i love the difference between Merlin being overprotective of Arthur and Arthur being possessive of Merlin.
like...in my eyes, they come from the same place, the same feelings for each other. but they show it in these two very different yet very similar ways bc of their respective upbringing

random rainworld (mostly about vanilla) thoughts under cut warning loooooong
i really like anthropomorphizing (i didn’t realize the word was that long???) the scugs,
but i also think part of the game’s charm is the feeling of being a little beast and not understanding but learning over time.
you learn how to use your movement skills, it feels like starting as a slugpup and then trial and error and trial and error and trial
you are quite literally dropped into an alien world, and have to use your instincts that “giant lizard chasing me bad” and “fruit and bat edible” and it’s really immersive.
after playing for hours and hours and hours it may not feel like you’re making progress but you’re moving through the cycle faster. you’re optimizing where you’ll go and you’re improving your movement and it’s amazing
not even mentioning the structures oh my god. the world is so so beautiful and you don’t understand it but you learn it. does that make sense even. it may not seem like much, the starting areas are quite grey mostly but your brain learns the like. see the world
you learn what to expect from each region usually pretty quick and eventually you adapt
yes a lot of rain world is wandering and dying, over and over and over
but i think that’s what makes it beautiful, i like the dp scug abilities, you also learn how to use them and what to expect and you wander and such, but the vanilla ones are very atmospheric in a way? (so is saint though saint’s world is GORGEOUS i won’t even lie)
bot to mention the superstructures. i think my thoughts would be even less articulated about those. just ooooouuughhhh. also not to mention the overwhelmingly beautiful ending area. ooughghhghghghghghghhghghg oh my godddd.
rain world is so bugs to me. you are a little buggish slug rodent creature and you don’t know what’s going on but you will learn how to survive (haha survivor) and you will explore all of the regions and it is so funnnnnnn
i havem’t played enough downpour to really have thoughts about it initial impressions are, maybe just since it takes place in the same areas you feel less lost but that’s not really the point of their campaigns. i do think they’re fun just in a distinctly different way
when i see tierlists i often see the vanilla slugs, specifically survivor and monk put low and i know why, but for me nothing has yet beat the emotions the survivor campaign invoked tbh
except for saint. oh my god saint. saint campaign oooougughghhg. AANWAWSSWAWAWAWAWA tearing up scewaming rolling around rocking back and forth gripping onto a nearby surface so tightly shaking a stuffed ankmal. AAGAGAGHAHGAHAGAHHA OUGHGHHGHG. AGAGAWAGWGAGWGAGWGAWAWAWAWAWAA AWAWGAAGAGA AWAGAGAGA AWAGAWAAAAA.
hope this provides some insight zbout how i feel about the saint campaign. i’ve barely even played any of it (spoilered myself to all campaigns very early on cause im bad and probably wont beat most cries) but i could literally cry over it right now. i could literally burst into tears and cry snd sob and scream and wail and mourn and grieve and die violently. i could explode. i could die. right now
conclusion: wawawawawagagawawagawa.🕳️

Opinion on these bugs?
Moths?
Bees? (My personal favorite)
Beetles?
Aphids?
Wasp?
Aspids?
Ants?
Pill bugs/roll-polies
Hmmm!
moths: I absolutely love moths,, they’re so pretty and unique and honestly such a joy to see. We also get Lunar moths down where I’m at so I’ve had a few lucky encounters with those! (Moths are also my personal favorite to pin second to bees and butterflies!)
Bees!!! I love bees!! They’re so cute and dumb and all around are such cool creatures, my personal favorite type of bees are mason bees!!
beetles,,, they’re so stupid looking I love them. I hold a personal hatred for junebugs though since one got caught in my hair once and it freaked me out. Other then that beetles are super cool
aphids, they’re super invasive down here so I don’t really like them all too much, wooly aphids are cute though
wasps, I hold a personal hatred towards wasps, specifically yellow jackets since once stung me in my ear once and I still have slight (not very prominent anymore) hearing difficulties in that ear (mainly how that ear is much more sensitive then the other. I already have sensory issues that make loud noises be painful but it’s a lot more prominent in that one then it is the other).
I don’t know if Aspids are a real bug or not but I’m just going to assume you’re referring to primal aspids so. KILL THEM ALL I HATE THEM I HATE THEM THEY ENDED MY F**KING STEEL SOUL RUN ONCE I HATE ASPIDS
Ants, we have a MAJJOORRRRRRR ant problem all across the state where I’m at (to the point where I thought bugles picnics were just a thing in storybooks, no I’m not joking). So I have very mixed opinions. When I went outta state once I was amazed by the fact that I could actually sit OUTSIDE and not have to be checking my legs every 30 seconds to make sure there were no bugs on them. I seriously have never been able to just. Go outside and sit by a tree without having to worry about getting bitten.
ROLLY POLLIES,,,, BABIES,,. LITTLE GUYS,,,, WAAAAAAAAAAAAH THEY ARE. SO CUTE AND TEENSY AND WAAAAAH I LOVE THEM,, someday I wanna start my own little pill hug terrarium tank and get some of the fancier breeds of them because AAAAA I love pill bugs,,,

While I wait for my melatonin to kick in, let me tell you about my recent journey.
I have been afraid of and disgusted by bugs my entire life. I always felt they had too many legs and looked so frightening. Spiders were the scariest though frankly all bugs made me panic.
As I’ve gotten older my love for Mother Earth and all her creatures has grown. I’ve recently decided I want to try to abolish my fear of bugs.
How did I do this? You may be asking…
Well. I decided any time I see a bug I will pick it up carefully and look at it up close.
I’ve realized with recent bug encounters that they do not wish to hurt anything. I am so large compared to them. Like a giant. They are not trying to frighten me. They’re simply navigating the world in their own little bug way. They’re simply misunderstood. Bugs are told they are creepy and unwelcoming and scary because they have many legs and large eyes. Though large eyes help them to see and they need their legs to crawl!
Bees were something I could never like.. until a couple days ago.
I was on my way to school. On my path I saw an injured bee. Despite my distaste for being possibly stung, I gently let it crawl onto my finger. It was sweet. It was as though the soft small creature could tell I had good intentions. I relocated it into some grass and away from the path so it would not get stepped on. Not once did it seem hostile.
It was the same thing with the ant, centipede, and moths I’ve interacted with. They mean no harm.
The one thing I don’t think I can get over is my arachnophobia unfortunately. My panic response happens before I can properly think.
I hope you enjoy hearing about my journey to accepting more beings.
Maybe hold a creature this week and look at them very close up. It makes existence feel so big. It’s nice.

random question: if you were a bug, what kind of bug would you be? 👀
Ooooohhh okayyy
So. I love butterflies very very much, and these days I'm feeling like a lil caterpillar on a cocoon, waiting for the right moment to come out. So a butterfly? 🦋 🐛
But also, I LOVE ladybugs. They are so beautiful and cute, but are a menace and such assholes, I can definitely relate to that hahahaha. 🐞
What about you hun? If you weren't three crows in a trench coat (hehe), what bug would YOU be??

Merlin's magic isn't a thing or a weapon.
It's part of Merlin, living and breathing and loving, just as Merlin himself does.
The magic figured out their feelings long before the man, not held back by societal hierarchies and fears. So, long before Merlin ever admitted his feelings to himself, every time they were in close proximity, his magic was straining and eager to try to get to the object of their affection.
Every day Merlin felt like he was holding back an overexcited cat that kept trying to wriggle from his grasp to wind around Arthur and stay there, in his warmth, forever.
Every casual touch between them had Merlin's magic purring in his chest and surging up to meet the touch, matching Arthur's warmth with its warmth.
Every smile and wayward glace left Merlin's magic ruffled and excited, doing happy little zooms inside him.
When Merlin did finally recognize his own feelings, his magic only got more excited. It took everything the poor man had in him to hold it back.
When the two finally kissed, Merlin couldn't contain it anymore. His magic surged out in a warm pulse and golden glow, wanting to kiss Arthur as well.
And Arthur had never felt or seen something so beautiful.

I think slugcats are like sharks in that they have teeth but no other bones
agree!! the slippery little fellows
and after looking uo more facts avout sharks. apparently thry have teeth over their skin (dermal denticles/placoid scales)???
which idk if any scugs would have. it would make their skin tougher but they’d also be rough like sandpaper
and i imagine most scugs are quite squishy and not very tough considering they get insta killed a lot <— bolded cause it’s like ghe thing that ends up confusing me
maybe riv has it cause apparently it makes swimming easier i think, but it’d have to be kinda thin or weak cause theyre still squishy? idk
wait im gonna look more stuff up
ok other option for cartilaginous (cartilage instead of bones) fish are scutes (whcih also serve as turtle shell plating, crocodile skin, and armor for some ticks) but those are also pretty tough
i kept looking up cartilaginous mammals and all that came up was spec bio (basically making your own species but considering how theyd survive and how they evolved and stuffs i think)
and only a little bit was found there so idk how it’d actually work loll,
but rain world is an alien planet so it’s literally speculative biology cause all the creatures are aliens
short answer i looked stuff up got confused about skin but i agree eith you that thing is BONELESS 👍
added bolds and italics so it’s les sboring to read/harder to get distracted
posted this early before i fully added it d’aww mannnn. it looks kinda silly anyway im bad at texturing my beeg posts i just add

what’s it like keeping reptiles that eat insects? like where/how do you house the insects, how long would you have them for, do they reproduce while you have them, do they escape often? thank you😊😊
It's pretty simple! Roaches typically ship in cups with eggcrate you can keep them with, you just have to feed them. I mostly fed carrots.
For superworms I kept them in a 6qt bin full of oatmeal! They'd burrow in there and eat it, and I'd supplement them with carrots and fish food mostly.
I didn't have ANY escapes, but they also did not reproduce as I never attempted. My lizards weren't big enough to eat adult dubia so I'd buy small ones every month or two. The superworms need some extra steps to breed them. I prefer to just buy them, than getting into all that. If I kept more lizards, it would make sense to breed them! Right now my only lizards eat Pangea mix, so no live bugs at all.
With flightless fruit flies, I did try breeding them but I was really hit or miss with the culture taking off or crashing, and the supplies were a bit costly for my failures. I don't know, they were fine I guess, it was working. If I did flies again I'd probably breed them again too. Stick them in the fridge for a minute to slow them down before opening the lid though!! When they are fast, that's when you'll have a PROBLEM. I take it back I did have escapes when I didn't know to fridge them for a minute at first. I was like HOW do people DO THIS? Flies everywhere and I was on a desperate mash frenzy. Pure chaos. Maybe I should do flies again though lmao.
