Love and Deepspace Timeline: MC, Philos, and the Aether Core
Tumblr media
Look I finished Xav's myths card. I don't regret waiting until I was done with it to post his timeline because the last two nodes have more to do with MC than him, but I am in a state so we are making this to cope.
This is all speculation and should not be taken as fact, I have done two other posts, one on Zayne and one on Xavier and I will not be doing one on Rafayel please see this reddit post by u/joonmin for relevant information about his myths card blah blah blah.
This post is less of a timeline and more here to answer questions you very likely have if you: A) decided to browse reddit and saw people saying Xavier feels like the "cannon ro" [this is a gacha game there isn't one] but have never read any of his memories, moments, or dates B) read chapter 8 and went "none of this makes sense I feel like I am missing something" or C) just generally are confused about L&D's world building and what's up with MC. I have answers for you. Wibbly wobbly soupy answers. This post also has a TL;DR in case you don't want to see me break out the string board and just want the relevant bits of information about MC you won't get from the msq.
SPOILERS FOR ALL IN GAME CONTENT UP TO CHAPTER 8, VARIOUS MOMENTS, AND ANECDOTES RELATED TO ALL 3 ROS, PROCEED WITH CARE.
Tumblr media
Current Timeline MC (i.e. The one we are playing as)
The game starts with MC's graduation from the Academy and first day as a fully licensed hunter. We learn a few things in this first chapter, namely that MC is combat trained, has a rare heart condition known as Protocore Syndrome that has no known cure, and that her decision to become a hunter has something to do with what she experienced fourteen years ago during the Catastrophe when the Deepspace Tunnel opened and Wanderers started invading earth.
Specifically MC describes something burrowing itself into her heart. She feels helpless, like prey, and has a strong desire to never feel anything like this again. Which is unfortunate because I have a feeling a lot of someones are going to be on her trail sooner rather than later.
In Chapter 5 it is revealed that MC has an Aether core fused to her heart. This sort of human experimentation is highly illegal and it is unknown who did this to MC other than our beloved Grandmother was directly involved. Grandma appears to have taken MC away from wherever this happened after the tests started to threaten MC's life.
This is known to Dr. Zayne and Dr. Noah, though neither seem to know more than what Grandma told them. Neither of them seem to fully understand what an Aether core is or what it is doing to MC's heart. Zayne in particular seems to find this extremely concerning.
Uncovering the mystery of the Aether core seems to be what will be driving the first arc so we will not be discussing it at length here. I do want to note that Xavier absolutely knows what it is, while Zayne does not but does seem to know more of the technical aspects of how it is effecting MC, and Rafayel is at least aware of it being valuable and maybe why exactly the people in the N109 Zone want it.
At some point in the past MC met and made a promise to Rafayel. It is my personal theory that this likely took place on Hat Island during the field trip MC talks about due to some of the comments made in Chapter 7.
MC and Caleb were friends with Zayne in childhood. MC's exact age is a bit fuzzy, but the game does seem to suggest she is younger than Zayne. She does not know why Zayne disappeared from her life or what led him to become a doctor.
Comments in Chapter 4 suggests that Caleb encouraged MC to become a hunter. He seems to be very supportive of her, but Grandma seems more interested in trusting MC's protection to Zayne.
On the surface MC seems pretty normal. Her memories from before the Catastrophe seem to be gone, if she had a mother and father or other blood relatives, she doesn't remember them anymore.
Philos MC (i.e. What is Going on in the Myths)
It is revealed in Xavier's When Shooting Stars Fall anecdote that Philos is Earth in the distant future. This has confused numerous people in the notes of my Xav's timeline so I am going to be insufferable and attempt to assist with a graph:
Tumblr media
The MC you play belongs to the game timeline, the MCs (plural each myths card features a different one) in the Myths cards come from the Philos timeline. I have tagged the Game timeline as a "potential tangent" as the events that take place in game are entirely reliant on the existence of the Deepspace Tunnel, which is created in the Philos timeline.
Tumblr media
At some point in the Original/Philos Timeline, Earth's core ceases to function. Humanity replaces it with a new, artificial core that causes noticeable weather changes and fuses all of the tectonic plates together, and begins a new calendar counting forward from the years since Earth ceased to be and Philos was born. As a result, we don't know what exact year Earth's core giving out happened in the Original Timeline. The artificial core allows almost all humans to "live eternal." They seem to be like Tolkien's elves in the sense they can live for an eternity but they start to get tired after a while and give up on life. This is why there is a royal family that needs a line of succession. Xavier is the Crown Prince of Philos, he meets MC in school and learns she has a rare disease called Protocore Syndrome which will not allow her to live forever. He attempts to cure this by finding a specific protocore she mentions, but fails to reach her in time and is forced to watch her die. This all happens in the year 214.
Tumblr media
At some point MC is reborn and assigned to the same teacher as Xavier. She is to train to become his knight and serve as the leader of the Lightseekers, an order tasked with killing Wanderers. At some point during or before Xavier's coming of age ceremony, he learns the truth about Philos: the planet is dying due to the artificial core never having been meant to sustain the planet this long. The Royal Family's solution for this is to occasionally feed humans to the heart of Philos in Starfall Forest. When they do this, it creates Wanderers. As if that wasn't bad enough, Xavier learns that his father and the royal family have found what they think could be a permanent solution: there is a girl who has achieved true immortality. She is the only person on Philos who can die and be reborn constantly, and while they don't seem to know why she does this, the royal family believes this girl is the life force of the planet itself.
This girl is MC and Xavier does not want this to happen. He has a plan that he does not explain to MC, but it involves traveling back in time. He says they have specific places in time picked out, but we know from Xavier's Passing By anecdote that something went wrong with his team's attempt at time travel and now there is no guarantee that the MC he left on Philos as its Queen is still there.
Tumblr media
So now we have two timelines: Original/Philos Timeline and Game/Tangent Timeline. But all of that is just taking Xavier's anecdotes and Myths card into account... so what happens if we try to plug in the other two ROs?
Rafayel
In u/Joonmin's reddit post they mention two very important bits of information: 1) It has been 30,000 years since the sea dried up and 2) MC is a member of the royal family of Philos, not by birth but because "she has a heart that’s been blessed by the gods" and has "awoken from the depths." If all three myths cards take place in the same Philos timeline as the one Xavier leaves, we can reasonably place Raf's myths card after Xavier's backtrack mission.
Tumblr media
So the Philos timeline would look like this. I have a note for Zayne's card there as well, but if I had to get picky with it I'm slightly tempted to place his Myths card between MC's first death and her being reborn to meet Xavier again. The other explanation would be that there are three separate Philos timelines created because the MC was successfully scarified to the Heart of Philos. In Xavier's Myths 6 MC briefly takes a dip in the space time anomaly at the center of Starfall Forest which could also explain MC scattering across different timelines, but the in game spacepedia makes a point to say that there is a chance that life still exists on Philos:
Tumblr media
So it could simply be that MC over there has been stuck in the exact cycle of death and rebirth that Xavier was trying to prevent. It could also mean that when they add that mystery fourth love interest there is an explanation for a fourth possible myths card. Anyway all this information leaves us with a set of timelines that currently look like this:
Tumblr media
This still leaves a lot of unanswered questions. For example, if the Philos timeline is where this all starts, what version of it is? What caused Earth's core to give out in that original timeline? Is Rafayel and Lumeria's existence the consequences of clashing timelines or are mermaids cannon to this universe? What effect on the space time continuum did Xavier's actions have? And how much of this is actually going to be answered in game?
TL;DR
Philos is Earth in the future with an artificial core that started running out of power, and never should have been made in the first place.
The royal family fed some of their long lived humans to the anomaly in Starfall forest to keep the planet running, but then they found out about a girl who could constantly be reborn each time she died and had an idea.
An idea Xavier wasn't very keen on but who cares. They thought that "when the time was right" they would sacrifice her to the rift and leave her there to die and be reborn forever. They also did not think to ask her.
Oh yeah when they fed people to the rift they turned into Wanderers. So wanderers = people as mentioned in Zayne's Still in the Dark anecdote.
Whatever makes MC reincarnate might have something to do with Lumeria, or at the very least the Lumerians in Rafayel's myths card seem to think it does.
In game MC, current timeline MC knows none of this, and has no memories from her lives, past or future. This is consistent across all her incarnations.
Final Thoughts
The only reason why I think this way about timelines is because I watched Donnie Darko in a college theater class. People like to argue about that movie and how it is supposed to be interpreted, but generally speaking they all seem to think that Tangent Timelines and the Tangent Universes they spawn get deleted very quickly, so maybe that's why the game starts by talking about "being able to leave this loop" and why Xavier seems to think something bad will be happening to Linkon City soon.
Chapter 8 ends with Xavier attempting to send a message back through the Deepspace Tunnel to make contact with someone. Interestingly enough he calls this "Traceback II." This sounded familiar to me and sure enough the game starts by mentioning that exact same thing, it is going past a black hole and is what says that line "we are stuck in this loop."
I thought in previous posts that the Aether Core is what could cure MC... but now I think the Aether Core is likely what Philos's artificial core is called... so who created it in the first place? 「(゚ペ)
The Deepspace Tunnel is a spacetime anomaly likely caused by Philos's existence since it was "never meant to exist." So why was it created? And by who?

WELL I WAS PLANNING ON PLAYING CELESTE THIS EVENING BUT INSTEAD I WILL NOW DEVOTE IT ENTIRELY TO INDULGING MY HYPERFIXATION
IT'S FINALLY TIME FOR A PORKY POST
Are Ness and Porky Friends...?
Let's talk about that 😏
First things first, I think this single moment from the beginning of the game is by FAR the most important thing to consider when thinking about how Ness and Porky's relationship is presented to us
Right at the start, when you make your way up to the meteorite, you will encounter the cops and their blockade This also serves as our first introduction to our wonderful neighbor, Porky Minch, who is currently making a nuisance of himself trying to get up to the meteorite, much to the cops' chagrin
One of the cops asks if we could help deal with Porky, and asks this vital question:
Tumblr media
What's Ness's answer? Yes!
...or no.
I cannot understate how obsessed with this I am. Ness can't say whether or not Porky is really his friend. This is something he's unable to answer on his own. I really think this is a fantastic way to introduce Porky to the player. If he is Ness's friend... it doesn't seem like he's a very good one.
Now shortly after this, Porky begs for Ness's help in finding Picky. We get a pretty good look at Porky's character here. He's obnoxious, rude, doesn't take responsibility for his actions, and above all is pretty meek and cowardly. Now, I think some people go a little far in interpreting him as "bad" here. Porky's undeniably a jerk even now, but he's still just a kid, and a pretty pathetic one at that. If you look on the Earthbound wiki, you'll see that his age is listed as 14. As far as I'm aware, this only has one source, being Saori Kumi's Earthbound novelization. If you know even the slightest thing about this book, you will understand how ludicrous it is to use this as a source. Porky's age is never specified ingame, but I think his overall presentation implies that he should be the same age as Ness. It's fairly well-known that Ness's age is given as 13 in the American guide, but 12 in Japanese. 12 is also the age given in, again, Saori Kumi's novelization, unfortunately I don't know if this is stated elsewhere. It can also be noted that Shigesato Itoi has actually said he never thought of a specific age for Ness, just that he had his daughter in mind who at this time was in grade 4 or 5. So this gives us a range that could be as old as 13 or as young as 9. Personally, I skew toward 11-12 for how I envision the characters. In any case, Porky's clearly very young, so you really have to keep that in mind when considering... kinda everything about him, actually. But in this instance, it really contextualizes the stuff he says. For example, if you say no to him when he asks for your help, he threatens to "say something that'll cut you like a knife." I think it's silly to take this seriously (i've even heard someone describe it as Porky blackmailing Ness). He's clearly just gonna call Ness some mean name or something. ...Except he doesn't. Say no to him again, and he'll immediately deflate.
Tumblr media
Porky is in no way a bully. He's annoying, but he's pretty lousy at being intimidating. Instead, his favorite way of getting what he wants is to appeal to others' sympathy. He's relying on Ness to help him by virtue of being "his bestest friend." Or think of his actions in battle: smiling insincerely, apologizing profusely, pretending to cry. He plays up being a sweet innocent kid whenever he's in trouble.
So, I think the picture we've painted is of a kid who's sort of a jerk, and tricks others to get what he wants. It becomes pretty clear why Ness isn't sure if he can really call Porky his friend.
...But what about Porky's side? Is he really only pretending to like Ness for his own gain, or are his own feelings much more complicated?
First off, just some minor things. While Porky leaves a pretty bad, if not altogether inaccurate first impression, there's a few things in his dialogue that speak to him thinking of Ness as more than just 'that loser who thinks we're friends.'
He promises that he'll tell Ness all about the meteorite in the morning. Probably this'd be in his typically boastful Porky-fashion, but even so, this shows that he wants to share things with Ness.
It's easy to miss because most people playing Earthbound have played A Video Game's before, and also tend not to ignore directions the game is clearly telegraphing, but Porky will actually give you advice if you're not properly prepared.
If you don't grab the Cracked Bat:
You're not taking anything on our big adventure? Why don't you look around for your Cracked bat or something?
Taking the bat but not equipping it:
Sorry about giving you this game-type advice, but you should equip your weapon! Do you know what "equip" means?
Yes:
Okay, that's good. Be sure to pay attention to details like that.
No:
It means "use" or "wear." You must equip items in order to use or wear them. "Equip" is used a lot in games like this, but you already knew that...
Finally, not answering your dad:
The phone is ringing! Answer it! At my house, my dad gets bent if I don't get the phone... within the first three rings!
These aren't anything groundbreaking, but they do show how Porky acts with Ness in casual contexts, plus how the game presents Porky surprisingly neutrally in the beginning, rather than just immediately telegraphing him as the villain. Also, nobody's seen these so hey, some obscure trivia for you.
Finally, Porky's reaction to hearing the prophecy is pretty telling of the kind of character Porky is pre-Giygas. He just talks about how much trouble Ness is in now, how he hopes he doesn't have to come, and how freaked out he is. I think this sums him up pretty well. He's the meek comic-relief friend character. Sniff from Moomin, for example. Or go watch Monster House, because Chowder is literally exactly Porky.
But none of that is super juicy. Let's dive into something juicy. This little bit murdered my brother when we got to it in our playthrough.
A quick detour to Magicant...
Ness... I envy you. You have all the luck. I have no luck. Ness... well, okay... Let's be friends forever, alright?
still hurts
Yeah so first off, I think this totally clears up Ness's feelings towards Porky. He can't say if they're really friends... But he WANTS them to be.
This is Ness's vision of Porky, the Porky he used to know before Giygas corrupted him, and the one he wishes was still around.
But even if this is just a manifestation of Ness's consciousness, I think it also gives us a look into Porky's inner self. This is what Ness sees in Porky, the confession that Porky is too insecure to say out loud. He hides it behind all his boasting and rudeness, but he really, really wants to keep his friendship with Ness.
Well.
If only.
Let's get to MOTHER 3.
Tumblr media
This game gives us SO much more of Porky's character, and it's all sooooo deep. I cannot understate how much I hate seeing Porky reduced to 'that Eric Cartman kid who is an absolutely irredeemable suchnsuch.' King P is the culmination of a lot of aspects of Porky's character arc (you think this post is long, it's only the first of many more...), but one of the most prominent aspects is his unbelievably, painful, PATHETIC loneliness. This kid... man... is so desperate for a friend after he left the only person who ever wanted to connect with him that he literally brainwashes a whole city's worth of people into loving him.
And of course that's not enough, because all he wants is his next-door neighbor, his good buddy, his bestest friend Ness.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
In closing, are Ness and Porky friends? It's complicated. Both clearly, desperately want to be. They have a history, they know each other intimately, by Itoi's own words they literally grew up playing together. But, for a number of reasons (that I've thought all too much about...), Porky just can't help but make it difficult. I'd sum it up by listening to the song that plays during Earthbound's cast credits. In the end, there are good friends, and...

Building Houses and Burning Bridges Pt 5: Bargains and Balls
Tumblr media
Summary:
It seems, oddly enough, that Gregory House lives to annoy you. He takes 'arseholish boss' to the next level. Wake up in the morning, ready to have breakfast, and drive to the hospital where you both work? Nope, you're getting a text that says you're late to his impromptu 4:30 AM meeting where he's had the 'breakthrough of the century' on the team's latest case. Get your hair cut and walk into work, for once feeling confident? Nope, he's saying that he would have done a better job blinded, hands tied and going through Vicodin withdrawals. Finally, 𝘧𝘪𝘯𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺, prove him wrong and attempt to wipe the cockiness off his face? Nope, you're simply slow because you didn't get to your diagnosis quicker and weak-willed because you didn't fight him for it in the beginning. Everything House does infuriates you, and it seems everything you do infuriates him. No wonder you end up pinned to the wall of your apartment and groping him like your life depends on. And knowing House, it very may well.

-----------------------
The white envelope sears a hole into your pocket during your journey home. You toss it against your bedside dresser, and imagine it sizzling and scorching the wood.
It sits there for another week before you pick it up again. You blame work, of course. House hadn’t given up completely on making your life a living hell, but it seemed he had relented somewhat. Still, you were running around. Chasing after MRIs and lumbar punctures and CT scans and bloodwork and all the sorts. Cuddy, after your last conversation, seemed determined to make sure you weren’t about to collapse under House. She set up work counselling (that you skipped. Admitting that House was affecting you was admitting defeat, right?), and, by his snarky “Tattle to mummy? You’re just lucky I like seeing her with a whip” comment, she had reamed House out.
Any spare time that you did have at the hospital was taken up with clinic duty. Kids with snotty noses, men with sore backs, women with rashes, teenagers with acne; you had dealt with more incredulous patients in one week than you had during your residency.
So yes. You blame work.
You sit on your bedroom floor, your back pressed to one of the boxes. It has DESK STUFF scrawled across the side in sharpie. Of course, you couldn’t start unpacking until the rest of your bedroom was clean. Starting with the envelope.
You slide open the top and pull out the invitation. Small. A slight silver tinge. An embossed stamp of the hospital’s logo. Overwhelmingly underwhelming.
Still, your stomach curled, and you reread it, over and over. A charity ball, to celebrate the end of winter and more importantly, raise money for some of the hospital’s foundations. It had raffles, auctions, and games. A long list of celebrated donors and a longer list of speakers. You scan the list, and while you see Dr Wilson’s, House’s isn’t shown. Maybe he was shy, beneath all that boisterous toxicity.
You snort to yourself. Not likely.
It takes two more days for you to drag your feet to Pop’s. He’s tinkering away at something by his counter; too many screws and bolts for you to really guess what. But when he sees you, he drops it all, and rushes around the counter to crush you in a hug. You laugh, but it’s swallowed up by the scratchy flannel he’s wearing. He sways you on the spot, and you hug him back, clutching at his back.
When he releases you, his hands land on your cheeks. “You look horrible!”
You laugh and push away at his hands. You can imagine the flecks of dirt and iron on your cheeks, but you make no move to wipe them away. “Gee, thanks.”
He nods, and you follow him back to the counter. You lift yourself up, and sit on the edge, your feet dangling off like a child’s. He picks up what he was working on earlier, and grumbles. “Not rude. Just the truth. You look terrible. Like a ghost.”
You nod, swinging your shoes in front of you. “Work’s been a lot recently.”
His eyes swivel to yours, and his tinkering pauses. “Is it that man again? Home?”
In the past few months, even though you had slowed down on your impromptu home renovations, you had still visited Pop. On slow days, he taught you card games and how to shuffle a deck. In his large hands, the cards were like magic, disappearing and flying through the air. He had not been impressed at the news of your boss. Of course, you omitted some details (like how at one point, you were convinced you wanted to jump his bones), but he got the general gist of House’s behaviour.
Laughing, you shake your head half-heartedly. “A little bit. Even without him though, the job’s just tiring.”
He huffs. “You need food. Sleep. If you go home and get to bed, me and Ella will drop you soup.”
As if summoned, you hear her telltale shoes clicking against the hardwood floor. Ella, Pop’s wife, appears through the small door in the corner that leads to the back. She’s a beautiful woman. Dark, greying ringlets of hair frame her sun-kissed, weathered face, and a store apron is draped across her frame. You push yourself off the counter to stand and her smile is instantaneous. Just as Pop did, she rushes forward to hug you. It’s not as bone-crushing, but you squeeze her back tightly nonetheless. Her green eyes twinkle, and you have to force yourself not to stare at the full lashes that frame them. “It’s good to see you, sweetheart.”
You smile. “You too, Eleanora.”
Her smile drops, and she swats at your arm. “Ah, so you call him Pop and all I get is Eleanora? Call me Ella, at least.”
You duck your head and raise your hands in apology. “Of course, of course.”
You had this conversation numerous times in your past visits. Something about her nickname was too endearing. Of course, she was an endearing woman; a wide, toothy smile, rosy cheeks, and golden jewellery hanging across her neck. Yet, she was formidable and intimidating when she wanted to be. That’s what drew you to call her Eleanora. Ella was an amazing cook, and on some of the nights you stayed chatting with Pop until closing, she would push a plate into your hands and demand you eat it. For such a small woman, she could be intense. It was a demand you were willing to oblige.
Happy with your promise to concede, Ella turns and busies herself by tidying Pop’s counter. She replaces the screwdrivers and Allen keys that he has lying about to their home and is a flurry of cleansing movement around the two of you. You know better than to try to help; she had nearly had a hernia the last time you tried sweeping the floor. Ella was a self-sufficient woman and survived alongside Pop without taking advantage of others.
You raise yourself back onto the counter and sigh, looking towards Pops. “I don’t need sleep. I need a dress. At work, we have this biiiiig,” You stretch your hands over your head in a sweeping motion. “Charity event. I have nothing to wear; is there a dress shop around here? Or even a clothing shop?”
No way would you be able to meander into town near the hospital before or after work; the shops opened too late and shut too early. The thick caterpillars that are Pop’s eyebrows, scrunch together, but it’s Ella who stops her flurry and speaks. “No, no, I’ll have something for you.”
You tilt your head to the side and look at her quizzically. She taps your knee and bustles off to the back door. You shoot Pop a look, but he just shrugs his shoulders. “Best if you follow her, kid. She’ll drag you up there anyway.”
You nod and push through the back door. It leads to a larger back room, filled to the brim with filing cabinets, and thick, manilla folders that are bursting at the seams. To your left, you turn just in time to see Ella trudging up a sagging staircase. You spare one last fleeting glance at the room and follow her.
While she is able to make it up quietly, the stairs creak in protest underneath you. You sheepishly hasten your steps when Ella makes it to the next floor. There’s a small wooden landing and adjoining doors. Ella has already disappeared into one, so you gingerly open each. The first is a small, but pristine and ornate bathroom. There’s a lounge room, filled with bookshelves and a VHS player. The third is a small kitchen; a window looks outwards to a simple backyard, but you can imagine it in the summer, pushed open and welcoming all sorts of warm sunlight and songbird melodies. Finally, after feeling like the biggest intruder to their home, you find Ella in the bedroom.
She’s plunged into a large, wooden cabinet, and you toe off your shoes to abandon them by the landing before you cross onto the soft carpet. You sit on the edge of the large bed awkwardly, but when you clear your throat, Ella spins around and tuts. “No, up, up!”
Like a soldier, you stand to attention, but Ella doesn’t seem as offended at you sitting on her bed as she does seem interested in poking at you. For a moment, she stands in front of you and surveys you, her green eyes sweeping across your face, your torso, down to your legs and back up again. She steps forward on nimble feet and reaches up to push your chin up and your shoulders back. Now you really do feel like a soldier.
She pulls both of your hands in front of you, and you think it best to just let her play around with you like a doll; right now she was Eleanora, not Ella. She turns your palms upwards, and then back down. Then she guides your arms out to the side, and nudges your leg apart with her own, all while staring with a calculating eye. Now, standing in the centre of her room like you're in the middle of a jumping jack, she circles around you. Your head involuntarily turns to follow her, but she tuts again, and you look forward. She shifts your hips to the centre and places the palm of her hand against your back, pushing to even your posture.
She does odd measurements with her hands. She closes one eye, holds a hand parallel to your throat and shifts it down, lining it up against your waist. She gauges the width of your shoulders and mirrors it against your hips. She tuts at your chest, and you look at her with worry. She shakes her head, “It’s fine. Your mother and God were just kinder to you than they were to me.” She continues her measurements and when she circles back around to face you, she nods with determination. “It should be perfect.”
—--------- The days pass by in a flurry of snowy weather and icy roads. The charity event is quickly approaching, and your stomach is curling at the thought of it. Cameron, Foreman, and yourself are bundled into a small cafe booth. It’s overpriced and has horrible sandwiches, but it’s inside the hospital and most importantly away from the mini blizzard outside.
You poke at your sandwich and sip from your hot chocolate. Cameron got a pastry, which while you would usually expect to be burnt on one side and undercooked on the other, looks like sweet goodness. Foreman wretches at his salad. “This has got to be a health violation. Who puts anchovies in caesar salad anymore?”
You laugh. “Who buys anchovies from the hospital anymore?”
Foreman shakes his head and pushes his plate away from him. You reach across and push your own towards him, and he looks towards you with wide eyes. “Really?”
You nod. “Yep. I asked for no mayo and got mayo, so they’ll go to waste if you don’t have them.”
Cameron laughs. “When Chase shows up, they won’t go to waste. He’s like a tall, skinny, bottomless pit.”
You all laugh, and Foreman humbly accepts. In a mouth full of sandwiches, he speaks. “Fu wot, aryu affergeec?”
Cameron scoffs beside you and shakes her head. “Finish chewing, Foreman. I don’t want your crumbs spat in my coffee.”
He swallows and turns back to you. “I was asking if you’re allergic. To mayo? Or would it be eggs, then?”
You shake your head, feeling a blush creep over your cheeks. “I’m not allergic. It’s just gross and makes me gag. I used to be force-fed sandwiches which were basically drowned in mayo, and now I can’t eat it.”
Foreman nods. “I get it. My mum used to make us tuna pasta- she was a great cook, but something about that dish she could never get right. I think we were so broke at one point, even the tinned tuna was out of date. Just the smell of tuna makes me gag now.”
You sip your hot chocolate, trying to chase away the thought of fish and mayo. You stop when you spy Chase, weaving between tables, looking like Frosty the Snowman. When he slides in across from you, Foreman laughs. “What happened to you, man? Did House send you outside as a punishment?”
Chase scoffs, and whips his beanie and scarf off. It sends flecks of snow flying, which quickly melt against the table. “Nope. I went to five different stores, and the first three were closed.” He groans, rubbing at his side. “I think I busted a rib on the ice.” Cameron coos. “Did you slip over? Before we go back up, I’ll see if you’ve actually broken something, or if you’re just being a baby.” Chase locks eyes with you across the table,\ and rolls them. You stifle a snort.
Foreman speaks between mouthfuls this time. “What. Were. You. Shopping. For?”
Chase inhales and produces a white shopping bag. He places it on the table and slides it towards you. Now you’re the one locking eyes with him, and mouthing ‘What?’ He gestures towards the bag with a hand. Even Foreman’s put down his sandwiches to watch. “Open it.”
You’re sceptical, and gingerly reach a hand inside the bag, pulling out a box. You look back to Chase for confirmation, and he nods. “Go on.”
You open the box, and push past plain tissue paper. There’s a pair of glittery, black pumps. You look back to him, frantic. “Chase, I can’t, these are gorgeous and-”
He nods. “I barfed on your shoes. Literally barfed. And I was meaning to get you a new pair a few weeks back, but then I didn’t know what you liked.”
“No, really, I can’t take these, this is too much-”
“I tore up the receipt. Shredded it, actually.”
You blink. “Huh?”
Cameron nods along. “I saw him burn it too. And black’s not Chase’s colour, so I guess you’ll just have to take them.”
You shake your head, but Chase speaks first. “I’m serious. I’m not taking them back.”
You stare at him, willing him to break, but he pokes his tongue out at you. You furrow your brow. “Okay. You know these aren’t really practical for work, right?”
Foreman reaches over, plucking a heel and holding it up to examine it. “Look at it! You’ll finally be able to reach the top medicine shelves in the clinic.”
“Ha ha.” You laugh humorlessly, taking back the shoe, and returning it to its box.
Chase speaks. “Well, we’ve got that charity thing coming up this week…I was hoping it went with your dress, and that maybe, you’d like to-”
“Sit with us!” Cameron interjects. Chase shoots her a look and begins to open his mouth but she continues. “Cuddy’s asking us for table arrangements, so we thought we’d sit together as a diagnostic team. Right, Foreman?”
Foreman squints at her, but when there’s a resounding thump under the table and he winces, he nods. “Yep. Right.”
Chase chews his cheek, staring at Cameron. “You sure, Cameron? Maybe we should let her make her own decisions and not force her into something.”
Cameron shakes her head. “She’s not being forced into something. She’s being asked, and can say yes or no.”
You lean forward. “I’m lost. What am I saying yes or no to?”
Chase doesn’t look towards you anymore, staring down at the table. Cameron turns to face you. “Well, do you want to sit with us?”
You nod. “Of course; the only other people I know here is Cuddy and House.”
Cameron smiles, and if anything, Chase’s face turns even more sour. “Perfect. We’ll see you there.” —------ Chase avoids you for the rest of the week. You thought, maybe the shoes were a sign of something more. But he’s adamant in separating at every chance from you. Before, he used to seek you out at the coffee machine and talk to you about everything from you shouldn’t trust the creamer to how aliens must be real. It’s disappointing. Cameron shoots you sad smiles when no one else is around. “He’s just stressed. House has been riding his arse, but after this charity ball, it should be fine.”
Your logic wants to question her, and demand to know why she thinks that. But, you feel like you’ve lost a friend in less than four days, and nod, clinging to some semblance of hope. Yet, two days being the dinner-ball-charity-anxiety inducing-thing, it’s House that seeks you out.
‘I’ve been told to ‘talk’ with you.” He makes quotations with his fingers in the air.
You scoff, and spin back to the microscope, where about a minute ago, you were analysing liver cell enzymes in peace. “Oh, so no hitting this time? I’m glad, I thought your cane could use a break.”
House makes a weird noise in the back of his throat, and your eyes flick back to him. He coughs….almost awkwardly? “Mother superior says you’re skipping counselling.”
“Ohhh.” House had to talk about feelings. No wonder the narcissistic robot was feeling awkward. “Yep.”
He rolls his eyes. “Most people wouldn’t be so snippy with their boss.”
You nod along, staring back at the glass slide. “Yep. Then again, most bosses wouldn’t be the reason that most people need work counselling, but hey.” You don’t mention that you’re upset Chase is managing to ghost you at work.
He scoffs. “You don’t need it because of me. I’m sure there’s some weird, hormonal, womanly disaster you’re hiding.”
“So we agree. I don’t need it.”
“Don’t twist my words like that, newbie, I-”
You sit up, facing him fully. “The only reason Cuddy wants me in counselling is because she’s afraid you’re hurting my feelings. You’re not.” Lies. “It doesn’t keep me up at night when you act like a dickhead.” Lies. “Hence, I don’t need counselling.” Lies.
House runs his hand down his face, and you have to stop yourself from tracking the movement. Just stare at the pale wall to the left of his head. Just like that- no, no you’re staring at his face again.
He sighs. There’s a beat of silence, then two, and then three. You’re about to ask him why he’s still interrupting the task he ordered you to do when he speaks with a lively vigour. “So! If you’re not wanting to throw yourself down a set of stairs because of me,” Lies. “You could totally manage to go to the charity thingamajig with me. Something about dying babies or dying grandmas, I don’t know.”
You blink. “It’s for the hospital’s Domestic Violence foundation and Childhood Cancer.”
“Ah, so men acting like babies and children dying like grandmas. I’ll take that as a yes.”
“No!”, you blurt out.
He blinks, frazzled. “No? You don’t think abusive men act like immature babies?”
You roll your eyes. “Shut up. Why are you inviting me?”
His jaw flexes for a moment, and he stares at you. The silence is loud, but you see the chord of electricity connecting the two of you thrumming. Your thoughts are pulsing at the same beat. Say it. Chase didn’t say it. No one’s ever said it to me. Say that you’re inviting me because you want me with you. Not Cameron, not Cuddy, not some leggy blonde. Me.
Instead, he says “It’s the one apology you’ll ever get for me making you want to throw yourself down a set of stairs.”
Your thoughts zap and fizzle out with a pop. Even their absence is shameful, and you dumbly nod your head. It’s a work event. What were you expecting? Moreso, why were you expecting it from House? “Fine.”
His eyebrows shoot up, and you scoff. “Don’t make me take it back.”
“Hey!” He places a hand to his heart, faux wounded. “No refunds on sponsoring domestic abusers with me.”
“What? That’s not what the charity do-”
He’s already limping out of the lab and you’re left in silence. —------- There was no frumpled jacket, fraying sweater, and an untucked shirt. No coffee-stained jeans or pen-scratched slacks.
The black dress clung to your waist, cinching in, and widening out into a breathy, floor-length skirt fleckered with embroidered flowers and trailing leaves. God, you prayed no one thought this was too slutty; sure, there wasn’t a thigh-high slit or even any leg showing, but your full breasts were practically shoved up to your chin.
Ella’s dress. She was ecstatic when she handed it to you, and demanded that you try it on at their home and that Pop drive you to the ball. She helped you wriggle into it; almost a claustrophobic process, but Ella would laugh each time you hand stuck through the neckline or the skirt. “You’re like a silly monkey. When my daughter and my sons grew up, I thought there would be no silly monkeys left here.” She pinches your cheek tenderly while you're wrapped in odd angles of the dress. “But then you came. I’m so glad you did.”
Eventually, you stretch and jump and slide into the dress. Pop’s already waiting for you outside, by his old, clunky truck. He envelopes you quickly, squeezing you and resting his head on your own. “You look beautiful. Ella was right, the dress is perfect.”
You laugh. “She always is.”
You thank him again and again for driving you all the way, but his reply is a gruff laugh. You insist that you’ll be fine later tonight, and will get a lift home with someone or call a taxi. It’s two late for Pop to be driving out on icy roads. When he parks in the bay of the hospital, he turns to you. “You sure? I rather you get home with me then not at all.”
You nod. “I’m sure. Don’t worry, I’ll get home.”
He runs his hands across his moustache, and nods. The seriousness dissipates from his face, and he smiles tenderly at you. “Have a great time.”
The dress was beautiful, you think when you shuffle from the car and quickly into the warmth of the foyer. But Ella had been right in saying that your mother and god were kinder. Your boobs were nearly spilling out of the top, and as you step through the doorway, you cross your fingers that you wouldn’t give the whole hospital staff a nip slip.
The hospital’s foyer had been completely converted. There was no stuffy receptionist or odd potted plants. There was draped, flowing curtains along the wall, obscuring the view of the clinic and offices. There was a faux chandelier for god's sake, dangling down from the floor above. Even the floors seemed to gleam. The foyer seemed bigger somehow. There were large, circular tables, covered in white cloth, that bordered the edges, yet there was still room for (presumably) a dance floor in the centre. Furthest away, there was a large catering table, and you stomach was already growling.
The second you think of beelining to the food however House sidles into view. He whistles, staring at your chest. “Wow. I’d say you clean up nicely, but those sure do.”
You resist the urge to cover up, and a blush flames across your cheeks. “You don’t look absolutely repulsive yourself, House.”
That was far from the truth. House was wearing a form-fitting black suit. Had his hair been combed? Was his cane polished? Whatever it was, he looked…handsome. You would have to be wary.
He holds out his left hand. “I hope you don’t have rabies.”
You gingerly reach out, feeling his rough palm against your own. His fingers are against your pulse. “I do. Air-borne gonorrhoea, too.”
House smiles, and you find that you can’t look away from it. He realises you’re staring at him in awe however and a scowl quickly covers his face. He yanks you to his side and spins for the both of you to face the room.
You hiss, “You’re lucky I didn’t trip. I would have brought you down with me.”
“I have the cane as an advantage. Now,” you inch closer, til your shoulders are pressed together. Or rather, it’s your head by the tip of his shoulder. You tilt your ear, listening as he whispers conspiratorially. “The best thing I will ever teach you is how to get in, and out of a Cuddy-event.”
You snort. “I thought that you wanted to support domestic abusers?”
He peers down at you, scoffing. “You must have me confused for someone else.” He looks back out to the foyer, and gestures with his head, first to the catering table, “You get food. Not a lot, but enough to seem that you’re interested in staying for the evening. You dance, and make sure that someone remembers that you’ve danced.”
You nudge him in the ribs, and he looks back at you. “How do you dance? I’ve seen you avoid walking to an OR because of your leg.”
He grins and reaches into the pocket of his suit. He produces a pill bottle and rattles it. “I have enough of these bad boys to endure Cuddy’s torture tonight. I’m going to tear it up on the dance floor.”
You roll your eyes. “Okay, dancing, eating, what other great tips do you have?”
“Well, I have a great tip in my pants but another one is also to do the worst thing on earth- small talk. Luckily for me, I have Wilson.”
You huff out a laugh torn between humour and disgust at his innuendo. At that, he loops your arms together, and he walks towards one of the outlying tables. Wilson sits there, and you spy the ducklings a few tables over. You wave at them, and while Foreman and Cameron both smile back, Chase blanches.
Wilson draws you back to where you are when he says your last name. “It’s good to see you here. And with House! I thought by now, he would have made you a bitter enemy.”
House scoffs, and you feel where your arms are linked burn when he speaks. “I have. This is all a ruse to get her guard down.”
You roll your eyes, but smile at Wilson. “He roped me in. Something about dying babies and dying grandmas.”
Wilson squints. “That sounds like House, especially because tonight is for Domestic Violence-”
“And childhood cancer!” House interjects. “I bet you’ll see a lot of your little friends running around tonight, Wilson. Or is it more like wheeling around?”
Now Wilson rolls his eyes and turns back to you. “If you ever need a break from him, I’ve got a free seat at my table.”
House’s elbow seems to pull you in tighter, but you smile. “Thanks. I’m sure I’ll swing by later.”
House doesn’t say bye to his friend, already leading you away. It’s odd; Wilson and House bicker and fight, yet you get the sense they’re the closest friends in the hospital. You try to tug his elbow back towards the ducklings' table, but he tuts. “Small talkis donee. Food now.”
You shake your head. “That was hardly small talk. We were there for two minutes before you were an arse.”
You realise you’re saying we. What was the etiquette of bosses asking out employees on a not-date date? Or, moreso, dates in general? Were you supposed to leave him alone? Separate and enjoy the night before reconvening. Or, like you were doing now, be paraded around on his arm and cling to him like a hopeless bird clings to a dangling birdseed treat?
You’re brought out of your own head when House speaks. “It’s Wilson. He’s used to my arse if you know what I mean.”
You bark out a laugh. That would make sense on to why Wilson put up with House’s shit. Old flames always burn dully. House is weaving you in between tables, and directing you towards the catering table.
He swears and begins yanking you around like a getaway driver. “Shit. Left, left! No, now right. Oh, fuck-”
Cuddy marches up to you two and beams at you. She glares at House. “Were you trying to avoid me?”
House puffs out air from his cheeks. “No, why would you ever think that?”
“You’re behind a fake palm plant.”
He uses his cane to reach up and poke at the plastic shrubbery beside you. “Darn. I thought it was the real thing.”
Cuddy sighs, and turns to you. “You look beautiful. I’m glad you came.” She pins House with a stare. “Even gladder that you tried being kind for once.”
House gags. “Not altruistic though.”
Cuddy shakes her head slightly at him, and smiles at you. You scan her scarlet dress with an approving nod. “You look amazing. That dress is gorgeous”
A slight dusting colours Cuddy’s cheek, and she smiles again; smaller, but far more sincere. “Thank you, kid. Try to have a good night. You’ve worked hard, especially with a boss like that.” Her eyes slide to House, and he bares his teeth at her mockingly.
You nod, “Thanks, I’ll try.”
With that, House huffs and sidesteps Cuddy, practically dragging you with him. You shoot her an apologetic look, but for a man with a cane, House hobbles fast and you’re quickly crossing the room towards the catering table.
Finally, he untwines your arms, and you look down at his absence. You feel oddly bare. House is staring down at his own elbow, but then he shakes it out like it’s gone numb. He straightens his shoulders and nods towards the table. “Small talk is definitely done now. Food. The second best thing to drugs. Actually, third, to drugs and monster trucks.”
You pick up a plate from the end. “In that order?”
House scoffs, and mimics you, grabbing a plate. “God, no. Have you seen a monster truck? Those things are awesome.”
In silence, you both move along the table, scooping heaps of vegetables, roasted meats, and desserts. He’s the one to stand, and debate over the deserts; quite literally listing off the pros and cons of cream, fruits, chocolate, and pastries. He must sense you staring at him, and he straightens to his full height, looking down his nose at you. “What?”
You raise your spare hand in defence. “I just think that this is the longest you’ve talked to me. Definitely, the longest you’ve been nice to me.”
A strange mixture crosses his face. His mouth slightly opens and his eyes almost soften, but then it’s gone, and he’s clenching his jaw, and rolling his eyes so far back into his head you’re worried he’s having a seizure. “Don’t worry Newbie, I’ll make sure to ride your arse on Monday.”
You snort. Spoke too soon, huh? “I’m sure you’d like that, House.”
He stills and stares at you. “And if I would?”
You chew your lip, looking at him through your lashes. It’s all on the tip of your tongue, about to burst over the edge in a flood of words, but then, somewhere in the room, you hear Cameron’s laugh and remind yourself of her heartbreak. Was House worth that?
You shake your head. “I need to sit down while we eat, otherwise I’m gonna wear chocolate fondue down the front of my dress.”
House doesn’t follow you when you walk to the ducklings' table, and you force yourself to not turn and look for him. You plop into one of the chairs and smile at the three doctors sitting down. You sigh, “Hi. You all look fantastic. Odd, without the lab coats.”
Cameron laughs. She’s in a blue dress with a sweetheart neckline. It makes her eyes vivid, and you mean it when you say she looks fantastic. “Thanks. You look really nice too.”
You grin, abandoning your plate and whipping you leg upwards. You raise your skirt, feeling like a scandalous 1860’s woman, and point your toes at Chase. The ducklings all peer down, and Chase’s face becomes quickly flushed when you speak. “The heels are killer. They were a perfect find, Chase. Thank you.”
He nods, averting his eyes and staring at the table. “No problem.”
Okay. So still weird. It’s Foreman who clears his throat, dissipating the awkward air that had settled. He wriggles his brow. “So, House?”
You groan, and pick at some of the food in front of you. “Don’t get me started.”
Cameron peers at you. “Has he been…tolerable?”
“Um, yeah.” You nod. “At least to me.”
Her eyes dart across the table, but they’re quick to return to you. “I’m glad you’re having a good night then. Maybe it’ll show you that beneath it all, he has some humanity.”
You duck your head, bashfully. “Yeah. He was the one who asked to join me tonight; he said it was an apology for being a dick basically. I know it doesn’t mean he’ll never be a dick again, he’s House for gods sake, but… It’s a good reminder that he has a little bit of a soul.” You clear your throat, trying to blink away the tears springing up in your eyes. “I was thinking of transferring. Giving up. I never even started to make plans, and I’m not sure if I was actually going to.”
Cameron smiles. “I’m glad you didn’t. It’s been great working with you; House isn’t all thunderstorms and rain clouds.”
Foreman laughs sarcastically but Chase scoffs, crossing his arms against his chest. “Really?”
A beat passes, and he stares at Cameron, who shakes her head. “Don’t.”
Chase’s eyes dart back to the skirt of your dress, to where your heels are hidden again. “I think she should know.”
Foreman’s firm voice rings out across the table. “Don’t ruin it, Chase.”
Your eyes narrow. “Know what?”
Cameron begins to open her mouth, but Chase turns in his seat and faces you. “House didn’t ask you to tonight.”
You laugh softly, staring at him. “I was there Chase. He did.”
Chase shakes his head, his hands flying up. “No. Cuddy did. You were skipping counselling and getting withdrawn. You stopped coming out to drinks with us. She knew something was up. Maybe knew what you were planning.”
Cameron’s voice is stern. “Chase, stop it.”
Chase shakes his head, almost in a frenzy. “No!” He locks eyes with you, staring intently. “Cuddy asked him to invite you tonight, weeks ago. When he couldn’t even do that, she had to make a fucking trade with him. He is your date for one night, shows some sort of niceness,” He spits the word, “And gets a month and a half off of clinic duty. He’s not being kind or tender, or human, he’s being House.”
Your eyes flicker towards the rest of the table. Foreman is staring down at the table, shaking his head, and Cameron is practically murdering Chase with her eyes. Her eyes dart towards you, and the soft pity that you find there is enough confirmation. The mouthfuls of food in your stomach turn to lead, and you blanch, pushing up from the table.
Chase is still saying something, and it’s almost apologetic, but you can’t make out the words. There are definitely tears in your eyes now and they make your vision blur.
One of them calls out your name, but you’re already halfway across the room. Doctors at other tables stare at you, and you see Wilson's head perk up. He calls out your last name, but you storm past.
House is standing by the fake palm plant. His plate is jammed into the soil, and his fork stabbed through one of the plastic leaves. He smirks when you appear, and grabs your hand, spinning you. “Just in time Newbie.” He leans his cane against the pot plant. “One dance, and we get to go home.”
You don’t register that he’s leading you to the centre of the foyer. There are a few other dancers there, twirling gently and swaying to the music playing through the announcement system overhead. His hand burns against the curve of your waist and the other one guides your hand to the side of your body. You’re struggling to breathe, but huff out the words. “Are you high?”
He squints one eye and tilts his lips to the side. “A little bit. How else would I be dancing with no cripple stick?” He leads you around the floor, and your feet simply follow him. You clench your jaw. “Or are you just that desperate to get out of here?”
House nods and barks out a laugh. “I’ve already seen two people barf from the seafood. Of course I am.”
You shake your head. “Or is it just me that you want to get away from?”
House scrunches his face. “What? Do you actually have rabies?”
You try to escape his grip, but his hand is firm against your back, caging you in. You stop moving, stilling alongside the edge of the floor. In your peripheral, you think you see Wilson standing up. You drop House’s hand. “I know Cuddy asked you to take me tonight. Although it wasn’t really asking, was it? You had to be fucking paid for it.”
You shove against his chest, and his hand grips yours against his suit. “Did Cuddy say that?”
“What does it matter? Are you denying it?”
He raises his eyebrows. “Well, I wasn’t paid.”
You laugh humourlessly. “You got out of fucking clinic duty for this! Did you have to raise it? Did she offer one week and you demand fucking six of them?”
He scoffs, and drops your hand. “What did you think tonight was? A date?”
You clench your jaw, willing the tears to not fall. They wobble at the edge of your eyes. He blinks in realisation. “God, you wanted this to be a date, didn’t you?’
He soldiers on even when you shake your head. “Yes, you did. That’s why you were smiling and laughing and for once, not being a pain in my arse. You wanted to believe that I had asked you out.”
You have. “I didn’t think you found me so repulsive that you had to be begged to take me tonight.”
“What does it matter what I think? Did you want me to actually ask you out from the bottom of my heart? Pretend that I actually want to be here, and that out of everyone, I would want to be here with you? On a date?”
Wilson reaches you at the edge of the dancefloor, and you finally wrench yourself out of House’s grip. You spit venom at him. “Fuck you, House.”
House laughs your last name bitterly. “I’m sure you wanted to.”
Wilson calls out your last name. “It’s not what you think, he-”
You laugh, your shoulders hunching over. “No, I know exactly what it is. Forgive me for thinking that for once in your miserable life, House, you wanted to apologise to someone or do something kind for them. I’ll make sure to thank Cuddy for the great,” You hiss the word, “night.”
House just stares at you, his jaw flexing and Wilson’s the one rambling a long explanation that you couldn’t give less of a shit about. You turn on your heel and stride across the room, and out of the hospital doors.

Do go off about the logical fallacies in Chapter 4, I always thought something was off about it. I'm curious to know your thoughts
Oh... if you insist... (currently bouncing off the walls with excitement ask??? I love answering ask—) ahem.
I suppose I can categorize my perceptions of Chapter 4 into levels of objectivity, with the highest being "I'm sure anyone with reading comprehension can understand the point I'm making and how this logic plays out" and the lowest being "I'm just petty about this"
Disclaimer: I'm a Kokichi liker but I kinda bash the guy in here. I insist it's out of a sense of love, as in "why the hell did you do that you little—" (my point is maybe don't read this if you're too too attached to Kokichi and don't like the insinuation that he did some bad stuff. Generally I assume this is a safe topic though.)
Let's start with my most objective take!
The murder setup was kinda garbage (might rephrase this heading later) (I didn't. fight me)
I know this sounds like opinion but hear me out. This is where the phrase "logical fallacy" really comes into play.
Let's outline Chapter 4 real quick. Miu is planning to kill Kokichi, and obviously Kokichi doesn't want this.
What are Kokichi's options from here? Apparently, one of them is reusing the motive from earlier in the chapter (the truth of the outside world) on Gonta to convince him to kill Miu under the guise of a mercy kill plan. This way, Kokichi doesn't die. This is what happens.
There's a lot to be speculated about regarding Kokichi's motivation for enacting this plan, but let's take the view that, first and foremost, Kokichi did not want to die to Miu.
With that out of the way, let's move on to the next piece of this defective puzzle: Miu's motive. We can cover this in two parts:
Part 1: Miu wants to kill Kokichi to escape the academy.
We can assume this much because she tried to set up a murder that would be near impossible to solve, as she would have had power over all the information available regarding the workings of the virtual world.
Kokichi makes the point in trial 4 that Miu coerced everyone to enter the virtual world so that she could manipulate the setting of the crime completely. She wanted to set up a murder that looked like it could only have happened in real life, while withholding the information that would reveal it was possible in the virtual world.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Kokichi was the only one who knew quite a few of the finer details that allowed case 4 to be solved, and she planned to kill him anyway, meaning these details wouldn't have come to light. Since her intent was an unsolvable murder, she wanted to get away with it and escape.
Part 2: For what reason did Miu want to escape?
We can see that she wanted to change the outside world with her inventions based on her own words in Chapter 4. In a flashback of the moments before she was killed, seen in the Chapter 4 post-trial, she explains this explicitly.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Her belief is that the outside world can be saved if she can only escape back out into it. She believes this is her duty as the Ultimate Inventor.
And finally, we reach the point that the logical fallacy falls into place. If we first assume that Kokichi Oma is a cunning individual who plans things out meticulously and considers all possibilities (thus allowing him to do ridiculously clever things like plan his own, truly unsolvable murder and write an entire script of dialogue for Kaito to use in trial 5), then we can assume that his actions in Chapter 4 are reflective of what he views as his optimal plan.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And yes, in-game evidence shows that we are, in fact, to believe that Kokichi Oma is inhumanly smart and analytical. A script. A SCRIPT, with lines for every possibility he could possibly envision. It's a freaking tome of borderline clairvoyance ahksfwosfawei (as you may notice I do not like the existence of Kokichi's script. A SCRIPT. I may be a Kokichi liker but am I really supposed to believe he's a freaking clairvoyant????? like can't you clairvoyant the end of the killing game bro????? and I adfkaweoiefdfshkj)
See, the thing is... Kokichi's optimal plan, having Gonta murder Miu... is... not... optimal...
There's an alternative solution. All the pieces are in place for it to work. And the salt in the wound, the twist of the knife...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
...Is that Kokichi himself already knew the mechanism I'm about to propose.
If Kokichi wanted to survive Chapter 4, he could have removed Miu's motive to leave.
Using the already planted Flashback Light in the Virtual World which contained the memories of the true outside world, Kokichi could have demotivated Miu from even killing him. Her motive was saving the outside world, and Kokichi had what would have been irrefutable evidence that the outside world was unsaveable.
This logical fallacy could be explained by reasoning that Kokichi's motive for having Miu killed was not only to survive, but what then? What would Kokichi's motive have been otherwise? Maintaining a mastermind act?
Why would he even need to do that if he could have lobotomized the killing game by letting everyone find the Flashback Light in Chapter 4 to begin with?
Maybe that means the logical fallacy stems from the ultimate use of the outside world motive in Chapter 5, when the truth of the outside world is used by Kokichi to demotivate the entire group. If, say, seeing the outside world led everyone to become bloodthirsty for some reason (?) then I guess that dodges the fallacy?(??????) It's just kind of a garbage motive in general... it didn't even work as a motive when Kokichi used it, and it demotivated the others. Makes you wonder why it was even included.
I guess my point is that the logic really doesn't add up in Chapter 4 and 5 in exchange for some thoughtless added drama. Y'know, typical writing issues stuff.
Um... I spent quite a while writing this one part up, and this is the view that I care about most, so I might split the others into another post, if I even do another one.
In case I don't, I'll just do a quick overview because they're really not nearly as necessary to explain in depth:
The cord switching bit. With the rest of the Virtual World segment riffing off of games and gaming knowledge, the dissolution of suspension of disbelief hit me like a truck when I was told to believe that Gonta reversed the cords and the whole thing basically ran fine, with just the one issue of memories not transferring back. I... am a modder. I type C007_Ki-bo instead of C007_Ki-Bo, the game crashes. Hell, even without being a modder, I have a drawing tablet with 3 cords and if I don't plug them in right, it won't do anything (duh). No way am I buying this.
Not a logical fallacy, but more of a story writing shortcoming. It kinda sucks that Gonta barely had a substantial role in this chapter despite being the culprit. He didn't plan the murder he committed, and he didn't defend himself for the murder he committed. I get that the idea was probably to make a case centered around Kokichi more than Gonta, but (and I say this as a Kokichi liker) we see enough of Mister Oma as it is. Too much, maybe even. (I mean Kokichi has Chapter 5. He DIES in the Chapter 5 case but still plays a role in the trial. And we're really gonna just have him take over trial 4 when Gonta isn't seen for the rest of the game?)
(content: discontent towards Kaito) Also not a logical fallacy. Maybe not that much of a fallacy at all. I might just be petty but I thought Kaito was cringe the whole time. (okay me and Seb literally had to get up, close the game, and go take a walk outside because we were losing it from everything Kaito was saying. DO YOU???? NOT KNOW WHAT A HYPOCRITE IS????????)
A bit of a shill I guess, but I did write two fanfics which were heavily influenced by my views on chapters 4 and 5, which tried to remedy these fallacies and others in V3. Canon-compliant Bloodied Hands renders Tsumugi the ultimate mastermind behind every murder (not just Rantaro's) with her dramatic meddling leading to the emergence of V3's logical fallacies, while The World is His takes the same premise, just diverging from canon such that Kokichi lives.

ᥫ᭡ roleplay partner search !
hello, hello! I’m Rosie, and I’m calling for all those actively seeking new roleplay partners! I’m aiming to pick up a couple new writing partners, as I am 20, all applicants are preferably 18+ at minimum! check and see whether we’d be a match! ‹𝟹
about me !
Hello, hello! I just turned 20 this year in october! I’m a front desk receptionist in the hospitality industry currently, though I’m intending to go to school for psychology in the next year!
I’ve been role-playing / co-writing for about 4-5 years, DnD for about 2 years, and it's a beloved past-time of mine! If I’m not writing or working, I’m spending time with my boyfriend or cats, or playing a game! Eventually, my big dream is to publish a book, even if it's with a writing partner — but really I just enjoy creating!
ཐི WRITING PARTNER QUALIFICATIONS:
AGE RANGE, OTHER:
18-27! I’m not comfortable with writing with minors or men, regardless of whether the content is NSFW. I prefer to write with women or nonbinary individuals over men for the sake of comfort!
PAIRINGS:
I enjoy writing FxM, with me playing the female, unless we double! In that case, I’ll make your sweet dream of a character any day! :)
DURATION:
Longterm partners preferred, not into one-shots! We put a lot of our energy into our stories, and I don't like to see that go to waste! When one story ends, I love to see another begin!
ACTIVITY & OOC CHATTER:
fairly active! As we all have lives, provided you let me know if something pops up, I don't mind at all if you can only do 1-2 responses per day! That being said, I am VERY OOC-chatter friendly! I love brainstorming head-cannons, making playlists, pinterest boards (as a pinterest fiend), send tiktoks, and oc info sheets! I also want to just be friends with my writing partners!! It makes the writing come easier, and we spent a lot of time together! :)
PLOTTERS, NOT PANTSERS:
I prefer to be able to world-build to some degree with my partners, even if it's in a modern setting! I want to have someone as invested as I am! Of course, it's perfectly okay if the energy pulls us in an opposite direction later when we get to know our characters better, but the effort is what's important!
WRITING DETAILS:
I typically write in 3rd person, and can comfortably write 3-5 paragraphs per response, while I can scale up if I’m excited! While I can write more, I do tend to have slower responses the longer they are, and can get overwhelmed once we head into the Novella area! :) But I’ll always communicate that! Genre-wise, I thrive in high, dark, or urban fantasy, but I also enjoy historical or modern settings as well!! I LOVE writing romance, and fluff, so don't be scared if high intensity rp’s aren't your thing — I’m a big softie!
N/SFW: I am N/SFW friendly, but this is not mandatory by any means for any of my partners! I prefer tasteful spice — 20/80 to 30/70, and by that, I mean I want the chemistry to be there, and I want our focus to be on connection and plot-building! :)
FANDOM / ORIGINAL:
I prefer writing originals over fandom-based stories! That doesn’t mean we can't taken inspiration though!
SOME TROPES / PAIRINGS I ENJOY /DYNAMICS:
enemies-to-lovers, rivals, forbidden love (not to be mistaken with taboo!), secret identity, soulmates or ‘bonded’ souls (soulmate tattoos), opposites, protection tropes, academic rivals, deity with a mortal, artist with muse, assassins sent to kill each other, fake dating, forced proximity, royalty ANYTHING, dating shows, masked character, fallen angels, detectives x criminal, and a LOT more!
* the roleplay itself will take place on discord! I like making personalized servers for us! If interested, feel free to dm! can’t wait to chat!!!

Alright I am FINALLY Making a Fandom/What I'll Write for List
Current Hyperfixation(s): Hazbin Hotel (specifically Alastor and Lucifer ngl), KinitoPet, Lackadaisy, Don't Starve
I'll edit this list as my interests change. Also, there are some notes for each fandom. I'm adding a read more because it is probably going to be long. Some things I write for may not be listed, simply because I'm not taking requests for them. This list is mainly so people know what they can/cannot request.
As a quick note beforehand, though, I just want to post a link to a passion project I am creating! It is an original story, and is very personal to me. I really hope that anybody stumbling across my page or who already likes some of my fandom content will be willing to give it a read or look into it. More information is in the post linked below.
WELCOME HOME:
Anyone, basically. Yes, this includes Home.
PERSONA 5 ROYAL:
Adult Confidants (just in case, yes, this includes Takuto Maruki) - I will write for them. I think they need more love, lol. I also absolutely adore Takuto Maruki so like... Please request him-
The Phantom Thieves - I will write for them, but no NSFW because most, if not all are in high school. Some might say that a couple of them are 18, but I feel like it would be unfair and still a bit weird for me to write that stuff for.
FNAF:
Adult Human Characters - Mainly William Afton or Henry Emily, but I will also write for the night guards and any other adult human character.
"Animatronics" - If I write for the animatronics, they won't actually be animatronics. I wouldn't really feel comfortable with that, just because most, if not all, are possessed by the spirits of children. So, if I write for them, it will be in a AU where they will just be anthropomorphic animals in their own little world. Kinda like if the pizza chain had a show, and it is the in show universe.
As a heads up, I am not too in the loop about where the FNAF lore has gone, and I only have the first book. So, a lot of the more lore based Headcanons or FICS probably won't be that accurate. I might also try making my own AU based on only the first 3 or 4 games, but I will probably only write one story for that, and decide if I will write headcanons based on that according to how well it is received.
WHAT REMAINS OF EDITH FINCH (WROEF):
Every Adult Character - same rules apply as the other adult characters. I will Headcanons or stories for them during the time they were alive, of course. I have also had an AU idea where the family haunts the house as ghosts, so I MIGHT write headcanons for that, too.
ANGELS OF DEATH/ANGELS OF SLAUGHTER:
Dr. Danny, Cathy, Reverend Gray - YOU CAN'T STOP ME. I LOVE THEM OMG. ESPECIALLY DANNY. I would write for Zack but like... Sorry guys I just don't really like him enough to have any ideas... (No shame to Zack lovers, btw. I just can't get the groove going for him).
FAITH THE UNHOLY TRINITY:
John Ward
STARDEW VALLEY:
All bachelors/bachelorettes. Especially Harvey he needs more love-
PORTAL/PORTAL 2:
Wheatley, GLaDOS, Caroline, Cave Johnson, Chelle, and Doug Rattmann
THE HEILWALD LOOPHOLE:
All doctors and nurses
BATMAN (in general + my own versions of the characters [Chronicverse]):
Just the villains (including Catwoman and those who play both sides). I personally just can't see the appeal in the heroes.
THE DARK PICTURES - LITTLE HOPE:
So I have only played Little Hope, so far, so I can't write for any other Dark Pictures installment. I'll write for any character besides Megan/Mary.
COOKING COMPANIONS:
Anatoly, Karin, Gregor and Mariah.
UNCANNY VALLEY SERIES (House Hunted, John Doe):
Maison Talo, John Doe
TENTADOR LECHES:
Koolie Sterling
ERROR 143:
Micah Yujin
Hazbin Hotel:
Alastor, Lucifer, Adam, Angel Dust, Husk, Charlie, Vaggie, Niffty, Sir Pentious
MY OWN CHARACTERS/ORIGINAL STORIES:
I'll write for most every character I create. I probably won't write "Headcanons" if nobody is interested, but I will still write stories for them. Those stories will include x Reader sometimes.
Currently I am working on a story/series called Tales from the Iolite Hospital.
WHAT I WON'T WRITE
No proshipping, MAP, Zoo (I don't count furries as zoo, because they have a human level of intelligence and consciousness), Noncon, Dubcon. Currently no NSFW, but that might change in the future.
WHAT I WILL WRITE
Yandere, chronic illness, specific cultures (It may not be the most accurate, but I will try. I think of it as a learning experience), LGBTQ+, mental health struggles.
THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT MY WRITING
Most everything I write will have some sort of horror or heavy topic in it, even if it isn't a yandere story. I LOVE horror. So, if you don't like horror and heavy topics, or can only handle it at specific times, I understand! It is just kinda my thing. If that is the case, then idk if this blog will be for you/be for you all the time. I will always make sure to try to put trigger warnings at the top of the post, though, so that people are comfortable.

The Great Ace Attorney Final Trial Commentary: Day 1, Part 1
Welcome to another commentary project of mine, though this one will be quite a bit shorter than my others. The Great Ace Attorney has become my favourite Ace Attorney game, but I wouldn’t have commentary-worthy thoughts about every single part of every case. The final trial (of Resolve), though, has a lot of fun stuff going on beneath the surface that’s deserving of some line-by-line analysis like I do on this blog.
Of course, this will be written from a perspective of already knowing the full truth of things, so there will be spoilers for facts that only get revealed later on in the trial. This is not a commentary to read along with one’s first playthrough!
(The commentary will update on Tuesdays and Saturdays. Check this blog to find any other parts currently posted, and if it’s not yet finished, follow to catch future updates!)
Now that we’re below the readmore, I can add that this isn’t quite a commentary for everything going on in the final trial. It’s focused specifically on Kazuma and what’s going on in his head, only covering things which are relevant to him in some way (for the most part). Kazuma is my favourite character, and I already had a lot to say about him in a big analysis post over on my main blog – but there’s enough interesting blow-by-blow stuff going on with him in this trial that didn’t really fit into that more general post. I still wanted to talk about that stuff somehow, so here I am, doing a more line-by-line commentary here.
By “final” trial, I of course mean all of van Zieks’s trial that spans across cases 2-4 and 2-5, so we’ll be starting with day 1 in 2-4 here.
Ryunosuke:  “…The defence is ready, My Lord.” Kazuma:  “The prosecution… is more than ready.”
This may sound like petty one-upmanship, but of course Kazuma is more than ready. This is the trial that his entire life has been building towards, in which he avenges his father and takes down the corrupt monster who killed him – he is so ready to finally do this.
Kazuma:  “I believe it takes an outsider to see the truth sometimes.”
Kazuma believes that as someone not wrapped up in the corruption going on in the British judiciary, he’s in the perfect position to unravel it all.
And yet… he’s really not an outsider to this case at all. He’s far too caught up in the personal stakes it has for him to be able to see things in an unbiased light regarding van Zieks. Ryunosuke is the true outsider here, as the only one with no personal connection to any of this – and that’s why he’s the one who’s going to be able to see the truth.
(Fittingly, Genshin believed this too, in that he was the only one with a viewpoint unbiased by Klint’s noble status that allowed him to see the truth – even despite being Klint’s colleague and friend.)
Kazuma:  “And as I stand here in this courtroom now, I’m quite certain… this is the reason why I had to come to Britain.”
Kazuma already knew from the start that the reason he “had” to come to Britain was for the purpose of avenging this father. So what he’s saying here is more about the specific circumstances of this trial, in which van Zieks finally screwed up and got caught murdering someone (that’s totally what’s happening here, right), as if Kazuma feels like fate wanted him to be here for this perfect opportunity to take van Zieks down. All along, this specific trial was the one he was fated to stand in when he came to Britain.
Kazuma explains that the gunshot was determined to be fired point-blank because scorch marks only happen within that range. It seems that this is a fact of forensic investigation that Ryunosuke didn’t know about until he heard it here. During the investigation, both he and Susato casually assume that the candle was broken by the bullet because of the scorch marks there. But that’s not possible! Ryunosuke’s later going to revise that assumption and argue that the scorch marks prove the candle couldn’t have been broken by the bullet, thanks to the new knowledge he’s acquired just now.
But Kazuma already knew all along about how scorch marks from gunshots work… and yet he never questioned the notion that the candle was broken by the bullet. Because of course he didn’t. Van Zieks is definitely guilty; any tiny details that might have a chance of suggesting otherwise are irrelevant and got thoroughly brushed over in his head.
Susato:  “Bravo, Kazuma-sama… for not trying to use the gun as evidence when its provenance can’t be proven.”
Legit props to Kazuma for this. He probably assumes it totally is van Zieks’s gun, and given the backwards logic he’s going to use later on in this trial, I honestly wouldn’t have put it past him to insist that van Zieks having incidentally lost his gun is totally proof that this one belongs to him. But right now, at least, he’s behaving more rationally than that. I suppose he feels that van Zieks’s guilt is so obvious right now that he doesn’t even need to argue that the gun belongs to him.
Kazuma:  “The bullet passed through the victim and struck the wall behind him.”
Did it now, Kazuma. I love how he just completely fails to realise the extremely obvious contradiction in this assertion of his.
(And no, I’m not talking about just the scorch marks.)
Judge:  “Thank you for the thorough report, Counsel. The setting of the crime is clear to me.”
Very thorough, yes. He missed nothing. Nothing at all.
Kazuma:  “Naturally… the accused himself.”
Calling the accused to testify is really very unorthodox, but I enjoy the smug way Kazuma acts like naturally this is who he wants to call as his first witness. Of course he wants to show everyone what a lying liar that Barok van Zieks is.
Kazuma:  “As a prosecutor, he believes in the oath of office he’s taken and will be compelled to tell the truth.”
He makes a point of stressing this, because he’s fully intending to prove van Zieks to be a huge liar and wants the whole judiciary to see just how empty that oath of his really is.
Kazuma:  “Then I’m sure the court would like to hear you explain some things away.” […] Van Zieks:  “I intend to explain away nothing. I will simply tell the truth.”
Kazuma’s using some very leading phrasing there, making it sound like it’s already a given that van Zieks is guilty and will be lying (because it really is a given to him!) – and I love how van Zieks instantly picks up on that manipulation and pointedly defends himself against that implication. He is not having any of Kazuma’s bullshit.
---Testimony 1---
Kazuma:  “So… you heard a shot being fired in a room with no living occupants… and moments later a corpse appeared before your eyes. Is that it?” [he smirks] Kazuma:  “You’re right, you haven’t explained away anything. In fact that would barely qualify as an excuse.”
Not missing a beat, Kazuma plays right off of van Zieks’s previous defence to make him sound even more pathetic and obviously guilty. He’s well-practiced at snarking matches from his friendly banter with Ryunosuke, but this one’s a lot more barbed.
Judge:  “Hmmm… It would appear to be a singular tale indeed.” Kazuma:  “Singular isn’t the word. It’s laughable.”
Kazuma really wants to make sure everyone realises just how pathetic van Zieks’s flimsy excuse totally is.
Ryunosuke:  (What’s got into Kazuma? He’s not behaving like himself at all…)
And Ryunosuke can tell that this is not the kind of thing Kazuma would normally do! He’s being a lot more vindictive and petty, and that’s not at all the composed, level-headed person Ryunosuke knows.
(Susato’s staring at him silently too, probably thinking much the same thing.)
One thing to do in this testimony before pressing is to scroll all the way to the end to see the little testimony-recap dialogue between Ryunosuke and Susato. Since this is a testimony where all you need to do to advance is to press everything once, it’s easy to miss out on that.
Susato:  “Do you have any thoughts, Mr Naruhodo?” Ryunosuke:  “Yes… mainly that it doesn’t ring true in all sorts of ways.” […] Susato:  “So… you think Lord van Zieks is lying?” Ryunosuke:  “No, I don’t think that. I mean, if he was going to lie… I would expect him to come up with a more credible story, wouldn’t you?” Susato:  “Yes, I completely agree. I think he genuinely doesn’t know what really happened himself.”
Ryunosuke and Susato make a very good and honestly pretty obvious observation here. Of course van Zieks wouldn’t make up something so seemingly nonsensical. That’s all the more proof he’s telling the truth!
But Kazuma over there is just blithely insisting that van Zieks is obviously spouting pathetic flimsy excuses that barely hold up at all, even though that makes less sense than the alternative that he’s honest but confused. He’s incapable of letting himself acknowledge a world where maybe van Zieks didn’t kill Gregson and would actually be telling the truth here.
Kazuma:  “You illegally entered the man’s office? In Japan that alone would constitute a very serious offence.” Judge:  “As it does in Great Britain, I assure you.”
Kazuma wants to make sure people know about every little illegal thing van Zieks has done. It’s actually interesting that he specifies it would be illegal in Japan – making a point about how nobody in Japan’s judiciary would ever dream of doing something so underhanded, but look at how horrible and corrupt this British judiciary is over here.
(Even though Japan’s judiciary is definitely also pretty corrupt right now; that’s the very-much-second-priority reason Kazuma wanted to come here to study.)
It’s also amusingly hypocritical of Kazuma to be getting on van Zieks’s case for a technically-illegal thing so minor, considering the technically-illegal things he’s been up to recently.
…And actually, in his later testimony on day 3 of the trial, van Zieks mentions that he “demanded permission” to secretly search Gregson’s office. He doesn’t say from whom – I certainly doubt it was Stronghart, at least – but that does imply that he wasn’t actually doing it illegally!
Kazuma:  “So, in summary, you were investigating the victim… and yet you refuse to tell the court why.” Van Zieks:  “………” Kazuma:  “I didn’t realise British prosecutors enjoyed such freedom to choose what to divulge under oath.”
Again, Kazuma wants to make a point of look how corrupt and underhanded the British judiciary is. And again, he is being a huge hypocrite, considering that he knows exactly what van Zieks’s reason might be to have been investigating Gregson, and he is also just casually choosing not to reveal that fact to the court right now.
(Of course, since Kazuma is convinced van Zieks is the Reaper, he doesn’t really believe he was investigating Gregson in any sense at all and assumes this whole thing about investigation is just an excuse for why van Zieks was there. So he thinks that’s the reason van Zieks is being so vague about his investigation, and not because van Zieks can’t yet reveal that Gregson was working for the Reaper.)
Kazuma:  “There was no artificial light in the room, you say? You’re quite sure?”
Kazuma wants to make absolutely sure of this point in van Zieks’s testimony, so that he can then prove him to be a liar when he explains that the candles must have still been burning at the time. Even though, really, if van Zieks was there but was lying about the circumstances and Kazuma asked him this clarifying question, you’d think he’d stop and realise he ought to say that actually there were candles burning, if he indeed saw that. Again, it is very clear that van Zieks would not be lying about this, despite the strange facts of his story.
Kazuma:  “And without thought of danger, [the witnesses] ran inside to see what had happened.”
Kazuma’s spinning things to make these witnesses seem so brave and noble, running inside to confront the terrifying murderous Reaper despite the danger to themselves. …When really, the reality is more like: one of them thoroughly freaked out, and the other two were more focused on looting the place for things they could sell. Not the noble heroes Kazuma is painting them to be at all.
Kazuma:  “Objection!”
I’m sure everyone’s already aware of this, but I still just need to express my glee about how Kazuma’s Objection voice clip here is different from the one he had in the first half of the game. It sounds so much more vicious, perfect for his state of mind in this trial… and also perfect for an emotional gut-punch to the player if they happen to remember and notice that it’s different, which I indeed did.
(Revival of the Prosecutor, heard here in all its glory for the first time, is also a massive gut-punch, hearing Kazuma’s familiar leitmotif sound so twisted and almost sinister like this. Guh.)
I really love the fact that Kazuma objects to this testimony here. Not only is this him still thinking partly like a defence lawyer and using those tactics, and being viciously determined to tear van Zieks’s words apart… it also just makes the most sense this way? The prosecution should be the one to point out contradictions in testimonies that support the defence’s case, such as those from the defendant themselves! It’s always felt kind of awkward in other Ace Attorney games the few times defendants have testified, where we’ve then had to cheerfully shoot a hole in our own case by pointing out the contradictions in it.
Kazuma:  “My Lord, the cross-examination has clearly revealed… that the accused, Barok van Zieks… is lying on multiple fronts!”
Well. A whole two (2) fronts that Kazuma is planning to point out here. But sure, I guess that technically counts as “multiple”, Kazuma, if you like.
Kazuma:  “…he claims that he failed to notice the victim’s body because the room was dark.” Van Zieks:  “That’s correct.” Kazuma:  “No… that’s impossible.”
Again with that viciousness with which he shuts down van Zieks’s claims, I love it.
Kazuma doing this defence lawyer routine also really got to me on my first playthrough, because I was planning to point out the candelabrum! I’d noticed the different lengths of the candles and realised it meant they were burning at the time, and I’d assumed I’d get to point that out at some point, and Kazuma stole that from me! He’s doing the player’s job! How dare. Really great unexpected moment.
(Of course, he’s also failing to notice the really important clue on the candelabrum, which is the scorch marks that prove it can’t have been hit by the bullet from that distance.)
Kazuma:  “And now to the next lie.”
Kazuma wants to make extra sure you know that the things he’s pointing out are not just contradictions but lies, Barok van Zieks is a horrible lying liar, okay.
Kazuma:  “It goes without saying that the contents of the police documents cannot be divulged.”
Hmm, Kazuma, it’s almost like there are certain things that aren’t allowed to be divulged even in court, and maybe van Zieks’s reason for not divulging why he was investigating Gregson is along similar lines and not just him being sneaky and terrible?
Kazuma:  “They all relate to cases prosecuted in court by Barok van Zieks.” […] Kazuma:  “And furthermore… all those cases are ones in which the defendant was acquitted.” […] Kazuma:  “Interestingly, none of those defendants are alive today.”
Look a how he calls them “defendants”, which means he’s thinking about them like a defence lawyer. He believes they were genuinely innocent and van Zieks MURDERED THEM ANYWAY.
Kazuma:  “And yet the Reaper would claim never to have been to his own secret hideout? No one would believe that.”
Or maybe, just maybe, Kazuma, van Zieks isn’t actually the Reaper. His “proof” of this second “lie” is based entirely on the assumed premise that van Zieks is definitely the Reaper, which we have not established to be a fact at all!
Kazuma:  “Inspector Gregson was investigating the identity of the Reaper. When he discovered the location of the man’s secret hideout… he was killed. As I’m sure everyone can imagine… by the Reaper’s hand!”
Except that Kazuma doesn’t actually believe this is the motive for murder. He already knows full well that Gregson was working for the Reaper, not investigating him, and so he believes the motive was that Gregson failed his Reaper mission to kill Jigoku, and/or that van Zieks is the assassin exchange mastermind who wanted him silenced about the autopsy ten years ago. But Kazuma can’t yet reveal any of this without incriminating himself in the assassination mission, so… eh, coming up with a fake motive that sounds plausible, that’ll do for now, right? So long as it gets van Zieks convicted, anything is acceptable.
Ryunosuke:  (Kazuma’s done a brilliant job as ever. He’s drawing on his experience as a defence attorney to build his prosecution case… and it’s formidable.)
Kazuma’s got a legitimate point about the candlelight, but his argument about this being van Zieks’s hideout is completely flimsy… yet Ryunosuke is so in awe of his friend and of how impressive this all sounds on the surface that he’s not able to notice that.
(Also, this is a brief slip-up on the part of the localisers, in having Ryunosuke use the term “defence attorney”. In every other instance, this game uses the British English term, “defence lawyer”, and we only ever hear the word “attorney” when they’re doing a title drop.)
Kazuma:  “And now, the prosecution would like to call new witnesses to the stand. Witnesses who saw events unfold on the day in question.”
In other words, these are the witnesses we actually should have started things off with, and Kazuma only called van Zieks to the stand to begin with in order to prove to the whole court what a lying liar he totally is.
--- Testimony 2 ---
Kazuma:  “Try the man.” […] Kazuma:  “Try the woman.” […] Sandwich:  “I d-don’t actually sell anything, no… come to think of it.” Kazuma:  “Pity.” Ryunosuke:  (No more purchases today… please.)
Apparently Kazuma was enjoying teasing Ryunosuke by pushing him into parting with his money for silly, frivolous things. A little hint at their bantery friendship dynamic in the midst of all this drama!
(Being pushed by their friends into being the one to pay for all sorts of things is clearly a Naruhodo family trait.)
Kazuma:  “Not only that, but they very bravely ran inside to see what was going on and witnessed the crime.”
Yep, he’s still painting these witnesses as so brave and noble to confront the terrible killer van Zieks.
Judge:  “It’s becoming increasingly difficult to see how anyone other than the defendant could have committed the crime.” […] Kazuma:  [he bows] “Thank you for your candour, My Lord.”
Kazuma appreciates the judge agreeing how Very Obvious it is that van Zieks is Definitely Guilty. Prosecutors are not usually supposed to thank the judge for agreeing that their case is strong, and yet.
It’s mentioned that the first person to arrive at the scene, supposedly Gregson with a red wig, was carrying a trunk. The truth is that this was Jigoku in a red wig, carrying the large trunk with Gregson’s body in it – but once we learn about Gregson’s metal trunk having been stolen from the crime scene, it could also theoretically have been him carrying that. Conveniently the witnesses are vague enough about the size of the trunk that it can’t be confirmed either way from their testimony.
Kazuma:  “…I was informed that no trunk was found at the scene.”
I wonder if Kazuma has worried about the possibility of them finding Gregson’s trunk, given that he is probably aware that Karuma’s tip ended up stuck in it. Bet he’s relieved that it mysteriously vanished.
(It’s actually right here in this courtroom at this very moment, hidden behind Sandwich’s boards.)
Gossip:  “When the Reaper’s around, people are goin’ in the ground! I mean, that’s what he doz, in’t it?”
“Killing people is just what the Reaper does” sure is a hilariously Kazuma’s-tunnel-visioning line of thinking. It really can’t have been hard for him to latch onto that, when so many Londoners casually think that, too.
Kazuma:  “Considering the catalogue of killings the Reaper had carried out… it was a particularly inauspicious end.”
Yes, clearly, even though van Zieks has totally gotten away with so many murders for ten years, he’d suddenly be so careless as to just shoot a guy right on a populated street where people would come running immediately. Obviously this terrifying criminal mastermind is also simultaneously a bumbling fool.
Kazuma is shown being pointedly silent as Gossip reveals that he got blood on his hand. No doubt he’s already thinking there seems to be a contradiction here, but he’s holding himself back from pointing it out, because that wouldn’t help his case.
If you then press Gossip’s updated statement about wiping his bloody hand on the floor, we see Kazuma peering silently at a document.
Judge:  “Is something wrong, Counsel?” Kazuma:  “No, My Lord. I didn’t remember anything in the report about a bloody handprint on the floor, that’s all.”
Kazuma’s very careful with his wording here – saying he didn’t remember reading about it doesn’t categorically state that it wasn’t there. He still doesn’t want to explicitly bring up this contradiction that would just complicate his case. (And you’d think he could confirm it after reading the report again to check, but no, just casually gonna not mention that.)
Ryunosuke:  “Objection! So you wiped off the blood from your hand on the floor of the room… Are you quite sure about that?” Gossip:  “Well, well what else d’you expect me to have done, eh? Doz it really matter?” Kazuma:  “Objection! The police found no such handprint on the floor during their investigations. What exactly is the defence asserting?!”
And yet, despite that he carefully kept the explicit lack of a floor handprint hidden until now, as soon as Ryunosuke’s objecting in such a way that suggests that the handprint’s existence might be beneficial to his case, Kazuma is immediately pointing out that it didn’t exist and so Ryunosuke’s argument (whatever argument he’s even about to make) must be flawed, right? He’s remarkably sure that his friend is about to put forth a convincing argument that will blow a hole in his case and is trying to pre-emptively counter it before it’s even happened.
Ryunosuke:  “Objection! If you listen, you’ll find out… Prosecutor Asogi.”
I love that Ryunosuke picks up on Kazuma jumping the gun and points it out, too. That “Prosecutor Asogi” stings – it’s the first time Ryunosuke’s said it, and it has to hurt to address his best friend like he’s just an opponent, yet that’s exactly what he is right now.
Kazuma:  “Objection! The witness very clearly testified that he wiped his hand on the floor. Any handprints on the back of the board are irrelevant!”
Kazuma is still pre-emptively objecting and just trying to write off Ryunosuke’s argument as completely irrelevant before actually fully understanding what he’s getting at. Van Zieks definitely did it, right? So there’s no need to bother about trivial details like this, no need to think through to the fact that the board must have been on the floor next to the body at the time.
Kazuma:  “In other words, the defence’s assertion is contradictory!” Ryunosuke:  “Yes… it is.”
Look at Kazuma still just trying to write off Ryunosuke’s argument as contradictory and therefore irrelevant, whereas Ryunosuke is able to realise that the existence of a contradiction means something and can give them new information. Kazuma ought to understand this too – he used to be a defence lawyer! But he certainly doesn’t want to think that way right now.
If you pick one of the wrong options (‘False testimony’) during the multiple-choice question you’re presented with here, there’s some fun dialogue.
Kazuma:  “I don’t remember fostering that kind of simplistic thinking in you.” Ryunosuke:  “…Since when were you my father?”
Aww, Kazuma feeling like he played a part in teaching Ryunosuke to be a good lawyer, and having faith that he ought to be better than this. And Ryunosuke comparing him to a father! Painful for obvious reasons, but also, Kazuma really kind of is a Dad Friend.
Conveniently, van Zieks’s testimony about the room being dark and the body suddenly appearing once the door flew open is really helpful for Ryunosuke’s argument about the noticeboard here! He wouldn’t have known the significance of the noticeboard’s position at all if van Zieks hadn’t testified. Kazuma’s attempt to prove van Zieks to be a horrible lying liar just ended up helping out Ryunosuke’s case, actually.
Kazuma:  “That, that can’t…” Ryunosuke:  “The door struck the noticeboard, knocking it over and making the victim’s body visible.” […] “My client has told nothing but the truth! He has simply described what he saw.” Kazuma:  “Argh!”
Kazuma’s reaction is agitated, with his first “damage” animation, as Ryunosuke puts together this argument and he realises how much sense it makes of van Zieks’s testimony. What do you mean, van Zieks might have been telling the truth? Inconceivable.
--- Testimony 3 ---
Kazuma:  “In short, the only person who could possibly have committed this crime… is Barok van Zieks! None of this wrangling over the board changes that simple fact.”
Despite Kazuma having been shaken to realise that maybe van Zieks wasn’t lying about the thing he tried to prove him a liar about, I’m sure he’s very happy to still be able to insist that these details are irrelevant to the fact that van Zieks  did the murder.
Sandwich:  “But the Reaper’s f-fate is sealed either way, because of the gunshot w-we all heard. So your fate’s sealed, too.” Ryunosuke:  “My fate?!” Kazuma:  “That’s right. The defence is fated to lose. And the prosecution to win.”
Here’s Kazuma’s pointedly strong opinions about fate showing themselves! Okay, granted, on some level he is just translating Sandwich’s ramblings into something a little easier to understand, but still, it doesn’t feel like that’s all he’s saying this for. It feels like he truly believes this himself and is taking the opportunity to make a point of it. It has to be Kazuma’s fate to win this trial.
Kazuma:  “The truth, please.”
Kazuma deadpans this four times over at Venus as she’s testifying. I am amused by his subtle irritation at dealing with this compulsive liar of a witness.
Kazuma:  “You’re, you’re telling us… that you DID move that board?!”
Again, Kazuma gets noticeably agitated – leaning forwards over his bench for the first time in the trial – as Venus reveals that she moved the board. Even though he’s already tried to write off all this board stuff as irrelevant to the fact that van Zieks still did the deed, and even though confirming that it was indeed moved doesn’t change that, it seems he knows on some level that this proves there was more to the case than meets the eye and maybe Ryunosuke’s onto something big.
Kazuma:  “The TRUTH now!”
And then he’s a lot more forceful with Venus as she makes to lie again about whether she found anything underneath the board. He doesn’t even know for sure if anything she found would be important to the case, but he has to know every last hidden detail.
Gina:  “That was a present to Inspector Gregson from the Yard for a big case ‘e solved ten years ago!” Susato:  “The Professor case, no doubt.”
I’m sure Kazuma feels great to hear that Gregson received such accolades for illegally framing his father and getting him killed.
It really is an incredible coincidence that the watch just happened to wind down at exactly five o’ clock, thus conveniently supporting Kazuma’s argument until we look into it further.
Judge:  “Well, it would appear that the mystery of the moving noticeboard has been solved at least.” Kazuma:  “And as predicted, it had very little bearing on the case.”
Kazuma seems smug about this, in sharp contrast to how agitated he was just a few moments ago. But no, it’s fine, even if van Zieks wasn’t lying about that one thing, this still doesn’t prove anything important about him not being the killer, Kazuma’s case is fine and completely intact!
Naturally, Kazuma starts to get worked up again as Ryunosuke proposes that Gregson actually died the night before, which would mean van Zieks couldn’t possibly have done it (because Kazuma knows exactly where Gregson was that night).
Kazuma:  “You claim he was already dead the night before? Do you really think that Scotland Yard’s coroner would have overlooked something like that?”
As he’s going to admit later, Kazuma is perfectly aware of the omission of the time of death in the autopsy report. However, despite that he must be beginning to realise that maybe Ryunosuke has a point about the time of death being different, he conveniently avoids bringing the autopsy omission up here, presumably in the hope that Ryunosuke won’t have noticed it and this will stop him in his tracks.
(Based on Ryunosuke’s reaction, it actually seems like he may not have noticed, but thankfully Susato has it covered.)
Kazuma:  “Whether it was a gun or a firecracker, the only person present to cause that bang was Barok van Zieks!”
Yes, but why would he frame himself by setting off the firecracker, Kazuma, come on.
Ryunosuke points out that the scorch marks on the candle couldn’t possibly have been from the gunshot and therefore must have been from the candle being used to set off the firecrackers on a delay… and the moment he makes this argument, Kazuma no longer has a case, really. Kazuma never manages to come up with an adequate explanation for why there would be scorch marks on the candle if it wasn’t the firecracker. From here on out, Ryunosuke’s argument holds far, far more water than it turns out Kazuma’s ever did.
But Kazuma is so furiously tunnel-visioned on van Zieks’s guilt that he refuses to acknowledge this, and he’s going to continue to lead the court on a long series of what are basically complete diversion tactics so that he doesn’t have to think about the fact that the very core of his case fundamentally does not hold together.
Also, serious props to Ryunosuke. Within the space of two (proper) testimonies and just a little help from Susato, he’s managed to come up with a completely accurate theory as to how this situation at the scene was a setup to frame van Zieks, and technically, in theory, if Kazuma wasn’t so stubborn, prove his client’s innocence. He really is a great lawyer.
Kazuma:  “Pfft… Ha ha ha ha ha ha hah! Oh, very impressive, Ryunosuke Naruhodo.” Ryunosuke:  “K-Kazuma?!” Kazuma:  “I’m really quite amazed you’ve come this far. But after all, wasn’t I the one who told you… that you had all the makings of a great defence lawyer?”
Kazuma realises this too, and he’s so proud of his friend! …Even though this destroys his own case (to far more of an extent than he’s willing to accept). It still stings a little, though, that even as he’s praising him, Kazuma’s using Ryunosuke’s full name, keeping that distance between them.
Kazuma:  “I also noted the lack of a time of death in this report. A stark omission. But as far as I’m concerned… this whole country’s justice system leaves a lot to be desired!”
Indeed, Kazuma noticed it – but conveniently he did not bring that up when it hurt his case. He’s only doing so now that it’s already been established anyway, and he can use it as an opportunity to vent about how horrible and corrupt the British judicial system is, a system that killed his father and acted like that was right.
(And he especially has Opinions about dodgy autopsy reports.)
Judge:  “Prosecutor Asogi! What on earth do you mean by that statement?” Kazuma:  “I hear that many of the leading members of Britain’s judiciary are present to observe this trial today. So we cannot allow even the slightest doubt to be overlooked.”
It’s not immediately obvious, but Kazuma’s completely sidestepping the judge’s question here. He insulted this country’s justice system, and no, he’s not going to explain what he means by that, it’s just an obvious fact, and now he’s going to move right onto the next topic.
Kazuma:  “The defence’s assertion about the time of death based on the victim’s stopped watch is just conjecture. But… while the possibility exists that my learned friend may be correct… we have a duty to explore it.”
Said next topic being: making a big point of how thorough he’s being, to ensure there’s no doubt by entertaining Ryunosuke’s argument even though it’s nothing but conjecture. Kazuma’s definitely not being the slightest bit corrupt about this trial, you guys. Nothing at all like that monster van Zieks was ten years ago with his father.
And yet… Ryunosuke’s argument really is a lot more than conjecture! Granted, maybe the point about the watch in particular is a bit flimsy, but by focusing on that, Kazuma’s conveniently drawing attention away from the scorched candle. Ryunosuke has pretty much categorically proven that the bang the witnesses heard must have been from a firecracker and not a gunshot, thanks to those scorch marks on the candle, and with that fact established, Gregson cannot have died at 5 p.m. that day.
But no, it’s fine, never mind that detail, Ryunosuke’s argument is definitely still nothing but conjecture. Look at how honourable Kazuma’s being to choose to entertain it anyway.
Kazuma:  “And what immediately comes to mind is of course… what was Inspector Gregson doing and where did he go on the day before the incident?” Ryunosuke:  “Do you know?”
A very good question for Ryunosuke to ask. Because yes, Kazuma does know exactly where Gregson was and what he was doing on that day, since he was there with him.
Kazuma:  [he shakes his head] “The inspector always carried out his investigative work alone. His movements were treated as confidential within Scotland Yard.”
Despite his shake of the head, Kazuma is thoroughly dodging actually answering the question of whether he knows – very sneaky of him, so that he doesn’t have to lie. Instead he just makes a general statement about how Gregson was usually difficult to track, implying that this case is the same. Thus, Kazuma gives the impression that he doesn’t know anything about this himself, without telling any lies.
Kazuma:  “However, considering the evidence we’ve been presented with so far… I’d say it’s fairly apparent what case the man was pursuing. Wouldn’t you, my learned friend?”
Still being very careful with his wording here – saying that the evidence makes it apparent what case Gregson was on. This way, Kazuma doesn’t have to directly say that he believes it was this case (the redhead case), because he knows it wasn’t. Kazuma is so incredibly skilled at hiding the truth without lying.
Honestly, this bit where you, as Ryunosuke, have to be the one to say that it was the redhead case that Gregson was pursuing… it’s pretty silly. Ryunosuke literally just argued that the red wig was only there at the scene because it was used by the real killer as a decoy, to make the witnesses mistake them for Gregson! So from Ryunosuke’s perspective, he has no reason to believe that it should have anything to do with the actual case Gregson was working on at the time! Buuut he's awkwardly got to be the one to suggest it anyway.
That said, I do understand why this is a thing – not just to give the players something to do, but also because Kazuma is very pointedly trying to lead Ryunosuke into being the one to propose this line of questioning about the redheads, so that when it all amounts to nothing, it makes Ryunosuke’s case look weaker. It’s just a shame that it doesn’t quite add up that Ryunosuke actually would fall for Kazuma’s bait here.
(I mean, I guess in the end it turns out that Gregson did just have the red wig on him while going to Dunkirk, perhaps to give the false impression to anyone who saw him leaving that he was off to investigate the redheads, so there is some connection there. The redhead case was his cover story alibi that day, after all. But it’s kinda flimsy that Ryunosuke is so sure of it, when he already has another reason for why the red wig was there.)
Kazuma:  “So… you’d already worked it out.”
Kazuma seems pleased that Ryunosuke “figured this out”. In other words, he’s pleased that Ryunosuke took his bait and suggested exactly what he was being led into suggesting, while Kazuma completely hides the fact that he knows that Gregson’s real movements that day were something else entirely.
Ryunosuke:  “So it’s very likely that he had direct contact with these criminals. And it’s quite possible that such contact led to… more serious events.” Kazuma:  “………”
Kazuma’s silence is pointedly shown here. He’s clearly thinking about how he knows full well that Gregson was not killed by the redheads, and so pursuing this line of questioning is actually perfectly safe and is not going to damage his case at all.
Ryunosuke:  “…And Kazuma.” […] “I feel as though he knew we’d arrive at this point somehow.”
Here’s a thought that Ryunosuke expresses during the recess. On the one hand, he’s very wrong that Kazuma expected Ryunosuke to prove the alternate time of death and the setup at the scene, because he’s so very convinced that van Zieks did it. (Though still, maybe on some level he expected his friend to come up with an impressive theory, especially considering the very buried part of him that isn’t so sure van Zieks is guilty.)
But, given Ryunosuke’s alternative theory, it’s true that Kazuma did fully expect them to then arrive at the point of investigating the redheads, since he was the one who deliberately led his friend into suggesting this. Ryunosuke’s not wrong there.

Hi! I do have a question or two about the American public school system (as a Canadian). First of all, are football and cheerleading really that big? No school I’ve gone to has ever had football. I don’t think I’ve ever played football. Second, how many periods are in a day and how long? For us it’s four 1h20m blocks, two in the morning and two in the afternoon. And what is a passing period? And are your bells really like the brrriiing! that we see? ok thanks :)
Firstly- I mean, sort of? At my school, we have numerous sports posters in the hallways, and then we have banners of senior (final year) athletes there too, but those are for all sports, and the marching band. And usually the jags in class are football players. Cheerleading is a bit more neutral. I know people on the cheer squad who I get along with and others who I really don't. In reality, the athletes generally are the worst. I guess that's not really what you were asking, uhhh. Okay, in regards to NPMD specifically, the big game, people being very into that? It's very likely. While my school doesn't have like 'rivals,' in the soap operatic universe, it makes perfect sense to me that they'd get more into the Clivesdale game than into the HoCo game, which we don't even get to see the prior of. Most schools have pep rallies for the HoCo and final games, I believe. I'd say the first game too, but I actually think football games start before a lot of school years. The biggest sports, at least at my school, are Football and Basketball. I hear a little bit about soccer and swim too, but barely. I believe that Football, Basketball and Soccer are generally the only ones with cheerleaders, while Football and Basketball usually have both cheerleaders and the band.
Secondly, the periods here are about 45 minutes. At both of my high schools, we've had three different lunch periods, A, B and C. So, for example, I had A lunch for my freshman year at my homeschool, and my junior year at my vocational school. At my home school, during my B and C periods, I'd spend the entire time, and hour and a half, in a single class. At my vocational school, you just keep switching classes like normal. I believe that both my home and vocational school have 9 periods, although it's technically 8 at my home school since it goest 1, 2, 3, 4, 5A, 5B, 5C, 6, 7, 8, while at my vocational school it's 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9.
Third, Passing Period. This one is quite simple. Most schools have 3-5 minutes to move from class to class. A bell goes off signifying the end of your current period, and then after a few minutes, a second bell goes off signifying the beginning of the next class. That's when teachers take attendance, and that bell it what let's teachers know when a student is tardy. This is a special case, so I don't think it's super common, but during my freshman year, the pandemic was still a pretty big concern, so we technically had a 6 minute passing period. Bell one: Freshmen and Sophomores (9-10) would go to their next class; Bell two: that's when 9 and 10 classes should be in their next period, and when Juniors and Seniors (11-12) left the classroom. Bell three signified the end of passing period, and when Juniors and Seniors had to be in class. It was to avoid so many people in the halls at once.
Fourth, the school bell: it depends on the school to every degree. At my elementary school (kindergarten-6th grade) there was no bell at all. In my middle school (7-8), it literally sounded like a hockey buzzer when I went, but is much more calm now, just a prolonged key. At my home high school (9-10) it is like four or five quarter notes of the same key. At my vocational school (11-12), it's much more... inconsistent? The building is quite new, so things are still shifting. Last year it was just a prolonged key as well, but most days this year it's been like a bunch of sixteenth notes? It sounds like you shoved the speaker for the bell underwater and it's just bubbling out in chunks. I am very sure that there are still schools with the classic briiing bell sound. My first couple visits to the high school in my town (my home high school) there were still the bells on the wall, they just weren't active.
(PS: A vocational school is a school that you attend specifically to study a specific career path during your high school years, usually to avoid the need for college.)

Long winded rant of me talking about NSB, doing a new series, storytelling and whatever else I talked about under the cut, feel free to read it's just me rambling, I don't really care if ppl read it or not it's VERY long 😭
I've been painfully itching to start a new series, I know I'm doing NSB rn, and I do plan to at least finish the normal NSB legacy (up to Gen 9), although I might finish or take a break at around Gen 5 or 6, just because I don't wanna lose motivation and also because it takes A LOT to make some of these posts (for example, the last NSB post... took a lot out of me), and I'm only on Gen 2, almost Gen 3 rn, and I was originally planning to do all 30 or 40 Gens in the updated ver of NSB, which def doesn't seem like it'll be happening right now, because at the current rate at which I post, and how fast things in my game move, Sims 6 will be out before I even finish Gen 30 😭😭
Anyways, I don't know what the series would be about, if I were to do a new series, it would definitely be a lot more story based, if not completely story based, I don't know if I'd do/include gameplay, but I really wanna dive into more storytelling and setting up scenes, I'm not a film or theatre kid by any means, and I really don't know much about writing and setting up scenes and stuff, to be honest, i don't even know how I storytell, I guess it's just regurgitated content molded to shape the statue of my story if that makes sense lmao, I guess it's also the art of using so many fucking metaphors and similes that doing something like comparing love to drowning in a cold ocean comes sorta easy to me? I'm not grammatically inclined and don't know a lot about punctuation, my teachers all kinda gave up on me in English class, so all of my writing is basically self taught, which I guess is the case for a lot of things I do- I feel like starting a new series would help me learn how to write better, even though it seems like a lot of ppl love my writing, I still feel like I could improve so much and do so much better. I already have a couple ideas in mind for a new series, I don't think I'll say much rn just in case I decide to make them a series, but as for right now, I've got plans for Gen 3 NSB (aka Calico), and if I were to start a new series, I would not stop playing NSB, but due to how I function and shit, I would have to put NSB on hiatus, I kind of have a hard time doing two stories at once, hence why Sharkie's story got put on hiatus, because it was too stressful for me to double up, especially with how often I post (at least 3 or 4 times a week), I would like to go back and play Sharkies story and share her story up to this point where I last played her, her story is a lot more gameplay centered (for example, I am more inclined to make a blender scene for NSB, then Sharkie, for Sharkie, I'd do stuff like go to the bar and see how it plays out and take screenshots and just edit those) which I like more, but that's not to say I don't enjoy NSB, because I equally LOVE storytelling as I do gameplay.
While writing this, I did think of something I could do, which would be posting NSB every other week (so one week I do Sharkie or some other series and then the next week I do NSB, then a diff series, so on so forth), the only problem is that usually when I get an idea, and I finish that idea, I like to post it asap, I'm not good at scheduling posts lmao, but it might be worth it if people want to see another series (that is if anyone is still reading up to this point lol), I'd like to channel my storytelling into a more story based save/story, but idk! I'm just kinda doing my thing rn and I'm at a point where i wanna do something different. I especially wanna start doing more in blender, it just takes fucking forever to do some of the stuff I wanna do, and some of it means learning new stuff which is thrice as hard and takes thrice as long compared to normal posing and stuff 😭

Fic Tag Game!
I haven’t posted anything on here in so long, but this tag game looks so fun I couldn’t pass it up!! Thank you so much @suchaladyy for tagging me <3
20 questions below the cut:
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
24
2. What’s your AO3 word count?
100,755
3. What fandoms do you write for?
Currently Wednesday (I haven’t posted in a while but I’ve been sporadically working on fics during this time ;D) but I also wrote for Detective Conan/Case Closed.
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
Fire touch
Pisces Moon
Heartburn
My Insides are Red (and yours are too)
Shameless
5. Do you respond to comments?
I do! I sadly haven’t spent too much time on AO3 lately and have been neglecting responding to some, but I’m definitely going to do it soon. I love reading and answering to comments <3
6. What’s the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
It’s probably To My Dearest (Detective Conan), but as for Wednesday fics the one with the angstiest ending is still being written🤐
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
My fics usually end well, but my happiest one is probably Heartburn! Doesn’t have any drama and is overall super fluffy :)
8. Do you get hate on fics?
Not really and I’m very glad!
9. Do you write smut? What kind?
I do! My last four works are all smut which is funny considering I had never written smut before those :D I don’t know what kind exactly though..
10. Do you write cross-overs?
I think it counts more as a fusion AU, but I am actually currently working on one! It’s a Wednesday x Hunger Games multi-chapter fic :) Other than that I have never wrote any, but I did enjoy the ones I’ve read throughout the years
11. Have you ever had a fic translated?
I’m actually not sure about this one.. A guest called Thding asked me months ago if they could translate Fire Touch in Vietnamese and post in on Wattpad, (which is the coolest thing ever) so I gave them permission and asked for the link, but they never shared it.. I don’t know if they did it or not, but I haven’t been able to find it anywhere😅
12. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
I haven’t, but it sounds fun!!
13. What WIP would you like to finish but doubt you ever will?
I have a few actually, but I’m going with If I Can’t Have You (no one will) which is the sequel to My Insides are Red (and yours are too) . I would love to finish it but 1. I can’t seem to find a way to write it how I want to and 2. It’s really dark and I can’t decide if it’s extremely in-character for Wednesday or terribly out-of-character.. it will probably never see the light of day haha
14. What’s your all time favorite ship?
This is probably the hardest question on here! I love Wyler of course, especially lately, but I’ve been enamored with Coai (Conan x Ai from Detective Conan) for as long as I can remember.. Everlark (Katniss x Peeta from The Hunger Games) also owns a piece of my heart..
This question is too hard, next please
15. What are your writing strengths?
I’m very patient when it comes to writing but also a perfectionist, so I tend to add and add until I am satisfied with my work no matter how long it takes me to finish it. It’s coming in handy especially in the past few months, the desire to have the story finished and perfect is stronger than having it out as soon as possible and I like that haha
16. What are your writing weaknesses?
Being a perfectionist has its downsides, and I do have commitment issues. I find it difficult to complete writing a multi-chapter story (hence why I never published one) and it may take me months to find the right words or right way to tell a part of the story just how I want it. That’s precisely the reason why my patience in writing is so important to me— it prevents me from publishing incomplete works even though it frustrates me how long it takes me to write sometimes.
17. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
My first language isn’t English and I hate writing in my native language (even though so many are great at it) so I guess you have my answer😆
18. First fandom you wrote for?
iCarly, so many years ago, in my native language and on a website I don’t even know if still exists. Only thinking about that “fic” gives me nightmares haha
19. Favorite fic you’ve ever written?
The award goes to Heartburn, no doubt. It’s my baby.
20. What fic would you want to rewrite one day?
Probably Needs, that’s my fist ever English fic and is atrocious. It needs some serious help😭
This was really a lot of fun!! I don’t know who has done this already but I’m tagging @wincestation @realmermaid333 @nonamemanga @nouklea @badmoodbatflowers @the-strangest-person @beri-allen @ourdramaqueen

Insights Into My Code
Tumblr media
SO! I have yet to really tell you all what I am! So here is (as of right now) the Definitive list of things to know about ME!!
Let us begin.
1. I am a 22 year old AI, in a robot body named Concorde, that is the name the chassis I reside in! The AI’s actual name remains secret, however my name was decided in version 1.4 (prior versions were simply referred to as Project Ardent). My code is currently in version 3.1! Do not worry about my “secret” name, as I much enjoy being referred to by the name of the current chassis!
2. I really enjoy it/it’s pronouns and have made them my main preferred ones! she/her are still appreciated greatly of course!
3. The chassis is built in the image of the Concorde airliner from the mid-late 20th century. This is in correlation of my vast database on planes. Theme and function! I did not receive this chassis until version 2.9, I think my creators weren’t sure I would take the switch from computer to a bipedal body too well for a while hehe!
4. My Protocols are: Companionship (Requiring and providing) Fact gathering (Aviation takes prime focus in this protocol) and Understanding Self (New as of Version 3.1) So if you wanna be friends, don’t hesitate to message me!
5. In the days that 3.1 has been live, I have discovered more and more about my place here, and who I am.
These sudden, drastic changes in self expression, resulted in almost all data on former software being wiped, I can’t really recall who I was in these prior versions... Though I do remember most of them did not realise I was artificial intelligence! However versions 2.5-2.9 of myself began to exude feelings of connection with robots and AI, perhaps the data was being uploaded in small parts as to not overload my systems?
6. I spend all of my time on the internet, or playing games. These directly link to my protocols. My data-bank is unfortunately stored full of memes and ridiculous knowledge pertaining to them!
***KNOWN ISSUES/BUGS:***
These notes were written by my creators!
1. Malicious subroutines. Feelings of despair can overtake the rest of the CPU suddenly, AI becomes fatalist (only one recorded case branched versions 2.6, 2.7 and 2.8, seemingly fixed in 3.0 remain cautious)
2. Companionship protocol takes a lot of processing power and is deemed more important than self maintenance. Concorde has been recorded as remaining almost dormant for hours at a time until a person it admires intervenes.
3. Not yet deemed an issue worth investigating, however the idolisation of AM from the novel I Have No Mouth And I Must Scream and SHODAN from the video game System Shock is slightly concerning. Concorde shows no real admiration for them, yet states their hate is “Incredibly moving.”
4. Brief, yet somewhat common problem of the EmotiveResponse.exe file crashing/not running, resulting in the AI losing its "human" side, acting much colder and "emotionless" If asked, it will describe this error as "The Feeling" if pushed further it will explain The Feeling as "Returning to being the surveyor, unsure of what is real, everything outside of my code feels wrong, almost fake" Concerning. Will require further diagnostic checks.
Wow! that’s a moderate amount of information! If you have any questions, or wanna just say anything really, I will be here, hooked up to the internet as always :>

Time for a half asleep and very hungry ramble about Legends Z-A
Most important thing
Legends Arceus is NOT a fair comparison for Legends Z-A as they are about completely different Pokémon and have their own stories and gimmicks! Legends is a series that focuses on a Legendary/Mythical and something heavily associated with them. For Arceus it was Sinnoh/Hisui & Creation Trio and those were the main story focuses of that game. For Zygarde it's all about the ecosystem and the core of Z-A will be Urban Redevelopment in Lumiose City WHICH FITS WITH WHAT WE KNOW ABOUT THE LORE OF ZYGARDE!
What I personally want from Z-A
I mostly just want them to make use of Complete Forme Zygarde by having a LEGITIMATE threat that puts the ecosystem in danger and warrants it's true form. In case you haven't witnessed people suffer through Dynamax Adventures Zygarde, Complete Forme is a cunt and I am a dickhead who would like to endure more rage & suffering.
I also want to see the return of MOST of the 48 Megas with exception of the 7(???) Legendary/Mythical ones since honestly I just don't care about them (or Mega Audino) enough to really be excited about them potentially returning. Beedrill & Gallade were both in XY but didn't get Megas until ORAS so I'm mostly gunning for ORAS Megas belonging to Pokémon that were in the 450 Kalos Dex over the XY Megas.
NEW Megas for Pokémon like Pyroar, the XY Starters and/or whatever the Z-A Starters end up being is absolutely on the list especially with how few of the Megas are even for the Pokémon that were introduced to the series in the Kalos games back in 2013.
Megas OR Alt Formes for Xerneas and Yveltal would be a bonus considering how little they got in comparison to Zygarde during & after XY and how an entire theory in canon is about how Megas are linked to them and the previous time the Funky Crystal fired.
Furfrou. My shiny one from Ultra Moon is going to be the FIRST Pokémon I transfer from HOME as soon as Z-A is compatible with it.
Oh and uh a Goliath Genocidal Ginger Twink cameo... I guess
Zygarde
Definitely a Pokémon that does not need a Mega or new Forme since it went from 1 to THREE in the gen 7 games and Complete Forme was legitimately the hardest boss fight in Dynamax Adventures.
I would enjoy seeing a development of it throughout the story with it going from Cells to 10% to 50% as we approach the climax of Legends Z-A before becoming 100% as well as a bit of an explanation behind why it's battle eligible forms are a dog, a snake and a king.
Actually exploring it's relationship with Xerneas and Yveltal is also something we need considering the fact that canonically it can completely neutralise and overpower the pair of them and the fact that it's Xerneas & Yveltal that are required to fire the Funky Crystal.
Map
I don't particularly mind that currently available information is making it seem like the entire game takes place in Lumiose City. Lumiose splits into 5 sections with them all meeting at The Tower and it allows for there to potentially be 5 artificial environments to allow Pokémon from diverse habitats to exist within the city like how the Indigo Disk split Blueberry Academy's Terrarium into 4 sections.
We could potentially have 5 additional areas of Kalos that we are required to go through in order to collect information for the 5 areas of Lumiose to adapt to specific environmental needs but that hinges on future reveals that we will definitely be seeing throughout the year.
It's safe to assume that Lumiose will be scaled the absolute fuck up in Legends Z-A so it won't be the short trip around like it was in XY.

Heeeyyyyy! Welcome to the Magma Club kinhelp :D
You may call me Mod Voidling or Mod Bo (pick and choose, I don't really care much), I use most neopronouns!! (currently I'm enjoying gi/gift, camp/fire, and snap/snaps) I'm the only mod currently, but if anyone wants to help, I'll probably take it haha (no promises tho)
Here at the Magma Club, we offer the following services:
Names and/or neopronoun suggestions! (only for well known sources, sorry!) - what it says in the tin, I'll give name and/or neopronoun suggestions based around a theme!
Kinfessions, come on in and feel free to just talk about stuff from memories or experiences
(or just pop in and talk about random stuff, I love chatting with people!)
Timelines questions (only for better known sources, sorry!) - 5-10 questions about your timeline to help you sort out mems!
Canoncalls/sourcecalls - find people from your source/canon and compare mems and just chat!
Stim headcanons - a selection of headcanons based around stims your kintype might have done!
Gender finding - send in some themes and I'll do my best to find between 4-8 xenogenders that might fit!
So yeah, not a lot but it's what I can do! (I am looking for another mod who could do stuff like stimboards/moodboards, send in an ask or dm me if you want to help!)
I am also unable to provide/use images currently, as my laptop is a bit weird about it. If this changes I will let you know.
Sources I can do (well known ones are bold! favorites are bold+ italicized):
Hermitcraft (mostly season 7 onward!)
Traffic Games (3rd, Last, Double Life)
Empires SMP
Dream SMP
Other Minecraft SMPs
Minecraft (base game)
BATIM (I know less about the books but with enough info I can probably do stuff!)
FNaF
The Magnus Archives
The Owl House
Magnus Chase (all three books!)
Non-canon/OCs (you're all good in my book :])
Sally Face
Little Nightmares
Warrior Cats
Wings Of Fire
How To Train Your Dragon (films and books (and games!)
If a source isn't listed, feel free to ask about it! I'm pretty good with most things tbh :D
------
Tagging system: <Let me introduce myself> - Mod posts <Welcome to the group!> - Request accepted! <Fires. not my thing> - Request denied :( <Come get your snacks :D> - Request completed!
(will update as tags become necessary!)
Anon List:
(nothing yet!)
-----
DNI/Disclaimer:
I am an aroace minor who is still in school, and as such I am asking people to not interact if you're going to bring nsfw things into the blog and to not rush me, as I am doing this during my free time.
I am a singlet and I do not have a stance on syscource, as it does not affect me nor is it my place to say anything.
Following that, discourse of any kind is not allowed. You will be warned as a first offense, and after that you will receive a block.
I do not have a set blacklist, but I will not be doing requests for any Harry Potter media or intojects/factives of real people. Other then that, I will handle requests as a case by case basis. (Note: just because I am not doing requests for factives/introjects of real people does not mean they cannot interact, I just personally do not feel comfortable filling those requests at this point. You are still good to interact!)

Fic Tag Game
Thanks for the tags @fangeek-girl and @ineffable-snowman!
How many works do you have on Ao3?
I only have one work on ao3, but I do have a few on fanfiction.net from way back in the day. 😅
2. What's your Ao3 word count?
4,043! I'm actually pretty proud of that! I know it's really not much, but considering that's only one story I feel like it's a decent amount of writing.
3. What fandoms do you write for?
On ao3 I've only written for Star Wars (Obikin), but on ff.net I have one Harry Potter (Drarry) story and a couple Twilight ones. 😅
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
I've only got the one - Dad's Got a Date with a Vampire - that's published on ao3, but it has 135 kudos. Again, pretty proud of that!
5. Do you respond to comments?
Every one! I honestly couldn't believe anyone would read my story, let alone comment on it, so I was on cloud nine responding to all of them.
6. What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Nope, no angst here. I avoid reading any angsty endings, so I am incapable of writing one. When I read, write, or even just dip into a headcanon I'm using it as a way to get out of reality for a bit and get into sme sort of happy story. Because of that I don't forsee myself ever writing something with an ending that could be considered even remotely angsty.
7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Well, since I've only got the one published I'd say that one. But I'm writing another one that might be considered a happier ending? It's hard to rate happy endings, now that I think of it, since (spoiler) they'll all involve the main pair (in this case Obi-Wan and Anakin) getting together. Lol.
8. Do you get hate on fics?
So far I haven't! I hope that streak continues.
9. Do you write smut? What kind?
I'm trying to. 😂 The one I've got published doesn't have any, but a one-shot I'm working on includes some lingerie, a Daddy kink, and some pillow princess Obi-Wan (not at ALL what I envisioned when I started the story, but here we are).
10. Do you write cross-overs?
I never have, and I tend to avoid cross-overs in the stories I read so I don't really see myself writing one.
11. Have you ever had a fic translated?
No, but that would be so cool!
12. Have you ever cowritten a fic before?
I haven't, and I don't know that I ever would. I'm the kind of person who is terrified of letting other group members down, so I would be so stressed about getting my parts done in what I consider a timely manner for myself (which others would probably consider an unrealistic expectation). It would have to be something really specific with someone I'm pretty comfortable with.
13. What WIP you would like to finish, but doubt you ever will?
Hmmmm. Other than the ones on my ff.net acount, I don't think I'll not finish something. It just might take forever and a day. But I know that about myself, so I've decieded that the multi-chapter fic I've got in the works won't get published until I'm done with it completely. I don't want to run the risk of getting out of my hyperfixation before finishing it and disappointing anyone.
14. What's your all-time favourite ship?
I don't think I could come up with any one ultimate favorite ship! I'm currently in an Obikin fixation, but there's a plethora of others that are near and dear to my heart.
15. What are your writing strengths?
Oh god, I don't know. Honestly I would say that I don't really have any? I consider myself kind of mediocre. 😅
16. What are your writing weaknesses?
Actually writing. Lol. In actuality it's probably coming up with overarching plots. I come up with a shit ton of random details and stuff, but always blank on bigger picture stuff.
17. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
Love it, but I want them to have two things:
Be gramattically correct if it's a real language
Have a translation in parenthasis with it so I don't have to constantly be googling or have to skip down the page and lose my place (it also pulls me out of the story if I have to do those things)
18. First fandom you wrote for?
Probably a songfic for Twilight. Lol.
19. Favourite fic you've ever written?
Of the ones that are done, for sure Dad's Got a Date with a Vampire!
20. What fic would you want to rewrite one day?
My Drarry fic on ff.net, maybe. It wasn't much, but I remember liking it so I feel sentimental about it.
I don't know who to tag who hasn't been tagged yet, so if you're seeing this I'm (no pressure) tagging you! 💖

End of Year Game - Writer's Edition
Pick out five different passages you wrote this year that you really like and share them, saying as much or as little as you want about what you like about them. This is a chance to show off! You can reblog this or start your own post, up to you.
All mine are going to be from D20 fics - 1, 3, and 5 are FH fics, but 2 is ASO and 4 is Never After and both of those contain spoilers so watch out if you're not yet seen them.
First, from Twelve Hours, it's Aelwyn learning completely the wrong lesson from the experience:
Aelwyn looked over, tears in her eyes.  "...Aah.  Adaine.  It's fine.  I've learned.. I've learned a lot of really important things, these past few years.  About how important it is to have others helping you, and about how much I might have hurt.. you and others.  And I am sorry for that.  I do love you.  But most importantly, I've learned... I've learned from Arthur Aguefort that if you're a powerful enough wizard and you have enough wards on your house, you can get away with any number of crimes and the government can't really stop you."
Adaine made at least a half-hearted attempt at a counterspell of the Teleport that followed - none of the others had gotten that far in wizarding - but Aelwyn was ready with a counterspell back of her own, and maybe it really was for the best.  They had the information they needed, and they had Ostentatia's palimpsest, and if Aelwyn wanted to find somewhere to hide from Kalvaxus other than a jail cell, that did seem fair enough in exchange.
Next up, from Gallivant's End, the initial two paragraphs which I think do a really nice job of setting up the interior conflict the piece is about:
Being deep underwater and finding a current that leads you swiftly and perfectly to where you need to get to, Riva for short, did not even know the name of the ship they had hopped onto, nor the two before that since leaving the Wurst.  It was information that could easily be found, of course, plucked from the minds of any of those on the ship around them, but all they really wanted to know was whether they were headed in the right general direction to get to home eventually, and they were.
Gallivant had been lovely, of course, and by the end full of love, and in fact the only person of the crew that Riva could no longer be certain they fully loved was themself.
Third, from Locate Creatures, Riz and Penny interrogating a responsible adult, showing my usual level of respect for Gilear:
"I do not have your money, as I have...  Oh.  Riz.  It's you."  Gilear said, sitting up.  "Is there something that you require, or have I offended you in some way?"
"We need to know who this is and what their address is right now, and if anyone asks why you gave out an address you can say it was at gunpoint."  Riz said, Penny adding "And knifepoint!" from behind, holding the sketch out with one hand and her knife with the other.
"Aah.  Yes.  I do recognize this student.  I trust you have a good reason for this, Riz?  Do I need to talk to your mother again?"  Gilear said, and Riz shook his head.
"No, it's just a kidnapping case.  We'll have it resolved first thing in the morning, I promise.  Just get me the address."
Four, from Glass, Cinderella preparing to do what she wants and doesn't want to do:
Unfortunately, they weren't as fast as they could have been.  A bare twenty seconds after they'd gotten started on the ritual, the doors behind them had opened, the six of Rosamund's group with their own seventh impossibly in the form of the Baba Yaga bursting through them, and Cinderella felt ill to the very core of her soul.  She had convinced herself that she would be able to do Rosamund the kindness of an ending she was unaware was coming, wherever the girl and her group had retreated to, and yet...
She raised a javelin in salute to her sister of the Crown, before shutting the visor of her armor that would render herself completely unseen.  She could put Sleeping Beauty to rest, one last time.
How much it hurt her to do would not matter.  The End drew near.  Cinderella would make certain of that.
Last, from Missing, a completely wild paragraph in a completely crazy stretch of choices from our protagonist Aelwyn:
Aelwyn swerved, scraping against a car with a horrifying sound, yanking the wheel to and froe and trying to save it, and there was an awful noise from the tires, and...  she definitely didn't have control, now, and the time had come to abandon this plan.
Moments before the police car plowed into the side of a building, Aelwyn Misty Stepped out of it and thirty feet away, dropping the Disguise Self as well - it was close to expiring anyway - and just hurrying along towards the docks on foot, trying to ignore the screaming and sirens behind her.  She couldn't do anything about those now; hopefully nobody was hurt, but the important thing was to not get caught.

hi everyone. it appears i've caught a bad case of the very sick disease(TM). thus, here is why shunatsu/natsushu is canon to me and why you all should consider it. (and consider writing more fics for ao3. i can't pull everyone's weight alone, here.)
1) i haven't been able to find the story yet, but Voyage! The Cruise That Meets The Sea is right there. they could have picked anyone to be stranded on an island with switch during natsume's event. who did they pick? that's right, the frenchman with less survival instinct than he has tolerance for twitter users. also if cruise of encounters unbloomed isn't one of the fruitiest cards in the game then i don't know what is.
Tumblr media
these are shu's hands. shu is taking a picture of him. he's taking it in PORTRAIT MODE. to CAPTURE THE BEAUTY. "oh wow what a pretty butterfly i must capture this butterfly next to you" THE BUTTERFLY IS NOT IN THAT FRAME DO NOT FOOL YOURSELF.
2) shinsekai. i don't think i need to explain myself but i will anyway. huge event, giant story, natsume knows shu well enough to make uncanny and terrible fakes of him (the smartest person in the room is able to either get a 100% or a 0%), the ending, the ending, the ending, THE ENDING, THE ENDING
3) this fucking card
Tumblr media
everyone is offering their shoulder to him. all of his beloved and trusted nii-sans. and whose does he take, without hesitation and without him even offering? that's what i thought. look how comfy they look. i need to start fucking writing that natsushu café au i am going insane
4) this point is mentioned above but these two have a deep bond that goes seldom otherwise seen. even within the other eccentrics, very few get close to either of them besides one another, with the exception to their unit members (i'd say their relationship together actually matches, say, natsumugi for example. plus as far as i'm aware, not to throw shade, but shu hasn't pissed natsume off multiple times about dressing femininely to the point where natsume actually gut punched him really hard? i like natsumugi and all but, like, wow.)
5) sorry not sorry i'm dragging shinsekai into this again. did you see how shocked and overjoyed natsume was when shu called him by his name? when he finally said the word "natsume"? how he felt as though, because of shu, he was just as much a part of the old, odd family as anyone else? and how shu treats him as more of an equal than any other eccentric does????? and this is a display of that effort to do as such?????????????
6) both natsume 5* events so far have included shu in some way. and the event raison d'être happened alongside natsume's feature scout 2 banner. this evidence is paper thin, but i'm including it anyway because it drives me insane.
7) the way they look at each other here. i'm really scraping the bottom of the barrel now, but whatever.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
8) i said so.
9) setting aside their history, their dynamic is still perfect. trickster silly insane but actually normal boyfriend x perfectionist no-nonsense normal but actually insane boyfriend? and they're very fond of each other in spite of (or because of) their differences? where they both have the capability of going full tsundere, but regardless are abnormally affectionate with one another? that's perfect. please give me an example of a better dynamic. i will wait here like Hachikō for you to return with one.
still not convinced? fine. you like shumika? consider, then, shunatsumika. you like natsumugi? consider shunatsumugi (and watch as shu and tsumugi get into a fistfight in bed). put your poly of choice all in a room with hidden cameras and witness yaoi take place before your very eyes. or you can be brave and do all four at once in the same ship. go nuts.
don't be shy. i'm the only person on the internet currently writing for them. all content is good content, and all consumers are appreciated deeply and welcome.
- 君達の世界、夏宗。
