Hi could I get JATP Luke x reader where the reader is best friends with Julie and she’s part of the band too but behind the scene she gets bullied at school physically (because people are jealous of her voice) Julie and Flynn never noticed that she tried to cover up her bruises
Thank you for the request, I don't really write for jatp anymore but I've whipped up a little something for you. I also may have gone a little off plot with the above request but I hope you still like it.
No-one had ever realised, or so she thought as no-one have ever commented on it, that she only ever wore long sleeves and she never wore short skirts or dresses. Some might say it wasn't a conscious choice, that she that wasn't her style but in truth she would have loved to wear half the outfits that both Julie and Flynn wore without a care.
The truth was that even though she was part of the band, her peers at school seemed to hate her where they adored Julie and the boys, not like she could blame them what wasn't to like about them. She could handle it when it was just funny looks and sharp words but lately it had been physical. It started with kids tripping her in the hallways so she either fell and grazed her knees or bruised herself when she fell against the lockers. Then it had escalated a few days ago, a group of them had cornered her after school as she was heading out from a late study session in the library, one boy had grabbed her wrist so hard she'd had been left with finger shaped bruises encircling her wrist. They were painful and sore when she moved her arm but she'd been able to hide it from her friends, from her parents, from everyone.
Only she hadn't. Flynn had caught sight of it accidently when she reached across the table for something at lunch and only decided not to say anything when she caught sight of the way she quickly tugged her sleeve back down over it. Now Flynn wasn't stupid, she knew something was up and she was worried but in the middle of the cafeteria was not the place to discuss it. So she went to Julie, who was at a loss for words as to why she hadn't come to them for help as they were friends after all. And because they were in the studio when Flynn approached Julie about it, the boys overheard everything.
"Okay back up, what do you mean she's covered in bruises?" Alex had asked, a little confused as to why a couple of bruises were a worry to them.
"Yeah we all know she's clumsy, could it not be because of that?" Reggie piped up.
"I doubt it when the bruises are shaped like fingers" Flynn shot back, the worry for her friend the cause of her rudeness towards Reggie.
"And the way she has been hiding them, if it was just because of her clumsiness then why would she feel the need to hide them" Julie added, her eyes drifting over to Luke who had been way too quiet considering this was his girlfriend they were discussing but when her eyes found him, she found him lost in thought as if he was going back through his memory to try and find anything that could point to what was happening to their friend. Julie didn't blame him as she'd done the same.
"Wait, do you guys think you could follow her just for a little bit, see if you can figure out what's going on" Flynn suggested, perking up at the thought of getting answers so that they could help her.
"But she can see us.." Alex spoke cautiously as if it wasn't already obvious.
"Yeah but no-one else can so you'd have to be close enough to see but far enough away that she doesn't catch you" Flynn explained and she'd barely finished talking before Luke had poofed out of the studio, clearly with a place in mind of finding her.
Luke knew that she like to spend an hour or so after school in the library to catch up on homework so that once she left the schoolgrounds she didn't have to worry about completing it, which meant she could focus on other things like the band or sneaking off with him. When he landed in the library it was quiet, there was a couple of people in there but she wasn't one of them and a glance at the clock told him she had either already left or she didn't come today. Although something was nagging at him, he was sure she'd mentioned this morning that she'd be joining them at Julie's once she'd finished her English Lit essay so he decided just out of curiosity to wander around the halls just to see if he could find her.
A commotion a little further down the hallway drew his attention and when he turned the corner, not only did he come face to face with the source of it but he found her. She was in the middle of a circle of people, kids he'd never seen before but assumed went to school with her, Julie and Flynn only from the looks on their faces he could tell they were anything but friendly and as he got closer he could hear what they were saying which only confirmed that he was right.
"You're not even that good a singer, I don't know why they haven't kicked you out of the band yet"
"Yeah, you don't really fit in with them, they'd be better off finding someone else"
"And that guitarist, Luke was it, god knows what he sees in you I bet he'd be better off with Julie" a final one spoke as they leaned forward to tug on the oversized hoodie she was wearing.
That was enough for Luke, he'd seen enough, heard enough but he couldn't understand how a teacher or anyone else hadn't heard it and at least come to her rescue as it wasn't like he could do much because no-one could see him. He had to do something, couldn't risk them saying or doing anything else but at least he could tell them back at the studio that their fears had been right. Figuring that if he made enough noise that it sounded like someone was heading their way it'd probably get them to back off enough for her to leave he started banging on the lockers closest to him to make it sound like someone was there hearing everything that was being said and when he chanced a look around the corner he saw that his plan had worked for once.
He could see the group giving each other panicked looks, she was also looking in his direction and when she met his eyes he was quick to wave her over. Thankfully they let her go without a word, obviously not wanting to take the chance of being caught out as bullies and she sighed out in relief as she rounded the corner finally away from their torment.
Only her relief was short lived as she realised that she'd now have to explain what had been going on. Embarrassment and guilt flooded though her as she turned back to Luke as she was expecting to be met with a lecture telling her that she should have told them but instead he was quick to sweep her into a hug letting her know she was safe.
Eventually she would have to explain the full extent of what had been going on but at least now it was going to get better and hopefully with the help of her friends she could put a stop to the bullying.

“How come you always end up under my blanket?” and “I just wanted to make sure you’re okay.” for willex 🥺
HI HELLO PLEASE IGNORE THE FACT THAT THIS ASK IS FROM NEARLY 6 MONTHS AGO! ENJOY!
Alex hesitates for a moment, then uses his key to let himself into his dorm room. He's been keeping his distance for the last couple of days, since his roommate has the flu. Willie had offered to let Alex have their dorm when he first threw up the other day, but Alex had immediately refused. No way was he going to make his roommate move while they were running a 101-degree fever. So he's crashed at Reggie and Bobby's place the last two nights.
However, he's starting to worry about his roommate. Well, his friend. Maybe his best friend. Or second best, Reggie is hard to beat in that department. And... okay yes, he definitely has a crush on Willie. But that isn't the point. The point is that he cares about Willie and wants to make sure he's okay. At first, Willie had been responding to his texts and repeating that he should stay away. They didn't want Alex to catch the flu too. But Willie hasn't responded in like 8 hours. Alex is done waiting around.
Alex takes a deep breath and turns the key in the lock. The dorm room is dark, the lights off and the curtains drawn over the window. At first, Alex isn't sure that Willie is even there. Their bed is a mess of blankets and twisted sheets, but seems to be empty. The whole room smells sick. Alex heads for the window, figuring he might as well air the room out while Willie is... somewhere else. But a groan distracts him before he gets there.
He turns around to find his roommate curled up in his own bed. Willie's dark hair, usually shiny and wild, is splayed limply over Alex's light grey pillowcase. Their broad shoulders are bare except for the corner of Alex's light pink comforter. Half of the blanket hangs off the side of the bed. His legs are sweaty and twisted up in the top sheet.
In short, Willie looks awful. And also happens to be in Alex's bed.
"Who's'ere?" Willie mumbles, shifting in what looks like an attempt to sit up.
"It's just me," Alex says quickly. He shoves aside the thoughts of Willie being in his bed in... a different situation. Oh gosh no, NOT like that. Just, like... curling into Alex's side, falling asleep in each other's arms, waking up to their breath against his cheek. Ugh, Alex seriously had to do something about those daydreams, this was getting ridiculous.
"'lex?" Willie slurs, blinking. "What're you doing here? You're gonna get sick."
"I mean, you're the one in my bed," Alex points out before he can stop himself. Oh gosh, really? That's what he said?
To Alex's surprise, Willie giggles. "Your bed? This is my bed."
"Uhhh, pretty sure it's not," Alex says slowly. "I've definitely been sleeping there since we moved in."
"Well how come you always end up under my blankets then?" Willie retorts. "My blankets wouldn't be on your bed, so this is my bed."
Alex stares at his roommate for a second. Do they really not realize they're on Alex's bed? Under his blankets? "Um, what was your fever last time you checked?" he asks.
"Like 103, why?" Willie responds, swaying back and forth a bit as he tries to sit up.
"Okay no, lay back down." Alex hurried to Willie's side and helped him settle on the pillows. His pillows. He rests the back of his hand against Willie's forehead. "Willie, you're burning up," he says softly. "You need to keep resting."
Willie sighs. "I know. I just don't wanna. Don't like being cooped up."
They roll onto their side, pulling the blankets up around his shoulders. Alex wants to hug him, hold him close till he feels better. But that would kind of defeat the whole quarantine idea, cause he would definitely get sick if he did that.
"You didn't answer my question," Willie adds after a moment. "Or... I don't think you did? What are you doing here?"
Alex hesitates, then goes with the truth. "I just wanted to make sure you're okay."
The tired little smile Willie gives him melts his heart a bit. "You're really sweet, Lexi, you know that?" Willie mumbles. "The sweetest. Probably taste better than ice cream if I kiss you."
Their eyelids are already drooping as the words escape their mouth. That's probably for the best since Alex's face is turning bright red. Kissing Willie... wouldn't that be the dream. But Willie is running a crazy fever right now. It probably doesn't mean anything... right?
He tucks the blankets in around his roommate and takes out some of the dirty dishes to wash. Regardless of his crush, he cares about Willie. And he's gonna take care of him as best he can.
Within reason. Alex refuses to get the flu for the fourth year in a row.
(Thank you for the Ask, Shelly. I'm so sorry it took so long!!!!)

I know about a lot of your WIPs, obviously, but for the WIP titles game, tell me about The Song you Sing in the Shadows because I don't think I know that one?
You might know it without realizing you know it LOL, although I haven't talked about it in some time. This was what I tentatively titled my Vampire!Reggie fic, which was basically... The boys died from vamps instead of hot dogs, Reggie got turned instead of killed, has to spend the next 25 years adjusting and trying to forget his best friends. When Julie finds their old demo album and accidentally summons Luke and Alex as ghosts, Reggie is not prepared. I still go back and poke at this one sometimes, but it turned into something really daunting and kind of got backburnered. (I also started a different vampire Reggie fics in the meantime, wondering if I should just scrap this one as Too Much, but in the end, I couldn't do it, so I keep hoping I'll go back and really give it the time and attention it deserves one of these days!) snippet:
He hears the approaching footsteps, the sound of a steady heartbeat, like something out of a dream. It drags him out of the darkness he's trying to drown himself in, makes the torrent of tears slow, then stop. Reggie has the half-hearted idea that he should move, he should run, because anybody who finds him like this is going to think he's homeless or dangerous (he guesses maybe he's both, now), but he doesn't want to move.
Let them come, he thinks. What's the worst they can do?
"Reggie?" he hears, and it startles him enough that he looks up, blinks through wavery vision to see the young woman coming towards him until she's close enough to kneel beside him. "It's Reggie, right? Your name?" Her voice is soft. Accented. He recognizes it, but it takes him a long, addled moment to place her.
"Rose?"
"Dios mío," she breathes. "I heard what happened to your friends, but you weren't with them when the ambulance came, everyone said it was just two from the band, and I feared… So I came looking." She places a hand on his arm. He blinks down at it, confused, thoughts moving too slow for whatever is happening right now. "Come, we need to leave the streets. I can help you."
Reggie doesn't know how anyone can help him now, but she's been the single bright spot since this nightmare began and at this point, he thinks he'd be willing to follow her anywhere, if only to have some sort of direction.
"I can hear your heartbeat," he tells her, very quietly, as they walk.
There is the slightest hitch in her step, something Reggie isn't even sure he would have noticed if his senses weren't dialed up as much as they are. It's easier to focus on her movements than the blinding streetlights or the blazing club signs or the cars…so many cars and they're all so loud. "I know," Rose finally says.
Reggie stares at her, the clench of her jaw and the tightness around her eyes and the purposeful way she's walking. But it's her heartbeat he notes above all, the way it remains entirely steady. "Why aren't you scared?" Because he's still oscillating between numb and terrified out of his mind, and it might be nice to have some company there.
She darts a glance at him, frowning. "You're not hungry yet, are you?"
Hungry. God, in all the time since he woke up and realized what happened, what had been done to him, he somehow never stopped to consider the connotations hungry would have for him now.
"No…not really." The street dog dinner he'd been looking forward to feels a million years away from this moment, and the only thing he's feeling in his stomach is gut-roiling nausea.
"Then I've got nothing to fear," Rose says.

things you said with no space between us + OT3 of your choice
Julie didn't know a ghost could get so pale.
Maybe it's just shocking because she's used to seeing Reggie with a perpetual flush, which is probably the part that shouldn't be possible. It makes it easy to forget that he's dead when he usually looks and acts so…bright, so alive.
Now he just looks wrong, still and small.
And his eyes are dreadfully vacant.
Luke grasps his shoulders, guitars forgotten, and frowns as another crack of thunder makes Reggie shudder.
"Reg, you're okay, you're here with us—"
Julie scurries over to Alex as Luke continues to murmur to Reggie. Alex is also watching concernedly, hovering beside his drum kit. She clutches his arm.
"What's wrong, what can we do?"
They grimace in sympathy as the wind begins to howl and Reggie starts to shake.
Alex blows out a breath. "Astraphobia. It's—we think the sounds overwhelm him with like, bad memories of being home."
Julie lets out a distressed whine. She meets Luke's eyes and sees the same emotions that are churning in her gut.
"And? Isn't there anything we can do?"
"We could pull out the couch bed," Luke suggests, "if we hold him, it usually helps."
She makes up her mind in an instant.
"Take him to my room. Mess up the bed if you have to, turn on all of the lights, I don't care. Do whatever might help."
Luke poofs them away. She turns to Alex.
"Do you think you could take me?"
He swallows. "I mean, I can try—"
"If you can't, that's okay. I just don't want…if I ran through the rain, it'd take me longer before…"
"I get it," he says softly, and Julie wraps him in a grateful hug. "If it works, I'll poof you there and then I'll head out. Too many people might just overwhelm him and—"
"And you want to keep looking for Willie."
He blows out another breath. "Yeah."
She squeezes him tighter, burying a small smile in his hoodie as he does it back.
"Okay. Just…be careful, Alex."
"I will," he murmurs, and they hurtle through space in the blink of an eye, but he keeps her steady. "I promise."
Then he's gone, and she stumbles over to her bed, aided by the cozy lamplight.
She crawls under the covers, where Luke already has Reggie pressed to his chest. He speaks softly in his ear, running his hands up and down Reggie’s back.
"It's okay, baby, you're safe, we're in Julie's room. Everything is gonna be alright."
Did he just…?
Okay, not that important right now.
Julie bites her lip. "How should I…"
"You can wrap around him from behind—let me just—"
With a bit of wriggling and maneuvering, they get Reggie tucked between them.
As she'd hoped, the storm is less loud than it'd been in the studio, and her curtains are closed, preserving the coziness of her room and muffling the sounds even more.
"He's shaking much less," Julie murmurs, idly rubbing Reggie’s arm. "Is that good?"
"Yeah, but—"
A particularly nasty clap of thunder makes Luke suck in a breath.
"We need to keep talking. Singing, something. He should come out of it then."
CRACK.
They're plunged into total darkness, and Julie and Luke both make soothing sounds as Reggie lets out a little distressed noise.
"We've got you," she says softly, and it's probably too soft but it's what he needs. "Baby, come back, we'll keep you safe."
Luke hums, and her heart skips. It's wanted to escape this whole time, but she's been forcing herself to breathe evenly and keep it calm for Reggie’s sake.
Luke doesn't push it either, though.
He goes from humming to singing, and his voice thrums with the same gentle warmth it'd held when they sang this in the kitchen.
Your eyes, through the night, you and I
Julie jumps in on the next line, singing through a smile, and she knows he is, too.
We will fight to shine together
They make it through a verse and another chorus before Reggie jerks. Breathlessly, he asks them something about angels.
"No," Luke says, then pauses. "Well—maybe one. Julie's here, after all."
Julie just huffs, pressing her face between Reggie’s shoulder blades. "Are you okay?"
Reggie's voice comes out clearer, but it's very small. She's sure they'd be squeezing him too hard if he actually needed to breathe, but he doesn't seem to mind.
"Um. Would you—keep singing to me?"
"Of course," she and Luke chorus.
She wonders if he had to bite off baby, too.
Judging by the way he clears his throat...she wants to say that the answer is yes.

Autumn prompt! 14 for your most self-indulgent rare-pair. =D
ty for this!! your prompts are fantastic and i had a lot of fun working on this one. i went with luke/bobby because i love them very much but also i don’t think i’ve written them before? which had to be fixed immediately, of course. enjoy!
14. Every time I come home there are more tiny pumpkins everywhere and it’s driving me insane
There’s a pumpkin on the counter.
Luke stares at it for several long seconds. Then, when he’s reasonably sure he’s not imagining it, he pokes it. The pumpkin wobbles a little bit. He jumps back as if it shocked him.
Thing is, this isn’t the first time it’s happened. It’s not even the first time this week. Somehow, over the course of the past month, Luke’s apartment has become home to at least a dozen tiny little pumpkins in varying shapes and colours. Luke is fairly sure he’s not bringing them home and he doubts his goldfish is responsible for it, which means that someone has been breaking into his place just to leave them behind, and the fact that he doesn’t know who it is is driving him insane.
It’s not that he doesn’t like the pumpkins. They’re kind of cute, actually, and they have a habit of showing up only when he’s having a bad day. The sight of a new one always cheers him up, even if he does think the fact that he doesn’t know how they get there is a little creepy.
Luke pokes the latest addition again. It’s bright orange and small enough to fit into the palm of his hand. This time, it wobbles enough to turn around, showing the smiley face carved into one side.
Luke grins and picks the pumpkin up, inspecting it closely. He forgets all about his shitty work day as he lets his fingers slide over the neatly carved ridges.
Whoever is leaving these pumpkins behind definitely knows how to cheer him up. He just wishes he knew who it was.
Suddenly, a loud noise comes from Luke’s bathroom, followed by a muffled curse. Luke nearly drops his pumpkin. It only takes him a moment to recover, reach for a spatula, and turn towards the bathroom.
Spatula raised and pumpkin cradled close to his chest, he advances on the bathroom. The door is opened slightly, but he can’t make out who is in there. Either he has a burglar in his house, or his benevolent pumpkin bringer is behind that door.
“Who’s in there?” He asks once he’s a few feet away. For a few seconds, everything is silent. Then, he hears a sigh and sees the door swing open.
“No way.” Luke stares at the intruder. He slowly lowers his spatula. “It’s you?”
Bobby smiles weakly, waving with his free hand. The other is clutching a shower curtain with pumpkins printed all over it. The curtain is partially attached to the rod in Luke’s bathroom. Clearly, he caught Bobby in the middle of hanging it up.
“Surprise,” Bobby says, scratching the back of his neck. “I, uh, I didn’t plan on being here when you got home. Guess it took me longer than expected to figure this out.”
“You made this?” Luke asks, holding up the tiny pumpkin.
Bobby nods.
“And the ones on my kitchen table, were they from you as well?”
Bobby nods again.
“And the green one on my nightstand, and the super tiny one in the pocket of my jacket?”
Bobby nods.
“And the one in your living room, and on those bookshelves - which you need to clean, by the way, they’re super dusty - and the one in your shoe.”
They both wince. Luke hadn’t found that one quickly enough and ended up with mashed pumpkin all over his foot.
“Why?” Luke asks, after cycling through a billion questions in his mind. This one feels like it covers everything he wants to know.
Bobby shrugs. He’s still holding the shower curtain.
“I don’t know, I just thought they might cheer you up a little. I know you’ve been having a rough few weeks, so I borrowed Alex’s key and brought you these. Reggie texted me earlier to say you were having a bad day. I just wanted to drop these off and get out. You weren’t supposed to see me.”
Luke slowly places the spatula in the bathroom sink. He doesn’t need to ask why Bobby didn’t want him to figure this out. Bobby has always been a giant softy on the inside, but he hides it behind a tough layer of swagger and sarcasm. The only reason Luke noticed it at all is that he’s been halfway in love with Bobby for months now and has dedicated way more time than he should’ve to the study of Bobby Shaw.
The point is that Bobby never lets anyone know how much he cares, and he’d never take the credit for singlehandedly brightening Luke’s entire month. Not unless Luke makes him. Not unless Luke’s intuition about why Bobby went to such extremes is right.
“I’m glad I did,” Luke says softly. “See you, that is.”
The pumpkin joins the spatula in the sink. Luke gently pries the shower curtain from Bobby’s fingers. It falls to the ground, held up by one single point.
“And I’m really happy with the pumpkins,” he adds. “They definitely cheered me up.”
“Good,” Bobby breathes out. He raises a hand and cups Luke’s cheek. Luke tangles his fingers together with Bobby’s other hand, tugging him closer. Looks like his intuition was definitely right.
“Luke, I-”
Luke doesn’t let him finish, cutting him off with a kiss. He has a feeling he knows what Bobby wants to say, anyway.
Bobby tastes like the pumpkin cookies he left in Luke’s fridge. Later, once the shower curtain is hung up properly, they’ll curl up on Luke’s couch and eat them together. They’ll plan a date to go to the pumpkin patch Bobby has been frequenting.
For now, though, they kiss and hold on to each other, the pumpkin in the bathroom sink long forgotten.
send me some autumn prompts!

Watching a horror movie huddled in a blanket for Writer's Choice!
The sounds of popcorn microwaving and Julie clattering around in the kitchen echoed from the kitchen. Flynn flipped through the many movie options they had available, making snide comments under their breath from time to time. Carrie watched and waited from her chair, solidly trying to ignore the uneasy feeling in her stomach.
It’d been a while since she had been over to the Molina’s. Even longer since she’d been inside or stayed for a movie night. She’d shown up at the same time their movie nights used to always start only to be told they had to wait for the guy’s.
It wasn’t the only change. Though the rest of the changes were more subtle. Carrie pouted as she looked across the room taking them all in. The TV was newer, there were more photos on the wall, the paint had been changed.
Overall it still managed to feel like the same house but she felt wrong in it. LIke she no longer had a place in it. Which was ridiculous. Flynn and Julie both had invited her to be here, and she’d been hanging out with them and the guys more and more over the past few months.
Not that she felt any better during any of those hang outs. Constantly worried about lashing out or saying the wrong thing she always ended up stiffly pouting or glaring on the sidelines. She’s honestly surprised they kept inviting her, she couldn’t be much fun to be with.
Just when she began to think the fond nostalgic familiarity of the Molina room might help relax her, the boys loudly announced their arrival. She immediately stiffened, and caught herself striking a pose to reflect a nonchalance she didn’t feel at all.
“Movie night.” Luke and Reggie cheered as they collapsed onto the couch. Alex and Willie went to see if Julie needed help carrying the snacks. Maybe she should have thought of that.
“Oh! Hey Carrie.” Luke smiled at her as Reggie waved, both of them smiling under those puppy dog stares of theirs. She’s not sure why they always looked so happy to see her. Then he excitedly shouted toward the kitchen, “Carrie’s here!”
“Hell yeah.” Alex and Willie both shouted back. Their excitement made a little more sense. She, Alex, and Willie had all found some common ground for dance, despite their differences in training and style.
They were also the only ones other than Flynn who could keep up with her sarcasm or didn’t shy away from her snark.
“You here for movie night?” Reggie bounced in his seat close to the middle of the couch. A small space between him and where Luke leaned into the corner had to be reserved for Julie.
Which would leave almost a whole half of a couch free. Room for Alex and Willie, and possibly Flynn. A crowded couch which she probably couldn’t fit on.
Carrie’s lips pursed involuntarily, reminding herself she’d been invited and wanted and to not make assumptions.
She snapped her gaze back to Reggie, hoping the silence hadn’t been too long. His smile didn’t seem to have faltered any. “Yep,” she answered stiffly, “I guess it’s Flynn's turn to pick?”
Reggie's smile wavered at the edges, Luke dove over the side of the couch digging through the pile of blankets there. Willie cackled as they, Alex, and Julie returned from the kitchen placing their haul of snacks on the coffee table. Then they all settled into the couch almost exactly where Carrie thought they all would.
Flynn’s laugh joined Willie’s as they moved to sit in the spot between Willie and Reggie. They dodged the blanket Luke threw towards Alex, “that’s right and today we are continuing are exploration of Christmas horror films.”
Carrie’s mouth ran dry, as her grip on the arm of the chair tightened. She prayed her expression remained neutral. Then wondered what the best way to hide behind a pillow without getting caught might be as her eyes drifted to the TV, waiting for Flynn to start the movie.
And waited.
Why weren’t they starting the movie?
“Why are you still over there?” Julie’s voice drew her focus back to the couch, everyone staring at her expectantly.
Carrie’s brows furrowed, a strange warmth swelling in her chest, “there doesn’t seem to be much room.”
“So?” Luke scoffed.
Reggie shifted uncertainly in his seat like he wasn’t sure which way to go as he earnestly supplied, “we can make room.”
Alex groaned, but pressed himself further into his corner of the couch, “just let us know where you want to sit.”
Carrie hesitated, torn between old instincts and new wants. Fighting back every urge to just roll her eyes and demand she was fine on her own. She knew full well how much she hated most horror movies.
Flynn’s hand tapping the small space between herself and Reggie was what finally got her to move. An unspoken invitation and reminder how she was wanted. Reggie and Flynn were quick to move to give her as much space as they could.  Though Carrie did still end up mostly cuddled into Flynn’s lap, not that she was complaining.
Reggie threw a portion of one the blankets across her lap and his as Flynn finally started the movie. Carrie honestly wouldn’t have been able to tell you what it was about. Since she had spent most of the movie hiding behind Flynn’s braids under the guise of playing with them.

wip (amnesty) wednesday
so... i have a lot of ideas. and most of these ideas are just sort of wasting away in my google drive in folders upon folders upon folders... and i don’t know if or when i’ll ever get around to writing them so i thought: why not share them anyway?
idk how long i’ll keep up with this but for starters, here’s the rukebox mob au i came up with in june 2021 after watching one trailer for the sopranos prequel:
(this is LONG so most of it will be under the cut and yes this is how i plot, i’m insane, i know)
Reggie's the son of the mafia boss, Julie's his high school sweetheart, and Luke's a musician who works in one of his family's clubs. Willie is Reggie's best friend, who is also close with the family and is sort of Reggie's right hand man (even though Reggie really does Not want to be involved with mob business) and helps to run the club where Luke (and Alex and Carrie) work.
Alex and Willie start dating in secret, because neither of them are Out, and Reggie discovers them one day and Alex just fully bolts while Willie begs Reggie not to say anything to anyone. Reggie swears he won't, he wouldn't, but Willie needs to be careful. the mob doesn't exactly have a record of being friendly towards the LGBTQIA+ community and Reggie's afraid of what might happen if his dad was to find out that Willie is gay and screwing one of the male musicians at the club.
it also doesn't help that Reggie's secretly been battling his own sexuality crisis. ever since Luke started working at the club, Reggie's been having these feelings he can't figure out. he loves Julie, he always has. he wants to marry her someday, but sometimes Luke just Looks at him and Reggie forgets how to function.
when Reggie goes home to Julie that night, she can tell something's off. he tries to brush her off but she knows him too well. she's not going to leave it alone until he tells her what's wrong. she keeps pressing and asking and finally he just blurts out that he thinks he might be bisexual! Julie's thrown for a bit of a loop and Reggie starts to panic and apologize, rambling on and on about how he loves her so much but he just has these Feelings He Can't Explain and it's been weighing on him for weeks, ever since Luke started working at the club, and finally Julie just grabs him and is like REGGIE. it's okay!!
she had a feeling all along. she knows he loves her, but she's not blind. she's seen the way Luke looks at him, the way Reggie looks at him when he thinks nobody's watching. she's not mad. if she's honest… she thinks Luke is cute, too. Reggie gets down on his knees and clutches at her, begging her not to tell anyone, not to leave him, he doesn't know what he'd ever do without her. Julie laughs and plays with his hair to calm him down, telling him over and over that she's not going anywhere.
"you being bisexual doesn't change anything. you're still you. and I love you."
Julie pulls him back up to his feet and he kisses her, so relieved that she understands. she gets it. she gets him. he's so fucking lucky to have her.
"about Luke…" she teases, smirking at Reggie as his cheeks go pink. "have you ever thought about…" she wiggles her eyebrows and Reggie fully balks. like, of course his fantasies have gotten a little wild once or twice, but he never ever thought he'd have to admit it. and now here Julie is asking him point blank, encouraging him to talk about it. Reggie's pretty sure his head's going to explode.
she takes him into their bedroom and keeps goading him on, asking what he'd do if he had both of them here together, her and Luke. Reggie's never even thought about that before and now that it's in his head, out there in the open, god. it's all he wants.
and to his surprise, Julie seems to want it too.
the following weekend, Julie comes to the club in her best dress, one that she knows Reggie loves. Luke's there, of course, and so is Reggie. he's stunned to see her because she didn't tell him she was coming, and she smiles at him and says that was all part of her plan. she's here to do some recognizance of her own when it comes to Luke, and Reggie chokes on air.
she stays glued to Reggie's side but keeps her eyes fixed on Luke. she catches him looking at them over and over again - and every single time she turns and whispers in Reggie's ear that he should go talk to him. she smiles at Luke whenever she catches his eye, and the way he keeps looking at Reggie - at both of them - leads her to believe that maybe she really was right. he might be into this more than she thought.
but when the band takes a break, Reggie flat out refuses to go talk to Luke ("I can't we're at my family's club people will see"). so Julie stands up and declares that she'll do it, and she walks away before Reggie can stop her. he should've known better, honestly. she's so fucking headstrong and stubborn when she wants to be. even if Luke wants nothing to do with them, she'd probably be able to convince him otherwise in twenty minutes flat.
Reggie just watches in horror as she walks over to him and strikes up a conversation, leaning in too close and god, Reggie wishes more than anything that he had the guts to follow. he so desperately wants to know what they're talking about. he watches Luke's face go from surprise to curious to a fucking lethal smirk in the span of a few minutes, and when he looks over at Reggie and discovers him watching, the smirk gets even bigger.
Reggie is pretty sure he's going to die tonight. just right here on the spot.
Luke definitely goes home with them that night, and Reggie's never been so happy and so fucking terrified in his life. his family can never find out about this.
but one day, a few weeks later, he gets called into his father's office. alone. Reggie immediately starts to panic, because he's certain that somehow his dad's found out about him and Julie and Luke. he has no idea what else this could be about.
it turns out that someone spotted Alex and Willie together the day before, and his dad wants to know why Reggie didn't know about it. and if he did know about it, why he didn't come to him with this information before he had to hear it from some lowlife. Reggie splutters, his mind is reeling, and he starts defending Willie and Alex immediately. saying them falling in love shouldn't have any effect on the family or the business or ANYTHING-- and his dad fights to interrupt his rambling just to tell him that he doesn't give a flying fuck who Willie is screwing, he just wants them to keep it professional at the club.
and Reggie… can't believe what he's hearing. "what???" "what what? Willie's a good boy. he does good work." his dad shrugs. "what do i care who he screws? just tell him not to do that shit in front of the customers and we got no problems." and, well, Reggie's offended on their behalf, but he doesn't argue with his dad. this is the most understanding he's ever known him to be, and he's not about to rock the boat.
he asks his dad why he thought he'd know about it, and his dad's like "willie's your best friend, whaddya mean you didn't know?" and Reggie goes red. maybe his dad knows him a little better than he thought he did.
his dad tells him he's free to go, just pass the message onto Willie that he's not in trouble or nothing. Reggie sighs in relief and turns to go, but there's something holding him back. there's a voice in his head saying this is your fucking chance you idiot you better fucking take it.
he turns back to his dad and says "i've got something i gotta tell you."
his dad slumps in his chair and sighs. "who did you knock up?" "what?!" "if you knocked somebody up, you gotta do the right thing--" "dad, i didn't--" "i'm just sayin, you can't go 'round knockin' girls up and--" "DAD I DIDN'T KNOCK ANYBODY UP FOR FUCK'S SAKE I'M TRYING TO TELL YOU I LIKE GUYS!"
and… reggie freezes. he didn't mean to blurt it out like that. his dad just stares at him for a moment and then his face twists with confusion. "hang on. ain't you still dating that julie molina?" and Reggie gulps. "are you making a fool of that girl, because if you are i'm gonna--" "no, dad! fuck! i like girls AND guys."
his dad sits back in his chair and hums. he stays silent for a long while and then lets out a huge sigh and shrugs. "ok." "ok??" "ok. you're still dating julie, ain'tcha?"
reggie nods, absolutely baffled with how this conversation is going. his dad shrugs again and waves him out, effectively saying their talk is now over. Reggie exits the office and slumps against the door, trying to figure out just what the fuck happened in there.
he goes home that night and finds Luke already in the kitchen with Julie, the two of them making dinner for the three of them. they both light up when Reggie comes in, and as soon as Julie asks him how his day was, Reggie just blurts out "I told my dad I'm bi."
Julie drops the utensil she was holding and Luke gapes. neither of them ever expected he'd do that. Luke's the first to speak, he cracks a joke about if he should be on the lookout for a little red dot from a sniper, and it breaks the tension.
Reggie tells them that it went oddly well, he thinks? his dad seemed more relieved about him not knocking up some random stranger than wanting to sleep with guys and girls. Julie hugs Reggie tightly and tells him she's so proud of him, and Luke does the same. Reggie breathes a sigh of relief. they still have to keep their relationship on the down low, but at least he's made progress. it's a start.

Close my eyes and feel my chest beating like thunder
This is the first part of a one-shot! You can the whole piece one AO3
Julie closes her eyes in the middle of her line, and Luke watches from the auditorium seats. It’s the Nunnery scene, and Ophelia is speaking in the moments between Hamlet’s (Luke’s) exit and King Claudius’s (Alex) and Polonius’s (Bobby’s) reentry. Julie is auditioning, though most of the parts were cast last week. Mrs. Harrison, high school English teacher and volunteer community theater director, was hellbent on finding the perfect Ophelia, and finally, Carrie (Queen Gertrude) convinced her on-again-off-again friend Julie to audition for the part. She promised Mrs. Harrison that Julie is amazing, and Luke didn’t miss the jealous roll of Carrie’s eyes as the words left her mouth. Luke is pretty sure Carrie wouldn’t have brought up Julie at all if Ophelia didn’t die before Queen Gertrude.
Based on the sparkle currently present in Mrs. Harrison’s eye, Julie has the part. At least, Luke hopes this is true. He’s never seen Julie so confident before, and she killed the small monologue. He can’t wait to see how she handles Act IV Scene V.
Luke doesn’t know Julie Molina that well. He knows she’s friendly with Alex, his bandmate in Sunset Curve — or as Julie constantly miscalls them, Sunset Swerve — and that Reggie, one of his other bandmates, has a ginormous crush on Carrie. And they get thrown together every so often, only being a year apart at the local liberal arts college, but every time it’s almost just the two of them — Alex hurrying away from the conversation to meet his boyfriend or Reggie and Flynn sneaking off to pull a prank that Julie would disapprove of — Julie finds an excuse to leave. He thought for a while that she might hate him, but Alex says she just takes time to warm up to new people. Reggies says she’s just skittish. Bobby, the final member of Sunset Curve, thinks she’s just weird. Lately, Luke tends to take Bobby’s sullen opinions with a grain of salt.
Mrs. Harrison starts clapping as Julie finishes with, “To have seen what I have seen, see what I see!”
Luke, Alex, and Reggie — Guildenstern — clap along with her, while Carrie files her nails, Bobby slouches in his seat, Nick — Laertes — looks to be half-asleep — and Flynn — Rosencrantz, costume designer, and Julie’s best friend — just sits with her head in her hands and an amazed smile on her face. Once Flynn realizes the scene is over and she can stop fawning, she lets out a few loud cries of admiration.
“While I’m sure the part is yours, I’d like to try you out opposite Luke to see your chemistry. Have you read over act three scene two?” Mrs. Harrison asks.
Luke would call her Marci — her first name, and what everyone else calls her — but he grew up in the area and had her for tenth grade English. She’ll always be Mrs. Harrison to him. She’s the one who got him into community theater during high school, and he’s been participating on and off ever since.
He met Reggie and Alex in college, but he’s known Bobby since they were kids running around with blow-up guitars that were supposed to be pool floaties.
Alex met Carrie a little under a year ago, towards the end of last year, their junior year of college; she was a freshman and had just started dating Nick, a fellow freshman, and was rooming with Julie and Flynn, also fellow freshmen. Carrie latched on to the community theater right away, bringing Nick and Flynn along with her. This is the first time Luke has seen Julie anywhere near his old high school’s auditorium.
“Yes,” Julie answers in the quiet voice he has come to associate with her.
Luke is fascinated with how immediately the confidence fell away.
“Luke?” Mrs. Harrison gestures to the stage.
Luke grabs his copy of the script, jogs up to the stage, and jumps up instead of taking the stage, energy already taking over his body. He smiles at Julie, but she just stares at the floor, her booklet already turned to the correct scene.
“Julie,” Mrs. Harrison starts, “can you grab that chair from upstage? I’d like to see you two act it out physically as well.”
Julie looks behind her, walks to the chair, and drags it back to where Luke is standing. The chair squeaks against the stage floor that Julie can’t seem to look up from. She sits, eyes still downcast.
“We’ll take it from ‘Come hither, my dear Hamlet’ and end with, ‘Nay, ‘tis twice two months.’”
Luke nods. He sees Julie do the same, and moves to stand above her. She’s seated so her side is to the audience, this way Luke will never have to have his back to them.
Mrs. Harrison reads, “Come hither, my dear Hamlet, sit by me.”
“No, good mother,” Luke says to the audience before turning to Julie, “here’s metal more attractive.”
Luke gets down on his knees before he begins the next line, and as he speaks, he lets himself fall further, towards Julie’s feet as he looks at her face, a sly smile on his face. He asks, “Lady, shall I lie in your lap?”
The change in Julie’s demeanor is instantaneous. She goes from looking at the floor just next to Luke’s face to actually looking at Luke’s face, and her features soften as her confidence grows.
“No, my lord,” she responds with an even measure of indifference and irritation in her tone.
“I mean, my head upon your lap?” Luke rectifies as he lifts his head once more, moving toward her thighs.
Julie looks away from him, facing straight in front of her, but a hand lightly moves his head away. “Ay, my lord,” she says.
Luke rises, steps behind her chair, grabs the back, and turns the chair so it is now facing the audience. He drops his mouth to sit next to her ear, and asks in more of a drawl, “Do you think I meant country matters?”
Julie’s back straightens, but her gaze does not waver from the air in front of her.
“I think nothing, my lord.” Her words become slightly more laced with irritation.
Luke crouches next to her, as there are no more chairs on the stage, and faces the same direction she is. He lets a smirk play on his lips as he says, “That’s a fair thought to lie between maid’s legs.”
Julie’s head drops to check her script, but she keeps her gaze there as she asks, “What is, my lord?”
“Nothing,” he says quickly, raising his chin, keeping the smirk plastered on his face.
He sees Julie turn to face him in his peripheral, and he moves quickly to meet her gaze. She is unfazed by how close their faces are, but he is almost mesmerized by the intensity shining in her eyes. He gulps, waiting for her line, heart beating so loudly he thinks she can hear it, but she holds his gaze a moment too long, making him uncomfortable. He thinks this is the goal, and so he counters it by letting his eyes slowly move down and up, taking in every detail of her body beneath her nearly-sheer, white, anklet-length, spring dress.
“You are merry, my lord,” she says slowly once his eyes come back to hers.
“Who,” he draws out, once again meeting her in tempo and emotion, “I?”
“Ay, my lord,” she returns.
She raises a brow before returning her stare to the audience.
“Oh, God, your only jig-maker,” Luke says, still smiling, but then lets the smile fall. He looks away from Julie, once again following her gaze to the audience. “What should a man do but be merry? For, look you, how cheerfully my mother looks, and my father died within’s two hours.”
Julie, again, looks at him, he can see it, but he does not meet her gaze. He can’t see her face as clearly, but he knows she’s perfectly portraying an almost-hidden worry. She has to be.
“Nay, ‘tis twice two months, my lord.”
The scene is finally over, so he turns back to her, but she’s already looking at the stage floor, her face completely void of the confidence he was just facing. He knows Mrs. Harrison is going to cast her as Ophelia, and he is grateful. He thinks there’s so much more to Julie Molina than he previously thought. He wants nothing more than to stay on this stage and find it.

Chapter 8 Posted: 8/14/2022
Summary:
Phantoms, the new Network TV show, recently got picked up for its second season and filming is already underway. The show follows a special government unit tasked with dealing with the supernatural. The series will return Marci Harrison who portrays the lead detective in charge of a group of junior detectives (Reggie Peters, Alex Mercer, Kayla Caro), forensic scientists (Luke Patterson and Julie Molina), and a rookie detective (Flynn Rider).
Julie Molina is enjoying her time on Phantoms, the supernatural detective show. It had been her saving grace after being blacklisted from basically everywhere following her media feud with former Disney Channel costar Carrie Wilson that tanked her music career before it even started.
But with rumors that the show isn’t going to get a third season, Julie is worried about her career completely ending with no jobs or recording contracts in sight.
Add in the fact that even if they get a third season, Julie’s costar might leave the show and go off to pursue his music career.
And Julie is trying to understand why said costar potentially leaving is making her so upset.
Chapter 8 Summary: The aftermath of premiere night
Collection: JATP Big Band 2022

Keep Reading for an excerpt
Julie woke up to an obnoxiously loud pounding on her door. Checking her watch, she saw that it was just after nine. Maybe airing out all your issues and crying was good for sleep because she was out for a good ten hours.
The knocking continued and she groaned. It was time to get back to reality. And reality was doing what Bobby told her she needed to do, which was telling Luke and her friends what happened last night.
And it didn’t take a genius to know who was at the door.
Throwing the covers off of her, Julie rolled out of bed and her feet quickly padded against the floor as she ran to the door, avoiding any mirror so she didn’t see how bad she looked. She didn’t want to deal with this yet, but she also didn’t want any of her neighbors to get mad, or even worse, call the cops on her. Her place might have been more like condos than apartments, but she still had close neighbors connected to her place and they didn’t need to deal with this.
“Oh thank God you are alright!” Luke said once she opened the door. Despite his words, he didn’t look relieved. Instead, his face was a mix of anger and confusion.
She didn’t know what to say. “Hi.”
“Hi? That’s all you have to say? I thought something was wrong!” Luke raised his voice.
“Bobby told you that everything was okay,” she shot back. She didn’t like his tone.
“Yeah after I had lost my mind trying to get a hold of you. And apparently, you weren’t okay if you didn’t make it last night.”
“I’m okay,” she reiterated.
“I don’t get it, Jules, why weren’t you there last night? I wanted you there. You are my best friend!”
Julie didn’t answer him right away but instead went to the door behind him to close it, giving one of her neighbors walking by a small smile to show her that everything was alright.
“Do you not think I wanted to be there last night? Of course I did. I wanted to support you!”
“Then I don’t get what happened! Why weren’t you there last night and instead were with Bobby? I’ve been up all night trying to figure it all out.”
She had to do it. She had to rip the band-aid off. The mention of Bobby and of last night reminded her of what he told her. And he was right, she needed to tell everyone why. “I wasn’t there last night because I wasn’t invited.”
She saw the confusion in Luke’s eyes as if his brain was recalculating. With all of the scenarios last night, she was pretty sure that her not having an invite wasn’t one of them. She didn’t want to know what he had come up with.
“What are you talking about? Of course, you were,” Luke said, his brain finally catching up.
“No I wasn’t Luke, I didn’t get an invite,” she told him. She wanted to avoid telling him what his team had told hers. But she knew deep down that she wasn’t going to be able to.
“Then there must have been a miscommunication because of course you were. Your name was at the top of the list I gave my team.”
“There wasn’t a miscommunication Luke.”
“There had to have been. Why didn’t you say anything to me?”
He was starting to piss her off. “Because you were so fed up with people asking things about the premiere that you even had me promise you that I wouldn’t bring it up,” she shot back.
“I was frustrated with people asking me what celebrity was showing up when and if I knew who was going to be at what after party. This is completely different. I wouldn’t have been mad if you had asked me about why you for some reason didn’t get an invite.”
“Well I took your advice anyways and had my people call your people,” she reiterated, getting annoyed, and therefore, becoming sassier. “They told my people that my name was taken off the list on purpose. They thought that it would be best if I wasn’t there.”
“Why the hell would they-” Luke started to say but Julie gave him a look. He knew the reasoning, he had definitely heard it from his team before. “That is absolutely garbage, why didn’t you tell me they said that, I would have-”
“You would have what? Made it worse?”
“I would have told them to fuck off and to stop being fucking dicks.”
“Yeah, well maybe they have a point.”
“What point?”
“Maybe drama does follow me wherever I go. Maybe I will hurt your career. Luke, look how much drama I created in the last twenty-four hours.”
“This,” Luke pointed right at her. “Is not drama! It is absolute bullshit that I’m going to handle right now.” He went for his phone and pulled it out.
“Don’t! I’m over it already. It’s just going to make it worse.”
“Julie, this needs to be taken care of. It’s the premiere now, what will it be in the future? It will only get worse if I don’t do anything!” He yelled.
“Stop yelling at me!”

prompt list here
Luke had exactly one second to realize there was a tail coming his way, which was one second too slow. He didn’t have time to react and was suddenly flung back towards a wall, hitting it head first.
His vision blacked out for a moment and when it came back he was on the ground, his head on something soft. He looked up through blurry eyes, trying to make out what was in front of him, only to find Alex standing over him. No, sitting next to him? Wait, his head was on his knees. He had probably been out for more than just a moment.
“Hey!” Alex said, relieved to see him awake. “Are you alright? You hit your head pretty hard.”
Luke was about to answer, but the words didn’t seem to come as easy to him. It was enough for Alex’s worried expression to return.
“Luke? You’re with me?” he asked and Luke felt some kind of pressure on his head that made him hiss in pain and close his eyes momentarily.
“Yeah,” he slowly answered after a couple of seconds, his voice coming out hoarse and uncertain.
“Open your eyes for me,” Alex’s voice came again and even though that was pretty much the last thing Luke wanted right now, he tried to blink them open. Alex’s face was still a blurry shape over him and he tried to clear his vision as much as he could.
“The iratze worked enough to wake you up, you must have hit your head harder than I thought…” Alex said even though not every word registered in Luke’s injured head.
Maybe it was his confused expression or the fact that he didn’t answer or that he was still trying to focus on Alex’s face and was failing, but Alex didn’t look any more relieved about the fact that Luke had opened his eyes.
“Hey, Luke?” Alex said again and Luke really just wanted to go to sleep and not talk anymore. He hummed a little in response, wanting to at least show that he was trying. “What’s my name?”
And okay, that confused Luke even further because what kind of question was that? They were best friends, how could he not know his name?
When he tried to answer though, he hesitated. Because he knew the answer and it was in the tip of his tongue, but it was almost as if his thought process was going a bit too slow for him to give an immediate answer to such a simple question.
He blinked his eyes once more, trying to focus and move past the pain in his head. Because if he couldn’t answer a simple question, that meant things were probably bad. And maybe he couldn’t really pinpoint now how bad, but not knowing his best friend’s name didn’t seem like a good thing.
“Alex,” he breathed out eventually and Alex’s face relaxed a tiny bit because he’d gotten the right answer. Luke was just a little proud of himself.
“Okay, good,” he said. “And our other best friend?”
Luke whimpered a little, a headache building in his head as well as an unwillingness to answer more questions. But okay, he could do this, there were three of them, he knew that. The longer he willed his head to work, the better the answers were coming to him. Maybe the rune was working?
“Reggie,” he said, trying to breathe through the fogginess.
“Okay,” Alex said again, starting to sound more relaxed.
“And Bobby,” Luke added, breathing out once more and trying not to throw up or pass out. He was doing great for now.
“You’re answering the questions before I ask them, that’s good,” Alex said with a nod. “I’m gonna text Reggie to open us a portal, okay? I don’t think there’s any chance of us walking back to the Institute.”
“Portal?” Luke asked.
“Yeah, remember?” Alex said, already texting with one hand. “Reggie can open portals now. It’s helped us a lot.”
Yes, right, he remembered that. Reggie could create runes.
“It hurts,” he managed to say. Yes, he knew his friends’ names, but the pain in his head was prominent as ever.
“I know, the iratze might take a few moments to work fully. You’re gonna need to stay in bed tomorrow,” Alex said softly, putting his phone away again.
“Okay,” Luke murmured. Staying in bed right now sounded great actually.
“Okay?” Alex echoed, surprised. “How badly did you hit your head, man?”
Before Luke could even think of what to answer, he noticed in the corner of his eye something orange appearing, but it hurt his head too much to just stare straight at it. Orange. Portals were orange, right?
“Okay, Luke? We’re going to have to move,” Alex said. Luke couldn’t help but whimper in response. “I know, I know, but we have to get back. I promise you it’s gonna be much more comfortable than the ground.”
Luke closed his eyes with a resigned sigh, although opened them back up to look at Alex. They had to do this.
“Ready?” Alex asked.
And Luke really wasn’t, but they couldn’t just stay there.
Alex moved back carefully, slowly placing Luke’s head back on the ground. He took Luke’s hand, helping him start to get up and immediately wrapped his arm around his waist when Luke swayed the second he wasn’t lying down.
“Okay,” he said, supporting all of Luke’s weight who once again closed his eyes to stop everything from spinning. He really just needed to lie down again.
He felt more than saw Alex pulling him along and walking forward. The feeling of going through a portal was familiar, but in his current state one of the last things he wanted to do, only working to make his head spin more.
Next thing he knew, he was falling forward.
“Woah,” he heard Alex and someone held him upright again.
“You weren’t kidding!” another voice added.
“Why would I kid about something like that?”
Luke whimpered at the loud voices, not even bothering to open his eyes to see what’s going on. It was pretty much the last thing he wanted right now.
“Sorry,” came a whisper and then he was suddenly pushed on a bed softly, making him sigh. Alex was right, it was better than the ground.
“Hey, Luke,” came the same question from Alex once again. “Can you-”
“Alex, Reggie, Bobby,” Luke said without even opening his eyes.
“Okay and-”
“Julie. And Carrie and Flynn,” Luke mumbled again. “Good?”
He heard a little chuckle. “Amazing.”

Imagine your OTP with Character A secretly learning Character B’s mother language to say stupid pick-up lines to them / Rulie
Also for @innytoes who agrees this prompt is extremely Rulie coded.
“Damn you owl!” Reggie scowled as he tosses his phone across the couch.
“Did you get Rick Rolled by an owl?” Luke asked, not even looking up from the song he was working on.
“Something like that,” Reggie grumbled.
Alex picked up the phone, and bit back a grin as he saw the screen. “Bonita, not bonito.”
“Stupid feminization,” Reggie replied. “It’s screwed me up more than once.”
“Should I ask why?” Alex asked, nodding at the phone as he handed it to Reggie.
“I think you know why,” Reggie replied.
Willie peered over his shoulder and smiled. “Dude if you want to learn Spanish there is a whole ass family willing to teach you.”
“I want it to be a surprise,” Reggie replied.
“Also I doubt he wants to ask Ray how to flirt with Julie in Spanish,” Luke smirked.
Reggie sputtered at that, but it wasn’t like he could deny it. He figured if he hit Julie with truly epic lines in Spanish she might grant him a second glance. Or at least laugh in that way that he loved-all crinkly eyes and letting her smile shine.
But languages had never been his strong suit, and well there was only so much that Duolingo could teach him.
Yet he was still here, struggling along as he learned the basics, dog earring his Spanish English dictionary, and watching a lot of movies with subtitles turned on.
“This is a stupid plan isn’t it?” he asked.
“I think it’s adorable!” Willie proclaimed. “I know I would super appreciate it if a guy learned another language for me.”
“Even if it’s just to flirt?” Alex countered. “Because I can learn conversational Japanese if you want. Though you’d have an easier time learning German.”
“Anyways…” Reggie drawled before those two started at it again. But before he could continue that thought, they all heard the door to Julie’s house open, meaning she was headed this way for band practice.
“You got this Romeo,” Luke said, clapping on the back.
“Romeo was Italian,” Alex piped up.
“Zorro?”
“Close enough.”
With that they high tailed it out, greeting Julie, claiming they were going on a snack run. Despite the fact that Ray always kept the garage well stocked.
She shook her head as she entered the garage-she would never get these guys. But then she noticed Reggie, fiddling with the ends of his flannel, an almost queasy smile on his face. “Hey Reg.”
“Hola,” he replied. “¿Dónde están tus alas?”
“My what?” Julie asked with a giggle and Reggie hoped his pronunciation wasn’t as horrendous as he thought it was.
“Alas,” he repeated. “Porque eres un ángel.”
“Gracias,” she replied, a tiny blush painting her cheeks. “I didn’t know you spoke Spanish.”
“I’m still learning,” he stated. “I didn’t butcher it too badly did I?”
“It still has a pulse,” Julie said. “Can I ask why you decided to learn Spanish? I could have taught you.”
“I wanted to surprise you,” Reggie murmured.
“Well it’s a lovely surprise,” Julie said, looping her arms around his neck. “Though you need to work on rolling your R’s.”
“I can do that,” Reggie replied swaying them back and forth. “Rrrrrobot. Rrrrrribbit. Rrrrrreggie.”
Julie giggled, nuzzling their noses together. “Me das dolor de cabeza, mi lindo.”
“That means you think I’m cute right?” Reggie asked, his smile almost blinding.
“Si,” Julie replied. “El más lindo.” Then pulled him in for a kiss that made Reggie forget every language he knew.
But it didn’t matter because that kiss was easy to understand-no translation needed.

8/8/2023
It's my birthday tomorrow. Everybody has left the south bay now. Martin, Reggie, Alex are all gone. I guess Steve is still here but he doesn't really hang out with us, or rather me anymore. I don't really know what to type here, as I haven't been thinking too intensely about too many things. The times when I'm doing worse are the times I'm more intensely in thought, so I guess I fail at thinking positively.
Anyways, I'll be 28 American years old tomorrow. My 27th year was better than my 26th year I guess. Definitely still in my bottom 5 years overall but hey its the first upward year in a long time. Maybe since college. I've managed to keep up gym and I've even started running which is slightly surprising. It's good because who knows what may have happened if I wasn't able to keep up gym. I'm planning to run my first 5 miler tomorrow. I have to wake up in the morning because I'll be eating with my family in the evening up in SF, mostly out of a feeling of obligation. I wonder if they know. I'm letting the fact that I'm not being lazy on my birthday feel symbolic.
One thing I've been telling myself is that I'm god's strongest soldier. Obviously that's not actually true, but motivationally it helps. It's one of those things that there's no harm in believing in the moment, and it brings me joy. Speaking of another thing that brings me joy, Lily and I agreed to go climbing sometime soon. She's willing to come down from SF for me, and seems genuinely interested in hanging out with me. I need to keep my mindset that I'm just trying to be there for her, though it seems I overestimated how depressed she was. Well, better safe than sorry.
I visited Yan a couple weeks ago along with Gerald. It was a spur of the moment thing, and the flight was expensive as a result. I honestly felt a little pressured into going. We did a lot of activities involving physical exertion and also hung out with his church buddies a lot. Yan is super into the culture there it seems. His lifestyle as a chad in NC honestly bothered me a little bit. He has more pride and ego than I remember and also some strong ideals about what it means to be a man, which I don't really agree with. I may be making judgments too hastily but I was disappointed at his treatment of Jeremy, a dude in his small group who seemed a little autistic. I wasn't able to express this to him. At the same time I'm glad he's obviously doing well for himself out there. According to society, I probably have no authority to judge someone who's found a lifestyle that works for them.
My next step should almost certainly be to make my sleep schedule really consistent. I'd like to sleep at 1-2am every day. The deadline for working on the game is fast approaching. I have less than 4 months left, and I've told too many people about the new york deadline. Sigh... I certainly have some mental block about coding. When I open the IDE my mood instantly sinks. I had the strange idea of treating coding like working out, doing reps of opening the IDE lmao.
Wow I thought this post would be short because I didn't feel like I had much to write about but here we are. I went to Ralph's wedding last weekend. It made me realize I've made a mistake, choosing the jolly group over Ralph's group. I just respect Ralph's close circle so much more these days than the people in jolly. They are more considerate and more secure, and jolly isn't even dank anymore. At the end of the day jolly has now devolved into a bunch of individuals who are either troubled or successful but unkind people. Obviously this is a bit of a generalization. Maybe I wasn't good enough to join Ralph's group anyways, or maybe the grass is always greener on the other side. I might as well try though, since jolly in the south bay is pretty much dead.
Finally there's the issue of getting more involved with Austin's church. Unfortunately my experiences visiting Yan have turned me off even more from Christianity, but I really haven't given Austin's church a fair chance. The demographics are obviously very different so maybe it'll be a better fit, though so far my instinct tells me it's only a small chance. It'll give me something to do I guess.

Luke Patterson x Reader
Tumblr media
Request from Anon: Luke Patterson prompt? Luke (ghost) likes to flirt with reader every chance he gets? Kind of like the scene with Julie/Nick at her lock? He even gets a little jealous?
And Request from Anon: Julie and the boys try to convince her best friend she’s in love with a ghost? Luke Patterson x reader?
A/N: Two requests done in two days??? Who is this girl writing because damn she’s productive for once!??! I’m also sorry that this one is like so abrupt in the ending, I write the same damn endings for every fic and it’s fine, but I’m getting bored with myself, so I’m trying to figure out where to go with the endings, which means... absolutely nothing. lol.

---
“Do you think this shirt makes me look good?”
You nearly jump out of your skin and let out a squeak as the sudden appearance of Luke next to you. Offering the people around you an apologetic smile, you hold up your phone and pretend like someone was talking to you. As soon as the attention was off you, you turn back to Luke who was laughing hard and send him a glare. “Must you decide to jump scare me when I’m at school?”
He smirks at you as he leans on the lockers and crosses his arms. “When I get that kind of reaction? Of course, I must.”
You roll your eyes at him. “What did you want?”
“Oh, does this shirt make me look good?” He pulls his shirt out from his body, making you gulp as your eyes flicker down.
“Nope.”
Luke scoffs playfully at you, knowing you were just messing with him. “Haha.” He mocks and you can’t help but smile.
“Why did you need to know? It’s not like anyone could see you besides me and the band.”
“Well, yeah.” He shrugs and the smile on his face only gets bigger. “Always gotta look good in front of a pretty girl.”
You feel your cheeks heat up at Luke’s flirting as you turn back to your locker, lodging your phone which you had been pretending to talk on, between your shoulder and your ear when you pull out the last of your books. “And you went with that shirt?” you joke and watch Luke put a hand on his chest and pretend to be wounded. You laugh softly before you close your locker and start your walk to class with Luke next to you.
“Y/N! Wait up!” A voice calls out from behind you two as you spin around, seeing a kid from your math class jogging to catch up with you. When he finally stops in front of you, you hesitate glancing to Luke only to see his jaw locked as he stares down the boy.
“Gotta go. Bye.” You say into your phone before shoving it into your pocket. “Hey Daniel, what’s up?”
“I was hoping to get to walk you to class.” The smile on his face makes Luke’s jaw clench only more as he looks to you, only to see the smile on your face.
“He wants to walk you to class.” Luke says and you pretend to ignore him, focusing on Daniel.
“You don’t have to do that.” You assure him and Luke forces a smile, turning to square up to Daniel.
“Yeah, you don’t have to do that. I’ll walk her.”
“It’s no trouble, it’s on the way to my class.” You know there wasn’t much of a way to get around this so you suck in a breath and nod. As Daniel moves to walk by your side, you shoot a glance back to see Luke jaw dropped as you walk away with Daniel. You chuckle softly at him and he snaps out of his daze.
“I’m coming with!” He shouts over the sea of kids and sooner than not, Luke was on your other side.
“So, I was wondering,” Daniel begins, turning slightly as he walks to talk to you, “if you were free this Saturday like I am, maybe we could hang out.”
You were taken back by Daniel’s offer. “Uh, Saturday? Like, tomorrow Saturday?” you ask and Daniel nods, hopeful that you’d say yes. You ignore the comment Luke made under his breath as you think about Daniel’s offer. “Uh, I think I might have plans tomorrow.”
Luke furrows his brows and scoffs. “You don’t have plans tomorrow.”
“Yeah, I have plans tomorrow.” You repeat, looking away from Daniel briefly to Luke and scowl at him. You wince, however, when you realize Daniel couldn’t hear Luke refuting your plans.
“Oh.” Daniel frowns. “Maybe Sunday?”
“How about never?” Luke mumbles and you bite your lip, tightening your hold on the books in your arms.
“I’m not sure. I have to check.” Daniel’s face brightens at the possibility of going on a date with you and you feel bad for knowing Sunday would come and go and Daniel wouldn’t be getting that date. “This is my class.” You point briefly to the door that was ajar for students to enter and Daniel moves past you to his own class as he turns around to talk while walking backwards.
“You have my number, right?” He calls out and you nod, pulling your lips into a thin line to at least try and smile. “Cool, uh call me or text me if you’re free!” He points at you and you give him an awkward thumbs up. He smiles at you one last time before running down the hall to his own class.
“She won’t!” Luke calls after him before turning to you smugly. You let out a heavy breath and pull out your phone before resting against the wall and avoiding looking at Luke. “So, what are you doing tomorrow?”
“Luke.” You chastise him, giving him a glare that you quickly drop out of fear there was someone behind him thinking you were glaring at them.
“I’m just asking you know, in case you wanted to drop by Julie’s and watch us practice. You know how much I love seeing you there.” He leans on the wall next to you, meeting your eye as his lips tug up in a smile. “That is, unless you did already have plans?”
You roll your eyes and control the smile making way on your face. “If you weren’t already dead, I’d kill you.”
“So, I will be seeing you Saturday?”
“Yup.” You say before shoving your phone in your pocket and walking into the classroom.
You hear Luke laugh behind you and you can’t control the smile any longer, letting it take over your face as he shouts at you. “I thought so.”
“Oh, shut up.” You mumble and fall into your seat, beginning the long wait until class was over and you could go over to Julie’s and relax.
---
You were draped across the couch in Julie’s studio, Luke’s guitar in your lap as you strum gently on it, playing the chorus of a song that’s been stuck in your head for almost a week. While you were humming under your breath, you don’t notice Julie walk into the studio.
“Luke’s gonna kill you if he catches you playing that.” Julie calls over, making you laugh.
“He can try.” You smirk. “But I’m not afraid of ghost boy.” Despite not being afraid of Luke, you did put his guitar back where you found it.
“Let’s not ignore the fact he wouldn’t kill you because you’re both in love with each other.”
You let out a laugh and Julie raises a quizzical brow at you. “Luke’s not in love with me and I’m definitely not in love with him. I think I’d know if we were in love with each other.”
“Y/N, Luke could get down on one knee and propose to you and you’d still think he just sees you as just a friend.” Julie deadpans and your jaw drops. The corners of your mouth twitch into a smile as your best friend doubles over in laugher.
“You are so mean!” you gasp out, picking up a pillow and tossing it over at her. In the middle of doing so, the boys appear right in your line of fire. The pillow went right through Luke’s chest as he furrows his brows, looking between you and the girl behind them who can’t control her laughter.
“Did we miss something?” Alex points between the three of you and you shake your head, not wanting to repeat what Julie had just told you. There was no way they were right. Luke wasn’t in love with you and you weren’t in love with him. Simple as that.
“Okay then.” Luke’s words were slow as he eyes you and blow away any confused thoughts as he takes the spot next to you, draping an arm over the couch behind you.
“Nope.” You say and shoo him off the couch. “You have rehearsal.”
“Oh, but I’d rather stay here right here next you.” Luke’s smile had your cheeks heat up but you pretend to gag, making everyone laugh as well Luke. He pushes himself off the couch, refusing to look away from you until he has his guitar in his hands and turns to his friends. He was met with several different smirks knowing exactly what Luke was doing flirting with you.
Julie moves past him all the way until she was by your side and sending her smirks to you. Your eyes widen and you grab another pillow and hit her with it. She grabs it before you can get a second swing in and hit you back with it.
“Stop!” you laugh out a Julie keeps hitting you with it, giving you enough time to grab the last pillow on the couch and try to defend yourself. The band was watching on, Luke’s focus was strictly on you, trying to memorize the way your smile made your eyes close tight and the way your laugh fills the air. Until you land on your back on the floor and knock over the glass of juice you brought out to the studio with you before rehearsal began.
You freeze as the cold drink covers you, your mouth still upturned in a smile as Julie stands over you. She drops the pillow back on the couch, her hands covering her mouth as she gasps. “I’m so sorry!” You let out a small laugh, reaching your hand up for her to help you up.
“Don’t worry about it.” You assure her when you get to your feet, looking at the way your shirt was soaked.
“Are you okay?” Luke asks you and you gave him a funny look before sighing.
“It’s just juice, Luke. I think I’ll live.” Luke nods, glancing to the ground before meeting your eyes again and you took a deep breath before turning to Julie. “Hey, Julie? Can I borrow a shirt?”
Julie nods and grabs your hand to take you inside. You follow her without a word, only a glance back over your shoulder to see Luke watching you. Once you were out of Luke’s sight, Luke tosses his head back and groans.
Reggie and Alex laugh at their friend’s struggle. “Dude, just ask her out.”
Luke rolls his eyes at Alex’s advice, knowing that a relationship between you and him wouldn’t work. “I’m not going to ask her out.”
“Why not?” Reggie faked whined and Luke gave him a pointed look.
“Should I start with the fact that even though we can touch each other, I’m dead and she’s not? Or the fact that she’s not interested?” Alex and Reggie share a look that made Luke’s brows draw close. “What?”
“She’s interested.” They say at the same time and Luke take a deep breath, glancing to the door before shaking his head.
“How do you know?”
“We know.”
“Then could you let her know?” He points towards the door, his finger dropping seconds before you and Julie and enters the studio and you were donning one of the oversized sweaters Julie had stashed in her closet.
“Thanks again for letting me borrow this.” You tell her, holding the door open until she was inside.
“Course, you can just give it back tomorrow when you come over for rehearsal.” You nod at her, making a note to wash the sweater tomorrow morning before you come over.
“Oh, you didn’t hear?” Luke interrupts your thought as you and Julie glances up, seeing Alex and Reggie growing confused like you and Julie were.
“Hear what?” Julie speaks up, looking between the boys, thinking it had something to do with them. You catch Luke’s eye, seeing the way his lips tug in a smirk and you realize what this was about.
“Luke.” Your voice was low and he knows you were trying to get him to keep things hush.
“Y/N’s busy tomorrow.” He reveals and falls onto the couch, kicking his feet up on the table in front of him.
“What?” Alex calls over, a look of surprise struck across his face and you kind of take offense to it. “You are?”
Your mouth opens, not knowing what to say before you shake your head. “No.”
“No?” Luke repeats, pretending to be confused.
“No.”
“But I thought you were and that’s the reason you couldn’t go out with Daniel?” Your eyes close and you let out a sigh as Luke spills and you weren’t prepared as Julie gasps and grabs your arm.
“Daniel asked you out?” She looks almost mad as you turn to her.
“Um, maybe?”
“And you said you were busy? Are you crazy?”
“Well, I-” you stammer out, trying to form a thought on what to say.
“Y/N!” Julie stops you from coming up with an excuse. “You have to go out with him!”
“Woah,” Luke was off the couch in an instant, suddenly realizing that the idea to mess with you wasn’t all that smart considering Julie was stubborn and would get what she wanted, which in this case was for you to go out with someone who wasn’t him. “Well, I don’t think she has to do that.”
“Quiet Luke, this doesn’t involve you.” Julie snaps at him, seeing him gulp as he looks between you and Julie.
“I’m just saying, like maybe she is busy!”
“She’s not.” Alex butts in once he realizes that this could be Luke’s chance to tell you how he felt.
This time your look of annoyance was sent to Alex and he knew you wouldn’t last much longer. “I’m am.”
“Doing what?”
You bite your lip, letting your eyes move around the room inconspicuously until your mouth speaks on its own. “…Pilates?”
“Pilates?” Julie clarifies and you run a hand through your hair, hiding your face briefly before nodding. “Y/N, I don’t even think you know what Pilates are.”
“I know what Pilates are!” You practically screech as your friends all glare at you, except Luke who looks almost as panicky as you. “Okay fine,” you give in. “I just didn’t want to go on a date with Daniel.”
“Why not?”
Luke lets out a breath you were sure he meant to be a laugh, but you could almost sense his nerves. “Does she have to have a reason?”
“Yes!” Everyone shouts at him at once you cover your face, backing out of the room and letting yourself outside to get some air.
Luke wanted to go after you and apologize for bringing up Daniel’s date, but the moment he took a step, Alex stops him with a hand on his chest and shakes his head. “You should stay here.” He says and Luke scoffs.
“I’m not going to-”
“Luke.” Julie cuts him off. “We’ve got this.” For the first time since the argument started, Luke believes they’re on his side and lets them go outside and leave him alone in the studio, only growing more anxious by the passing second.
You were seated on the steps outside as Julie, Alex, and Reggie all come outside, making you groan. “You guys, I really don’t want to talk about Daniel anymore. Can you just go back and rehearse?”
“How about we stay out here and don’t talk about Daniel?” Reggie offers and you hesitate before nodding. That sounds… fine? They take seats on the steps around you before Reggie throws his arm over your shoulder. “Let’s talk about how you’re in love with Luke.”
You groan, shoving Reggie’s arm off you and turning to Julie. “You told them your stupid theory?” you grumble and Julie puts her hands up.
“I didn’t need to. They figured it out by themselves.” You roll your eyes.
“There’s nothing to figure out.” Your voice was quiet as your head dips, chewing on the inside of your lip. No one said anything as your sights move up from the ground, clocking each saddened look before you give in. “What do I do about it?”
Evil grins, that’s how you would explain the 3 different looks being shoot your way. Of course, none of your friends were evil, only excited, but nonetheless, you were terrified.
“Well, we have good news.” Alex begins and you listen eagerly. “If we can tell that you’re in love with him- and don’t fight back on that, you are- then we can also tell that Luke is in love with you.”
You inhale deeply. “You’re sure about this?” 3 eye rolls were all you receive. “I just have to know before I go in there and screw up the best friendship I’ve got.”
“Hey!” Julie nudges your arm. “I thought we had the best friendship!”
“We do, Jules.” You say sweetly and Julie’s brows raise out of annoyance and unbelievability.
“She’s just not in love with you.” Reggie adds on you hide your face as you groan, hearing your friends laugh all around you.
“Advice. That’s all I need.” You remind them and the laughing stops, finally being replaced by your friends telling you what to do.
---
Luke had been pacing since the moment his friends all stepped outside. He knew Alex and Reggie at least knew how much he liked you and it was the only hope he had that Julie wouldn’t convince you to go on a date with Daniel.
His thoughts ramble in his brain until finally the door opens and you step inside alone, tugging on the sleeves of Julie’s sweater. He freezes only seconds before your eyes lift up to his. Luke takes a breath of courage. “I don’t want you to go on a date with Daniel.”
His words stun you as your brows lift briefly and you clear your throat. “Um, and why is that?”
Luke couldn’t answer. He can’t. He wants to tell you that it was because he was falling for you, that every time he’s flirted with you it’s because he likes you and he likes hearing you flirt back, he likes imagining that someday by some miracle, you’d be a couple and do actual couple things, that he could make you happy. His mess of thoughts were cut off by a pair of lips. They were soft and plump, and had several bite marks lining them, but they felt perfect against his.
Luke pulls you closer as you kiss him, your hands gripping the sides of his tank top as he cups your face to pull you closer. Alex’s advice plays on repeat in your head and suddenly, you were very thankful you decided to listen to your friends.
Just forget everything and kiss him.

Prompt Drabble!
I got inspired by today's prompt list and also watched the Bright episode today and this is where we ended up. Based on the line, "We're not just friends. You know that."
Let me know what you think!
_________________________________
If she were being realistic, Julie should’ve known that performing with the boys would bring on certain attentions she hadn’t really considered for them in the past. Reggie was her brother, for Christ’s sake. The last thing she really wanted to picture was him macking on some girl he’d been making eyes at during their performance.
Well, maybe the second to last thing she wanted to picture.
The last thing she wanted to picture was probably Luke macking on some girl he’d been making eyes at during their performance.
Unfortunately, that was exactly what she was picturing now.
In her defense, it hadn’t even crossed her mind until the boys found her in the halls after they’d all been bombarded after their guerilla-style attack performance in the gym to get Julie back into her music program. She’d been so swept up in the adrenaline and sheer joy at finally performing again–with her boys, no less–that she hadn’t really even noticed just how moony-eyed all the girls in the audience had gone.
Apparently, the boys had definitely taken notice.
“Julie, they were loving you!” was the first thing out of Luke’s mouth when they’d finally reconvened in a less-busy hallway between class changes.
Julie rolled her eyes in a false air of nonchalance. She’d never have gotten through Bright without their help. “No, they were totally loving us!”
All three boys grinned.
Then Reggie’s eyes were widening as he rounded sharply on his best friends instead. “Oh my God, the cheerleaders were looking at me! They were definitely looking at me, right?” Reggie took Luke’s shoulders between his hands, shaking him excitedly.
Even Alex laughed, high on excitement at how well they’d been received with Julie as their frontwoman.
“Bro, they were definitely looking at you!” Luke gushed in return, eyes so crinkled with his smile he looked exactly like an emoji.
And that made Julie pause. Had they been looking at Reggie? If Luke noticed, she supposed they had.
As soon as the thought entered her head, she felt her heart drop sharply to her stomach.
Luke had to have been watching the girls, too.
Luke. Her Luke. The boy she’d known since they were young enough to split juice boxes and animal crackers as an afternoon snack. Luke, whom she suspected she’d always been halfway in love with, but had finally taken the plunge and fallen fully for after he’d been so brazenly and unapologetically sure of her and her talent, assuring her that she was a star and that music would come back when she was ready for it. He’d been right. It had come back to her, right there in the school gym with her brother and his two best friends supporting her and loving her just as they always had.
Her Luke had been watching the girls in the audience and had taken notice that they’d obviously liked what they saw on stage.
She’d thought…well, she’d kind of thought that he might be on his way to returning some of the feelings that had been stirring as he’d shared his song, a little piece of his soul, in her kitchen. It was just the latest in a series of too-close encounters they’d had recently, something they hadn’t discussed but she’d nevertheless figured they were at least close to the same page on. His smile had been a little too soft, his fingers a little too gentle against the small of her back as he’d tucked himself in close and sung the song with her line by line. It had taken everything in her not to grab at his stupidly-sharp jaw and tug him down for a kiss right there in front of her peanut butter and jelly sandwich.
Obviously, she’d been wrong.
Julie’s smile turned strained, but she kept it firmly in place long enough to have reason to walk away before she heard something that completely shattered and annihilated her heart. “Right, well, thanks for helping me get back in my program. Hope you guys can get some good dates out of it. You’re good friends. I gotta get to class.”
She turned on her heel to head back to her locker and grab her chemistry books, but she had time to see the elated grin slip off Luke’s face right as Alex smacked sharply into his shoulder. She didn’t have time to think into it, her feet carrying her swiftly down the hall and away from the trio of boys as she felt the betraying sting of tears pricking in the depths of her sinuses.
She’d just rounded the corner and slipped out of their sight when she heard a frantic “Julie!” cry out behind her, and the signature sharp squeak of Vans against waxed linoleum let her know exactly who was rushing off after her.
So Julie paused and leaned against the lockers behind her, sniffing aggressively to ward off any hint of traitor tears that had tried to force their way out of her ducts.
Luke Patterson would not see her cry over him.
But then he was tumbling haphazardly around the corner, fully prepared to burst into a sprint because he obviously hadn’t anticipated her stopping to wait for him in the now-abandoned hallways of Los Feliz High.
“Julie,” the sound of her name was colored with relief that he’d caught up with her. His fingers reached out to cup softly against her elbow, moving in front of her and slouching to keep his frame from towering too imposingly over her. Julie had never thought much about how small she was until she started having interactions like this with Luke where he seemed to purposely make himself smaller, never threatening or looming but always maintaining a comfortable protective presence.
Instinctively, her own hand clutched at the forearm attached to the fingers which were tracing soothingly against the back of her elbow. Still, Julie’s brows scrunched together in confusion. “I need to get to class, Luke. Didn’t you and Reggie need to–”
She didn’t even finish the sentence, Luke’s head already shaking emphatically in denial at the implication they’d be having any kind of conversation about whichever girls had caught their eye while they’d been on stage.
“We’re not just friends. You know that.” His tone is soft, likely to keep the nosy boys around the corner from overhearing even though they’re definitely eavesdropping as close as they’ve deemed safe should Julie decide to come after them for it. But he’s sincere. Whatever they are, whatever they’ve been skirting around these last few weeks, the title “friends” doesn’t exactly cover it.
Julie’s lips started to curve around a retort–after all, how can she know that? It’s not as if they’ve actually talked about it or that Luke has given any indication that this is anything serious. She barely even got out a syllable of protest before Luke’s other hand cupped at her cheek, cutting off any thought process she’d had moments ago.
“No, Jules, I mean it. You’re our girl. Always.” His grey-green eyes stayed locked on hers, wide and earnest in a way that should have been illegal. How could anyone ever argue with him when he could just pull out eyes like that?
Julie huffed an exasperated sigh. The sentiment, while heartwarming, was so close yet so far from what she wanted to hear him say. “I’m Reggie’s little sister; you’re contractually obligated to say that to me.”
Luke laughed, a rosy blush coming up to tinge his cheeks as he leaned in ever-so-slightly closer, knees bending to keep his eyes more level with hers as he spoke again. “My girl, then. You’re my girl. I’m sorry we haven’t talked about it but I promise this is important to me. You’re important to me.” His thumb grazed back and forth against the apple of her cheek, eyes flicking back and forth between hers to gauge her reaction.
Julie’s heart nearly exploded in her chest. This was the Luke she knew and loved. Passionate and loyal and breathtakingly honest, but young and goofy and maybe a little bit awkward at times, even through his carefully-crafted rockstar persona. His cheeks flamed a brighter pink now, the flush extending down toward his neck as he bit at his overly-plump bottom lip, waiting for her response.
That’s right, she should probably say something, shouldn’t she?
“You’re important to me, too.” The statement was barely a whisper, but Luke’s answering smile blinded her as he bumped his forehead affectionately against hers. “Reggie’s going to kill you, you know.”
Julie could see it now. He’d obviously mentioned something of this to the boys if Alex’s pointed shoulder smack earlier was anything to go by. And Reggie was nothing if not an annoyingly-protective, sweet older brother. He’d surely have lots to say on the matter as soon as they were permitted back around the corner.
Luke, to his credit, only shrugged casually at their impending doom before bouncing up onto his toes. “Doesn’t matter. Does this mean I can finally kiss you now?”
And Julie, with a smile bright and happy and definitely more than a little bit in love, tangled her fingers into the curls at his neck and tugged his mouth down to meet hers.
Finally indeed, Luke.

Word Count: 2163 words
Summary: Your best friend Julie invites you and Flynn to come over to hang out with her bandmates, and a game of too hot to handle ends up making you re-evaluate your relationship with Luke Patterson
Warnings: swearing, mention of underage drinking, unprotected sex, choking, praise kink, dirty talk, grinding/groping
A/N: hopefully this makes sense, i’m editing it half asleep lol  i’ve also put together a masterlist which you can find here anyways hope you enjoy :)
You should have said no when Julie batted her eyes and asked you if you wanted to come hang out with her bandmates after school one Friday night.
You should have said no when she used alcohol as a bribing tactic to get you to come.
You should have made up an excuse not to go.
Don’t get the wrong impression, you loved Alex and Reggie. The two boys had become close friends of yours since the day Julie first introduced them to you and Flynn.
It was Luke Patterson that you had an issue with. The lead guitarist of Julie and the Phantoms and the lead pain in your ass since the minute you met.
If you had said no to coming you wouldn’t have been in this situation.
Staring down at the bottle on the floor after you drunkenly agreed to a game of Too Hot to Handle, watching as the bottle slowly stopped and pointed at the one person you were praying it wouldn’t.
Luke fucking Patterson.
“Oh fuck no.” You exclaimed loudly. Luke shook his head.
“No way. Not doing it.” He said, his tone matching yours.
“You have to, the bottle chose you.” Reggie grinned. You rolled your eyes.
“The bottle doesn’t know what it’s doing.” You spat.
“It’s simple, if you don’t want to do it that bad just give in straight away.” Flynn raised an eyebrow, looking between yourself and Luke.
“I’m not a quitter, Y/L/N can give up.” Luke said. Your eyes narrowed.
“What makes you think I’m a quitter Patterson.” You stared at the boy across from you, venom in your eyes.
“There’s only one way to settle this then.” Julie spoke up after a moment of silence.
“Play the fucking game.” Alex finished, his head resting on Willie’s shoulder.
You rolled your eyes, standing up and making your way over to Luke. You knelt down in front of him, glaring at him.
“I still hate your fucking guts.” You told him. He smirked.
“The feeling’s mutual princess.” His tone was condescending.
You placed your hand on his thigh, leaning in and sucking on his neck. He scoffed.
“Is that all you’ve got Y/L/N?” He teased.
You pulled away, glaring at him again before moving your hand up his thigh, getting dangerously close to his crotch, your eyes never leaving his. He didn’t even bat an eyelid.
You held back a scowl, frustrated that Luke was so good at this game. Standing up you sat down in his lap, grinding your ass into his dick. You grabbed his hand and placed it onto one of your boobs, and your friends whistled at the scene.
Luke fake yawned and this time you couldn’t help but scowl.
“Are you fucking kidding? Nothing? Maybe Carrie is right and you are in love with Reggie.” You said, and Reggie choked on his drink.
“Guess you’re not as seductive as you thought, sweetheart.” Luke teased, ignoring the comment about Reggie. You moved again so that you were straddling his hips, and you could feel that his dick was slightly hard in his pants. Motivated by this you started rocking back and forth, trying to ignore the feelings of pleasure shooting through your body.
“I feel like we shouldn’t be watching this.” Flynn joked, covering Julie’s eyes with one hand and Reggie’s with her other.
“You guys were the ones who wanted this.” You reminded them, stopping and looking Luke in the eyes. You had always known that Luke was an attractive guy, his arrogance often outshining his good looks, but up close he was stunning. You hesitated and he smiled, glancing down at your lips. Your heart started to race and you mentally kicked yourself.
This was Luke Patterson, the same boy who you had hated ever since Julie had first introduced him to you.
The boy who was so self centered he couldn’t handle things not being about him.
The boy who you fought with every single time you saw him.
He lent closer and you froze. Was he going to kiss you?
“I- I give up.” You stuttered, jumping out of his lap and rushing back to your spot.
“I knew you’d chicken out.” Luke sung, a smug look on his face.
You were silent, and Luke’s cocky grin fell, concern flicking through his eyes for a brief moment.
“Hey Julie, it’s getting late, everyone needs to go home.” Ray said, stepping into the studio and you stood up quickly, rushing to grab your bag as the others stood up slowly.
“You sure you don’t wanna stay the night Y/N?” Julie asked as you flung your bag onto your back. You nodded.
“Yeah I’m sure, my mum would kill me.” You said, and she nodded understandingly.
“Can I walk you home?” Luke blurted out, and everyone turned to look at him in shock. He shrugged.
“What? I may hate her guts but I still don’t want her to be murdered on the way home.” He said, and you could have sworn you saw a slight blush on his cheeks.
“No it’s fine, my house is just around the corner, Alex or Reggie can walk me.” You replied, glancing at your two friends.
“Yeah I can-” Reggie stopped, noticing the glare that Luke was shooting him. “Actually sorry Y/N, I really have to get home quickly before my parents realise I was gone.”
“Alex?” You tried. The blond boy shook his head.
“Sorry babe, Willie and I are heading in the complete opposite direction.” Alex shot you a sympathetic look. You sighed, turning your attention to Luke.
“Fine, let’s go Patterson.” You said, giving in.
Luke followed behind you as you left the garage and headed out onto the street, walking in silence for a few minutes before you decided to speak up.
“So what’s your motive?” You asked. Luke frowned.
“My what?” He asked.
“Why are you walking me home? You said yourself you hate my guts.”
“Can’t I just be a good friend?” He tried. You rolled your eyes.
“We’re not friends.” You reminded him. He shrugged as you turned heading down your street.
“Okay.” He replied simply. You stopped in front of your house, spinning on your heels to look at him.
“So?” You questioned. He hesitated, his normally confident aura gone. He opened his mouth to speak but decided against it, instead taking a step towards you. You looked up, your eyes meeting his, and your heart skipped a beat when you noticed the lust in his eyes.
“Luke.” You muttered quietly, and suddenly your back was pressed against the front wall of your house, his lips on yours.
Your brain short circuited. No one had ever kissed you with that much passion before.
You kissed him back with just as much force, the lust and alcohol clouding your better judgement.
He pulled away to take a breath and you wordlessly grabbed him by the shirt, pulling him towards your front door. You reached into your bag to find your keys, Luke’s lips on your neck sucking hard enough that you were definitely going to have a few marks to cover in the morning. You got the door unlocked and you kicked it open, spinning around to capture Luke’s lips with your own again, kissing him as you dragged him into your house.
“Are your family home?” He questioned breathlessly as he pulled away. You nodded.
“Just mum.” You told him as you lead him up the stairs, him trailing behind you like a lost puppy. “But she doesn’t care if I bring people home to fuck as long as we’re safe.”
You reached your bedroom door and opened it, shoving Luke inside before shutting and locking the door behind you.
He roughly shoved you against the door, lips connecting once more in a passionate kiss full of tongues and roaming hands.
You kicked off your shoes and began to strip down, your lips never once leaving his, and he did he same. You briefly pulled apart for him to remove his shirt, but once it was off his lips were back on yours again.
“Fuck.” He groaned, as your naked bodies pressed against each other.
“Speaking of, can you please?” You teased, pushing off the wall and placing your hands on his shoulders, leading him to your bed.
You gave him a light shove so that he fell backwards, and you climbed on top of him, straddling his waist, almost moaning at the feeling of his hard dick slipping between your folds.
“God Y/L/N.” Luke groaned as you began to move your hips, grinding into his boner.
“Shut up.” You told him.
He flipped you over, pinning you against your bed, his hand coming up to grab at your neck, choking you slightly.
You moaned loudly, not even caring that your mother might hear. She’d know in the morning by the marks littering your body.
“You like that? You like it when I choke you?” Luke questioned, placing a bit more pressure on your neck but not enough to hurt you or constrict your airways.
“Fuck, yes.” You moaned in response.
“Of course you do, you dirty little whore.” His words made you even wetter, hips bucking up for some kind of contact.
“Patterson please just fuck me.” You groaned. He smirked.
“If you say so.” He sat up, hands running down your sides, before hesitating slightly.
“Do you have...” He paused, his voice uncharacteristically soft.
“Are you clean?” You questioned. He nodded. “Me too. Just fuck me.”
“But what about-” He started.
“I’m on the pill.” You cut him off. “Please Luke.”
He smirked.
“I think you need to beg a bit more.” He teased.
“Fuck me right now or you’ll be jerking off in the street alone.” You threatened.
“Jesus princess, no need to be so pushy.” He said as he lined up his dick with your hole, pushing in roughly causing you to gasp.
“Fuck.” You exclaimed. He barely gave you time to adjust before he was pounding into you again, causing the both of you to swear loudly.
“Again.” You stuttered out, and he obeyed, slamming into you again.
“That feels so good.” You groaned.
“Oh yeah?” He smirked, repeating his actions to see your reaction.
“Yes you cocky bastard.” You spat, and he grinned.
“Fuck you.” He said.
“Please.” You bit back. He grinned, before beginning to thrust hard, creating a rhythm. His hand went back to your throat again, pressing down causing you to moan loudly.
“Fuck if you keep this up I won’t last.” You groaned. He bit his lip as he continued to pound into you.
“Me neither.” He admitted. He sped up his pace, the room filled with the sounds of slapping skin and your breathless moans.
“Fuck, I’m close.” He said, and you felt the familiar feeling pooling in your stomach.
“Me too.” You said. He glanced at you, seemingly hesitant to say something.
“What?” You questioned.
He bit his lip.
“Could you... tell me that I’m doing good?” He questioned, somewhat shyly.
“You have a praise kink?” You asked.
“Maybe...” He replied quietly.
“God Luke this feels so good. You feel so good.” You moaned, smirking at his reaction.
“Okay yes, I have a praise kink.” He admitted, squeezing your throat slightly as a warning not to tease him. You gasped.
“Yes Luke. So good.” You praised, and he moaned slightly.
“I’m gonna cum.” He said between moans.
“Ugh yes, fill me with your hot cum like the good boy you are.” You moaned, and he came undone, hips stuttering as he came inside you. The feeling of his cum coating your insides was enough to set you off too, your walls clenching around him as you came hard.
“I hate you.” You moaned.
“I hate you more.” He replied breathily.
You rode out your highs together and he pulled out, flopping down next to you.
“Mind if I stay the night?” He asked softly. You hesitated.
“No, I don’t mind.” You eventually decided. You turned your head to look at the boy next to you, his hair stuck to his head with sweat, and you suddenly realised that maybe you didn’t hate Luke Patterson as much as you thought you did.
You forced yourself to get up and clean off in the bathroom before climbing back into bed still naked with Luke.
He snuggled into your side and you pressed a soft kiss to his head, an oddly intimate gesture to someone you had claimed to hate up until an hour or so ago.
“Goodnight Y/N.” Luke whispered softly, his voice full of sleep.
“Goodnight Luke.” You replied, and with that the two of you drifted off to sleep, until the next morning when a shout woke you from your slumber.
“Oh my god did you two fuck?” Alex’s voice startled you, and you groaned, pulling the covers up over your head.
You were never going to live this one down.

BIRTHDAY WEEK PROMPTS
"Keep me company for a bit?" Reggie x Julie
(So this one got a little longer, also available on AO3)
“Reginald.” The shrill cry from his mother made Reggie cringe nearly as much as the use of his name.
There were very few people-and even fewer situations-he was ok using his full name. Out of the mouth of his apathetic yet overbearing mother, in the middle of this excuse to find him a ‘suitable partner’ were definitely nowhere on that list.
Cause that’s exactly what he wanted for his birthday. For her to use it as an excuse to throw him a party that doubled as a matchmaking tool. Of course she couldn’t detect or outright ignored his sarcasm when he’d told her that.
His only saving grace so far was that he’d managed to talk her into a costume party. Sure she interpreted that to mean fancy masquerade ball, or black tie with masks. But he was still able to use that to his favor.
He’d worked it out with the guys to wear similar enough suits and had been swapping masks with them at random all night. Well, with Bobby, Luke, and Willie, since Alex was too tall. Although he made a great lookout and distraction as needed.
Thankfully, it didn’t take much convincing to get his friends to understand why he needed them to do this. Especially after he explained he’d probably be forced to dance and socialize only with guests vetted and approved by his parents. What was the likelihood he’d get along with any of them?
Plus with how his mother was, all it would take was some general politeness on his part and next thing he knew he’d be swamped with more arranged dates. Which is exactly how he’d ended up with his last two ‘exes’.
The plan had been working beautifully so far if he does say so himself. He managed to have a lovely evening with his friends so far. However-
“I think your mom’s finally caught on.” Bobby mumbled glaring over Reggie’s shoulder where his mother’s voice had come from.
He cursed under his breath as he glanced behind him. Sure enough she was heading straight for him, another elegantly dressed woman trailing behind her. “Damn it.” He gritted through his teeth, “I think it’s time for plan b.”
“Do we have a plan b?” Bobby chuckled as the two of them wove through partygoers, purposefully sticking to the more crowded areas.
“Nope. But I’m sure I’ll think of something.” Reggie eyed some of the other guests as he and Bobby continued to move through the throng.
He managed to find another random guest similar to his build and after some convincing-and a bit of a bribe-swapped masks and suit jackets with him. Bobby rolled his eyes as Reggie donned the red jacket, certainly judging him.
True black or blue would be easier to blend in with, but he’d been wearing black all night.  And hopefully the color change would throw his mom off.
“Reginald?” His mother’s voice was way too close for comfort. All it took was a quick exchange of glances with Bobby for his friend to break off to go distract her.
Reggie groaned as the music changed to a slower song and the crowds around him thinned. Or rather the crowds trickled to the dance floor. This wouldn’t help him hide and sticking to the crowds and dancing with himself might make him stand out a bit too much.
“Excuse me?” A gentle dulcet voice drew Reggie’s attention away from the crowd. His breath caught at the angelic vision who stood before him. Probably a silly thing to think since half her face was concealed by her gold and lavender butterfly mask.
However, her warm honey eyes shined and her broad gapped toothed smile was so open and earnest in a way he hadn’t seen on any of the rest of the guests tonight. Her dark curls were pulled back so they cascaded like a waterfall over the back of her neck and shoulders. Drawing his eyes to her golden choker, a series of crescent moon shapes surrounding her neck.
“Do you want to dance?” Her question drew his eyes back to hers. The gleam in her eye faltered when he hesitated to answer.
Well, he had just been thinking it’d be easier to hide from his mother on the dance floor. With a crooked smile, he held out his hand toward her. “I’d love to.”
Her warm hand slid into his and she quickly dragged him onto the dance floor. Which threw him off a little. He’d been dragged to enough of these in his life and couldn’t recall a time any of the ladies acted like this. Too caught up in their-and their families-image and the decorum they’d been hounded with.
“So,” he drawled as he gently placed one hand on her waist. “You look lovely this evening.”
“Thanks,” she preened slightly as she glanced down at her lavender gown. She soon returned to smiling broadly at him, giving him a not so subtle once over. “You don’t look so bad yourself.”
Before he could think of anything else to say she quickly glanced around them. Then in a harsh conspiratorial whisper, “you and your friends might want to be a little more careful if you don’t want to get caught and thrown out.”
He furrowed his brows in confusion, which caused her to scoff in disbelief.
“You guys are party crashing, right?” She continued to whisper as she leaned in closer to him. He firmly shoved to the back of his mind that she smelled of lavender and vanilla.
“What? Why would you think-?”
“Please, you guys have been sneaking around all night. Switching masks.” She spoke through some melodious giggling which made his heart needlessly flutter. “Plus, I just saw you pay that other guy for his mask and jacket.”
“Right.” He held out the vowel, when presented like that he could understand why they would seem suspicious. “If you think we’re crashing why didn’t you just call securi-”
He cut off his question as he caught the way she shifted nervously at his question. With a smirk he realized, “you’re party crashing? Really.”
She quickly shushed him as she looked worriedly around the two of them. He laughed more openly now because of her earlier assumption. Which earned him a short lived glare from her, before she too was laughing with him.
Reggie was very tempted to let her know that she was actually talking to the guy whose party she was crashing. But then again, some true anonymity could be fun in its own way.
“Sorry,” he exhaled through some of his dying laughter. “Didn’t expect that.”
“Yeah, it’s more my friends’ thing” she grimaced, he had to wonder how she interpreted what he’d said. “But I’ve always wanted to attend a fancy masquerade so I tagged along with them this time.”
“Oh,” he glanced around them, but no one seemed out of place. “Where are your friends now?”
She groaned with a fond eye roll. “Apparently, they finally realized how head over heels they are for each other, sort of leaving me alone.”
“They just abandoned you? That’s kind of shitty.”
“Nah,” She brushed off his concerns with a small laugh. “They’ve been dancing around each other since high school. It’s nice to see them finally figure it out.”
“Well I seemed to have lost track of my own friends.” His smile broadened as their eyes met again. “Do you want to keep me company for a bit?”
“I’d love to.” She mirrored his smile, as they continued to dance.
It was definitely one of the best times he’d had at one of these parties. The two of them spent the evening dancing and talking to each other. Admittedly he was more than happy to let her monopolize the conversation.
It may have started out as him merely trying to remain anonymous. But it soon shifted to genuine curiosity about her and her life. He couldn't hear enough about it.
He was fascinated by her family.
Absolutely fond of her brother and his fascination with the supernatural. Mesmerized by her father and how supportive and proud of his children he was. He could relate to the frustrations of how overbearing her Aunt sounded, but even then it seemed to stem from a place of genuine love.
Then there were all the things he learned about her. How she was attending school to try and pursue songwriting, even sharing some of her lyrics with him. He had to admit she had a real talent for it.
He was eager to hear all about her frustrations at work on top of the school work. Briefly he wondered if he’d ever been to the café she worked for. But that seemed doubtful since he’s pretty sure he hasn’t been to one with the chalkboard doodles she described and claimed to have drawn.
All too soon, they were being interrupted with a screeched, “Julie.” He had never asked her name, he realized as she looked up at the two women who desperately waved at them. One of which pointed at their phone.
“Oh shoot.” She exclaimed as she shot to her feet, a new wave of worry crossing her face. “We gotta go.”
“Go? Really?” he asked as he followed her-Julie, apparently-through the room towards her friends.
“Yeah, sorry, we had a pre-scheduled ride to get home.” Julie turned back to him with a bright smile. Then pressed a quick fleeting peck to his cheek. “Thanks for a wonderful time. Maybe we can meet up again sometime?”
“Sure, that sounds great.” He breathed out and watched her run out of the room with her friends. He turned to go look for his own friends. It didn’t take long, they were all staring at him with shit eating grins beneath their masks.
Reggie mentally braced for the verbal teasing he was sure he was about to endure. How he’d ended up half-smitten over a girl at the very party he swore it wouldn’t happen at. It’d all be worth it if he got to meet up with Julie again and spend more time with her.
He froze in his tracks.
How were they supposed to meet up? He only had her first name, and she didn’t even have that much. How did neither of them think to exchange any contact information or even make a solid plan?
With a whispered curse he shot out the room after her, with no luck. He couldn’t find her anywhere. With a groan and no concern over what anybody thought he leaned heavily into the wall before sliding down to the floor..
How could he possibly find her now?
