to start us off, i have a couple super sexy warmup pics of my uber sweet and very in need of a haircut boyfriend, rowdy! that girl behind him is so me every time i see him 🤩

to follow that, the first penalty of the game tonight was awarded to said boyfriend! oh how i love a bad boy 🤭 he sat behind the stanchion and later admitted it was to hide from my camera, but jokes on him, i got a pic anyways!

alright. (here it is in the best quality i could find:)

this image was a promo for season 3. i believe it refers to both part 1 and part 2, even though Erwin’s major character arc is finished in part 2.

first of all, before dissecting the image i'm going to lay out all the puzzle pieces needed for us to do that. let’s focus on Erwin’s father first.

Erwin’s father’s suspicious death is what drove him since he was a child. he resolves to find out the truth about his death, and that expands to proving his father right about his theories concerning the world that they live in—by any means necessary. his curiosity and sense of justice is a major motivator for him, but arguably the biggest is Erwin's sense of guilt, that he got his father killed for sharing his theories with his classmates.

Erwin becomes a soldier (assumably, as soon as possible at age 12). and at first, he is still open about his curiosity, his hopes and his dreams. in one scene as a cadet he’s insisting to Nile that there’s more to their world than what’s presented to them all, especially concerning the mystery of the Titans, but Nile brushes him off. furthermore, during Erwin’s monologue, we learn that everyone dismissed him as a naive boy with an overactive imagination, as well as a death wish for his intentions to join the Scouts.

because of that, Erwin became much more closed off. he learned that if no one would take him the slightest bit seriously or even give him the time of day, he would have to present himself as someone powerful and worth listening to. he can’t find the truth solely on his own.

so, Erwin manipulates and schemes to further his goals. only in the no regrets side story do we see that for ourselves before he became commander. and hell, he was practically commander already in every way except in name. he came up with an actual planned formation that decreased soldiers’ deaths; he made the battle plans; he was given full authority over Levi and his friends (notable since they were known as a couple of thugs from the underground at the time) with Shadis having next to no part in such a thing. he blackmailed the powerful politician that wanted to disband the survey corps, he was smart enough to figure out Levi, Isabel, and Furlan’s plans and trick them too. hell, when Levi had the sword to his throat to kill him anyway, Erwin physically gripped the sword and held him back, and convinced Levi to join their cause instead. Levi back then, whose actions always centered around his friends’ survival, who had a clear ego himself.

Erwin must’ve gleaned something from his conversation with levi in the castle, after his first Titan kill. that Levi was fascinated at the idea that he could protect others for a cause.

so in short, Erwin is a genius. he has the intelligence, strength, and charisma - and if not, he gains it - to ascend the ranks as well as keep himself alive.

because of Erwin’s actions and how he reacts to the consequences, it’s easy to conclude that he’s a shameless ego-maniac that believes, and will, do whatever he wants with no regard to anyone else.

that’s not it.

Erwin is universally loved by the entire survey corps in the present. for example in season 2 after Eren is kidnapped, and many are injured after the Colossal and Armored Titans appeared again. everyone appears comforted and in higher spirits when Erwin and his backup appears to assess the situation.

and it’s true. without Erwin’s leadership, the morale and the Survey Corps’ successes aren’t nearly what they are.

but in his conversation with Levi in season 3 part 1, Erwin sees himself as replaceable without a doubt. and that's only the tip of the iceberg.

earlier in that season when Erwin is talking to Zachery, Erwin expresses that he doesn’t know if the coup is right, or whether it’ll just lead to suffering. he has plenty of doubts. he’s actuely aware that his actions are drastic, he holds lives in his hands that he has willingly let slip through his fingers for the sake of the truth.

hell, he isn’t bothered when he wakes up with his arm missing. he will pay the rest of the price when he ‘ends up in hell’. it’s spoken like a joke, too, and after that, Levi helps to ease the tension. in his own way, he tries to make Erwin feel better by teasing him.

later in that scene, when Hange gravely shares their theory that the titans are actually human beings, Levi seems devastated and the mood is clearly solemn, but Erwin smiles. because this was proof that his father’s theories held water, that they’re one step closer to learning the origins of the Titans and the truth of their world.

while a village of people are either titanized or dead. yes, Erwin was extremely selfish in that moment. he is selfish, but he’s not heartless.

if you still have any doubts at all about that, just go and watch the entire crate scene(link). i won’t add screenshots because there’s simply too much to put lol.

Erwin’s guilt is endless. he confesses to Levi that he felt suicidal many times, but his motivation to keep going was for his father, and the truth. it’s a complex in his head that he dissects then and there: that all he’s done, he’s done for the sake of humanity, justice, of bringing freedom to everyone in a world safe from the titans.

but his intentions are also horribly selfish. at his core, he’s still a hapless child who just wants to see what’s in the basement. the truth.

in that monologue, Erwin’s self hatred is completely exposed. he feels that he tricked everyone, including Levi, into ignorantly joining his selfish ploy. that he’s irredeemable, and he deserves a fate even worse than death.

back in the hospital room, it’s canon and has been expanded upon that in that moment when Erwin smiled at the news that Levi realized that Erwin’s true intentions are selfish. but what did he do? he did what he’s always done ever since that fateful day in the storm. Levi learned that there’s a darkness within Erwin, but he still cares for him. even without an explanation, he feels that way. regardless of whether you see their relationship as romantic or not, Levi loved him and that’s undeniable.

back to the crate scene, after Erwin shared all of that with the extra visual of Erwin standing upon a mountain of corpses so high that the ground wasn’t visible underneath, Levi kneels and reassures him. “You have fought well. It's only thanks to you that we've come this far.” and he promises to kill the Beast Titan (furthermore, Levi’s devotion is clear in his obvious passion in season 4 to do just that).

but Erwin’s love for Levi is the same. Levi is also in the image beside Erwin’s father.

back in No Regrets, Erwin is outright smitten with Levi from the beginning when he first saw him using the ODM gear in the Underground. (i'm out of images i can add.. curse you tumblr.)

he needs him to join his cause. and he goes to great lengths to do just that.

Erwin knows that Levi is invaluable. for example in season 1 after Levi announces that he’s going back to his squad, Erwin stops him and makes him refuel his equipment when it was pointless. the truth is that after seeing what the Female Titan was capable of, the last thing Erwin was about to do was risk Levi’s life. ERWIN, the man who’s known for taking risks and making deadly gambles, won’t risk Levi’s life.

in season 3 part 2 the first idea Levi proposes is for everyone who’s still alive to escape on Eren while he fights the Beast Titan. Erwin immediately states that he won’t even get close to him and dismisses it. the most important battle of humanity (said Erwin), Erwin who has gotten countless comrades killed, committed so much sin, has shown himself to be incredibly selfish, would rather die without his life goal being completed than get Levi killed.

you could argue: well obviously not. in both those cases, Levi is in invaluable asset. he’s a tool. of course Erwin would take costly action to keep him alive.

but even if Levi did die to the Female Titan in season 1, Levi wasn’t needed for the operation in Stohess to succeed. in fact, he was injured. assumably he twisted his ankle, and Erwin put him out of commission for weeks. including during that battle against the Colossal and Armored titans, as far as they know the biggest threats to humanity. Levi wasn’t allowed because he had a minor injury. if Levi was just an important tool, Erwin would've gambled Levi's life on killing the Female Titan when he had the chance. Erwin would’ve had Levi join everyone else in rescuing Eren too.

Erwin wouldn’t be able to live with himself if Levi died under his orders. while Levi has expressed many times that even if Erwin were to lead them all into hell, he wouldn’t regret it for a second.

and in season 3 part 2, Erwin sacrifices himself (on top of scores of teenagers in classic Erwin fashion) in order for Levi to have a chance to succeed. for Levi to live, and for there to still be a hope of making a peaceful world.

with all this in mind, we have the tools to understand this promo image (god i'm such a loser).

Erwin’s conflict in season 3 part 2 is between finding the truth for his father’s sake no matter the cost, or continuing living for his duty’s sake symbolized by Levi. selfishly following his personal dream, selfishly pursuing the basement regardless of how many people die. or, selflessly bringing justice to his father’s murder by proving him right even if he can't be a part of it, selflessly leading the fight to finally bring back the hope and strength that Levi represents.

canonically, Levi is also Erwin’s last bastion of his humanity. without him, Erwin would have no qualms of acting like the monster Floch later portrays him to be. (i can add a link of proof later if anyone actually reads this lmao.)

Levi, and Erwin’s father are important to him. they give Erwin his reason to live in different ways.

this is represented by their positions on the poster. both of their profiles are visible, taking up the same amount of space in frame, both are looking back, presumably at Erwin with suggestive looks, as if waiting for Erwin to act.

specifically, let’s center in on Erwin’s father. he’s on the left, notably the side that Erwin lost his arm. this isn’t a coincidence. here, Erwin’s father represents his selfishness, even his suicidality (think back to Erwin’s comment about paying the rest of the price for his sins on hell while referring to his arm). to be succinct, Erwin’s father represents loss. and in a related meaning, he represents Erwin failing, and losing his life.

his father’s expression is different from Levi’s. his head isn’t turned towards him as much as Levi’s is, implying either a lack of confidence in Erwin, or that he isn’t supporting what he plans to do, and yet in his expression, he looks at him imploringly, worried. he’s asking for something. Erwin to stop all this self-torture? Erwin to bring justice to his death and find the truth about their world? pity? it’s not clear.

Levi is on the right. “his right hand man” right? (isayama is a genius by the way). Levi also appears to be in front of Erwin, but he’s looking back much more purposefully. he isn’t afraid, and he has no doubt. his brow is furrowed and he’s looking at Erwin pointedly, also expecting something from him, and that’s to lead him. Levi looks sure of himself, but he’s noticeably frowning, showing that he’s not completely confident. as well, Levi isn’t in uniform. actually his shirt and collar are that from no regrets when he met Erwin.

finally, Erwin. you don’t need to take more than a first glance to understand that he’s in turmoil. although most of his body is in frame, the perspective of the picture is from above him, while his father and Levi are at level with the viewer. as a result Erwin looks smaller, almost powerless. his cape billows behind him so that he isn’t shielded by it at all. symbolically, Erwin the man, and not Erwin the soldier, is being exposed here. one of the lapels of his jacket is blown aside, his commander’s necklace is strewn, and one of his legs appear to be raised as if in the middle of the motion to step back. his fist is loosely clenched by his side, further exuding his lack of confidence. he looks worried.

he’s worried about judgment from both Levi and his father. he has a choice to make that will undermine the other. he’s unsteady, and isn’t sure how to proceed.

this image literally says a thousand of words without saying anything. as i’ve explained, Erwin’s conflict between executing his father’s wish regardless of the consequences and who may die (including Levi, if Erwin were to agree to Levi's plan), or to fight valiantly in pursuit of a peaceful world with everything Levi represents: compassion, strength, sacrifice.

and of course, we know what he chose. he chose Levi. he gave up on his dream, this thing that gave Erwin the will to live, and willingly charged into a battle he knew he wouldn’t live through, let alone win.

even in near-death, coincidental or not, Erwin’s arm raising away from the syringe and his words - the question to his father in the classroom that started Erwin's whole journey - affected Levi’s choice. specifically, Levi recognized that Erwin’s dream was killing him from the inside, and it has all this time. he had become a slave to it like Kenny had. that is one of the reasons Levi let erwin rest, and erased all his burdens with death.

Do you have any advice or tips for writing dialogue? It's what I struggle most with 😩😩😩

haha I wish I did 😩 honestly this one sucks the most for me because I truly feel like I don't understand how people talk, or like, I'm really only beginning to get it. I remember spending most of my teenage years (I started writing fanfiction around age 13 or so) really not understanding how people talk to each other and being supremely confused about it.

Once again, the biggest help you're ever going to get is just watching a lot and reading a lot and paying attention to how people talk. I mentioned this in my other writing advice ask, so I'll just reiterate below and add some other observations I have on how people speak:

If you're writing fanfiction, watch or read the source material as much as possible, until you can almost hear the way the character sounds in your head. Take time to understand things like their accent and how they speak (do they talk a lot or very little? do they use slang or enunciate everything? do they speak quickly or slowly?). Here, you just want to concentrate on the cadence of their speech / their speech patterns. If they speak plainly or use lots of proverbs or turns of phrases, that sort of thing. If you have that down, you've honestly done half the work. Even I often reread my work and go "fuck, all of these people SOUND the same even though they're saying different things".

A super important point I should make before anything else is that dialogue is intrinsic to character. If you have a taciturn, sullen, aloof character, they probably won't be a very emotional or heartfelt interlocutor. The things (the content of their dialogue) they'll want to speak about will also reflect this - they might complain more often, might not offer praise as readily. They won't ask for help or share vulnerable parts of them.

A more positive character will be the exact opposite of that. They might be more eager to offer advice or praise. They might feel nervous or uncomfortable about confrontation or calling someone out if they're doing something the character doesn't like.

Essentially, when you're not sure what a character would say, think about:

Who is this person? What are their core attributes?

What is their end goal from this conversation? (or, if it's just chatter / conversation for conversation's sake, what kinds of topics might they be interested in?)

If there is a goal, how would this particular character achieve it (or would they be unsuccessful if they're too timid or mean about it)? Would they be blunt, circumlocutory, deliberately confusing, manipulative - would they get frustrated with themselves because even the character isn't able to say the thing they want to say?

Another thing you have to understand about the way people speak, even if this is VASTLY frustrating when writing because it takes you longer to get to the point, is that people rarely just outright say what they want. Sooommeeee people do, but even in your personal life you'll know those kinds of people to be blunt, straight forward, etc. Most people aren't like that. If you need to take the extra chapter or couple paragraphs to wrangle the truth out of someone, that's pretty natural.

I try to avoid clichés or anything corny in my dialogue unless it makes sense for that character (for instance, Price might be more likely to use like generic white guy colloquialisms like "you're barking up the wrong tree" or "let's rock and roll" lmaoo).

Anyway, I don't have much advice for dialogue because I also struggle with it, but one thing to keep in mind is that readers are very aware of characterization, even subconsciously. Don't sacrifice good characterization even if it means you need to redo a scene or take longer to get to something.

I’m thinking about you and Sammy being the fun aunt and uncle who don’t have any kids while Jake josh and maybe Danny have a few. You’re younger and not in any rush and love being aunt/uncle.

But one day…with all your nieces and nephews around you you get to tell the entire family that you and Sam are expecting 😩

OMG, this is sooooooo cute, and I'm about to dump all my thoughts on this because this is so canon in my head! I currently only have 1 nephew, and he's only 8 months old, but my goal is to be the "cool fun aunt" when he gets older!!!

Anyway.....Imagine being the token "cool aunt and uncle" Jake's, Josh's, and Danny's kids are always asking if you're going to be at any family gathering they have, constantly having cute little sleepovers so that the tired parents can get some rest, always giving the best presents at holidays and birthdays, and of course always running around the backyard playing with them!

Because it's summertime, Jake has been throwing little summer family get-togethers so that all the cousins can play with each other because school's out. When you and Sammy enter the house, all the nieces and nephews come running up to receive hugs and kisses and, of course, immediately drag you and Sammy out to the backyard to play. After playing with the kids for a while, the sun starts to get to you, so you make your way to the covered patio where everyone else is gathered, chatting and drinking. You plop down on the couch, Karen making her way over to you.

"Hon, you have got to be thirsty." Karen says, slipping a cold beer into your hand.

"Oh, thank you, but I can't....I-" you say, setting the glass down on the table.

"Wha- NO! NO! REALLY?!!!" Karen shouts, putting the pieces together.

Sammy and his entourage of children come running to the commotion.

"I'm guessing it slipped out?" Sammy says, beaming down at you.

"What slipped out?" Josh questions.

"Rose isn't gonna be the only baby anymore." Sammy smiles at his brother. He slips into the spot next to you on the couch and places a hand on your stomach.

"You're pregnant?!!!" Josh yells in realization.

"Good on 'ya Sammy boy!" Jake says slapping a hand onto his brother's shoulder.

"Oh, this is such great news!!! I'm gonna be a grandma again!" Karen coos.

One of your nephews crawls into Sammy's lap and looks up at him.

"There's a baby in her belly?" He questions pointing a finger at your tummy.

"There is. That means in a couple months you're going to have a new baby cousin!" Sammy explains, smiling with the biggest grin on his face.

"And it's going to play with us?" your nephew questions.

"Yeah, buddy. He or she is going to play with all of the cousins."

"Yay!!!" your nephew spots all the other cousins off in the yard playing, so he jumps off of Sam's lap and runs back over to them.

The announcement excitement had died down and everyone had gone back to chatting and eating, but Sam still hadn't let your side on the couch.

"I'm so happy were having a baby." Sam smiles, smoothing his hand up and down your belly.

"Me too." you beam up at him with watery eyes. He leans down and places a gentle kiss on your lips.

you decided to do the prank on him. calling seokmin to help you zip your dress up, you see him approach you with a coat in hand whilst he adjusts his shirt cuffs. he looks super handsome and sexy at the same time. you wanted to take him right there and then, the prank slipping from your mind. he zips up your dress up, kissing your shoulder after doing so. you mentally slap yourself for forgetting about the prank and remind yourself that it was your last. hand in hand, he leads you to the car. wanting to place a kiss on your hand before he drives off, taking your hand and lowering his head to place a kiss, you harshly retreat your hand before letting out a "heh... sorry...". seokmin gave you a smile, shaking his head saying "not to worry love". dinner was a breeze, talking about different topics. seokmin kept gazing into your eyes, with a look of adoration and desire, you ignored it, having the goal of getting a reaction out of him for the prank.

reaching home was a breeze, seokmin keeping one hand on the wheel, the other on your thigh. it was quite silent, with some soft music playing in the background. when you reached home, you could feel that there was some sexual tension in the air, trying to escape the gaze of your boyfriend, you quickly unlock the door and enter, trying to get away as soon as possible before you can't resist him. he follows you inside, trying to catch up to you. he grabs you and pulls you into his waist, making you straddle him. he stares at your lips for a moment before going in for a kiss. you react and try not get kissed, then lowering your head, unable to meet his gaze. he frowns, using one finger to tilt your chin to face him and asks "why are you dodging my kisses angel?" , before you say anything, he adds on "i suggest you dont lie." you confess, saying it was a prank. he responds "you think that lil stunt you pulled was funny? what'd u expect my reaction to be? sad, pouty and begging for you to give me kisses again? if you saw the way i was looking at you, you should've got the hint that i wasn't looking to be all soft and cuddly with you. actually wanted to reward you for being such a good girl, but now that you decided to be a brat, you are in for a punishment. i'll expect you to be good to me and not cause anymore trouble for yourself. do you understand?" you sit there, still processing what he said then responding, "uh.. yes seok....." he tuts, saying " thats not my name baby" you blush and lower your head saying "yes s-sir". "raise your head, i want to see you" , you raise your head seeing him smirking at how obedient you are. "now, clothes, off." "wha-at?" you say still surprised at the dominance he's exerting. "you heard me, clothes. off." you quickly oblige and obey, sitting on your knees. Like I'm sorry y'all about to hate what i'm about to say but...They need to reunite CarSon already and speed up Carly winning the Granny wars because we all know that's the writers end goal anyway. When I say I'm so tired of this eating up airtime I AM TIRED. The Granny wars was briefly entertaining for a couple of months in 2021 then I was over it.

I did get out for my run this morning. It was 7c. This is the perfect temperature to run in. My goal was to get under a 8:00 km pace and I did it. Barely. It was the first time I felt my neck being extra stiff and sore (since I started running again), but it loosened up a bit as I slogged on.

There’s no sidewalks, and the roads aren’t great. Plus, construction is always going on so I have to be alert with big trucks going by - especially around these tight corners. Along with all the hills. Oh, the hills. 😩 I’m always slowing down for something. So I’m considering running in a different, flat area at the airport. They have a paved 10k trail so I’m going to try to get there this weekend (if it’s not pouring with rain). There’s a couple of great little café spots, too.

Run Streak Day 6 (Ran out of fingers to put up.)

After my runs I use Nuun sport to rehydrate. Been using them for over a decade. They have immunity and vitamins now which I’ll also use.

Today is my kid’s turn to go to the dentist so they can finish off emptying my bank account. 🙄 I still can’t believe they didn’t even finish my cleaning. They were dicking around with this new 3D camera scan and charting. Then the hygienist scaled the bottom teeth and said we didn’t have time to do the upper. I was there 2 hours. Keep in mind, I have good teeth. No cavities. They’re a little stained from coffee but the bill was over $500 and they didn’t even finish. Insurance covered half. I have to go back to fix a tiny little chip when I had some bonding done on my teeth. Like, I’m talking millimetres. (I’ve had the chip for a year and it’s just driving me nuts because it gets stained quickly.) They also have to finish cleaning the top half of my teeth. The quote for that is over $600. (Again, luckily insurance covers half.) My last three dentists didn’t charge me anything. My insurance covered it 100%. I haven’t paid a dental bill in 25 years. So, I guess I’m just in shock. Between the pandemic, and moving to the island, I’ve been hit over the head with the increase of price - of everything. I’m fully aware that everywhere is pricey but BC is crazy expensive. I’ve had a lot of friends move away. A few of them were considering moving back and I said: well, BC stands for “bring cash” so good luck. It’s the most expensive place in Canada to live. It’s awesome here; don’t get me wrong. You get what you pay for. Though, it’s just unreal how much everything has gone up. 🤑 We also have a very high homeless rate (surprise, surprise). $2000/month to rent a 1 bedroom here. If you can find something less than that, it’s a shit-hole. So, unfortunately, people are sleeping in tents or in vans. It’s sad, tragic and unfortunate. 😔 I can get into why this is happening but I’ll save that for another day. (I love to solve the world’s problems. lol.) Anyway, I need to get my kid to her appointment.

SOOOOOO life update.

I got a job, another potential job coming in, and a volunteer opportunity with a non-profit that i can really be passionate and authentic about, in addition to my own personal goals and projects I’m prioritizing.

Needless to say, I’m booked and busy! PRAISE GOD!

Now, with that being said, that means I have to be THAT MUCH MORE COMMITTED to my self care routine (bc chiiiiiiile my skin! 😩)

I really wanna ball out for my next solar return and change takes time so i LITERALLY need to start now if i want to get those changes in time for my birthday. I’ve always wanted glass skin. Lol. I got pretty close a year or two ago. But during that time my diet was IMPECCABLE. And with the recent changes to my life now, idk how ima do it, BUT IMA MAKE IT WORK. BC I DESERVE IT!! I AM DESERVING OF ALL THINGS!!

So yea. I pretty much have this weekend to get my life, routines, schedules, workflows, and decluttering, ALL the way together. And idk how ima do that when i work this weekend 🙃. I have Monday off, but that will be the only Monday I have off, for who knows how long lol.

So when i say things need to be on POINT, they need to be IMMACULATE. Period. Bc there’s simply no time.

It’s weird bc I need to ‘fast-forward’ my life in these next couple months and put things into over-drive, but that means I myself have to actually be operating on 10,0000 day in and day out.

But we’re gonna make it work like I said.

My boss is a Virgo btw. I am excited af about that because I want her and the team to get me all the way together and help me build my weak areas, which they’ve been doing so that’s good!

I just really want to knock it out the park.

As a matter of fact, I think I’m going to buy myself some really cute, high-quality planners bc that is the one guilty pleasure that really gets me inspired and pumped up.

Anyway, yea. I’ve been organized, frazzled and chaotic all at the same time 😂

Also, why I shoot my shot at this man I been eyeing, being all types of bold and confident, and now my skin is all types of crazy bc my schedule is crazy? 🙁🙁

i also took my SATs this past june i got a 1050 which isn’t the best but it’s better than that 950 i had gotten earlier this year, ITS CUZ I FELL ASLEEP LMAOOO!! no but i’m gonna take it again in october and hopefully hopefully get a 1400 that’s my goal cuz baby i need scholarships!!

i watched the barbie movie 2 days ago and it made me realize that this summer i haven’t been appreciating my mom as much as i should, i feel like working summer camp as just made me a little more irritable when i get home and shit. i just started to feel bad. at the end of the day my mom is just a grown teenage girl🎀 i did her lashes yesterday and they turned out cutee i’m also installing her hair, mothers deserve to be pampered too!

i went hover boarding yesterday to clear my mind and i almost fell but is it just me or do i not get embarrassed anymore like i’m definitely starting to think that being embarrassed is a choice🤔

anyways my goals for this school year is to be hot, make $$, and get into my college of choice!!
