The family of Siddhartha (Buddha)

Ananda - Cousin, the primary attendant and one of the Ten Principal Disciples

Ananda was one of the ten great disciples of the Buddha and was known as the Treasurer of the Dhamma (the one who heard the most) because, as the Buddha's primary attendant, he was always close by to hear his teachings. He is known for his memory, erudition and compassion, and is often praised by the Buddha for these matters. He functions as a foil to the Buddha, however, in that he still has worldly attachments and is not yet attained the Abhijna (the six divine powers: Ref), as opposed to the Buddha.

Ananda was born on the night of the Buddha's attainment. When his father, King Dronodhana, sent a messenger to King Suddhodana (Ref2), the father of Buddha, to inform him of Ananda's birth, King Suddhodana was extremely happy and all the country rejoiced at the birth of the prince, and was named 'Ananda (Bliss)'.

He is generally said to be a cousin of Buddha, and the younger brother of Devadatta (Ref3) who is depicted in various Buddhist scriptures as an evil person who defied the Buddha and his teachings.

When Buddha was 55 years old and Ananda was 25, he too, together with Anuruddha and other princes, went to Buddha and became a disciple of the Buddha.

According to the Chinese Buddhacarita Sangraha (Lalitavistara Sūtra, Buddha's biography translated by Jnanagupta of the Sui Dynasty), Ananda and Devadatta did not obtain permission from the Buddha, when they were ordained.

Two brothers were ordained by the elder Purna Maitrayiputra at the foot of Snow Mountain in the Himalayas, received the Gusoku precepts (to be observed by ordained practitioners in Buddhism), and with the master's permission became Buddha's disciples.

After the ordination, Ananda became the attendant of the Buddha, when the Buddha selected him for this task. Ananda performed his duties with great devotion and care, and acted as an intermediary between the Buddha and the laypeople, as well as the sangha (Sanskrit: samgha, lit. 'monastic community'). He accompanied the Buddha for the rest of his life, acting not only as an assistant, but also a secretary and a mouthpiece.

一般的には釈迦の従弟で、様々な仏典に釈迦とその教団に違背した悪人として描かれている提婆達多 (だいばだった、梵, 巴: デーヴァダッタ, 参照3)の弟と言われる。

『仏本行集経 (隋の闍那崛多 (じゃなくった)の訳した仏の伝記』によると、出家する時にブッダから許しを得ず、阿難と提婆達多の2人だけは、雪山 (ヒマラヤ)のふもとの長老、富楼那弥多羅尼子 (ふるなみたらにし、梵:プールナ・マイトラーヤニープトラ)に就いて出家し、具足戒(ぐそくかい)を受け、師の許しを得てブッダの弟子となったとされる。

ブッダが55歳、アーナンダが25歳の時、彼も阿那律（アヌルッダ）などの諸王子と共にブッダの元に赴き仏弟子となった。

出家後、釈迦が死ぬまで25年間常に近侍し、身の回りの世話も行っていた。仏典ではブッダが彼を選んで侍者となり、この仕事をするようになる。アーナンダは献身的かつ丁寧に職務を遂行し、ブッダと一般人、サーガ（僧院）の仲介役を務める ブッダに一生付き添い、助手だけでなく、秘書、口利き役としても活躍する。

Familial Yandere! Adam

It doesn’t really matter if you’re adopted or if you’re his and Eve’s biological kid, you are his daughter and absolutely nothing will change that. 

He’s always been protective of his family in general and since Adam knows how dangerous this world could be for little girls like you, he vowed a long time ago that he would do everything he could to protect you.

He focused so much of his time and thoughts on keeping you safe, chasing off any boys/girls/etc. who showed any romantic interest in you, and always kept close to you (even if you don’t always realize it). Yet, it never occurred to him that someday there would be a time when you wouldn’t be a little girl anymore.

And he sometimes has a hard time grasping that fact.

Your distance starts out as natural behavior for a growing child, wanting to be with your friends more and branching out away from your parents, and instead of being an encouraging parent, Adam will resort to manipulation tactics. Mostly trying to guilt you into spending more time with him.

Aw, you wanted to skip Daddy-Daughter day because of a friend’s birthday? Alright, it’s just…he was really looking forward to it. Do you want more freedom to hang out with your friends more often? He supposes that he just worries about you, little one, and if something happened to you and your friends couldn’t protect you then Adam wouldn’t know what he’d do.

It works for a little while too, after all, he’s just being a concerned dad but then when your friends, who haven’t been chased away by your father, start to let you know that this isn’t normal behavior for a parent then you become a bit more distant and a bit more defiant.

When you confront Adam, he just comes up with the excuse that he’s doing what was best for you (because he genuinely believes that’s what he’s doing) and that you don’t know what could happen to you in the big scary world by yourself.

Adam is very protective of his family members and is willing to do whatever it takes to protect them. So he will lock you inside of the house and it really doesn’t help that the rest of the family would be platonic yandere as well, meaning that they believe that this is what’s best for you.

When you cry out of frustration about your freedom and life being taken away, Eve and Adam will hug you and rub your back patiently, as if calming and treating you like a toddler who was throwing a tantrum rather than a girl who had a right to be mad at the betrayal of her parents who thought it would be best to keep her their prisoner.

Familial Yandere! Buddha:

Buddha found you when he was visiting one of his temples and you had been abandoned in front of it, perhaps it would’ve been best to let the people who take care of that temple take you in, but there was something about you that Buddha couldn’t turn away from.

Picking you up in his arms, you were simply too precious for this world. Too innocent in his eyes. He felt a growing desire to protect you as he took you back to his home in the heavens to raise you as his own.

Your childhood was somewhat normal, you were well-educated and Buddha made sure that you were well taken care of and happy. However, there was much backlash from other gods who looked down on Buddha for adopting a human child but mostly, they looked down on you for being born a human.

Buddha tried to reassure you that despite this, you were his daughter. While you appreciated his encouraging words, it could not stop the feeling that you didn’t belong in heaven with other deities, and that you were honestly curious to visit the human world you were born in.

Buddha’s yandere tendencies do not start until he realizes that you want to leave. He becomes paranoid when you start asking questions about the mortal world, about if he had any idea who your true parent could be, or if he could help you in perhaps locating them.

“Perhaps I could but I don’t see the point in doing so. If they didn’t want you then, why would they want you now?” He snapped when you brought the subject up again. When you teared up at his words, he instantly felt remorse and pulled you into a hug, comforting you and apologizing for his harsh words.

He thought that’d be the end of it, while his words were harsh, he had hoped that perhaps you at least took them to heart and dropped the desire to go to Earth. To leave the safe and comfortable life he had created for you.

But you’d started shutting yourself in your room more, being more secretive, and trying to change the subject when Buddha asked what you could possibly be doing up there all day; he decided to look for himself and was horrified when he saw you were doing your own research to get to the human world.

He confronts you about it and it results in an argument, about how he was being ridiculous for thinking he can keep you up here when you belonged to humanity and he disregarded your feelings of you not feeling like you belonged. He’d argue that while he’d protect humanity, the world below was dangerous and that you were safer up here.

It eventually escalated to him using his powers to put you in a form of forced mediation, picking you up and setting you under a bodhi tree that he made sure was heavily guarded and safe. Either you sit and think about your actions and reach Nirvana like him and become a God, no longer being able to live amongst humans like you wanted to, or you stay preserved forever (with the help of magic) under the tree. Safe and close to him.

 He regrets not letting you live amongst humans because he knows what he’s done is wrong but when he lays next to you for a nap and lets you lay on him like you had done once you were little, he can’t deny the happiness and satisfaction he feels knowing that no harm will come to you. His beloved daughter.

It’s tempting to think of Jillian as an atheist given her connexion to science, her confrontation with the church in s1 and simply as a counterpoint to all the religious characters around her. I’ve used the word for her myself in fic before, but I did it fully knowing that Jillian is perhaps the character who most wants to believe.

There’s an implication that she speaks from experience when she tells Kristian one doesn’t ever really leave the church…

… And her firm principle of proving faith and science can coexist shows she has no intention of dismantling faith in itself or the value people find in spirituality.

When Luther supposedly nailed his objections to that fateful church door, he didn't intend to shake the core of what faith actually is—quite the contrary, one could argue.

Neither is Jillian trying to destabilise faith in itself... The difference is that she just decided to build her own door instead.

The church might stand in her way, yes, but one could could make a case about how it is more due to their keeping of divinium than to the criticism she directs at Vincent on the subject of Hell and the subjugation of women. She might well believe it—or any part of her performance during most of season one, really—but her conflict with the institution lies less in the way of ideology than in matters of practical consequences.

Were it not so, wouldn’t she have been a little more resistant to her son’s visions of an angel? Why believe in a child’s prophetic drawings otherwise? Even if she by any chance didn’t consider the giver of those visions an angel, the very fact of taking a vision seriously would suggest some degree of fidelity to the very idea of there being something more, something else than the life we know in this plane of existence.

If she doesn’t admit the existence of a god outright, she at least lends credence to the idea that there is something. We might not be able to take her fully at her word in the scenes where she’s playing her part as a seeker of knowledge maligned by the Vatican, but there is some amount of truth to what she says. She might not have truly found Heaven, she might not be able to prove her portal actually leads there...

… But she most certainly wants to be right. For Michael’s sake, there must be something else, even if not precisely what has been foreseen by scripture.

And, even so, she finds worth in that very scripture she doubts.

Perhaps she’s being honest when she tells Vincent she likes the stories—there’s a lot of knowledge to be found in even the simplest of them to she who knows how to seek it.

Perhaps there’s an underlying attachment of hers to the Bible, a past she cannot really abandon. It’s not all that common for people with absolutely no ties to Catholicism to have something like the image of a saint as decoration hanging in the background.

Sure, there are other religious elements scattered in her workplace including a Buddha, but it’s a man who used to be an archivist at the Vatican she hires, not a defected monk or rabbi.

Yes, she will work with anyone who is equally willing to work with her. It’s not from the goodness of her heart as there is a component of selfishness in such cooperation—one to which she admits herself—but her attitude is also a testament to the openness she has concerning the results she might obtain. Maybe the OCS is right, maybe there’s a God and saints and Heaven and Hell…

It doesn’t really matter as long as there is something, something to work towards, something to seek.

Or it didn’t matter—while Michael was alive.

She has had her proof of there being more... And she has paid a high price for learning of it.

It’s a pity we don’t know what she would have done with this information. How do we react when what we believe is confirmed to be true but not in the way we expected or desired?

Whatever shock the nuns have experienced to their faith in this business with Adriel, the perversion of the power of prayer and all else they've survived during season two, Jillian is likely to have felt the very same blow right alongside them.

For those who don't know, I tend to write scenes and chapters out of order, which is why some chapters come out sooner than others ^^;

ANYWAYS the premise of this is, Reigen and his dad having a conversation.

“They’re finding new ways to sell and profit off others, just click a button and the place you paid to leave grandma will glow! Think of her, and the LED light we placed under a translucent little plastic Buddha statue.” “I can’t say I approve of how impersonal that feels, but there is a growing issue in finding space for plots. And not everyone can afford a family shrine. Giving the grieving meaningful tasks helps the mourner, opening grief to a path towards healing.” “It’s business, it’s aaaall business, I know, I get that - I just. Why does it have to be so business driven? …I’m tired.” “I know…I know you are. It’s been recession after recession for younger generations.” “A lot of times you know what the real ghost in the room is? Back at my office I mean.” “No…what?” “Capitalism.Little old ladies, or people who can't afford plumbers, or handy men, or have someone check for a gas leak.” "Yet they pay you." "Yeah," he said bitterly, "they pay me." "Are you suggesting you shouldn't be paid for your work? That I shouldn't be paid?" "No…I just…" "Do you know what would happen if I didn't do my job? If people were left to their own devices in dealing with bodies? Between black markets and inappropriately attended bodies?" "Disease," said Reigen, having heard this speech since he could remember. Then, Reigen Senior changed something in his speech, "and what would happen if you didn't do your job?" Reigen shrugged, sitting in his sulk. "I imagine a lot of old ladies and people who can't afford plumbers or handy men end up having a lot of trouble as well." Reigen looked at his father.

Will I end up using this scene after cleaning it up etc? I have no idea. But remember kids, the real entity of horror, is always capitalism.
