akutagawa ryuunosuke x f!reader

prompt #8 : trying to tell their friends/coworkers they’re dating, but due to nerves, one simply kisses the other’s inner wrist making the recipient of the kiss blush

Saying you were nervous was an understatement.

A very big understatement.

Today was the day your boyfriend was going to introduce you to his coworkers.

His mafia coworkers.

And you were just a normal civilian.

See where I’m getting at?

Yeah, the two of you were most definitely nervous.

Well, at least you seemed most definitely nervous.

Your boyfriend looked indifferent to the situation as the two of you walked side by side to the infamous port mafia building.

You admired that quality of his. He never wavered nor hesitated in doing what he wanted.

But, that didn’t mean he wanted this whole meet and greet to be happening.

He blames Higuchi.

He knew at some point, his subordinates were going to find out—except Gin because she already knew (she was the one who helped him figure out his feelings in the first place)—and he figured that the first one was going to be Higuchi.

He had always thought she was too nosy for her own good.

And for the boss and his other superiors?

They already fucking knew.

The boss—along with Elise— Kouyou, and Chuuya basically gave the two of you heart attacks (on the outside it was mostly you, but on the inside you could tell that your boyfriend had panicked as well) when they suddenly appeared in your path as the two of you walked in the park.

The whole encounter was suspicious and you definitely stuttered on your words a lot couple of times but you were stunned into silence when your boyfriend stepped in front of you and told his superiors (with politeness and respect) that he was busy at the moment and was on a date.

He then grabbed your wrist (gently) and pulled you behind him passing by his superiors.

After passing them, you snapped back into reality and start to retaliate trying to get your boyfriend to stop so that the two of you can go back and introduce yourself properly.

Your lover was having none of it and continued to walk pulling you forward. As you continued to struggle, Akutagawa eventually stopped and turned around to face you.

As you continued to talk, you looked up at his face and froze again seeing the prominent blush on his face.

The dark haired male avoided looking into your eyes and you giggle even as you feel your own blush start to appear on your cheeks.

You brush some of his hair out of his face making his blush—as well as yours—grow darker and you laugh softly as leans into your touch.

Unbeknownst to you and Ryuu, the Mafia boss and his executives watched you two interact with a suspiciously content look on their faces.

Using a sleeve of her kimono to hid the grin on her face, she turns to her two companions, “Akutagawa-kun’s girlfriend is pretty cute isn’t she?”

Chuuya sighs, “As long as he doesn’t fuck up on the job or their relationship, it doesn’t matter to me, Ane-san.”

Mori only chuckles, “Unfortunately, I only deal with girls ages twelve and younger.”

“Shush. I’ll sew your mouth shut.”

That specific encounter already scared the shits out of you and the two of you were barely there for five minutes.

But you were both relieved at the fact you weren’t going to get killed by the mafia for dating their “silent rabid dog”.

Not like your boyfriend would let anything hurt you in the first place.

In the beginning, he wasn’t sure why or when he fell for you, the civilian girl who worked in the teahouse near his and Gin’s shared apartment.

But it just kind of happened.

He found himself seeking your company and going to the teahouse nearly everyday.

Eventually, with the help of his sister, he found the courage to ask you out.

To his surprise, you said yes.

And when he told you what he did for a living, and you weren’t afraid of him or his sister and continued to stay by his side?

When you accepted him for the unaffectionate awkward person he was?

He swore to himself he wouldn’t let anything happen to you; he didn’t want to lose you or let go of what the two of you had.

It was only a bonus that you got along with his sister.

So if being forced to have this whole meet and greet means he gets to stay with you, then damn it all he’s going to fucking do it.

As the two of you continued to make your way to the Port Mafia building, you continued to think back to your encounter with the higher up mafia members.

You freeze in your tracks as you realized something, making your boyfriend turn back to you in confusion.

Does this mean I have approval? I mean, those three didn’t kill me, or threaten me for that matter...wait... is there going to be some kind of test?! Maybe that’s what’s going to happen today...what if I fail?! I really don’t want to break up with Ryuu—

“Oi.”

Snapping out of your thoughts you look up at your boyfriend.

You were about to apologize for slowing him down but your words are caught in your throat as he began to talk.

“Don’t worry about this, idiot. I’ll take care of it.”

Not giving you any time to respond, he turned back around, stuffed his hands in his coat pockets and continued to walk towards the tall building.

You blink at the retreating back of you boyfriend, but then a smile falls on your face and a small laugh escapes as you jog to catch up with him.

His right arm was held out a little more than usual and you’re not completely sure, but you’re almost positive he did that on purpose.

He always did have trouble showing you affection, but he tries his best and you appreciate that.

You take that opportunity that he may or may not have given you to slip your arm in his and place your right hand on his forearm, effectively holding his arm close to you, and with that, the two of you walked the rest of the way with linked arms and flushed, content faces.

God, you were nervous.

The two of walked into the building with ease, but you could feel the lingering stares of the people you walked passed.

You subconsciously tightened the grip you had on your boyfriend’s arm and in response he removed his left hand from his pocket and reached over to place it on top of your right hand and rubs it gently using his thumb.

Before you knew it, you were walking down one hallway and from the distance you could see four figures.

You start to tense as you and Ryuu got closer and closer to the four figures.

You relaxed slighty as you recognized Gin among the four.

She nods at you and a small nervous smile makes its way on your face.

Eventually, the two of you stop walking and you’re about five feet away from the four mafia members.

One of them was Gin (who you were close to) and the other three people were made up of a guy with brownish redish hair and a bandaid on his nose, an older man with a monocle, and another woman that had her blonde hair tied into a messy bun.

Trying to recall the information both Gin and Ryuunosuke had given you the night before, the names of the people in front of you start to click in your head.

The guy around your age was Tachihara, and the older man, Hirotsu.

As for the blonde haired woman, that was Higuchi if you remember correctly.

The one who kind of crashed your date a couple of days ago.

- 3 days ago -

You and Ryuu were walking around the shopping district lightly chatting with your arms linked together.

It wasn’t often that the two of you were able to spend time together, but when you could, Ryuu would come over to your apartment where you just spent time together at home.

This time however, he needed to run some errands for Gin because she was unavailable and you yourself had to run some errands, so simply put, the two of you went together.

It totally wasn’t because Ryuu appeared at your apartment door no of course not who told you that?

You and boyfriend were actually enjoying your day out and actually having a pretty long chat when suddenly the two of you heard someone call out your boyfriend’s name.

“A-Akutagawa-senpai?!”

You looked away from your boyfriend’s face to see a blonde haired woman standing in front of you with her face full of shock.

Just as you were about to open your mouth, you were suddenly tugged backwards by your boyfriend and found yourself being pulled by the hand into the direction the two of you had just come from.

“Akutagawa-senpai!”

Your boyfriend only sped up his pace as his name was yelled out again by the blonde woman.

“R-Ryuu wait! That lady—”

“Don’t mind that pest (y/n).”

“But—”

“Don’t.”

You heard the shouts of the blonde fade away as your boyfriend dragged you into the big crowd.

As he pulled you through the crowd you stared at the back of his head inquisitively. You look down at your joined hands and gave it a squeeze.

You felt him freeze a little and you let out a small laugh as the tips of his ears went red.

You always thought he looked cute when he blushed, no matter how big or small it was.

You sped up your pace a little bit so you two would walk side by side rather than him leading you the whole way.

“Sooo...”

He gives you a look.

“So what.”

You give him a teasing grin.

“Was that an ex-girlfriend?”

An uncharacteristic expressive look meets his face and you can’t help but laugh.

“Oh god, no.”

You giggle at his tone in his voice.

“Don’t worry Ryuu,” you gently say, “I know she’s a co-worker. It’s Higuchi right? Gin and I have something called girl talk, you know.”

“Then you must know how irritating she can be.”

“Ryuu, be nice.”

- Back to the present -

Later that evening (three days ago), your boyfriend came to your apartment more irritated than when Higuchi stopped the two of you in the sidewalk of the shopping district.

He told you that word had spread throughout the mafia that he had a girlfriend and that his subordinates would like to meet you.

What surprised you wasn’t the fact that a meet and greet was in place, what surprised you was the look on your boyfriend’s face.

He looked a bit guilty and maybe even apologetic...?

You weren’t quite sure because you’ve never seen that look on his face before.

So in light of that, you vowed to yourself that you would face this head on.

Whether that inner promise was going well in the moment, you’re not sure because holy you were so nervous.

There were a million things running through your mind; the introduction you were reciting in your head, your anxiety, your fears, first impressions...yeah you were a mess.

But nonetheless, you stood a bit straighter and waited for your boyfriend to speak first to start to your introduction.

Hearing no words fall from your lover’s mouth you turn your head and look up at him, noting that the small group in front of you does the same.

The look on the eldest Akutagawa’s face is unreadable; even for you.

You shake him a little bit and there’s worry swimming in your (e/c) orbs.

You note that Higuchi’s eyes does the same.

You softly whisper his name trying to catch his attention, “Ryuu...”

Not even a grunt.

You shake him a bit harder this time.

You don’t bother to whisper at this point.

“Ryuu are you okay? Do you need a minute? We can do this later if you wish.”

At your gentle tone, a very light blush appears on his cheeks.

Your boyfriend’s colleagues start to voice their concerns as well.

“Oi! Akutagawa! You okay?”

Higuchi joins in with Tachihara.

“Akutagawa-senpai! Do you need water?! How about you go sit down? Or— Huh?!”

The next move your boyfriend made caused everyone to freeze in their tracks.

Your hand that was on Akutagawa’s forearm was suddenly not there anymore and instead in his grasp.

You look at him in confusion, “Ryuu, what’s going—wha?!”

Your boyfriend had just brought your hand closer to his lips, but turned it over and kissed the inside of your wrist, right where your pulse is.

Almost immediately, your face erupts into a bright red.

Your boyfriend moves your hand again and places it on his face, and closes his eyes and just leans into your touch.

You were spluttering and stuttering just forgetting about that first impression you wanted to leave with his coworkers.

Speaking of which.

The group that was still in front of you were fucking shook.

They were aware of who you were and that you were Akutagawa’s girlfriend but damn.

Tachihara and Higuchi had their jaws dropped and eyes wide and the color had completely vanished from Higuchi’s face.

Hirotsu and Gin were able to conceal their surprise a bit better than the other two, only having their eyes wide, but not as wide as the other two mentioned.

After a few moments, Gin’s expression softened and a content smile made a way on her face, hidden by her mask.

She was proud of her big brother; if he was willing and unafraid give affection and introduce you, his girlfriend, to people who usually see him as an emotionless brute, then it was clear, you were staying for the long run.

Now, it wasn’t like you were deprived of affection from your boyfriend, but it certainly wasn’t the norm.

To respect his boundaries, and to respect the fact that he wasn’t given much affection growing up and wasn’t used to it, you refrained from initiating anything very big or initiating anything at all unless it seemed like he really needed it.

Hugs were rare, but happened occasionally, hand holding actually happened quite often, but in the privacy of either his or your home, kisses on the lips happen, but not as often as pecks on the cheeks or forehead.

All of that always takes place at home, and anything public was close to nonexistent. When the two of you walked, you didn’t hold hands, just walked along side each other, only occasionally linking arms, like how you did today.

You never pressured him nor asked anything more of him; the amount of affection the two of you shared didn’t change how you much you loved him.

So the fact that he willingly showed you such an intimate gesture in front of other people...well let’s just say you were shocked and embarrassed to say the very least. But deep down, you were glad he was starting to break out of his shell.

But like holy shit were you red.

It only got worse when he opened his eyes and placed his hand over yours.

You look down in embarrassment and you hear a chuckle from above.

You eye the small audience the two of you have before whispering to your lover.

“Ryuu, I uh what was that? Not that I’m complaining but you don’t usually do that, and—”

He cuts you off by removing your hand briefly and kissing your wrist again instantly making you go quiet.

You pulls you closer before whispering back to you, “I may not be the best at showering you in affection, but I’m sure you know by now that I’m a man of action more than a man of words.”

You blink at him before letting out a laugh.

He’s never going to admit it out loud, but he chickened out. He got nervous.

But, he was able to make you smile, make you laugh, and that’s what matters most to him.

At the sound of your laugh, a quick small smile slips onto your boyfriend’s face, but it leaves almost as soon as it appeared.

You yourself were unable to see it, but Higuchi and the rest of the Black Lizard, for the briefest moment, caught sight of it.

The expression on her face changed to something more of amazement; her expression softened and chuckled to herself.

You made her senpai happy, and that in itself is obvious.

He was in love with you, and she’s going to respect that.

She straightened herself up and notices the other three do the same.

They all had a content look on their faces.

The blonde smiles a bit wider before whispering, “Welcome to the Port Mafia, (y/n)-san.”
