cole sprouse being a closet bughead fan is not what i expected to see today but here we are. he also said they have no clue what’s going to happen in any future episodes and the actors are mostly kept in the dark about where things are going. do you think that makes it hard for them to portray scenes or dig into their characters or is it a non factor? i would want to know how things play out so badly.

Not to rain on anyone's parade, and I've only seen a few short clips from the interview, but I think he's a pretty non-closeted fan of acting, working with actors, and digging into real emotional arcs. What I got is that he felt like there needed to be a longer conversation between Betty and Jughead, versus the quick bits and catharsis that Betty had on her own. He's not shipping anything, he's not dismissing any other relationships. He's addressing scenes that would allow him to flex and work emotionally. From an acting perspective, I'm sure that would be interesting for him. He likes the relationships, and working with actors - that isn't a shocker: actors like acting.

As for the other part in terms of being kept in the dark, frankly that's par for the course for the large majority of TV. It's incredibly rare that actors do know what's coming beyond the episode they're shooting, or a few episodes down the road, particularly with broadcast TV (streaming is different, but only because by the point most interviews are happening they've already filmed the entire season). The pace is incredibly quick, things change on the fly... Maybe a little more than usual with Riverdale (based on what I've heard from talking to people about it), but mostly they don't know because it hasn't entirely been settled on yet.

That said, in order to not to be a total negative nelly here, absolutely I think it's better if you have the full scope of things so you can craft a performance. That's just not possible on a 20 episode TV show, but with a movie, or a show that has all the scripts in advance that's of course a great help to the actor... That way they know emotionally where they're starting, and where they need to end so they can fill in the bits in between; along with the writers, the director, and their fellow actors. I think it's less about plot points, more about being able to actually do their job properly (i.e., create an emotional arc and journey for a character).

Excited to see how the main takeaway from this ask is "why do you hate Tabitha?" or whatever.

Betty knows this because she stood for likely several prolonged seconds by the entrance to their shared common room, counting every single one. She would be lying if she said that she had never imagined just exactly what Jughead was hiding underneath his jumpers and robes. Everything he wears is clearly tailored -- another signal of his immense wealth; his clothes always molded his body well. Not that she was obsessing over his body or anything -- truly. She’s never really let herself look for that long, at least not like now. Never in her wildest imagination did she expect that she would ever see him like this -- so exposed, raw, and half-naked. His muscles are lean and sculpted. It’s like someone carved his chest out from stone, smoothing away any rough edges, taking care to highlight every indentation and curve.

When an unfortunate accident puts the breaks on their scenic drive, Betty and Jughead find themselves stuck waiting for help. 

The car won’t be the only thing getting serviced.

“Well... fuck,” Betty mutters before speaking up over the beat of rain on metal, “we’re going to have to wait it out or call for roadside assistance.” 

A minute passes without a response from Jughead. She turns her head to find him staring with rapt focus, his eyes glued to her chest. His beanie is sodden, and his curls lay flat across his forehead, the water making a slow trek down his brow. A single drop clings to his bottom lip, and his tongue reaches out, swiping it away.

The long spikes of his eyelashes, the pink of his lips and tongue - she’s entranced by the moisture on Jughead’s skin, the same way he’s captivated by the damp fabric clinging to hers. Her breasts ache, heavy with the intensity of his attention. 

Of all the days to not wear a bra under her t-shirt.

20. It’s just rain, you aren’t gonna melt!

“Come on, Cheryl. It’s just rain. You aren’t going to melt!” Betty pleaded.

“If you think I’m willing to ruin these Jimmy Choo heels just to drive you home, you’re crazier than I give you credit for.” Her sparkly heels clicked against the floor, echoing in the halls as she walked away.

Betty slumped against the wall, utterly regretting getting a ride to school from Cheryl. She should’ve known better.

She peered out the front door, solemnly making the decision to walk home alone without an umbrella to protect her from the torrential downpour. Her hand reached forward, ready to leave, when a voice stopped her.

“Hey, uh, Betty, right?” A boy with jet black hair and an odd crown-like hat asked her. Betty nodded. “I overheard your conversation with the ‘princess.’ You need a ride?”

Betty hesitated. He wasn’t the kind of guy she’d typically be seen around. He always wore a Serpent jacket, proudly claiming his affiliation to the gang. Betty’s mom had always made her stay away from the Southside. But Jughead Jones seemed different. She felt an undeniable pull toward him.

“Thanks.”

He seemed a little surprised that she agreed but then gave her a slow smile. “Alright.” He started taking off his jacket. “You’re going to want this. Unfortunately, my ride isn’t exactly rainproof. But it’ll get you there faster than walking. I’ll pull up to the curb.”

Underneath the jacket, Jughead had only been wearing a simple white t-shirt. Betty tried not to stare as he walked out the door. She slipped on his jacket, welcoming the warmth.

He pulled up to the curb, and she walked down the steps toward him.

“You know, if you ever need a ride, I’m here,” he mumbled nervously.

She wrapped her arms around his waist, trying to suppress a smile. This is definitely something she could get used to.

I have to laugh at how jealous those B*rchies are of our Bughead content: rain kiss? Bughead got that. Love confession initiated by the boyfriend? Bughead got that. Angsty porch scene? Yep, Bughead got one of those too. Marriage foreshadowing? Bughead got that (on more than one occasion too). Actual proper romantic development? Guess what? Bughead got that as well and BA has been paid dust. I’d pity them if they weren’t so freakin nasty harassing us for literal years. So instead, I’m just gonna keep being Petty Cooper about it all. Cry about it BAs.

Loving this energy and totally agree. Stuff they want, we already got and even better. Plus a lot of other wonderful scenes that aren't as cliché as their wishes.
