Night Theater

There is a pond out behind the house

that sits still at night like a black mirror

rough-edged beneath a silver moon.

Even the frog that haunts its nooks

and crannies spends most of his hours

in perfectly-still contemplation.

Staring at the Buddha who sits opposite,

stone-faced, who forever regards the sculpted

pine tree contorted on the bank across.

A three-way standoff of absolute stillness:

frog—statue—tree

with the moon as lighting director.

Every evening, unmoving, unless the wind

enters stage West. Then, at least the tree,

flamboyant as ever, may take a slight bow.

Modern AU Micah

Damn, as soon as I saw this post, I immediately imagined Micah:D Thanks to @yeehaw-squid Let me share some of my HC about him from Modern AU.

Micah lives in a trailer, on his section a lot of scrap metal and motorcycle spare parts.

He also has his favorite motorcycle, the Honda CB450.

He is the kind of dude who doesn't believe in God, but he has a whole shelf of all sorts of figurines and amulets supposedly "attracting money", like Feng Shui Money Frog, Maneki-neko, a small statue of Buddha, etc.

He also collects comics, vinyl records and superhero figurines, but nobody knows about it.

He almost never watches TV, because the antenna is always broken and he is already tired of fixing it.

In the mornings he wakes up in his trailer, puts on a torn robe, slippers, shuffles to the refrigerator, scratching his ass. He takes a can of beer and goes outside, where a folding, striped armchair, with holes from cigarette ash, is waiting for him. He is stretching, sitting down, smoking lazily. Thinks a little and is like "you need to stir up a barbecue, man"

Sometimes in the evenings he gathers in a local bar with his old mates, Cleet and Joe, with whom he then goes either to beat someone in the face or try to rob some store.

When the mood is right, he feeds a stray cat that comes to his property while he fixes his Honda. Sometimes he kicks her out if she gets impudent. But he always worries when she disappears for a long time.

Happily Birthday

the Buddha balloon belly is the wish I blew out on my birthday with greasy hair long and brown sitting at the dining room table on a rainy day in flower blooming May

two turtles a few frogs with candles in their mouths and a brick colored penguin on my ten toes painted by a loved one on a bored Thursday morning when sex became obvious and downright clipped wings in the sack

so, my pets are injured and hungry wishing for popcorn snacks and the grass is really making the moves on me as the cigarettes have all been blown out stubbed and snubbed out

so go tend to your children call yourself a mother or sister or my uncle who used to love me but she (say it with me now) died

the first punk rock song was all country and I tried to explain that to her with construction cones substituting for ears and her butts are all wrecked fired and black like a microwaved blue bird who chirped when she should have cheeped

the dumb feathered bitch, she never really did understand me

misfortune cries in happy families a bunch of like minded humans who credit charge their futures away with fancy playing cards (full house…solitaire…jokers wild) and sawbucks that pass as tools in the garage full of rusty nails and a miscarried baby who really had it better off that you and I

so let this song be tuned up and prepared for flight this fancy squiggle is just another poem in a land of shaking skin houses and look at him with those long ears with a tail between his shaven legs

MileApo’s Man Suang.

They have finally given it a name, Man Suang, which means the city of gods and angels. Hey I wasn’t that far with my assumptions.

Well, I would avoid living in any city with that name, history taught me that. They say it’s a place of entertainment for upper-class people. Hmmmm….. entertainment for the upper classes can go from listening to music, dance, reading to…. Prostitution, so let’s see.

Man Suang is inspired/from the Lilit Phra Lo. Lilit Phra Lo is a masterpiece of the Siamese literature. A Lilit is a type of long poem, which talks about love, tragedies and has a particular structure in terms of verses, rhymes, etc. They say it’s from the 17th century. However it may be older than that because many scrolls and books were burned when the Burmese took Ayutthaya (old capital of Siam) and burned the city to melt the golden statues of Buddha in the various temples … (Yes, I know).

What is Lilit Phra Lo about? A love story, of course, and one of a kind, it’s about magic, hermit’s, enemies and a….. Threesome. Yep, you read it right. Two rival cities fight, the kings die and their heir take the throne. Now Phra Lo new king of Muang Swang falls in love with two princesses from Muang Song (the rival city) Phra Phuan and Phra Phaeng. They have never met, but they love each other, how? Through the poems, songs written about them, their beauty, etc., they have heard. How does it end? I don’t want to spoil if you want to read it…. It’s a Greek tragedy with a Romeo and Juliet(s) vibe and twits.

Now back to MileApo’s Man Suang (that’s my official name for the movie, sue me). I wonder what they will take from Lilit Phra Lo, the impossible love story, the hermits, the magic? Will it be about power? Upper class and lower class?

They changed the plot and the released date? They are brave. August is in 7 months, it may seem long, but it isn’t, time flies and MileApo have various engagements coming. I hope they rest but those two works like they are running out of time.

Mile is a hard worker so no doubt he will nail Chat’s role. I’m so glad for Apo because, Khem is his dream role and he will put his blood, sweat and tears in this work.

Portraying a man from this period must be exhilarating, in a time where above all among the upper class, one couldn’t be themselves, showing the wrong emotion could get one in trouble. There was less freedom. It’s interesting what we take for granted now couldn’t even be fathomed then. Everyone was wearing a mask, playing a role, in a stage they perhaps didn’t set.

And it was only when they left the stage that they could be themselves. However not for long, soon it was time to put the make-up and the costume back to play roles they hadn’t chosen.

I’m looking forward to this movie, it has many thing I like and enjoy, history, costumes, traditions, patrimony, exploration of human nature and, of course, MileApo.

PS: We shouldn’t trust the trailer, lol. I don’t trust anything BOC says or show until I have the final product. For all we know, it could be about time travel or talking frogs.

ok so the thing is like. in showa rider broadly and especially in kr 1971, "kamen rider" as a character is supposed to be a larger-than-life symbol of heroism and justice. in heisei and so one we're more used to the kamen rider being just a guy, who has to go through tribulations of heroism but is still a guy like us, but showa rider has more of the like... yknow even if there is no god or buddha thing going on. SO that being said. i feel like hongo as a character embodies that sort of thing more like when i look at hongo i'm like oh yes that is very much The Guy who is Kamen Rider The Hero Of Justice. whereas ichimonji by comparison is not so much that. i mean all of the post-hongo showa riders have a general aura of heroism to their personality, but there's a difference where, when i see The Great Hero Kamen Rider and think "hongo is in there" i'm like ah yes, like a frog on a lily pad, just where he should be, whereas when i see The Great Hero Kamen Rider and think "ichimonji is in there" i'm like... huh! yeah i guess he is! like there's a bit more of a personality mismatch in there. since he doesn't take things as seriously and stuff

which i think is like, arguably a result of hongo being written for the role of the great hero, whereas ichimonji was added in later and presumably they wanted to give him a contrasting vibe to shake things up or it was just the best fit for sasaki's acting style or something, idk, something doylist like that. BUT!!! and my final point i'm driving at here is. i personally have not watched enough of rider 71 to confirm this but i've seen my mutuals who have talk about how ichimonji is implied to have something of an inferiority complex regarding having to fill hongo's shoes and not being able to do it as well as him, so it's like, man, that kind of fits doesn't it... he just doesn't have the kamen rider gravitas in his personality and he's conscious of it.... poor guy

I know this ain't twst related but who's your favorite record of ragnarok character? For me it's Adam

Oooohh ok this is hard. I don't think I have a definitive fav character. Which is weird because I usually play favs. But I think it's a testament to the author's ability to create a diverse range of likeable characters. So far here are my categories of favs

Best entrance: Qin Shi Huang

most shocking design: Buddha ( legit not what I was expecting I spit my milk when he showed up)

Best fight: Hercules v Jack

Best ship: Qin Shi Huang and Hades ( I saw this one before reading the fight and initially thought it was a crack ship. But damm... They got chemistry)

Best volundr: tie between Jack and Hlökk and Qin Shi Huang and Alvitrr and Raiden and thurd. I like them all for different reasons

Fav god: Zerofuku ( fuck you Beelzebub you took a perfectly nice god and gave him a parasitic demon. Fuck you my boi deserved to be happy with Buddha as besties) and Shiva ( I swear I cried watching his flashbacks also he has four arms and looks like he gives the best hugs )

Fav non combatant: ares and brunhilde

best dad: Adam 💕💕💕

Best einherjar: Kyojiro (his smile after his fight with poseidon made me believe in humanity) and Raiden (gone too soon rip king)
