Eddie huffs, ducking his head like he’s embarrassed. When he looks back up, he keeps his eyes on the rocky landscape in front of them rather than meeting Buck’s gaze. Sweat drops are slowly trailing down his temple, glistening in the moonlight. And when he speaks, his voice is barely more than a whisper, vulnerable in its honesty.
“You… You draw out the wolf in me. The part of me that’s been buried for so long, and I—” He lets out a shaky breath. “I feel... good, when I’m with you. Like I can finally be all of me.”

So Buddie question, if you don’t mind. I don’t watch the show but I see it everywhere being live tweeted/live blogged and it’s peaked my interest.
I was around and stuck around for 8 years of spn queer bait (I mean yes and no it was) and I was ok with everything but the ending. Also I didn’t see it as really shippable until the later seasons.
Do you think Buddie is a queer bait? In the ~not in a million years, it’ll never happen, it’s just to pull in the gays sort of way.
Do you think Buddie is really just up for interpretation and if you squint you can kinda see it or completely intentional and potential endgame?
I don't think it was ever queerbait in the beginning, but not sure if that's changed based on fan response because love for these two characters individually and together is strong.
Eddie joined the second season as a hotshot former military (combat wounded and awarded) medic turned firefighter. Buck bristled at a new guy coming in and they initially butted heads but connected before the end of the first episode.
Their friendship and connection was very strong from the beginning but quickly evolved into something so much deeper when Eddie introduced his son Chris who has MS. Eddie had trouble finding care for him so Buck pulled out all the stops arranging things to get permission to bring Chris to the station to setting him up with a home healthcare nurse from from a previous season.
Even off work, it's clear they spend a lot of time together and Buck becomes a big part of Chris' life.
I'll avoid big spoilers but something major happens in the beginning of the next (third) season and this happens. Even though he has other family, he would choose Buck over anyone.
Eddie has a VERY tough time in the middle of the season when (redacted for spoilers lol) and they had their first big fight and Eddie was mad because he and Chris needed Buck but they couldn't call him.
Then this is whole ass scene when they were making up after the fight had everyone in flames lol. Gifs can't do it justice but here's just two. I don't think this was written in a queerbait context but the chemistry of the characters & actors is off the charts.
There wasn't much Buddie content in the last season and they threw in bits of hetero filler imo (but still bits and pieces of course) but the second to last episode changed everything. Big spoiler but they frame this shot with both of them in it and then Eddie is shot and the blood splatters on Buck. (I didn't gif it but I can find some for you if you're curious) Then you feel the full weight/shock of Eddie being hurt but also Buck thinking that Eddie is dying in front of him. They don't take their eyes off each other and it's so intimate and something you would expect in a romantic storyline. Eddie is okay but Buck loses it and tells Eddie he wishes he would die instead because it would have been better. Eddie is obviously heart-broken to hear this and reveals to Buck that he had changed his will a year ago for Buck to take custody of Chris. So, you ARE needed. We need you.
Then this season both have gfs, but Eddie is not doing well/struggling with it so everyone hyping up a break-up and eventual BUDDIE realization but I don't think it'll be that easy lol.
