Hestia’s also known to be the peacemaker and voice of reason between the gods- giving unbiased advice. Hestia’s an aromantic asexual. She’s one of the eternal virgins. She doesn’t see the need for romantic and sexual relationships, instead dedicating her life into helping the community.

Being the goddess of the hearth, home, and family, Hestia can show people past visions of their family history. She also has the ability of pyrokinesis (her fire being a rich deep red color). She has a home decor business a.k.a home furniture stores (A Hearth Design)- including kitchen appliances, dinnerware, and bathroom products. Hestia also co- hosts her brother’s home improvement show on TV & does online cooking shows on Fatestagram. She also runs a popular magazine called Hearthside.

Her bakeries and diners are very popular in Olympius. Even though she has the ability to generate & conjure up delicious food without a second thought, she opts for cooking the “mortal way," enjoying the actual process of making food.

She also enjoys red wine, hot chocolate, sparkling water, white wine, sparkling lemonade, mimosas, iced tea, lemon drop martinis, & the french blonde (a drink made with elderflower liqueur, gin, white wine, grapefruit juice, and orange bitters).

Hestia’s even taken up beekeeping as a little hobby.

Hestia’s proud of her plus-size figure! She’ll rock the most fashionable vintage bathing suit while out on the beach. Her personal style is a perfect mix of late 40's/early 1950's vintage.

After a long day at work, when she gets home, Hestia’s favorite meal to make for herself is honey-lemon glazed fried chicken, baked mac n’ cheese, roasted potatoes, and spinach & kale feta salad topped off with a glass of red wine.

I love Jeanie’s maximalist apt. in NYC. She’s a professional organizer, so I thought maybe we could pick up some tips from her. She says, “The trouble is that people think they’re better at organizing themselves or their lives than actually are,” at least that is what she has observed since she started her business. This is a view across the living room seating area towards the front door.

A “found” mirror that Jeanie embellished with silk flowers hangs above a cabinet filled with her bobble-head collection. Jeanie repurposed the cabinet, another street find, with shelves, paint and paper.

Of her zeal and talent for organizing, she said, “… it’s shy of compulsion, but I can’t think when there’s clutter. It weighs on me physically.”

An English circus carousel light panel from a carpet store hangs above a Chinese buffet, also from the store. The Murano glass vessels belonged to Jeanie’s grandparents. The octopus tentacle candlestick is by artist Adam Wallacavage.

A Pez collection, started when Jeanie was a senior in high school, is housed in recycled dresser drawers.

Looking across the seating area with its bold colors and fun collections. “My design aesthetic is somewhere between a fun house and a flea market,” says Jeanie.

Looking towards the east wall, a mirror found on the street in the DUMBO section of NYC hangs above a mantle filled with family photos.

A comfy sofa from Anthropologie is filled with an array of colorful pillows.

A Harry Allen “Banana Bowl” sculpture from his “Reality” series, is filled with felt candy by British artist Lucy Sparrow. The Japanese coffee table was inherited from Jeanie’s parents.

A collection of globes displayed creatively atop of hanging vintage school desks and concealed bookshelves. The melon-colored credenza is from is from Mod Shop.

A bust of Elvis Presley that Jeanie painted to look like KISS band member, Paul Stanley, stands on a bench from Anthropologie. Bobble heads from line the top of the living room radiator.

A lunchbox collection fills the wall shelves of the dining area. The table is custom painted. The pink chandelier is from ABC Carpet & Home. Jeanie covered the standard chain with leftover silk flowers from her foyer mirror project.

An eerie work by British artist Ray Caesar hangs above an old bottle collection. The decorative plate found at a neighborhood flea market represents the Fire Department from Jeanie’s hometown.

A stack of books on a vintage tin topped off by a red Batmobile.

Jeanie’s collection of dainty teacups hangs is displayed in custom cabinets. The collection was inherited from her namesake grandmother who embellished the cups with gold paint.

Every inch of Jeanie’s compact kitchen is covered with colorful collections. A friend gifted her the retro Kellogg’s cereal plates to match her cereal box collection.

A painted collage, “John Wayne,” by artist Greg Gossel hangs above a custom dresser. Nearby, Jeanie fashioned an oil-cloth panel to conceal a laser printer.

A desk chair from Pottery Barn is tucked under a small desk that was a street find.

Mugshot Monday - "Brown Fish Tumbler" by Bruce Gholson of Bulldog Pottery with Morning Glory Cold Brew by Peace Coffee

Did you know there are more than 80 potters living and working in Seagrove, North Carolina? I did not, until my cousin Laurie texted me about a day-trip she was planning.

It's a really cool story that ends with this photo of me holding a lovely tumbler by Bruce Gholson of Bulldog Pottery.

Laurie's family gives my Aunt Corie (her mom) amazing monthly experiences for Christmas instead of wrapped presents.

For this year's excursions, they used the passions of friends and family to influence each destination. I am told that my love of coffee mugs inspired a trip to Seagrove to visit as many pottery studios as possible in one day! 😀

This is an amazing idea, but listen to this twist: The intent was to find the perfect cup to send me for my Mugshot Monday project. 😍

Laurie's only task for me was to review the list of 80+ Seagrove potters to help create some sort of an itinerary.

Lucky for all of us, discoverseagrove.com has maps, contact information, and write-ups of all the Seagrove potters. I really enjoyed going through them all and gave my recommendations.

The only pottery studio I recognized was Bulldog Pottery. Back in 2019, Jeff Oestreich loaned out mugs for his students to study and I loved his Bruce Gholson mug.

On the day of the trip back in March, Laurie continuously texted photos and stories from all the studios they visited. I was geeking out. So much amazing pottery!

And then they arrived at the Bulldog Pottery Studio. Laurie and Corie had a delightful time talking with Bruce and his wife--and studio partner--Samantha Henneke.

Laurie shot a short video of Bruce explaining how he glazed his favorite cup in the studio. I'm now holding that same cup.

One little info-nugget Laurie shared with me is that Bruce's first name is actually "Karl" with a "k"! "Bruce" is his middle name. That made me smile. 😀

What an amazing experience. I kind of feel like I got a Christmas present out of this, too!

Thank you for this fabulous cup, Laurie and Corie! I love it and I love the story even more.
