. ‘What are you doing out here?”
Your eyes meet Bucky’s for a moment as he holds out his hand, “I have something to show you.” Bucky led you to the other side of the backyard, then turned on the other lights, ‘Surprise.”
Bucky had filled the huge pool with artificial snow and had snow gear lying against a chair.
“No, you didn’t.”
“I did.” He smiles, watching your face light up. That’s all he wanted to see, was you smiling and happy. You jumped into his arms, kissing his cheeks, forehead, and finally his lips.
“What did I ever do to deserve you, Mr.Barnes?”
Bucky kisses you again, caressing your cheek with his flesh hand, “I think you should go get into your snow now.”
You scramble out of Bucky’s arms so you could put on the gear and get in the snow. You got to the top of the ladder on the pool and fell in, the artificial snow covering you. You jump up, shaking all of it off, ‘are you going to get in? it's not real snow.”
Bucky smiles, putting on a snow jacket, I don’t know if I’ll get in all the way, but we could throw snowballs.”
“How do you even clean this up?”
“I don’t know.”

Daddy’s Back: Daddy’s Staying? Part 2
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Bucky Barnes x fem!reader, Steve Rogers x fem!reader, Bucky Barnes & Steve x OC children [Iris and Canan]
Bucky Masterlist ✸ Steve Masterlist ✸ Series Masterlist
Summary: You decide to give Bucky another chance, but Steve is definitely not on board. Steve does some digging and finds out something about Bucky that makes you question his motives.
Warnings: you’re a single mom, Steve and Bucky arguing like children. Steve not wanting to give Bucky another chance (he’s kind of dramatic with it) there’s hints of fluff.
Word Count: 4.0k (I did not expect this part to be so long)
A/N: I’m back with a second part after posting the first part! Hope you guys like it!
Italics are flashbacks
Tumblr media
It’s been a few months since you’ve decided to give Bucky another chance. Steve gradually became not too fond of the idea, he thinks that Bucky is irredeemable. The question that still stands though, is he? Bucky tries to get along with Steve. But boy Steve is not having it at all.
“Steve, you were on board with this last time we talked about it.”
“I never said that. I just didn’t oppose your decision.” He replies, looking at you like you’ve made a grave mistake. “It is your decision.”
“You think I shouldn’t let him get closer to Canan and Iris.” You said as a statement rather than a question. “You don’t think he deserves a second chance.”
“Yeah, maybe he doesn’t deserve a second chance but I’m not doing this for me, I’m doing it for them,” you paused before looking Steve in the eye,” And if he’s not serious, I’ll gladly do what needs to be done.”
Today is Wednesday, which meant Bucky was coming over. Every Wednesday Bucky would come after school and help the kids with their homework. Bucky had to work 5 days out of the week but he made sure he was over each Wednesday.
After Bucky came by a few times, Iris finally got used to him, she wasn’t all that accepting because she didn’t like the sudden change. The guy she met at the park a few weeks ago was coming over every week. She didn’t gravitate towards Bucky as much as Canan.
The kids were eating their after school snack when the doorbell rang. Interrupting you and Steve’s conversation, “Steve, we’ll finish this later.” You went to open the door and Bucky was right on time.
“Hey James, come in.”
“Hi, thanks.” Bucky came inside, going straight to the kitchen to see Iris and Canan. The both of them said hi as they were excited for him to come. “Hey you two, how was school?”
The kids cheerfully told Bucky about their days at school, pointing out details they could remember the most. Bucky also told them a little about his day, he fixed up a few cars, changing tires, oil and fixing up other parts on cars.
Canan was intrigued, over the last few months he's started to have an obsession with cars, trucks, motorcycles, basically anything with wheels. “Could I watch you fix a car one day, Mister James?”
‘Sure, kid, we’d have to talk to your mom about the details though.” Bucky smiled before glancing at you from the other side of the room.
Bucky was checking out a customer when he saw you in the corner of his eye outside of his repair shop. “Ryan, can you help this customer, I need to check on something.” He said before jogging outside to see you. You giggled as he hugged you and placed a soft kiss on your forehead.
“What are you doing here, Doll?”
“I wanted to see you in action, fixing cars and your cute customer service smile.” You teased, kissing his cheek.
“Business is a little slow today, we’ve only had a handful of customers. A few oil changes, tire rotations, nothing too big.”
“Aw, well I’ll just have to come visit again.”
“That you have to do, come when it's busier and I’m all sweaty.” He smirked, making you smile again.
“I do like the sound of that.”
“I’ll figure out a day for the both of you.” You smile as you sit down at the table next to Iris. “What homework do you have today?”
“Shapes.” Iris said, grabbing her folder out of her bag. You looked over at Canan, who was already being helped by Bucky. “Canan, what are you working on today?”
“Numbers and Writing.”
“Good thing, I’m great at numbers and writing.” Bucky smiled, picking up a pencil.
Once Bucky arrived, Steve had gone into the other room so he wouldn’t be near him. You noticed but didn’t say anything. Steve had been responding like this for weeks. You thought maybe he’d come around since they were once best friends but Steve was not willing to try. Bucky on the other hand tried to be friendly and put the past behind him. Steve was watching some reruns on TV while Bucky was spending time with you and the kids.
Bucky helped Canan for a while until he got a call, Bucky excused himself and walked into the other room leading him right to Steve. Bucky waved and then answered his phone. His coworker was calling asking him to come in. Steve was listening intensely, just hoping he was still the same guy he was 4 years ago, but Steve was surely let down. Bucky told him he couldn’t, that he’s with his kids, he said in a low voice so that only the other super soldier and the coworker could hear. The coworker understood and Bucky thanked him before hanging up.
Bucky faced Steve, a smile on his face, “people can change Steve.”
“Not someone like you.” Steve spat as he got up from the sofa.
“What do you mean? Someone like me? What are you implying?”
“You can’t be redeemed, what pathetic excuse of a human walks out on his family,” he paused to chuckle, “and then comes back 4 years later.”
“You know what this looks like Steven?” Bucky questioned as he got in Steve’s face, “it looks like someone is jealous.”
Steve pushed Bucky back from out of his face, “You don’t deserve to be here.”
Before Bucky or Steve could speak again, Canan had walked in,
“Uncle Steve? Why are you mad at Mister James?” Canan asked as he walked into the loud room. Steve froze, not knowing what to say, Bucky on the other hand was ready for this sort of interruption, “me and your Uncle are working out a problem, why don’t you go back in there with your mom and sister.”
Canan looked at Steve and back at Bucky before walking back to the kitchen. Soon after you came into the room, a scowl plastered on your face, irritated with the both of them, “what is going on in here? If you both have disagreements, have them outside of my house.” Both of them look around like they’re children who just got scolded. “The both of you are too old to be yelling at each other like this.” You stood there for a minute giving them a chance to get out of each others faces, watching them,
“Now, are the both of you staying for dinner or not?”
The both of them nodded and came back into the kitchen. Steve started helping Iris with her homework while you started on dinner, ignoring Bucky as he did so. Thankfully the kids didn’t have much homework so they were done within the hour. As you cooked dinner Steve and Bucky sat across from each other, not saying a word but staring at each other.
You were relieved when dinner was ready, stopping them from whatever they were doing. You called the kids back into the kitchen and made their plates, setting them down on the table for them. You made your plate and sat down, Bucky and Steve following after.
After you finished dinner, you glanced at the clock, realizing the time, Bucky was about to leave, so you got up and walked to the door. Bucky had already said his goodbyes to Iris and Canan and was heading out. You followed him because you needed to talk to him,
“Steve, could you get them ready for bed, I need to talk to James.” Steve just nodded and ushered the kids upstairs. While Steve was getting them together you closed the door behind you and Bucky spoke, “(y/n), I’m sorry about what happened earlier with Steve.”
“He really doesn’t like the idea of you being here.” You replied, acknowledging his apology mentally, “I’m going to talk to him about it, because what I don’t need is two grown men fighting in my living room.”
“Yeah, I understand.” Bucky said, nodding.
You looked back at your house, “I better get inside, see you later.”
“Goodnight (y/n).”
You went back inside, locking the door, lingering by it for a second, thinking to yourself. Is he going to mess this up? Questioning your judgment. You were interrupted by Steve’s voice booming from upstairs, “(y/n)!”
“I’m coming!”
Steve was about to put Canan in the bath when you jogged up the stairs. You came upstairs and saw Iris tucked in bed, ready for a story. You smiled at Steve and Canan before going into Iris’ room. “Hey honey, ready for your story?”
“Mommy? What were you talking to Mister James about?” She asked, her (y/e/c) eyes looking at you, waiting for an answer.
“We were talking about when he’s coming by again,” you smiled, “so ready for your book?”
Every time it’s time to read her a bedtime story she always chooses the same book, Goodnight Moon. Once you finished reading, you turned on her nightlight, then kissed her forehead, ‘Goodnight Iris.”
“Goodnight mommy.”
You left the room, closing the door but leaving it cracked. Looking into the bathroom, Steve and Canan weren’t there so you walked towards his room. Canan was in bed and Steve was telling him about his day. Canan wasn’t really big on bedtime stories from books, he always wanted a real story, something that happened during the day. Steve told him all about his day, earning big laughs from him and you, as you listened.
Once Steve was done telling the story, he tucked Canan in and told him goodnight. You entered the room as Steve left. He was heading to Iris’ room to say goodnight. Whenever Steve was over, he made sure to say goodnight to both of them before leaving. You bent over and placed a kiss on Canan’s forehead and turned off his light, leaving his door the same way you did Iris’.
You walked downstairs, seeing Steve washing the remaining dishes in the sink. “You don’t have to do that, Steve.”
Steve set the dish down, “So you don’t need me anymore, you got Bucky so now you’re just going to let me go?” Steve spoke as he aggressively picked up the plate and continued to clean it.
“Steve. You’re taking this too far. I love you, and the kids love you. I’d never want you to leave.” You walked more into the kitchen and turned a dining chair around, sitting down. “After all these years, you think that when Bucky comes you’re not my best friend anymore?”
“(y/n) I-.”
“To be honest, I didn’t think I’d be going to the fair with a 2 and 3 year old.”
“I wanted to give you this, all the junk food you could imagine and some roller coasters if you want to ride.”
“You had me at food, but I do not want to step foot near these to-go roller coasters.” You said making Steve laugh a bit.
“Sounds like a plan.”
You had been exhausted after taking care of 2 sick babies and Steve wanted to take you out. Somewhere that was kid friendly, he decided on the fair.
“Steve, I just want to thank you for everything.”
“(y/n), you don’t have to do that.”
“You’ve been with me since day 1, you deserve some thanks.” You insisted as you patted his shoulder.
The day went on and you and Steve ate so much junk food it was starting to creep up on the both of you. “I’m going to be sick tonight.” You groaned.
“That's the beauty of the fair, I guess.”
“I feel too old for the fair.”
“It’s only been a few months, give him a year, but please no more arguing in my living room like children. The both of you are way too old to be bickering like that.”
He laughs, drying off a dish and smiling back at you. “Won’t happen again.”
The next few days looked the same, school, work, afterschool, homework, dinner and sleep. Steve didn’t come around much because of work, which was fine, you understood. It was finally Friday evening, which meant you and the kids could stay up late then sleep in. You didn’t have anything planned for the weekend, you honestly would just love to stay home and relax, but you can’t do that with kids. They always want to go do something. You put on one of the kids favorite movies and sat down, both of them on one side of you. 30 minutes into the movie, Iris fell asleep. You were laughing at a scene when your phone dinged, it’s Bucky.
“Hey, what are you doing this weekend?”
You got up and went into the other room to call him. “Hey, what’s up?”
“Hi, sorry I’m calling so late. I bought some tickets to an amusement park.”
“You did what?” You were honestly shocked, Bucky spent money on the kids?
“I bought 5 tickets to the amusement park an hour away, I didn’t know if I should get a two day pass or just one day. I did one just in case.” He repeated, you could hear his smile as he spoke.
“Wow, that's really nice of you, but Steve is busy for the weekend so it’ll just be the 4 of us. The kids will be so excited.”
“Should I come to your house tomorrow at 9am and we leave by 10am?”
‘Sounds good, I’ll see you tomorrow James.”
You quickly explained to Canan that he needed to go to bed, without telling him the plans for tomorrow, and you carried Iris up to her bed, tucking them both in. You got settled in your room and stared at your phone, wondering if you should tell Steve or just leave it alone. Ultimately, you decided to leave it alone, if he asks, you’ll tell him. You took a quick shower and got into bed, dozing off soon after.
The next day, Saturday
You woke up around 8 so you could get ready for the day. You packed sunscreen, snacks, extra clothes, swimsuits and every other thing you could think to pack for the kids. Soon after you finished stuffing a backpack, you cooked breakfast and made the kids plates. Right when you wiped your hands on a towel, your doorbell rang. You looked at your phone, hoping you’re not running late, 9:00am, your phone read. It was Bucky, right on time. You invited him in and told him you had to go wake up Iris and Canan.
You woke up Iris and Canan, getting them downstairs so they could eat. They both said hi to Bucky before sitting down to eat. While they were eating, you finished packing which caught Bucky’s eye, “I know a mother thinks about her kids first, but I think you’re missing stuff for yourself in here.” You smile at his words, remembering that yeah, you do need to pack some stuff for yourself.
After you were packed, you decided that taking your car would be the best option, but he offered to drive. So you brought the bags to the car and then put the kids in the car. Bucky buckled in Iris, while you did Canan.
“Mom, is Uncle Steve coming?” Canan asked as you finished buckling him up.
“No, he has to work today, I wish he could’ve come but his schedule is really busy this weekend.”
Canan and Iris were both a little upset that Steve wasn’t coming, which was to be expected. Steve always came when you would go do some really fun stuff. He was usually the one that suggested it.
“Mommy? Where are we going?” Iris questioned as she looked out the window.
“Somewhere fun, Mister James paid for it, we’ll be there soon.”
Upon arriving, you and Bucky got the kids out and bags out of the car and headed to the entrance. Iris and Canan stared at the entrance as they realized where they were, their excited screams filled the air as they ran.
Since they were so young and couldn’t ride on really big roller coasters, you all stayed in kiddie land most of the day. Where they insisted on riding the same roller coasters every 30 minutes.
Bucky took Iris and Canan on a spinning mini coaster, you definitely weren’t stepping anywhere near that, knowing that would be a mistake. So you sat at a bench under a tree and watched them. You hadn’t looked at your phone for a couple hours, which made Steve send you a bunch of messages and calls.
Hey
(y/n)?
Hello?
I stopped by the house, your car is gone?
Call me?
5 missed calls
Steve
You groaned as you realized you would have to tell him where you are. Work must’ve let him go early. To get it over with you decided to call him, “hey Steve.”
“Hey, you're not at home.” He said more as a statement than a question.
“I’m not, Bucky had bought tickets to an amusement park, so we’re there right now.”
“Oh.” he says, before going completely silent.
“Yeah, we should be home before dinner time, should I call you and meet us at home for dinner?”
“I’ll see, I think that's Fury calling me, I have to go, bye.” Without letting you say anything he hung up.
Bucky and the kids got off the ride just as you were putting your phone away, “mommy was that Uncle Steve?” Iris asked, hoping she’d see him today.
“Yes, it was, I invited him to dinner with us, but I'm not sure if he can make it.”
“Well I hope he can make it.” Bucky said, with no malicious intent, which definitely stood out to you, “Should we pick up some food from somewhere? I’m buying.”
“You don’t have to, the amusement park was plenty, especially since you bought them anything they wanted, I’m going to have to find space for all of the toys you bought.” You explained.
‘I don’t mind.”
As the day got hotter the 4 of you made your way to the waterpark part of the amusement park. Spending a couple hours there, Iris and Canan did not want to leave the lazy River, but to their disappointment it was getting late and they were growing tired. The sun was setting as you dressed the kids. So you had no choice but to leave. So Bucky picked them both up and carried them to the car, while you carried the bags and toys Bucky bought the kids.
Bucky drove back home, dropping off you and the kids before going to get the food. You got the kids out of the car and took them inside where you were greeted by Steve. Who invited himself in.
“Oh kids look, it's Uncle Steve.”
Your kids ran over to Steve and hugged him before rambling on about their day with you and Bucky. To your surprise, Iris started warming up to Bucky, you noticed as she told Steve about her day and was happy when she brought Bucky up. You sat down at the dining table and watched your kids, a smile gracing your lips. After a few minutes the kids were done talking and wanted to play with their new toys. Steve came into the kitchen and sat at the dining table with you.
“They had a lot of fun today.” He said in the most monotone voice.
“They did, they got a lot of toys and rode roller coasters.” You smiled as you started unpacking the bags, you were happy they had a good day out.
‘Where’s Bucky?”
“He went to get dinner, I told him what you wanted, he’s bringing you something.”
“Let me guess, he’s buying?”
“Is that a problem Steve?” You questioned as you stared at Steve, wondering what his problem is now. “You can’t just let him do something nice without picking him apart?”
Steve came closer and in a low whisper he said, “It doesn’t seem strange to you that he comes back after 4 years and has a lot more money than he did before, doing the same job?”
He has a good point, you thought. “Steve, what are you suggesting? He’s a scammer? A criminal?”
“He's in a relationship.”
His response honestly confused you. Okay? So he’s in a relationship, good for him. “And? There's nothing wrong with that.” You were honestly so lost, what was Steve getting at? What was he trying to prove?
“His newest girlfriend didn’t come in the picture until around a few months ago.”
That’s when it clicked. 6 months ago was when Bucky knocked on your door for the first time in 4 years. ”Steve, where are you getting this information from?” Without wasting a second Steve slides a manila folder with the words “Classified” on the front, on the table towards you. You open it to see pictures of a brown haired woman, and everything possibly known about her. You look at some of the pictures and you see one with Bucky and the woman.
“So you think the girlfriend has something to do with why he came back? Not just because of the kids?” You quietly spoke as you glanced at the file.
“I do, yes. Men like him don’t change like this, and this is probably where all that money is coming from.”
You quickly closed the manila folder and slid the folder back to him, “please just put it away.”
“(y/n), I’m sorry.”
“ I don’t want you to bring this up tonight.”
“But-.”
“No, I want the kids to have a good day, okay?” Steve just nods and puts away the folder so it’s out of view.
A few minutes later, Bucky finally arrived with the food, interrupting Steve and his theory. You let him inside and Bucky quickly passed out everyone’s food.
“Okay you two, make sure you thank Mister James. He took us to the amusement park and bought us dinner.”
“Just James, if that's okay.” Bucky interrupts with a big smile on his face. You nodded as the kids hugged him and thanked him.
Canan sat next to Steve, Iris sat next to you and Bucky sat at the head of the table. The kids ate and then wanted to go play, so you let them play in the living room while the adults stayed in the kitchen. Bucky got up and threw away his trash while you glanced at Steve, his expression unreadable.
“Bucky, can I ask you something?” You questioned, using his nickname and not his first name. A change you thought was needed, to see if he would be honest.
“Everything okay (y/n)?”
“Yeah, can you sit down, I have a question.” You requested, hoping he’d listen. Bucky sat down in his seat after that, he was confused to say the least, “(y/n), is something wrong?”
“Is she the reason you’re here and not because of the kids?” You spoke in a low but serious tone.
“What?”
“Is she the reason you’re here?” You asked again, Bucky stared at you, confused on what you mean. You turned over to Steve and he handed you the folder. Taking out the picture of him and the woman, you slid it over to him, “I’ll ask again, is she the reason you’re here?”
Bucky gulps, knowing that his response can make or break everything. “It's not that simple (y/n).” Steve was getting irritated, you could tell by the way he kept looking at you, waiting for you to let him say something.
“Answer me, yes or no, Bucky. I’m not playing games with you.”
“I’m not playing a game either, I want to be here, I want to see them, I love them.”
You’re conflicted. Is he being truthful? Is it not that simple? Or is he lying? Lying like the liar he’s always been. “Yes or no.”
“Yes.”
