#but I managed to ask like someone to drive us (there were 6) and they said no and that’s when I woke up

well good day to all of you. i have a tale. a classified, certified absolute god tier disaster of a tale.
at the ripe hour of 6:45 am i was awoken from my slumber by a Noise. what sort of noise? you might be asking.
the sort of noise that usually accompanies my father getting up at the ass crack of dawn and trying not to turn on the tap loudly so that he doesnt wake us up.
for one blissful moment i thought that i was at home, in my bed, and all was right with the world.
and then i remembered that i live approximately four hours away from my parents and all is not right with the world.
so i did what any person would do. waited for the noise to go away.
but it did not.
so i investigated. in all my bleary eyed glory.
and found that my bathroom ceiling light was pissing.
not just a little either.
a severe, unauthorized amount of water was streaming out of my bathroom light fixture.
so after banging on katyas door and finding a bucket and throwing on a sweatshirt i dragged my tired ass down to the front desk and reported the tea as it were.
now one thing you need to know about our building is that it is old. the second thing you need to know about our building is that the maitenance guys (we call them the boys) are absolutely incredible, like tumblr funny guy posts but irl, however they take for fucking ever to respond to any situation.
this time though, nothing was in clear danger of exploding or lighting on fire. so we made some breakfast. drank some coffee. watched the bucket that we had put in the bathroom fill up with water. and we waited.
and waited.
and waited some more.
then i noticed that if you stepped on some of our kitchen floor tiles they started squelching.
so back downstairs i went and explained the tea as it were once again.
and let it be known, that i worked for two very solid and very miserable years as a resident assistant in college. i know all about the woes of people complaining to you to fix things that you cannot fix and you cannot tell them when it will be fixed because the person who needs to do the fixing is otherwise indisposed. so my general attitude towards this whole situation was "hey man you can't make this better for me and im really not pressed about it as long as someone eventually comes and sorts out my pissing ceiling." which is a great attitude to have in this general situation. and especially so because it was about to get even more strange.
at approximately 9:30am our apartment was graced by the presence of one of the boys. the maintenance man. we will call him james.
we have encountered james before. he delt with our fuse box nearly exploding. that situation was not nearly as chill as this one was.
hes also incredible.
so he comes in and he goes "hey how's it going" and i say "well you know things are just leaking!"
he proceeds to tell us that the fridge in the apartment above us had a connection pipe that froze and exploded some how and that managed to leak all into our apartment. not nearly what i was expecting but hey! at least they know what's going on!
we tell him about the squelching tiles and he says that he will bring us a dehumidifier after he turns off the water and deals with the mess of the fridge above us. we say ok great! this is wonderful!
and he goes to leave the apartment. out of habit i had locked the door when he entered. he goes "aw man did you lock me in?"
and i say
"oh sorry!"
and he pauses.
and he looks at our door in disbelief. perhaps even utter horror.
and this, my lovely audience, is what he was looking at:
Tumblr media
surprisingly. he was not staring at the entertainment for man and horse plaque that katya and i found while thrifting. nay. he was staring at the unfortunate combination of the printed photo of lando norris and max verstappens face.
now why are lando norris and ax verstappen on the back of my door? you might be asking. you might even be asking who they are.
and if youve been following the lore of this blog, you might recognize them as formula 1 drivers. lando norris of course being a mclaren driver and max verstappen being the reigning world champion of team red bull.
and how did they wind up on my door? well at christmas katya thought it would be funny to put a picture of lando norris on top of our christmas tree and so we got one printed at cvs but when you get wallet sized photos printed they print you four of them so we ended up with four of the same photo of lando. one went on the tree, one went to my sister, one is in our bathroom and now one is on the back of our door.
as for max. well. katyas partner drinks red bull and he was on the red bull box so we cut him out and stuck him there. neither of us are particularly big max fans, it was just funny.
but anyway. i digress.
james is standing there staring at this array of perplexing stuff and goes.
"really? him??"
and i go
"yeah..." not knowing what else to say.
and james turns. and he looks at us. and he goes. and i shit you the absolute fuck not.
"now what's wrong with lewis hamilton???"
(sir lewis hamilton being the mercedes f1 driver, 7 time world champion and absolute icon)
and katya and i go
"oh no no! we love lewis hamilton! we just respect him too much to put him on the door!"
which is true
and james goes "now what did you think of him going to ferrari?"
and i say "i thought it was an interesting choice"
and katya says "i was surprised."
and james says "you and me both" and then he shuts the door behind him.
katya and i look at eachother. and we both fall to the floor in fits of laughter.
let it be known that james has come face to face with a giant tapestry of mr worldwide mr 305 pitbull himself that is in our bathroom, on several occasions, and yet, he chooses to comment on our choice of formula 1 driver that is taped to the back of our door.
im still in a state of disbelief. my ceiling is still pissing. my floor is still squelching. and my maintenance man felt the need to call our my choice of formula 1 driver at 9:30 on a saturday morning.

Beep beep
A deafening car horn could be heard outside of your home indicating that your friend, Luna, had just arrived to pick you up. You grabbed the oversized and overpacked suitcase before making your way out of the door and to your friend’s car. She squealed in excitement once you opened the backseat door to stuff your bag next to hers. When you finished struggling, you sat next to her on the passenger side with an exasperated sigh. “I can’t believe you actually managed to drag me out of the house for this.” You said while turning to Luna.
“Oh c’mon, a trip will do you some good! I couldn’t let my best friend continue to rot in her bed for another 6 months.” She started the car back up and began the drive to the airport.
“I was not rotting. Just healing…?” You questioned your own statement.
“Y/n, you broke up with your ex over half a year ago. All you did was go to work then go home and lay in bed. You even stopped hanging out with me. If that’s not rotting then I don’t know what is.” She had a point. Nothing you did after the breakup with your long time boyfriend, now ex-boyfriend was healing whatsoever. Still you wanted to take things at your own pace. You’d get back out there eventually, or so you had kept telling yourself for the past couple of months. You know all Luna wanted was to help you get back to your old self. The person you used to be before the toxic breakup, before you had even met your ex in the first place.
“Okay, maybe I get it. But why Australia of all places? You couldn’t have picked like Paris or something?” You questioned.
Luna shook her head as she pulled into the airport parking lot. It was a short drive from your place. “Well, Australia is beautiful this time of year! Not too cold, but also not blistering hot like it is in the summertime. And Paris is just so… cliche. We needed something different for our first trip out in god knows how long.” She finished explaining.
“Sounds like you did your research at least,” you credited her.
“Not to mention, Australians are sexy!” She wiggled her eyebrows at you.
You face palmed shaking your head, “Luna, that is not what I need right now!”
“What? I’m just saying that the best way to get over someone is to get under somebody else.” She shrugged like it was no big deal. You rolled your eyes as you got out of the car after she had parked.
Hooking up with a stranger was the last thing on your list. You weren’t the promiscuous type and definitely didn’t plan to start during the trip.
After grabbing the bags  out of the back you both started your trek through the airport. Passing through security went smoothly and you silently thanked the heavens you didn’t forget your passport. Another 30 minutes passed and soon you were seated on the airplane next to your friend.
“How long is this flight again?” You asked while fishing out headphones from your carryon.
“Hmm, only about 15 hours or so.” She answered.
You choked, “ONLY 15 hours?!”
“Hey, it was the best deal for a straight through flight.”
All you could do was let out a groan in response. You put on your headphones and listened to some calming music. Mind as well get comfortable during this long flight, maybe catch up on some sleep.
Tumblr media
Contrary to your intentions you barely got any sleep by the time the plane finally landed. The seats were just way too cramped and uncomfortable. Luna, on the other hand, slept like a baby the entire flight.
“Ugh I can’t wait to get back to the hotel and relax.” You chimed to Luna while you both waited to retrieve your bags.
“Oh yeah about that..” she trailed. You simply raised an eyebrow at her, waiting for her to continue.
“That hotel we looked at was way out of our budget for the nights we picked so I booked us an Airbnb instead.” She finished.
“Okay, that’s not so bad. I thought you were going to say you forgot to book a place or something.” You wouldn’t put it past Luna to have forgotten something as important as booking a place to stay. She was rather forgetful when she got excited about trips.
Finally, the rightful suitcases had arrived allowing you and Luna to catch a cab to leave the airport. On the ride to the Airbnb you could tell that Sydney, Australia was beautiful. It may have been nighttime but the way the lights lit up the city was something out of a storybook.
About 20 minutes later, you had arrived at the destination. Upon looking at the small house it was cute, nothing too fancy. You grabbed your belongings from the trunk of the cab and thanked the driver before racing up to meet Luna on the doorstep. She punched in the key code to open the door. Immediately upon entry the interior was warm and inviting. The house sported an open floor plan with a modern kitchen and living room towards the front of the house. You both made your way past the living room down a hallway that led to two bedrooms and one large bathroom. Luna didn’t hesitate to pick her room, throwing her bags down on the bed as her claim. The rooms were decent size and had a pretty similar vibe overall. Only difference was, Luna's room had an extra window.
You dragged your bag into the room that was left to you and plopped down on the soft bed.
“Hey, Y/n! Can you order some food?” Luna called out from her room. As if on queue your stomach growled.
“Yeah! What do you want?” You pulled out your phone and opened up a delivery app, punching in the address to your temporary place. There were plenty of options to choose from as you scrolled.
“I don’t know, you pick. I’m down for whatever. Just make sure it gets here quick.” She answered. You giggled, assuming your friend must have been as hungry as you. Who wouldn’t be after such a long flight? You decided on a simple dinner of Thai noodles for the both of you.
“Food should be here in 20-25!” You yelled out.
“Perfect. Now which one should I wear?” Luna had appeared at your door holding up two different outfits: a mini dress in one hand and a matching two piece set in the other.
“Are you prepping for tomorrow or something?” You inquired while pointing to the mini dress.
“Nope. Tonight.” She smiled innocently at you while returning to her room.
“Tonight?! You’re going out? It’s already late.” You followed her.
“Correction: WE are going out. And it’s not late, it's only a little past 9pm.” She retorted.
“Luna, we’ve been traveling all day and I’m tired, all I want to do is eat and get into bed.” You had your arms crossed over your chest.
“We’re only here for 4 days, Y/n. Come on, it’ll be fun! Pleaseeee?” She pleaded with you.
You pinched the bridge of your nose, “Alright, alright fine. But I’m not taking care of you tonight if you get shit-faced drunk.” You gave in to her begging. Luna jumped over to you to entrap you in a tight hug. “We are going to have tons of fun, you’ll see!” She promised.
Maybe you’d feel a bit more up to it after you got some food in you. Retreating to your room, you rummaged through the clothes in your suitcase to see what outfit you could throw together. You settled on a bustier cami top with black lace detailing, flowy mini skirt, and strappy heels.
Luna and you were in the bathroom doing hair, makeup, and chitchatting when you heard a knock at the door.
Must be the food, you thought.
You went to retrieve the meal and set it on the kitchen counter. Luna came out shortly after to join you. You both ate rather quickly, enjoying the meal before finishing getting ready. By the time you had finally gotten dressed you were even sleepier than before. The full tummy hadn’t helped like you thought.
Nonetheless, you had made an agreement with your friend to go out, plus you were already ready to go. Luna insisted on taking a few pictures to remember the occasion before setting out.
Tumblr media
True to her habits, Luna had forgotten to tell you that you’d be walking to your destination. While it wasn’t freezing cold, the night air was still chilly. You had silently cursed your shoe choice while walking. It wasn’t far thankfully, only about 5 minutes. Once you both made it, you stepped into the bar, immediately being welcomed into the nightlife. The music was loud and the smell of alcohol filled the air.
All of a sudden you felt uncomfortable, you pulled at your skirt making sure it stayed at about mid-thigh and covered your chest with your arms. You hadn’t been out to a bar since before you started dating your ex. He hated when you went out, always making remarks that you dressed ‘too slutty.’ Your brain was filling with thoughts of him and all you wanted to do was find a way back to your room to curl in bed.
Luna noticed your turmoil and grabbed your wrist to pull you to a less crowded area near the bar. She placed a hand on your cheek and looked into your eyes asking the silent question if you were okay. You simply nodded your head, not wanting to ruin your best friend’s night already. She turned to the bartender ordering a couple of drinks for the two of you.
You looked around the place, trying to calm yourself down. It was packed for sure, people dancing and spilling their drinks all over the floor as they bumped into each other. Just then, there was a tap on your shoulder. You jumped, startled but quickly settled when it was just Luna handing you a shot.
“It’s your favorite! It’ll help you loosen up!” She yelled over the loud music.
You took the shot from her hand and clinked it against the one she held in her own before the both of you simultaneously drank. Your face scrunched in disgust. Tequila was not your favorite but it was effective.
After splitting a full sized mixed drink with your friend you did seem to feel a bit more relaxed. You weren’t buzzed, let alone drunk by any means, but the drinks did help in taking away the impending anxiety. However, Luna was a bit of a lightweight and you could already tell she was feeling her alcohol by the way she danced.
“Stay here, I’ll be right back!” You told Luna, leaving her on the dance floor to return to the bar to get another drink. After this one you’d cut her off. Upon reaching the bar you accidentally bumped into someone.
“Sorry, sorry! I didn’t see you there.” The man steadied you with a hand on the small of your back. He simply smiled at you with a shake of his head.
“Don’t worry about it!” He told you. His voice was deep and when you looked up to meet his gaze your eyes widened. He was easily one of the most handsome men you had ever seen. The way his blonde hair framed his freckled face had you mesmerized. His smile was so warm. You pulled your eyes away from him before he thought you had been staring too long. You nodded as if silently apologizing again and turned to order your drink.
You quickly retreated back to find Luna after getting your order. You found her on the dance floor, talking to a guy. She was always outgoing, but got even more friendly when she drank. You stood next to her observing the man, he actually seemed nice, he wasn’t giving off any creepy vibes and was genuinely interested in their conversation. It didn’t take long for Luna to notice you by her side, “oh this is my bestest friend EVER! Isn’t she hot?!” Your face flushed, did she really just?
The man laughed at your horrified expression at your friend’s question. You face palmed in response. The three of you continued with casual conversation, you eventually found out the man’s name was Chan. After a few minutes you excused yourself to go to the restroom. When you got back, Luna and Chan were dancing. Her arms wrapped around his neck and his hands on her waist. You didn’t want to intrude and act as a third wheel so you kind of just stood awkwardly a distance away.
Little did you know a certain blonde man was eyeing you from his seat at the bar. As if in a movie, the crowd of people parted and you turned to meet his gaze for the second time that night. The lights in the bar started flashing to match the beat of the music, the beginning of ‘Carnival’ starting to play. A smirk played on his lips as he finished his glass of whiskey. He got up and made his way over to you.
“Wanna dance?” He leaned down slightly to whisper in your ear. How could you say no to him? You wordlessly responded to him by pulling him closer and swaying your body to the music. You could smell his cologne and the alcohol on his breath. He himself was intoxicating by his presence alone.
“What’s your name, Angel?” He asked as his hands caressed your sides.
“Y/n, what’s yours?”
“That’s such a pretty name. I’m Felix, nice to meet you, gorgeous!” He kissed your cheek. Your body stilled for a split second as a blush creeped up.
Do Australians normally greet like this or is he just bold? Maybe he’s drunk?
He asked a few more questions to get to know you a bit better and in turn you got to know him. You found out that Sydney is his hometown, he’s 23, and he came here with his friend, Chan. You told him that your friend, Luna is currently off somewhere dancing with Chan. You couldn’t remember the last time you’ve had such a good time getting to know another guy. You felt comfortable with Felix to say the least.
What would he say if he saw you with another man? Thoughts of your ex popped into your mind again. You quickly pushed those thoughts aside not wanting to ruin the moment.
Another song that you particularly loved came on and you turned around to dance on Felix. Now you were the one being bold. Felix was pleasantly surprised and took the opportunity to put his hands on your hips to dance with you. The sensual tension between you two had increased as the song went on. Felix placed his face in the junction between your neck and shoulder laying a gentle kiss there as he breathed you in. You reached a hand back to run through his soft hair.
Tumblr media
The night continued into the wee hours of the morning. You and Felix had built plenty of tension in the time you had danced together. You had realized it had been a while since you checked on Luna. As much as you didn’t want to stop dancing with Felix you needed to check on your friend. You excused yourself from his hold to find her practically hanging onto Chan.
“Oh my god, Chan I am so sorry! Luna, how much more did you drink?” You apologized to the man and took your friend from his hold to stand her up straight. All she could do was smile and laugh. Her pupils were blown wide, definitely a sign she was drunk. She stumbled back, but Chan helped you steady her.
“She only had one other drink after you left.” Chan told you.
“Dammit, Luna, I told you no more! Come on, we're going home.” You told her while holding onto her upper arm.
“We can help you!” You heard two voices instead of just one. You looked over to see Felix coming to stand next to Chan. You raised an eyebrow at the both of them.
“It’s fine, it’s only a short walk from here.” You stated.
“You walked here and you think she’ll be able to walk back?” Chan questioned while pointing at your ill-balanced friend.
He had a point. They both seemed nice enough and trustworthy so you took them up on the offer.
The four of you made it out of the bar. You tried getting Luna to walk straight but it proved fruitless as she kept tripping. Chan took Luna from your hold and hoisted her up to carry her on his back. Luna screamed and laughed at first in her drunken state. You watched as your friend was having such a good time getting a simple piggyback ride. Chan was playing into it, twirling in circles every once in a while and running ahead with the biggest smile on his face. You couldn’t help but chuckle at their antics.
Felix was walking right next to you brushing the back of his hand against yours. He kept quiet most of the walk back but would give you a reassuring smile when you looked his way. You’d soon realize he was keeping an eye on the surroundings making sure your little group was safe.
A short bit later, you all had reached the house you and Luna were staying at. You unlocked the door and ushered the others in before you.
“Do you mind carrying her to her room, Chan? It’s down the hallway on the right.”
“Sure thing.” He kept her on his back and made his way to her room. You could hear her squeal once he dropped her down on the bed. Chan made his way back out to the living room to meet back up with you and Felix.
“Pretty sure she’s going to pass out any second now.” Chan said.
“Thanks again, Chan and Felix for walking us back.” You were grateful for their help.
“Ah shit…” Felix whispered while looking at his phone, “All the ride shares are offline right now. Guess we’re hoofing it, Chan.” He patted the older man’s shoulder as they turned towards the door getting ready to leave.
“Wait! It’s like 3am, how far do you guys have to walk?” You asked concerned.
“Probably like an hour walk at least. Wouldn’t you think?” Felix looked at Chan, he nodded his head to confirm.
“Absolutely not, you guys are staying here until you can get a ride.” You said matter of factly.
The boys looked at each other for a moment then back at you.
“It’s really no big deal, we can-“ Chan started,
“No, no I insist. It’s the least I can offer for getting us back safe.” You interrupted.
They put their hands up in defeat. You let them know they could make themselves comfortable on the couch and that you’d be in your room if they needed anything.
Normally, you wouldn’t have even let two men you just met at a bar come into your makeshift home but you were on vacation, they were nice, and you needed help with Luna.
You went into the shared bathroom to brush your teeth and change into your sleep shorts and top before settling into your room. You kept your door open in case the boys or Luna called out for you. A few minutes had passed and you were sat on the bed brushing out your hair when you heard a knock on the doorframe. It was Felix.
“Sorry to intrude, I was feeling kind of lonely since Chan fell asleep on me out there. Mind if I come in?” He seemed shy all of a sudden. You offered a soft smile and pat a spot on the bed for him to come sit. He came over to sit at the edge and looked at you sheepishly.
“I think we’ll be here until sunrise when the ride shares are operational again.” He admitted.
“That’s okay, you guys are more than welcome to stay.” You reiterated while continuing brushing your hair.
Felix was silent for a moment just admiring you. You got up after a while to get some makeup wipes to clean your face. He followed your movements, watching the way your top rid up slightly to show off the dimples on your back.
“How come I’ve never seen you around here before?” He finally asked.
“Luna and I aren’t from here, we came to visit for a getaway.”
“A getaway? Like a vacation?”
“You could say that. She was tired of me ‘rotting’ after my breakup.” You were truthful with him.
“Oh, I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to pry.” He apologized.
“Don’t be, it’s been 6 months and I need to get over it. Easier said than done though.” You sighed as you got back on the bed, sitting crisscrossed with your back against the headboard. Felix seemed more relaxed now and sat opposite you in the same position.
“Is that why you seemed distant at times tonight?”  His inquiry made you slightly cringe.
“You noticed, huh?”
“How could I not? You would tense up and stare into space randomly while we danced.” He gave a light chuckle.
“My ex just plagues my mind sometimes. I wish I could get him out of my head.” You averted your eyes and shook your head.
“I can help you with that… if you want.” He proposed. Your face twisted in confusion, you had no idea what he was even offering.
“How?”
He approached you slowly and leaned in giving you ample opportunity to move away but you didn’t.
“By making you forget,” he said while brushing his lips against yours. Your breath hitched in your throat as you looked up into his brown eyes. All you could do was nod your head and then he fully connected your mouths. All the tension that had been building throughout the night had led up to this moment. Finally kissing Felix felt so right, it sent sparks throughout your body.
His hands came up to cup either side of your jaw, his thumbs rubbing over the apples of your cheeks as the kiss deepened. One hand trailed down to your neck giving an experimental squeeze, not enough to choke you but it still elicited a gasp to escape you. Felix took the chance to push his tongue into your mouth and you welcomed it gladly. Already your mind was becoming fuzzy from just kissing him, you couldn’t imagine how else he’d make you feel.
Felix moved your body down to a more comfortable position as he trailed open mouthed kisses down the column of your throat. His hands moved under your shirt caressing the skin on your waist.
“Can I take this off, Angel?” He asked in a low sultry voice. You nodded.
“Words, Angel. I have to hear you say it.”
“Yes, please,” you whispered.
“Good girl.” He praised before removing your shirt. You didn’t wear a bra to bed normally so your breasts were on full display for him. He leaned back taking in the sight of you. Felix had been staring so long you began getting self-conscious and covering yourself up with your hands, but he stopped you before you could.
“Don’t hide this beautiful body from me.” He kissed your knuckles then returned to kissing down your throat and collarbone. He cupped your breasts in his hands and squeezed them simultaneously, feeling your nipples harden under his palm. You arched your chest trying to get his hands impossibly closer, but he pulled one hand away quickly replacing it with his mouth. He gave a harsh suck, making you moan out softly. Felix continued his actions, giving the same attention to your other nipple.
You laid helpless to his mouth’s attacks under him as you reached up playing with the hair at the nape of his neck. Felix continued his descent down your body nipping, kissing, and sucking down your tummy and not forgetting to pay attention to your hips too. He hooked his fingers into the waistband of your soft sleep shorts and dragged them down your thighs, off of your legs. He was now left staring at your panty covered core. You lifted your legs so your knees were pressing up against your chest. Presenting your cunt to him.
Suddenly, Felix took off his shirt before grabbing your thighs roughly and dragging your body down to the edge of the bed where he kneeled to be face to face with your center. His left hand rubbed the underside of your thighs and your ass as his right hand pulled your panties to the side. A string of your wetness connecting to the fabric of the undergarments.
“Mm you’re practically dripping. I’m going to enjoy making you a mess.” His voice was somehow deeper as he spoke and that alone made your hole clench around nothing. Felix kissed along your right inner thigh, stopping to blow air over your clit, then going to kiss your left thigh. The sensations were making you squirm.
“Felix, p-please,” you whimpered. As if answering your pleading, he flattened his tongue against your cunt licking a long fat stripe from your entrance to your clit before wrapping his lips around the bud and sucking. This caused your back to arch off of the bed and a rather loud moan to rip from your throat. Felix detached his lips from your clit to shove his tongue in your pussy. His tongue was covered in your slick as he fucked it into your hole. Your juices covering his lower face and dripping down his chin as you gushed. Maybe he should have put a towel down with how wet you were getting, but it’s too late for that now. Felix retracted his tongue so he could focus on swirling it around your bundle of nerves. You could feel your abdomen tighten as your impending orgasm was washing over you. Your eyes rolled back in your head and your vision went white for a few seconds. Felix practically sucked your pussy clean with lewd wet sounds filling the room.
You were still coming down from your high as he stood to his feet and quickly did away with his pants. You were finally able to see Felix in all his glory. Toned abs and thighs, his body was breathtaking, his cock even prettier as it was erect at attention. You went to push your panties down but he stopped you.
“Leave them on, you look good in them, Angel,” he admitted with a smirk.
You did as he wished, leaving them on. You had relaxed fully on the bed as he got on his knees between your legs. Felix reached over you to grab a pillow from the head of the bed and placed it in front of his thighs. He then grabbed your hips pulling you down so your ass was in his lap and your lower back was supported by the pillow. You propped your legs up on either side of him as you felt he’d be keeping you in this position for a while. Felix took his cock in one hand, pumping it slowly while his other hand came to rub over your pussy. He gave it a couple of light taps with his fingers making your body jolt from the slight overstimulation. Your body is still sensitive from the orgasm his mouth gave you.
“Hnn c’mon just fuck me already.” You were getting impatient as your neediness grew.
“Patience, Angel. I’ll give you what you need.”
His hand adjusted your panties making sure they’d stay in place at the side. Then he placed two of his fingers at your entrance pushing them in agonizingly slow before pulling them back out slightly, making a whimper leave your lips. Felix picked up the pace pumping his fingers into you in synchrony with pumping his cock. He was scissoring you open, prepping you for the stretch of his cock. The way your moans became more whiney coupled with your cunt clenching around his fingers he knew you were about to cum again.
“I can feel your body, you’re gonna cum again aren’t you?”
“Y-yes! Please lemme cum, wan’ cum for you,” you babbled out as your hips bucked onto his fingers. Felix kept fingering you, hitting that gummy spot that drove you crazy. He got you so close, right to the edge before he pulled his fingers out. Effectively ruining your orgasm. You whined out in protest. Your high gone from grasp. All you could think about was wanting him to get you there again, to take your body over and over again.
Right before you could complain about needing to cum, Felix was rubbing his cock through your wet folds.
“Hmm, your pussy is s’ pretty. All soaked for me. You’re gonna take my cock so well aren’t you, Angel?” He looked into your eyes as his tip was pressing to your hole, but not yet breaching entry.
“Yeah, s’ well. All f’ you.” You were barely making coherent sentences anymore as if forgetting how to talk. Felix let out a dark chuckle, this is exactly how he wanted you.
His cock finally pushed in and he gave his hips an experimental roll to make sure he was slotted deep within you. You moaned out at the stretch of his cock as the walls of your pussy engulfed his member completely. Felix gave you time to adjust as he picked up your legs that were previously at his sides to put them over his shoulders, landing gentle kisses to your calves to help you relax. After a bit he started thrusting into you at a slow and rhythmic pace. He swore under his breath at how good you felt while you struggled to keep your moaning under control so as to not wake your friends. The sounds of wet skin smacking against each other didn’t help either.
Your hands reached out to grab at his legs underneath you and you couldn’t help but dig your nails into his thighs causing him to hiss in return. He steadily picked up the pace while reaching his hand down to rub at your clit. You let out a loud cry of pleasure and he quickly leaned over to capture your lips with his. Swallowing up the moans you were desperately trying to let out. Now that Felix had you somewhat muffled, his pace turned relentless. Pounding into your sopping cunt to hit that sweet spot, his balls smacking against your ass. You tried pulling away to catch your breath and let out your screams but he kept you in place. His arms on either side of your head and mouth slotted against yours. Drinking in every moan, whimper, and scream. Your legs started to shake and he felt your pussy clench hard around his cock as you came again that night. You had never had such a euphoric orgasm before, probably because he edged you. Felix finally removed his mouth from yours and quickly pulled his cock from your soaked hole. He fucked into his fist a few times before hot cum spurted out onto your stomach. His head leaned back as he let out a deep groan.
You were still suffering from the aftershocks of your orgasm, breathing heavy and vision blurry.
“Felix… oh, Felix.” Is all you could mutter out.
He was panting but smiling wickedly as he looked down at you.
“Yeah, keep saying my name, Angel. That’s all you need to know.” He kissed the corner of your mouth, proud of the delirious state he put you in. Felix got off of you to find something to clean you up with. He soon came back with a warm washcloth and wiped the sticky mess from between your thighs and his cum off of your tummy. He disposed of the soiled cloth then returned back to your bed. He smiled as he saw that you were already sound asleep. A job well done on his part. He climbed into bed, pulling your body up in a more comfortable position to cuddle in. Felix kissed your hair before nuzzling his face into your neck and passing out not too long after you.
Tumblr media
Morning came and the sun's rays shone through the window hitting your face. You stirred awake still in Felix’s hold. You could feel his soft snores fanning over your neck. The previous night’s scene replayed in your head making a blush apparent on your cheeks. You’ve never felt so completely satisfied as you did in this moment. Before you could daydream any longer you’d thought it’d be best to get up and check on your friend.
As you tried to sneakily get out of Felix’s grasp he pulled you back even closer to him.
“Where do you think you’re going?” He was awake and his morning voice was so deep you barely recognized it as Felix.
“To put on clothes and check on Luna.”
“She’s fine, Chan’s got her.” He said.
“Chan is probably still asleep too though.” You remarked.
“Hm, good point. Just five more minutes at least. You’re so warm.” Felix pleaded.
You couldn’t say no to him so you settled in for a few more minutes. You turned over to face him and tangled your legs together under the blanket. You and Felix admired each other in a comfortable silence. Felix started to lean towards your lips but you pulled back covering your mouth.
“Nuh uh, I still have morning breath.”
Felix let out a half-hearted laugh, “and I still have the taste of your pussy on my tongue, but you don’t see me complaining.”
Your jaw dropped at his comment and you playfully hit his shoulder.
“Don’t say shit like that!” You whisper-yelled.
“It’s true. Matter of fact, I could go for seconds.” He said before quickly disappearing under the duvet already yanking your panties down your legs, actually taking them off this time.
“Felix! No get up here, right no- ah!” A squeak left your lips as he kissed your clit.
“Well I need to kiss something since you won’t give me your mouth.” You could hear the smirk in his voice. Before you could protest again he got to work on essentially making out with your pussy. Your sweet moans like music to his ears.
Damn this Australian man, he was going to be the death of you.

“I’ve been hearing some talk about you around base, Bagman,” Natasha said while finishing her turn in pool.
“Well, what can I say? Pilots are big talkers,” he responded, bending over the table to take his shot.
“Saying you’ve got someone back home,”
Jake looked up at her, “Yeah, you didn’t know that?”
“So it’s true?”
“Yeah,”
“Are you fucking with me, because it’s not funny.”
Bob, Javy, Bradley, and Mav walk up to the area where they normally hang out in the back of the Hard Deck.
“What’s Jake doing this time,” Bradley asks, handing a beer to Natasha.
She takes a sip of her beer and looks around at everyone, “Is Jake actually married or is he fucking with me?”
“He’s married,” almost everyone says in unison.
“Bagman? Like Jake Seresin? Is married?”
Maverick laughs, “Yep, his high school sweetheart if I’m correct,”
“Yes sir,”
“How do you know that? How did everyone know he’s married?”
“He’s married to my Goddaughter,” Natasha’s mouth dropped open and it was like her jaw was going to hit the floor.
“And one of my childhood friends,” Bradley added.
“What?”
“Yeah. None of us have met her but Jake’s said things here and there about her,” Javy says, taking a seat and pointing in between himself and the rest of the squad, excluding Jake, Bradley, and Maverick.
“This is unbelievable. How is Jake Seresin married and I’m not?”
This weekend was one that wasn’t too busy for the aviators, so you decided to come up to go house hunting with Jake. You wanted to be with him, but you also wanted him to stay at his base in San Diego. So you compromised and decided to move out to California.
Of course you were going to miss your little place in Texas, but it was worth moving if it meant you would be with Jake again. You had been apart for almost 3 weeks while he worked and you got the moving details sorted out.
You flew in around 7 and texted Jake that you were there. He told you to come down to a little bar called the Hard Deck. You heard your stomach rumble, yeah, you could eat.
You managed to get a rental car and drive yourself out there. When you arrived, you couldn’t help but to feel nervous. You hadn’t met any of his fellow pilots or friends in California, well except for Maverick and Penny.
You grabbed your phone and hopped out of the car. Walking in, you spotted Jake across the bar, and you felt like you had butterflies in your stomach. Even after 6 years, he could still make you feel like a high school girl with a crush.
You divert your attention away to behind the bar where you spot Penny. You walk over to her and lean against the bar. She’s pouring a beer, “I’ll be right with you,” she slides the beer down the bar and turns to you.
She gasps and smiles widely, exclaiming your name. “What are you doing here?” She tells someone to cover for her and walks out from behind the bar. She engulfs you in a big hug.
“I’m up here for a while to look for houses with Jake. I mean he’s got a place but we just figured we would rather have a bigger place with a yard, you know, just in case,” you winked.
“I see,” Penny smiled back. She worked her way back behind the bar, “Well what can I get for you tonight?”
“Get me one of whatever Jake is having,”
“I’m on it,” she winked and smiled while going to pour your drink. You kept yourself leaning against the bar.
Jake spotted you from across the bar and got butterflies. Even after 6 years, you could still make him as flustered as the day you met. He set down his cue stick and walked over to Natasha, “Hey, Trace, how much do you bet that I can get that girl’s number,” he pointed over to you.
She looked at him confused, “I thought you were married?” I mean, he had to have a little fun tonight. Jake pretended to slick back his hair and made his way over to you. Natasha watched with a shocked face, but Maverick knew exactly what was happening, this wasn’t the first time he had pulled a stunt like this.
He finally got to where you were standing and leaned against the bar next to you, “Hey, Darlin’, what are you drinking tonight?”
You turned and smiled at him, “You know, I’m havin’ whatever my husband is havin’,”
“Shame you’re married, we could’ve made a good match,” he pretended to pout. You giggled and wrapped your arms around his neck and he leant down and kissed you softly.
Across the bar, Natasha dropped her pool cue in disbelief. She watched Penny come back with a beer and talk to Jake and the mysterious woman. The woman grabbed her beer and Jake grabbed her hand, leading her back to the group. Natasha’s mouth was still wide open.
The pair came over, laughing. “This is my wife,” he introduced you to the Dagger Squad. Natasha shut her mouth, which was now dry and she watched your interactions with the rest of the team. You walked over to Maverick first and he engulfed you in a fatherly-like embrace. “It’s good to see you kid,”
“You too, Uncle Mav.” Okay so Maverick wasn’t lying about you being his Goddaughter. This was unbelievable for Natasha Trace. How in the world is Jake “Hangman” Seresin, married to a sweet thing like you?
You made your way around the area, introducing yourself to all of Jake’s friends.
“Bradshaw,” you smile.
“Wolfe,” you squint your eyes at him, “Not anymore, Bradshaw, I’m a Seresin now, I have been for a while too,”
“Really? You’d rather take on this dip’s name, rather than keep the cool one?”
“Alright, Bradshaw, that’s enough slander on my humble family name,” Jake cut in. Natasha watched the interaction between the three of you, well I guess Bradley wasn’t lying about you being childhood friends.
Maybe she’s in some sort of nightmare, this can’t be real. You walked over to Natasha last, “Hi,” you tried to introduce yourself to her, but Jake interrupted you, “This is the Mrs.,” he said proudly.
You rolled your eyes at him and introduced yourself to her in the way you wanted, “You must be Natasha, I’ve heard so much about you from Mav. He says you’re an amazing pilot,” you smiled at her and she smiled back, in a forced kind of way. She wanted to reach out and touch your face to make sure you were real.
“So you’re married to Jake?”
“Yes, ma’am,”
“Like, you?”
You giggled, “I am,”
“Natasha, seriously–”
“Jake, this is your wife? But she’s so sweet and you’re so… not,”
You gasped, “My Jake? He could never even hurt a fly, his momma raised him better than that. He’s the sweetest man I know!” You knew he wasn’t, but you had to have a little fun. You’ve been with Jake for 6 years, of course you knew he had a temper, teasing tendencies, and a bit of an attitude, but you’d never admit it out loud.
“See, thank you, sweetheart. At least someone has my side,”
“Of course, baby,”
You spent the rest of the night trading stories and sipping beer. The bar began to empty and soon enough it was only your group in there.
Jake was sitting across from you, watching you tell stories of when you two were in high school. He didn’t know how you did it, but just the looks you gave him made him weak in the knees. He began to get more tipsy and more emotionally overwhelmed.
He came over to you and sat down, he laid his head on your shoulder and you didn’t even think twice. You ran your hand through his hair as he lay down, you didn’t even blink when he came over, you just continued to tell your story.
When you were finished talking, he pulled himself up to your ear and whispered to you, asking to go home. You nodded and waited for Bob to finish his story.
When the end of the story came, you stood up and grabbed Jake’s hand, “I think it’s time for us to head out. It was wonderful to meet you all tonight, we should do this again soon.” You all said your goodbyes and you dragged Jake out to the rental car.
“Baby, my truck,” he pouted.
“We can come back for it tomorrow, honey, right now let’s get you home,”
He nodded and followed you to the car, you helped him in and you got into the driver’s seat, you having had much less to drink than Jake. You pulled out of the parking lot of the Hard Deck and began to make your way home to the apartment.
A perfect ending to a perfect night.

Working a case like this was always hard. But this time around, it seemed to be even tougher to get through for her. Five women had already fallen victim to a rapist. Five women murdered. All five women worked in the same company at one point or another, so it was only logical for the team to look into them.
“Reid, y/n, you’re gonna take the statements from the coworkers,” Hotch ordered when the team was being informed about the case in the briefing room. “Rossi, Kate and I will go to the M.E. Morgan, JJ, you’re to go to the latest crime scene. We’ll be working from here.”
Everyone nodded their agreement before leaving the briefing room and heading out to do their part of the job. Y/N had fallen quiet upon hearing the details of this case. Every case they worked was pretty gruesome, but none ever affected her in the same way this one did. Maybe it was the fact that these women were on their way home from work when they were raped and brutally murdered. Maybe it was the fact it was all happening in Washington D.C., where she herself lived.
Whatever the reason was, her sudden silence hadn’t gotten lost on Spencer, her boyfriend of two years.
“Hey, you doing okay?” he asked when they got in the car and drove to the company.
Y/N offered him a smile that all but convinced him. “Yeah. Yeah, I’m okay. Just tired, I guess.”
Spencer had let it go, believing that if his girlfriend wanted to tell him what was bothering her, she would. Instead, he focused on the case. The two of them walked into the company’s building, curious to see what they were going to find out about who worked there.
They sat down with the manager, Tomas Ramos, first. Each taking turns, Spencer and y/n asked the man their questions about the victims and if he knew someone on his staff that could’ve done something like this.
“Oh, no,” the guy said, “There’s no one here that could’ve done that. No one here would ever hurt anyone. We’re a very professional company.”
Spencer and y/n thanked the man for his time and sat down with the next person. Tyler, the finance guy. When he was asked if one of his coworkers could do something like this, his words sounded a little too familiar. “Oh, no. There’s no one here that would do that. No one here would hurt anyone. We’re a very professional company.”
Neither one of the agents commented on it until every single one of the employees told them the same thing. Spencer and y/n exchanged glances, which was enough for the both of them to know they were thinking the same thing.
“I think we should talk to the manager again,” y/n suggested and Spencer agreed.
As y/n sat down on one of the chairs in front of his desk, Spencer placed his hands on the backrest. “You told your employees what to tell us,” Spencer pointed out.
Mr. Ramos furrowed his brows, though y/n noticed the twitch of his lips. “I don’t know what you’re talking about. We’re all just honest people who happen to share the same story. Maybe this is just your sign that you’re looking in the wrong place.” His eyes raked across y/n’s body from head to toe, halting for a split second at her decolletage before focusing on Spencer behind her.
“In most cases, when people’s stories are identical, it means they need everyone to get the story straight to hide something,” Spencer said matter-of-factly.
Tomas shrugged. “I don’t know what you’re talking about, Agents.”
Realizing they weren’t going to get anything else out of Mr. Ramos or any of his employees, Spencer and y/n left the company. There was something about this Mr. Ramos and the way he handled his company that stood out to the couple. They knew he wasn’t speaking the truth and that they were hiding something.
“Do you think it’s him?” Spencer asked when y/n drove them back to the BAU.
Y/N shrugged, sighing. “I don’t know. Every single one of those men was looking at me like I was a piece of meat and the handful of women that work there, looked too scared to say anything. It could literally be anyone working there.”
Together with the team, Spencer and y/n looked into it further. The more they looked, the less sure they were of their profile and theory. Either all of the men in that office were guilty or none of them were and they were looking in the wrong place.
“Y/N,” JJ caught her attention when she and Spencer were looking through the files. The thirty-something looked up at her blonde coworker. “There’s someone here that wants to talk to you. Uh, an employee of Mr. Ramos’.”
Y/N’s eyebrows furrowed as she shot a quick glance at her boyfriend before getting up and following JJ into the family room. A woman, around her own age, sat waiting for her. She was nervous as she picked at the loose skin around her cuticles.
“Amanda?” JJ called out for the woman.
Amanda looked up at the agents, her green eyes wide and filled with fear as she shot up from the small couch. “Agent y/l/n,” she said and shook her hand politely.
Motioning for Amanda to sit down again, y/n took a seat as well. JJ offered her coworker a quick smile before shutting the door to the family room behind her as she left. This seemed like a conversation Amanda wanted to have with y/n alone.
“I know I already talked to you this morning,” Amanda started, hands shaking in her lap. “But I wasn’t entirely honest.”
Y/N’s head tilted slightly as she gave the woman in front of her an inquisitive look. “What do you mean?”
“Tomas told us what to say if there was ever a police investigation of all kinds. He’s…” she took a deep breath. “The office is a very toxic place, especially for women. The women that work there are basically just a token to show the world that Ramos Inc. is inclusive. If it wasn’t for the feminist movement, none of the women would work there.”
“Why do you work there?” Y/N wanted to know.
Shrugging, Amanda heaved in another deep breath. “I’m good at my job, it pays very decently and I love watching those men squirm whenever I fix something they couldn’t.” She let out a soft chuckle at that and y/n couldn’t help but feel a slight sense of pride at this confident woman. “The thing is though… Because I’m so good at my job, these men think I owe them for it or something. Every one of my female coworkers feels the same.”
A shiver went down y/n’s spine. She knew this story all too well.
“Has any of them ever been inappropriate with you?” y/n then asked, but Amanda simply scoffed.
“Which one of them hasn’t?” Y/N stared at Amanda for a moment. There could literally be a guy working at the firm she was working at that raped and murdered five women. “But Andrew is the one you should be looking at.” The words piqued y/n’s interest. “He almost…” Amanda swallowed her words, but y/n didn’t need anything else from her to know this Andrew guy was the one they should be looking at.
“Do you know why he’s still working at the firm?” she asked.
Amanda grimaced. “Because he’s Tomas’ little brother.”
With that information, y/n thanked Amanda and headed out to the briefing room where her coworkers were still working hard on the case. Her brain was going at a hundred miles an hour, trying to piece everything together. Of course it was Andrew Ramos. She and Spencer had talked to him before. He’d given her the creeps then, too. She should’ve felt it.
“It’s Andrew Ramos,” y/n informed her coworkers.
The team did a deep dive into Andrew’s life. Nothing they found could pinpoint him in the area at the time the murders happened. Everything had been seemingly sweeped under the rug, no doubt by his big brother. They worked for two days straight on trying to find evidence that Andrew Ramos did indeed rape and kill those women.
Y/N didn’t even go home while the others did. She needed to get this done. She needed to get this guy.
“Hey,” Spencer greeted when he walked into the breakroom where he found his girlfriend on the second morning in sweatpants and a BAU shirt she probably found at the lost and found. “What are you doing? You didn’t come home for two nights.”
Y/N sighed and looked up at him. She looked worse for wear. Her hair was messy, her makeup smudged underneath her eyes and she had exchanged her contacts for her glasses because they were drying out her eyes. “I need to get this guy, Spence. I won’t sleep until I do.”
Spencer looked at his girlfriend for a moment. There was something that had rendered her silent when they first took on the case, but he didn’t want to push it then. Though right now, he really had no other choice than to ask.
“Why is this case bugging you so much, y/n? You’ve never done this before,” he said whilst sitting down next to her on the couch.
“It’s just… Remember how I was a detective before I came to the BAU?” she asked and Spencer nodded in response. “My Captain back then, he was kind of my mentor. When I made my biggest arrest ever, he took me out to dinner to celebrate. I-I thought it was gonna be the whole team, you know? We all worked hard to arrest those guys. But no, it was just me. That night he-he tried to kiss me…” Tears welled up in Y/N’s eyes that she couldn’t hold back. “I just… I threw my glass of Martini at him and ran out of the restaurant. I transferred to another precinct the next day…”
Spencer’s eyes glazed over as he grabbed his girlfriend’s hand in his. “I’m so sorry, angel.”
Shaking her head, y/n sniffled. “It’s the same for so many women. Literally every woman I know has been sexually harassed. For some it’s on the daily… It’s just so hard being a woman sometimes because you just… men just think they own you and that you owe them your life and your achievements. Everything we do is for the men, according to them. And I just… I hate how there’s this one guy in this one firm that can get away with five counts of rape and murder just because his big brother can pull some strings. If we as women say something about the sexual harassment we encounter every day, we ruin the guy’s life. But they’re literally out there, murdering women.”
With a sigh, Spencer wrapped his arms around y/n and held her against him for a hug. It only lasted a good half minute before he pulled back and got up, earning a confused glare from the woman.
“Where are you going?” she asked, wiping her tears away quickly.
“I’m going to get you a change of clothes and some coffee. After that, we’re gonna work together to solve this case. This guy is going to jail today, baby. I promise.” He sounded so determined, it put a smile to y/n’s face.
Spencer shot her a smile back before turning on his heel. “Hey, Spence.” He turned back to face her. “I love you.”
“I love you too, honey.” He looked at her for a second longer. “I’m also gonna get you a hairbrush, but you only have to use it if you want to use it.”
With a nod and a smile from his girlfriend, Spencer headed home to get everything he needed to get her back to her normal self. The fresh pair of clothes, the hairbrush and especially the coffee made her feel almost brand-new. Which helped a lot in solving the case.
Spencer and y/n eventually worked it out with the help of Penelope’s illegal sleuthing to pin the guy and get him locked up. It made the weight on y/n’s shoulders drop as she walked back into the BAU with Spencer. Never had she ever felt this drained after a case.
“You did a great job, y/n,” Emily congratulated her with a smile and a squeeze of the shoulder.
Y/N offered her coworker a tired smile. “Thanks, Em.”
“Why aren’t you happy about it?” JJ wanted to know, her brows furrowed in confusion.
Sighing, y/n shrugged. “I don’t know… It’s just one guy we managed to put away when there are so many other guys like that walking around…”
“It’s like that with every case, y/n,” Rossi reminded her. “You did great. One more guy you put away.”
A smile befell y/n’s lips as she listened to her colleagues, but before she could say anything, Spencer beat her to it. “Y/N’s just upset because the historically entrenched patriarchy has created a culture of victim-shaming that suppresses any power shift in our masculo-phallic system.”
Of all the facts he ever ranted about, y/n didn’t expect him to start ranting about a feminist topic. It was the first time he had ever even shown such interest in feminism. She couldn’t lie that it surprised her in a very good way that would become of use in the bedroom later that night.
“I couldn’t sleep last night, so I read some books about feminism,” he added with a tight-lipped smile.
“I love you,” y/n whispered. “But it still kinda sucks that people like Amanda still have to work there and that women are murdered and raped every day.”
“Look, this is a hard fight, but it’s an important one,” Emily reassured her. “It’s good that you rid the world of one more of those guys. Step by step, y/n.”
The woman nodded her head as she let the words sink in. She had done a good job. Even if it was just one of many guys, it still was one guy less. With that in mind, she headed into Hotch’s office for the debrief. It was short but ended on a sweet note, with Hotch telling her how good of a job she did, only further reassurance of what her other coworkers had already told her. After her debrief with Hotch, it was finally time to go home with Spencer. Something she had been looking forward to since they started their super deep-dive into Andrew Ramos’ life to get the proof they needed.
“Did you know that it’s two women who hold the highest IQ-scores?” Spencer asked her when they were lying in bed together, ready to sleep. He had been rambling off facts about feminism that he’d learned about when reading last night.
Y/N, who was laying on his chest, turned her head to look up at him. “Oh, so you don’t have the highest IQ in the world?”
“No,” he answered, “I’m glad it’s two women holding that title.”
Chuckling, y/n turned her head again and began circling patterns on his T-shirt-clad chest. “I’m glad I awakened the feminist in you.”
Spencer couldn’t help but smile and buried it in her hair to press a kiss to the crown of her head. “Is it really that bad for you? You know, on the daily?”
A sigh rolled off y/n’s lips as she thought about it. “I can think of four instances that happened today alone,” she started. “When we went to get coffee this morning, the barista wished you a good day and he told me I had beautiful eyes before wishing me the same. Even when Andrew was being handcuffed, he was still eyeing me up as if trying to calculate how to make me his sixth victim. In the elevator this morning, Robert from the seventh floor stood behind me, a little too closely while there was plenty of space for him. And when we went to pay for gas earlier, the guy behind the till was so confused as to why I was paying for gas. When I told him it was because I was driving, he looked at me as though I was speaking a foreign language and he literally said “girls can’t drive”.”
Y/N was almost out of breath from summing up all the instances.
“Wow,” Spencer gasped. “I didn’t know it was that bad for you.”
An airy chuckle erupted from her throat. “Yeah, some days are better than others, but it’s always something. As young girls, we’re taught to behave, never be loud, always apologize. We’ve learned not to say anything about it because society taught us that ‘boys will be boys’. It’s exhausting, you know?”
“I don’t,” Spencer mumbled. “But I am willing to learn.”
At his words, y/n turned on her side and propped her head up on her hand, elbow resting just above Spencer’s shoulder. His golden-speckled eyes looked inquisitively into her y/e/c ones. “You’re amazing, you know that?” she asked and pecked his lips.
“Mmh, you’re amazing,” he argued before she kissed him again. Deeper and more sensual this time. “You never have to apologize to me, you know that?”
Y/N’s eyebrow raised. “Not even when I steal the last of Penelope’s homemade cookies?”
Her mention of the homemade cookies Penelope had given them a few days ago made Spencer’s eyes go wide. This was her confessing that she was the one who had eaten the last three cookies in the tin when they could’ve shared them. “You ate the last ones?!” he asked incredulously.
“Yes, I did…” she pouted, her bottom lip jutting out innocently.
“You devil woman!” he exclaimed before attacking her sides with his fingers, sending her into a fit of laughter at his tickles. “How dare you steal those delicious goods from me! We could’ve shared!”
Exclaims of ‘stop’ bounced off the walls, along with her laughter while she tried to pry his hands off her to stop his attack. When he finally did, y/n calmed down again and even faltered when, instead, he attacked her lips with his in a long kiss.
“I love you, y/n y/l/n,” he muttered when he pulled back, his forehead pressed to hers.
Smiling, y/n kissed his nose. “I love you, Spencer ‘The Feminist’ Reid.”
Spencer was always able to get her mind off the case, no matter how tough. In this instance, he’d been the buoys that kept her afloat, the rock that kept her steady. He’d been exactly what she needed him to be in a world that seemed to be against her and every other woman.
Thanks to him, she dared to be seen, she dared to be loud.
Because girls can drive.

afterglow- pt.4 [ T.A.A ]
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
pairings: trent alexander arnold x fem!reader
summary: young and aspiring marketing and business major jamie carter (you) is privileged with working alongside the liverpool marketing and public relations team while also getting entangled with their star player and right back, trent alexander arnold.
genre(s): friends?? to lovers, work romance, fluff
[wc: 7.8k] [part 1] [part 2] [part 3] [part 5] [part 6] [part 7] [part 8]
Tumblr media
the atmosphere in the training center's gym was thick. not just because of the humidity but because everyone was in genuine awe as they listened to trent talk about what happened a few days ago at their match.
it took him three days to think the situation over. nobody in their right mind would ask whether or not someone had a partner without there being an ulterior motive, right? right??
your question had kept him up for hours at night, but it was so nonchalant that he didn't know if he was supposed to think anything of it. it didn't make sense. so he turned to help from his teammates, and considering that half of them were in relationships, they would give him solid advice. (which was laughable)
"she wants you," dominik deadpanned which caught everyone's attention but nobody was convinced.
virgil crossed his arms and looked him with his eyebrows quirked. curious to hear his reasoning. "and how would you know?"
dominik snickered. "because I do. she's one of those girls who flirt nonchalantly. to her, she might just find it fun to tease you right now with no actual intention but it'll get to her."
once again the room fell silent as eveyone tried to wrap what he said around their heads.
"is this guy serious?" robbo asked and pointed to dominik who just shrugged from his position on the mat.
just then someone walked into the gym, ready to bring forward their own opinion. "if she likes you then her intentions will be clear."
the spotlight was now on the group's manager but his opinion wasn't appreciated at all. apparently it was too outdated.
"women don't work like that anymore boss," ibou retorted and got a choir of agreement but their boss still shook his head.
he turned to look at trent, who looked more troubled than before, and he couldn't help but stifle a laugh. "trent, do you like her?'
the right back who was deep in thought broke out of his daze that was utter turmoil. "I mean I don't even know her. we've had like two conversations."
"did you enjoy those conversations?"
the team began to grow invested in the little back and forth and stopped what they were doing to pay more attention. it was nothing short of heated- the way that jurgen was firing questions at trent and how he nearly buckled with each answer.
"I mean yeah." he focused his gaze on the floor. "I find her amusing I guess. but maybe that's just me."
"oh no, it's not just you," ali scoffed as he recalled their conversation the other day. "she is quite the charmer. very easy to talk to and nothing short of playful."
trent snapped his fingers back at ali in agreement. "yes. that."
conversation broke out in the gym again with everyone voicing their opinions on the matter to try and figure out whether or not trent actually liked her. but he kept on saying, "I don't know. I just met her."
jurgen got up from one of the chairs in the room and gave everyone a wave, but he knew they weren't paying attention. "thursday."
that single word brought their attention to the door where their boss was standing with a lopsided smile on his face.
"we're playing at raiffiesen on thursday," curtis prompted in an attempt to get an answer and jurgen nodded, his attention turned to trent who wasn't playing the match that thursday.
"jamie won't be joining us because her pitch is due that morning. do what you want with that information but if you like her, I'm sure you'll know in no-time. but take your time and get to know her. she's quite the character."
Tumblr media
you were taking an uber to work today instead of driving by yourself. It had been a while since you took public transport, you genuinely considered it such a hassle and just took the blow and paid some extra cash for an uber.
the reason for this, however, was strange. before you left the house this morning, you had gotten a call from jurgen asking you if you could accompany martin diggle, who was the head of coaching at the academy to the academy that afternoon seeing as they were considering broadening their promotional content for the boys on that side.
you agreed of course but the confusion in your voice was clear even after you put the phone down. why did you have to go with him? there were plenty of other staff with more experience than you anyway, but you brushed it off and focused on today's main goal.
getting your pitch approved.
so when you walked into the office with your head held high and a look of determination on your face you hadn't expected to be hit with a, "I see where you're coming from and the first project is fresh. we'll get back to you after further discussion. thank you ms carter."
it was nothing short of a blow to the gut. it wasn't a rejection per se, but it wasn't an approval either and that didn't sit well. how long were you going to have to wait? was marvin just being nice? was your pitch that bad? was it too impractical? were you being selfish?
"was it that bad?"
your head shot up at the question. you lifted your gaze from the the floor, tightening your grip on your laptop bag that was slung over your shoulder. a look of confusion settled on your face, expecting to see martin since you'd be going with him.
instead you were face to face with trent, his back leaned against his car- a black range rover. he pushed himself off the side of the car and shot you a smile to which you furrowed your eyebrows.
"what are you doing here?" you asked, not taking a step further.
a dry chuckle fell from his lips. "you mean at the liverpool hq? the hq of the football club that I've been playing for nearly my entire life?"
you could see the amusement dancing in his eyes knowing that he got you right where he wanted you. okay so maybe it was a dumb question, but it made sense. he had no reason to be there— he should've been at home resting.
"hilarious." you faked a smile. obviously he knew what you meant by the question and decided to tease you but you weren't in the mood.
trent couldn't help but stare at you, his eyes roaming your features and taking in as much of you as he could to cure his little predicament and the many questions swarming through his mind.
he still didn't know much about you, and stalki- i mean viewing your socials could only get him so far. he knew that you had an older sister, he knew about your ex boyfriend michael, he knew that you had and amazing sense of style, and that you loved your job with a passion.
but that wasn't enough to feed his curiosity. he wanted to know more than just the surface level attributes. he needed to know more.
"are you even listening to me right now?" you asked while waving a hand in front of his face. you'd been talking for quite some time and you were convinced that he wasn't listening at all.
trent shook his head with an amused smile and opened the car door he was standing infront of. "get in."
your eyes lips parted in shock. "I'm waiting for--"
you were rudely cut off by the feeling of your phone vibrating in your pants pocket and you quickly answered it, yours eyes still lingering on trent who knew exactly who you were talking to.
"no it's fine. he just got here anyway." your tone was soft and polite but the look that you were sending the right back was nothing of the sort.
when you heard martin hang up you hurriedly put your phone back and made your way into the passenger seat of trent's car, still holding the door open for you. "aren't you just adorable?"
he smiled at your mocking tone and sent you a look that made your heart jump. "well aren't you just an ego booster?"
Tumblr media
when you got to the academy that early afternoon you didn't really know what to expect. but oh gosh were you left in awe. talk about prestigious.
your eyes roamed the buildings interior, the occasional gasp leaving your mouth which would get a stifled laugh from trent. he walked beside you with his hands in his pockets, a huge pang of nostalgia washing over him as he reminisced on his academy days.
"I can't believe you actually got the opportunity to train here," you gasped when you stepped out onto the field, where you saw the u18's doing their drills.
he let out a knowing hum and lead you over to where the academy's u18 coach- jay spearing was stood, leading the group of teenagers. if there was one thing that you knew then it was thar liverpool's academy players were nothing short of astonishing.
trent, curtis, jarell, and soon you could feel that a few new kids would be added to the list.
"what do we have here?" jay asked in surprise when he saw you and trent approaching, a smile present on his face when he saw the right back.
you watched as the older man brought trent into a hug, patting him on the back adoringly and sharing a few words before trent gestured to you. "this is ms c--"
trent's voice subtly cracked in uncertainty when he stopped mid introduction, which was strange. he turned back to you and then to jay with a smile. "--this is jamie. the head of our p.r team."
an impressed hum left jay's lips as he recalled what jurgen had said not to long ago about you. "It's nice to meet you jamie. I hope trent isn't bothering you too much. he's a bit of a handful."
he nudged the younger on his arm and you couldn't help but stifle a laugh. "I'm afraid that's an understatement."
trent put his hand over his heart in mock offence and gasped. "I could say the same about you."
the three of you spent a few more minutes talking about the team and how jurgen had been coming over quite a bit to view some of the youngsters for reserves, seeing as they were playing exceptionally well.
"he's had his eye on bradley, beck and doak for a while now. kaide gordon as well, but he's been out due to an injury."
you both listened to jay give his rundown on the recent observations while you watched the group of boys do their usual target practice. however, it was obvious that trent was scouting and you were thinking of ways to get these boys out in the public.
"do you think they'd let me take them out on a field trip?"
the question caught trent's attention as he turned to look at your side profile. "a field trip to where?"
you shrugged your shoulders, not too sure yet. "a hike."
"a hike?? are you craz--"
"--shush trent they're coming." you shut him up immediately by hitting his chest, your attention fixed on the group of boys walking your way.
now normally if you were to see a professional footballer, probably the blue print for the new generation and beside him a girl who was on the p.r team and a social media influencer of sorts there wouldn't be much debate as to who you'd want to meet.
both you and trent knew that, and you couldn't see the way he was mentally preparing himself to be greeted and questioned while you stood there silently and observed the interaction.
or well so you thought. what you didn't expect was for trent to get a head start and greet the group of boys, praising them for their hard work and offering to take a few pictures so that you could post them and it actually made a lot of sense.
you got your phone out and got ready, but to your surprise he was shot down. "we're actually here for jamie."
"what?" you both said in unison in visible shock.
"we're fans," one of the boys said sheepishly and you felt your heart melt.
trent was dumbfounded. he didn't know what to say or do, still trying to accept the fact that he was openly rejected. but you on the other hand tried to play it off as cool as possible.
it was normal for fans to approach you in public, but the fact that you had a fanbase and supporters was something that would always come as a shock. you didn't do much to deserve it, or at least that's you thought.
a smile drew to your lips, making sure to send trent a look. "well aren't you just an ego booster?"

"so, how did it go?"
you jumped up at the sound of maya's voice echoing through the empty apartment. "son of a bitch."
all the lights were off so you assumed that she had gone to bed already and tried to shut the door as silently as possible, but here she was. sitting on the couch with a cup of coffee and the lamp on.
you dropped your bags to the floor and tried to lessen the fright that you had gotten but your sister couldn't have cared less. "It's nearly 10. no way you just went for ice-cream."
you felt like a rogue teenager at that moment. mentally preparing yourself for a scolding and at least 2 weeks of being grounded. "well sorry to disappoint," you joked and took off your jacket. "the ice cream was amazing though."
maya couldn't believe your answer and tore the blanket off her body to follow you into your bedroom. she watched as you got your things ready so you could shower and proceeded to bombard you with as many questions possible.
and you gave her the same response each time. after the academy, you took a drive to kill some time, got ice cream, and then you were dropped off. literally nothing happened.
"we just talked about normal things--" you tied up your hair, "--the weather, the state of our economy, why the earth is flat. nothing strange."
maya pulled a face and shook her head, "I hate you so much, ugh."
it wasn't long before you made yourself comfortable in bed, creeping underneath your blankets and succumbing to the warmth and security that it brought you. your mind drifted elsewhere for a moment and you were back to your anxious state.
the pitch.
it had only been a few hours but you were starting to rethink the entire idea. you could say that it was rather selfish of you to use yours and trent's little bet as a form of entertainment but it was a win-win situation. the team would get to practice but in the form of games and so much more fun, while getting their publicity.
that was entertainment.
you were just about to put off your phone and head off to sleep when you got the email. the green light.
dear ms carter,
apologies for the late outreach but I had a few things to sort out back at the office.
regarding your pitch however, I'd like to happily inform you that your pitch was approved by the directors as well as jurgen who was more then delighted to give it a go.
I trust that you have the logistics sorted out. and that you are able to start filming by october 9th seeing as the team have a busy match schedule for the rest of the month, so we'll need your undivided attention on our schedule as well.
I am excited to see how you take charge of this project and I hope it leads in your favour.
sincerely,
marvin colesmen

Slashers find out their S/O has killed:
Tumblr media
[Part 3]
Cw: blood, murder, sexual themes, GN! Reader, blood kink, sex mentions
CHARACTERS: Bo Sinclair, Lester Sinclair, Bubba Sawyer, Kurt Kunkle, Patrick Bateman, Hannibal Lector, Normal Bates
BO SINCLAIR
He was trying to lure in victims into his house for Vincent to kill
"Let me help you with that,"
BAM!
Blood splatters all over him
"THE FUCK-"
He's absolutely shocked
The hell did you come from?
"Sorry, Baby Bo."
He's finally staring at you, and you're holding a goddamn bat
A bloody bat.
Theres blood on him.
And it belongs to the person he was trying to lure in...
click. He could quite literally hear that noise as it finally clicked in his mind about what you had done
You just killed the person he was trying to lure in...
"H-HOLY SHIT!-"
"Y-YOU JUST?!-"
"WHERE DID YOU?!-"
"HUH?!"
He's just staring at you while you wipe the blood off his messy, bloody shirt
He snaps out of his daze when you land quick peck on his chapped lips
And where you this hot...?!
Needless to say, hes was very shocked and confused.
He still is, but hes come to an acceptance that you also kill people
LESTER SINCLAIR
"Les, i got something!"
"coming!"
He hopped in the truck and ruffled your hair
"Good job! What animal did you get?"
"You'll see~"
What in the hell did you mean by that.
He shrugged it off and let you drive
He noticed that the closer you guys got to your catch, the animals did in fact NOT look like animals
It looks like two people inspecting 4 dead bodies
wait,
WHAT THE FUCK-
Blood spilled all over the car windows
You just sat there laughing
When he got into the truck, he was expecting you got a roadkill
NOT FUCKING 6 HUMAN DEAD BODIES
He's shocked, he will not get over this
"O-oh, well, i have a killer S/O. That's nice..."
He's trying to rethink his life while you're just sitting there hugging him with dead bodies in front of the car
BUBBA SAWYER
He had just come back from chasing around a group full of boys and girls
He was very upset
He only managed to get 3 out of 6!
the other 3 went missing
He just assumed they had escaped
Though, there was no trail that they had escaped
Which confused him greatly
He noticed you cutting up something
Then he saw three heads and one alive chicken
Just what he needed
Some nice dinner
Wait.
Where'd you get those heads?
WAIT WERE THOSE THE OTHER THREE?!-
"Hey, Bub. These rascals were running around the house, and i wasn't going to let them make a mess here."
He's silent for a minute
"Bub? is something wrong?-"
You yelped when he picked you up and hugged your body against his
Happy babbling from him
KURT KUNKLE
Lets all be honest,
You both would use both of you're craziness to get fame
You would wear a mask while filming yourself stabbing someone
He would pretend that its special effects
Only on Halloween since its more believable
Has you hiding in the trunk of the car so you can pop out and slit the persons throat
Will actually laugh at this
He'll do those couple challenges with you after you'd just killed someone
Just watches you as you kill one of his passengers
Will automatically say 'no' if someone asked for help
He'll start driving crazy fast just to scare the passengers
Not too fast where the cops had to stop him though
He first met you when you were robbing a convenience store
You had a mask on and a gun held in your hand
He was confused on how the police hadnt come yet
That was until he saw that the cameras were shot down
You had killed almost everyone and was money and some snacks
You noticed his figure standing there, so you pointed your gun at him
"Woah, woah! Lets calm down now, alright?"
You held your gun down
You thought he was cute
He was your type
So, you just hopped over the counter and grabbed him
"W-wait, where we going?!-"
You ran out of the back door and into an alleyway
You took off your mask and put your index finger to your lips
He thought you was mad cute
"U-uh, so, whats your n-name? im Kurt-"
"Shut up, and move faster."
PATRICK BATEMAN
He honestly would not care
Oh, you kill?
Well, he kills too!
He would most likely team up with you, his S/O, to get rid of people who annoyed him
He thinks you're attractive when you kill
Sex after you or him had killed
He would literally go DOWN on you
slight blood kink
But doesn't like it when you have someone else's blood on you while you two are getting intimate
Doesn't like someone else's blood on him either
So, he'll shower or have you shower first
And after that, he'll pull out that knife and make little nips and cuts on your body
One way of him marking you
He'll show you off even more
He honestly knows if someone tried flirting with you, they'd be gone
And not because of him
HANNIBAL LECTOR
He came home and couldnt find you
He had checked everywhere in the house, except for one place
The garage
He opened the garage door to see you holding 2 huge bagged items
And 4 un-bagged...
Human bodies...
And 3 chickens
"Han! We ran out of food, so i got what you liked and something for me as well. Do remind me, which organ do you like best?"
He was shocked to say
But he quickly got over it
"Any is fine, dear."
He had a sincere smile plastered on his face
This made him feel more secure about you
His S/O went through the trouble to make him dinner that fits his interesting taste?
How...
Lovely.
He would have to find out a way to repay you
NORMAN BATES
He liked you. A lot.
But his mother didnt
At first.
You stepped into the bates motel with someone else with you
Norma, Normans mother, was already judging you
Norma took over when you went into your room with that other person
He made it towards your room, in front of your door
Then he heard screams
Norma was absolutely shocked
He used the master key to open the door and saw you murdering the other person you had come into the motel with
Norma took a liking to you
Someone who was like her son...
She didn't like the thought of her son, Norman, around people like you
But you were an exception
Norman had also liked you
The next day, Norman had took it upon himself to talk to you
Norma had encouraged him too
"H-hi, Im-Im Norman."
"Hello, Norman."
He fainted.

Chapter 7
Pairing: SingleDad!StevexReader
Summary: You are a 32 year old single mother, raising your seven year old son on your own. No posting schedule.

“Now, Eli, remember what we talked about?” you asked your son from the driver’s seat.
You were on your way over to Steve’s house for the cookout and you'd had to lay down some ground rules for your son before you'd left. You could not bear a repeat of the ice skating disaster, especially not in front of his friends. You could just imagine how horrified they would be for you with your son desperately trying to find you a man like you were some pathetic spinster who couldn’t manage to get one on your own.
You could. You absolutely could if you wanted to. You could if there were any decent options out there. Options that didn’t include guys who collected their toenail clippings like they were trading cards or who didn’t call their ex to ensure they drove by while you were at dinner because they were just using you to make them jealous.
But there were options, weren’t there? Steve was an option. Steve was an option that was perfect. You'd yet to find a flaw in him and it was beginning to frustrate you. Maybe that was why he wasn’t an option. How could you ever be good enough to compete with his perfection? Your entire body sagged with exhaustion at the mere thought of trying to be good enough for him.
“I know, mommy. No talking about marriage or dating.”
“And?”
“And definitely no telling Steve that I want him to be my dad.”
“Yes, exactly,” you nodded, smiling at your son in the mirror. But the face that greeted you did not smile. He looked absolutely miserable, deflated, as if you'd taken a needle and popped the balloon that was all his hopes and dreams. You felt like the worst mother ever.
Was it really so awful that Eli wanted a dad? Janice was right. He had a dad. Justin would always be his dad but Justin would never be able to be there for him. He wouldn’t be there to cheer him on at games. He wouldn’t be there to talk to him about dating. He wouldn’t be there to teach him how to shave. He wouldn’t watch him graduate high school or show him how to drive a car.
Of course your son wanted someone to step into those shoes. Of course he wanted someone who could be everything he was missing. It wasn’t awful that he wanted a man in his life but it was mortifying that he was asking some guy he barely knew to not only be his dad but to be your boyfriend. Hell, your husband, because those two were already planning out a wedding, moving in together, being a fully formed family. How could you get him to understand why it wasn’t okay to say those things without breaking his little heart?
“Listen, buddy…I know you want a dad. I know you see Jeremiah with Steve and you are seeing everything that you don’t have. I know how much you miss your dad and there’s nothing wrong with wishing you had that. And Steve is wonderful. I can see why you would choose him but the thing is, you can’t just choose someone. It doesn’t work like that and Steve barely knows us. You can enjoy spending time with him and hanging out with him. You can even love him but you can’t just ask someone to be your dad and you definitely can’t ask someone to be my husband. That has to be something that the grown ups decide.”
“So why aren’t you deciding it?”
“Eli, we barely know each other.”
“So? Jeremiah and I barely knew each other when we decided we were gonna be best friends. Don’t you like him?” your son stubbornly asked and damn, he looked so much like Justin. Justin used to get that exact look on his face when you were being a pain in the ass, which was quite often if you were honest.
“I do. I like Steve a lot.”
“So, why don’t you guys go on a date? You went on a date with those other guys and you said it was awful. But you didn’t know them. You already know Steve and you said he’s wonderful. Just go on a date and make the decision.”
Once again, you found yourself wishing that life were as simple as your son seemed to think it was. But it wasn’t. Nothing about this was simple. You were a mess. You were the emotional equivalent of a town leveled by a tornado. You couldn’t get out of your head long enough to even allow yourself to relax with Steve. How would you ever ask him out?
“I’m sorry, Eli. I’m sorry if Mommy hasn’t been doing a good enough job.”
“What do you mean?”
“I try. I try to be both for you. I know you’re missing out on something and I try to make up for it but I know I can never be everything your dad would have been for you. I’m sorry if you’re feeling like this because I haven’t done enough.”
“No, mommy. You’re the best mommy in the world. You read comics with me, we have backwards dinner, we build legos together. I don’t want Steve to be my daddy because you’re not enough. I want Steve to be my daddy because I think it would make you happy too. You’re the best mommy and you’re so sad sometimes. I hear you crying and it makes me really sad. I know it’s because you’re all alone. I just want you to be happy and when you’re with Steve you smile all the time. I think being a family with him and Jeremiah would make all of us happy.”
You blinked fast and furious against the tears, “Buddy, you are the best thing that’s ever happened to me. You make me so happy. I’m not ever alone because I have you.”
“But you need a person. You always say daddy was your person. I know I make you happy but I think you need someone to be in love with like Belle and Beast or Aladdin and Jasmine. You take such good care of me. You should have someone to take care of you and Steve is a nice guy. I think he would take really good care of you.”
You slowed as you turned onto Steve’s street, releasing a slow breath. Your son wasn’t wrong. Steve would take amazing care of you. He would take amazing care of your son. You didn’t think he could ever be capable of anything less than amazing.
He was everything that authors wrote about in romance novels. He was the leading man in every romantic movie you'd ever watched. He was the guy you imagined in your dreams when you were a little girl, picturing the guy you would marry, your soulmate, your person. He was fiction come to life, the very definition of flawless. And you just kept getting in your own way, terrified to move forward, scared of what that could mean, of the power that would give him, knowing you couldn’t survive another loss.
Maybe Janice was right. Maybe your son was right. Maybe you needed to take that step, to stop being frozen in time and finally start moving forward. Maybe you needed to stop being petrified of what could happen in the future and just enjoy the moment, now, while you had it. Maybe you needed to stop living with a ghost, a ghost who wasn’t there anymore, a ghost who couldn’t love you. Maybe Justin would want you to be happy, would want your son to have someone in his life. Of course he’d rather it be him, but if it couldn’t be, you had to believe that he wouldn’t want them to be all alone. He would want to know they were taken care of.
“You know what? How about we let this one play out on its own and see what happens?” you asked your son, turning to him as you parked the car in the drive. “We don’t even know if Steve likes me or would want to go on a date with me. You never know what could happen but you can’t force it to happen, okay?”
There it was. There was that bright light shining in your son’s eyes that you loved so much. There was that hope that everything was going to be okay. No, not hope, belief. His little seven year old self just believed that everything would work out and you envied him for that, wishing it could be so easy for you. He nodded eagerly at you with a big toothy grin but there was something a little mischievous in his expression that left you a bit uneasy. Had he heard all your words or, like usual, had he only heard the parts he wanted to listen to?
“Eli…” you began but then your door was being wrenched open and a voice was screeching in your ear.
“Oh my god! Steve said you were coming but I didn’t believe him and now you’re here and I finally get to meet you! I am so excited!”
A blur of dark blond hair, white teeth, and flailing arms grabbed onto you, pulling you from the car and into a bone crushing hug. You gasped for breath, your brain racing to catch up to whatever the hell was happening right now. Who was this person and why were they so excited to see her?
“Robin! Jesus Christ…”
Steve’s irritated voice rang over the squeals in your ear and then the girl’s body was being pulled away from you. You blinked, dazed from her crazed welcome, to find Steve pinching the bridge of his nose. He sighed deeply, shaking his head.
“I’m so sorry about that. She’s like a tidal wave that’s just crashing over you before you can even run and then suddenly you’re drowning. She’s been bouncing around my kitchen, watching out the window for the two of you to get here.”
You glanced from Steve to Robin who was clicking her fingers together, bouncing on her toes, a huge grin separating her face in two. So, this was the best friend. It came back to you now that you could get proper oxygen to your brain once again.
She was pretty, the kind of pretty that just was without even trying very hard. Dark blond waves fell down to her shoulders. Deep blue eyes sat atop a perky nose that was splattered with freckles that continued along her cheeks. She wore a black tee with cargo pants and tennis shoes. She had minimal make-up on, just a touch of mascara and lip gloss and you found yourself deeply grateful to have found a kindred spirit that was in Steve’s life, someone who didn’t paint her face fully before heading out into the world.
“So, you’re Robin, I take it,” you said, offering your hand. “It’s so good to meet you. Steve’s told me about you.”
“Oh, I have heard sooooo much about you!” Robin laughed, taking your hand and pulling you into another hug. “I practically feel like we’re already best friends. Steve talks about you non-stop.”
“Robin!” Steve hissed.
“Whatever.” She waved her hand with a roll of her eyes. “He does. Of course he tells me everything. That’s the perks that come with being best friends. There is nothing I don’t know about Steve. I mean, absolutely nothing.” She started laughing, finally releasing you as she took a step back, her hands flailing wildly. “Like, did you know that when he was a baby he crawled backwards? I mean, like this.” She placed her hands in front of her, pantomiming a backwards crawl. “Isn’t that hysterical? Who crawls like that? Until he went backwards down some steps and conked his head. Oh! And one time, we had a blood drive at our high school and Steve went. He was being all cocky, thinking he didn’t need the cookie and juice. He was a man and could handle a little blood being taken, right? Until he passed out in the boy’s bathroom and had to get six stitches in his head from where he hit it on the urinal. Gross, right? Oh! And this one time…”
“Robin, seriously,” Steve groaned, holding up his hands. “Please stop.” He turned to you, eyes rolling upward, an annoyed smile tensing his face.
“Fine,” his best friend huffed, folding her arms but then she leaned into you with a grin. “But if you want to know the best stories about Steve, you know where to go.”
“Best stories about Steve?” came another voice as a short, curly haired guy appeared on the front porch. “Oh, I definitely have a few of those. Remember when Billy Hargrove pantsed you in front of the whole school? That was pretty humiliating.”
You choked back a laugh, looking apologetically at Steve when he shot you an annoyed look. You shrugged, pressing your lips together hard. Okay, nobody wanted to get pantsed but he was the popular guy, the guy all the girls wanted. How bad could it be?
“I mean, it’s embarrassing but it can’t have been that bad,” you said sympathetically.
“Oh, it was that bad. Our boy decided to go commando that day. The whole school got a first eye look at his twig and berries.”
“Why in the hell were you going commando?” you asked, snorting.
“I didn’t have any clean underwear, okay? My parents were out of town and the maid wasn’t coming for another two days and I didn’t know how to do laundry. I had no other choice.”
Your eyebrows lifted, “You didn’t know how to do a load of laundry when you were in high school?”
“Are you kidding?” the new guy chortled, bounding down the steps and approaching Steve, propping his elbow up on his shoulder. “King Steve? Mr. Richie Rich? He had people to do that kind of shit for him. Why would he ever get his hands dirty like that?”
“You know, who needs enemies when I have friends like the two of you?” Steve cringed, roughly raising his shoulder to knock his friend’s elbow off. “Do you find amusement in humiliating me as much as humanly possible?”
The curly headed guy shrugged with a grin so wide, you could see all of his teeth. Even his eyes joined in, squinting into slits, the smile taking up his whole face. He was adorable. He might be grown but there was something so boyish about his features that just made him precious and darling, like Eli when he gave you those big eyes and that sad face. You could see this guy getting whatever he wanted because that face would be hard to refuse.
“It is a constant source of pleasure in my life, Steve. So, thank you for that.” He stuck his hand out to her. “Dustin.”
“Y/N,” you replied, giving his hand a quick shake. “I’ve heard all about you too. The unofficially adopted little brother, right?”
Dustin laughed, “I guess. More like I got stuck with this guy because my mom decided he would be a good role model for me. She signed him up as a babysitter even though I was way too old and far too smart to require one.”
“Mommy, can I go inside and find Jeremiah?” Eli asked, hands pulling at the hem of your top. He was obviously not finding this conversation very interesting.
“Yeah, kid. He’s out back with Miles in the sandbox. I’m sure he’s just waiting for you. It’s all he’s been talking about since he woke up this morning,” Steve answered. “Go on through.” Folding his arms, he rolled his eyes toward you. “Jere loves when Miles ‘plays’...,” he made air quotes around the word, “in the sandbox with him. Really, the big oaf just digs and then sprinkles sand all over my house.”
Another car pulled in the drive and you turned in interest. Steve hadn’t mentioned anyone else being here for the cookout. A boy with a fade stepped out from the driver’s seat and a girl with long red hair emerged from the other side. The back door opened and a boy with a prominent nose and jet black hair appeared, holding the hand of another girl with shoulder length light brown hair. Apparently, this was a bigger gathering than he’d originally told you.
“You made it!” Steve called out, approaching the newcomers.
The boy with shaggy hair was getting into the trunk, “Yeah. We were just waiting on Lucas.” He rolled his eyes toward the boy.
“Sorry that I had work to do, Mike,” Lucas muttered. “You know, it’s tax season. It’s not my fault that so many people always wait until the last possible minute to take care of it.”
“Well, Max is working on a new case and yet she still managed to be ready on time,” Mike shot back.
“Yeah but it’s barely begun. I have the first meeting with the client to talk legal strategy and next steps this week. Besides, it’s easy to have lots of time when you’re working from home, right Mike? How’s that novel coming along?” the red head challenged.
“It’s coming! I got another seven hundred words written yesterday. You know, writing a novel is not as simple as you all seem to think it is. There’s a lot of research that goes into it.”
“Research? Into a fantasy book based off your DnD adventures?” Steve laughed. “What are you researching? How to still be cool when you’re a massive nerd?”
“Hey, my Mike is very cool,” the girl who’d been in the back with him stated in defense.
“Thanks El. I have to research mythology, folklore, history. It’s not just all make-believe. Some of this is based on legends that have been passed down through generations. I also have to research weaponry and battle tactics. It’s not just as simple as sitting down and typing.”
“Okay, okay,” Lucas chuckled, holding up his hands. “You know we’re just messing with you, man. We’re all going to be celebrating right along with you when you become the next great author.”
“Yeah,” Robin piped in. “We’ll throw you a party with balloons and everything.”
“You guys are jerks,” Mike muttered but there was just a hint of a smile on his face as he said it, letting you know that they were all just messing around.
“So, you must be Y/N,” Max said, stepping into you, offering her hand which you took in another handshake. Did everyone here already know who you were? “Sorry about that. Quite a way to meet all of us. But in case you missed it, I’m Max. That’s my husband, Lucas. That’s Mike and his wife El.”
“Nice to meet you.”
The new foursome looked to be about the same age as Dustin. Had Steve babysat all of these guys? There were hugs all around and then Dustin was helping Mike haul in what looked to be dishes for the cookout. That reminded you and you opened the back door, pulling out a foil covered tray.
“Oh, you didn’t need to bring anything,” Steve commented.
“I wanted to. I mean, isn’t it customary when you’re invited to a cookout to bring something?”
“What did you bring?” asked Robin eagerly.
“I baked some lemon bars,” you answered with a shrug. “Nothing fancy but they’re Eli’s favorite.”
“Ohh! Yummy. I love lemon. It’s just such a fun flavor, you know? It makes me think of sunny summer days or really clean stuff. My mom loved lemon Pledge when I was a kid and after she cleaned the house, the whole place smelled like lemon.”
“Alright Robin, how about we all head inside?” Steve offered with an amused snort. They all made their way toward the house and Steve hung back, walking alongside you. “Sorry about all of this. My friends can be a bit…well, much when you first meet them.”
“I think they’re wonderful,” you assured him with a smile. “Seriously. I love how close you all are.”
“How do you know we’re close when all you saw was us picking on Mike?”
“Oh, the way you all just banter back and forth. But it’s just that, innocent teasing. To a casual observer it may appear that you all annoy each other but you really only pick apart the ones you love the most. And you all do it with a smile. I can just tell.”
“Have excellent skills of observation, do you?” he asked, those hazel eyes soft like the caramel in the middle of a chocolate.
“I like to think so.”
“Okay.” His hand fell on your arm, stopping you just outside the door as the others went in, leaving the two of you on the porch. “So, tell me oh keen observer, what do you notice about me?”
You paused, your heart fluttering in your chest because you noticed everything about him. You noticed the way his hand always ran through his hair when he was nervous. You noticed how his eyes couldn’t just be described as hazel, how they shifted like a mood ring, sometimes more gold or more green or more brown. You noticed how soft his face went whenever he spoke about his son. You noticed how calloused his fingers were from his time spent doing manual labor. You weren't sure there was anything you hadn’t noticed about him. He had completely consumed your thoughts ever since that moment he turned around at the ball field.
“Okay. You’re a hopeless romantic even though things didn’t turn out right for you. You haven’t let it jade you. You still believe that you’ll find your happily ever after. You know the divorce was the right thing but you worry sometimes that it is going to affect Jeremiah in some long lasting way. Your parents never divorced and you think they should have because their dysfunctional relationship had an awful impact on you. But you can’t help wondering if you’re doomed to screw up with your son because you never had a role model to show you how to do it correctly. Neither of those things should you worry about by the way because I have also noticed that you are an amazing dad. There’s nothing you wouldn’t do for your son and he is one of the happiest, most well-adjusted kids I have ever seen. You are giving, almost to a fault. You would bleed yourself dry for the people you care about until you had nothing left. You don’t ever stop to take care of yourself because you’re too worried about other people. And you are absolutely infuriating because you don’t seem to have a flaw. You just seem to be about as perfect as a guy can be.”
You inhaled a deep breath, watching his face, wondering if you'd said too much. You hoped you hadn’t offended him in any way. None of what you said was meant to be an insult. You thought everything about him was commendable. He’d had a tough childhood but he hadn’t let it turn him bitter. His marriage had failed but he still had hope that he could find his person and that was beautiful. To still have hope in the face of defeat was a lovely thing and something a lot of people couldn’t hold onto once life had knocked them down a couple times.
His lips pursed into a tight smile, his eyes looking off to the side before coming back to you, “Trust me, I’m not perfect. I mean, you’re not wrong about anything you said except for that. Anyone in that house right now would be happy to list my many flaws for you if you asked.”
“Like what?” you challenged because so far, you hadn’t been able to find a single one.
“Well, I can be really overprotective. Robin and Dustin get very annoyed when I meddle in their lives.”
“That just means you care a lot and you want what’s best for the people you love,” you shrugged. “Sorry, not really a flaw. Try again.”
“I’m really insecure,” he stated. “I’m always questioning everything I do. I didn’t used to be that way. I used to be arrogant as hell. I never doubted myself but now I doubt myself all the time. I doubt myself as a parent. I definitely doubt myself with women.”
“That just means you’re open to learning and being better. None of us have it all down. You think I don’t doubt myself as a parent on a daily basis? We all do. And dating? Forget it. I haven’t dated anyone since before Justin. I have no idea what I’m doing. We’re all just learning as we go and trying to be the best versions of ourselves we can be. Not a flaw, Steve. It just means you’re human.”
“Okay, well, how about the fact that I married the wrong girl and stayed with her for way too long?”
“You’re loyal,” you shrugged. “Maybe to a fault but you tried. You tried everything you could to make it work because that’s who you are. You didn’t want to let her down. You didn’t want to just walk away and give up. You still care about her and have a good relationship with her. Do you know how incredible that is? That you saw the mistake, recognized it, rectified it, and then did what was right by your son?”
“You know, you’re going to give me an ego problem. I already had one of those. It didn’t end well for me. I work really hard to stay humble and that could prove difficult when you’re telling me I’m perfect.”
“You, Steve Harrington, are perfectly imperfect. You recognize your weaknesses, you work hard to be better, and you do everything in your power to make sure the people you love are happy. Even I will admit no one is perfect but you’re pretty damn close.”
“You think so?” The words barely a whisper as he leaned into you, his lips a breath away from yours. “Because I think…”
“What the hell are you two doing out here?” Dustin huffed as he threw open the door again. “I thought we were all here for a cookout.”
Steve’s eyes rolled, his head falling back and you had the distinct impression that he was annoyed you'd been interrupted. You couldn’t say you didn’t feel the same way. Your lips tingled, yearning for something that hadn’t happened. You were pretty sure he’d come really close to kissing you again but the universe didn’t seem to want it to happen, regardless of what you wanted.
____________________________________________________________
“Men never really grow up, do they?” Robin mused from her spot in the chair next to you.
You were sitting on Steve’s deck, relaxing with a glass of wine after a dinner of barbecued chicken, corn on the cob, grilled red potatoes, and a salad. It was delicious. The chicken had been just blackened enough without being burnt, the barbecue sauce caramelizing delectably. Steve was definitely a good cook, just one more little check on the perfection side for him while the opposite side sat blank.
“Not really,” you laughed, watching as Mike, Dustin, and Jeremiah chased Steve, Lucas, and Eli, all of them armed with Nerf guns, Miles bounding behind them all as if he didn’t know which team he belonged to but he wanted to be a part of it. “My husband…Justin, he was just a big child at heart. The Christmas after Eli was born he bought him three lego sets for Christmas. I commented how silly it was because he was only nine months old. But he really bought them for himself. It gave him an excuse to get the toys so he could play with them and build them.”
“Lucas is like a baby,” Max chimed in. “He whines if I don’t give him enough attention. Seriously, you should have seen him a few months ago. I had this big case, a woman accused of murdering her husband. I was working really long hours and he would whine about how he was missing his Max time.”
“That’s sweet though,” you told her, taking a sip of your wine, the bubbles dancing pleasantly along your tongue. “He missed you.”
“It’s annoying,” Max snorted, but then her face softened as she rolled her eyes. “But yeah, he is pretty sweet. I guess I’ll keep him for a while.”
“How about Mike?” you asked, leaning forward toward El.
“Oh, Mike is definitely a manchild. He plays video games all the time and his friends still come over to play DnD. I kind of thought he would grow out of it but he hasn’t. They still have DnD night every single Thursday.” She shrugged, grabbing an olive from the bowl on the table and popping it in her mouth. Leaning back, she tucked her legs underneath her. “But it works out because then Max and I have girls night every week.”
“I love girls night. My friend, Janice, and I try to do them every once in a while but that’s been harder since…” you broke off, unsure if any of them knew about what had happened to Justin.
“Since your husband passed?” asked Robin gently, her hand coming to rest on your arm. “Jeremiah told Steve that Eli’s dad went to heaven. I’m so sorry. That had to be awful for you.”
“It was. It…wasn’t expected. He wasn’t sick or anything. He was a Marine. He was stationed in Somalia for a humanitarian mission. It was supposed to be peaceful. He said it was nothing to worry about because they were only going over there to help. There was no fighting. He wasn’t supposed to…” You ran a hand over your mouth, willing yourself to keep it together in front of these people you'd only met a couple hours ago. “Anyway, I don’t know all of the details. Of course not. I’m not a soldier so I’m not allowed to. But there was some civil strife, locals who didn’t like American involvement, and he was caught in the crossfire.”
“Jesus,” Max whispered. “How long ago?”
“It’s been a little over two years now. Eli was five when it happened. They send people to your door to deliver the news.” You cleared your throat, eyes scanning the sky, emotions raging to get through that you were battling back with everything you had. “Two people in uniform knock on your door and trust me, when you’re married to someone in the military, you know what that means. They show up and send a wrecking ball straight through the middle of your life. He…he was sent home and we were able to have a funeral. I was told I should consider myself lucky because some people only get to bury an empty coffin or…pieces.”
“Oh my god,” gasped El, her hand covering her mouth.
“I couldn’t find any luck in what had happened. I was left a widow, a single mother…alone. My son was left fatherless. I went into a dark place for a while and if it hadn't been for my friend, Janice, I don’t know if I would have made it out of the other side. That little boy right there…” You pointed to Eli, tears glistening in your eyes. “He’s the only thing that really forced me to keep going. I knew he needed me.” Your palms pressed into your eyes, pressing the tears down and away. You took a long drink of your wine before releasing a forced laugh. “Anyway, what a horribly depressing topic of conversation. Let’s talk about someone else, please. El! Mike is writing a book? That has to be exciting.”
“I don’t know if exciting is the word. He’s been working on it for the past five years,” she groaned. “He works part-time at the local bookstore but if it weren’t for my job, we wouldn’t be able to pay the bills. I want to support him. I know this book means a lot to him but I did not think it would take up this much time in our lives.”
“Why hasn’t he sent it out yet?” asked Robin. “Hasn’t he had it finished for a year?”
“He says he’s still polishing it. Honestly, I think he can’t get out of his own head. I think he’s scared to send it because he’s scared of getting rejected.”
You leaned forward to set your empty wineglass on the table, “I get that. Rejection is terrifying and he will probably get a lot of them. Most authors don’t sell their books to the first person they send it to. Some of them get a hundred rejections before they find the publisher who is willing to take a chance on them. But he’s never going to know if he doesn’t take the leap. Have you talked to him about it?”
“Kind of.” She cringed, shaking her head. “Not really. I want to support him, you know. I don’t want to push him but I’m really tired of having to work all the overtime I can just to keep us afloat. I feel like I’m paddling a sinking boat while he’s just sitting in the back trying to enjoy the ride.”
“Then tell him that. You shouldn’t be the only one supporting you two. You supported him while he worked on his dream. It’s done now so he needs to bite the bullet and see what happens. And in the meantime, he needs to start working more hours to help out. You can tell him how you’re feeling without bashing him and you can still support him while expecting him to do his part too.”
El smiled, “Thanks. You’re pretty smart about relationship stuff.”
“Well, I was married for eight years. I don’t know. I always found open communication was the way to go. Men are not mind readers. They cannot begin to fathom the amount of emotions or thoughts that race through us every single day. When I just told Justin what I was thinking or how I was feeling, he always tried to do what he could. Hiding your feelings isn’t going to help anything. Just put it out there. What’s the worst that could happen?”
Robin smirked, “Well, in that case, let me send some honesty your way.” Leaning in, she propped her elbows on her knees, wineglass held between both of her hands. “That guy over there?” Her eyes flitted to where Steve was lifting Eli over his head as the boy giggled. “He may be a dingus but you’d be hard pressed to find a better guy than him.”
“I never said Steve wasn’t a good guy,” you stated, your stomach twisting, wondering where this was going.
“I know. But he likes you. I mean, he really likes you and he’s too much of a chicken shit to say it so I’m going to say it for him. Because that guy, he deserves the world. He deserves everything good and wonderful. He deserves true love, happy endings, and all that romantic shit. And meeting you, I can see why he likes you.”
“I don’t understand. I mean, we’ve been hanging out but only because Eli and Jeremiah are friends and they want to spend time together.”
Max snorted into her wine, “You really think he’s been hanging out with you just so the boys can spend time together? Please. Steve wears his heart on his sleeve, okay? He’s been inviting you to everything because he wants to see you.”
“When he talks about you, his face gets all glowy,” El grinned. “He definitely likes you. And Steve, well he’s not had the best luck when it comes to women.”
“Because he picks wrong,” Robin added, “but this time, I don’t think he has. Now, I know you have a complicated past and I don’t know where you’re at as far as being ready for something serious. And I like you. I really like you. I think you’d be great for him but please, don’t start anything with him if you’re not ready to be all in. Because that man has been through more than his fair share of heartbreak and I don’t know that I can stand to watch him go through it again.”
“Yeah, the whole divorce with Nance really fucked with his head,” Max sighed. “It made him question everything, knowing that he’d tried to stick it out for so long with someone who was wrong for him. Then his choices after that were just all bad. He’s lost a lot of confidence. That King Steve swagger has been long gone for a while. The last girl was super clingy and asked him to move in after only a few months.”
“Oh! Janet. She was, like, creepy stalker obsessed,” El exclaimed. “She still asks me about him all the time when she comes into the grocery store. She is super convinced they’re soulmates. I’m telling you, that woman is not right.”
“No, she’s not but my point is, just don’t make him your rebound guy, okay?” Robin requested, bringing the conversation back on point. “He deserves so much more than that. And I haven’t seen him look like this when he’s talking about a girl in…” She paused, lips pursing. “Honestly, I don’t think I’ve ever seen him look like this. So, you’re obviously special to him and because of that, I think you have the capacity to absolutely shatter him. Just make sure you’re ready before you dive into anything.”
“I…uh…yeah, obviously,” you stammered, a flash of heat, like standing in front of an oven, suddenly racing over your body. Shit. You were about to have an anxiety attack right here in front of all these people. “We’re not even…I wouldn’t…I…you know what? I need to use the bathroom. I…”
“Are you okay?” asked El, concerned.
“Fine. I just…I’ll be back…”
You stumbled through the house, past the kitchen, the living room, and finally into the bathroom. Your hands pressed against the door, pushing firmly, trying to focus on the feel of the wood underneath your skin. Dampness clung to your skin as you looked around frantically, focusing on the pattern in the backsplash above the sink, blues swirling with greens. Your hand reached for the faucet, turning it on, closing your eyes, allowing the sound of the water running to clear your head. You wiggled your fingers, pressed your middle finger and thumb together, feeling the pressure as you felt your muscles relax, your breathing slow, your heart rate come down.
“Jesus Christ, get it together,” you muttered to yourself.
What were you doing? What were you thinking? Even his friends thought this was a bad idea. You couldn’t tell Steve that you liked him. What if you hurt him? What if you were so broken that you couldn’t give him what he needed? What if you thought you were sure but you weren't and then it all went wrong? No one could be certain of anything. Nothing was guaranteed in life. You knew that better than anybody.
Cupping your hands, you collected water and splashed it onto your face to cool your body. Opening your eyes, you jolted when you caught sight of yourself in the mirror, rivers of black running down both cheeks. Grabbing onto Steve’s hand towel, you ran it under your eyes.
“Shit! Oh my god!”
The towel was cream and now it was covered in streaks of your mascara. Your eyes darted around the bathroom. For what, you had no idea. You stuck the towel under the water, attempting to rub at the streaks with your fingers but that only made it worse. Now they weren’t just streaks but massive black blobs covering the fabric.
“Hey,” came Steve’s voice from the other side of the door and you jumped, knocking the toothbrush holder into the sink.
“Jesus!” you yelped, picking it up, placing it back.
“Are you alright in there?”
“I’m fine! I’m fine. I just…I…”
With a groan, you unlocked the door and pulled it open, holding his towel out to him. He looked down at it and then back up at you, obviously confused as to why you were offering him a soaking wet towel and you burst into tears.
“I’m sorry. I was…I was hot and I just wanted to wet my face but then my mascara ran and I didn’t know and I wiped my face on your towel and then it got on it and I tried to wash it out but I only made it worse and now your towel is ruined and I’m a mess and I…”
“Whoa. Whoa,” he said softly and then he was taking the towel and he was holding you. One hand cupping the back of your head, the other on the middle of your back. His thumb ran soothingly up and down the back of your neck and your eyes slipped closed, sinking into the feeling of being held, being taken care of. “It’s just a towel. I don’t care about a towel. I care about you. Are you alright, honey?”
He wanted to know if you were okay. He cared about you. And did he just call you honey? Was he kidding right now? Did he have to make it even harder to walk away from the possibility of him? All you wanted to do was curl up in his arms and allow him to carry it for a while. All the pain, all the exhaustion, all the uncertainty. Just let someone else ease your burden for a bit but that wasn’t fair to him. His friends had made it clear to you that you were the last thing he needed in his life. You would only bring complications.
Steve deserved someone who could give them their whole heart and you couldn’t. You weren't even sure you had any to give. Justin had taken so much of it with him and all you had left was for your son. This man was too good to only get pieces and that was all you could offer.
“I’m fine,” you assured him, placing your hands against his chest, pushing back gently. “I’m good, really.” You wiped at your eyes with the backs of your hands, trying to laugh it off. “I don’t know. Just an emotional day. It happens to me sometimes.”
“You sure?” Those eyes. You felt like those eyes could see you in a way no one else had. When Steve looked at you it felt as if he could read right down to your very soul. “The girls said you looked like you might be having an anxiety attack or something. They were worried, wanted me to come in and check on you.”
“I was.” Sometimes honesty was the best policy. Maybe if he knew how entirely messed up you were, he wouldn’t be so interested anymore. “It happens, since my husband…I see a therapist and I have tools for it. I know what to do. I’m fine now. I’m just sorry I made everybody worry and destroyed your towel. I can buy you a new one.”
“Fuck the towel, seriously,” he scoffed. “I was just worried about you. Is there anything I can do?”
“No. Thanks for checking on me but really, I’m fine.” You put on the best smile you could muster, holding your hands out to the side. “See? All good now. We should really get back to the fun, yeah?”
“I don’t know how much fun is happening. Mike just busted out the cornhole boards…”
“Cornhole!?” you exclaimed, probably a little too excitedly. “I love cornhole! Let’s go!”
“You love cornhole?” Steve questioned as if questioning your sanity.
“Of course. What midwesterner doesn’t love a good game of cornhole?”
“I mean…me? It’s okay, I guess.”
“Oh what? Not challenging enough for Mr. I played every sport imaginable? It doesn’t quite have the excitement of shooting a ball into a net or hearing that crack when the bat hits the ball?”
“Not really. I mean, yeah, I like to win but…I actually wanted to ask you…”
“Later! Cornhole!”
No. Nope. You were not giving him the opportunity to ask you anything. You turned, hurrying through the house as he rushed behind you. Sliding the glass door open, you stepped onto the deck, greeting everyone’s worried face with a bright smile. You were fine. This was fine. Everything was going to be fine.
“Hey, we were worried when you ran off like that,” Max said, eyebrows knitting together. “You okay?”
“Did you get attacked, mommy?” asked Eli.
“Attacked? Who’s attacking her in Steve’s house?” asked Mike.
Dustin shrugged, “You never know. Steve, did you attack her?”
“What? No. Obviously I didn’t attack her!”
“I didn’t get attacked,” you sighed.
“Then why would Eli ask if someone attacked you? Do you get attacked often?” questioned Max.
“My mommy’s feelings attack her,” Eli explained. Oh, sweet, sweet boy, but you really wished he’d stop talking. “Her heart goes super fast and she can’t breathe and she has to look at stuff and listen to stuff.”
Mike frowned. “Her feelings attack her?”
“It’s an anxiety attack, dingus,” Robin huffed, smacking him in the chest.
“Ow!” Mike protested, rubbing his shirt. “That hurt. Excuse me for not knowing what that meant. I pictured a bunch of emotions chasing her down and beating her with a stick.”
“Oh…we should add something like that to one of our campaigns,” Dustin grinned. “Imagine, you drink a potion or have a spell cast on you that sends your emotions outside of your body. It gives them corporeal form and they start attacking and you have to figure out how to battle them back or…no! You have to figure out how to control them to make them go away. Oh, that’s some existential shit right there.”
“Dustin!” Lucas shouted. “Maybe not the time. She’s clearly having a breakdown.”
“I am not breaking down. I’m fine,” you protested.
“Isn’t that what an anxiety attack is? Should we call an ambulance? Are you like completely losing it?”
“Jesus Christ,” growled Robin. “She’s obviously okay now. An anxiety attack is not a complete mental break you idiots. It’s something that happens in response to stressors around you. Your heart pounds, you get dizzy, you shake, you get hot.” She stopped, turning to you. “Wait. It happened right after we…” Robin’s eyes moved from Max to El and then back to you. “Oh shit. Did we cause…what we said…is this our fault?”
“What? No!” This was the last thing you needed. You barely knew these people. “No. You were just looking out for your friend. I get that. It wasn’t you. It…”
“What do you mean looking out for their friend?” asked Steve. When your eyes went wide and you didn’t answer, he stepped into Robin. “What does she mean? What did you chuckleheads say?”
“Nothing,” squeaked Robin and when he glared, she flinched. “Okay, fine. I may have told her that you like her and that I just wanted her to be sure before she started anything with you because I don’t want to see you hurt.”
“Steve, we were just looking out for you,” El added. “We know how rough you’ve had it with relationships. We didn’t want to see you get hurt.”
“We know after Nance you haven’t trusted yourself. You’ve chosen wrong every single time. I mean, you dated that complete whackadoo, Janet, and look how that ended. You almost had to get a restraining order. She’s still obsessed with you.”
“You like my mommy?” asked Eli, his eyes lighting up. “He likes my mommy!”
Jeremiah shrugged, “I already knew that. I wanted to know if she likes my daddy.”
“She does. She told me in the car that he’s wonderful but she didn’t know if he liked her back but he does! So now they can go on a date!”
Oh my god. This was awful. This was your worst nightmare come to life. You reached out, grabbing onto the back of a chair as you listened to the myriad of voices around you. You weren't even sure you wanted to have this conversation with Steve. In fact, you'd convinced yourself not to and now they were all having it without you, whether you wanted them to or not.
“Jesus, Robin! Are you kidding me? I know you like to meddle in my life but this is insane, even for you!”
“Steve, it’s not insane. And look, her kid just said she likes you. So, why don’t you two stop dancing around each other and just go get coffee already like I told you before. I didn’t tell her not to date you. I like her. I just don’t want you to be her rebound from her dead husband.”
Weights pressing on your chest. Your hands grasped at your clothing, pulling, desperate to loosen the pressure.
“Oh my god!” Max shrieked. “Robin, you can’t just say that like that.”
“I’m sorry! I’m panicking! I say stupid shit when I’m panicking!”
No. Not now. This couldn’t happen now. The world was spiraling, spinning, one hazy blur and you couldn’t find a single thing to focus on. Forget trying to listen to anything when the sounds of their yelling were filling your head completely.
“You always say stupid shit!” yelled Steve.
“But my daddy did die. It’s okay to say it,” Eli piped in.
“We know your daddy passed away but there could have been a gentler way of putting it,” Max told him.
There was no air. Your chest was painful, a python constricting and squeezing around you until you couldn’t breathe.
“Maybe but my point was that you two need to stop acting like shy teenagers with a crush and just go out and bang each other already because you’re not fooling anybody. We can all see how much you want each other.”
“What’s banging?” asked Jeremiah.
“I don’t think they should do that. That doesn’t sound very nice,” Eli disagreed.
“Jesus Robin!” growled Steve.
The entire backyard swam around you, the green of the grass blending into the brown of the fence, the blue of the sky. You couldn’t breathe. You opened your mouth wide, hoping for precious oxygen to make its way where you needed it to but nothing was happening. You couldn’t do this. The entire backyard shrunk down to a single pinprick of light and then the world went black.

.
It was his own fault for trying to cancel on Robin again—having assumed, now that she knew about his and Billy’s fledgling thing, that she’d be more understanding of his needs.
But no.
Eyeroll audible over the phone, Robin had offered a different option. Just bring your boy toy along if it’s that much of a burden to leave his side. There was a loaded pause during which Steve scrambled to recall whether he’d told her that particular part of their fledgling thing, then she continued, blithe and cavalier. That is, if you can stand to keep your hands off each other’s dicks for a couple hours. Speaking over Steve’s choked bluster: It’ll be a struggle, I know. But I believe in you. Stay strong.
So he’d called Billy up after, risking Madam Manager’s ire for lingering too long on his lunch break, and caught him right before he left for class. Billy had gone quiet, digesting Steve’s rushed explanation—drinks at the Taproom around eight; you, me, and Robin—and then cleared his throat. Like, us all hanging out as friends? he asked. Or…? And Steve froze, wrongfooted. What—uh, whatever you want, he said, clumsy. She knows. I mean, not everything—just that we’re… uhm. Sorry? he added, wincing, and Billy mercifully jumped in, put him out of his misery. It’s fine. I’ve been talking to Heather about us. I needed someone to… He trailed off, and Steve breathed a sigh, grinning with relief as he nodded. Yeah. Me, too.
Billy had already showered and eaten when Steve got home—tilted his cheek for a drive-by kiss as Steve passed him huddled in the corner of the couch, psych notes open on his lap. Hadn’t moved even after Steve had finished stuffing his face, washing up. What should I wear? Steve called as he emerged from the bathroom, towel around his waist, and Billy glanced over—locked on Steve’s hand, the fisted terrycloth at his hip. Understandably, it took Steve a moment to absorb Billy’s reply: I was gonna ask you the same question.
And Billy—never asked Steve for fashion advice. Which meant he had something else in mind.
They were late meeting Robin.
.
“You live literally down the road,” she exclaimed when they arrived at the Taproom, flushed from power walking and also other things. Steve’s buttons were misaligned on his shirt, and Billy’s hair gave off the distinct impression of having just rolled out of bed. Distinct and—accurate.
“Couldn’t find my wallet,” Steve lied, gentle arm at Billy’s waist to guide him into a chair.
Billy sat. Carefully.
“Well, I hope it turned up,” Robin said, unconvinced and unimpressed. “Because first round’s on you.”
“Long Islands for everyone?” He stooped, arms looped around Billy from behind, and—lightly pressed on his abdomen, encouraging him to lean against the chairback, relax from his prim perch. “Okay?” he basked, when his boy swallowed a whimper, red flooding his cheeks. Billy nodded, and Steve kissed his neck, the skin feverish under his lips. “Good.”
They explained away Billy’s spacey distraction easily enough—big psych test on Monday—but by the second round, with Billy shifting every minute, rocking in his seat ever so slightly, his eyes glassy, lips parted, Robin was growing concerned.
“You sure you feel alright?” she checked, then squinted. “Or feeling too alright?”
Steve cut in, scooched his chair alongside Billy’s, their legs flush under the table.
“He hasn’t been sleeping well,” he said, drawing Billy to slump against him, corralling with the comforting palm on his shoulder. “You need to go home, babe?”
Billy huffed, hearing the subtle taunt. You give up? Give in?
“M’good,” he insisted, wagging his head. Unseeing, unblinking, he fumbled for his glass. Tossed back the rest, ice cascading toward his mouth. He slouched into Steve’s touch, crunching cold loud between his molars. Hidden, insinuated a hand around Steve’s thigh and underneath—cinching him close. If he traced upward not too far, he’d bump the bulge straining Steve’s zipper. One glance at Billy’s lap revealed he was in even worse shape: a patch of wet seeping through pale blue denim. “Robin’s turn to buy.”
.
Lucky for them, Robin caught the eye of the Gina Gershon type behind the bar—got her number, the promise of a good time after her shift—and around the fifth or sixth round, Robin went to fetch tequila shots and never came back.
Sloppy steps to the exit, clinging to each other’s waists, and the muggy summer night welcomed them to the sidewalk, chatter and cheesy pop muffled beyond the door.
They cut a crooked path toward the apartment, breathy silence broken by the odd chuckle or hum, speech smothered by the pulsing weight of expectation that had settled all around.
They were going home, and Steve was gonna fuck him. Shove inside, push to the root and hammer his hips until he spilled, until the swollen hole oozed white, until he—
Billy was whining in short throaty bursts by the time they reached the stairwell, stumbling now and then, relying on Steve to half-haul him up the last flight. Please he mumbled, the moment their door clicked, and Steve wasn’t sure where the surge of macho muscle came from, but next thing he knew he’d hefted a clinging koala into his arms, gripping just below the ass, striding to his bedroom, wet lips mouthing Steve’s neck with every step.
Part of him wanted to throw Billy down, watch him bounce on the mattress, but he didn’t—or he would, but not now, not when his good boy had been squirming for so long, desperate to wring some relief from the toy wedged snug. No, he lowered him gentle onto his back, lovely legs hugging Steve’s hips, dangling off the bed—Billy’s hips lifting the moment fingers fumbled at his button, tugged at his zip.
The lube was within reach, right where they’d left it, when they’d overindulged before rushing out the door, Steve slicking up the small plug and working it in, pulling a new pair of pale pink panties up long, bronzed legs, then selecting a pair of jeans, a tank cut so low around the neck, hanging loose about the ribs, that it barely covered his nipples.
Steve had taken it upon himself to carefully tuck the front of the tank into the waist of his jeans, the way Billy liked, and now took it upon himself to untuck, pushing the tank up as he yanked the jeans down, fingers hooked in a back pocket.
He left the jeans balled below Billy’s knees, allowing them to part wide and meanwhile keep his ankles tied. Bending low, Steve ran his nose along the obscene jut of cock beneath sticky satin, breathed heat through the fabric—pressed his face into Billy’s crotch when he writhed, moaning.
“Here’s what I want,” Steve said, peering up—a strange vantage point: the heaving hills and valleys of Billy’s abs, his pecs, the underside of a tilted chin, the shifting rise of biceps, arms flung above his head. “I want to pull down the back of your panties. Check my good boy is ready for me.”
“Ready,” Billy panted, hardly more than a wheeze. “M’ready, ready. Please.”
“Haven’t gone past the middle plug,” Steve told him, all regret—as though breaking it to him gently, and Billy sobbed. “But,” he went on, shushing, sneaking to fondle the base of the plug through silky smooth pink, cup the shivering curves of his ass. “You promise to tell me if you want to stop, and I’ll fuck you now. Fill you up. And if it’ll make my good boy happy, we’ll plug him up after. No leaking.” Billy was begging under his breath, babbling yes, please—please, yes. “Promise?” Steve prompted, reaching for the lube as he sat up, propped against the edge of the mattress.
Billy promised, tears already eeking down his temples, wetting his hair. Steve watched them drip as he slicked his fingers—used his dry hand to inch the panties down, the front drawn taut as the back pulled, clearing the rise of Billy’s ass to sit bunched below.
He didn’t tease his boy too much: traced up to stroke the stiff heat straining satin, brush the twitching length with his thumb, then drifted back down to caress the protruding flat of glass. One mild tug, and it slipped free on a gasp. He let it thunk on the carpet at his feet.
The hole that kissed blind fingertips was still fluttering from the sudden loss—seemed to suck him in, inflamed greed, taking two easy, then three. Billy’s face was twisted, eyes closed, his lashes wet, hips grinding into the touch as though searching, feeling his way in the dark. A whine puffed past slack lips, desperate—almost forlorn.
“Okay,” Steve breathed. Withdrew, grappling clumsy for the lube, slicking his cock where it bobbed by the bedspread, trailing drool. “Okay, baby.”
His forearm hooked shaking thighs, dragged Billy closer, ass almost hanging off the bed. Steve gripped himself mid-shaft, thumbing the crown, and nudged forward, catching on the rim that still seemed too small, impossibly small.
Billy sighed, set one hand on Steve’s forearm, the cross bar holding him steady—coasted down the arm to link their hands, and Steve bowed his head, suddenly swamped. Just—overwhelmed.
He pushed, steady pressure, and it was like with the plug, where resistance caved to a gobbling grip. Pushed and the slicked crown was swallowed up by clenching heat. Paused to breathe, a returning squeeze to their linked hands, then sank further—this stuttering plow that deepened with the duet of stuttering breaths.
Steve was lost in it, so consumed by the sensory influx—the salty musk of sweat and precome, the lungs bellowing in his ears, the thundering throb of his pulse where they were joined, where they were holding on, nerves alight, a smolder about to catch and roar—so consumed that when he bottomed out, flush with Billy’s ass, he kept going, rocking into him, lifting, Billy’s knees curling toward his chest, where the flimsy tank still lay, askew.
“Good?” Steve asked, throaty, and Billy’s eyes rolled in his head as he laughed, weak, lips barely hitched. Slowing, Steve circled the rim that clutched him, as though measuring—assessing. Feathered his touch from thin skin smooth and slick to the peach fuzz of Billy’s ass check, tickling, and grunted as the convulsive clench. “Fast or slow?”
His boy didn’t answer with words—maybe couldn’t—just a bobblehead, like Fast? Yes. Slow? Yes. Yes. Yes. So Steve gave him both, grinding into him torturous slow, adjusting until he nailed the spot that made Billy squirm and mewl, then let loose. Jackhammered, and when Billy's blushing wet cockhead peeked from the pink frilly waistband, smearing his abs, Steve smirked, mindless except for one driving thought: I want to feel him come on my cock.
Reaching down, unsteady, Steve tucked him back out of sight. Stroked him lightly as he said it: “Cream your panties for me, Billy.”
And god, Steve loved to watch him lose it beneath him, give in, crack open, but to feel it from inside...
Milking me, he thought, jaw slack, launched into sweet blue nothing. Fucking milking me.
Barely caught himself from faceplanting with an arm made of noodle, panting fit to die. The sweet blue nothing blinked at him—so pretty, heavy-lidded.
All Steve could do for the moment was blink back.
.
You knew you had it good when waking life was indistinguishable from a wet dream. The hazy cloud of ecstasy that lured Steve from sleep in the wee hours of the morning resolved into recent memory as he squinted, absorbing the smells of Billy embedded in the sheets—registering the absence of Billy’s sounds. His warmth. Steve pawed at his eyes, unsure whether the emerging snapshots, burning to the touch, were real or fantasy.
…Billy, after Steve had emptied into him, placidly rolling onto his stomach, presenting his ass for inspection upon request—humming long and low at the probing touch where he was swollen, pucker red and shining. A more insistent prod, and a pearl of white bloomed.
Distantly, he heard water running in the pipes. Billy—in the bathroom?
Middle of the bed, Steve had murmured. Lay on your tummy. And Billy army-crawled to obey, his ankles shackled by the mess of denim. Steve opted to leave them for the time being.
Billy had dropped flat with a whooshing sigh, head fenced by sprawling arms, legs akimbo, and Steve crawled to lie alongside, propped on an elbow. For a while, he just studied that face—the rosy cheeks, the pink lips gently curled in blissed satisfaction, eyelashes dark and clumped from tears.
Need anything? Steve asked, quietly mesmerized, brushing back a lock of tawny hair. Or want? One blue eye had cracked open, bleary, exhausted. And yet—his hips twitched, bare ass still exposed, satin shoved low. He wanted Steve to keep his promise: no leaking.
Steve’s bedroom door creaked open, and moments later the mattress dipped under a heavy form, blankets shifting as Billy settled.
“You okay?” Steve asked, voice scratchy. Half-awake, he rolled, slinging his arm around Billy’s back.
Billy yawned an incoherent confirmation. “Took care of business.”
Steve traced to the base of his spine, absently curious, and ran a finger down his crack. No plug. “All clean?”
“Mhmm.” Arching, Billy pressed into his touch, then resettled with a tired chuckle. “So you can mess me up again.”
Steve snorted—gripped an asscheek, meaning to claim a squeeze before he withdrew. But then… he forgot to do that last part. Drifted off still fondling Billy’s butt.
.
To make up for the delayed festivities due to socializing the night before, they’d resolved to shack up all of Saturday. A few hours of drinks sets us back, what—three or four orgasms? Steve estimated, and Billy had scoffed, let out a loud Hah! For you, maybe. At which Steve had swooped in, herding him against the wall to nip at his throat. I’m sorry—was that a complaint? Shivering, tilting his chin for more, Billy clung to his ribs. No. No complaints.
Which is why Steve was a little put out to realize he’d slept until nine—that Billy had let him, moreover, because the rest of the bed was cold and empty.
And then the buttery cinnamon sugar hit him upside the head, beckoned him upright, nose in the air. Heard the telltale clinks and thunks of Billy puttering at the stove, and couldn’t help but smile.
Smiled while he pulled on some sweatpants, a worn tee. Smiled as he brushed his teeth, took a piss. Washed his hands. Smiled as he wandered to the kitchen, itching to wrap his good boy up tight, kiss his neck, his cheeks—
The smile didn’t slip, but it… froze solid, along with the rest of him, at the vision that greeted him: Billy halted in front of the fridge, limned in morning sunlight.
Billy with his hair piled atop his head in a messy bun, wearing one of those close-fitting crop tops that he knew drove Steve crazy. His gaze dropped to the rumpled tube socks, trailed up the bronzed curves of his calves, his thighs—to the green pleated hem. Of the skirt.
The cheerleading skirt. The cheerleading skirt that Billy was wearing, in the kitchen. That he had worn while baking cinnamon buns. And making coffee.
Steve had completely flatlined, but all it took was a puff of sound—a nervous muffled squeak of a thing—and his attention swung to Billy’s face. To Billy’s bottom lip, drawn between his teeth. To Billy’s big blue eyes, slanted brows. Hopeful, but—uncertain.
“What—?” Steve tried, shaking his head, and at least tacked a grin to his bafflement. “How…?”
“Borrowed it,” Billy said, fidgeting. Cautious smile. “From Heather.”
Bless Heather for all eternity. Forever and ever. Amen.
“You look—” He couldn’t seem to move, but that was fine. Billy was coming to him—a certain slink to his stride. Steve rallied. “You look—so good. So, so, so—”
Billy set his hands on Steve’s waist, toying with the thin cotton. “I was thinking we could play… like we did that time with the spies? Only…”
His good, good, genius boy.
“Only… jock and cheerleader?” Steve finished, and Billy ducked, bashful—except not his usual bashful, but extra bashful, like he was putting on a show, like he was… a blushing, bashful, virginal little—
Billy leaned up. Kissed the corner of his mouth, soft and sweet. Instinctive, Steve palmed the back of his head, fingers buried in blond, and pulled him flush.
“You wanna be my good girl today?” he whispered, lips brushing Billy’s cheek—pressed a kiss there when Billy nodded. “Whatcha wearing under that skirt, babe?”
Billy giggled—quiet and flirty. “Breakfast first.”
Steve nipped his ear. “And then a snack?”
“Down, boy,” Billy scolded, swatting his arm. He turned and walked away—the sway deliberate, as confirmed by the cheeky wink thrown over his shoulder.

You could feel your heartbeat in your ears, pacing back and forth in the hallway of your father's estate. You had been waiting for what seemed like a century. Since you had ignored your father's call, he has now decided to ignore you. Typical for the old man. He's probably losing the plot over the idea of you wanting to marry another, and that other was none other than Jeong Yunho. One of his rivals of sorts. It's not that he hated him. On the contrary, he admired Yunho, thinking he was one of the best in the business. And that is why he was hating you for marrying him. Your father didn’t want to you marry up. He wanted someone lesser, a man that would have no fight nor drive to do something on his own. He wanted you to marry someone that he could control and use you as a tool to control.
But Jeong Yunho… There is no controlling such a man.
He is powerful, talented―in more ways than one―ruthless yet fair and one hell of a lover. He was a god amongst men, and your father, along with many others, knew of this. This is exactly why your father is currently pacing around his office, fearing to let you in, afraid you might have brought your soon-to-be with you. How could he possibly take control of Seoul City now with such a man by your side? After a couple more moments of freaking out, he finally manages to calm himself down, racking his fingers through his thinning oily hair, shooting the last bit of his whisky before taking a seat behind his desk and pretending as if nothing was wrong.
But when you stepped inside the musty office, you could tell immediately that your dear ol’ dad was in a state of panic. You could see the way his eyes were scanning around you, wanting to see if you brought your soon-to-be with you. But you had told Yunho to stay in the car. You wanted to talk with your father without the looming fear your lover brings to others, and you knew your father would be more than spooked. He would be infuriated.
“Hello, father.” You spoke first, making the shaky man finally look at you instead of around the room. His eyes were bloodshot. You could tell he hadn’t slept in a day or so, maybe more. “I assume you’ve heard the news already.”
You knew he already knew, the events at the gala weren’t exactly… quiet, and more than one passerby must have heard you and Yunho. Or worse, someone probably saw Yunho’s men dragging your fiance out of the house for no particular reason…
“Is Lucas alive?” His voice was shaky as if he was terrified of you? Scared of his own daughter.
“That’s what you ask?” You scoffed, not even a ‘hi’ or ‘how are you’. You would have settled on him saying you were a disappointment, but him asking if your ex was alive? Out of anything, he could say. He wanted to know if your shitty pitiful excuse of a man, ex was alive or not? You sighed, turning to look over to the scatter of paintings decorating the walls. Most old paints he bought, illegally, of course. But two of them were hand-painted for his wife, your mother. They really loved each other, but when your mother died giving birth to you, he never seemed to forgive you for it. Like it was your fault for killing the love of his life.
“He’s alive….” You said bluntly, tired of being in your father's presence. Turning back to him, you give him an unexpressed look with a hint of cruelness, something your father has never seen before. “…For now.”
Your father visibly gulped, gripping his pen with a fearsome tightness. For the first time in your life, your father was looking at you, and not as in his eyes gazing upon you with annoyance or displeasure. Or even when you finally get his attention from an argument, and he looks at you with wrath. He never once looked at you, the real you. And now here he was, and he was terrified.
“You c-can’t do this.” He stuttered, sitting straight up in his chair, while the hand that gripped his pen now slowly snaked under the table. “I needed him. I needed to―control me?”
You cut him off with a snapping tone in your voice. You were tired of your father, tired of being the perfect little daughter. Tired of running after an image of yourself, you were never going to truly be. You scoffed, seeing your father's stunned face as if he didn’t know you knew about his plan. But the truth was, you knew the arrangement from the start, and yet you played along, not wanting to disappoint your dearest dad. He thought he raised a fool, someone to manipulate. But in reality, he raised someone crueller than him. Someone with the ability to kill without a second thought.
“Daughter I assure you, I never wanted to….” His words became blurred as anger filled your veins. Now, this lowlife was trying to lie to you? Did he really think so little of you?
“Enough.” You couldn’t care for his bickering. “I’m marrying Yunho with or without your permission. I only came here to give you the decency of telling you in person.”
And with that, you went to walk away, turning on your heels to do to open the large dark oak door. Your father now watched in panic, in veracity. Even though you hated the idea of you marrying Yunho, he was more scared of the fact that he still needed your ex alive. He promised his parents protection, and if he were to die, that would mean war. And you knew It. “I need him released…”
You turned, looking him dead in the eyes. “Released?”
“Yes. If he’s not back in my custody within the hour. You will no longer be my daughter. I swear to god, I will end you.” For a second, he sounded like the powerful man he pretended to be. Threatening anyone that got in his way. But you didn’t care. In fact, it made you smile. amused at him for trying.
“Is that a threat or a promise?” And like that, you left.
-
When you got to the car, Yunho could tell something was wrong. Did the talk not go well? He swears if your father did anything to hurt you, he was going to go back in there and shoot him right between his eyes. But as you got in the car, he knew how you were feeling. A smile panted your face, a sadistic one. You started laughing, a peal of nervous laughter. “All he cared about was Lucas…”
Yunho put his hand on your back, rubbing in circles slowly as he watched your laughter turn into tears and then a full-on sob. “ALL HE CARED ABOUT WAS MY FUCKING EX!” you screamed, falling into Yunho’s embrace, crying into his shoulder. He shushed you softly, trying his best to calm you down. He quickly motioned to his driver to take you home but you stopped him, wiping your tears slightly, seeing your mascara smudging onto your hand.
“Take me to him. I need to see him…Please.” Yunho stared deep at you, looking for any second thoughts in your words. But when he found nothing, he nodded, turning to the driver before simply saying.
“Take us to the dungeon.”
-
It was nearing the hour of midnight, party-goers filling the streets, bar hopping, and dancing wherever the music was. The Dungeon―Yunho’s night club―was one of, if not the best-known club on the block, thousands lined up to get in, even though most of them wouldn’t likely see the inside. The club was stylish and chic with a black and gold aesthetic. Just like Yunho in that area. The theme was his staple. Gold accents, black covering. But below the club was a secret. a hidden club for criminals. Called night hour, the hidden club was where crime lords, drug suppliers, and under-the-table government businesses took place. Only the elites knew of it, so of course your father had known of it, but little did anyone know there was something else under it. A basement level. A place only Yunho and a select few in his team knew. And now you.
The Dungeon, the irony, given there was a literal dungeon under it, filled with cells and interrogating rooms. Among old things, such as a wine seller and storage to supply the clubs above. You walked quickly beside Yunho, feet aching from your heels, but you couldn’t care at that moment. Only wanted to see your ex. Yunho was a bit cautious at first to tell you about this place, let alone that Lucas was here. But when he did tell you, you said you never wanted to see him, nor did you care about such a place. So why now? Why did you want to see him? What was there to speak about?
“Boss. he’s ready.” The one you knew was named Yeosang called from down the hall. Yunho had called while you were in the car to prepare Lucas to be spoken to. Which most likely meant they clean him up a bit. Cause even though Yunho knows you’ve been in this dark world since birth, he wanted to shield you, hide you away from as much as he could. Keep your innocence if it was the last thing he could do. And as you walked down the hall next to him, he felt a sudden uneasiness. He had planned to kill Lucas within the week once you had spoken with your father, so maybe you wanted to get something out of him beforehand. But as you take slow steps towards the cell, he sat in, your heart raced, but your palms never sweat, and your expression never faltered.
He doesn’t notice at first, but you switch to his left side instead of his right, which confused him for a moment, but he thought nothing of it straight after. What he did notice was the way you went silent, more so than usual, and the tension in the air seemed to change. Thicker, it seemed. The door opened ahead of you, and it was like your heart stopped. Your eyes gaze upon your ex, your almost husband, bruised, bloody, and half awake. He was filthy, most likely left in his own mess for who knows how long. And as his swollen lids rose to meet your wide eyes, his expression changed from helplessness to fear.
Cause in his mind, you were the reason he was there. You were the reason he can’t feel the tips of his fingers or toes. If he still even had them, he couldn’t tell anymore. You were the thing he came to fear most. Yunho watched as Lucas's expression shifted at your presence, and out of the corner of his eye, the blank expression across your face concerned him. You got to the end of the hallway, and it was like time stopped. You moved quicker than Yunho can himself. Or maybe he just never expected you to do such a thing. Reaching into the holster that sat perfectly on Yunho’s hip. Pulling out the gun, you clicked the safety switch and shot straight before anyone could react.
You stare where the bullet priced Lucas's frontal lobe. Right between his eyes... The ringing of the gunshot vibrates and stings in yours and Yunho’s ears. It almost sounded like an explosion at the way it echoed on the damp walls. Instantly, Lucas’s head drops. It doesn’t waver or stagger like in the movies. It just drops… dead. He didn't even get a word out before the shot. No plea, no beg. Not even a second breath.
His blood pools into his lap, the spray from the wound paints the wall behind him, and some of the floor became the same as the redness drips off his lap onto the concrete. You don’t realize it, but you stood frozen, not even dropping the gun from it's shotted position. There’s beating on the walls somewhere, maybe from the club above? You shakily inhale, trying to bring yourself back only to notice. The banging wasn’t around you, but the thrumming of your own heart.
So much chaos ensued within only three seconds.
“Baby…” Yunho’s voice called for you, turning your head slowly, your glossed eyes strain upon his. There was sympathy spilling from the mob boss, and was that lust hidden beneath? He has never seen such a thing happen in front of him by such a sweet-looking thing like yourself. He was proud, confused, and maybe a little bit scared. He never wanted you to have to do something like this, but here you were, gun in hand, and blood tainting your soft cheeks, ruining your attire.
“I…” You broke.
Your knees buckled, falling down, but Yunho caught you. Couching down with you in his arms, you clung to him. He took the gun, placing it carefully on the floor beside you. Tears fell down your hot cheeks, but you didn’t sob for Lucas, no, you sob with a mixture of joy and anguish. You were so happy that Lucas was gone and that you had done the unthinkable. Something your father never thought you’d be able to do. But at the same moment, you were terrified. Your life was going to change, and nothing would be the same. And what terrified you the most…
You felt nothing when you took someone's life.
-
The car ride was quiet, but Yunho didn’t mind. He knew you needed it. Time to your own thoughts. Time to collect yourself. But after a couple of minutes, he grew the want to say something. “You know I will never look at you differently because of today.”
It was like he knew your scattered brain. You had thought Yunho might have been mad at you, or maybe he wanted to stop being with you because of your actions. You looked at him with a short smile, thankful for his words. Your hand that was tangled in his squeezed slightly, telling him non-verbally that you understood him.
“You mean so much to me. And I’m proud to see you become someone strong.” the tears return to your eyes with his sappy confession. “I wasn’t really sure what love felt like until I met you. I love you so much, doll.”
You sat up straight so you could reach his lips, but he still had to lean down slightly so you could lock your mouth to his. The kiss was slow, tender, unlike the rough, passionate nights you’ve had with him over the past months. Love spilled from him and made your heart swell. His hand cupped your face, rubbing his thumb along his cheek so he could wipe away your tears.
“I love you too Yuyu…” you broke away from the kiss, nuzzling your nose against his. “I can’t wait to call you mine.”
That sentence sparked something in him. A fire that has been brewing inside him now was bursting out the seams. His eyes turned black, pupils blown and filled with desire. “Say it again.”
You giggled, moving back so you could cup his face in both hands, your eyes no longer glossed and no longer tainted with fear. You give him a devilish smirk, one that makes his heart stop and blood rush to the south. “Mine…” you whispered.

Kevin Atwater- Bombs And Drive By Shooting
Tumblr media
"Ok Jackson ready for work?" I ask my sniffer dog who barks. I get out of the car and walk to the back letting him out
"Officer Halstead thank you for joining us" Hank Voight says to me walking over with my brother Jay
"No problem" Jackson jumps out
"How do you want us to do this?" Kevin, my boyfriend asks walking over to me and Voight
"If you guys could go in first and check the floor. Moving anything that could hurt Jackson, then I'll go in with him and he will sniff out drugs, money and fire arms"
"Sounds good. Atwater you and Burgess are up. Upton I want you to go in with little Halstead. I chuckle at Voights nickname for me to identify which one of us he's talking about.
Kevin and Kim head in first to look around, making sure that the men and woman in the house are secure and that the floor is ok for me to send Jackson in.
When I get the all clear Jackson Hailey and I walk in, Jackson sniffing around. He sits wagging his tail at a few different spots around the house, Kev finds drugs, weapons and cash
"Ok I wanna do one more round with Jackson. Make sure we haven't missed anything since there's been so much in this house" I let Kevin know who radios over to Voight what were going.
Jackson sits facing a wall wagging his tail
"It's just a wall right?" Burgess says looking at me
"Jackson's never wrong" I reply. Hailey goes to tap on the wall to see if it's hollow but I hear ticking
"Wait. You hear that?"
"Is that a bomb?"
"Possibly. Jackson is trained for bombs as well"
"How the hell did it get in there?" Kim asks looking around
"Let's back out slowly. Turn our radios off and get someone to phone bomb squad" Jay says. I walk over to a large painting and take it off the wall noticing a large hole
"This must be how they got it in the wall"
"YN let's go"
"Jay I might be able to see what kind of bomb"
"No. Your leaving now" Jackson and I are dragged outside. I place him back into my car while the building is evacuated. I walk back over to Voight, Jay and Kevin
"Maybe they knew we were coming, so they put a bomb there to blow up all evidence"
"Maybe" Jay replies that's when we all hear gunshots "get down!" Jay yells but it's to late. My leg starts burning and Jackson in my car is barking like mad, probably from the noise
"YN?" Kevin is by my side putting pressure on my leg. Bomb squad arrive and run into the building managing to disarm the bomb pretty easily. Which finally allows us to use our radios once again
"We need multiple ambulances at our location. Drive by shooting multiple victims with GSWs" Jay worriedly says into his radio
"I need someone to take my car. Take Jackson home" I say gritting my teeth together because of the pain
"I'll take him home" Hailey says "you just focus on staying awake"
"YN?" I hear Will shout my name as he runs over to us
"Will I need you to step back" Connor says getting to me first "no family remember. You can take a seat with your brother and Kevin. Brett speak to me"
"GSW to her left thigh. She's alert and awake, ketemine given in the ambulance" Brett tells Dr Rhodes who wheels me away with Maggie and April. Soon enough I'm asleep.
When I wake up Kevin is sat by my bed holding my hand in his
"Hey how you feeling?" he reaches over to grab me a drink and helps me sit up a bit so I can have a bit of water
"Tired. Did we catch the shooter?" I ask earning a chuckle off Kevin as I lay back down
"Yeah we did"
"Where's Jay and Will?"
"Gone to get us all a drink. You've been asleep for 23 hours"
"Fuck"
"Good news though, the operation went well and you should be able to go back on duty with Jackson in 5 or 6 months as long as you do your physical therapy"
"Your awake" Jay sighs walking in and handing a drink to Kevin
"You hungry?" Will asks me
"Not really. Feel a little nauseous to be honest"
"That will be the anaesthetic wearing off. I can ask Maggie or April to give you some antisickness meds?"
"Yes please" Will leaves the room "when can I go home?"
"In a couple of days" Jay says. I groan in response "sorry kiddo but you need to heal up a bit"
"I hate hospitals"
"So do I"
"Are you looking after Jackson for me?" I look at Kevin
"Of course, he's missing you though"
"Miss him too"
"Maybe we can pull some strings and get him here"
"I'd love that" I give Jay a smile. Maggie comes in with Will to give me some antisickness medicine and once it eases up I am able to eat something light.

warnings: probably a kiss or something, two parts
• part 1 • part 2
-----
it had been a week of training, a week of getting to know mapi. we had exchanged numbers after she'd offered to take me out and show me the highlights of barcelona. we had decided on today, hence why i was up at 6 in the morning.
i didn't know where we were planning on going, mapi said she wanted to surprise me. my phone pings with a text from her saying she was out the front. i grabbed my things and headed down, excited for what she had planned.
"hola, i hope your excited." i was grinning when i hopped into her car. "of course i'm excited, the mapi leon is taking me to see barcelona." she laughed at my humour and we drove out of my street to where ever mapi had planned. barcelona was a beautiful city, the sun was rising and the colours were thrown through the sky like a painting.
even though i didn't know where we were going, my head was still out of the window most of the time, enjoying the beauty of barcelona. it took just under an hour but mapi had driven us into the heart of barcelona, to the arco de triunfo. i was in awe, i had never seen anything like it.
i took a couple of pictures of it, before mapi took one of me with it, then i asked someone walking past if they could take one of me and mapi. i thanked them when they had and mapi tugged my hand back to walk to the car and show me to our next place.
we had drove past castell dels tres dragons, and i managed to get a picture of it, then mapi pulled up to museo picasso. it was a beautiful art gallery, over 4,000 pieces were on display.
we walked through the building, admiring the artwork, although i was pretty sure that mapi's eyes were on me the whole time. after that we went to three other locations; mural del beso, muralla romana and el cap de barcelona. finally, to end our day out we stopped off at a sushi place.
"this is amazing, thank you so much mapi." i thanked the woman profusely, she had shown me the most amazing places, my camera roll was full. "no problem, y/n." we sat together eating our sushi, when i had a thought. "is your real name mapi? or is it a nickname?"
i knew her as mapi, but i swear ingrid had told me her full name before. "my full name is maria pilar león cebrián." she had a shy look on her face and i smiled gently at her admission. "that's a beautiful name." we spent the last bit of our time speaking together before we had to drive back home. another hour later we arrived at my apartment and i had to get out.
"thankyou again for today. i really enjoyed it." i pushed my luck a bit and leant forward to press a kiss to her cheek before hopping out of the car. i looked back to see mapi, stunned in the drivers seat and blushing. "adiós, y/n." (bye, y/n.)
——
it was training day today. i groaned when that thought came to mind, i wanted it to be yesterday so i could see all of the landmarks mapi showed me again. ingrid was picking me up again this morning so i waited for her 'i'm here' text before i grabbed my stuff and went outside. when i got into the car she immediately asked about yesterday.
"how was it?" "it was incredible. she showed me the most amazing places and took me for sushi at the end." i rambled on about how much i enjoyed the day with mapi. ingrid was smiling while listening to me go on about it. "you really like mapi, don't you?" she asked with a knowing tone.
i had to pause for a second to let it register. all my feelings ran through my mind as i took my time. "i think, yea, i do." clearly ingrid wasn't expecting that answer from me as she whipped back to me. "wait really?" "yea." a growing smile turned into a giant grin on ingrid as she drove. "oh my god, you have to tell her! she definitely has a thing for you."
"she does not! she was probably just being nice yesterday." i knew i was kidding myself, i had pecked her on the cheek yesterday and she was blushing. if she was just being nice she wouldn't react like that. but my humility stood in the way of that thought.
we finally got to camp nou and both walked in together. everyone was in the cafeteria so we went to join them. mapi, aitana, patri, alexia and marta were all at a table together. ingrid beat me to the seats and chose to sit next to alexia, which left me to sit with mapi. i knew she did that on purpose.
we all started talking and continued for a bit before i got hungry and went to get some food. i was gone for about ten minutes, there was a line, and unbeknownst to me ingrid had started talking with mapi.
when i came back, they didn't realise i could hear them and i caught the last bit of the conversation. "... me gusta mucho y/n." (i really like y/n.) i stopped where i was, not wanting to interrupt what she was saying. but ingrid spotted me and beckoned me over, which caught mapi off guard and she stopped talking.
i walked back over and sat down next to mapi, trying my hardest not to act awkward. i think ingrid knew that i had heard and could understand what mapi had said and she nodded at me, trying to get me to talk to her. i have in and told myself 'fuck it, why not'.
i leant towards mapi and whispered in her ear, "a mí también me gustas mucho maría." i could see her tense up when i said that, she didn't know that i knew spanish fluently. "¿de veras?" (really?) she questioned me. "sí." (yes.) i nodded. she grinned at my confirmation and grabbed my hand to lead me away from the table and out to the hall.
"you're telling me that you knew spainish this whole time?" i laughed.
"yes, it was ingrid's idea."
mapi just laughed at that.
"of course it was. well in that case, ¿quieres ser mi novia?" (will you be my girlfriend?)
i grinned at her.
"absolutamente, maría." (absolutely, maría.)

Ch. 6 He knows who you are, now, and he wishes to know you better. [Masterlist] Previous - Next
Your new room is beautiful, even more than your apartment in the Grand Palace. The view is beautiful too, on the courtyard and the surrounding wall, and the windows are not even sealed closed, meaning he doesn't think you could, or want to escape.
You sit there, looking at the refined tapestry on the wall, uncertain whether or not you should feel a prisoner.
You met Genya, a few hours ago. You had just shown to your new quarters, and the General was gone. He had been silent, and polite, and mysterious enough to drive you crazy.
But you knew Genya. You already met her while she was attending the Queen. You always liked her, and the two of you also gossiped a little, during those endless receptions.
She found you wandering around the room like a caged creature. She had brought some lunch with her, and she smiled. "I thought you could use a friend", she said.
"I didn't realize we were friends", you replied, with a hint of hope.
"Well, how convenient I'm determined to be one". She sat down at a small table in front of the window and gestured to the chair in front of her.
"Did he send you?" you asked, sitting down.
"Of course he did", Genya replied. "It was the most sensible thing to do. But it doesn't mean I'm not genuinely interested in how you are feeling now. Or curious to know what happened".
"I guess I do have a story to tell", you said.
You told her everything, and you felt relieved.
Genya listened, and fell silent for a long time once you had ended you tale.
"You are safe, here", she eventually said. "You can be what you are".
"You mean a weapon?" you replied. "A valuable tool, for them to use? Because that's not what I am".
You immediately realized you had struck a nerve. Genya lowered her eyes, and seemed to drift away, but just for a moment.
"We all have to endure, if we wish to be eventually free", she concluded. She sounded so wise, and she was right.
"Am I his prisoner?" you asked, right before Genya left. You both knew who you were referring to, and there was no need to explain.
"He will say you are his guest", she whispered. "But actually, you are what you make yourself".
She paused, and before walking out the door, she said: "He wishes you joined him for dinner, tonight. That's why he sent me in the first place".
Your heart missed a beat. "You can tell him I will be pleased to accept his invitation".
It felt the right thing to say, but now, as you wait for someone to come and take you to him, you are not so sure anymore.
You hear a knock at the door. You rush to open it. Ivan, the Heartrender, the General's right hand man, is there.
You follow him through the unfamiliar corridors of the Little Palace, suddenly feeling a little homesick. There's life behind all those closed doors you are passing by, people just like you, blessed or cursed with strange powers, and you wonder if you'll ever be part of their world, or if you'll just stay forever in between, being neither Grisha, neither otkasat'sya.
Ivan opens the doors of the General's quarters, then disappears.
The Darkling welcomes you in.
He wears is black kefta, but the collar is unbuttoned. He is dashing like a prince, and you proceed to ignore him and his piercing dark eyes, while you make a few steps inside the room.
It is comfortably warm, the walls are filled with bookshelves and maps, and candles have been lit in every corner. There is a small table set for two, and he gallantly moves the chair for you to sit on.
He knows how to behave around royalty, and you remember you are a princess. When he sits in front of you, you look haughtily down at him and say nothing.
"I trust you found your quarters comfortable", he says.
"Yes, they are suitable", you answer. You also manage to add: "Thank you", but it doesn't come easily.
Dinner is exquisite, and you haven't eaten much the whole day, but you struggle to enjoy it as you would in any other occasion.
You notice there is only water on the table. "No wine?"
"I like a clear head", he replies. "Although, occasionally, I might indulge a little fog".
"But not tonight".
"Not tonight".
You stare at each other and you feel the urge to say something, anything to break the silence.
"Of course. You must need a clear mind, to interrogate me".
He chuckles. "Interrogate you?"
"Isn't this the purpose of it all?" you make a gesture to the table. "I deceived you, and I would, still, if you hadn't exposed my secret so... easily. Actually, what was that? I didn't even know I could summon in the daytime".
"I amplify other Grisha's powers".
"Simply by touching them?"
"Simple as that".
You raise your eyebrows, considering it. "How unconvenient. People must have tried to use you too".
You expect him to reply, instead he says nothing. When you look at him, he's staring at you, but he seems to have drifted somewhere else, deep in his memories.
"That's what you'll do to me", you add, trying to ignore the fact that your words might have resonated in him more than you wished for. "You'll use me to gain power, victories or whatever it is that you crave".
"You paint me quite the tyrant", he replies, sharply. "And to think you don't even know me".
"And you don't know me".
"Yet, you assume you know my... cravings".
You might have blushed.
"Fine. That was quite unfair. Those weren't your words, after all. They were the King's".
He stands up, like the only mention of the King has made him restless. Maybe he has ran out of his patience. You are almost going to dismiss yourself, when he stops by the window and speaks again.
"I was wondering if you could show me".
"Show you what?!"
He turns to you. "Your light".
You are almost speechless. "You have seen my light".
"Not really", he answers. "That was me, calling it for you. But tonight is a fine night". He looks out the window again, his shape barely lit. "A perfect, bright full moon".
When he turns, he's looking hopeful. You feel a knot in your throat.
But deep inside, you are inexplicably excited.
You raise your hand, just a few inches above your leg, as you are still sitting down. You can feel the full moon like a limb of your body, and it's easy to let it come to you.
A ticklish, sparkling light emerges from your palm. It moves towards your wrist, flickering, then it slips down on your knuckles.
The Darkling stands frozen at the window frame, like he's suddenly unable to talk, or move, or be anything else than hypnotized by your evanescent, soft moonlight.
Then he approaches you, but slowly, like he's afraid you'll take it away if he comes too close. For a moment, you enjoy the thought of having that kind of power over him.
But reality surpasses your fantasy, as he kneels down in front of you.
You are face to face now, and you get lost in his eyes, darker than the night itself, filled with unsaid promises, and mysteries you can't help but wonder. He doesn't stop looking at you, while he lifts his hand, placing it a few inches above yours.
Darkness comes floating out of his fingers, like black waterpaint, so softly you wouldn't even think of its deadly power. It surrounds your sparkles of moonlight, but instead of suffocating them, it makes them glow even brighter.
It's like a small galaxy has found its place beneath his hand and yours.
It seems he could stay like that forever. And, damn it, you could too.
Instead, you ask, with the faintest whisper: "Am I your prisoner?"
He answers quietly. "You are my guest".
Something breaks inside you. You close your fist, and just like that your moonlight is gone.
His shadows dissipate like smoke from a candle, as you stand up from your chair. "It was a most... instructive evening. I am quite tired, now, and I wish to rest".
He stands up too, and walks you to the door like nothing has happened. You successfully keep the same blank face, ignoring the weird heartache that's tearing you apart.
"Goodnight".
And so you are back to reality. Back to the beautiful room that might be a prison, if you decide it is one. The window next to your bed gives you the best view on the night sky, and you wonder if that's why you were given that room in the first place.
The moon reminds and remembers. It is never gone, it only hides. Whatever happened tonight, it won't be gone tomorrow. You extend your arms above you and let the light come back to you, just because it feels good, and ask yourself if he ever does the same with his shadows.
Hi everybody. I hope you are enjoying this story so far. Please remember English is not my first language, and that I'm writing purely for fun. If you appreciate my work, please like, repost or leave a comment. You'll make my day! See you next.

Warnings: blood, serious injuries
Pairing: Jenna Ortega X Fem!Reader
———
“Jen, there was a terrible huge car accident, a few victims, some are in really bad condition. I need to get to the hospital and help in the ER. I’ll see you at home.” These were the words her mother told her before Jenna was left alone at the premiere, with her friends and crew, who will take her home later that night.
disbelief and fear filled your mind as you laid on your back, sandwiched between the cold, soft dirt and the hot, slick metal of the car. The weight of the car pressed down on your full body with monster force. It did not hurt, your body was numb. All you could feel was the car hood's mass stamping your body further and further into the ground. Your lungs felt pinched shut and air would neither enter nor escape them. Your mind was buzzing. What had just happened? In the distance, on that cursed road, you saw cars driving by completely unaware of what happened, how you felt. You tried to yell but your voice was unheard. All you could do was wait. Wait for someone to help you or wait to die.
Meanwhile, Natalie had been called on the scene instead of the ER, she didn’t know why but when nurses and doctors were called on the scene it meant that it was really, really bad. And it definitely was. A truck had ran a red light, just out of town, pushing another car down the hill. The car rolled and rolled, until it came to a stop when it hit a tree. Another car was involved too, smashing against a wall, everyone inside of it was dead. As soon as. Natalie arrived and saw the scene, she wished she never did see that. The people in the car smashed against the wall were reduced to blood and crashed bones, she never saw something so bad. Then she walked over to the firemen, who were going down the hill with a rope to the car that had rolled down. “What do we have here?” Natalie asked. “Female, 20 to 25 years old. She’s unconscious and unresponsive, her body’s stuck between pieces of the car and we can’t get her out. The driver’s dead, but we have hope for the girl. We’ll tie a rope around you and help you down so you can take her vitals”
Natalie nodded and looked down at the car for the first time. It was a black, car with dark tinted windows… she knew that kind of car. It was one of those cars for famous people, and tonight the only car like that that left the awards sooner was your car. Natalie started going down the hill thinking, ‘please let it not be her, please’ she silently prayed, she hated the thought of you being in this conditions. As soon as she took a look in the car she saw that it was you. Covered in blood and bruises, but it was you. Her heartbeat faltered for a moment at the thought of you getting seriously hurt or even dying. However she couldn’t reach you from outside the car, so she had to slide inside through the car window. “(Y/N)? Honey can you hear me?” Natalie said, reaching her hand onto your neck looking for a pulse. You were bleeding from your head continuously, your whole face covered in it. “I’ve got a pulse! Let’s get her out of this car!” Natalie yelled, trying to get the firemen’s attentions.
“(Y/N) I need you to answer to me sweetheart” Natalie tried, managing to move a hand to your face as she opened your eye, moving a flashlight in front of your eyes. “Her Pupils are dilated, you need to move now!” Natalie insisted, watching as you slowly became paler. “You can’t leave us honey. We need you, you have a bright future ahead of you” she basically begged, talking to you, still unconscious and bleeding. She tried to get a look at your lower body, but it was basically crushed from the chest down and she couldn’t see it. She just has to wait till they get you out, which was a couple hours later. She kept checking on your pulse which was getting fainter with each minute that passed but soon enough you were out of the car and laying on a stretcher. You had a broken vertebra, a few broken ribs and your pelvis was almost completely shattered. When your heartbeat had been stabilized you were immediately being rushed to the hospital, Natalie in the ambulance with you as she decided it was finally time to text her daughter a ‘honey, please get to the hospital. It’s urgent’
It wasn’t long before the brunette was driving from the awards to the hospital, where she paced nervously around the waiting room. It was almost three in the morning so the room was empty. “Darling?” Her mother finally called and Jenna walked over, holding her dress up as not to trip. “Mom what’s wrong? Is everyone okay? Is everyone safe Home?” Jenna asked precipitously, her mother placing her hand on her daughter’s shoulder. “Yes darling, everyone’s safe at home. They’re all probably sleeping right now” Natalie replied with a small sad smile “then why did I have to come here urgently?” Natalie sighed and looked down. “I can’t put it into words, You have to see it yourself…” she replied and Jenna gulped, she felt her heart speed up “you’re making me worried” Jenna said and followed her mother into the corridor of the ICU, it was extremely quiet, the only noise being the beeping monitors and the breathing machines, and the occasional chatters of the doctors.
Eventually they reached a room, the window was covered by the drapes to have some privacy, and some slow beeping could be heard coming from inside. “Wait, before we get inside” Natalie said, stopping Jenna before she could open the door. “You’re not going to like what you’ll see… she’s stable for now, but until she wakes up we won’t know if she has brain damage-“ Natalie was about to continue, but Jenna interrupted her. “Who’s she?” Jenna asked, visibly confused. Natalie sighed and opened the door to your room. You laid there unconscious, a neck collar around you and multiple machines attached to you. You had multiple cuts on your face, multiple bandages on your body from the surgeries you had to endure. Jenna was at loss for words, she had seen multiple scenarios like this one, but seeing you in these conditions was doing her no good. “W-what happened?” She said walking in the room, next to your bed as she took a look at you. The distressed look on your face was something that will definitely haunt her dreams, she just wished it was a horrible nightmare and that she’d wake up and you’d be fine.
“Remember when I told you that I got called in for a car crash? I went to the scene, she’s the only survivor. She was stuck under the car, her head was bleeding, she has a broken vertebra, a few broken ribs… her pelvis was almost completely shattered. The surgeons don’t know if she’ll ever be able to walk again…” Jenna shook her head, tears began flooding her eyes “no that can’t be true, there has to be some sort of m-mistake” she said, trying not to give in to the tears. She leaned over to you, moving some hair out of your face as she gently caressed your cheeks. She was barely touching you, afraid she’ll hurt you. “(Y/N) you ha-have to wake up” she said and looked at you, she just wanted to see her reflection in your eyes “wake up!” She insisted and gave in to the tears, trying to get to to wake up. Natalie was about to cry too, but she went to hug her daughter to give her the comfort she needed “I c-can’t lose her m-mom” she sobbed out, hiding her face in her mother’s chest. “I know baby I know” she said, hugging her sobbing daughter.
She had seen her distressed before, but never like this, which confirmed her that even after pushing you away, Jenna still cared deeply about you, she still loved you. “I promise you we’ll do whatever we can to make sure she’ll recover perfectly.” Jenna nodded quickly, still hiding her face in her mom’s chest. “It’ll be a long way before she fully recovers and she’ll need us. She’ll need you and even if she’ll try pushing you away you have to stay for her” Jenna nodded again and soon enough she was back to looking at you, sitting down on the chair next to your bed. She was still in her dress from the award, but she didn’t want to leave knowing you were in so much pain. Jenna didn’t plan on leaving and as a matter of fact she stayed there at the hospital the whole night, just watching over you and waiting for you to be alright.
The next morning you seemed to have stabilized a bit, your heartbeat was steady and even if you were attached to a monitor, Jenna kept checking on your pulse the whole night, she didn’t even sleep. when her mother came to check in on you she brought Jenna some food which she gladly took, without taking her eyes off of you. “We have to do something you might not like” Natalie started, making Jenna look up at her. “We need to lower her morphine down until she wakes up. She’ll be in a lot of pain, but we need to check if there’s any brain damage… is this okay with you?” Natalie asked, which made Jenna look at her in confusion. “I thought you knew. (Y/N) has you as her emergency contact and you’re listed to be the one to take decisions for her in case she can’t… like now” Jenna sighed, she felt this huge responsibility on her right now, but she couldn’t stand down. She needed you to be alright. “Will it help you and the doctors get her better?” She asked and Natalie nodded. Then Jenna gave consent and doctors started lowering your morphine.
Jenna was watching you intently, waiting for any reaction from you. Natalie was standing next to you, with her flashlight ready to examine you the moment you woke up. When you did you immediately felt incredible pain on your whole body, your eyes shot open and you felt like you couldn’t breathe if it wasn’t for the tube in your mouth, that was so bothering and hurting you so much. “(Y/N), honey you need to calm down” her voice was like an echo, you felt dizzy and disoriented, your eyes were looking around frenetically in search for someone that you recognized, until you saw Natalie and you started taking deep breaths. “Do you know where you are?” You nodded slightly at her question, tears leaving your eyes from the immense pain. “Do you know who I am?” You nodded again. She then proceeded to have you follow her finger and look at the light. She sighed of relief when she saw you were alright and you didn’t have any brain damages “I’m gonna put you back to sleep right now-“ she said but you interrupted her, grasping her shirt, looking at her with fear. You were scared and you didn’t want to be alone.
You were completely unaware of the fact that Jenna was there too, as she had left the room the moment she heard you whimper in pain. It was too bad of a sight for her. Natalie took ahold of your hand and squeezed it reassuringly “you’ll be okay sweetheart. I’m here, you’re not alone okay?” You slightly nodded, still whimpering from the pain. You wanted to ask if Jenna was there, but you couldn’t ask that with only your eyes available. “I’m going to set the morphine level high again okay?” She got up and moved to where the morphine was, but you stopped her with a louder whimper and only looked at her, hoping she’d understand what you wanted only looking at you in the eyes. You looked at the door, hoping she’d understand. Fortunately for you she did. “Jenna’s here. Don’t worry darling she’s here and she won’t leave your side.” You nodded again and finally she raised the morphine level until you were asleep again.
Natalie left the room and saw her daughter sitting down on the floor against the wall. When she saw her mother she stood up. “Are you finished? Is she alright?” Jenna asked, wiping her tears. “No brain damage fortunately. We’re going to wait a couple days for her conditions to improve and then we’ll take her off the morphine” Jenna nodded and sighed of relief “mom?” Jenna asked when she saw her mother starting to leave “is any of this my fault? Is it my fault that she’s…-“ she was about to start crying again, luckily her mother noticed and hugged her tightly. “No baby it is not your fault. I promise you” she said and kissed her daughter’s forehead, trying to reassure her. “If I never hurt her, she wouldn’t have been so traumatized whenever she saw me, she wouldn’t have left the premiere early because of me, she wouldn’t be in that fucking bed” she pointed out and sobbed, once again sniffling in her mother’s chest.
“I know you and her have been talking before the awards. I knew she had been at our place because I could smell her scent in the living room, I knew that I had hurt her yet I never apologized. I never tried winning her beck, I just let her suffer. I knew she was suffering and I did nothing about it. I knew she was depressed because of me and I did nothing about it. Now she’s in that bed and partly it’s because of me and it hurts so bad mom, it hurts so bad” Natalie only tightened the hug and kissed her daughter’s head “the least you can do now is be by her side until she recovers. She needs us and she needs you particularly so don’t let go of her”
‘Famous actress (Y/N)(L/N) was involved in a terrible car crash. She was the only survivor but we don’t know anything about her conditions yet.’ This how the most recent article begun, you were all over the news. It was almost everyday that paparazzi wanted to get into the hospital to snap a picture of you, but Natalie always told them off and made sure you were left alone, or alone with Jenna, even if you weren’t awake yet. Fortunately, you did wake up after a week, your body was still weak, but you had recovered some energies and could breathe on your own. When you woke up there was no one in your room. The tube in your Mouth almost suffocating you as you coughed. You pressed the medical assistance button on the side of your bed and within seconds Natalie was there and took your tubes out, allowing you to breathe on your own. She passed you some water and you drank a little because your throat was dry, and then Natalie sat down on your bed and caressed your cheeks.
“You gave us a big scare honey” she started, sighing of relief as you leaned in to the familiar touch. “I’m sorry” you said, voice hoarse and you looked at her. “W-what happened to me? I mean- what did I break?” You asked, you didn’t want to talk about the accident. You just wanted to know what bones you have broken. “You have a broken vertebra and a few broken ribs… those healed already but you still need to wear a collar” you nodded at her words and then watched her take a deep breath. “Honey, your lower half was completely under the car. Your pelvis was almost completely shattered. The surgeons fixed it but your nerves and tendons were severely damaged. There’s a high chance you might never… you might never walk again” you felt your heart skip a beat at that. You wanted to cry, you wanted to scream but you knew you had to stay calm. “But there’s- there must be some kind of therapy right??” The feeling of not being able to walk again Made you sick to your stomach, if you never recovered your career would be over.
“Yes there are some therapies. We will definitely put you on the list but if your nerves are completely damaged it’ll be useless, you get that right?” You were about to reply, but the door opened that same moment. “Mom is she alright? I was told someone requested medical assistance here…” she was to continue, but then saw you were awake. Jenna thought about this moment for the past week, but now that you were awake she didn’t know how to act, what to tell you. “I’ll leave you girls alone” Natalie said and stood up, leaving the room as you were left alone with Jenna. Both of you didn’t know what to say, an uncomfortable silence filled the room. “(Y/N) I’m sorry-“ you were quickly to interrupt her. “Don’t…” you looked at her briefly, before looking away. “Just… hug me?” You pleaded, she wasn’t expecting this. “Are you sure?” She asked and looked at you, with tears in her eyes. “Yes, please just give me a hug” Jenna didn’t want to be told twice, so she leaned in and wrapped her arms around your torso, careful not to hurt you but you were the one to tighten the hug, sobbing into her shoulder. You had been wanting her hug for a lot now, and you couldn’t help but break down when you were finally in her arms again.
A couple tears left Jenna’s eyes as well, she rubbed your back and tried to comfort you while apologizing multiple times. There wasn’t an excuse for how she treated you, but she knew she wanted to make it up to you. “I was so s-scared” you sobbed out, in this moment you didn’t care if she hurt you a lot, you needed her, you needed her presence, you needed her comfort and luckily she was there to give it to you. “You’re okay now… you’ll be okay” she said and only hugged you tighter. “Please don’t leave again” you begged and gripped her shirt, keeping her close to you “I don’t want to be alone” you said and sniffled, then you felt Jenna caress the back of your head. “I won’t leave you again… I promise” she whispered and kissed your cheek before pulling back from the hug and sitting down on the bed’s edge, looking at you with a small smile “It’s good seeing you awake… we were really worried for you” she said and looked at you with a small, sad smile.
“(Y/N), I’m really sorry for how I treated you-“ you sighed and shook your head “Jen I don’t want to hear it-“ she interrupted you “no, I need to say this, please” you were hesitant, but you ended up nodding at her words and listening to her “I never meant a word of what I said. I become irrational and I don’t think before speaking, but really I never meant any of that” she said, talking about the day you broke up because she told you she didn’t need you anymore. “Why did you never apologize then?” You asked her and saw how she went silent. “If you never meant that, why did you never apologize to me?” She looked down “I didn’t feel worthy of that. I felt like you deserved someone better then me” you shook your head, at least she was being honest with you. “Jen… no one will ever be as good as you. You’re what’s best for me…” you said. “But…” she continued “but you betrayed my trust. You didn’t support me, you never asked me how I was doing. Not once did you let me talk about myself, I felt shut out. I wasn’t able to talk about what made me happy because you didn’t want to hear it, you were always focused on work and you made me feel like my presence was useless. And when you told me that you were happy without me, I felt my heart break. You confirmed my thoughts, that my presence was useless”
“I’m so sorry for making you feel that way, please, please forgive me” Jenna begged, taking a hold of your hand and squeezing it “I want you in my life, that’s for sure” you said and looked at her. “But it’ll take me a lot if time to trust you again, and I don’t know if we will ever be a couple again” you said and she nodded “let’s just give it time” you said, trying to reassure her as you pulled her in for another hug. You were too good of a person to push her away completely, but for Jenna this was good too. She’d do anything to be with you in any kind of way. Weeks passed, you were still at the hospital and Jenna was coming to visit you every day. She had deleted all of her meetings that needed her outside of town, because she needed to be close to you. She even postponed filming up until she knew you would be out of the hospital.
Eventually it was time for you to try and walk. You were scared, really scared, because if you couldn’t walk, then yes, your career as an actress will definitely be over. Doctors helped put you on a wheelchair and took you to the hospital’s small gym, Jenna and Natalie were there too as you were really anxious and needed calming down. The doctors helped you stand up, one of the doctors standing in front of you to hold you in case you ever fell as you held yourself up on the bars, too scared to even take one step. your legs were shaking and you were in so much pain, but you didn’t know if it was psychological. “I c- I can’t” you shook your head, tears in your eyes as you sat back down on the wheelchair, to scared to walk. “Yes you can” Jenna started, making her way over to you as she cupped your face. “You’re doing great (Y/N)” she said and caressed your cheeks with her thumbs “you managed to stand up and that alone is great. If you manage to take a few steps then you won’t have to walk anymore today. Just… do it for yourself, for your career and for the people that love you”
You were still scared as hell, but you knew you couldn’t give up. “I’ll hold your hand if you want me to” Jenna said and you nodded, standing up slowly you took her hand in your own, squeezing it tightly as you took a few steps. Your pelvis and legs hurt a lot, you took about 10 steps before you couldn’t handle the pain anymore and asked to be brought to your room. You saw doctors talk about your conditions and suggest treatments and surgeries to make you feel less pain, you’ll eventually have to choose within them. Days passed and as you kept on trying to walk and constantly failing, you told Jenna that she didn’t have to come watch you trying to walk, as she didn’t deserve to see you in pain. Truth is, you wanted to surprise her eventually. You were close with her again, sure you weren’t a couple but you acted the same you used to before you got together the first time. Today you were sitting up on your hospital bed, scrolling on instagram when Jenna arrived “hey! How are you today?” She asked you and sat down on your bed. You put your phone away and looked at her.
“I’m a bit better. Still can’t really walk but, you know” you shrugged, lying. She didn’t know that you were actually getting better and you could almost walk on your own, you were just waiting for the perfect time to surprise her. “I have the Scream VI premiere in new york next week, I wanted you to come with me but if you can’t walk, I don’t want to make you uncomfortable” here it is, this is the perfect occasion. You’d buy tickets for new york and surprise her at the premiere “I’ll be watching from here” you said and smiled at her, but mostly at yourself for the idea you just had. Of course you told everything to Natalie as well, and she talked with the doctors who allowed you to leave the hospital to go attend the premiere. It would be your first time in public after the accident and you were really nervous only at the idea of having to take a car to get to the airport.
You nearly had a panic attack when in the car, but you calmed down once you reached the airport. Luckily there weren’t any paparazzi so you were pretty sure that no one would spoil Jenna the surprise and it was great. Once in new york you had your stylists and make up artists helped you choose a look for the night that was to come and you went for something simple, as you had to use crutches while walking you couldn’t wear something that could make you trip and fall, so you wore a short dress with a jacket, and headed to the premiere, once again panicking when in the car. When your car pulled up, basically everyone was confused, all the actors had arrived so no one knew who had just arrived. That was until you got out of the car. Jenna was busy in an interview so she didn’t see you but the other actors did. You already knew them and they were glad to see you were doing great after the accident, and paparazzi were snapping pictures of you as you explained the actors what you were doing there.
When Jenna was finished with the interviews and she went to the other actors she saw you, standing there. “(Y/N)? Oh my god you’re walking!?” She walked over and hugged you tightly. “You lied to me!” She giggled and gently nudged your side “I wanted to surprise you. I still have to use the crutches but I can walk on my own” you said and she only tightened the hug. You moved your weigh on one leg and hugged her back. “You’re such an idiot” she said and pulled back, taking a hold of your hand
“yeah but I’m your favorite idiot”
A/N: wrote this chapter while sick with a temperature over 100 so this is not the best but I hope you still like it!

The director of special education did not show up to our IEP this week. It made the meeting a whole lot less contentious. It didn’t hurt that they assigned a much more experienced teacher to DS and our advocate showed up and kept everyone in line. Should it take that much work/effort/stress? Absolutely not! I will never understand how anyone is getting services if we cannot with all of the privileges we have personally been afforded.
DH and I talked to Ms. 6 this week. It could be worse, but it’s not great. She bought herself a car or someone else did, but it seems no one cares if she has insurance (legally required). I told her to call and get some quotes. She has not.
She has a boyfriend she met online that no one has vetted. He’s older (no idea how much older) as he has his own place. He lives three hours away in a neighboring state, but Ms. 6 couldn’t remember which city he lives in. She goes to see him on the weekends despite the fact that no one has met him or vetted him. It’s killing me! She was very vague on the details regarding what he does for a living.
Her car seems some basic repairs. Her grandpa has been a semi truck driver for decades. Hasn’t helped her with the repairs. Boyfriend is maybe some kind of mechanic but is unable to help with repairs. Mom is driving Ms. 6’s uninsured car and teaching Ms. 6 how to do donuts in it.
Ms. 6 said she applied to a PA program. When I pointed out that the PA program she applied for is a masters program (aren’t they all?) that cost $109k for the 28 month program, she seemed shocked and unimpressed. I did do a conference call with her and the high school this week to try to sort out her graduation.
Ms. 6 had knee surgery last week. I offered to be available and make the three hour drive to take her. She said her mom was taking her. The night before surgery her mom said she had to work and couldn’t take her. Grandma said she couldn’t take her because she had already take a sick day that week. Mom’s BF drove her, but apparently doesn’t like hospitals so he didn’t sit in the room and wait for Ms. 6 to be taken back to surgery. Surgery was pushed back several hours. Now mom doesn’t want to take her to the post-op appointment because the dogs have a vet appointment.
Post surgery, Ms. 6 was prescribed narcotics. Mom is an addict. Is she currently using? I have no idea but she used for at least a decade and has a conviction for cooking meth with the intent to sell. Kids were removed for many reasons including heroin use. Ms. 6 said the “oxy” isn’t managing her pain so she asked the nurse for something else AND an oxy refill. The pharmacist wouldn’t give both to mom. Mom told Ms. 6 it’s because they don’t have the same last name. I pointed out that I also don’t share the same last name as anyone in our family, and we were also recently denied a narcotic at the pharmacy. It is clear that no one that she has contact with lives in their thinking brains—they are all convinced that they are victims of one system or another.
Ms. 6 also quit her job. She said it was because they were making her do too much work.
Ms. 6 really wants contact with the other kids, particularly NB at this point. We have withheld that so far but can’t really articulate why. I think because it doesn’t feel healthy or good, and things don’t necessarily feel stable with her between DH and myself and her. I’ve talked to her a handful of times in the past month which are the first times I’ve spoken to her since she left in August. Anyone have experience in this area? Is it wrong for us to feel it out as parents before we open that relationship back up to siblings? It’s not my intention to use them as pawns, but it probably feels that way to Ms. 6. The kids here have not asked to see her, and DS and DD are actively continuing to say that they don’t want to have contact.
I’m trying to be something for her but that all feels very temporary and complicated right now. I sent her a small care package today via mail and am going to offer up some services for her like connecting her with colleges, but am trying to hold tight to a lot of boundaries at this point.

Lockpicking Lessons
Word Count: 947
No beta so mistakes will be made
Monks have high dexterity so might as well use it for unlawful things.
"If my memory serves me correctly, you were the one who asked me to teach you."
Olive groaned in frustration at the elf's belittling but kept her eyes focused on the locking mechanism. It had been a few days since she mustered up the courage, or rather, push down her pride to ask him about lockpicking. She always noticed how fast Astarion disarmed and broke into chests and wondered if she could do the same. Maybe she could put that skill on her belt. It at least be one of the few skills she would know where it came from, unlike the others from her foggy past.
What Olive didn't realize was how insanely bad Astarion was at teaching. With every turn of a knob, every stab with a pick, Astarion found something to scrutinize. He always had a condescending tone, no doubt that... but couldn't he at least tone it down??? Could he at least say "good job" for once? So far, she managed to pick at anything he threw at her, so why was he so damn demeaning. If it were for her pride and some sort of respect she had for Astarion, Olive would have quit by now. Hells, anyone would have.
"Counter-clock wise, my dear," Astarion muttered softly. Olive didn't dare turn around, just to see that look he would have when he was being a tad more of a prick.
"Oh, for the love of the hells, I KNOW!!!!" She heard a quiet chuckle. The sound itself was enough to make her cheek flush. From embarrassment or something else, she didn't want to think too deeply.
"Usually, people in my tent scream with me, not at me. So please keep in mind that others are around and we wouldn't want them to have a wrong impression of us, do we?" Astarion murmured. Olive didn't know whether to throw the tool kit at the still locked chest or at Astarion's face. Though if she had thrown it at him, then she would have seen a look of someone quite impressed of her efforts.
When the tiefling had asked him to teach her locking picking, Astarion outright laughed at her face. When he saw her nervous smile turn into an insulted frown, Astarion felt a tinge of regret at the pit of his stomach. To be honest, Astarion didn't even think about the fact that anyone would have noticed his lockpicking skills. One would assumed that lockpicking was a given for someone like Astarion. He wasn't exactly used to others coming to him to learn.
Well, learn about pleasure, undoubtedly. Learn about how to break into a locked door, usually told against it.
Even more surprising, it was Olive who was asking him. The monk wasn't 100% a driving force of light like Wyll, thank gods for that, but she wasn't about to maim some gnomes for gold either. She still had that righteous air about her that Astarion could not stand. So color him surprise at fact that Olive wanted to lockpick.
Color him even more surprised that Olive was a natural. Of course, nothing compared to his own flick of the wrist, but Olive managed to break through most of the locks he threw at her, and he only had been teaching for so little time. Astarion knew he wasn't made for teaching, so all of this choked up to be Olive's own skill. She didn't have the hands of someone who had done this before, Astarion could see that easily, but her hands moved like someone who worked with finessing. Due to her amnesiac conditions, it probably be a while until the reason manifested
"Almost there.....and-!" With a soft clunk, the chest flipped out revealing small trinkets and items that Astarion had collected over time. Olive jumped up from kneeling to turn to Astarion with a please grin. Astarion felt something in his heart but couldn't make out what it was or if he wanted to know what it was.
"Hah! Suck it, Astarion!" Astarion gave Olive his signature seductive look.
"Oh, I intend to, darling~" Olive rolled her eyes, but her smile still remained on her face. She put a hand on Astarion's arm, giving him a warm look.
"Thanks, Astarion, for teaching me. I know you are going out of your way to do this, so sorry if I get riled up easy."
And there it was, the one big reason Astarion was so willing to teach Olive. Despite their differences, and frankly, their antagonism towards each other, Olive never fell short in showing appreciation for Astarion each and every time he pushed her limits. No matter how critical Astarion was or how much Astarion expected from her, Olive took it all and still made sure to let him know how grateful she was. Her tenacity and drive to learn from him, despite her misgivings about him, it was enough for Astarion to give her a chance. And, even if he didn't want to admit it, it was nice for once to have someone in his tent without having to play up the flirtation. Doesn't mean he won't flirt time to time.
"If you wanted to rile me up, all you have to do is ask, darling," Astarion grinned. Olive sighed, exasperated, and gave him a playful punch.
"For once, could you give me a normal compliment?" Olive complained. Astarion gave her a knowing look. "If I were to compliment you, I rather it be with our bodies intertwine, clothes thrown on the floor."
Olive put her face in her hands and groaned irritably. The soft look and smile Astarion gave her went unnoticed by her and Astarion himself.

What do you reckon the timeline is for Sing 2? like, how many days do you think it takes place over?
Oh man this is a PERFECT question for someone who likes analysing tiny details like me!! Thank you!! Of course, I mainly used the Klaus/Johnny scenes the gauge the time passed…
The film starts with a performance at the theatre, and we see Buster trying to sleep later that night. That same night he rallies everyone together to get a bus to Redshore. The bus scene only transitions once from night to day, so we can assume it took them a good 6+ hours to get into Redshore. They arrive in Redshore the following morning, so that’s 1 day already just for travel.
Once in Redshore they immediately get involved with Jimmy Crystal. He gives them a deadline of three weeks to complete the show, but here’s where the timeline gets iffy. I’m pretty sure everything goes to shit before those three weeks are up. We then cut to the next morning because Buster opens with “Good morning” and claims Steve stayed up all night making the pop-up book plan for the show.
So that’s 2 days so far.
Later on we see Norman and the piglets arrive and it’s night time, and when we see Miss Crawly driving to Clay’s it’s daylight. So 3 days.
It’s night when Miss Crawly returns, but then in the immediate scene we have Johnny in Klaus’ class. We can see daylight through the windows and Johnny says he “was practicing all morning”, so it’s daytime. 4 days in.
Johnny spends all day in Klaus’ class, because when we see his panic attack, it’s night time. It then cuts to the next morning when he’s repaired his skateboard and meets Nooshy. 5 days.
He’s with Nooshy all day, and it’s evening/night time when he has a private dance practice with her. The following scenes involving Meena and Clay and Buster are during the day, so that’s 6 days now.
Once Buster leaves Clay, the rest of the film takes place all the way up to the same night, when Out of This World is performed. Then the time gets really inconsistent. It’s night time when they are performing, because we see Jimmy rushing to the theatre in his limo during the night. It seems to still be night when he’s arrested too. But it’s morning as the group leaves Redshore? So were they putting this show on at like 4am?? How did they fill a theatre of random animals wandering around at 4am lmao. That part doesn’t really make sense. Unless there was a huge time gap between Jimmy getting arrested and the group getting on the bus. But it takes us up to 7 days. Then we see them at the Majestic, but it’s probably a time skip as I doubt it’s that same day. We have no way of knowing how many days it takes for the Majestic show to happen.
So the film takes place over at least 7 days. It could be more if they did time skips, but that’s just based on what we see. So in a week, Buster manages to:
- Get his entire group to travel to another city
- Score a show
- Plan the entire show from scratch
- Locate Clay Calloway, who has apparently been impossible to find until then according to Ash
- I guess mad kudos to the stage hands who manage to make all these props and costumes in less than a week. Klaus had to choreograph the whole show in a few days; no wonder he’s so angry lol
- There’s a bit of a plot hole with how Marcus and gang got there so quick. We see him take Johnny’s phone call from his garage, which is in Calatonia. But we also see it takes a long ass time to get from Calatonia to Redshore, so I’m not sure how the gorillas got there in like… an hour max? I guess Marcus could speed the whole way there but it still seems a bit of a stretch. Honestly after watching this again and paying attention to the times, it feels like Illumination were making sure to be consistent right up until the final show, and then they just went with whatever.
TL;DR - 7 days from start of the film to leaving Redshore. Impossible to tell when the final show at the Majestic takes place.
Thank for the nice ask, good anon 🥹💖
