Ghost!Ghost x GN!reader
Tumblr media
Heavily inspired by this TikTok page! I highly recommend checking them out, as Chad is probably the most convincing evidence we have of spirits and the afterlife 🖤
Notes: alcohol use, MCD(?) but only mentioned, SFW but MDNI, FLUFF, can be read as either platonic or romantic, not beta-read, word count ~900
Also sorry that it ends abruptly, I just wanted to get this out of my word doc 💀
“Okay okay,” you chuckle as you readjust your phone so the camera was positioned straight. The record button has been pressed and you open your mouth to make the intro, but was interrupted by the small flashlight flickering in amusement. That causes you to huff out another laugh before jokingly making a shushing sound.
“I've already started recording, so hush!” The flashlight obediently darkened and you cleared your throat to begin talking to the camera. You ran a TikTok account that focuses solely on capturing evidence of the paranormal that frequents your home. But it wasn't your typical “ghost hunters” that practically interrogated the spirits into reliving their tragic deaths. Instead, you film yourself taking various shots of alcohol with the most active spirit in your house named Simon.
Simon is an interesting fellow. He's told you that his death was pretty recent and isn't actually trapped in this world but chooses to come back to look over his friends. He was a Lieutenant in the British Special Forces (which absolutely blew your mind when you learned) and ironically had the callsign “Ghost”. You briefly asked why he frequents your home so much if his teammates were so far away, and he explains that your property is extremely close to where he died and he describes it as a sort of tether to his soul.
You teasingly call it his “spawn point” and Simon always finds a way to show his discontent of that name, making you giggle like a gremlin.
“Alright guys, we have Simon already here with us!” The flashlight turns on then off and you nod. “So we're just gonna hop right into this, starting with a question; Simon, how do you feel about switching things up a bit?”
You see the flashlight itself roll slightly, implying he was listening and intrigued. Pursing your lips at the camera, you folded your fingers together. “How do you feel about letting you pick which one you wanna take? Obviously the options will be strictly from the pantry.” The flashlight flickers to its lowest setting and stays there for maybe a second or two before fully switching on. Simon agrees.
You nod once. “Okay, so. We have… rum.” The flashlight turns off almost violently and you snort before covering your face with your hands, wheezing. It's an ugly thing and you had to compose yourself before lifting your head back up, not seeing the flashlight flicker quickly to simulate Simon's amusement.
You chuckle and nod your head. “Alright, ‘no’ to the rum. How about vodka?”
“Whiskey? I know you aren't supposed to down it, but-” you cut yourself off when you see he dimmed the flashlight. You squinted in confusion, not quite understanding. “Youuuu, wanna know what type of whiskey?”
Simon flickers the flashlight again, which didn't help. You thought for a moment before getting up to fetch your spirit box. It was just across the room so you sat back down less than a minute later. With the rectangular device in your hand, you braced your ears for the loud static that never failed to make you jump slightly.
“Alright Simon, I think this will help get your point across better. What were you trying to tell me before?” You raised your voice so it could be heard over the spirit box and looked at the camera as you wait.
“Bourbon,” Simon spoke through the static, and you nodded in appreciation. The first time you heard his voice transmit through the radio, you remember feeling like it reverberated throughout the room and gave you chills. He wasn't even loud, but his tone naturally commanded attention. Over time you got used to it but you have to suppress the shiver running through your body while recording.
“Your favorite, like a good ol’ boy,” you tease. The flashlight turned on then off and you cackle because you can basically sense Simon rolling his eyes in annoyance. Kentucky Bourbon is always stashed somewhere in your home, and sometimes you use a glass of it to communicate with him. You get up to grab the bottle from your cabinet, leaving the camera rolling. It took a minute for you to locate because it wasn't sitting where you last put it. You grunt and grab the neck of the bottle before making your way back to the table.
“Okay, we got the bourbon!” You held it up victoriously before opening the cap and pouring two shots in awaiting glasses. You then capped the bottle before placing it off to the side, but close enough so the camera can still see it.
“Uff, I am not looking forward to the burn in my throat,” you half-heartedly say as you slide Simon's glass his way. The flashlight illuminated your hand in gratitude and you smile at the cute gesture. For a man who claims to have been a commanding officer in his past life, he sure is adorable. “You're welcome, Simon. Cheers!”
You lift your own glass and gently tap Simon's with a soft *clink!* before letting the alcohol flow through your throat. Like the other times, it burned and you only let yourself cough after everything passed. Bourbon isn't meant to be taken like a shot, and you imagine Simon chuckling at your predicament. You feel his presence move somewhere behind you, but you're too busy coughing a lung to look over and see what he's doing.
Not like you could see him anyway. You make a face.
“God, I still don't know why I do this to myself.” You pick up the spirit box once more and turn it on so Simon could voice his thoughts. “Alright, Simon. What are you thinking about that?”
It took slightly longer for him to respond, most likely having to do with you feeling him move somewhere. “Lovely,” he rasped from the device. You smile at the camera before turning both the spirit box and the recording off.

Okay, now that I've got the fangirling out of the system, some initial thoughts on dialogue.
XL - he sounded more confrontational in the dub. He also said the best fucking line ever; "you don't know him like I do". Like, sweetie, you sound like you're defending your good-for-nothing boyfriend from your friends and family while they tell you that this is a bad idea. Tbh, that is kinda what is happening. But also, the one tiktok with this exact line and talking about opinion on assault/salt popped up instantly.
PM - he sounds hot, sue me. But, yeah, defo a honeyed hoe vibe from him.
JW - I praise whoever came up with the English dialogue and his va because the lines and delivery were amazing. By tone, he sounds confident, kind but watchful, and miffed, like a parent whose child didn't live up to their words or expectation, which is exactly what you would be expecting. The lines add to this. "Torture", "disrespect", "disappointed" and "selfishly" are the main words, where it's clear that JW blames XL for not reaching out, for pushing him away. It sounds like a concerned parental figure, but it also has manipulation, where JW wants XL to feel guilty for his actions. He then proceeds to talk about how XL's actions have made things more difficult for him and how XL has his implicit trust. This, combined with the guilt-tripping, made XL feel somewhat responsible for associating with HC, which he doesn't feel bad about, and for making things harder for JW, which XL might be feeling bad about. Technically, none of this is a bad thing; JW, as both a highly political figure, leader and mentor figure for XL, could simply be trying to guide a misfortunate subordinate and student to stay out of trouble and safe by gaslight, gatekeep, girl bossing him. But, knowing JW's full past completely recontextualises the whole thing, and everything sounds so much more sinister, an attempt at control and teaching, a perverse form of care, and a shit ton of manipulation. Either way, for both novel readers and donghua only, you can tell that something is off.
SQX - both male and female voices were unique but fitting to their physical form, and every line from them was absolute gold and had me laughing, especially when he was talking about how pretty he is.
HC - woof. No, but seriously, when I first watched season 1 dub, I genuinely thought that HC's voice actor was Tatum because of the Sebastian Michaelis resemblance, so it made sense when I heard that Sebastian was the inspiration. The difference between s1 and s2 is the fact that in s1, HC was softer and brighter when interacting with XL while being baiting and mocking towards everyone else. In s2, in the 2 lines we got, it was so obvious that he was leaning into the suave and self-assurance because he's not dealing with people he dislikes or XL. He's in his territory, in front of his subjects who adore and follow him. His tone speaks volumes of his power in the city; he sounds arrogant, but it's justified, so really, it's true, backed-up confidence. The last 2 lines reminded me so much of Sebastian with calm, poised, but ultimately vicious tone.

OHDH playlist, vol.1
I made this post as I promised dearest @cheesybadgers to share my playlist inspired by her gorgeous Old Habits Die Hard. Rarely has a story made such a big impact on me so I highly recommend it ♥️
Below are some of my thoughts and the setlist (no particular order). Oh, and one Lana track which I didn't find on youtube 🥲 so you can check out those or jump straight to the playlist :3
Tumblr media
Alberto Iglesias - Los caballos retozan al anochecer (Strange Way of LIfe, 2023 - because how could I not ❤)
Alberto Iglesias - El despertar (Strange Way of LIfe, 2023)
Lana Del Rey - Heroin
Wasis Diop - Everything (... Is Never Quite Enough) - one of the sexiest tracks I’ve heard (if you saw Thomas Crown Affair (1999), then you KNOW. Gives me Javi and Horacio on their vacation vibes)
Elliot Goldenthal - Solo Tu (Frida, 2005)
Elliot Goldenthal - Alcoba Azul (Frida, 2005)
playboi carti - @ meh (banakula & llusion remix) (slowed + reverb) (don’t look at me, I saw some very good edit of Javier where this music played. Sadly the video it’s not available anymore)
Marilyn Scott - I Only Have Eyes For You (the song was released in 1988, so there might be a chance that Javier and Horacio could hear it somewhere in Laredo? sounds like a nice song for late night kitchen/bedroom shenanigans if you ask me)
Solomon Burke - Cry To Me (another sexy song to my opinion, Dirty Dancing is ICONIC)
Lana Del Rey - Black Beauty
Andrew Belle - Honey And Milk
Elvis Presley - It's Now or Never
Jessie Ware - Wildest Moments
Pedro Bromfman - Narcos theme (obviously)
Niels Bye Nielsen - Santa Fortuna Blues (Hitman II)
Lana Del Rey - Angels Forever (I didn't find it on Youtube to add to the playlist :c )
The Killers - Be Still
Rodrigo Amarante - Tuyo (duh)
Gustavo Santaolalla - The Last of Us (You and Me)
Gustavo Santaolalla - The Birthday Gift | The Last of Us Part II Chapter Music
Dawn Golden - Discoloration
Billie Eilish, Lana Del Rey - Billie Bossa Nova X West Coast (TikTok Mashup)
Lana Del Rey - Young and Beautiful
Mark Isham - Love on the Beach (Point Break, 1991)
Mark Isham - Love On A Washing Machine (Running Scared, 2006)
Peter Bradley Adams - Darkening Sky
Lee DeWyze - Blackbird's Song
Lana Del Rey - Music To Watch Boys To
Foreigner - I Want To Know What Love Is
Lana Del Rey - Blue Jeans
There could be a soundtrack from The Code / Thick as Thieves (2009), but I couldn’t find that specific track available to listen, unless you cut it straight out of the end credits
I also think there is a good chunk of songs in the end credits in Narcos I could use too so the playlist might be updated in the future 👀

The Swan—Hockey!Cal
Tumblr media
I highly recommend listening to this song while reading as it inspired it!
word count: 2.3k
Hockey!Cal masterlist
Enjoy! Feedback and reblogs are always welcome!!
Tumblr media
It’s been a long three weeks. Calum has been traveling for away games and he’s missed you something awful. He missed seeing you in the stands and giving him his pre-game kiss. He missed seeing you skate–videos on tiktok simply weren’t enough. He missed going to The JB and sharing a pile of fresh hot fries with you.
He missed you.
It’s been a long three weeks for you as well because you were practicing a new routine. Usually, new routines were an easy thing for you to get a handle on, but the song choice made it even more elegant than what you were used to. You started with ballet at a young age before you tried skating so the song choice brought out your inner ballerina. It was a composition of The Swan by Camille Saint-Saens and it was performed by Yo-Yo Ma.
You somehow had to incorporate some of the ballet positions mixed in with your skating and it was hard to do because the movements were similar in some ways and yet also very different. You were getting frustrated and feeling defeated and all you wanted was Calum. He always knew what to say to encourage you and keep you going.
It’s been a long three weeks for the both of you.
When the team arrived at the rink on the bus it was nearing 9:30 and Calum was anxious to get inside and find you, he knew you’d be practicing while you waited for him to come home. He and Michael walked in together, he was anxious to see Crystal.
As soon as they open the doors to the rink, soft, melancholy music echoes over the ice. Calum picks up his pace and smiles when he sees you arcing around the rink, your arms flowing up and down with the cello. Crystal is in the stands and comes rushing towards Michael who lifts and swings her in his arms.
Calum stands in the space between the wall where the door is, he’s mesmerized by your fluidity on the ice. You spin so many times and reach for the heel of your skate but it slips and he can hear the sound of rage you make at yourself. You coast the rest of the way, shaking your head and then you look up and see him standing there. You halt to a stop staring at him.
His hair is hidden beneath a beanie you bought him and he has on the green Empathy hoodie you love so much, it makes him look extra cuddly and warm. Seeing him releases all of your emotions and you’re racing towards him, shavings of ice prick at your ankles but you don’t care. When you’re close enough, you leap yourself at him and he catches you easily, his cologne envelops you, his arms strong and warm around your waist.
“Hi Princess,” he sighs into your neck.
“Hey Tiger,” you mumble into his neck. You breathe in deeply, you’ve missed the way he smells. The sweatshirts he’s left you don’t carry his cologne anymore.
“I know you’re frustrated, but you looked amazing out there.”
“I keep messing up on that one part,” you sigh and the music stops. The chatter of the rest of the team echoes through the tunnels as they make their way to the locker rooms.
“You’ll get it, I know you will,” he squeezed you and you both pulled away so you can get a proper look at each other.
You squeeze his cheeks together and smile when his lips squish. You peck his puckered lips swiftly then notice the darkness under his eyes.
“You look tired,” you frown.
“Hard to sleep without you. I think we need a proper kiss, don’t ya think?” he cocks an eyebrow and leans in.
His kiss has you arching backwards, his hands firm on your waist, and his tongue warm as it slips between your lips. You straighten yourself back up and he lifts you off the ice, spinning around so you’re on the turf.
“Hi,” he whispers when you both try to catch your breath.
“Hi,” you smile, rubbing away the sheen of your lipgloss from his bottom lip.
“Did you want to practice more, or do you want to get out of here?”
“Let’s go,” you peck his lips.
***
Calum enters the rink to watch you practice your new routine, he was excited to see you do all of it since he caught the tail end of it the other night but also because of the way you described the movements you had to do. As he settled on the lowest bench, the calming sound of the piano and violin filled his ears as you followed along. Each time you spun, the bottom of your practice skirt would flounce up and Calum could see the strength in your legs with each kick and arch you did.
He was so caught up in your motions he almost didn’t notice when you fell to the ice in a heap, your hand smacked the ice in anger. He started to stand in case you needed help but you were right back up and started the music from the very beginning.
This went on for another three times before you finally skated off the ice and gathered your things. He met you where you’re at, you practically ran him over as you huffed and bumped into him.
“What’s got you so frustrated about this routine?” he asks gently.
“I’m combining two things at once, which you’d think would be easy since they’re so similar but it’s not. My mind is thinking of the ballet moves and my feet are doing the skating ones and somehow I’m getting them jumbled up. And I can’t grab my ankle at the right time, I’m always off. I just need this to be perfect because it’s one of my favorite songs and I have to show Patrick by Monday–”
“Okay, okay,” he grabs onto your shoulders carefully, “breathe. You’ll get this, I know you will. You’re one of the best skaters I know and you’re going to the Olympics next year, babe.”
“This might be the routine I do so now I’m even more stressed,” you hide your face in your hands.
“I’ve got an idea.”
***
“You plan on having me sweat my stress away?” you ask him as you walk into a gym.
“Not exactly,” he grins then heads towards the reception desk. “Hey Ash.”
“Hi Cal,” the man apparently named Ash says. He’s tall like Calum with curly blond hair, he’s got on a tank top and some black joggers, he’s putzing around on a tablet. When he spots you sidling up next to Calum, he grins. “You must be the infamous y/n.”
“Infamous?”
“This guy never shuts up about you,” Ash nods at Calum.
“Really?” you turn to Calum who is purposely avoiding your gaze.
“Can we use the pool?” Calum asks.
“It’s all set, no one will be allowed for two hours.”
“Thanks mate, I owe you one,” Cal knocks his knuckles on the counter top before taking your hand and leads you towards the back of the gym.
“We’re going swimming? Who was that?”
“Yes, and that’s Ashton. He owns the gym and teaches yoga and boxing, he’s a good friend of mine.”
“Oh…” you frown trying to think of why Calum would randomly bring you to a gym and go swimming when he knows you need to practice. “Why are we swimming?”
“To get you out of your head. There’s suits in the locker room and I’ll meet you out here,” he winks and walks into the men’s locker room.
When you get inside you’re shocked at how nice the locker room is. There’s plush rugs and bath mats outside of the showers, nice lamps, and a whole array of a variety of swimsuits to choose from ranging in every size. There’s so many designs it takes you a while to choose until you finally pick a pretty pink one.
You’re a little self-conscious in it because Calum hasn’t really seen you completely naked yet. The memory of him eating you out on his kitchen table surfaces and you feel your cheeks warm at the thought. Still. He saw your lower half and while you skate as a sport you still have some insecurities about your body.
He’s sitting on one of the chairs with a towel around his neck.
“Find a suit? Let me see,” he smiles standing up.
You bite your lip and move the towel you’re holding against your body away so he can see it.
“Wow, that looks amazing on you, Princess,” his eyes glaze over your body and that increases your confidence.
“Thank you,” you smile sheepishly. You try to keep your eyes on his but it’s hard when he’s standing in front of you without a shirt on, muscles and tattoos on display. Tattoos you’ve never seen before. “I didn’t know you had more tattoos.”
“Huh? Oh, yeah,” he glances down at his chest. He tosses the towel to a chair. “Ready?”
The two of you swim a few laps and you have to admit, it feels nice to be weightless and float. You notice there are paintings up on the ceiling, some are stars, some are flowers or a pretty sunset in one corner. You wonder who painted it and immediately thought of Michelangelo painting the Sistine Chapel.
As you were floating on your back, your head bumped into Calum’s chest and suddenly you’re staring up at him upside down. You twist right side up and he smiles.
“Better?”
“Much better,” you nod. “This was a good idea.”
“I have another one. Show me your routine,” he nods behind you.
“What?”
“Do your routine in the water.”
“How? The water’s going to create resistance and I can’t move that fast.”
“Exactly. If you can do it slowed down, maybe your head and feet will align with the ballet and skating. Come on, show me,” he tickles at your sides.
“Okay! Okay, I’ll do it!” you laugh pushing away from him. “I don’t have my music.”
“Shit, hang on,” he swims to the edge of the pool and pushes himself out of it. He dries his hands then brings out his phone connecting to the Wifi (he’d asked Ashton to make sure the bluetooth was on). The music started and he saw you come to attention.
He sat down on the chair and watched you do the routine the best you could. You messed up a few times and he restarted the song before you could ask. By the third time, you were moving faster in the water, he loved when your fingers skimmed the top of the water because it created a pretty fan, almost like the wings of a swan.
You finished perfectly on the end of the song then jumped and clapped your hands in excitement.
“Cal, I did it!”
He jumps into the water, flicks his hair out of his face and captures you in his arms, you wrap around him like a vine.
“I knew you could,” he smiles kissing you. “You’re graceful and beautiful on everything, land, ice, water…space would be a cinch for you.”
“Doing a double axel on the moon would be pretty fun,” you nod and he laughs. “Thanks for helping me get out of my head.”
“My pleasure, Princess.”
He kisses you and kisses you until the two hours is up and you’re left with pruny fingers and toes and tingling lips.
***
It’s time for your routine at the competition, and Calum is sitting next to Patrick as they call your name. The lights go down and he sees you move to the center of the rink taking your starting position. There’s a pause then a spotlight shines on you and the way you look takes his breath away.
You have a pretty headband of flowers and white feathers on, almost like a crown, and a sparkly white dress. The arms have feathers as well so you truly look like a swan.
The song starts and you begin. It’s not a long song by any means, but while Calum watches you he can’t believe how effortless you make it seem. The way you glide along the ice, and when you do your turns and jumps it actually looks like you’re about to take flight. You move slowly and gracefully but there’s so much power in the control you have of your body.
Calum hears gasps of wonder and amazement as you perform all around him and he’s sure if he turned to look at everyone sitting around him they’d have the same look he does. But he won’t because he doesn’t want to miss a second of you. You do a final spin, your arms moving up and down in circular motions and then you step carefully with the song until you halt with your arms tucked around your head signifying the end of the song and the death of the swan.
There’s a hushed silence until the spotlight shuts off and then the whole arena is clapping and cheering loudly. Calum and Patrick stand to their feet and so does everybody else as you skate off  and wait for the next competitor to come out.
They were the last one doing a song by Tchaikovsky, it was intense and in your face and Calum thought you were way better.
“She’s going to win, right?” Calum asks when it’s time for medaling. “She nailed it.”
“There were a couple of minor mishaps,” Patrick says, “if I saw them then the judges did. But what’s important is that she made her marks, the presentation was exquisite and her spin was perfect.”
That gave Calum hope, he thinks Patrick is crazy in thinking there were minor mishaps but he might be a little biased. Just a little bit.
You ended up taking first place and you were crying on the platform as the medal was placed around your neck. Calum couldn’t wait to meet you and you leapt into his arms once you were close enough.
“You had the whole room in awe,” he says into your neck. He squeezes you tightly. “I’m so proud of you, Princess.”
“I couldn’t have done it without you, Tiger.”

the blanket method ⎯ ☾
key: ☾ – asleep methods ☼ – awake methods ✧ – either
this is a method by @kyalongbottom on tiktok, so all credits to them! they specifically advertised this to neurodivergent people.
please go check out kya's socials! their pronouns are they/them, so please remain respectful.
the method ⎯
relax. kya highly recommends this step for neurodivergent people. use this relaxation time to process your day and clear your head.
visualize or find inspiration. now is the time to watch edits of your comfort characters, to go through your pinterest boards, listen to music (with lyrics) that reminds you of your desired reality. kya does not listen to music with lyrics while they shift, so they get that out of the way during this time period. kya also does not visualize during their actual shifting attempt.
turn off all lights and limit your sensory exposure. blow out any candles, turn off aesthetic lighting. kya puts on instrumentals or nature sounds, and they emphasize that they do not listen to anything with talking or singing.
use your senses in your current reality, and connect those sensations to your desired reality. feel your blanket, imagine it's in your desired reality smell the air, imagine that it is your desired reality the goal of this step is to "blur the lines between [your] dr room and cr room"
kya calls this the "falling aspect" of their method. allow yourself to sink into your bed, imagining that your dr world is underneath your mattress and that you are falling into it.
allow yourself to fall asleep.
final push ideas ⎯
kya was kind enough to list some ideas to help you be certain that you have shifted, including;
script that you smell something specific when you arrive in your desired reality so that you are certain that you have shifted (I suggest something that you can reference at home, like a spice from your pantry or lotion)
script that you hear a specific character say something to you
note from kya ⎯
kya says that this method is great for people who feel as though shifting puts a lot of pressure on them and those who find themselves exhausted from trying to shift.
kya also states that they do not shift every single time with this method and sometimes find long pauses between their successful shifting attempts, but that can be the case with any method.
symptoms ⎯
kya notes that they get symptoms around step 4, which include skin prickling / tingling, feeling a temperature change, hearing noises or smelling things from their dr.
at step 5, kya has symptoms of weightlessness, feeling their stomach drop, and seeing flashing lights.
remember that symptoms are not necessary to shift.

some songs I've been vibing with lately
Potion Approaching - Arctic Monkeys
The guitar riffs and the drums in this song are just so stupid good. What a headbanger. I especially love how it builds in intensity during the verses & then becomes a sort of driving (maybe even white stripes like?) brum brum brum thing in the chorus. I don't really know how to explain it, but it's so good. And then, of course, Alex Turner goes off in the lyricism department. I mean, "if I could be someone else for a week, I'd spend it chasing after you." Hello????
Under the Table by Fiona Apple
Something I love so much about Fiona Apple's writing is that, no matter how sad or heartbroken she may be, she remains so unapologetic about who she is. It's never "I wish I was someone else so you could love me," it's "kick me under the table all you want, I WON'T SHUT UP!!!" She never apologizes or acts demure about her own intelligence. The line in this song, "I'd like to buy you a pair of pillowed soled hiking boots, to help you with your climb. Or rather to help the bodies that you step over along your route, so they won't hurt like mine," I mean,, Jesus Christ how does someone even write that??
If It Makes You Happy by Sheryl Crow
I bought my mom a Sheryl Crow CD recently, which made me go back & listen to a lot of her music that I hadn't really heard since I was a kid. SHE IS SO UNDERRATED!!! Highly recommend listening to her debut album -- Tuesday Night Music Club -- in full, if you are unfamiliar with her work. Someone needs to make her songs go viral on tiktok so we can experience the Sheryl Crow resurgence that the world really needs. Anyway, has boygenius ever talked about Not Strong Enough being inspired by Sheryl Crow's Strong Enough To Be My Man? Seems like that's the obvious point of inspiration, right?
Black Coffee In Bed by Squeeze
Been back on my britpop shit, what can I say?
All I Think About Now by Pixies
Kim Deal hive rise up!! Her voice sounds so beautiful on this track, especially with all that heavy guitar playing behind her. I also love the writing on this song, even though it's very simple. Everything about it just beautifully encapsulates what it feels like to miss/yearn/remember a happier, more simple time in your life.

៚ ⋯⋯⋯⋯ ʕ•ᴥ•ʔノ ⋯⋯⋯⋯ ༄  Hi, LGC! I’m fashionably late, per usual, please forgive me! My name is Ari, and for those who are curious, I use he/him pronouns! I’m here to introduce you to a trainee whose been around the company for a few years, but is technically brand spankin’ new to this space! You can call him Chiba Ryūji! Hailing from Tōkyō, Japan, he spent all of his life as an athlete, primarily in volleyball and soccer, until he was scouted through a TikTok video he and his friends made as a joke. Full to the brim with immense energy, he’s a dance-focused trainee that dabbles in rapping and is very slowly improving his singing skill, but that’ll come with time. If you wanna plot, please like this post! I’m in search of plots of all types, and place a lot of value on character growth and depth, so if that sounds fun to you, too, let’s make some magic together!  .・。.・゜✭・.・✫・゜・。.
────────
Ryūji was born and raised by two fantastic athletes, and from the jump, a hard work ethic and undying passion to be number one was instilled in him. His childhood, aside from the constant physical activity and competitive edge, was fairly normal. Both his parents supported him. His dad worked hard (a physical therapist/coach) and Ryūji didn’t see him a lot, but he’s really close to his mother (a costume designer/former figure skater). Definitely a mama’s boy!
Fun fact: he’s also a twin! He’s got a twin sister, named Rio, who he loves to pieces. Does he resent her for being taller and far more beautiful? Yes, but he makes up for it by being better than her in everything else, according to him. 🤪
An example of his drive to succeed and be top dog: he stands at 164cm (or 5′4″) and was told he could never compete in a sport like volleyball because of it, but instead of taking the L, he put in the work and can jump higher than anyone he knows. Was this inspired by the character Hinata Shōyō from Haikyū!!? Yes... I’ve been rewatching it, don’t @ me. Sports anime used to have me by the throat. 💀
There’s an exuberance to his personality that’s very strong. He gives everything his all, and things often go in his favor because he’s willing to put in the work to succeed. That, and as he grew up in sports, he’s not only competitive, but everyone’s hype boy! A team dynamic doesn’t scare him, he’ll always pump everyone up. Think Chad in High School Musical screaming “WHAT TEAM?!?!” over and over again before a match. Some say Ryūji’s got his head in the game...
Honestly thought he’d grow up and pursue a profession in sports, or follow his father into the medical field, but when he was scouted from TikTok, his entire life changed. Never in his life did he think think he’d be involved in the arts, but after dipping his toes into the waters, he’s dived right in! As an athlete, he knows how to use his body and possesses a lot of strength, endurance, and a massive fighting spirit. Dance came almost second nature to him, and he loves attempting really difficult moves—even some amateur acrobatics/stunts!
He loves dancing because it allows him to still be physically active, but also creative, and he’s learning that he has this deep passion for the arts that he never knew about. He’s taken to rapping because he finds it fast-paced and fun, but his singing is slowly improving. Whenever he has downtime outside of training, he loves to polish up his skills, sleep for whole days, eat lots of junk food, and cause trouble with friends. Typical dude-bro stuff, y’know? 😂
Some of his downsides are that he’s very moody, especially when hungry, and he can turn into a real butthead if he’s not eaten recently. He’s also very fanatical and tends to have tunnel vision when he’s reaching for a goal. That paired with impulsivity sometimes means he doesn’t care who gets in his way, and will push through them to be the best. It’s a cutthroat industry, as they say.
Ryūji is also oversensitive and can be highly defensive, too. Depending on his state of mind, he’s prone to take playful jabs to heart and act as though he’s being attacked. This spikes when he’s stressed out, but happens other times occasionally, too. Despite his strong bravado, he’s got a really tender heart. 😔
Intensely impulsive, which I may have mentioned before. Doesn’t think much before he acts, or speaks, and this gets him into trouble. He’s slightly accident prone because of it, and he’ll definitely say the wrong thing at the worst time.
He’s a big lover of attention and loves having many friends around because of it; loves a good compliment thrown his way; loves being flirted with by hot guys, especially if they like short dudes. 🤪 In matters of the heart, he’s very direct and will tell you if he thinks you’re attractive or if he likes you. He doesn’t see much need in wasting time, but isn’t pushy about it either. #AlwaysRespectBoundaries
I don’t know, I think he’s cool and hope you do, too. 😎 Let’s plot!

two tuesdays ago i traversed uptown to get my left ear cut open. back in october, i had impulsively gotten a new earring while i was pitifully sad during a morning walk. “to feel something,” i’d sighed to friends, who mostly rolled their eyes.
it never stopped hurting. helix piercings are notorious for taking longer to heal, but mine remained extra stubborn, consistently tender to the touch and annoyingly easily irritated. i winced every time i slept on it (i knew there would always be at the very least a dull ache and willingly went forward with it anyway, even as a side sleeper). on new year’s eve it started showing signs of infection. the back of my ear swelled up to an alarming size, hot and beet red and bulbous. just a handful of hours later – 11:53pm, minutes before the clock struck midnight and the year turned over – i used my phone to take a photo and saw that the skin had completely closed over the jewelry, backing and all.
the pain numbed almost instantly. my body had swallowed this foreign object in defiance, embedding it into my cartilage, threatening to remain in my bones.
i flew back to new york and spent a week mindlessly tugging at it, aware i should probably get it looked at but not bothered enough to feel much of an urgency at all. it wasn’t until my roommate, who i flippantly told the story to one afternoon, shone a flashlight onto the back of my ear and insisted it was genuinely concerning. she said she was coming with me to urgent care that weekend.
at urgent care i was referred to an ENT up at columbus circle for an emergency appointment. as i sat in the waiting room, i scrolled tiktok with the sound off (my new preferred way of interacting with that app, until i delete it entirely). i saw a video about an old song exploder podcast episode featuring phoebe bridgers and marshall vore diving deep on “scott street” from 2017’s ‘stranger in the alps,’ which i’ve long considered a truly Perfect Song. it was my favorite for months after it dropped and has remained highly important to me for the past half decade. i’d listened to that podcast when it came out, but by now had forgotten nearly everything that was said. i reminded myself to give it another listen on my trip home.
minutes later, a plastic surgeon examined my fucked up ear and confirmed that my version of what happened was true. he numbed it up, handed me some odd vibrating device that was supposed to help “distract my brain from the pain.” still, it was excruciating. i heard him make the incision then use a variation of sharp metal tools to dig out the jewelry. grating, like nails on a chalkboard. when it was out, i shyly asked if i could keep it; he handed it back to me in a tiny manila folder.
“you probably shouldn’t get it pierced in that same spot again,” he said.
i turned on the “scott street” podcast as i left the surgeon’s office, hearing marshall and phoebe break down the track. marshall spoke of a previous relationship that inspired the lyrics.
“this person did love me, but they were also working against me," he explained. "i wonder if they’re ashamed of that, and i wonder if they’ve grown up.”
“it’s so sad and weird to play catch up with someone who was so intimately involved in your life for so long,” phoebe added.
at the conclusion of the episode, “scott street” played in its entirety as i walked through the passageway from the E to the G at court square. i closed my eyes, hands in my pockets drumming along to the familiar series of bells and train horns, ear bandaged and shot up with lidocaine. i considered friendship, shame, forgiveness, and my penchant for purposely reopening wounds while the outro of the song repeated over and over again: “anyway, don’t be a stranger.”
maybe you've caught onto the fact that this story isn't about an earring.
in an unrelated moment of desperation last fall, i’d posted a zoomed-in selfie on my close friends instagram story with a massive text block overriding it, reading: “CAN SOMEONE CONFIRM IF TIME REALLY HEALS?” several people responded with casual optimism (and probably exasperation towards my visible months-long spiral), but adam’s response stood out:
“it just lives in you differently.”
EDIT: walked past the shop i got my piercing at today; this sign sat outside:

hi! I hope it's ok to ask this but. Ive been wanting to do more MC content and came across your stuff, which has inspired me more to do more content! I was wondering how much success you see posting on other platforms to promote your YouTube channel and all? Ive been doing shorts on YouTube, along with posting on TikTok and Instagram, but a lot of people state that YT shorts are unreliable if my main goal is long form content... Ultimately I'm looking to build a community around my stories I tell on Minecraft. And I'd love to hear from someone with more experienced in the area I'm interested in!!
Hi! Such a great question!
I'm a bit newer to trying to promo my content via different places, so I'll give you the short version and then explain.
TLDR: I'd say there's some success to be had in cross-promoting, though I've had the most success via Instagram first and TikTok second, but I follow trends and try to apply them to my niche, or show off different bits of my worlds and promote my videos on the worlds that way. It has varying success.
Explanation: So I wanna start off by saying I don't post ANY short-form content on YouTube. Similarly, I stopped posting anything except for Let's Play/SMP content + the occassional tutorial as that's pretty much what I want to make and the audience I want to build. Posting short form (as well as long form) content to YouTube can be tricky because those videos can pop off with a certain audience but then other types of videos can have trouble getting to the audiences you want them to (i.e., less regular watchers than usual watching the videos). I think there are people who have success but I've not caught on to what that is, exactly. I think it's easier to convert people over if they like to watch long form rather than short form content.
TikTok can be hit or miss. TikTok imo really values educational and/or highly entertaining content. There is room for story content, but it has to grip people right from the first second and as an amateur storyteller (me, I'm just starting out on that journey haha) that is very hard to do!! I really look up to people like GeorgeIRL (this video is my favorite), but most of my success there is about the packs I use and recommending other packs/mods. I've had a few other random videos/memes do well, and sometimes I do have people come into Twitch streams/find me on YouTube and recognize me from TikTok. If I have a trending video about my hardcore world or whatnot, I will usually reply to comments saying I make videos (link in bio) if they are interested.
Instagram is where I've personally seen the most success, as it has a really untapped market for Minecraft imo. I apply trends via the reel sounds there to my niche (like this video here or another example that popped off) and this has definitely brought people to my YouTube and Twitch channels in the last month.
I wish I had more info on storytelling specifically for you, but as far as rates for getting people to one place to another.... Conversion rates, no matter how good your content is, are usually pretty low, I'd say maybe 5-10% max at their "best." Even with a combined ~90k on TikTok/Insta, I definitely don't see those numbers on Twitch or YouTube yet (via live-views, views per video, subscriber/follower counts, etc).
I didn't really try to promote my bloodlines content as it's lore-based but also new to me, so i wasn't 100% sure how I wanted to present it. I may have better feelings in the future once I get the hang of insta reels a bit more on how to do it.
As far as pure numbers go though...Truthfully, the best conversions for me have come from Twitch and I think there's a lot of room for storytelling and creating a world (together) there that people enjoy, though I did also have a lot of luck there with the twitch recommended algorithm and live-streaming in general based on the start circumstances that I had.
Overall though I love that you are doing something fun and including a story in your worlds, it's absolutely amazing. Wishing you the most luck, let me know if you wanna chat anymore about anything!
hugs!

Billboard USA Exclusion Zone Episode 10 (04/29/2023)
Tumblr media
This week seems to be pretty busier that one meets the eye. Yes we have some shakeups especially in the top 10 with Idol by Yoasobi surged so high. But, these debuts are just all over the place. Well it's gonna be a blast anyways so let's get to this!
----------------------------------------------------
4. "un x100to" by Grupo Frontera X Bad Bunny
You know since the regional Mexican sound is the biggest musical moment of 2023, I think I will make my stance on the broader genre of Regional Mexican sound. I get the appeal of these type of songs. Yeah it's ramshackled and the mix can be very live version of itself. But, the composition and the instrumentals here reminded me a lot of dangdut or koplo which is the Regional sound of my country. That said, I prefer the accordion one rather than the brass and acoustic bass that Peso Pluma helped popularized.
14. "Daylight" by David Kushner
So apparently this guy is a tiktoker who is making folk pop that wanted to get Hozier to be on this song. All I can say right now is that he's definitely the poor man's Bon Iver with lyrics leftover from Father John Misty's b-side
28. "Chemical" by Post Malone
This is actually quite decent. But, this song is sounded like Fine Line rejects with a bit more inspiration from Tears for Fears.
72. "Princess Diana" by Ice Spice ft. Nicki Minaj
I did listened to Ice Spice debut EP and this is handly the worst song on the album. Getting Nicki Minaj isn't helping this generic ass beat to work y'know. Also I'm kinda mad that In Ha Mood didn't get pushed hard enough.
84. "美しい鰭" by SPITZ
Now we are talking about a veteran alternative rock band getting their first hit ever on the chart. This song is so likeable this is basically why I like J-Pop more that anything else sometimes. The guitar solo is just immaculate as does the production which is I would describe as "RHCP if they chose jazz influence than rap influence".
91. "Peaches" by Jack Black
I will give the Super Mario Bros movie a 7/10 it's a great popcorn movie.
98. "Wish You The Best" by Lewis Capaldi
See this song is the prime example as to why I don't like Lewis Capaldi's writing. There's not enough detail to justify this guy's longing for someone's that he used to love. Glimpse of Us this is not.
138. "El Tonto" by Lola Indigo & Quevedo
I think I can see the differences between Spanish reggaeton and LATAM reggaeton. The main one is the differences in how it's produced. The Spanish one seems to have other influences such as the dance scene in Europe. So that's why you have those sfx sprinkle throughout it.
151. "El Tsurito" by Junior H X Gabito Ballesteros X Peso Pluma
....Huh?????? Why does this sounds like DistantCry made this beat???
157. "See You Again" by Tyler, The Creator ft. Kali Uchis
I'm so glad this song became a viral hit because this is probably one of his best singles ever. The production here has influenced RnB world till this day with the trumpet, the strings, and that heavy hard hitting beat drop. Kali Uchis' breakout performance, the longing from Tyler about his crush is just breathtaking. This is truly one of the best songs of 2017.
170. "Cruel Summer" by Taylor Swift
[Insert the "this should've been a singles" jokes here]. But like can you blame Swifties in this? This song is too good for being a deepcut. The production is probably one of Jack Antonoff's best and yeah it's a great song.
181. "Fragil" by Yahritza y Su Esencia X Grupo Frontera
Remember the trio that gotten viral for their song? Yeah they're back with Grupo Frontera with probably the weakest accordion Regional Mexican song so far.
188. "Seu Brilho Sumiu" by Israel X Rodolffo & Mari Fernandez
Now for Brazilian sound...yeah I don't really get it. I think the percussion is not my thing in general here.
189. "Moonlight" by Kali Uchis
Speaking of Kali Uchis. If the vocals were mixed a bit better this could've been a sexy jam. Instead it's just a good one.
I highly recommend everyone to listen to these songs.

Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar is a global humanitarian, spiritual leader, and ambassador of peace. Gurudev has been teaching breath-based meditation techniques for health and well-being for over 42 years. His approach blends ancient Vedic wisdom with modern sensibility for a new paradigm of leadership, and living a stress-free, violence-free society.

Tom Craven Encourages You To 'Make Yourself Known' "Make Yourself Known" is a 12-song album with 12 songs totaling 41 minutes that includes notable songs like "Hidden City," "New Signals," "Catalyst," "Sleep," and "Little Steps." This album's production is of the highest caliber, with a brilliant mix that has stereo depth, thunderous deep frequencies, stunning vocal harmonies, and evenly distributed compression throughout. Tom Craven created an indie folk record with Make Yourself Known and that sounds like a contemporary classic, drawing inspiration from artists like Conor Oberst and M. Ward but also incorporating elements of surf rock and America. Make Yourself Known is an album about life and its immediate surroundings that is masterfully written and performed. Tom Craven's self-assurance and bravery in the face of difficulty are demonstrated throughout the record. Loss, loneliness, and insecurity are themes that are highly personal and addressed in the songs. This album, nevertheless, doesn't spend much time lamenting its flaws. Tom, on the other hand, utilizes his music to examine and overcome these challenging feelings. Make Yourself Known is a beautiful production, a full band sound, minimalist electric guitars, excellent drumming, and melodies that stick in your head for days are all there in Make Yourself Known, throughout the album, Tom's voice is the star of the show. He has a unique and soulful tone that is perfectly suited to the emotional depth of his lyrics. The production quality of the record reflects Tom's long career as a solo acoustic performer in the Watford/Milton Keynes music scene for more than a decade. Make Yourself Known aims at bringing a sense of peace, positivity, and excitement to all who care to listen. Serving as the lead single for his forthcoming debut EP Sabi Boy, which arrives in the summer via Be83 Music, ‘My Lady’ comes accompanied by a captivating new music video that brings the excellent amapiano-tinged offering further to life. Written and composed by Dkizz, with production from Godfather Beats and Rufus Production, ‘My Lady’ is an exciting dance floor filler driven by lush drum arrangements and organic piano chords that highlight the song’s amapiano and afrobeats sensibilities. Underpinning the whole thing is Dkizz, with his smooth vocal delivery, and infectious melodies, as he waxes lyrical about his leading lady. The accompanying music video is a glorious visual affair that doesn’t just bring ‘My Lady’ further to life, but it also reveals more of Dkizz and his contagious personality and irresistible star power. Speaking about the inspiration behind ‘My Lady’, Dkizz says, “I wrote ‘My Lady’ last summer, after I had just come out of a ‘situationship’ with someone that was pretending to be the best person I could have ever met. It was a hell of a ride, and we didn’t quite work out, but it showed me what I really want in a relationship, and that’s what birthed ‘My Lady’. Godfather Beats and I went back and forth trying to find the proper sounds to bring out the emotions I was feeling at the time, as I wanted to write a soulful song that could be also played in the club. I’m just so happy that people are dancing to the song all over TikTok, even though it was inspired by one of my worst relationship experiences”. Hailing from Port Harcourt, and now shuttling between Birmingham and London, Dkizz is following in the footsteps of legendary Port Harcourt artists like Burna Boy, Mr Eazi, and Omah Lay that have been instrumental in taking afrobeats across the globe in the past few years, as he brings his own unique afropop fusion sound to the forefront of global music this year. Making waves with his undeniable voice, captivating musicianship, expressive lyricism, and penchant for making hit songs, Dkizz is quickly setting himself apart as one to watch in 2023, beginning with future hit single ‘My Lady’. ‘My Lady’ is the highly anticipated new single from DKIZZ, taken from his upcoming EP ‘Sabi Boy’ arriving in the summer via Be83 Music Read the full article
