More Amity as Lilith's Child AU questions. (I think about this a normal amount) Sorry for bombarding with so many questions.
What last name is Amity using? I presume Clawthorne instead of Blight given her real parentage is meant to be a secret. If so I can imagine the Belos situation being even worse given who she has superficial similarities to.
Given Amity is over at The Owl House more as a kid what's her view on Hooty like? Does Lilith end up befriending him earlier as well?
At St Epiderm does Amity have any friends there? Does she still end up going there after moving into The Owl House (St Epiderm is expensive and money was pretty right after everything went down)and if not does she end up missing those friends?
You said Amity knew she was adopted, how much does she know about her birth family? How does the reunion with the twins go?
How does Amity react to finding out the truth about Lilith cursing Eda and then sharing the curse?
Of course a Lumity based question now. When does Amity begin to start catching feelings in this AU and how does that end up once she moves into The Owl House for season two? (Much blushing I presume)
Tumblr media
Lilith (begrudgingly) tolerates Hooty up until S2. I mean, he DID beat her up multiple times (given it was out of self defense.) So ya know
As for her last name, she is indeed using Clawthorne! Which did piss off Belos quite a bit. He knows about Amity's real parents though, and looms that over Lilith's head whenever he wants something done.
And yes, she eventually does transfer to Hexside:).
Her St. Epiderm life is pretty boring, she has ONE friend. Hexside was much better for her social skills.
Her reunion with the twins happen in Labyrinth runners! She eventually introduces herself as their presumed dead sister and Edric and Emira smile and just go "We know. We we're waiting for you to tell us yourself." Bc, c'mon. They're not stupid enough to not notice how similar she looked to Odalia and Alador. As far as she's concerned, she isn't really sure if she actually wants to KNOW about Alador and Odalia, because she knows Lilith and Darius always talked bad about them.
There was moment, when she was 6, where she met up with Odalia (without Odalia knowing who she was.) And she came back running to Lilith and asking if she would take her back because she doesn't like her real family. Lilith's heart breaks for her.
As for the curse? Well, Lilith and Amity's relationship SEVERELY deteriorated after S1, which only made Amity feel worse bc she already had a fallout with Hunter.
And finally, she catches feelings early on while pretending to be rivals! Luz actually asked her to be her (totally platonic) partner for Grom since she was chosen as Grom Queen, and Amity ends up saving her, which ultimately led to her accepting her feelings. Luz starts to reciprocate soon afterwards, since they started sharing the same space.

The Collector(The Owl House) and Platonic! Reader...
but with a small detail.
Reader has a complicated family life, she comes from a family where she is constantly neglected (either due to family problems or simply her parents are like the Blights, too focused on their reputations to give her adequate attention) and that makes her a very dependent girl of her imagination but also quite lonely.
I think it would be especially sad if we are talking about a Blight Reader. since she sees her sibilings having interactions and friends while she cannot join because she is smaller and has problems socializing (': adding to that that she is too young for Odalia to give her a decent "use" to give her attention and Alador...it's Alador.
Imagine that JUST WHEN IT LOOKS LIKE THE END OF THE WORLD is when Reader ends up having something like a "friend."
If we go with the Blight reader, it is much more obvious how the reader and The Collector met, Odalia serving as his "mom" WOULD HAVE THE NERVE to offer the reader as a better playmate (trying to have favoritism) and leaves the reader reader alone with this child with god-like powers.
Now, reader didn't expect the collector to be so...innocent, he acted like a child her age, MAXIMUN. Besides that he was really interested in the game ideas she had to offer. For this reader to hear that someone is even willing to listen to what she wants to say is a MIRACLE, but putting it into practice and encouraging it? is this a dream?
They are both children extremely deprived of touch and interaction for a long time, so surprisingly, the reader ended up really enjoying her stay in the Archives with the collector and King, whether playing "the owl house" all together, board games that the reader invention, flying on the little flying stars, etc.
The reader definitely had a change of look just like King and Odalia, with a star-studded outfit and everything, although I think the collector lets her personalize it. and he definitely won't let Odalia intervene in the reader's clothes, with the excuse that her "suggestions" are too boring.
Tea parties with puppets! Yes, it's a bit creepy, but hey, they're better off there than down there with Belos (after what the reader secretly heard from her sister, he sounds like a bad guy). apart from the fact that low gravity is fun.
I think that one of the games that they could play the most could be a slightly more extreme version of "rescue the princess" where either a reader or a puppet is the "damsel in distress", King is the great Dragon and the Collector/reader are the knights. Don't worry though! Even if reader is who has to be the lady in distress, she will not be in real danger.
Although if the reader gets hurt (whether from playing or simply due to clumsiness) it means a DAY FREE FROM GAMES for everyone. Although they also play doctor and take care of the reader, maybe they play board games to avoid getting bored.
The Collector definitely feels jealous when Odalia tries to talk to the reader for any reason (probably to have a better position), and sometimes that causes him to give her more work like arranging the puppets they use when they play The Owl House (ironically this could make Odalia see what a bad mother she is being when she sees that a mini space god is better at her job than her).
Now there is no limit to the reader's creativity, no matter how silly or strange the idea for the new game is, he wants to hear it! He always has something positive to get out of even the "worst" ideas (for him that doesn't exist).
Sometimes he has trouble understanding which reader has to sleep and rest more than him and King, but they explain it to him with apples and pears and he more or less understands the concept of three meals a day and 8 hours of sleep (that was how easy it was, how difficult it was for King to explain to TWO CHILDREN why the reader SHOULD NOT eat only sweets).
I imagine that the reader sleeps in the same "room" as the Collector and King, in an extra bed and her own accessories. Maybe the reader even has stuffed animals of abominations (that remind her a little of her family) that she lends time to time to Collie (did you think she wouldn't use that nickname? ha) sometimes keeps them for herself because she's nostalgic, other times she's detached or even angry and gives them to him for several nights.
I can definitely see the Collector being pretty angry at the Blight siblings if he had gotten to know them in a different context, like "how dare you make my best friend CRY?" and it would definitely require a lot of hard work from King and the reader together so that he wouldn't "break" them out of rage.
King knows there's not much point in trying to convince the reader to help him in his plan against the collector, he understands where she's coming from, having someone who takes her seriously and motivates her is a dream come true! It is thanks to this that he sees the Collector more as a sad child and not as someone so terrifying..
After "Raine" lies to the Collector about King wanting to hurt him, he most likely also becomes clingier with the reader (and slightly more protective).
I can even see the reader teaming up with him when they play their "favorite games" against Eda, Luz and King, even if they coordinate well they can't help but lose in one way or another😅
The reader definitely empathizes a lot with the collector when he tells his story and how his brothers simply put him aside, causing him to be imprisoned, but she also begins to reflect and realize that, well, not everything is a game, but she wants them to be friends.
After the events of the season finale, you can be sure that the reader's family is trying SO hard to make up for the damage done (especially Amity and Alador) and that they are not so sure how to feel about the baby of the house being lost. she made friends with an almost god😅
Collie, now being PAINFULLY aware of the reader's mortality, is much gentler with the games when he comes to visit (especially because, well, you know, getting hurt when you're little isn't the same as when you're big) and in general they grow up. together to learn to accept more friends whenever they are:'3
AHHGGG I NEEDED THIS. Maybe I'll do a version with a father/mother! reader, we'll see.

do you have favourite ships for the owl house?
*edit a little because I forgot a small explanation. 12/10/23)
I enjoy pretty much everyone but I really enjoy Darius and Alador. There really so little we know about them as individuals so its fun to imagine what they be like. But I think they fit so well together and they will make each other happy. With most characters I'm already satisfied because they are already together and are happy ever after. With these two, they are mysterious individuals and the ship is only semi implied. I know you don't need to be with someone to be happy and yadda yadda yadda, but I think most people are saps for people coupling. I am also more interested in the potential of a relationship then when one is actually established. I love the slow build ups and such.
Darius for the most part would pair well with any adult/ HagSquad character including the poly pairings. Except I don't see him being with Eda alone in a relationship, so him being a poly with Raeda.I don't want to break up a canon relationship (Raeda) either. We don't know much about Perry but I imagine they get along really well. The same goes with Camila. Lilith is out as its canon she a big nope on these things. I know the fanbase have mix feelings about Alador but I'm huge Darius and Alador as a couple.
Some people say the time skip and that near kiss was random but it wasn't. There was small clues that Darius always cared about Alador the entire time.
First clue is the name hack. Darius as far I can tell, only give little pet names to characters he fond of but delivered in a almost condescending way. I believe he trying to remain distance from the people he cared for. He worked in the castle where everyone was cutthroat and backstabbing. He does not want his 'weakness' be shown or used against him. So he refers to his love ones with derogatory names to appear uncaring towards them. Alador: Hack Eberwolf: Mutt Hunter: Little prince Raine: Songbird Eda: The Owl Beast....okay thats not really a nickname but it is a title he can refer to.
The other clues is him muting Alador on pentagram, instead of deleting. As much of a front Darius gives about "loathing" Alador he still follows him and and silently checks up on Alador by the updates. If he truly didn't give a damn about Alador, he would have simply deleted him. Out of sight, out of mind. I have to rewatch to conform but I think Darius only muted Alador to keep himself from commenting a snarky reply (an act from Darius to insure Alador safety. He can't have anyone think he likes him, he NEEDS to have people think he hates Alador so Alador is not placed in danger or used against him, especially so close to the DoU). Darius may suspect Belos starting to have suspicions at his point as Raine, a covenhead, has already turned against him. Darius can sense Belos scrutiny on all his Covenheads since then and Darius can not fail. So Darius refrain from his usual cattiness of replies and opted to remain silent. It was safer to ignore Alador then put on an act that the Emperor might see though as he scrutinize his Covenheads.
I know there was another clue but for the life of me I can not think of it at this moment.
I agree with the fanbase, Darius could do better then Alador, but Darius is absolutely what Alador needs in a partner. Darius would make a great partner to anyone. You know this man will treat anyone so well, respected and be patient. He the type that would treat himself to something and would make damn sure he gotten two to share with his partner. I want Alador to be alone for while (aside from kids). We know he been with Odalia right off the bat, so Alador never been on his own before. It was under his parent rule then straight to Odalias. He needs to figure out to be on his own two feet and rediscover who he is and what he wants while making his OWN decisions. Which I'm positive he'll struggle with but its something he needs. You know this man is struggling (beside emotionally) with everyday adulting. He never had to focus on paying paying bills as it was always been handle by anyone but him. He probably forgotten about bills until the lights were turned off and it left his scratching his head until his one of kids point to the mountain of unopened mail, mostly past due bills.
I was happy with the time skip that Alador is at least alone and trying. I was not thrilled of the vacant expression with Darius he had in the time skip which made me pause. I really wish they made Alador smile instead of staring blankly. But I have my own little headcanons to explain to satisfy my wishfulness. First of all, I do think Alador needs a hit on the head and things spelled out to him when it comes to feelings, particular feelings of love directed at him.
The second part is, I think Alador was brought on a compulsory heterosexauality. (I know that term is used mostly for lesbians) I know this is a huge stretch as the Boiling Isle so open on identity and sexuality. But I have a feeling Alador life has always been strict. He was brought up similar to his children or stictor which is why he puts up little fight or arguments as his opinions are generally valued lowly. Sheer exhaustion his a huge part of that as well. I been overworked for a solid month every year to the point of just not caring. I know what its like. You want to care but you had so little time yourself, so little in fact that you don't even have enough time to sleep and eat. It affects your mental state. You are trying to care and listen but you already running on fumes and barely functioning as is so you just become barely aware outside from what's needed for work, numb and your focus is very limited.
But going back to point, Aldor may been brought up as compulsory heterosexauality. He was made to think hes straight or didn't have a choice while he was young before he had any sexual awakenings and never really question it. I'm fairly certain his marriage is arranged, so there was no point on exploring that part of himself when he was already been promised to someone. Remember how being a pre teen and teen that emotions were wild and confusing? Now, imagine that and being Alador who was more then likely told to suppress his emotions to uphold a Blight image and appearences. I don't think he would have much emotional intelligence, especially as a boy. So if he did, had feelings for the same gender, he probably would come up some weird explanation to himself that particular fondness, isn't what it is and come up with some excuse to himself what it could be and just ignore it. So in that near kiss, Alador brain short circuited and gears started to move. He was processing his possibly new sexuality that maybe he isn't only straight? It was his gay/Bi awakening. Not only that, he processing the thought he can indulge in that exploration now. That's my take on that scene anyways for me to have Darius and Alador to happen.
I need it to happen because I know they would make each other happy. They are so opposite in so many ways but strangely complementary, like a yin yang. Alador needs someone like Darius. Darius will still take charge which Alador prefers and actually needs. Alador is too lax so he needs to be lead around and have someone set up some type of disciplined lifestyle. Unlike Odaila, Darius will asked Alador opinions or thoughts and listen and consider them in decision making instead of bossing and ordering Alador around. Hell, just the simple act of Darius listening to Alador is something Alador needed. We all saw Alador trying to bring up hesitantly the subject of having second thoughts and reconsidering the deal with Belos before Odalia responded with threat. I take that and assumed most discussions are similar when he talks to Odalia. Darius will make Alador feel heard which is something he hasn't felt often since being best friends with Darius at school. Darius will also make sure Alador is taking care of. Including him in self care days. Alador reluctantly enjoys them, and enjoy them more as they slowly become routined.
*Side note* I know people think Alador had a lot more say in things and is more 'equal' with Odalia because he managed to talk Odalia to keeping her deal with Amity. I think otherwise. I believe he mostly unaware when it came to his children. But he tried to help out when he can without making it worse or when he not being threatened or blackmailed. It was clear that Odalia in charge and threatens Alador into submission. Yes Odalia listen to Alado in Escaping Expulsion but I think Alador had an opportunity to help his children and seized it by choosing his words carefully. He spoke exactly in a way that Odalia would respond positively to and goals she striving for. "She getting stronger....maybe strong enough to be a covenhead someday..." and left her with that thought. It was something Odalia wanted and he used it to have her back down.
Now, I know most people are thinking...why Darius, a near perfect man who probably can have anyone, because even a straight man cant deny all of that, would be interested in Alador. I understand, because I think it too. I have a few headcanons on that.
First of all, I think Darius is Demisexual. His color scheme are nearly ace colors and his first outfit even had diamond shape on it. I know the outfit doesn't mean anything. It not like everyone walks around with their pride colors as their everyday wear. But someone as fine as Darius, did not appear to have much interest in relationships except for that time skip. So if Darius is Demi and Alador being one of the strongest bonds he had made in his lifetime may stir deeper feelings.
Darius also hadn't made many deep connections since his school days and Eber (brotherly affection). The last one being the previous Golden Guard, which I believe he had feelings for. We know that ended in tragedy. Darius knew it was suspicious death that more than likely spun his question Belos and started a rebellion. But the previous Golden Guard death also made Darius become strict with keeping a distance with people (Part of which is a broken heart) while not showing who he cares for. So he not allowing himself to bond with anyone therefore keeping him from forming an interested in anyone. So, this may have cause him to have lingering thoughts and get stuck on Alador from time to time when longing for a connection. Since Alador is the strongest bond he felt and had an attraction to beside the previous golden guard.
Headcanon time, I think Darius was considered an ugly duckling and untalented as a little boy. It was later Hexside years he became skilled and was fortunate that puberty was kind. The ugly duckling may have spun his interest in fashion and focus on looking good. Alador befriended Darius during his ugly duckling years and always stuck by him and always so genuine. So when Darius started to get peoples interested when he became...I was going to say swan but that man a peacock! It felt superficial and hollow which really made it difficult for Darius to bond in that way.
As much as Darius puts up a front of being a selfish uncaring person, he isn't. He probably the most caring person in the show that hes forced to hide. He also a natural caretaker. It's just who he is. How can he turn a blind eye on his old flame Alador who overwhelmed post emperor reign when Darius no longer has to hide his 'weaknesses'. Darius can lend an ear or shoulder. Note: Darius always had underlying feelings for Alador but I wouldn't say he was crushing on him right away after the emperor defeat. It was built back up as the rekindle their friendship. The rekindle was a stiff and a bit bitter at first. Both trying work past their issues to work together with the common goal of the sigil removal. But despite any past grievance from their fallout and the years that followed, they did miss each other company and soon they quickly fell back to the familiarity of their younger years.
Darius is smart, he may not be an expert and recite text books from memory on a lot of things (like Hunter and Alador) but he very intelligent that spread across many subject. He just may not know the exact details or formulas but he gets the gist of things. So I think he finds talking to Alador intellectual stimulating. I have no doubt that Alador reads on complicated subjects (mostly theroized) and has the memory to well, memorized what he read. He typically has no one to share what he finds fascinating. When he tries to share it goes over most people's head or he really has to dumb it down and still people only understand half what he discussing. People are usually not that interested what he wants to share. He finds it so refreshing that he doesn't have to dumb it down for Darius, if he did its rare and only because its super niche or very complicated details. Darius seem to comprehend what being discussed and to Alador delight, seem interest and asked questions. Its stimulating to both of them.
I also think Alador sees the world differently which is a refreshing change of pace for Darius. I have a suspicion that despite Darius scheduling his me time and treating himself, he kept really busy schedule. Alador mellow and go with the flow, so being with Alador, he would end up stopping to smell the flowers or realistically, looking at the colors of the butterfly. Basically, Alador would literally and figuratively lead Darius down an unbeaten path unintentionally as Alador absentmindedly chased a butterfly and have Darius appreciate the small things in life. For example, I have this scenario stuck in my head. When they were little boys, *cue pokemon random encounter music* a wild Boiling Isle bug appeared! Now Darius first instinct is to be disgusted and try to squash the creature out of existence. Alador throw himself between them to protect the little critter. Darius would question why he wouldn't let him get rid of the disgusting thing. Alador, who probably cradling the things fondly like it was a baby would explain it isn't disgusting but beautiful. Then recite all the interesting facts on why the creature so amazing, and its potential. Which convenience Darius to see it in a different light. I think that dynamic happens rather often. I think Darius would be appreciative at the change of perspective.
They still have a minor rivery that they both will poke at each other in a form to egg them on to do something. Which they will because they now have to prove to the other why whether they are rivery-ing on is better. They bicker a lot but its friendly, it almost flirting. Something is wrong if one of them didn't playfully insult, tease or joke about something the other interested in. I also imagine Alador doing small innocent harmless pranks on Darius which Darius would have some type of playful payback revenge later. It so familiar to when they were boys that it keeps them both young as they laugh. The relationship has the comfort of familiarity while having the excitement of being new. I wish them all the happiness!
I completely rambled but I think that's expected at this point.

Amity’s Protection
Tumblr media
So here's the thing with Amity.
She puts everything on her shoulders. Everything. This is something she’s learned from her parents, from the way they used to treat her - and still do, to a point - it’s something that’s she’s had to do since she was a little kid in order to make a name for herself in her own home. She wasn’t as good as her siblings - who are two years older than her, mind you - and that was a problem, and it was her problem, and so she started to deal with it. She wasn’t listening enough, or her siblings weren’t listening enough, and she was given a necklace to ensure that she could never stray far from Odalia’s voice. She wasn’t hanging out with the right people, and she had to fix that.
Odalia and Alador threaten her, put the situation entirely on Amity, and tell her that Willow’s application to Hexside is completely in Amity’s hands  (a move that is even WORSE when you realize that both of Willow’s dads went to other schools - clearly they’re hoping Willow will have a better time at Hexside than they did in their respective institutions) Willow is Amity’s best friend; they must have talked about what they’ll do when they get into Hexside. Amity knows how excited Willow would have been, and her parents say they can stop that from happening.
Willow wouldn’t be able to get into Hexside. And even if Amity was willing to let that happen and Willow was okay with that (which wouldn’t happen), Odalia (and Alador) wouldn’t have just backed down and let the matter drop. There was nothing Amity could’ve done in this moment that would have resulted in anything better.
And Amity puts everything on her own shoulders.
Tumblr media
In the scene where they essentially “break up” their friendship, Amity clearly has no idea what she’s doing. She’s confused, obviously, and she’s upset, because this is her best friend, and she has no idea what to say, and ultimately, it’s Willow who gives her the fuel she’s grasping for. She latches onto the first thing Willow says, which is her lack of talent with magic, and yes, it’s cruel, and I’m not trying to pretend it’s not, but it’s also so deeply sad for both of them.
Tumblr media
So of COURSE she’s freaking out about the idea of Willow getting hurt while she’s around. She’s not “reverting back to her former self,” like some people have suggested, it’s the opposite; this episode sees Amity actually showing more of her true self than Willow’s ever seen.
Thing is, Amity’s been living her life without any real friends ever since Willow left her house that fateful night. She’s been around Boscha more than anyone, and while I’m sure Boscha’s got her own issues to work through, she and Amity clearly just fuel each other’s fires - and not in a good way.
My point is this: Amity has no idea how to be a friend, especially how to be a friend to someone she’s hurt so deeply before. She’s a dumbass. She assumes things and runs with that assumption - runs with the idea that she’s supposed to do everything in an attempt to make up with that person--Willow, in this instance. It’s why she was so desperate in Eclipse Lake, too, she feels like she has to be the perfect everything, perfect friend in this circumstance, and while that desperation has improved over time, interacting with Willow probably stresses her out more than a lot of things, so that mentality returns when she’s nervous.
It’s not that she’s thinking Willow’s weak, it’s that she’s trying to deal with her own guilt for not protecting Willow better before. It’s still not great, of course, but there’s clearly no malice in how she’s acting, the problem stems from Amity’s mindset being “Protect Willow” and therefore making her unable to comprehend that Willow both wants and is perfectly capable of taking care of herself.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Willow gets fed up with this - understandably so - and the line “I want you to see who I really am” is very telling, I think. Willow wants to reconnect too - if she didn’t, she wouldn’t have put up with Amity’s flapping - and she wants to build a new relationship with Amity, but that would be impossible if Amity doesn’t see her.
In order to reconnect, Amity has to look past her own perceptions and see what Willow is saying.
And she does....
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And that’s all Willow needed.
Willow wants to reconnect, and so does Amity, and now they’re on the same page, for perhaps the first time ever. They’re capable of working together, of fighting together, and I mean, come on, just look at them. They’ve worked out the majority of their issues (even if it’ll never be the same as it was, which is okay) and they’re only the stronger for it. They’re already forces to be reckoned with on their own, and together...?
Philip had better watch out.

Episodes
I'm not 100% happy with these episodes, so don't be surprised if I change some things. BTW, the episodes are not in order and the titles are not the actual episode titles, just keywords.(Excuse my non-existent writing skills)
20-25min Episodes
Episode 1 (Third Wheel)
Introduction to the main character Darius and his goals, problems, family and friends. One of the problems is that his best friend Alador and Odalia start ignoring him and excluding him. Raine wants to find a solution by searching for new friends. They end up taking part in a school play where they soon meet their new friends.
Episode 2 (School Play)
So Darius and Raine participate in the school play, but while Darius keeps complaining about the script, Raine has to fight their stage fright as Eda has become ill and cannot comfort them during the school play. Nonetheless, they have to team up with the two new students Adrian and Hettie. Hettie seems really open to making new friends, but Adrian is very skeptical about the two as he has a passion for acting, he would be very mad if someone screwed up his performance...
Episode 3 (School Trip)
Days later, Darius bumps into Adrian and Hettie again during a school trip. They decide to go for a walk and talk about recent events when they come across a cave that Hettie wants to check out. Even though it's dangerous, they go inside and explore. In the cave, they noticed an egg all alone with no parents nearby. They ignore it and don’t think much about it, but when they found out that this was a Slitherbeast's cave, they just want out as quick as possible. Darius didn't want the egg to get eaten, so he tries to save it, which leads to Adrian and Hettie getting captured by the beast. Meanwhile, Raine and Eda are just talking when Eda mentions a witch who also goes to potions class.
Episode ? (Top Student)
Darius wants to be the best in the abomination class, but that's not so easy when you have a rival in class. His new friends help him train for an upcoming test and become the top student.
Episode ? (Grudgby Match)
Arguing over who should keep the egg, they decide to make it a challenge. Whichever team wins can decide who takes care of it.
Episode ? (Research)
Searching in the library for infos about Eber, they can't seem to get any clues as to what the egg might be. As the six split up to find more information, Vitimir finds a mysterious man who may knows something about what they are looking for.
Episode ? (Call for Help)
Darius introduces a special person to the his five friends, the Golden Guard. Maybe he knows more about this topic, but even someone as almighty as she is needs help sometimes.
Episode ? (HECK)
When Adrian got sent to the Helping Enhance Coven Knowhow he wants to prove he’s way better than everyone else. But as an illusionist and with his old bullies following him, it’s hard to get that attention.
Episode ? (Vitimir’s Past)
Curious as to why Vitimir always speaks badly of himself and never talks about his family they meet Vitimir's sister. As she tells the kids the tragic story of the past, it begins to make sense.
Episode ? (Disguise)
Vitimir wants to spend time with his sister, but his adoptive parents don't even allow him to be near her. Adrian disguises himself as Vitimir so he can enjoy the days with his sister without fearing that his parents are looking for him.
Episode ? (Flyer Derby)
Mason want his parents to see that he’s also good at something like his cousin Harvey but nothing seems to work. His friends suggest to participate in a Flyer Derby tournament. What he doesn't know is that his cousin is also participating and is many steps ahead of him.
Episode ? (Backstory)
Terra tells Adrian about her school days while Osran also tells Vitimir about his school days. It seems that the two stories have a connection.
Episode ? (Cure)

Amity's Fate (Escaping Expulsion)
Found family stories are fun, aren't they? They have become a dime a dozen in recent years, and I think that that's a good thing.
Family comes in varying forms, and The Owl House explores that as a core tenet. Lilith is surrounded by the theme. Belos and The Golden Guard feature it as a secondary characteristic. Luz can't escape the theme. Even Kikimora's arc deals with it.
Odalia is the main antagonist for this idea. It's her entire deal. And the way in which she acts as that familial final boss is fascinating to me.
Let me explain.
SPOILERS AHEAD (The Owl House, Rise of the Guardians, One Piece, Critical Role: Campaign 1)
Tumblr media
What makes someone "important"?
In fiction, this is rather easy to tell. A character is important if they have a significant effect on the plot, and this is usually rewarded with time in the spotlight. Most often, the most important character in the plot is the one the reader will see the most. Obviously, there are exceptions, but this is a general rule.
But in terms of real life, what exactly is it that makes someone important? And how do you define "important"?
Tumblr media
You could argue that inventors hold this title, or entrepreneurs, or politicians, as they define the overarching structure of your world. But I would say that my friends and family have more of an influence on my personal daily life. They are the ones who have made me into who I am today.
Maybe the most important person to you is your significant other, or a teacher, or someone random on a bus who accidentally reshaped your entire worldview six years ago.
Tumblr media
Importance of plot and importance in reality are two different things, and my take on Odalia is a weird twist on that. Odalia is important to the plot because she is completely unimportant to Amity.
The arcs surrounding Odalia, those of her children and husband, revolve around them realising that they have better parts of their lives than her. Amity, for example, spends a decent chunk of the series learning that she doesn't need Odalia in her life and that Luz and co. are a much bigger influence on her than her mother's teachings.
Essentially, Odalia is only important because people think she is. Once they realise, she fades from relevance. I think that's a really cool writing decision.
Tumblr media
When Odalia and Alastor were introduced, back in Understanding Willow, the choice was made to obscure their character designs to silhouettes because who these people were wasn't important, and the episode focused on what they had done.
But now, the audience is treated to their full appearances, and I'd like to take that apart.
Tumblr media
Alastor is a mess. He hasn't been bothered to get into formal attire for a business meeting, either because he doesn't own a suit or because he doesn't care. Judging by the fact he lives in a mansion, I am inclined to believe the latter. He is covered in stains from his research and wears a set of goggles to lean into the professorial atmosphere. Combine that with the unkempt hair and his design is drawing heavy inspiration from Victor Frankenstein, something I will come back to in detail in a later post.
Odalia is Amity's final evolution. Everything about her is Amity taken to the extreme. She has the same nail polish, earrings (although her earrings change between shots), and hair colour, but the hair is more tidy. Her outfit is also more regal and more purple. She is what Amity will become; a path laid out for her. It is almost as if she has sculpted Amity in her image.
Odalia's design also reminds me a lot of Mrs Tweedy from Chicken Run for reasons I cannot articulate.
Tumblr media
Upon looking at Amity and her parents, it is obvious that Amity and her mother are related, but Alador seems like the odd one out, right? Except for two things.
Amity's hair is her means of expression in the story. When she dyes it different colours, it is an outward manifestation of her internal development. When it is left to its own devices, she has naturally brownish red hair, similar but not exactly the same as Alador.
Tumblr media
Amity is her own person who bears a ton of similarity to her father figure. But someone, most likely herself at the behest of Odalia, has made a concerted effort to cover that up.
The other element of Amity's design that links to her father's is something nobody can cover up. Amity has her father's eyes.
Tumblr media
Rise of the Guardians is an egregiously underrated film that I love. It deals purpose and finding joy, but its pivotal scene is relevant to the discussion of Amity and Alador.
"You have big eyes." "Yes! Big eyes, very big, because they are full of wonder That is my centre. It is what I was born with: eyes that have always seen the wonder in everything! Eyes that see lights in the trees, and magic in the air - this wonder is what I put into the world!... It is my centre. What is yours?"
Tumblr media
Santa Claus in Rise of The Guardians is a character who relies imagination and creativity, and there is a difference in the film between born gifts and who a person chooses to be. Santa was born seeing the world differently, and he used that to create and preserve that imagination in others.
Amity and Alador both see the world in the same way. They both look at the world and see what could be. They are intelligent, but less in the restrictive, linear ideal of "being a good student", they are more inventors, and Odalia has taken that intelligence and confined it.
That, is where the final element of Odalia and Alador's character designs comes into play, their expressions.
Tumblr media
Alador looks tired all of the time. He isn't happy at all in this episode, and he only smiles twice. His entire demeanor tells you that he doesn't want to be wherever he is.
Odalia, however, alternates between arrogant superiority and scheming gremlin, and that reveals her personality as much as her actions. Odalia believes herself superior to others and is having fun with that confidence.
Tumblr media
Amity is presented with both of these parental figures as options for her to develop into. The series is offering a good and a bad option, but then it does something clever and takes another rout. Amity becomes her own person, informed by her father, but unique in her own way.
To my point of Odalia's practical irrelevance, it's notable that all of Odalia's influence on her daughter is impermanent. It's her clothing, hairstyle, and expression, all of which Amity drops like a stone when she starts to achieve her autonomy.
Speaking of autonomy, this episode actually has stuff happening in it.
Tumblr media
Starting with a side note. Gus barely reacts to the threat of execution and looks more horrified by being expelled. Everyone else in this scene looks and sounds equally upset by both, with the exception of Amity's relief at the second option. But Gus doesn't make a noise and just looks surprised by incoming death, as if it's a class he doesn't particularly want to go to, but has no choice in the matter. Does that concern anyone else?
Tumblr media
I want to point out that Amity doesn't ever look afraid of her mother. She reacts to the execution gaff similarly to everyone except Gus, but to everything else, she just looks sad. This isn't a physically abusive relationship, but an emotionally abusive one. Amity spends the entirety of this episode feeling trapped.
Tumblr media
"Luz, was it? Please, this isn't personal. I actually appreciate your tenacity. We're just trying to teach our daughter a valuable lesson in business."
Once again, this is the end result that Odalia has set out for Amity, complete uncaring ambition.
Now, I am not skilled in the art of business, I know that one line from A Muppets Christmas Carrol and that's about it. But I think Luz's response to Odalia is pretty neat.
"How does this teach anything? We're still gonna be friends with her. I'm calling applesauce on this business baloney!"
I do have to thank the writers of The Owl House for making Luz's dialect so incomprehensibly Luz, because it makes navigating the transcript (link) so much easier.
Tumblr media
Anyway, as Luz points out, Odalia is just petty here. She is seeking revenge against her daughter for messing up her business promotion and is leveraging her unrivaled power to do so. She's not as uncaring as she thinks, and to her credit, she realises this in the moment.
But, Odalia is still cruel and entitled, being self aware doesn't diminish her villainy, and so she offers Amity' position to Luz. She has a mould, and she doesn't particularly care who fills it, just that it is filled. Odalia is another villain in this series who represents that theme of constraint.
Tumblr media
Luz's dialect is actually important in this scene, because it positions her as a thematic opposite to Odalia. Luz doesn't care about the rules of "polite conversation" and will say whatever nonsense comes to her head if it gets the point across. Luz is free in her verbal expression, and Odalia restricts that of her family to barely a word.
However, Luz doesn't confront Odalia on a thematic level. The themes of the story are expressed through Luz's sheer presence, but in this situation, she isn't actively trying to prove the superiority of her worldview. Instead, she applies more of a Monkey D. Luffy approach.
Tumblr media
For those who haven't read One Piece, Monkey D. Luffy (Third from the left) is a character who wants to be the freest man in the world. His antagonist is the World Government, who is restrictive and oppressive, and Luffy exists to oppose abuse of authority and injustice.
Luffy doesn't actively do this. He doesn't really care about the theming of his own story, it just happens around him. Repeatedly in the series, most notably in Enies Lobby and Arlong Park, Luffy declares comes into conflict with villainous powers who thematically oppose him. But, he doesn't confront them because of that theme, but because they hurt his friends.
Tumblr media
Luz does the same thing across The Owl House, taking on Belos and Lilith in season one because she doesn't like how they treat Eda, and taking on Odalia here because she doesn't like how she treats Amity.
If you look closely, she actually does it twice in this very episode.
"Luz, you don't have to do that." "Yes, I do. Willow and Gus don't deserve this."
Luz gives in and takes up Odalia's offer to protect her friends, not because Odalia is nebulously villainous.
Tumblr media
Back to Amity, she doesn't get as many actual lines in this episode as usual, but she is very much present in every scene she shows up in. From the silence, to the expressions, to the frustrated growling at every hinderance. Her worlds are colliding, and she can't keep everything under control.
This hits a breaking point with the confrontation.
Tumblr media
"No, you're gonna listen to me for once. Luz, Willow and Gus are my friends! They're nice to each other, they listen to each other. They make me think about the kind of person I really want to be!"
Let's talk about Taryon Darrington.
Tumblr media
Critical Role is a D&D live play that is currently in its third campaign. Halfway through the first campaign, the audience and players were introduced to the character of Taryon Darington, an artificer and human disaster in the most positive of ways.
I genuinely love Taryon, and have an entire post in the works dedicated to him and his significance for TTRPG culture as a whole, so I won't dwell too much here. Suffice to say this: Taryon's parental situation is similar to Amity's, in that his father viewed all of the Darington estate as means to an end, without the care and affection necessary to actually raise a family. When Taryon confronted him, he gave a speech remarkably similar to Amity's in Escaping Expulsion.
"In my year of travel, I didn't just dilly-dally around the world having fun. I was learning about the world and about life and about family. I was learning from these fine people what it means to really be a family, and care about each other. I learned from Grog and Vax what it means to be a man, and to be a father. I learned from Pike what it means to be a caring mother. I learned from Keyleth what a real sister is like, one who loves you and cares for you. I learned from Vex what a best friend is like. These are things you never gave us, growing up. I even learned from Percival, the type of man I would want to marry one day."
This is a speech of separation. It says officially that Howaardt (Taryon's father) has no bearing on his actions, and that Taryon will go about his life without a care for the foolishness of his father's actions. It is claiming autonomy, and it is pointing out that Howaardt was only important to Taryon because he told him so, in reality, the connection was minimal.
Tumblr media
Amity's little speech is the same. She is proclaiming that she doesn't need Odalia's fake affection and conditional acceptance. She wants to be around her friends, as they make her into a better person. Amity is more influenced by the actions of those she surrounds herself with than her mother.
Most of all, Amity is influenced by Luz and the example she sets. Light, do not faulter.
That's some good found family storytelling, right there.
Tumblr media
Final Thoughts
Odalia and Amity's story will continue until the end of the series, but it really ends with season two's penultimate episode, which I will get to.
I wanted to do a whole thing on how purple is associated with wealth because of sea snails (its more complicated than that), but I couldn't figure out a way of putting it in the post and relating it to the abominations and Amity's hair dye later on in the series.
I didn't talk about Eda and Lilith discovering more nuanced glyph magic, and that's because... I don't like the writing in those scenes. This episode is really good overall, but the dialogue in Lilith and Eda's scenes doesn't sit right with me, it feels too simple, like it's trying too hard to be turned into memes. But that's just my opinion.
Next week, I am looking at Echoes of the Past, so stick around if that interests you.

have you heard of alador x darius and what are your thoughts on them
aladarius is such an interesting pair! i’m honestly such a fan of them both. i’m planning on making this a two part (maybe even three part) series—this will focus on what they were like at hexside before they fell out. ALSO I LITERALLY FORGOT THAT THE FINALE CAME OUT YESTERDAY-
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
i absolutely have to bring up the fact that they were very close during their time in hexside.
however, i'd like to think that alador and darius knew of the other even earlier on. their parents knew each other through the boiling isles social circles, coming from considerable wealth. the blight family does have a mansion and darius just oozes high-class. they're the same age, so they're forced to make conversation at parties for some semblance of entertainment.
what a surprise it is when darius walks into abominations 101, his first day at hexside, and sees alador already dozing off on his desk the corner. it's weird seeing him in uniform because he's only come to recognize the blight boy dressed to the nines. they could only hold conversation for a minute, yet he feels the need to wake him up.
"aren't you supposed to be at glandus right about now?" alador opens one of his eyes, scaring the living daylights out of darius. darius doesn't let his face betray his assumed confidence. "aren't you supposed to be asleep right about now?" "answer me first." "that was rhetorical anyways."
long story short, the deamonnes managed to get kicked off of the glandus pta. they took it as an affront to their family's name and pulled darius out. hexside seemed decent enough; it was either that or enroll in st. epiderm and be confined to high-class fraternization.
alador thinks that's absolutely hilarious, outright admitting approval of his deliquency to darius' face. darius remains appalled by the witch, even when alador “adopts” him from that point onwards.
he tells him the best shortcuts for traversing the hallways and what food to avoid in the cafeteria. they eat lunch at the very end of the long tables. darius usually pours over a book in the silence of alador people-watching through the windows.
alador loves messing around with darius during class. darius takes learning way too seriously—he needs to have some fun with it. he doodles on all of darius’ papers, usually smilies and stick figures in darius’ likeness. there isn’t a single paper without an “alador was here” scrawled onto it. alador makes funny faces when the teacher isn’t looking to get a laugh out of him. he likes seeing him smile, even if it comes with a scoff.
darius studies with alador at the blight mansion when he doesn't want to go home to his parents—nothing exciting happens back at his house. there’s not a lot of studying that happens on alador’s part, but when darius falls in love with the old weathered books in his library, he spends their time together reading.
it’s only then that darius realizes that studying by rereading passages and textbooks doesn’t click for alador. when asked, alador says that they’ve never worked. darius is curious as to why he would go back to it now, however, they try to find better study methods. darius knows that alador is smart; he just needs an outlet that’ll retain his attention.
turns out that alador is more of a doer. darius turns to to debating as a form of active recall. they’re fine with fighting over books and the true intentions of authors, but fighting over small things is much better. apple blood or ghoul ade? they’ll never truly know.
however, they stand at their very best when they are paired together. group projects become a breeze and they’ve aced every test that’s came their way. at this point, they share the title of top student.
they seem like the type to have a long and complicated secret handshake. not to publicly flaunt it, though. it’s only for their eyes to witness.
sometimes they trek out to the bonesbourough playground after school, on the swings until the street lamps light up. darius summons an abomination one time and it pushes him so hard that he goes all the way around. they burst into shambles laughing and it becomes a battle to see who can go around the most times. darius holds the top score of 3.
speaking of battles, darius is there the day that alador wins the bonesborough brawl. alador has competed in it for years, but it’s only when darius is out there supporting him that he finds the will to pour his heart out into success.
“you won!” alador is met with darius’ cheers. the music pumping in celebration of his victory seems to drown everyone else out. “you did it!” alador rolls his eyes, indulging in a hug. “couldn’t have done it without you here.” “yeah, yeah,” he smiles. darius suddenly breaks their embrace, and punches him in the chest. “what was that for?” “you could’ve gotten yourself killed! i don’t know what you were thinking.”
they’ve got their whole lives planned out already. darius and alador have vowed to join the abomination coven together when it comes time. they’ll take over the boiling isles later on. these idiotic geniuses are too much for the world to handle, so they’re sticking together for their own good.

what if i were to share some of my lukewarm alador blight headcanons
his parents were both high-ups in their coven with his father being a former abomination coven head and his mother being a prominent potioneer.
i definitely think his parents (more so his father) disproved of his merging of abominations and machinery, even at an early age. he saw it as a way a crutch for his “half-a-witch son” to use to pass by with subpar creations.
anyways, despite this, alador did well in and enjoyed his abominations classes. he liked the relative flexibility with the forms.
he and odalia were friends from an early age in the way that amity and boscha were. the blights and odalia’s families had close ties through wealth and status and wanted to keep any friends within that ring. anyone that wasn’t was subject to intense scrutiny for high academic achievement. anyone who couldn’t meet any criteria was unacceptable.
i am one of those people who don’t think odalia was as bad as a child. still vindictive and cruel but lacking most bite. again, akin to boscha, but perhaps a bit more tolerable. she had an image to uphold, and having two of the brightest witches in her year as friends was a key part.
he and darius were also very early friends. like attached at the hip and wouldn’t do anything without the other friends. they met at school and alador was the one to introduce him to his (1) other friend.
i think alador may have been like the only one keeping their friend group together. i don’t think he took too much notice of the tension between odalia and darius. either that or it was just easier to ignore it. neither was blowing anything up, so why should he point it out?
alador’s been a disaster bi from the start, crushing on both of his friends because of their power and intellect and their physiques.
he was casually dating darius through their early teens and went to grom with him on more than one occasion.
despite this, his parents convinced him odalia was the better match for the long run. after all, they knew best and she was stable.
he broke things off with darius around their senior year without giving much of an explanation. he was already uncomfortable with communicating his emotions and he thought maybe darius wouldn’t be upset and maybe they could still be friends like nothing happened.
yeah, no, he was wrong.
so, he turned to odalia.
i think that she was the one to give him the idea to monetize his creations, seeing them as the perfect weapons. i also think that they were business partners before they were romantic partners. they started the first iteration of blight industries the year they graduated.
in this starting stage where things were still modest, he was grateful for odalia’s know-how; her marketing strategies; her financial literacy. he was happy to just tinker while innovating the field of abominations in ways that his family couldn’t have expected.
they marry for tax benefits. that’s it. unless you want to subscribe to the hc that they got married to hide the twins’ pregnancy. which is another thought.
either way, i think they both were casual throughout their initial business partnership. very friends with benefits, if that. it was easier to not have so many emotions to muddle through. if there were any real feelings of love in the relationship it was early on and mostly coming from alador.
the wedding was large. it was a way to flex the families’ wealth.
alador absolutely considered reaching out to ask darius to be his best man, but even he recognized it was a bad idea. they hadn’t had a real conversation for years and all their interactions at coven meetings had been frosty at best. still, he invited him to the wedding.
it turns out time does not heal all wounds.

Why Hunter shouldn't be adopted by everyone
I know everyone wants to give Hunter all the parent figures and have him be adopted by as many stable adults as possible but that's actually not good for Hunter's mental health. Hunter's already a traumatized kid, one of the last thing he needs is adults fighting over him (which he will not find endearing and actually be stressed the fuck out) or having to constantly move from house to house because of a split custody arrangement.
What Hunter needs is ONE stable home that he can fall back on, he needs stability.
And I think Darius is going to be that one person, why?
Eda is good with kids but she already has two kids of her own (and a security system that always wants attention) not only is the Owl House chaotic but Eda would be splitting her time up with three traumatized children. Hunter needs help and a lot of it but being the oldest kid in the household, his needs might have to be put on the backburner for say, King's needs. Not to mention I think Hunter would be looking for a paternal figure as paternal affection is what he's strived for all his life.
Raine is a pretty good option but they will probably get married to Eda and live in a very chaotic household, at least there will be two adults to take care of three kids but still, Owl House is pretty chaotic, Hunter needs less chaos in his life, not more.
Camila, another good option for a stable home but if Hunter goes to live with her she'll have 3 kids she needs to deal with and it's pretty clear she can barely handle giving one the attention and care they need. (not that she's a bad parent, she isn't but maybe it's best not to have a super traumatized kid that needs a LOT of attention with someone who's already struggling to give enough attention to the kids she already has.)
Alador, he's definitely getting better at being a parent but first he needs to repair relationships with his own kids before even thinking of taking another kid in
Darius definitely needs to make up for his prior behavior with Hunter still but being a man with no kids means that he will be able to provide Hunter with the attention he needs whenever he needs it. He also has already developed a relationship with Hunter so if Hunter moves in with him he won't have to necessarily start from scratch. Hunter seems to clear deeply for Darius and vice versa. Darius can provide Hunter with a stable and calm environment that Hunter so desperately needs. He can give him the paternal affection Hunter has craved all his life.
Gilbert and Harvey park, they seem like a great family but keep in mind that if the park family adopts Hunter that means Hunter would be Willows adopted older brother... The show seems to be going in the direction of huntlow being end game so... Yeah... Awkward.
Perry Porter, yeah I don't know enough of this guy to comment but it does seem that Gus and Hunter already have a brother like relationship which is good.
Bat Queen, contrary to what other fans think, I have my doubts on Bat Queen being happy to see Hunter... Remember it took a while for Owlbert to get Bat Queen to agree on letting him go with Luz because of an accident, keep in mind Bat Queen was already in debt to Eda for babysitting her children yet still wouldn't let Owlbert go home because her apprentice accidentally got Owlbert hurt, what would Bat Queen's reaction be to the kid that sent countless Palismen to their death (or tried at least)
If Darius does take in Hunter, I really hope Darius doesn't get in a relationship for a while or at least get married (specifically to Alador) . Hunter needs some time in a quiet peaceful place before all of a sudden gaining 3 siblings. We also run into the problem similar to Owl House where Hunter might not get enough attention.
Hopefully Hunter does not get into a romantic relationships for a while either. Romance is work and a whole bunch of drama.
Bump, he's pretty good guardian fit for Hunter but his method of dealing with rebellious teenagers leave something to be desired... Also I think he's done with troubled kids after having Eda as a student. Have my doubts that he wants to actively live with a troubled kid 24/7.
TLDR: Hunter needs one place to call home, not to have to constantly move house every week because of a custody agreement. Out of all the potential guardians, Darius has the best resources to deal with Hunter and his needs because he has no kids (that we know of) already knows Hunter and Hunter seems to already care deeply for Darius.
Instead of thinking about who cares and could be a good parent to Hunter, think about who could provide the best environment for Hunter and his needs, and what that environment entails.

I think the biggest issues I had with the Owl House series were centered around two specific characters:
Tumblr media
Alador and Hunter
One character’s story wasn’t as great as it could’ve been and the other character’s story was more great than it needed to be.
I’ll break it down separately:
(Once again as always with these negative posts before choosing to read know that these are my own personal thoughts and feelings on the show and don’t speak on the behalf of the Owl House community or its creators. If you have any negative feelings towards what you read I sincerely apologize and know it wasn’t meant as an attack or slander to you on a personal level. That being said feel free to comment what you like, I just ask you please keep it as mature, calm and civil as possible) That being said on to the post:
Alador! The Head Blight of the prestige Blight family household. Praised as a brilliant Abomination user and inventor. His work has earned him not only fortune and wealth, but reputation and respect.
With all of these facts in mind, how was his story UNBELIEVABLY underwhelming?
Tumblr media
From the moment he was “debuted” we can already feel the power radiating off of him. You could hear it in his tone, his word was LAW and his ambitions focused and clear. He was the rule maker in the family. Plain and simple. He decided what his family does or doesn’t do.
He sounded like the type of man that wouldn’t even do what Belos would tell him to do.
The type of man and individual that Belos would want to keep close to him at all times. Which is why it PAINS me to this day that Alador wasn’t a Head Coven Witch.
Him and Odalia! Think about it.
The Blights were a BIG DEAL in season 1. Amity was looked upon and praised as the most important witchling on the isles because she was a Blight. She had expectations and special treatments because she was a Blight. Because she was also born with talents and skills of a Blight.
Tumblr media
I mean come on! How does a “common” family be able to afford and provide Amity the Head of the EMPEROR’s FREAKIN COVEN as her personal mentor?! THE HEAD! Lilith was the right hand FIST of the Emperor. The Darth freakin Vader! And the Blights were able to get Lilith to teach their daughter!
A daughter that wasn’t part of the emperors coven yet. Still in school. That is incredible. Amity got to be Lilith’s student-
RAVEN MOM! YES!
(I am so sorry… I’m still recovering from that ending hug, please excuse me) ANYWAY
Tumblr media
With such special treatments and fame around Amity wouldn’t it had made sense for her parents to be higher up the food chain than what they were in the actual show?
Alador and Odalia should’ve BOTH been Head Witch’s. One for Abomination and the other Oracle. Being the only witches in history to be of the same family but both climb to Head Witch status.
This storyline not only would’ve been more interesting but it would’ve saved sooo much more time.
Think about it, we have two Head witches we know NOTHING about because there simply wasn’t any room for them.
Alador and Odalia being head witches would’ve given our heroes a reason to interact with them and given more depth to Amity’s story. Something she DESPERATELY needed. Her being ANOTHER character who’s story wasn’t as great as it could’ve been.
And I mean we don’t have to make him the abusive controlling parent. Just stubborn and neglectful.
Odalia is the still the abusive controlling one. But Alador is in full control of it. Allowing it, as long as it makes his kids stronger for it.
Alador would’ve made an amazing villain. A complex villain. Someone that was a HUGE threat to our heroes but could easily turn around and do the right thing whenever he felt like it.
Alador could’ve at some point choice to protect his family rather than do what the Emperor wanted him to do. It wouldn’t make him forgiven, but more respected and seen as an ally instead of an enemy.
Alador’s story, it was nice, but we ALL know it could’ve been a thousand times better.
Tumblr media
HUNTER! The Golden Guard… The personal guard of the Emperor of the Isles. Of all witch and demon kind. …this guy had an aura of power around him since the day we met him… literally…
Tumblr media
When we first saw him in season 1 we were ALL convinced he was going to be this top tier spy/villain. But instead we got… well, a child in a mask.
Before I go any further I feel the need to say I freakin love Hunter. He’s a sweetheart. A badass. And overall amazing character that I’m happy they brought onto the show.
HOWEVER. His story was way “more” than it needed to be. Way more complex. Way more deep and involved. I’m happy we have him, I’m just bitter of how much of him we GOT.
I love his (original) origin story. A powerless witch with no powers since the day he was born. That could’ve been taken in so many directions.
First off it would’ve thrown us off the “spy” scenario. I REALLY wanted a spy to infiltrate the Owl family and sabotage them.
Tumblr media
Hunter being introduced as the new kid at hexside. Everyone picking on him because he’s a “no witch” orphan, from a long line of “no witches”. His being the ONLY witch family on the Boiling Isles with no powers. Luz also having no powers and Willow being the “half a witch” sympathize and befriend him. Just like he planned.
Willow developing feelings for him overtime and Hunter conflicted starts feeling the same towards her. Which would make his reveal all the more heartbreaking and devastating.
Tumblr media
Amity, being the ONLY one suspecious of him, investigates him. Causing a rift and tension from an already shaky bond with Willow, and problems between her and even Luz, when she tries to warn them about her suspicions.
Amity eventually figuring out who Hunter truly is and “betraying” the group by joining the Emperors coven and being a spy of her own. Hunter giving her early access to the coven in hopes of keeping her quiet. But really she’s only in it to protect her friends from him. Going as far as to pretend she hated her friends for not believing her.
A moment of redemption for Lilith as well when she tries to get her former student out of there by begging Amity not to make the same mistakes she did.
All leading to amazing fight scenes between the group.
I’m talking Amity vs Willow, Luz vs Amity, and then eventually:
Luz and Amity vs The Golden Guard
Tumblr media
That would’ve been an AMAZING fight! Hunter with his artificial magic staff, mask and all vs Lumity on the day of Unity! Around the same time Harpy Eda and Harpy Lilith were fighting Belos on top of the Isles head! It would’ve been beautiful. Romantic! Symbolic! A master piece! Everything going down under blood red skies…
Hunter not wanting hurt Willow or the new friends he made, and discovering Belos orphaned him by murdering his family (via information provided by Amity who found The Emperors journal while remaining a spy) betrays the Emperor and joins the group.
A quick and easy turn that keeps his character the same and makes Huntlow canon.
None of this Grimwalker/Caleb stuff. Caleb doesn’t even exist. Philip was the ONLY human to ever be on the isles before Luz. And Hunter is a descendent of him.
Philip wasn’t even evil. He just became evil by being corrupted and possessed by the spirit of an evil Titan. (No collector either)
Belos plan was to revive himself by transporting his remains to the human realm and combining the two suns.
Short and simple. Not overly complicated. Not overly dramatic. Simple and Clean that gives more time and development to characters that were already introduced in season 1.
That’s the BIGGEST issue I have with Hunter, his story took ALL the limited time we had on the show. All the time we could have had on Lilith’s redemption story and Amity’s development.
Amity’s story could’ve had WAY MORE DEPTH if Hunter’s story was cut in half.
His story did NOT need to be as big or as deep or as complex than it needed to be.
Tumblr media
It’s actually unbelievable looking back at it now… these were the two I was most afraid of besides Belos :/

Chapter 13: Apologies and diatribes
"You said that you will stop at nothing to get us back into Hexside!" Luz chastised the oracle
"I know what I said, Luz!" Selena shot back
"No trick too rotten or underhanded!" She repeated back at her, determined "That's what you said!"
"Yes, yes I know, but-"
"Are you giving up on us? Giving up on our education? Do you want Willow and Gus to stay grounded forever, and my path to becoming a witch to die ?" Luz gasped, offended "Is that what you want, Selena?"
"ALRIGHT!" Selena yelled out, obviously displeased. "Alright, I'll do it, I'll try… your way, but I am going to hate every second of it!"
The human grinned from ear to ear, satisfied to have finally won her over to her side "We're all reasonable people, and Odalia seemed interested in finding common ground when I talked to her before! Aaaand, if talking it out with the Blights doesn't work, then I am more than happy to let you take the reins."
Huffing and puffing, Selena crossed her arms in defeat, clearly not happy with this outcome, and thought back how it came to this, with her and Luz standing outside of the Blight manor, the human convincing her to "take the peaceful route first" and accept the invitation to talk it out and find a compromise. All it would have taken was one call to Gran Isabella. It would have been so easy. It would have driven fear into Odalia's bones. But no, Luz wanted to fix this civilly.
Willow and Gus, the two witches who were expelled alongside Luz, were taken away by crow phone sent by their respective parents as soon as word reached them the two had gotten expelled. Selena tried standing up for them, but they were dragged away so fast, she could barely get a word in over the yelling, angered parents. It left Luz devastated, and Selena feeling just awful.
The next blow came in the form of Amity Blight (who Luz seemed very fond of, Selena noted while she watched Luz get on one knee and take the girl's hand into hers), Odalia and Alador's youngest. And this made Selena's blood boil , watching the girl beg Luz not to confront her mother, fear and resignation in every word she spoke. Afraid of her own mother. She knew Odalia was a sorry excuse for a person, but an awful parent as well?!
"It's an honour to meet you, Miss Fortuna." The young Blight curtsied after Selena introduced herself, in a tone of voice that was trained, rehearsed "Will you be attending the sale this Saturday? I know mother always sends out VIP invitations to the Fortuna residence."
Which, yes, indeed, they have been, for years now, but most end up being kindle in gran Isabella's fireplace. Goodness, Amity had such a professional, business facade. Odalia must have worked very hard to make this girl into her carbon copy. To the point of dying her hair the same as hers - she saw the same warm brown roots growing out, a perfect match to her father.
And speaking of her father…that hurt most of all, really. Selena knew Odalia was a huge, raging bitch , but she thought so much better of Alador. Her memory of him that she upheld so high for years, the whimsical, quirky witch who would listen to her babble on about the stupidest little things when everyone else would have grown tired of her, taking her interests seriously when most would write her off as just a child, who wouldn't force her out of the room when hanging out with his brother, it started breaking. She even got over him marrying Odalia in the first place, thinking that he must have seen something good in her that others couldn't.
But if he was letting his own kid be treated this way, to the point she was stunned by fear at the thought of confronting her mother…
Anger flaring up again, Selena drew a spell circle above her head, the glowing ring following after her hand as she brought it down and changing her clothes from the casual outfit she wore that morning to the more formal dress she most often chose for palace visits.
"Woah, I wish I could do that. Early mornings would be so much easier ." Luz stared in wonder whilst Selena patted out any wrinkles from the puffy skirt and sleeves, making sure it was flawless. "Why change, tho?"
"I'm not giving Odalia any ammo." Selena pulled a small handheld mirror out of her shoulder bag and checked her hair and makeup. Flawless. Good. No weakness, no imperfection, not in front of Blight. She knew how to latch on to any little detail and tear you to shreds. "Okay." She took in a deep breath "You can do this. Formal mode on, no weaknesses. If you can handle the Emperor, you can handle Odalia." She turned to Luz "Alright, let's go. We get in and get out as painlessly as possible."
Luz knocked on the door, and they were greeted by an abomination butler, groaning and moaning as a greeting. The abomabutler led them inside, through the gauche, overly decorated manor that Selena just barely remembered.
The Blights didn't have a history as long and as rich as the Fortunas. In comparison, they were pretty much considered young money , but as the Blights rose to prominence, the two families interacted more. So it wasn't rare for the three Fortuna siblings to be forced into play dates, whether it was at gran Isabella's or the Blight residence.
Sitrie was first who made it clear he wanted nothing to do with them. The most withdrawn of the three, his dislike of Odalia was no secret. He saw her as a shallow, power-chasing bully. Stella, ever so eager to keep mom and gran happy, tried her best, she really did. But there was only so much abuse she could take before she marched up to their mother, holding six-year old Selena by the hand, and telling her that she was not going to spend another second with that horrid girl ever again, and if she was forced to do so, she would get the giant mole rats to bury Odalia in the backyard.
Apparently, her breaking point was that Odalia called Selena a "stupid little brat", after Selena almost pushed a crystal ball off of a table by accident, so she grabbed her sister's hand and left without a word, walking the entire way home. Selena didn't remember much of that event, she only remembered how exciting it was to walk across the entire town without their parents supervision.
Ursula didn't force them to interact with the Blights after that, and a couple of years later she herself broke off all contact with them as well, around the time when father died. She broke off most contact with the Bonesborough upper crust around that time, so that came as no surprise. Ursula would tell them later on that after dad died, none of those stuck up rich people reached out with help and comfort she so desperately needed, and she wanted nothing to do with those folk anymore. Gran Isabella begged her to reconsider such drastic actions, to think of how such actions could affect the children, robbing them of opportunities, to which Ursula responded by giving her the silent treatment for three months.
Isabella broke first and apologised, never bringing it up again. Family, afterall, was more important than keeping up appearances with people who in the end, didn't care for them, but for their name and the reverence it held.
Selena stared at the portrait of the Blight family in the living room the butler lead them to. Odalia and Alador, standing over their children. She recognized Amity from before, frowning at the forlorn expression the girl held in the picture, but also there was a pair of older twins she hadn't met. Her older siblings, probably, a boy and a girl, around Hunter's age if she has to guess.
"That should have been me." Selena huffed under her breath, her glare burning a hole in the portrait, but in the silence of the mansion, Luz was able to pick up on it.
"What?"
"N-nothing!" She quickly replied, blushing when she realised she actually said something so embarrassing out loud.
Sitrie and Stella held more disdain for her from that era, she was too young to remember most of it. No, she built her intense dislike once Sitrie made friends with Alador and Darius, and Odalia came prepackaged with them. Always there, intruding even when she wasn't invited, with a holier-than-thou personality to match, Selena was quick to hate her. Especially after she developed her crushes on Alador and Darius. Especially when Odalia seemed to have taken notice of it.
Which, when she thought about it now with her fully adult brain, was pretty pathetic. She was in her late teens, bullying a thirteen year old. Didn't she have anything better to do? Perhaps it was some weird inferiority complex, as her family could never be close to the fame and wealth of the Fortunas.. So finding a weak link made her feel bigger, more important?
Not that it made any difference because in the end, she was still just a bully.
"I'm here to appeal to your heart's, Blights!"
The two let out squeaks of surprise at the abomination goop hitting the wall near where they entered the workshop.
"Oh don't mind him, dear, Alador is working on our new product for the presentation Saturday. Things tend to get messy." There was a pause from the Blight, seated so casually on a desk with a teacup in her hand, whilst Alador worked not too far from her, covered in said goop. "I see you brought a friend- wait." Her eyes zeroed in on Selena, widening in surprise.
"Odalia Blight, it's been too long." Selena let out with fake cheer, teeth clenched in a performative grin.
"My, my. Selena Fortuna." Odalia answered with a similar infliction of faux joy "Why, how unexpected! Alador! You'll never guess who the human dragged-" her husband running past her made her pause in shock, not expecting him to react as such "-in."
Selena had no time to greet him properly, as Alador was there in front of her in less than a blink, enveloping the girl in a hug and lifting her up, her feet leaving the ground "Little Lena!" The man exclaimed as he spun her around before placing her back on the ground again, bending at the knees 'till he was down to her height "Huh, you're taller than I remember. Heavier too." He put a hand on his chin as he observed her, yet somehow still managed to miss her aghast face when he called her heavier "Have you always worn those?" He reached out to inspect her glasses, only to flinch back when he heard Odalia call out for him.
"Alador!" She hissed, dropping the facade for just a moment. "You're making our guest uncomfortable, dear ."
Selena let out a breath of relief when he stepped back "Oh. Right." Alador cleared his throat "Ahem. How is your brother?" He asked, now more formal.
"He- he is fine, Alador. Him and Stella moved in with mom, they're at the summer cottage." She let out, a bit out of breath from being spun around like that "I don't think you picked me up like that since I was 12, I can't believe you still can!" A breathy laugh left her.
"A- hem ."
Oh, right. She was mad, that's right. Titan, Alador effortlessly tore down her defences and made her feel like a giddy kid again. She was mad at him, she was mad at Odalia. Alador was fast to return to his working station although now he was listening to the conversation more intently than before, and she recomposed herself, patting down any wrinkles from her skirt and shaking her hair back into place. "Right, excuse me." Clearing her throat, she gestured towards Luz, who watched the entire exchange with fascination "I am here to accompany young Luz, as a temporary adult guardian of sorts, to make sure her best interests are upheld." She lifted up her head
"Hum, I hadn't expected any company other than the human, I wish you'd have given me a heads up, I would have put out some hors d'oeuvres.." Odalia let out with a dramatic sigh "Very poor manners to show up unannounced, you know."
"Surely you don't assume a minor should come unaccompanied by an adult to discuss their future. Especially a foreign one, who doesn't know all the ins and outs of our world and rules!" Selena laughed haughtily "You're such a kidder, Odalia."
The woman tried to hide her blush - from embarrassment, or at being caught trying to manipulate a child - either brought Selena much joy "O-oh, no no, of course not, I just hadn't expected someone of… your stature to accompany our little Luz here."
"Whatever stature I enjoy from my family name is of little importance." Selena replied coolly. "Of course, unless you force my hand to make it of importance. Am I to assume correctly that young Luz has been expelled because of your influence in the PCA?"
She hated taking on such a formal tone and manner of speaking. It was drilled into her head young, having to learn the ins and outs of high society so she "wouldn't get eaten alive out there", according to Isabella. She had become quite rusty, avoiding mixing with the aristocracy's of the Isles as much as possible, but dealing with the Emperor for so long really brought it all back to the surface after years of not using it.
"I'm sure I don't know what you mean, dear. The PCA had concerns about the human and her friend's unruly behaviour being a distraction to other students." Odalia explained innocently.
"And this has nothing to do with your daughter being friends with them and you disapproving?" Selena shot back, respectfully of course.
Placing a hand to her chest, Odalia gasped "But of course not, my Amity is free to be friends with whoever she likes. Even the unruly kind. But when those friends prove to be endangering her education, well, as a mother I can't let that happen."
"Of course not." Selena replied "Because otherwise, you might come off as a bit hypocritical, and I know a woman of your stature would never do that!"
There was a beat of silence. Alador now fully stopped his work and turned around to watch, arms crossed.
" What are you implying?"
"Oh, simply that when you were Amity's age, your friend group had a… knack for getting themselves in trouble, if I remember correctly." Selena said cooly "And I think I do, because one of them happens to be my brother."
"Oh snap!" Luz couldn't help herself from piping up.
Odalia finally put down her teacup "Oh come now, Selena, they were never as bad as this ." She accused, hand pointing in Luz's general direction "They destroyed the detention room!"
"Alador set off an abomination bomb in Principal Faust's office!" At this, the mentioned man let out a little chuckle, and Odalia glanced at him in a disapproving manner "And there was of course the Locust Curse incident that left Hexside closed for two weeks. It was pure, dumb luck that Bump already came into his position by the time that happened, because you and I both know Faust would have had all four of you expelled and banned from every school on the Isles."
"She has a point, dear." Alador hummed from the back.
"I also remember your parents doing their best to scrub all of that from your record." The younger oracle hummed in thought "However, I do think my mom has copies of the school records mentioning all your names clear as day still saved up in a folder somewhere-"
Odalia held up a hand, silencing her “I see your point.” she let out in a huff “While there is truth to what you say, my hands are tied - I would love to help, dear, however I just have no time to spend on this issue. You see, we have a big presentation coming up this Saturday, and Amity usually helps us out. But she's been sooo busy with all the extra schoolwork." The woman sighed "I think you'll have to go talk to all the other members of the PCA, and it could take a long time to get around to all of them."
"I can do it." Luz cut in.
"What?!" Selena looked at her in disbelief.
"She said she wants to help." She explained her logic and turned to the older woman "That is what you said, right? That you do want to overturn the expulsion?"
"Oh, but of course. Selena here made such compelling arguments for you and your little friends." Odalia said, sickly sweet.
"Then I'll take Amity's place and help clear up your schedule." Luz offered with determination "If I do that, then you will go to Principal Bump and get Willow, Gus and me back into Hexside?"
"A-are you sure about this?" Selena stuttered, not liking this at all
"A-yup! You know I am!"
"Well, dear, that would be simply wonderful!" Odalia seemed very pleased "And such a perfect way for you to show me how responsible you really are. Very well then!" She got up from the desk she was sitting on top of and reached out a hand towards Luz "I think we have a deal here, don't you?" She gave Selena a satisfied look which she didn't like much.
She was plotting something, Selena just knew it. She agreed way too quickly - Odalia Blight was a woman set in her ways and her pride, no way just talking it out worked.
"It's a deal, Blight!" Luz shook her hand.
"Didn't you have a cute little motto, something along the lines of a Blight always keeps their promise?" Selena said cooly "I expect to hear that the kids will be back in school on Monday."
"Not to worry, if all goes well during our sale, I'll be on the crow phone with Bump immediately after, overturning the expulsion." Odalia clapped her hands together as she spoke to her "It is a deal and a promise."
Selena held out her hand, head held high "Should we make it an everlasting oath, Blight?"
"An everlasting oath ?" Odalia laughed haughtily "Come now, Selena, surely you do not have that little faith in me. I'm not going to cast such a ridiculous spell over a petty misunderstanding such as this."
"Petty?!" Selena withdrew her hand "This could potentially ruin the futures of three kids, I'd hardly label it as a petty misunderstanding!"
"Well my Amity's future is my priority. She has a bright future, you know."
"And what, Luz and her friends don't?"
"I never said that, dear."
"You don't have to say it when I can clearly see it from that grossly sticky aura seeping out of you in waves." Selena put a hand to her lips in mock regret "Oh, I'm sorry. You never could sense auras like I could, could you?" It was now her turn to laugh "Oh how silly of me, I always forget how mad you'd get whenever your parents compared you to me, haha!"
Tumblr media
"Selena-" Luz pulled on her sleeve, whispering in worried tones as she saw how Odalia's face twitched in barely restrained anger, jaw set as she gnashed her teeth together.
"Being young does make one worry about the silliest things, doesn't it?" She hissed, trying to recompose herself "But in the end, here I am, in a lovely manor, with a loving husband, successful kids and a booming business. What is it you do again, exactly?" Odalia put a hand to her cheek "Oh, right, you live in a dingy apartment above a dingy bakery, such a shame, really, everyone always talked about how your natural talent would get you places, and yet~ "
"Odalia." Alador interfered this time, frowning at his wife and her harsh words.
This was no good. Yes, she was miffed before, but now, Selena felt her body grow hot with anger. Her face felt like it was steaming, muscles tensing and going rigid, unconsciously preparing to snap at any moment if further provoked. She felt her hands shaking as she constrained herself from doing just that. Keep that anger in, keep your head cool.
Repeating the mantra did little to help when it was being drowned out in molten lava that was her temper.
She felt how her breathing started getting more erratic, tongue threatening to lash out as she debated what would hurt her most, what would make her hiss and spit like a wounded beast. Things she shouldn't say floating up, pride and anger filling her chest as her lips widened in a strained grin, words bubbling up and finally - escaping
"Oh, you mean the dingy bakery endorsed by the Emperor?" She hissed through barred teeth, cheeks aching from the fake smile she wore. The way Odalia's eyes widened made her almost manic with glee "He's such a sweet man with me, you know." She uncrossed her arms and cupped her cheeks, tilting her head like a lovestruck teen bubbling about her first crush "Such a delight to spend my first hours of the morning with him as he invites me to share tea together every time I deliver to him." She let out a giggle "I'm the only one allowed to deliver to him too, you know. Truly, it is an honour."
"Shame you'll never know how it feels to be praised by the most powerful witch of the Isles." Selena shrugged innocently, taking in every moment of Odalia quietly seething like it was sweet apple blood "Oh well. What can you do, am I right?"
Alador reacted first before his wife had a chance to retaliate, quickly walking towards Selena and Luz and grabbing the witch by the shoulders, turning her around and leading her out "Well I think we all had a good chat here today, don't you?" He continued leading her as he talked "We will keep our end of the deal, I'll make sure of it." He gave Odalia a look over his shoulder "I'll escort them out, dear."
"B-bye, Mrs Blight, I'll be there on Saturday!"
"Bye Odalia! Oh, and I love what you did with the place!" Selena smirked as she managed to get one last dig before Alador pushed her completely out the door “Very nouveau riche of you.”
As soon as the door closed behind them, Alador groaned, pressing his fingers to the bridge of his nose as a headache formed.
"What was that ?!" Luz pulled at her hair in shock "Yikes, sister, that's a lot of repressed anger in one room."
"She started it." Selena grumbled, all huffy, crossing her arms across her chest.
They were interrupted by Alador, who they honestly forgot even came out with them in the first place "Technically, you started it when you implied she was a hypocrite."
"Don't you start with me." Selena stood on her tippy toes to stare him down, but she still lacked an inch or so to be on his exact eye level "First of, I didn't imply it, I straight out called her one. Because she is one. And second!" She crossed her arms "She started it when she got the kids expelled."
"Touche." Alador shrugged, "That is, in fact, her starting it."
"I will be here on Saturday, as well." She informed the conjurer "To make sure Luz is safe. And to make sure our deal is upheld."
"Odalia sends Madam Isabella invitations to all our events, even as they remain ignored." Alador explained "It should extend to any Fortuna, if I remember correctly. But even without the invitation, I'll make sure your name is on the list."
"Thank you." Selena breathed out as they finally reached the main entrance "And Alador?" The man titled his head inquisitively, only to let out a little whine when she pinched his nose "Pay more attention to your kids, you dolt."
As they parted ways, the door closing behind them, only Luz and Selena remained.
"So." The human started "Your family is a real big deal, huh?"
"Ugh." Selena huffed "Yea, you can say that."
"Well?!"
"Well what?"
Luz's eyes sparkled with glee "Aren't you gonna tell me about your family of super powerful, super revered witches?!"
Selena snorted and ruffled the kids hair "Yea, no, it's stupid and boring. Ask Lilith, she likes to drivel on and on about that kind of stuff."
"Aw, come on, no fair!" Luz whined "Fine! Maybe I'll ask you about that enthusiastic speech you gave about Belos instead?" She gave the witch a smug little grin as she in return turned red as a blood apple.
"Th-th-that was nothing! It was a tactical decision to get under Odalia's skin!" She sputtered out "N-nothing more than that!"
"Nothing more?" Luz purred.
"Nothing more!"
~*~*~*~*~
Nothing more.
The door to the throne room looked much more intimidating today than they have been so far, as the dread of the actions she was about to do built up like wild kindling and threatening to burn like a forest fire.
For Luz. Do it for Luz.
Steve opened the doors for her, letting her step inside, back straight and head held high as she clung to the last bit of pride she had left, marching to the beat of the Titan's heart above his throne, upon which he sat, watching her. Following her. Stalking her.
She didn't trust Odalia Blight. So she'd use every dirty trick in her arsenal to make sure she held up her end of the deal, no matter how much it pained her. No matter the cost.
"Guards." She was the one to call out this time, just as she reached the bottom of the stairs. Belos straightened himself up in his seat, interested by the new behaviour she was exhibiting. "Would one of you be so kind as to take this up to the Emperor's chambers?" The guards anxiously shifted their eyes to the Emperor, awaiting his instructions, and Selena patiently waited, eyes never leaving him. As soon as he raised his arm, gesturing to obey her, the closest guard ran to the witch and wordlessly took the box of sweets from her.
Good. This was going better than expected. Selena let out a shaky breath, looking back up to the Emperor, up on his throne, and took the first step up towards him.
And another.
And another.
And all the way up, until she stood in front of him, like that first day.
For Luz .
Selena kneeled down, on one knee, keeping her head low, eyes affixed to the patterns of the clear, shiny marble floor.
"I am…sorry."
With bated breath, she waited for his response. The throne room was silent, except for the beating of the giant heart, pushing tremors deep into her gut with its low rumble. And the little murmurs she heard from the guards stationed in the throne room, who've been watching their passive aggressive dance for so long and taking bets on who will break first.
She heard Belos move, the throne creaking under his weight, and she resisted the urge to peek up at him. Instead, she tactfully looked at his reflection in the polished marble, where she saw him lean over in his seat, elbows placed on his knees, fingers interlaced and his chin resting on top.
"While that is fine and well, my dear little baker, I am afraid it is not enough." She saw the outline of his chin under the mask, but not much more. Saw how his jaw moved as he spoke. She shuddered at both the little peek she had of his face and at the words he spoke. "I want to hear you say exactly what you're sorry for."
Selena grit her teeth. She should have seen this coming. That pompous, arrogant, good-for-nothing-
"Come, come. I don't have all day." Belos hurried her along, his voice calm and condescending "Beg."
She shuddered and clenched the fist that was on the floor as balance. She hated how he said that. "I...apologise for my recent behaviour." She started slowly, licking her lips "For yelling at you and going against your word, going behind your back. I apologise for implying that you do not care for Hunter, and calling you cruel." She heard him hum in a gleeful way at her words and grit her teeth, her face burning with embarrassment.
But when he stayed silent, as if waiting for more, she continued "Please, Emperor Belos, I know I'm undeserving, but please I ask for your forgiveness for the way I have acted."
She stayed perfectly still and waited for his response. She had half-a-mind to yell at him to say something , anything , instead of letting his silence tear up her insides. But she kept her mouth shut - running her mouth had gotten her in this situation in the first place. The Emperor's chuckle felt like it was louder than even the beating titans heart above them, making her hair stand on its ends. Selena's breath hitched when his fingers snaked their way under her chin, tilting her head up and forcing her to face him.
"Now was that so hard?" Belos asked in a mocking tone, fingers now holding her jaw in a firmer grip to prevent her from moving "Was that so difficult?" When Selena averted her eyes, he gave her head a joustle "Ap-ap-ap, eyes on me, Lena . I want your full attention." He chided her, and she grit her teeth, focusing her attention back to him.
"There we go." Belos said in a sing-song voice, grip on her jaw loosening and moving to cradle her cheek "Good girl." He spoke, thumb grazing just under her eye, caressing the skin "I knew you'd come around from that little episode of yours."
Titan, how was it possible for him to be so incredibly condescending?! How had his body not combusted under all that smugness emitting from him?!
His hand slipped away from her face and he straightened out in his seat. Selena watched him as he got to his feet, careful as he circled around her so as to not accidentally step on her or her skirt, until he was completely out of view behind her.
"Come now, up to your feet."
Slowly, afraid that sudden movement could trigger the beast on the hunt behind her, she brought herself up, holding her arms close to her body in an attempt to make herself smaller, and stood up to her full height. The feeling of knowing he was behind her, towering over her, made it hard to breathe normally as anxiety bubbled under her skin. And it was only made worse when she felt his hand lay heavy on her shoulder, feeling like a bear trap. He leaned closer, his mask near her other shoulder, brushing against her hair and making her wish she was anywhere else than here. He was close, too close-
"I'm so glad we can finally put this behind us, Selena." The low hum of his voice directly in her ear made her feel faint. Selena closed her eyes instantly at the rush, wanting to block out everything else in order to be able to deal with the overwhelming presence so close to her. "I admit that I have…missed our little morning talks. They quickly grew near and dear to my heart, I'm happy that now they can finally continue."
Selena swallowed the lump in her throat "Would you-" her voice came out too high, so he cleared her throat and started again "Would you be so bold to say that…that you consider me a friend, then?"
He paused, thinking, and moved his head back, away from her. The hand on her shoulder moved up her neck, to her jaw, and he tilted her head back until he could see her face clearly, and she was once more staring into the void of his mask, barely making out the outline of his eyes. "Hmm." He let out, deep in thought, his middle finger tapping against her throat "Perhaps I do."
Okay. Perhaps she could somehow play this embarrassment in her favour afterall. Ignoring the moths coming to life in her belly at his platonic confession, Selena braced herself through her nerves and lifted up her hands, taking his into them and removing it from her neck so she could turn around to face him. Her skirt flew around her as she pivoted on one foot, holding his hand securely in her own, close to her chest. "Truly you do?" She asked as she looked up at him through her lashes, eyes wide and glimmering.
He seemed taken aback by the sudden change in attitude, taking way longer than he normally would to respond. She felt his fingers flex in her grasp, and saw how his chest and shoulders moved with a deep breath which he tried to keep silent "I would not say things that I do not truly mean." Belos muttered and Selena held his hand tighter.
Well. Now or never, she thought, doing her best to not show how nervous she was "So if I were caught in the middle of a predicament, you'd offer me your help, then?"
From how close they were, she could see his eyes widen slightly under the mask, before they crinkled in what she only could assume was a smile "That purely depends on the type of trouble you've gotten yourself into, my dear." He let out a short chuckle "You haven't gotten yourself into something dire whilst we weren't talking, have you?" He teased.
Selena let out a breath she hadn't been aware she was holding, her muscles relaxed and she smiled . An honest smile - his demeanour changed and his aura took on a completely different feel, comforting and fuzzy, it felt welcoming, it was so infectious that she felt at ease for the first time since their fight. "N-no, nothing like that. I just-" she let out a tsk through her teeth "-Titan, how should I put this?" She lowered her arms, making sure to still hold on to his hand with one of her own as she did. Physical contact, she had gathered from all the time she had known him, was a way he used a lot to communicate, to connect.
"I've made a deal with Odalia Blight, I'm sure you've heard of her." She explained, and Belos let out a little hum in affirmation "However, I've known this woman for a long time, and I have a very uneasy feeling in my gut that she may not keep her end of the deal."
"And let me guess, you want me to ensure she keeps her word?"
"Not necessarily, at least, I'm hoping I won't need you to." Selena was quick to defend "I do not know if she will go against our deal. So I am not asking anything of you as is." She explained "I would know by tomorrow evening if she honoured our agreement, so I do not want to accuse her of such a misdeed before it has happened."
"Hmm." Selena felt goosebumps rise along her arm, all the way to her shoulders and neck, as his thumb gently traced the back of her hand while he mulled over her words "May I ask what type of deal you've made?"
Selena looked to the side, nervous "It's- well, it may sound inconsequential to you, but apparently she is in the PCA and got some good kids unjustly expelled from Hexside." She chose her words carefully "One of them is a friend of mine, you see. And I pleaded her case with Odalia to overturn the expulsion."
"It is not inconsequential at all - afterall, education is very important. Now-" Belos said matter-of-factly and put his free hand to his mask where his chin would be, as if in thought "-perhaps the easiest route to take is for me to write a letter addressed to Blight."
"A letter?"
He nodded "Where I would…encourage her to follow up on her promise. I am certain she would take it to heart."
Selena let out a humourless chuckle "Oh, that is for certain."
"I would give it to you, and if she tries to fib, you can deliver it to her yourself." He continued
"And if she stays true to her word, there would be no need for that." Selena finished for him "I think that would be more than enough, Emperor." She brought his hand up once more, pressing his knuckles close to her cheek "Thank you, thank you so much!" She let out a little squeal.
Tumblr media
His hand turned in her hold so he could cradle her face, leaning a little lower to her as he spoke "Come tomorrow and I shall have it prepared for you."
"I'll come visit then, to pick it up." Selena nodded "And I will bring you the biggest most delicious cake as a gift for doing this for me, just you wait!" She paused, "But, ah…while I did decide to stop giving your nephew gifts, you will share with him, won't you?"
Belos tilted his head, hand falling away from her face "Is it truly that important to you?"
Selena pursed her lips, looking away "I just…food is meant to be shared. I won't go behind your back again, I promise I won't, but I would love it if you shared with him, too." She pleaded "He looks up to you so much, Emperor, I'm sure it would mean the world to him, more than any gift from me ever could." She gave him a somewhat smart-alec look "Besides, I'm sure you won't be able to finish the cake I have planned all by yourself, my Lord."
As if by magic, the mood lightened once more, and Belos let out a laugh "You underestimate my appetite, especially for the gifts you bring me." The way he purred made Selena's cheeks flush red, she felt the heat rise to them and felt mortified knowing it was probably very visible "However, as for your request. I will…consider it."
Nervously averting her eyes, she reached up to push a lock of hair behind her ear "Th-that's really more than enough, Emperor, thank you kindly for taking my words into account."
"Think nothing of it, Selena."
Selena smiled softly, and her mouth opened to respond without realising what words she was saying "I'm…really happy to be talking to you again, too, Emperor." It came out faster than she could have stopped herself, and it was so earnest of a confession that it took even Selena by surprise. She quickly raised a hand to her mouth, aghast at how naturally that came out, making her doubt herself, wondering if this really was just an act on her part. Working through the shock, she continued "If…it's alright for me to say so."
Below let out a hearty laugh "I'm glad to hear the feeling is mutual, Lena."
She had excused herself not too long after, having to use all self control not to run out of the throne room immediately like an embarrassed school girl. The throne room doors closed behind her, and she leaned against them, a hand raised to her forehead and she pressed the ball of her palm to it as Selena tried to wrap her head around her reactions.
"What…in the Titan's name was that ?" She muttered under her breath, a question she didn't know how to answer.
It was supposed to be a fully controlled act. That was all, nothing more. An apology offered and a favour asked, that was the plan. If anything could hurt Odalia's pride more than her grandmother chastising her, it was the Emperor chastising her, and when Selena weighed her options, she chose the option that would cause the most hurt. She knew it was spiteful and petty, but she could be spiteful and petty if she wanted to, as a treat . So when did the planned out act turn…surprisingly honest? Since when did she actually enjoy his company? Maybe it was just the warmth of his aura that seeped into her bones, feeling like the sun washing over her, that clouded her mind. Sure, she hadn't had issues with the auras, the emotions of others, influencing her judgement since she was still a kid, but it could have happened, right?
That had to be it. No way was she actually growing fond of him, that would only needlessly complicate things.
She separated herself from the doors and nodded her head, deciding it was just a fluke. It would not happen again, not if she could help it.
The Emperor was a man who knew how to crawl his way under your skin, and he was keen on doing so to her - she could not allow for that. No matter what.

I just saw your "Amity raised by Lilith AU" and now I really want to know more.
What's going on with the other Blights, if Lilith had to take Amity where are the twins?
What was Amity's life in the castle like? Did Lilith send her to Hexside and if so is she still friends with Willow?
What's Amity's relationship with Raine and Darius (and by extension Lilith's) like?
How about other people in the EC like Steve? Does Amity know Hunter and share Lilith's animosity with him and view him as a rival (queue "rival jealousy" from Luz) or are they friends?
Does Belos take advantage if Amity's presence in the castle to manipulate Lilith?
How does parenthood change Lilith and her view of Hunter?
Not a question but I also have this image if a tiny (4 or 5 yr old Amity) in a baby carrier thing on Lilith's chest when she goes to arrest Eda, and then Eda turning around to reveal King in a similar baby carrier on her chest. (Queue Spider-Man pointing name and mutual aunt realizations)
Haha, I get asked these a lot too, and I had a few tweets explaining is messily, but let's get this organized in the much better site, shall we?
• Amity was taken shortly after her birth. Prior to her arrival, Alador had already gotten sick of Odalia's mistreatment of him and in extension, the twins. He takes Amity away, pays a few healers to keep it a secret, and (with much hesitation) calls up Darius. He practically begs him to take Amity away from them, and even though Darius CLEARLY still doesn't like Alador, he just has a soft spot for kids. He takes Amity and Odalia is under the impression that Amity had died.
Now, remember, with this in mind, Odalia and the twins DON'T know her existence. If you ask me WHY Lilith ended up with Amity instead of with Darius, I'd tell you that Darius let her watch over her and she came back with adoption papers bc god forbid she has impulse control.
The twins are not aware of Amity's existence (at least until later) and neither is Odalia, but not for long. Alador is still trying to figure out how he can get himself and his two other children out without Odalia realizing. Lilith tries to keep it a secret. Amity's aware she's adopted though lol.
• Amity was practically raised in the castle. She learned to walk there 😭 Imagine a little Amity taking her first steps and the coven guards just cooing over her in the hallway. Like that. When she got older, she was allowed to go back to Darius' house alone (Lilith does not have a house and Darius is kind of like a guardian to her too, so...)
She personally prefers to stay in the castle though.
And no, Amity doesn't go to Hexside.
Tumblr media
She's in St. Epiderm! You have to understand, Odalia's part of the Student Creature Association in Hexside, and Lilith CANNOT risk having her find out about Amity. Raine had her enrolled in their old school so she doesn't accidentally come across Odalia. Willow DOES know about her, but thinks she's some spoiled girl who gets a bit too competitive. (They become friends later on!)
• Raine and Darius are her secondary guardians! Kind of like how Uncles and Aunties work. Darius doesn't hold any bitterness towards her for being Alador's child. If anything, it's making him want to rebel more because Amity and Hunter, who are just two children, are being forced into the castle by circumstances they can't control. He can't wait to take them both back home and give them a better life than what the castle has to offer.
He sees Amity as his little sunshine, though you couldn't pay him to admit that to ANYONE. That's his baby, he raised her too ❤️.
Raine was a bit late addition to the parent trio. Though they didn't hesitate to help out if needed. They usually were the one to watch over a hyperactive 4 year old Amity and an equally active 6 year old Hunter during their time as an apprentice to the Bard Covenhead. Amity also talked to Raine about Luz, who she was "feeling funny about" (she is falling so hard) and Raine was watching in amusement.
And y'know. Lilith is her mom. Lilith doesn't get much free time, but she's dedicated it to taking care of Amity as much as she can. Amity is her heart, she could absolutely not take the idea that she could get hurt. She's trying to give her all the attention and love she wished she had gotten from Gwendolyn.
• HUNTER HATRED?? NOOO...!
Do not even suggest such a thing!
Tumblr media
But in all seriousness, she grew up with him! Of course she doesn't hate him!
They see each other as siblings, though none of them have admitted it out loud. Hunter gets a bit sad when he sees Amity with Emira and Edric ("Her real family") and Amity was quick to get that thought off. He was her family too. The two of them are fairly close, both having grown up in the castle. On occasion, Amity sneaks him some snacks and books and stuff he can do on his free time whenever her was on shifts.
They had a MAJOR fallout by the end of season 1 (which I will not disclose yet), so you can imagine how absolutely rage-fueled their duel in Eclipse Lake was in this AU.
• And YES, HE DOES. Belos is a manipulative asshole we all know that. In addition, he does NOT like Amity. He took one look at her, with her brown hair, pointy ears and golden eyes and was reminded of a certain witch 400 years ago. It doesn't help that she likes to hang around with Hunter, either. Belos being haunted by the past because of two gay kids in his castle is so funny to me actually. He constantly holds Amity safety over Lilith's head because he knows how desperate she is to keep her daughter safe.
• And finally. Hunter and Lilith's relationship is much complicated in this AU. She realizes he's just as much of a child as Amity is. She doesn't really have this "animosity" towards him, especially since she takes care of him like Darius does (in secret).
-
So anyways! Don't be afraid to ask more, I like getting questions! And yes, Lilith does, in fact, bring baby Amity along when she goes on missions to capture Eda. Amity likes her Auntie Eda, goes over to the Owl House and plays with King if she can. Eda doesn't really mind her randomly popping up in her house lol.

So, here’s my two cents on Alador Blight for what it’s worth.
When he was introduced, I just couldn’t decide what to think. Yes, his seeming obliviousness and goofiness and how much delight he found something as simple as a butterfly made me want to like him.
But he was no help to his kids or their friends when Odalia, his wife was being… well, a bitch. He didn’t side with her, he just stood by. Was this apathy? Is he just such a workaholic he’s honestly oblivious to the family dynamics and how Odalia treats their children? Even if he genuinely WAS that busy it didn’t excuse what looked like him being neglectful.
Then the episode with that brawl aired, and we saw more of him. He obliviously just tried to make Amity stick to Odalia’s plans without hearing what she was trying to say or even turning away from his work for even a moment. Cue pity for Amity and relief that she at least had her big brother and sister there for her.
Then soon after he arrives at the brawl everything goes wrong. All while battling Amity, frustrated that he not only doesn’t listen but is keeping her out of the fight like she can’t defend herself or help out she finally lets it all out. And something amazing and heartening happened: Alador LISTENED. He immediately dropped Odalia’s plans in favor of being supportive and promising to do what he could where her mother was concerned.
But it’s acknowledged that that isn’t enough yet when she denies his attempt at a hug. And again, he listens. Maybe it kinda felt like a slap in the face that he’d failed Amity so much she shakes his hand instead of accepting his offer of a hug? Satisfying promise for the future, as far as I could see.
Then the latest episode aired. When he tried to speak up to Odalia she went for her brooch the same way she did when she was threatening Amity. I’m immediately worried, has she been abusing him all these years the way she has been Amity? What exactly is the magic she’s threatening to use on them?
When he’s finally seen away from Odalia this episode, he’s bearing his soul out to King, who is disguised as a guard. He says he hasn’t had a day off in FIVE YEARS. That’s horrible and I felt for him. Seems he hadn’t even been allowed a chance to even try to be a real father and that was half the parent issues in the Blight household to me. (The other half being Odalia is a manipulative, possibly abusive bitch.) And he desperately wants to be a real father to the kids, get to know them and work on making up for his past failings. I’m impressed, once Amity made him see there were issues he’d clearly thought thoroughly on how he can change things and be better.
Then King, who has been disguised as a guard the whole time, confirms that the suspicions Alador tried to voice to Odalia earlier about their business dealings with Belos were 100% spot on and worse than he realized. He tells Alador the truth about the day of unity.
He immediately goes to warn Odalia only to see her imprisoning their kids, his younger daughter’s girlfriend and their friends. And the bombshell drops: Odalia knew but was too power hungry to care. I don’t know if she realizes the draining spell would probably mean everyone dies INCLUDING her and I doubt it’d change anything for her.
When the fight is over and Odalia is gone he immediately tells the kid who seems to be Luz that she’s always welcome. All in all, he’s making progress and wants to change things for the better and I’m optimistic.
As a parent, Alador is worlds ahead of Odalia but still has work to do, knows it and is ready and willing to put in the effort needed to change and fix things. I’m satisfied, and think he has potential to be a wonderful father without Odalia and being overworked holding him down.
In the end, my main thoughts regarding Alador as a character is get this man divorce papers and a long, long vacation stat.

For the recently created universe Ask game
🌌 Galaxy - Rant to me.
Alright! Two topics come to mind to rant on, but I think I'm gonna stick to talking about Cellic, and how desperate and broken I made him. I'm not going to talk about how I fixed him again either, because that would be way too long. It's essay-length as it is.
Cellic is introduced as a compassionate person. A hard man, yes, but a compassionate one. His entire life up until the story starts has been filled with self-sacrifice. First his family, then his friends, and now his kingdom and Alador as a whole have come to rely on his strength and goodwill. He was slaving away to provide for his brothers even as a cripple, because he couldn't bring himself to rely on nearby families who had also fallen on tough times. He helped Maiph get through the sudden loss of her parents, and helped Randar's father get back on his feet after his son's murder shocked him out of drunkenness. He's stubborn as anything, and sometimes a real pain to get along with, but in the words of his king, Falder Faldarin, he's "a good man, inasmuch as those two words can be reconciled." He doesn't think of himself as having problems, but everything good and bad about him can be summed up in his two greatest desires: To be strong enough to protect those he loves and bring justice to a broken world. His selflessness is not the issue, but the manner in which he goes about it. He blindly assumes that if he were just stronger, he could make everything all right. You'll see why this matters in a moment, but Cellic is ernest and devoted to a fault.
And because I needed a plot, I took everything away from him. Everything. He lost both his parents, a sister, and an older brother figure as backstory, yes, but then he joins the Deathguard. And he makes friends, friends who think like him, friends with honor like his and fervor like his, and he watches them die, and the ones who don't die, he watches scream and writhe and burn with a searing pain that never ends as their blood is drained and used for profane rituals, and he feels the same, and even once they escape, he watches them die on the inside. They are all dangerously close to believing the words whispered by their captors: "mankind are monsters, nothing is sacrosanct, nothing is whole." And while acting as the anchor for people back home, he also has to be his compatriots' hold on reality. He reminds them about the ideals they fought for, and he is, outwardly, everything they want to be. Stalwart, and violently whole, even through horror and pain. And then Illenfold. One of his friends is betrayed by her own flesh and blood, who raises an army to selfishly claim what is rightfully hers. And still, Cellic stands, a bastion of justice, and peace, even as he wages war and spills blood.
At this point, I think every character in Cellic's "supporting cast profiles" but one, King Faldarin, has their hope in Cellic. Farric and Lettic hope in his justice to make the world a better place and to keep them safe, and they hope in his job to make enough money to keep them afloat. Maiph hopes in his tenacity and strength, that she won't lose him forever like she's lost everyone else who loved her. Anesaru and Relpier hope in his hope, they need him to prove that men can be more than monsters, that there is real good in the world. Sizen hopes that he can keep Anesaru and Relpier sane (Sizen's Saru's bodyguard, so his entire purpose in life is just to keep her safe). Cellic has a lot riding on his shoulders, and to him, that's normal. To him, that's right, that's who he is. His parents, and his role model Randar, all told him that since he's more capable than others that he has a greater responsibility than others, which was correct and they themselves practiced, but he interpreted it to mean he had to bear the weight of the world. Being selfless is all well and good, but it won't be long until that weight comes crashing down around him. Because he does the unthinkable: he loses himself.
Cellic kills someone. Two people actually. He had plausible deniability, there was a case to be made that they were a threat to peace in Alador (according to the information he had been given), but he enjoyed it, and it sickens him. Up until that point, he'd killed, but he'd never really murdered anyone. He can't face himself, he rejects himself, and for two months he drops off the face of the earth. Part of that self-rejection is the destruction of everything he had connecting him to his old life, including a gemstone that allowed him to communicate with Maiph. When it breaks, so does hers, and she, Farric, and Lettic all fly off the rails in various different ways. They all think he's dead, and start unraveling almost immediately. When he doesn't come back from a mission, Anesaru and Relpier lose hope, and the actions they take out of desperation turn them into major antagonists. Sizen and Falder remain mostly sane, but they're worried about the way Alador is spinning out of control, which Queen Anesaru's mental state is not helping.
In the two months while all this is happening, Cellic just snaps. He starts killing people left and right, at first he tries to justify it by killing only criminals and soldiers of whoever his hallucinations decide is the "enemy" that day, but eventually he's murdering anyone he happens across while wandering out in the middle of nowhere. He's usually sane enough to know that the people he sees are often mere hallucinations, but he also does have the ability to see ghosts and the voice of an evil god in his head (picked up as a result of the torture and blood magic), so he's never entirely sure, so sometimes he kills people thinking they're illusory. He's definitely killed some people he knew were people though.
And finally, after plot happens, he's forced to confront the monster he's become, and he can't. He doesn't think that there is nothing sacrosanct, nothing whole, but he now knows that men are monsters, and he decides there's nothing worth living for, that continuing to live will only mean destroying everything he holds dear. The only problem is that his death would destroy the people he holds dear, and so, hopeless but unwilling to vanquish the hope of others, he survives without living, doing everything he can to keep those he loves from clinging to him so that when he's dragged into damnation they won't follow. And he spends Act II and part of Act III this way. I broke the guy, and I feel bad about it, I think because who he was before (though not to the extent as the person he will be after) is exactly the kind of person I would like to be. Who Cellic becomes is unquestionably the better man, but who he was before was so close to being that man, and in watching him fall so far in between the two, it almost feels like, as the author, I'm destroying a bit of my own soul. And painful though it may be, it's also glorious.
...
So that's my rant. It's... very long. You did ask, though, so I hope its length was to your liking!

How do you think Amity’s arc will carry on? Dana said Season 3 would see characters reach their potential, but Amity’s arc with defying authority (aka Odalia) and rebuilding friendship with Willow seem to end in Season 2, and I saw someone saying that S3 Amity does not have her own personality other than being Luz’s girlfriend. I personally don’t agree with this kind of view but I am worried that the show won’t further develop her character out of her romantic relationship in the rest of S3.
People say that practically every time Amity shows up in the show. It's not a new criticism of hers (although it's always entirely incorrect). She may be The Love Interest, but she’s also her own character, too, and the writing reflects that.
I think, yes, one-hundred percent, she's going to get more focus in one of the other episodes. Thanks to Them was largely about Luz and Hunter, and their guilt concerning the two main villains, and to a lesser extent, the episode was also about understanding Camila. Those were the biggest priorities, so there wasn't really time for anyone else to have any big moral quandaries, y'know? Amity's job, and Gu's and Willow's and Vee's, was to largely be supportive, because that's what they needed to be, both plot-wise and character-wise.
As for how Amity's arc will continue, well, I have a few thoughts about that, too. I think that her character arc overall is less about defying authority and more about learning to be herself, those two things just happen to come hand-in-hand more often than not.
She was never allowed to be herself during her childhood; she wasn’t even allowed to be her own person, instead just an extension of Odalia. Amity’s arc involves standing up against authority like her parents, yes, but it also involves her dressing up as Hecate for Halloween - which is exactly what she does in Thanks to Them. In that episode, there’s never any pretenses with Amity. She’s unapologetically and equivocally herself, which includes dorky references and silent support and lots of falling on her face, because that’s who she is as a person.
There’s plenty of things for her that could still happen in the show. Amity and Willow will never be done making up for lost time. She has to find Alador and they’re going to have to have a long talk about how to move forward together. She’s also the only person in the Hexsquad who’s missing people other than her parents, so I’m sure Edric and Emira will also have an emotional scene with her at some point. I’d also love to see more of her flexibility with magic--she has a very unique style out of everyone, especially out of her own Track, and I think that there’s a lot that she could do in branching out her Abomination magic in the upcoming episodes.
Also--even if a lot of her arc in s3 is intertwined with Luz’s, that doesn’t mean she’s a weaker character for it. Amity’s early progression was deeply influenced by Luz, because Luz was everything she ever wanted to be. Now it’s Luz’s turn to pull into herself, and Amity’s the one who has to have the courage to step up, to say, I’ve got you, and to be supportive and steadfast because Luz needs that. That’s not because Amity has no character outside of Luz, it’s because she’s her partner, and that’s her job.
A scene that I think could be very good in the next episode is, ironically, an argument between the two, though nothing is said of malice. I want Amity to get it through Luz’s head that everyone is better off from knowing her, especially Amity, to explain, maybe, where she’d be without Luz, how she would’ve lived her life. If done right, it could be a very powerful scene.

Alot of people are comparing Stella to odalia from toh and saying that they are similar, what do you think of that, me personally I think odalia was written alot more competently and is a much more intimidating & fun antagonist than Stella is
Okay so…I STILL haven’t seen the Owl House, BUT I do know what character you’re talking about, as I’ve seen a few video essays and clips on her, the mother of Amity Blight. However, I’m sorry but even if I haven’t seen the show FULLY, comparing someone like Odalia to someone like freaking Stella is laughable. Last time I checked, Odalia actually had a personality, a goal, and a heavy motivation, a motivation that mind you, made sense and added up. She is the business owner of her family’s company that specializes in weaponry, Blight Industries. Her family’s company is VERY important to her, as she wants nothing more than to uphold their reputation and make money, and is shown to go through heavy lengths to achieve that goal, such as working with Belos himself. She is calm yet controlling and demanding, keeping an elegant posture that is the image of her family. It’s clear she cared more about her family’s status rather than her family themselves, as she is very hard on Amity, turning her into the girl who thought she needed to be perfect 24/7. And the relationship between her and her husband aren’t certainly well either, as Alador for the most part was just a person who stood by while his wife ran things and took control, and now he’s against her, working to be a better parent to his daughter. Again, I haven’t seen the show, but I’m sure it makes sense on why someone like Odalia values her family’s reputation so much, being in a place like the boiling isles. Now she’s a huge threat to her husband and daughter, the two cutting ties with her, but she’ll no doubt be back, and it’s an interesting insight and dynamic, because these three started out as a functional family (even if it wasn’t healthy) and now it’s anything but.
Which trust me, this is WAYY more than what I can say for Stella. Because what does Stella have to her? Her husband cheated on her, so she wants to kill him and get revenge. Why? At first some would think the obvious, that he cheated, but honestly after episode 1 of season 2, it honestly makes no sense. Not only did she NEVER like the guy and was forced to marry him, but she saw him as lesser than her, a pathetic waste, a man who sucks at everything and is an embarrassment. And yet for some reason she cares so much when he cheats, even if she never liked him or cared about his freaking existence or opinion. Her whole thing is that she cares about money and stats, yet on a storytelling standpoint it also makes no sense. I’ve seen so many people go “Oh it’s because she’s part of the Goetia family, and they probably have strict rules and have to stick to what they have blah blah blah”- expect we don’t know jack shit about the Goetia family, and how they contribute to Hell’s society. I’ve also seen people say “she wants to kill Stolas as a matter of pride” but….I dunno, with how one note she is, seems more like she wants to kill him because she’s petty, and has to be that bitch so Stolas can look good. 😬
