I've been trying to work on this AU for Spotty's birthday (it's not looking to be done by then, but at least one chapter will be i swear) so have a little angst of what I'm calling, parallel universes au:

“They say you’re a side effect, of the trauma,” Eddie whispered, they were both sitting in his living room, Buck was sitting on the floor across from Chris and himself, Chris had long fallen asleep but Eddie couldn’t make himself let go of him, “The army, getting shot, Shannon leaving, they think it’s too much stress and I finally lost it.”

“I don’t remember you having this much trauma when we were kids,” Buck said, tilting his head to the side like a confused puppy.

Eddie shrugged, “They said maybe I made up some of those memories, they said it was best to ignore you if you showed up.”

“Eddie,” Buck said his name like a plea, “Do you really believe them?”

He shrugged again, “I don’t know what to believe, Buck, you said it yourself a few years ago, you don’t exist, not here, I can’t prove that you do anywhere else, maybe you are a side effect of trauma, maybe I made you up when I was faced with too many things I couldn’t deal with.”

From the corner of his eye he saw Buck standing up from the ground, crossing the living room to be able to kneel down across from Eddie, his hands landing on Eddie’s knees. He wasn’t sure if he wanted to look at him or not.

“I promised you I would find a way to get to you,” Buck said, “And I still intend to keep that promise to you, okay?”

So I'm doing a search for more modest/conservative clothing for TS3, for both genders. For Reasons™. Doing searches is....interesting. I'm putting aside that even though I put "sims 3" into the search engine, 90% of the returns are for TS4. That's just getting worse as time goes on. No, my beef is that people seem to have....interesting...ideas about what constitutes modest clothing. As an ex-vangelical fundie who was shoved into the modest dress thing for a time, I'm kind of half amused and half appalled. I can only imagine what it must be like for hijabi simmers who want their game to reflect that as well.

Like, "modest" is apparently a one-piece swimsuit with a front plunge that literally shows the belly button and that looks like the boobs are about to burst out, but it's "modest" because the ass cheeks aren't hanging out? Or it's a men's dress shirt and/or pants that are skin-tight. Or it's a skirt that's loose (a plus!) but barely covers the sim's ass, which is the opposite of modest. Also, one-piece outfits with an exposed midriff is apparently "modest." Like, in what universe? And then there are the long (good!) but skin-tight (not good!) skirts billed as modest. And on and on.

I almost want to yell about false advertising, but on the other hand, I get the feeling that people genuinely don't know what constitutes modest dress, especially in a religious sense. Combined with the search engines thinking I really want Sims 4 stuff when I type in Sims 3, it's just hard to find new stuff for my sims who dress this way. They all end up wearing the same things. *sigh*

I'm a menace and don't know how to operate Clip Studio Paint, so here's black and white Grandpa V lol. I've tried to color this twice now. The first attempt I hated. The second I tried CSP for the first time and didn't export the image correctly and it looked like hot garbage. And then I didn't save the actual CSP file, so I lost all the work I did anyway...

I'll try coloring again later, maybe. (I must be cursed. Third times the charm, but hey, practice.) That being said, the brushes in CSP are actually quite cool. Really enjoyed the watercolor ones, they kinda sorta behave like irl.

I did the sketch on paper, scanned it in, and cleaned it up a bit. Still can't draw lines I'm happy with digitally.
