“Striptease” is the revelation of an ultimate truth, so here is ... I am crumbling on the inside, but have tolerated the pain to reveal this disgusting personal occurrence to the world. A year ago this douchey gallerist invited me on a trip with a gallery he manages. In a naive hope to exhibit at the gallery, I joined him anyway on the trip. It was clear that I would have to ‘share his bed’ there, and I thought that this was the sacrifice I had to make to get my art out. Seeing my lack of enthusiasm in having sex with him, he pressured me into taking drugs along with his clique. The “moon rocks”, as he called them, led me to believe that we had some deep, emotional connection , where there was none. He continued to shoot out creepy messages after the trip on all social media channels, ignoring my reminders to review my portfolio. Once, he even called me at 4 am in the morning only to wank off to the sight off my body and hung up as soon as he came as if I were some disposable semen rag. He would predominantly send me emoticons as if I’m some bimbo, who is illiterate. This whole ‘sexting’ interaction was and is extremely upsetting to me. I felt exploited, disregarded and disrespected as a human being in the course of its duration. Nevertheless, I played along to these sleezy messages in order to bear witness to the fact that even in the 21st century, in the seemingly “open-minded”, “liberal” and “androgynous” art world circles, there are still those #harveyweinstein type gallerists, who use the little power that they have to undermine, manipulate and objectify us, as women, in order to validate their insecure egos and undefined sexuality.
