Love is a confusing phenomenon. It's a thread, a string only achieved through a commoner’s needle. Seemed as though only they were allowed to experience the love she sought. For royalty, it had to be pulled out of the fabrics of duty, pulled and pulled till the thread snaps and the fabric is left in ruins. “Duty is the death of love”

Oh but why? Why must she be subjected to such a fate..such a force..such a burden of the throne of death.

“It’s greater than our wants and desires.” Her father had said.

But how does one thrive without desire? How does one thrive without thrill and passion? Isn’t it mere human nature to want, to crave, to love? Yes. Yes it is. Of course it is. In fact it should be. If she were a son.

Daemon was fun. He was charming, dashing and ..forbidden. Smiles and gifts were exchanged, he took her places where no one would ever imagine the realm’s delight to be. And then he abandoned her.

Was this love? Or was it just fun? Is love supposed to be fun? Is love supposed to be only fun?

Against her better judgement, her younger self became enamoured with the Rogue Prince. But she was to be married to Laenor and it would not have worked. The thoughts of him went bitter in her head. To want, to crave, to love.

A loveless marriage. Tradition. Bound to each other till death claims them. Bound to the wrong person till death claims her.

To have children with Laenor would have ripped the fabric into tiny million pieces. She needed someone to revel in her desire with, someone that could reciprocate.

Harwin was sweeter than she expected, kind and..devoted. She probably broke several laws in her house alone by even feeling lust for him, let alone consummating and having children.

“The realm’s delight” to the “whore of dragonstone”.

Laughable. This was the heir to the throne? To say she struggled through the confines of her narrow reputation, was far too simple. All the great rulers before her were fucking whores. But alas, they were men.

Daemon came back eventually. Far too late. Her hero was here after she was married and had 3 children to and with a different person.

It was disappointing. Or maybe this is how it's supposed to be. He wouldn’t leave her again, would he? He can’t.

If love requires desperation then so be it. There isn’t much left to her distinction.

Ah all is gone to her name but that damned throne.

There were times where she wanted to run away, never look back and flee Westeros entirely. What had duty ever done but restrict her? What had duty ever done but trap her in its confines, suffocate her with its burden, poison her with its expectations?

But the power it would bring. She could relish in it. Revel in it and no one would be allowed to bat an eye. If her name was in ruin, so be it. If her crown shattered, so be it. Duty brought about power. And isn’t it merely human nature to want power, to crave power, to love power?

You always see those jokes from ppl in romantic relationships (though it could be applicable to platonic relationships if u and ur besties are all tactile ppl and not repressed) that are like 'haha no one actually cuddles like that or sleeps entwined with their partner'

And it's like. 1. I think u underestimate how touchy feely I am as a person and how having my friends fat ass cat sleep directly on my chest despite severe allergies was maybe the only good thing to happen to me this year or ever. Another living thing!!! In contact with me!! For an extended period of time!! Proof that I exist!! 2. I would like to at least have a CHANCE to discover that I don't actually like that kind of contact for myself instead of just the sense of there being smthn missing!!! Of loss!!! For someone who is extremely anxious and fussy about everything I sure do want touch + human contact!!!

wow yeah i knowwwwww, that scene in s4 when jimmy calls him up about the hummel scheme & mike just cuts completely through his bullshit and goes no but i'm sorry about your brother.... absolutely Deranged!! bc you know it means he was not taken in by the saul persona for one second, even in brba & even when he's threatening to break his legs – he's still seeing the pathetic little lawyer who used argue with him about stickers!!!!

also always so wild to me when i remember that mike and chuck actually met, like what is mike's TAKE on that whole clusterfuck!!! soooooo fascinating to me that they basically have opposite approaches to their family members dying: mike defines himself by matty's death & getting revenge (perhaps even moreso because he blames himself for it), whereas jimmy immediately starts eliminating every reaction and emotion he could possibly have to what chuck did bc he's experiencing similar amounts of anger & guilt but there's no one he can take it out on but himself – and chuck, who's gone

like imo jimmy is so so transparent about how he's (not) dealing with chuck's death but mike is one of the ONLY ones to call him on it! he even tells him that the scam shouldn't be jimmy's type of job any more than it's his – and then of course hard cut to s5 & the next time they work together is when jimmy's gotten himself in soooo far over his head w/ lalo 🙃

kinda an interesting parallel to his relationship with nacho; mike warns hin every time he tries to solve his salamanca problem that he's only going to make it worse + then lalo escalates the stakes so much mike can't help him any more 💀 but like as more clever people have pointed out, mike admires nacho for working so hard to ensure his dad doesn't have to take the bribe that mike feels so guilty for forcing matty to take

whereas with JIMMY what's so so fun is that mike actually sees him at his best in the first scheme they ever pull together (the kettlemans) – and then watches him deteriorate into the worst version of himself over the course of the show. like, he had a million dollars in cash right there in front of him! no one would know he took it!! but he makes the most moral choice he'll make for the entire show (apart from saul gone, i suppose) and gives it back to fix the kettlemans' mess – not to make chuck proud of him or to help kim (well it does a little but that's not Why he's doing it per se) or to assuage his guilt but just cause it's the right thing to do!!! he even returns the bribe, just like mike so desperately wishes he could've done! if you were mike & this guy you watched undo the same mistake you're most ashamed of came up to you like a week later talking about how he regrets not making that mistake, OF COURSE you'd do your best to stop him from pursuing this life & go a little insane when you couldn't!!!!!

anyway. uh. what was the question? oh yeah i think mike sees this version of his younger self who COULD have chosen better but ALLOWS himself not to, bc he's Doomed By The Narrative (chuck's voice in his head) to never be anything better than slippin' jimmy + i think it undermines the story he's been telling himself about that one defining moment that doomed him (because the reality is you CAN choose better! at any time you can make the right choice & face up to the consequences!! maybe you can't escape the past but you can walk off of the bad choice road! if it sucks hit da bricks!!!) + i think by brba all he sees when he looks at saul is a cloud of Contempt & Pity, so no fucking wonder he ended up trying to break his legs 🙃

ranting but this time more meta-level ghost transgenderisms.

i don't think i can explain why ghost's whole gender thing is so appealing to me. like even if i tried. but i'm gonna try anyway because it's like. ok. there's the obvious appeal of a performer intentionally dressing up much older/more masc than they actually are. which appeals to my drag king sensibilities and also made me go "ohhh this is how i wanna age, actually." and helped me while i was realizing how much i wanted and needed to transition (rats video had a formative impact on me ngl). but then there's also like.

as a character, copia has this wild stage charisma that's paired with a lot of awkward, repressed, insecure energy in the chapter videos that made me go like. ohhh. oh i think you're also going through it. possibly in a way similar to me. so when i write and post about copia, he tends to be holding back a lot of himself, and whether it's gender or sexuality related, that doesn't matter so much (tbh the likeliest reading of canon is that this energy is just because he's autistic but. he can be autistic And Also Closeted).

and then we have these meta levels of drag. these LAYERS of drag. where tf is making himself look older and more masc to play this character who is in many ways very feminine. and does it in a way that feels absolutely earnest and natural. and that makes me scream. a lot. and the chapters are so camp cringe comedy but they have so much heart and they are so sad if i think about them for more than five seconds. ghost is drag and it is drag that kills me, personally.

girl help im thinking of a major oc rehaul again

#okay. pains me to consider this twice with the main group now. but im thinking of downsizing the mcs to just asha and valerie #NOT because im ignoring skylar thats actually why this is difficult to see if its a betterchoice bc i love their relationship w asha #and i do love them being taken in by atlas but like. im wondering if its necessary #and if itll serve asha's character better if she's aloof and cold bc they've been so isolated #and valerie is the one to bring her down from that. but then that feels weird when skylar is there #and skylar couldve had that effect on her yknow and its weird that they dont since theyre so close #like idk how to make that work without making asha come across as more unlikable than they should be #bc then the implication is ''skylar is really enthusiastic and always trying to get asha to try new things and she doesnt #but then val does that while showing her kindness so clearly skylar doesnt mean as much to asha''#skylar does get an arc regarding their relationship with asha but it also feels too similar to quinn's arc w atlas #and i was trying to make it a parallel but it feels less like that and more like retreadingground since im telling both stories #or i want to anyways #and like. skylar wouldn't be kicked out of the story they'd still appear and be a character!#a main character in fact! theyre extremely important to the plot they're arguably the heart of it #(which is another reason im so conflicted)#they may appear later in the story and join later? but then they feel kinda similar to valerie augh #also im soooo attached to skylar and asha being adopted siblings :( thats been a thing since like my very very first draft #my first doodles of these characters were them hanging out and being siblings #maybe ill try and figure out a best of both worlds scenario where they can keep beingsiblings #but asha spends a lot of time with valerie alone at first #echoed voice

I really, really like the parallels of ‘she fainted and now I’ll fan her’ here with White Raven:

Annabel caught Lenore when she almost fell and tried to remain in this untouched and happy facade while still subtly trying to fan Lenore because Annabel believed her to be upset and needed some air.

Lenore caught Annabel when girlypop straight up fainted and more obviously fans her in an attempt to care for Annabel, her face full of open concern for the fallen woman, there’s even a whole panel that draws attention to the fan specifically.

Why does this even matter, you ask me? Because I love the stark contrasts between Lenore and Annabel, even down to the most minute details they’re opposites.

Annabel is trying to be more discreet in her affections for Lenore, her pretty smile and chipper words a diversion from the way she holds onto Lenore’s arm to steady her, bright eyes a complete distraction from the way her fan is flapping away. Her carefree attitude makes it seem like she could easily play off these attempts to care fer Lenore, like she could flippantly brush it off as ‘nothing big’ and that she ‘doesn’t really care this is just a throwaway whatever action’ (but we all know the calculative Annabel Lee doesn’t just do whatever fer just anyone).

On the complete opposite side of the spectrum, Lenore cares about Annabel. She cares a whole lot, actually, and she’s extremely open about it. From angrily calling Annabel a dratted liar fer claiming what they had to be fake to very clearly worrying about Annabel as she fans her. The delicate care, the way Lenore does not hesitate to grab that fan and start gently fanning Annabel, how she doesn’t try to set up a facade that gives her an ‘out’ if questioned why she’s doing all these things for Annabel. Lenore gives no shit about mindgames and appearances dude!!! Yeah she cares about Annabel, so what??? Lenore is just SOOOO acts of service as a love language, each time she reaches out is open declaration of, “love you love you love you”.

That kinda contrast kills me, man!!! Bright moon x dim sun, the sun does care but she needs to show it in a way where people don’t think she’s that invested you know you know she’s Just A Friend™️, meanwhile the moon says, “fuck it we ballllllll” and snitches her bleeding heart across her entire sleeve right before diving in with affections on full display.

That being said, I also really like how Annabel’s fanning is the last kindness she gave Lenore right before she left and Lenore ‘died’ and by sharp contrast Lenore’s fanning is one of the first kindness she gave Annabel when she came back from the ‘dead’ all resurrected like a funky butch lesbian Jesus.

Kindness as a last resort, as a final parting gift when the time’s up, vs kindness as an instinct, as a greeting call, as your first move.

I really miss the romance dawn trio where it's Zoro and Nami on either side of Luffy. The monster trio is great and everything but it does make me sad how Sanji took Nami's place. I miss the times when Zoro and Nami would threaten someone simultaneously, weapons drawn in sync. It felt so good in a gender way.

I've only just started thinking about this but I'd love to create things for an AU where Sanji just never gets that strong, and Nami powers up alongside Zoro and Luffy instead. I think it could be good for both Nami and Sanji's characters in different ways.

I think Sanji's whole thing about being made to feel subhuman for not being strong enough could be explored in such an interesting and even more powerful way if he really never got that strong. If he didn't ever have to be the warrior, if just being a cook like he always wanted to be was enough. Of course all the Strawhats contribute to the fights, but if he had more of a supportive role like Chopper that could be so interesting when it comes time to explore his insecurities. Going from 'the standards you were being held to are completely unreasonable and there's nothing wrong with being human' to 'you don't have to be strong at all, it's okay to just be you' could be soooo good. HE WOULD SUFFER SO MUCH MORE. But I think he'd end in an even healthier place. The journey could be so interesting.

AS FOR NAMI!!! She could be more like Zoro, fighting with the words of someone she lost in her mind. Bellemere told her to never lose to anyone, that girls have to strong too. It could be such a good what-if parallel to Kuina. If Kuina had a supportive adult encouraging her that she can be strong too, if her father hadn't been sexist, she could have gone just as far as Zoro does. The proof that her gender never made her inferior fighting right alongside him. God it'd be soooo satisfying and it'd make the message so much stronger. Also, Nami's slow development of becoming braver could be in the forefront. She'd have to fight herself so much harder to constantly be on the front lines. Plus, the comedy of an incredibly powerful person being a scaredycat is too good.

Which of course brings up, what happens to the scaredycat duo? I think the answer is related to what happens to Sanji's advice to Usopp in Water Seven. I think just because AU Sanji isn't strong, that doesn't mean he becomes any more fearful or less likely to put himself in harms way. Instead of the background gag of Nami and Usopp cowering together, it could change to Usopp constantly having to brave the battlefield to drag Sanji back out of it. I think they'd fight a lot, but very differently from Zoro and Sanji's fighting. Usopp gets mad because he doesn't want Sanji to get hurt, and it's hard to be truly hostile to someone with those kind of intentions.

Remember when Usopp reassured Chopper that 'it's okay to run away, just do what you can do'? And some of the others kinda made fun of him, like, 'That's your motto eh Usopp?'. He was telling Chopper what he wanted to hear, but much later we find he didn't really believe it, not when it's for himself. He also told Chopper it's okay when Merry's mast broke under his watch, "because we can replace the mast, but we can't replace you!" I think AU Usopp would be saying this kind of thing to Sanji all the time. They'd be very close. So when Usopp's insecurity gets the better of him in Water Seven, it's a huge betrayal for Sanji specifically. How could he say those things to him if all this time, he didn't really mean them? If it's not true for Usopp, where does that put Sanji?

It could go a lot of other ways too, though. Maybe their close relationship based on not being the strongest and being okay with it together would enable Sanji to talk Usopp down from leaving. Or, bad version, Sanji could take it just as personally as Usopp does, since Usopp is to him what Merry is to Usopp, and they both leave. God, they'd all be so heartbroken. Lots to think about...

As for Nami, I think she'd be a lot closer with Zoro. They'd be bickering all the time, but it would have that trust that Zoro and Luffy have underneath it. That if one of them needs a break, the other is there to pick up the slack. This is already their dynamic in a different way, both acting as secondary leaders, keeping things from getting too out of control. To me the best example of that is Whiskey Peak, when they're the only two who weren't fooled. I think it would help both of them retain their silliness if they were always on equal footing, fighting side-by-side. Some of my favorite East Blue moments are the couple of times they played jokes on the others together, and I think we'd see a lot more of that. When you trust the person next to you to be perfectly in-step with you, it's a lot easier to have fun even in dangerous situations.

I think especially Zoro needs help keeping his goofy side, and for Nami it'll help her get over her fears to have her reliable best friend right there egging her on. I just think they'd have a lot of fun!

Nami & Usopp, Zoro & Sanji, they're both fun dynamics, but I'd love to switch it up. There's just so much possibility to explore...

Actually speaking of religious imagery in media, Adventure Time was a cartoon i really connected with growing up that i think has a lot of undertones of Buddhism and Hinduism that get overlooked a lot because of it's Western context

Like. To be a little more specific, the themes of death and reincarnation, Jake essentially being a Buddhist with a series long quest towards acheiving enlightenment, the theology system more closely parallels the Hindu trinity (the creator - the destroyer - the preserver),

Finn is definitely some kind of parallel to an incarnation of Krishna (god of love and protection) - Finn is notably a flute player too-- and Rama (the legendary hero), and a lot of storylines in AT loosely adapt the Ramayana. They are both incidently incarnations of Vishnu(the preserver) which is interesting considering that Finn is a reincarnation of a Catalyst Comet. Finn's main color being blue is also fun to note bc these gods in particular are often depicted with blue skin.

Idk theres soooo much more but i lost stamina. But the Adventure time - Hindu mythology connection is there.
