Giles x teen!reader - the family you need

Part 12:

Trudging through the snow, you used your hand to cover your eyes, blocking out the rising sun as you looked at the mountain peak that was nearby.

You had spent the last two days climbing it, you had fallen, slipped, been trapped in a storm, but you had made it despite everything that was thrown at you.

And you slowly walked the rest of the way before dropping to your knees at the top, looking as the morning fog rolled over the lower mountain.

“I was half expecting you to die on the way up, I have to say I’m rather impressed.” A deep voice spoke.

You looked around, seeing a tall demon stood behind you, four horns on his head, sharp teeth, claws scraping at a branch in his hands.

“I wasn’t expecting you to come, given the fact there are exorcists on a warpath for you.”

You pushed yourself up, taking a deep breath.

“The fact I was plagued by restless dreams that kept telling me to come here sort of makes me think that I had no choice.”

He hummed a little, putting the stick in the snow.

“I assume you’re the one I need to see?”

“That depends.”

“On what?”

The demon slowly sat down in the snow, and you did the same thing, placing your hands on your knees.

“You need to be sure that you want to be here, because if I agree to train you then it won’t be easy, it will be hard, you’ll want to back out and not be able to. You will be here for a long time.”

“If it helps me then I’ll accept that.”

“Even if it means leaving your life behind? Leaving everybody back in that town wondering if you’re dead?”

You gave a nod of your head.

“I’m not strong enough to take whatever is coming, I can barely control a small fraction of my power, I need to learn how, and if you’re the flame demon I’ve been sent to find then you’re the only one who can help me.”

“I am him, I am Jonah, that is my human name anyhow, my demon name has been long lost even to myself.”

“Then will you train me Jonah? Please.”

“Yes, I will. I made a deal with your father, the human father, when he adopted you, when the time was right I would train you.”

“Why?”

“Because he agreed that I would be freed from the curse that binds me to this mountain, that I would be able to finally go.”

You looked down.

“My dad is dead…”

“You can do it, he wasn’t going to break the curse. He was going to kill me. I will pass my knowledge down to you, then you will kill me.”

You looked up at Jonah.

“Do we have a deal?”

“Yes.”

“Very well, follow me. You’ll rest for the day, and we will start tomorrow.”

You got up, following him down a small path into a cave that was just below the mountain peak.

You needed to do what you had to do in order to get stronger, you needed to get stronger if you wanted to protect the things that you loved.

Giles took the glass ball where ever he went, setting it up in a spot where he would be able to see it, waiting for that blue flame so he knew you were okay.

But even as the weeks slipped past, it was yet to do anything, yet to show that you were in fact alive and well.

“Anything yet?” Buffy asked.

Giles looked into the library, and he shook his head.

“No. Are the exorcists still around?”

“No, they left last night. They couldn’t find (Y/N), so they’re moving on to the next hellmouth.” Xander said.

“How do you know that?” Giles asked.

“We saw them in the bronze, and overheard them talking about it.” Willow replied.

Giles nodded his head, watching as they all sat down.

“I’m sure they’re okay, I.. I mean they have to be.. right?”

“I have no doubt they’re okay.” Giles replied.

Willow nodded, but she didn’t seem so convinced, none of them seemed convinced about it.

They had tried to find where you would go, but there was no mention of the demon you were with anywhere, or where you would go.

“We’ll keep searching.” Buffy said.

You were thrown back into the snow, and you groaned a little, rubbing your head as you sat up, looking at Jonah.

His flames were a haunting black, and you picked up your sword again.

“You cannot harness your flames until you master the art of swordsmanship, you are a rather fast learner, I suspect you’ll have it down in no time.”

“I know how to use a sword.”

“Yes, as a human. You need to remember that you’re not a human. You have demon DNA, make use of this (Y/N), this DNA gives you strength, speed, things you can use.”

“Don’t I need my powers to do that properly?”

“No, you don’t need your powers, it’s part of you, you just need to embrace it.”

You nodded, and returned your sword to your arm, and he walked over.

“I am a full bloodied demon, you however are still stronger and faster than I am. You come directly from the highest ranking of demons, the demon of all demons, this makes you a force to be reckoned with.”

Jonah walked over, standing in front of you, his towering form looming over you.

“You are the key, for both sides. You are the key to opening the gate, you are the key to destroying the portal so that he can never return.”

“In order to do that they have to kill me.”

Jonah shook his head.

“No, they just want to kill you so you’re out of the way. You can open them and destroy them without dying, the reason why your blood never worked is because you were in your human form. Human form, human blood. Demon form, demon blood.”

“That’s right, every time they did it they had these chains restricting my powers, meaning I couldn’t use them.”

Jonah smiled.

“Exactly, therefore they couldn’t open them.”

You nodded your head.

“I will tell you more about this when you’re ready, for now, you must train while you have the time.”

“Then what’s next.”

Training was brutal, you never liked it all that much, but with the flame demon it was a lot harder.

You were always covered in bruises and cuts, getting knocked over time and time again, but you kept getting up.

The weeks turned to months, and you had honed your skills beyond your own thought, you were beyond fast, and stronger.

Running up the mountain, you jumped over the obstacles placed in your way.

Ducking under a falling tree, you turned to the right, dodging a knife that was thrown at you.

“You’re definitely better.”

You caught another blade between your hands, throwing it back, just narrowly missing Jonah.

You kept running, jumping into the trees, going from branch to branch.

You jumped back down, jumped over a frozen stream, and you came to a halt at the top of the mountain.

Jonah stood in front of you.

“You’re getting better, you can give me a run for my money.”

You grinned a little bit.

“Thanks.”

Jonah chuckled, and you both overlooked the setting sun, his flames covered him, and he looked at you, giving you a nod of your head.

“Now we move on to the real training.”

You took a breath, letting your flames out, and you went back to watching the setting sun with him.

Your flames were warm compared to cold air up there, and some of the snow around you began to melt.

“You’re not even using 10% of your flames.”

“It’s all I can handle without you know going all demon.”

He nodded his head.

“You need to focus, have a clear mind. The demon relies on anger, hate, that’s what fuels it, allows it to take over. You, on the other hand can use all the other emotions to stay in control, but your mind was clear.”

“Is that why you meditate so much?”

“Yes.”

Jonah walked over and sat down, so you copied him.

Meditation become your next training, sitting in the slow for days on end, now moving, keeping your powers for as long as you can before the went out on their own.

Slowly you were getting better, and you could hold them for longer.

You would sit in your mind, focusing on staying level headed.

Jonah would do whatever he could to distract you, make you angry.

He would make threats, he would remind you you were a demon, he would throw things at you, attempt to attack you, pull your tail.

At first you would respond to them all in anger, attempting to attack him, and slowly you begin to ignore him.

While he did research in old demon scrolls, or simply wondered about, you sat there there, a thin layer of snow covering your body only to be melted by the demon flames.

Jonah smiled, and he sat down in front of you.

“You’re at half your power…”

You opened your eyes, a flame sparking in your iris before it faded.

“It’s a lot easier now, a lot more comfortable, and it doesn’t hurt.”

“Can you light to this flower without burning it?”

You looked at the flame, and it burst into flames, but it didn’t turn to ash like all the others had done, it kept its shape and colour.

“Yes, all you need to do is remember these are your flames, nobody else’s.”

You have a nod of your head.

“Do you think he’s seen it..?” You asked quietly.

Jonah held up the glass ball, and you saw there was no flame.

“When he gave you the brace to protect you, he accidentally protected yourself from revealing your flames in all senses. I had a friend retrieve this for me just now.”

Johan placed his hands over it, whispering something, and he opened his hands to show a soft blue flame in the centre.

“His sigil countered your own.”

Jonah held the ball out and a shadow figure took it, vanishing back into the trees.

“He’s been guarding it well, I had to wait for him to leave it before I could take it, and ensure your control of your flames was enough so that when I removed the counter sigil on the ball it wouldn’t go out of control with your flames if you lost control.”

You nodded your head in understanding.

“They still believe in you, they haven’t forgotten.”

You smiled sadly, and you looked at the flower, putting the flames out around it.

“Sometimes I wonder if it were better that they did…”

“We all wonder if it’s better people forget about us kid, you’re not the first person to think that, you won’t be the last either. But they won’t forget about you, they’re your family.”

You shrugged slightly.

“What if I’m putting them in danger?”

“That’s why you’re here, to protect them. To train, learn control, so that you can keep them safe, not only from what’s to come, but from yourself.”

You nodded, and closed your eyes again, going back to meditating.

Giles got home late that night, he was exhausted from everything going on, trying to help protect the town once again.

He trudged into his own, tossing his jacket aside and took his glasses off, running a hand down his face.

Walking over to his desk, he set them aside and picked up some papers and stopped.

Setting the papers down, he picked up his glasses, putting them back on, and he picked up the glass ball sitting neatly on his desk, where he hadn’t left it, meaning somebody had moved it.

And he saw the small flame flickering in the middle of it, bright blue, gently moving, as it it were a soul trapped inside a prison it couldn’t escape.

Sitting on his chair, he smiled, letting out a quiet laugh.

“You’re alright..” he whispered.

It was the sign he had been waiting on for nearly a year, a sign that you were alive still.

With the graduation coming up, and the end of the world looking more and more possible with each passing day, it was a moment of clarity.

You were alive.

You were well.

You were still out there

*clears throat* Andi Mack Holiday AU Andi Mack Holdiday AU Andi Mack Holiday AU (or if you were already asked about it I'd love to hear about/see a snippet of your Huntlow texting piece or your Andi Mack Miraculous AU)

Hiiii thanks for asking! Gosh I started the Holiday AU quite a while ago and kinda lost steam but I definitely want to revisit it some day! It begins with Andi living in LA having just recently broken up with Walker, and TJ living in Shadyside having recently broken up with Marty (though unlike the movie both breakups were amicable). Andi of course ends up meeting Amber on her trip and TJ ends up meeting Cyrus. Here's a snippet!

At that thought, Andi sat straight up in bed. “I need a vacation!” she shouted to the empty room. She hopped out of bed and reached for her laptop, quickly typing out the url for Jumble. Bex and Bowie had used Jumble for their honeymoon and couldn't stop praising it, now this was the perfect opportunity for Andi to try it herself.

The only problem was, Andi had no idea where she wanted to go. “Universe!” Andi called out as her dad often did, “Where should I go!?”

Andi sat for a minute waiting for a sign. Nothing happened. Not very seren-dope-ity. Andi rolled her eyes as dark walls stared back at her and fetched her coin purse. She figured it would be easiest to go somewhere in the United States so she wouldn't have to renew her passport. She’d simply flip a coin to decide what half of the country to look at and keep narrowing it down from there. Andi reached into the purse and pulled out a quarter, illuminated only by the light of her computer.

“Okay. Heads I go East. Tails I stay West,” she said to herself. But before Andi could flip the coin, the tails side caught her eye. Two trains faced each other in front of a mountain range, along with the words “Crossroads of the West.” It was a 2007 Utah state quarter.

“Utah,” Andi pondered in the dark. “Okay universe,” she said with a growing smile on her face.

…

The sound of TJ’s phone buzzing startled him as he was just falling asleep. He grabbed it annoyance before focusing on what was on his screen.

New notification from Jumble! tjk1996 has a new message from mackandi!

Any annoyance TJ was feeling completely vanished as he read mackandi’s message. A person--a real life person--actually wanted to visit Shadyside. And she was from Los Angeles no less! TJ was practically buzzing with excitement as he and his new match, Andi, chatted.

mackandi: so is shadyside relatively quiet? i'm looking for a relaxing getaway

tjk1996: super quiet! i promise no one will bother you except maybe my sister when she comes to water the plants

tjk1996: and for fun we have a nice park, a movie theater, and a flea market every weekend

tjk1996: oh also the spoon it's the best diner in the whole state

mackandi: sounds perfect!!!

tjk1996: so, when do you want to do this?

There was a pause before Andi's reply came in. TJ held his breath in anticipation.

mackandi: is tomorrow too soon?

The Andi Mack miraculous au was an idea I had a while back, I actually did end up posting my design for Andi as Ladybug here! I didn't get as far with Chat Noir TJ though. Just a rough sketch!

Unlike the show, this would NOT be a ladybug x chat noir romance, they're friends! In this AU I would give Cyrus the turtle, Buffy the tiger, Jonah the fox, Amber the snake, and Kira the bee. If there are any love square shenanigans it would be between TJ and Cyrus (TJ likes Cyrus as a civilian. Cyrus likes Chat Noir as a hero. They don't know each other's identities.) I'm not really sure who the villain would be though.

I think I might have posted my huntlow texting sketch before but I don't remember for sure so here it is again and the meme it's based on. The show has taken their relationship a lot further than it was when I started this, so I'm not sure if I will finish it one day or not. I still think they are cute though :)

Can’t believe this many years after the finale of Andi Mack I have officially been pulled into the Juffy fandom after seeing Asher Angel guest start on HSMTMTS. Jonah and Buffy as a couple would have been right up there with Tyrus and Ambi and their potential was WASTED.

Andi Mack: Buffy Driscoll - Type 3w4

Buffy is competitive, ambitious, protective and determined. Buffy always strives to be the best in all that she does (especially basketball), but is also always there for her friends.

At her best, Buffy realises that being the best isn’t everything and becomes less competitive in some of her relationships.

At her worst, Buffy can be a bit rash and can jump to conclusions, as we see when she assumes Marty stole her shoes and decides to get revenge by soaking his shoes.

Buffy is really protective of her friends and often stands up for them, as we see in her friendships with Cyrus and Andi. Buffy is also very trustworthy which we can see when she vows to not tell Cyrus’ secret. She also ends up breaking up with Walker because she doesn’t like the way it is impacting her friendship with Andi.

Buffy always tries pushes herself to do her best, as we see when she wants to join the boys’ basketball team. Buffy is accepted onto the team, but is virtually ignored by her teammates (in large part due to TJ being threatened). Instead, Buffy decides to make her own girls’ team because she’s a trailblazer. Initially, Buffy is disappointed because she thinks her team is bad, but as the season progresses, Buffy realises it’s more important to have a team bond and becomes a very good coach, leading to them winning their first match.

Buffy has always felt like she has had to be strong and confident because her mother was deployed. As a result, Buffy doesn’t like to be vulnerable as we see when she doesn’t want to say goodbye to Andi and Cyrus. She also doesn’t want her last memories with them to be negative. Luckily, Buffy is able to stay friends with them and is better equipped to move on when Andi says she’s leaving.

Buffy shows her wing 4 as she is more achievement-oriented and reserved than a 3w2.

Marty: “Do I know you?” Buffy: “I think you would know if you knew me.” Marty: “What have you done that's so great that I would know you?” Buffy: “What haven't I done?” Marty: “I'm gonna say... you haven't eaten a live frog.” Buffy: “Have you?” Marty: “Yes” Buffy: “Why would you eat a live frog?” Marty: “He mouthed off.” Buffy: “You never ate a live frog.” Marty: “Of course not! You're just making this conversation very difficult.” Buffy: “I'm just here for the cheese puffs.”

Buffy: “How do you feel about doing some spy work?” Cyrus: “You kidding? I already got the trench coat and fedora hanging in my closet.” Buffy: “We just need your camera with the big lens.” Cyrus: “I love this! I feel like we’re in one of those old detective movies. Let’s get to work.”
