This is not a criticism of furries or anything, love how creative they are and I used to be one when I was younger (I still love designing anthro animal characters) but I don’t understand why sometimes they make their fursonas a hybrid between two animals so they’ll have certain features when there ARE real animals with those features. Like, I don’t mean something clearly impossible like mixing something with a dragon or being a winged wolf or something, but I’ve seen someone make their fursona a mouse x chinchilla hybrid because they wanted it to look like a mouse but have a bushy tail and it’s like… there are so many animals that fit this exact description!
Clockwise, we have: a bushy tailed jird, a bushy tailed wood rat, an European edible dormouse and a banner tailed kangaroo mouse. And that’s not even scratching the surface!

Bushy tailed jird cages. I also have bins and single level rat cages for maternity/bachelor pads, and some tanks for elderly jirds and those I'm watching for illness/injury.

The babies from late May 2023 are starting to explore now! Their father is my possibly pied male. Next year I should get a better understanding of what's going on with his genes.

I had to say goodbye to six of my babies. They're going to a breeder in Florida. I'm going to miss them, I put a lot of work into these guys, including a lot of one on one handling and enrichment. They're extremely friendly and will come to you and hop into your hand when you open their cage.
I am also constantly adding new food variety to their meals. I would love more suggestions on food items to add. I buy bulk flowers, leaves, grains, nuts, seeds, etc. from tea/nut/herb companies online. This is in addition to gerbil food and lab blocks and insects, leafy greens, hay, grass, etc.

I'm about to send six of my bushy tailed jirds out to someone for part of their breeding program. They're an exotic breeder with past knowledge of BTJs. I'm so sad..... I hate picking out who stays and who goes. I love them all too much.
