Today's problematic ship is the Xin Hai Tong 23

The Xin Hai Tong 23 is a 189 m bulk carrier. On May 25, 2023, she ran aground while transiting the Suez Canal. At least four other vessels had to stop and wait. The Xin Hai Tong 23 was freed by tugs the same day. This is at least the fourth such incident starting from when the Ever Given blocked the canal for six days in March-April 2021. That blockage help up almost $10 billion in trade.

There's this situation with a service of ours that has been going on since a year and everyone has resorted to fingerpointing because whoever can prove it's the others fault can make the other party pay for the massive amount of time that has been invested. In reality the problem is a known TCP effect happening with too much latency, there is no party at fault, and i've got a solution in my pocket but am not allowed to play it because it means we won't get the time spent reimbursed. I hate corpo politics.

#it's the TCP Long Fat Network problem ... #also i'm p sure another reason why my solution won't be accepted is because #it involves cutting a carrier out of the route that we're trying to maintain bulk prices with #this is an international line and the destination country's carrier has a node in frankfurt ... #we could just skip the first carrier completely ...
