yourusername I fell terribly in love with someone when I was in my mid-twenties, before either of us knew who we were. It was a love that people write tragedies about, a cautionary tale told to children for years to come, a car wreck you can’t look away from. In the end, I walked away from everything we’d built with tears in my eyes and walls around my heart.
I don’t regret the paths I chose and sacrifices I made. The starkest realizations I’ve had about myself came in the days after, when I cried myself to sleep and pretended I didn’t know his name. I created some of my most beautiful music when I couldn’t enter a room without seeing him in the crowd. I grew from the experience the way forests grow back after a wildfire.
However, I always regretted letting go of him. He was the one I knew I could always count on, the one who held me in my darkest days, the one whose smile I searched for wherever I went, despite knowing I was the one who erased it from my life.
Ten years later, after I had already buried everything we once shared, I received a text from an unknown number.
What came next is well-documented in pictures, notes scribbled on coffee cups, and train tickets across Europe. While we may have been the right person at the wrong time a decade ago, patience rewards those who wait.
I found myself falling for him all over again. It felt like a homecoming and a rebirth at the same time. We had changed and matured in our time apart, but we still knew each other like the backs of our hands. At his core, he is still the man I loved, and something in my soul knew that.
Love is a strange thing. It is something we feel deep in our beings yet something we will never fully understand. It is untameable, maddening, and fickle. It is also enchanting, captivating, and thrilling. If there’s someone in your life who loves you, count yourself lucky. If you love someone, I hope they appreciate you.
This album is both a love letter to him and for him. It is an ode to his figure against the sunrise and arms around my waist. It’s a time capsule of carnival games, elaborate bouquets, and endless late-night conversations. I treasure each and every second I get with you, especially the ones we spent writing some of the tracks together.
My love, adore adore adore is yours.

Hunter's Comfort Food
I think, at this point, you all know my personal favorite Owl House headcanon. I shouldn't have to say what it is, you already know what I'm about to discuss. However, I am going to describe why Hunter loves what he does and maybe you'll adopt it as your headcanon too...
Tumblr media
It all started when Hunter ran away from the Emperor's Coven Post-Hollow Mind. He'd been living in the paranormatorim in Hexside since, building a nest and living on snacks. Gus, having seen the former Golden Guard living so dreadfully, offers him his lunch, which, among other things, included a sandwich.
Tumblr media
Hunter then helps Gus escape Adrian and the scouts, citing his reason for doing so being because Gus offered him food. When the illusionist questions him on it, Hunter says "It was a really good sandwich." As many have pointed out, Hunter's diet in the castle was probably miserable. On top of it, he was clearly malnourished, as several characters (Luz, Eda, Amity, Edric, Emira, Matt) have said. So it is assumed he didn't have a great time food wise, which is why he looked so happy eating that loaf of bread in King's Tide...
Tumblr media
Yeah, look at him go. Happily chewing on some bread and being pleased as punch over it. And this is where my HC came to be, Hunter and Gus bonding over a simple offering of food. A kindness Hunter had probably never known until then, combined with something that probably saved his life or at the very least made him feel much better. I feel like that sole interaction weighed on Hunter's heart, and it made him fall in love with sandwiches. After all, without Gus' sandwich, he would have never been able to sit down and actually talk about how he was feeling about Belos. He wouldn't have bonded with Gus and helped the younger witch when he needed it most. Hunter developed an intensely strong bond with Gus, a friendship and brotherhood forged in love, trust, and sandwiches.
Tumblr media
That said, I assume when they were trapped in the human realm, Hunter started looking into various types of sandwiches (with the help of Camila and Luz, of course.) Figuring out what the best meats and cheeses were. What kinds of vegetables go well with them (information he totally shared with Willow, obviously.) The best kinds of bread and condiments to compliment the other ingredients. I assume he learned about what foods he liked and disliked (boy loves himself some olives, btw.) Of course, this eventually lead to the ultimate creation. His pride and joy: The True Hero Sub. The culmination of his knowledge and understanding of foods that allowed him to create divinity between two slices of bread (well, shoved into a loaf of french bread, but hey, who's counting?)
Tumblr media
Of course, this is a BIG sandwich. I know, that's the one I made myself. It is about 2' long (60.69cm for you non-Americans.) It is not something you can eat by yourself, and Hunter would never want to eat it alone. Because of this sandwich, Hunter came up with his philosophy on food; "Food tastes best when shared with others." So I assume the first time he made one, he shared it with the others. Definitely Gus, his sandwich brethren, and possibly Willow, someone Hunter would be thrilled to share his accomplishments with.
Tumblr media
And this probably continued as he became an adult. I bet anything that Hunter has a series of sandwiches he brings with him to work. He maybe even wrote down his own cookbook of sorts for them. You KNOW anytime he had a new idea, Gus was the first person he told about it. He probably even made a book to make sandwiches to represent Cosmic Frontier characters (you know Gus AND Camila happily assisted him.) And that's my headcanon. A boy, his best friend, and a type of food that brought them closer and possibly even saved a life in more than one sense. In this house, we respect the Sandwich Bros. (Tagging @childlikegoblinqueen, @unniebeans, and @probablyhuntersmom, who I assume have also had this headcanon infect their brain for some time. *evil laugh*)

"That's so exciting! You're pretty much ready to get married now," Steph grinned as the group of ladies sipped on their tea.
"I know! I just can't believe that his parents would cover those costs like that. It was really a sweet thing to do," Mya continued gushing over the kindness of her future in-laws.
The conversation continued on about centerpieces and guest lists and other wedding things that (Y/N) could care less about. She just kept on nodding her head and adding a one word answer here and there; her mind not fully invested in the discussion at all. That was until she had to be. "Will you be needing a plus one, (Y/N)?" Mya asked, making the entire group's eyes fall onto her. She had to backtrack and think about what they were talking about before she could answer.
Emily cut in before (Y/N) was able to open her mouth, "I don't think she does," she said with a slight laugh, "(Y/N)'s part of the convent, remember?" the entire table cracked up at that joke, but (Y/N) stayed quiet, biting her lip as she waited for them to stop giggling.
"I will be needing one," (Y/N) said finally, making all of the women go silent and look at her with wide eyes.
"You finally found someone?!" Steph was the one to voice the group's surprise.
"I have," (Y/N) nodded while lying through her teeth. She didn't have anyone special in her life, but she wasn't about to let them know that. She’s the last single person in the group, but she wasn't willingly going to give them that upper hand on her.
"How come we didn't know?!" Emily asked in shock, probably feeling bad for making that previous comment, or so (Y/N) hoped she did.
"Because...because I just recently started seeing him," (Y/N) continued thinking on her feet.
"Really? How long?"
"Like a month or so," she hoped she sounded believable.
"Where did you meet him?"
"Through work."
"And we've never met him?"
"No," (Y/N) shook her head, "not unless you've come to my work."
"Well you better be bringing him to the wedding," Mya insisted, the two other women then joining in agreement.
"I will..." (Y/N) trailed off with a slight nod, "if he's available, that is," she added at the end. <More like if I can even find anybody>, she thought to herself.
"Perfect. I'll make sure that you're written in for a plus one," Steph announced, being that she was the one helping Mya with the planning.
"Thanks," (Y/N) smiled, but inside she was freaking out. Now she needed to follow through with this lie she'd created on the spot. But who was she going to find to be her wedding date and fake boyfriend?
Tumblr media
"Thanks a million for helping me with this, Ada," (Y/N) smiled widely as the door opened to show her brown-haired friend.
"Don't be thanking me yet...I don't even know what I'm helping you with," Ada laughed slightly as she stepped aside and allowed the other woman to enter her home. "Tell me what's going on," she said as they both sat in chairs by the fireplace.
"So I've gotten myself into a bit of a predicament..." (Y/N) started off, ringing her hands together as she looked at the woman across from her.
"And that predicament is?" Ada asked, intrigue in her eyes.
"I told my friend who's getting married that I'd be needing a plus one for the wedding," (Y/N) answered.
"And...?" Ada asked for more information, still not quite understanding the problem yet.
"I don't have a plus one," (Y/N) didn't try to beat around the bush.
"You need me to help you find a plus one?" Ada raised her eyebrows.
"Yes," the other woman nodded, letting out a deflated sigh.
Ada couldn't help but laugh. "This isn't a big deal, (Y/N). We'll figure out someone for you to take," she assured her friend, who nodded along and tried to keep her hopes up.
"Thank you, Ada," she said gratefully before deciding to share more information with her, "I've already told them that I met the man I'm with through work."
"Ok," Ada nodded before the women got into trying to think of a man from their workplace that might be up for joining (Y/N) to the wedding. They eventually had a list compiled of some potential candidates, which meant the real work was about to begin.
For almost a half hour, the two women discussed and debated over who would be a good fit for a fake boyfriend. Once they got to the end of the list, they quickly realized that they'd crossed out every name that was on it.
"This is hopeless," (Y/N) sighed as she fell back onto the chair again. Her odds were looking bleaker and bleaker with each second that passed.
"With that attitude it is," Ada remarked, making (Y/N) send her an 'are you serious?' glance.
"Have we been having the same conversation this past hour? I've not found one man who would be a good fit for being my 'boyfriend'," (Y/N) stated, using air quotations around the final word of her sentence.
"What if..." Ada trailed off after a few moments had passed. (Y/N) sat up in her seat and waited intently for the other woman to continue. "What if I ask one of my brothers to go with you?" she gave another suggestion.
(Y/N) thought about it for a moment. She'd met each one of Ada's four brothers at one time or the other throughout the time that she'd known Ada, but she hadn't been able to spend enough time with them to consider them friends...or even acquaintances for that matter. But despite that, she really needed a date for this wedding. "Go on," she prompted Ada to continue, sitting her chin on her fist as she waited for the other woman to explain her idea.
Ada grinned, happy that (Y/N) was interested in her suggestion. Now she just had to decide which brother would fit the criteria best. "Well John's married, and Finn's a bit out of your age range..." she started, the two women laughing at the fact that she'd even brought up her thirteen-year-old brother as an option, "Arthur's sweet, but I wouldn't trust him to keep up the act...he's a bit dense when it comes to plans like that. So that leaves..."
"Thomas, isn't it?" (Y/N) filled in the blank before Ada was able to, her eyebrows raised slightly as she waited for the answer.
"Yes, Thomas," Ada nodded her head, "or Tommy, or Tom...all three work for him. I think he'd be the best choice for your plan...if I'm able to get him away from his bloody office for more than five minutes," she finished off by mumbling the last half of her statement.
"Could you please try to?" (Y/N) just about begged, "tell him how dire of a situation this is."
Ada chuckled at her friend's desperation, "I will explain the situation to him. Fair warning, though...he may be up for it, or he may shoot it down. It really depends on the type of mood he's in when I speak to him."
"Speak to him on a good day, please?" (Y/N) asked with a pout that quickly turned into a grin due to the other woman's facial expression.
"I will try," Ada assured her once her fit of laughter was over.
"Thank you, Ada," (Y/N) smiled widely, having a good feeling about the situation now.
Tumblr media
(Y/N) took a deep breath and made sure that her hair was in place before she exited the room that she got ready in. She grabbed hold of the staircase's railing but stopped, hearing a man's voice come from the foyer. "Ada, please," he said, sounding like he was becoming annoyed with what she was doing.
"I just want to make sure you look nice for (Y/N)," Ada responded.
"I'm sure I do," he brushed her off yet again, and as he finished speaking, his eyes fell onto (Y/N).
Ada was still in the process of making sure that the navy blue pocket square was sitting perfectly in the upper pocket of his charcoal colored suit jacket. (Y/N) froze again as she and Tommy's eyes connected, immediately wanting to shrink into herself as she felt his eyes trace over her body.
"(Y/N), you're ready!" Ada cheered once she realized that her friend had joined them.
"Yeah, I'll...I'll be right back," (Y/N) stammered out, holding up her index finger before she quickly turned and rushed up the stairs. She didn't know what to do now. There was no way that she could step out with a man as handsome as he was...her friends would never believe her lies.
In the midst of her thoughts, she didn't even notice Ada come into the room she'd retreated to. "Everything ok?" her friend asked with a concerned look on her face.
"No," (Y/N) answered truthfully, shaking her head, "no, everything's not ok."
"What is it?" Ada quirked an eyebrow.
"Look at me, Ada! I don't nearly look like I'm supposed to be on the arm of a man who looks as good as he does!" she exclaimed in a whisper, making sure that Tommy didn't hear what she had to say.
Ada let out a breath before shaking her head slightly. "You look beautiful, (Y/N)...and if anything, you're way out of his league," she said with a slight grin, taking any chance she could to rag on her older brother.
"You think?" (Y/N) asked with slightly raised eyebrows and a hopeful expression.
"I know," Ada assured her with a smile before she patted her elbow, "now come on...I've already explained to Tommy what's going on, and I don't want for you to be late," she said as she then began leading her out of the room and back down the steps.
(Y/N) followed, a shy smile on her face as she stopped in front of Tommy. "Hi, Tommy," she greeted him softly, wanting to kick herself for she sounded like a teenager getting ready to go on her first date.
"Hi, (Y/N)," Tommy returned the greeting, "are you ready to leave?" he asked then.
"Yes, I am," (Y/N) nodded, accepting the small clutch that Ada gave her before she allowed Tommy to lead them out to his car.
"You look very nice, might I add," he stated once they were both in the front seats of the car.
"Thank you," (Y/N) responded, trying so hard to stop the blush from creeping onto her cheeks. She took a deep breath and tried to center herself, knowing that she needed to control her emotions and reactions if she was going to make this look believable.
Tumblr media
"Enjoy," one of the doormen said as (Y/N) and Tommy approached the entrance of the reception hall.
"Thank you," (Y/N) smiled at him, holding onto Tommy's hand as he helped her ascend the steps, making sure she wouldn't trip on her dress. Once they were in the lobby area, they both looked around. This place was extremely elegant, much like the wedding chapel was. Mya and Mitchell must've splurged a great deal of money on this affair, (Y/N) thought to herself. "Come this way, Tommy," (Y/N) said to her date, starting off to the left as she noticed the seating arrangements' display. Tommy listened, resting his hand on the small of her back as he walked beside her. (Y/N) was getting better at managing her outward reactions to his innocent touches, but they still made her giddy inside.
Soon enough, they found themselves at the table they'd been assigned to. Emily and her fiancé were already at their seats, and the second she saw (Y/N) arrive, her eyes went wide. "(Y/N)! Hi!" she cheerily greeted her with a wide smile as she tried to hide her surprise. She didn't think that her friend would actually be bringing someone to the wedding.
"Hi, Emily," (Y/N) greeted with a smile as she and Tommy both sat down in the seats their name cards were sitting in front of. "This is Tommy, my boyfriend," she then introduced her date.
"It's nice to meet you, Tommy," Emily smiled as she shamelessly looked him up and down, "I didn't actually believe that you were real when (Y/N) first brought you up...but here you are," she said then, laughing once she was finished.
"Here I am indeed," Tommy responded with a slight grin, glancing at (Y/N) just briefly before his eyes fell back on the brunette woman, "it's nice to meet you, Emily," he ended his statement with a greeting.
The opening processions of the wedding party started before anything else could be said. As Mya and Mitchell were being announced for the first time as a married couple, Emily leaned over to (Y/N). "We are all so talking about this later," she whispered, and (Y/N) instantly knew that she was referring to Tommy. She only nodded before joining in with the rest of the party-goers cheering for the newlyweds.
Tumblr media
Emily stayed true to her statement. The first chance she got, she made sure to pull (Y/N) over to where Mya and Steph were already gathered. (Y/N) hoped that Tommy, who had just gone to get drinks for the two of them, would be able to find her amidst the crowds.
"Have you seen him?!" Emily started the conversation, looking between Mya and Steph.
"Seen who?" Steph asked for the both of them.
"(Y/N)'s boyfriend. He's actually a real person...I've met him just before," Emily said, a wide grin on her face as she leaned in closer to the other two women, "and he's hot," she gawked in an exaggerated whisper, her grin growing. (Y/N) only rolled her eyes at her friend's statements.
"Where is he?" Mya asked, craning her neck as she tried to look around the room for this man.
"He went to get us drinks. I hope that he's able to find me since Emily's swept me off to see you guys," (Y/N) responded, sending Emily a slight side glance. If only her friend knew how uncomfortable she felt at the moment...although she really should have expected this to happen.
The women didn't have to wait long for Tommy to show up. Only a few minutes after (Y/N) finished talking, he appeared at her side. "Here's your drink, love," Tommy stated, handing her the champagne flute he'd brought for her.
"Thanks," she smiled at him, "how did you manage to find me?" she asked then, genuinely curious.
"I asked Michael. He told me you went with Emily," he responded, nodding to the woman as he mentioned her and her fiancé.
"That makes sense," Emily cut into their conversation before she stepped closer to the couple. "You should introduce your boyfriend now, (Y/N)," she said with a grin as she nodded over to her other two friends.
(Y/N) nodded before stepping closer to Tommy's side. "Yeah, sure. Uh, Tommy, these are my friends, Steph and Mya. Ladies, this is my boyfriend, Tommy," she awkwardly did the introductions then, not really sure how to go about it.
"Tommy Shelby," Tommy introduced himself as he stepped forward and extended his hand to both of the women, who both seemed to be a little awe-struck. He returned back to (Y/N)'s side once he was finished shaking their hands.
"What do you do for a living, Tommy?" Steph was the first to start the questions.
"I'm a businessman. I work in the import, export business," he responded, taking a sip of his whiskey.
"(Y/N) I thought you said you met him at work..." Mya commented, her eyebrows furrowed slightly. Oh no.
(Y/N)'s mouth opened slightly as she tried to find a way to connect imports and exports to the work she did as a seamstress. She didn't have the chance to tell her lie though, because Tommy was already ready with his answer: "she's been generous enough to lend some of her extra time to me...helps me with the logs and whatnot when she can," he covered for the two of them. His believable response almost made (Y/N) let out a sigh of relief, but she knew she had to keep herself composed.
And it seemed as though the women believed it. "How come we've not met you before?" Emily was the next to ask.
"Well, we've been busy, and..."
"I have a habit of keeping my personal life private, so you'll have to forgive me on that one," Tommy stepped in, making (Y/N) silently thank him once more for picking off where she'd trailed off.
"Oh, it's forgiven, Mr. Shelby...you just need to make sure that you show your face around us from time to time now," Steph grinned. Tommy only chuckled and nodded at her statement before he gently pressed his fingers into the side of (Y/N)'s waist.
Mya's mother came into the conversation before anything else could be said. She whispered something into her daughter's ear before walking away. "I've just been told that we're going to be doing the first dance shortly," she announced to her friends, who all nodded and decided to go back to their partners and wait for the dance to be called. Once they were alone, (Y/N) sent Tommy an appreciative look, to which he responded with a smile of his own.
"The bride and groom will now share their first dance!" the bandmaster announced over the speakers, signalling for everyone to circle around the dancefloor. (Y/N) stood by Tommy as they watched the couple slow dance. She finally started to feel herself calming down from the interrogation she'd just gone through and let herself slip into her thoughts on how this evening was going. She was so engulfed in them that she didn't even hear the opportunity for other couples to join the floor being announced.
"Would you like to share a dance, (Y/N)?" Tommy's voice pulled her out of her head, making her glance down at his outstretched hand before her eyes found his again.
Immediately she said the first thought that came to mind, "oh I'm sure the ladies aren't watching...we don't need to dance."
"I'd still like to share a dance with you, (Y/N)," he couldn't help but chuckle at her response, his hand not yet moving. (Y/N) glanced down at it again before placing her hand into it and allowing him to lead her to the dancefloor. A sheepish smile formed on her face as they stopped amongst the other couples and assumed the proper slow dancing position. She couldn't stop her cheeks from heating up as their eyes locked yet again. She immediately found herself getting lost in his ocean blues and wondering how she'd managed to get him, of all people, to agree to doing this for her.
"Thank you for doing this for me, Tommy," she said softly after they'd been swaying for a few minutes.
"Don't mention it, love," he answered with a smile, "I've been having a very lovely time."
"I probably looked like such a fool not knowing what to say to their questions...of course they're going to question how a seamstress managed to get with someone whose suits are better than anything she could ever dream of making, and me not knowing what to say probably didn't..."
"Hey...go easy on yourself, eh?" Tommy stopped her rambling with his eyebrows raised slightly. "I think you held it together rather well, and they seemed to believe my answers, so there's nothing to worry about," he assured her, his words making her send an appreciative smile in response. "Why do their reactions matter so much?" he asked her then.
"Because I've always been the one who's behind...on everything. Jobs, money, significant others. For once, I wanted to be seen as equal to them...even if it meant lying about it," she confessed, feeling rather foolish for saying it as the words left her mouth.
"Well I think you're doing pretty well for yourself," he told her, his words making her cheeks heat up yet again. She matched her eyes with his again, and immediately it felt different than it did in previous times. It was like there was now something between them...something she couldn't quite put into words.
"Thank you, Tommy," she smiled at him before breaking their gaze so that she could rest her cheek on his shoulder. She knew that the move was rather risky, but Tommy responded positively, tightening his hold on her waist while his other hand squeezed hers gently.
She tried to calm her wildly beating heart, inhaling his scent as they continued to sway slowly. Maybe this wasn't going as bad as she thought it was.
Tumblr media
After the dancing came some more questions from Emily, Steph and Mya. (Y/N) was once again thankful that Tommy was quick on his feet with answers, or else she would have surely given the whole thing up with her blubbering responses. She also made a mental note to thank him again before the night was over.
"Hey, come with me," Tommy said some time later, after the women had finally let them be.
"Where?" (Y/N) asked, standing up anyway and taking hold of his hand that was outstretched in her direction.
"Outside," he answered simply before leading her down a few hallways, "I need a smoke," he finished as he then opened one of the doors that led out to a lit up garden area.
"Are we allowed out here?" (Y/N) questioned as she looked around in awe. She wondered why Mya and Mitchell didn't choose to use this space as well. It was awfully beautiful and intimate.
"Why not?" Tommy shrugged as he worked on lighting his cigarette with a match. He took a drag from it before offering it to (Y/N). After she accepted it and brought it up to her lips, he pulled another out of its pack for himself.
They smoked in silence for a few minutes then. Tommy was the first to speak up after he tossed his cigarette to the ground and stamped it out. "Have you enjoyed yourself tonight?" he asked (Y/N) as he turned to face her.
"I have," (Y/N) responded with a slight nod and a smile, "have you?" she flipped the question back on him.
"Very much," he answered with a grin, "it's been an honor to be your fake boyfriend."
The second part of his sentence made (Y/N) laugh, which in turn made him chuckle. "It makes me happy to know that I didn't drag you here against your will," she said, her eyes finding his after she threw her cigarette to the ground, "and it's very kind of you to've done what you have for me."
"Don't mention it, love," Tommy brushed her gratitude off, "and like I said...I really enjoyed myself," he reminded her, stepping ever-so-slightly closer to her.
(Y/N) felt her body tense at the feeling of his proximity. She'd been trying to play off his touches as innocent; his closeness as part of the act all night, but now…now that they were alone, she wasn't quite sure if all of it was for show. "They're probably wondering where we've gone off to," she managed to get out the words stuck in her throat.
"Let 'em wonder," he dismissed her worries, stepping even closer to her as he reached out and gently stroked her cheek. "They probably think we're off...doing what lovers do."
(Y/N) tried to keep herself grounded and not lose her mind at the feeling of his hand on her skin. She couldn't help but flit her eyes to his lips as she swallowed thickly. "What do lovers do?" she asked him then, immediately wanting to kick herself for sounding so naïve and child-like.
Tommy only chuckled at her innocent question. "Can I kiss you, (Y/N)?" he asked her, not wanting to spook her by just going forward with it.
(Y/N) nodded as best she could with his hand on her cheek, her eyes widening slightly as she matched them with his. "You can," she whispered, and that was all Tommy needed to lean in and match his lips to hers. She placed her hands on his shoulders to steady herself as she got looped into the type of kiss that she was sure only happened in the pictures. Her mind was swimming and she couldn’t help but let out a slight whimper when Tommy pulled away too early for her liking.
“This may not be necessary, since we’re technically already dating...” Tommy trailed off with a slight grin as he rested his forehead against hers, “but would you like to go out on a proper date with me?” he asked her, his eyes locking onto hers as he waited for his response.
(Y/N) laughed slightly at the first part of his statement before she nodded her head with a smile. “I think I’d like that,” she agreed to his proposal, feeling giddy at the prospect of what was to come.
Somehow, over the course of the night, (Y/N) and Tommy had gone from fake dating to thinking up the details for their actual first date. (Y/N) also had the answer to her earlier wonderings...the subtle things happening between her and Tommy were most definitely not just for show.

This is Going Swimmingly
Pairing: Qui-Gon Jinn x f!reader
Rating: E. Minors DNI!
Word Count: 971
Summary: Qui-Gon Jinn helps you shop for swimsuits
Tumblr media
Warnings: oral f!receiving, body confidence issues, Qui-Gon being an angel of a man
A/N: I haven't bought a new swimsuit in five years. My body has changed since then and I'm hating this task even more than usual and have had to talk myself down a few times like reader does here. It might be weird, but Nelly London's Instagram has been really helpful lately. This post of hers contributed to this fic.
"This one doesn't have enough tit support. This one . . . just, ugh," you paused in throwing swim tops into the return bin to consider the swim top in your hand. It would have been ok and had been the best available option. But the goddam padding. "And the worst offense? Non-adjustable straps."
"You don't have this problem when we visit the beach, Stardust," Qui-Gon calmly pointed out. He leaned against the wall of the private dressing room, gazing with the barest hint of congenial amusement dancing along his face.
He had insisted on tagging along on this little torture of buying new swimsuits for an upcoming beach resort trip with your bestie. The man earnestly loved you as you were with no notes for self-improvement. With him, there was peace and the feeling of also accepting yourself as is- he'd allow nothing less. It felt so good and healing to be with him. Especially while exploring each other for days on the beach.
The idea of letting the Jedi Master see this self-conscious bordering on self-loathing side that emerged during this particular task was mortifying. Yet, when denied he'd serenely stared until you relented.
"Because we don't wear anything and no one else is around! This isn't that kind of place," you complained. "I have to actually pack."
"Seems inconvenient. " He leaned down to kiss your shoulder and you shuddered at the feel of his long hair falling along your bare arm. ""But please. Continue if you wish."
"This one is too low. This one is too high. This one . . ." you said, each word becoming breathier as Qui-Gon's gentle kisses traveled along your shoulder and neck. "This one makes me look squishier than I already am."
He drew away and looked down, skating his fingers along the curve of your belly; a motion that he'd done often in those getaways and stolen moments. One that had never bothered you before with him but made you want to implode and disappear under the harsh dressing room lights and aggressive pile of discarded swimwear.
"Stay with me. Don't fall into it," he murmured, caressing the softness under his hand. "Remember the truth."
Qui-Gon never said, "Well, I think you're beautiful" as if being wanted was enough to dissolve the anxiety and body dysmorphia that had been beat into your brain practically since birth. His words were always about the miracle of your body simply being. How every curve, ripple, and dimple was reflective of nature and flowed with the Living Force. That it was a miracle because of the untold generations that had connected and joined to create this specific one and the beautiful soul it protected.
Those words made you feel so powerful.
"I'm here," you sighed. "But I still have the swimsuit problem."
"Perhaps I can assist," he said with a kiss. "You haven't let me see any of them, after all."
"Alright." You turned to the other, untouched pile and found something you remembered grabbing off the rack but had not been on top of the pile before: a hipster style bottom with a halter top sporting a wider band under the bust and wide straps that tied at the back and neck. Holding it up, you quirked an eyebrow at the smirking Jedi. "Was this your doing?"
"The ways of the Force are mysterious, my sweet dove," he smirked.
You stared him in the eye while pulling on the bottoms then turned and slightly angled up your hips to give him a good look.
"Thoughts?"
He sauntered over to loom behind you in the mirror. He ran a finger just under the leg opening, tracing along your hip and back to skate along your ass.
"Promising. Give me the other piece then raise your arms."
You obeyed, smiling at the mirror and liking the woman reflected within. His free hand drifted up to pebble your nipple, eliciting a light gasp and a familiar heat. Qui-Gon wrapped the top around your ribcage under the bust and tied it. Then he dragged the rest up, making sure to cup your breasts as he did so, gently smiling at the whine the touch created. Once the top was tied to his satisfaction, he guided your arms down, and rested his large hands on your hips.
"Thoughts?" he asked, lips brushing your ear.
"My tits look fantastic in this. So does the rest of me," you said without a hint of apprehension. Feeling his growing hardness through the layers of Jedi garb, you pushed your hips back. "Seems you think so, too."
He traced his fingers along the exposed skin of your breasts along the halter's neckline, meeting your eyes in the mirror and savoring the increasingly desperate face of the woman he loved.
"Stardust," he began, "my love for you burns brightest when you love yourself."
Instantly hotter than all of the galaxy's hells, you turned and yanked him down for a hungry kiss.
"Qui-Gon, we're not outside, but . . . " you whined.
With a satisfied smile, he dropped to his knees, threw one of your legs over his shoulder, and shoved aside the bikini bottom just enough to give access to your clit. The tip of his tongue swirled around your bundle of nerves, radiating pleasure through your core and, entirely too quickly, bringing on a deliciously electric climax that left you shaking from the effort to contain the cries.
"This is . . ." you panted. "This is the one."
Qui-Gon stood slowly leaving a trail of slick kisses along your belly and chest and eventually to your lips. His eyes flicked to the rest of the unexplored pile of swimsuits.
"It seems there are several more to try, little dove, and we have all afternoon." Maker, that voice! "Shall we continue?"

20 Questions for Fic Writers
Got tagged by @somewhereapart, and I figured y'all may be sick of seeing me just post fic so here ya go.
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
88
2. What's your total AO3 word count?
305,612
3. What fandoms do you write for?
AO3 tells me I've written for Battlestar Galactica, Buffy, General Hospital, Law & Order: SVU, Law & Order: OC, Lie To Me, Stargate: Atlantis, Stargate SG-1, and The West Wing. And I honestly can't think of any others outside of just ficlets I've tossed into the wild over the years.
4. What are your top five fics by kudos?
Flinktober 2022 (EO, SVU/OC)
i remember skies (EO, SVU/OC)
gala (EO, SVU/OC)
bizarre love triangle (EO, SVU/OC)
Chautauqua (EO, SVU/OC)
I did not include one that was cowritten with a bunch of other people because I will always assume the kudos are for them.
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
As often as possible. If someone takes the time to comment, I want them to know that i care enough to acknowledge and thank them for that kindness and effort. Especially when I write mostly for a fandom where I've seen people specifically state that they will read works but NOT comment on them as some sort of punishment for whatever random/imaginary fandom sins the writer whose free content they are enjoying has committed. That's just dumb and unkind, so I make the effort to let people know their comments are appreciated, even if it takes weeks to circle back.
6. What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Hmmm. There are several chapters in the first flink posting that would qualify, but I'm going to go with my largest Sam/Jack (SG-1) fic, Gravity Sings. It's hard to pretend it's not angsty when you've literally killed off half the planet.
7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Hmm. Not really sure. I'm a sucker for fluffy endings, so I tend to write them quite a bit. Maybe waltz or Chautauqua?
8. Do you get hate on fics?
Occasionally, but I shut it down quickly. If you come up in someone's space where someone is providing you free entertainment and be rude? Don't expect a pass from me about it. The scroll bar isn't difficult to use, and neither is the back button. I use it frequently on poorly-written works or things that may be well-written but just aren't my thing. What I don't do is sling entitlement issues around demanding things be written to my satisfaction (unless you employ my beta services, in which case, you asked for it!). :D
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
I never really did prior to the first flink experiment, and I created that experiment purely to practice writing smut. Well, I take that back. @rgrdsalxndra would be the first to remind me I'd often cockblock Elliot and Olivia by having them dream-smutting without real-life release. But I started that project with the express purpose of getting better and more comfortable with writing smut, so I'm making that the hinge point.
10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?
Because SVU and OC are different shows, I write them regularly. But if you mean out-of-universe crossovers, I've only really written one, R.E.M. (SGA, BSG, Buffy). It was based on a prompt from an LJ friend, "Elizabeth Weir, Kara Thrace, and Buffy Summers walk into a bar..."
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not that I'm aware. There are much better people out there to steal from. Also, I always assume if something is similar to what I've written, it's because fandom truly does become a hivemind at some point. Nothing new under the sun and all.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Not that I'm aware. If I had to guess, I'd say Gravity Sings would be the most likely candidate since SG-1 fandom is probably the most global and that fic has been around much longer than any other likely candidates.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Wrote Wet Dream with much better smut writers than myself in a group chat, and a bunch of us in SG-1 fandom way back in the day once built an SG-1 AU loosely based on The Big Bang Theory called The House That Jack Built, and I have several entries in that little universe.
14. What's your all-time favorite ship?
How does anyone pick this??? I love them all for different reasons. I will say EO has a grip on me nobody else ever has, but then they have that 25 year slow burn that is just absolutely and sickly delicious.
15. What's the WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
Glazed and Fired (SGA) was originally the first part of a 5 Things fic that got away from me, and I had always intended to go back and finish it but eventually just put it away for good. I fully intend to finish my others (Skies, I'm looking at you).
16. What are your writing strengths?
Grammar. Economy of language (this is also sometimes a weakness). Getting into the head of characters who are typically very closed off.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
I feel my writing is way too mechanical. I'm also still not comfortable writing smut. I always walk around with a sense of imposter syndrome with my writing.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
I'm literally one class shy of a degree in French, and I had to write many upper level term papers in that language, but let me assure you I have zero plans to ever write in another language. I sincerely applaud those of you who do.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
Stargate SG-1
20. Favorite fic you've ever written?
Geez. It probably changes regularly, and I'm hesitant to say because my faves are never anyone else's. all i ever wanted (a rather dark Elliot-centric fic) holds a very dear spot in my heart just because of how my muse just grabbed a keyboard and churned it out. This is not a popular opinion, and hardly anyone read it, but I still love it a lot. And just because it was the first fic I wrote that was widely recc'd, I have a soft spot for Things Not Dreamed (SG-1), a Sam & Jack & Daniel fic written from Daniel's POV.
tagging in a no-pressure way (and sorry for any double tags):
@morethanwords229, @whatbecomesofyou, @samwrites99, @rgrdsalxndra, @shut-upjohn, and anyone else who wants to do it!

there's something so dismal about how so much of tv fandom's energy nowadays seems to go towards trying to prove to big corporations that their show is good enough to save. like whenever a new episode or series comes out it's "remember to watch it all in 24 hours or it won't get renewed!" "play it on repeat for a month or else it'll become another piece of lost media!" "don't stop talking and posting about it during the hiatus or else this season that's already in production might not air!" "if this tag trends on twitter for long enough we might get eight episodes instead of six!!!" it feels less like we're enjoying a show that so many people worked hard on and more like we're trying to create rituals to please the gods (which replace gods with The Algorithm and you're not far off).
like i haven't even been involved in fandom for that long but even just seven or so years ago if a show did well enough that it was nominated for awards and trending on twitter and having well attended comic con panels then it would be renewed for at least a season or two. and back then being renewed for another season meant "we're for sure going to get a new season next year!" with almost no possibility of cancelation. and even shows that did just okay ratings wise would easily get 5+ seasons.
and it was more fun. when i was watching Doctor Who or Arrowverse or whatever in 2014 i could enjoy and critique the media itself instead of constantly being nervous about whether the next season will be cashed in for nostalgia bait or have its episode count cut or be postponed for three years or just outright canceled because it was slightly less popular than last year. like the fandom would still stress out over potential bad narrative choices or whatever but we would also get excited about the future.
maybe it's just my own perceptions but i just tend to find myself favoring fandoms for shows (or at least eras, i'm looking at you Doctor Who) that have been completed. i like Good Omens and Our Flag Means Death and Strange New Worlds and Percy Jackson and the Olympians and the latest Doctor Who era but i just find it hard to get invested when there's so much anxiety around if there will be a future to those shows and so much of the fandom activity revolves around that anxiety. and then as a result when the show does end for good (whether through cancelation or design) the fandom starts to fade away too because so much of it was based on the temptation of The Future.
and i'm also quick to admit that production in pre-streaming era shows had their own problems (once popular shows running for 15 seasons and jumping the shark just because it's a cash cow, tampered down diversity in the interest of "popular appeal", the whole quantity over quality issue, etc) but at least the fandoms were more optimistic and focused on the story itself instead of just being angry about the eternal potential of cancelation or outright deletion.
(also there are obviously much larger issues to the streaming model re: residuals and everything else brought up during the wga and sag strikes but that's all been said much more coherently so i'm just speaking from my own perspective as a fan. and even then there's still definite overlap between the fandom anxiety over renewal and the real world economic anxiety for people involved with production over "will we have a job/be paid". it's far too early to tell but i really hope the strikes will help to solve this problem.)

Not an ask, but a question
What is your motive to creating this blog? Is it :
A. You create this blog for a very heartfelt reason that everyone just go 'aww🥺❤'
B. You just feel silly and create this blog, not expecting that this blog will be famous
Or
C. You hold too many headcanon in your head, but everyone you know irl aren't too interested or don't know the arcana, or even both. And you can't hold all of this hcs anymore. And so, you created this blog.
@zedibleandedible Does all of the above count? XD (CW for a big, mushy heartfelt gratitude message below the cut)
I actually got the tumblr account because I wanted to find the Arcana fandom somewhere and I wasn't able to find much on any social platforms that I already had.
Then I binged all the content I could find, and found myself getting frustrated when a whole day would pass and nothing new would show up on the arcana tag.
So I thought, hey, I love reading headcanons, and my mind is overflowing with brainrot about the Arcana, so maybe I should try my hand at writing a few.
I had 0 plans for the blog when it started. For all I knew, I'd make a few posts, I'd find another obsession, and I'd move on, but WOAH!
There's so many wonderful people in this fandom, and you're sending me ideas, and then there was a playlist, and then there was a barnyard full of animals, and now I'm somebody who has a content creating schedule when I've never really thought of myself as much of a creator in my life! Not to mention all the honorary little siblings/cousins/cryptid family members I've somehow collected along the way. ^.^
Anyways, now my goal for the blog is a place where Arcana fans can find equal amounts of content for each LI they're interested in and where people can (hopefully) have a space to rest and be happy.
Much love to you, friend, and to everyone else who's DMed me, sent me asks, left notes and comments on my posts and generally been present to see how things go! You all deserve the world :D

I'm never really sure how to sell myself, or rather garner interest to a fandom that has yet to really be established. But it's a small and wholesome group that I adore regardless. And I hope one day it will grow, because these goons have been the serotonin ride that's gotten me out of many tough spots time and time again. I'm finally in the position to slowly migrate my stuff from KoFi onto Ao3, and the reason I'm doing so is because KoFi outside of just being tipped doesn't really assist much for writers. I've lost many one-shot series because their blogging system does not allow to track posts by calendar dates like other spaces. But that's a personal rant for another time. That said, while I migrate my works to another site I still struggle to garner interest for some things I worked hard to write, even with having created a fandom tag for my very own family. And I know some things take time, but on the same token it still feels discouraging to a lesser degree. Namely because I'm not really sure just how to get people interested? If you're looking for wholesome and queer to read, I would be happy to present the following:
Tumblr media
"Happy Birthday, Rose!" is a piece dedicated to Camp Boolieve's very own plant-loving gremlin. It's short, and to the point. More or less a birthday present I wrote for Rose's player. Some minor revisions were done to this when migrating it from my KoFi page, seeing as this was written before the series concluded. Now it holds a bit more accuracy. I would recommend this one specifically if you've listened to our playthrough, as there is a reference to a very specific episode.
Tumblr media
"Hoodie" is a canonical piece written for the sake of gay fluff. It was written either right as Camp Boolieve was ending or immediately after? Or like right before our last episode? I can't quite remember exactly, but I wanted to write an important bit of how Abel likes to take Willy's hoodies. I did have to edit some things as I was nowhere near where I was when this got written. And while it's not perfect, it's still cute enough to sate those looking for fluff. Because we do love fluff.
Tumblr media
A more spicy tale. "Merry Christmas, I Could Care Less [Unless]" is the Christmas piece I was posting about back in November/December. My group finally helped me deliver this live back in January. They also convinced me to put it up on Ao3. So with that, I added in some spicier bits that we could not deliver on Twitch. :) This canonical piece does have some trigger warnings to it, but I'm really happy with it. It was not fun to format when transferring it over there, but it's still something I'm proud of. And it's only part one! The rest of the tale will not be delivered until later this year. I had to split it into two parts as there was no way we'd be able to read the whole thing otherwise.
So if you're looking for a longer piece with a little bit of spice, then I would gladly suggest this one. Also if you're able to count all the FOB references in this one, then I will virtually give you a cookie. If you want a slightly less spicier version, you can listen to the stream on our VOD channel below [I am sorry in advance for the audio quality...]. But I am uh... trying to cater to getting those hits on my Ao3 stuff...
youtube
And heck. If you like the series that much and want to check out where it all began, then boy howdy do I have a Playlist for you!
Anyway, thanks for taking the time to read through this. Likes and reblogs are always appreciated. I'm always so nervous to share my stuff with people outside of my comfort zone, but at the same time I'm also very eager to share it and always hope folks like what they read. So if you do take the time to read through pieces I've invested so much of myself into, I want you to know that I super appreciate you and the time you've given me. Thank you, and I love you.

Do you ever struggle with feelings of discouragement or inadequacy if your fics don’t do as well as you had hoped?
I’m struggling with that myself. I try not to get so hung up on it but it’s very hard, especially when something I’m so proud of doesn’t do as well as my other works.
I don’t even feel motivated to write bc I don’t wanna set myself up for disappointment
Discouragement, sure, I think that's natural sometimes. But I really don't feel like stats have anything to do with adequacy. Baring my soul, yuck. But fuck it we ball. Sorry it's a long answer.
I don't think I've ever answered a serious ask aside from the time i created Dr. rock which hardly counts but I've seen a lot of people struggling with this lately and hope this might be idk comforting to a person or two without leading to debate/discourse.
You mentioned something you're proud of isn't doing as well as your other works, and I can see how that would be disappointing. For laughs, I'll compare 2 of mine. These fics are impossible to compare (as are most, I think) but I def understand the urge to measure yourself against what you see as the potential. Aches: <1k popular trope I banged out in no time, wasn't sure about it, literally thought "people don't have to like it" before I hit post. >4 notes per word. Left in Lincoln: >22k posted so far, challenging, writing it for months. Has possibly driven me crazy bc I had this passing thought the other day and not about TLOU. (I didn't feel like re-reading it all): "I should just rewatch the movie. . .wait." 🤡 The whole Lincoln series combined has fewer notes than Aches lmao. But it's far more rewarding in getting to see it come to life, quality of engagement, and stretching myself 😏. It's not for everyone, for various reasons. Surely would have better stats without the twist I went with. But at what cost??
-------
Often, if people don't read or like something, it's a reflection of their own interests, limitations, and assumptions. And the right "fit."
I don't rly read much in general, but specifically, I rarely read long stuff (if I do I prob scan a lot tbh). I normally only want, if any, just enough plot/premise to build sexual tension. I don't read fluff or angst. I don't have the attention span / commitment to get invested in original characters. I tend to avoid stuff similar to what I'm working on. I make assumptions - If there's no word count, maybe it's too long. I know a lot of the fics I skip for these reasons must be fantastic. Assumptions I experience - I've seen very popular fics in the wild that strike me as dark, creepy, or pervy but aren't tagged that way. So some things that are tagged dark, etc., including plenty of mine, might not be dark in the way people assume based on their own ideas, or based on what others do tag. Also some people think I only write dark when sometimes it's just horny (see master list).
I've sometimes found myself thinking "It sucks more people don't read this bc i bet they would enjoy it" (not just my own fics). It might sound egotistical but I think it's often true.
------
Of course I want engagement because that means more people reading something which can mean more interaction, discussion, learning what you liked, what you think, etc. that's what I love.
But notes aren't rly near the top of what I care about, even though it does feel great to get them and I truly appreciate every single one.
Night walks doesn't get nearly as many notes as some of my other stuff, especially these days, but it's fun to write and I like to feed his feral fans who only get more into him with time. Same with raider: among those who do read and engage, I sense rising enthusiasm, thirst, and rate of falling in love with him (my bad). That's all worth more than 1000 likes to me. I have a good time writing these guys, so I write them more than other ones that get way more notes 🤷. I'm not saying notes don't matter at all, I know they affect exposure and engagement. But if just did what gets notes, I don't think I'd have such high quality engagement bc I'd just bang out more stuff with the most popular tropes instead of our fave Joels and those destined to become our faves bc they offer something special.
My outlook was the same before I had so many followers btw. Rock Bottom (22k) was what I felt like writing, still more ambitious than anything I've done in the Halloween fandom. I was disappointed it got way less attention than my one shots, but I know it's a banger, just certainly not for everyone lol.
-
I'm sorry for what you're experiencing and feeling, but I think it's very common and hope you can reframe it to not feel inadequate. I especially hope it doesn't discourage you from writing. ❤️

Ok so I saw that long ass post that anon sent you about the vote thing on Wattpad, and while I don’t agree with some of what they said where they told you what to do (which they shouldn’t have done, they were rude) I do actually agree with them where they said people don’t tend to look at the votes when deciding whether or not to read a story. I actually think the whole vote thing is just something only authors care about, not readers.
As an avid reader on Wattpad, I do give votes just because authors like it- but I don’t actually give a shit about how many votes a story has when I’m looking for my next story to read. I look at the number of views- which I think you’ll find most readers do, even though the view count can be skewed.
Either way, I do think the whole vote thing should be taken off Wattpad as to the majority of readers, they really don’t care about it and it doesn’t give a good representation of how good a story is
I've been thinking about this all a lot ever since the last anon came in. I'll probably avoid answering questions about this topic again, but there does seem to be disconnect between the writer and reader standpoint, so I'll try and explain my thoughts as best I can without waffling for ages lol
my answer is to this ask, but also to the topic in general, and thoughts I've had regarding that last anon.
it's a really difficult topic to discuss because wattpad has an algorithm that is never really explained to writers. i cant say its important because xyz - i can just give you my own experience. ive been on wattpad for 11 years and have seen it through many changes. i used to use the activity tab to find new stories, and i honestly think getting rid of that was detrimental to the user experience tbh.
as it stands, we don't know what the algorithm favours, so we have to do what we can.
and what can we do? we can tag our work, we can acquire reads and votes, and then we can do more laborious things such as entering award books run by other users and engaging with our readers in various ways.
the tag system, and trending stories under those tabs, are really skewed. for instance, I don't think any of my stories have ever made it onto the fanfic tab, nor have I ever ranked highly under tags despite having really engaged readers and metrics which would suggest I would be.
so, unlike what the last anon said, my stories haven't always been 'out there'. word of mouth, and some stroke of luck tiktoks, are what's pushed them more than anything. so in that way, yeah the desire for votes is flawed—but personally I don't think read count is indicative of quality. if we're thinking about it from a marketing standpoint and conversion rates etc, votes a far more indicative of quality and I'd rather be known for quality over quantity.
the last anon also specifically noted the number of reads/follows I have on wattpad, and suggested that I shouldn't care because those numbers are high—which, respectfully I disagree with. if I didn't care in the early days, I wouldn't have pushed myself to make it to where i am. you can't just expect me to switch off that part of my personality. I'm ambitious and I really care about the things I create.
my girliepop oc's tend to have ambitious streaks and personal goals that they work hard for. they take after their mother, in that sense.
i think what confuses me the most is why it irks people, when you boil it down. its a tap on the screen for readers—and having just uploaded an 11k chapter that took hours to write, to edit, to craft, only to then be told its not worth it? i dunno man, it's just mean lol.
you can think these thing by all means, but don't come into my space just to be cruel. sometimes it okay to keep your opinions in your group chats.
the system is flawed, but I don't think you can blame a gal for just trying to work with it in the only way she knows how

fic writer interview
(tagged by @sunriseverse, tysm for the tag!! 💙 posting on my sideblog because it feels like the right place for this sort of rambling.)
How many works do you have on AO3? 10 (plus the one i orphaned, which still has my username attached). one is fanart. i'm... a very irregular writer.
What’s your total AO3 word count? 32,694 words (i do mean a very irregular writer lol).
What are your top 5 fics by kudos? 1) snow and repetitions of snow (elder scrolls) (169) 2) no takebacks (mysterious lotus casebook) (126) 3) a light that does not flicker (elder scrolls) (85) 4) what's in a name? (mysterious lotus casebook) (78) 5) to gravity and the unknown (elder scrolls) (50) the actual most-kudosed work of mine is the Accursed Orphan, red oni, blue oni (tensei shitara slime datta ken) with 2202 (oh god). it really, really wasn't my best work, i stopped following the canon when i got bored with the plot, and the constant stream of kudos emails started to get on my nerves, hence the orphaning.
Do you respond to comments? Why or why not? i try my best to! that said there are a lot of unanswered comments from periods where i just couldn't keep up with life. i appreciate each and every one though! i swear i'll get around to them someday 😭
What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending? i tend to write bittersweet more than outright angsty. maybe snow and repetitions of snow, featuring two shitty stubborn wizards who are on-again off-again exes/enemies with benefits. it ends on them realizing that their ideals and personalities are irreconcilable and yet they cherish each other regardless. sometimes it just be that way!
What’s the fic you’ve written with the happiest ending? no takebacks is very short but given that it undoes a major character death and ends with a sort-of marriage proposal: probably that one. sometimes you just gotta write fluff to soothe the soul.
Do you write crossovers? not really. occasional crossover cameos can be fun, but overall they don't interest me a ton? i much prefer fusion AUs, but i don't often write them; perhaps because my stuff tends to be shorter and more intensely character-focused than setting-focused.
Have you ever received hate on a fic? not openly. if anyone's hating on my fics in private that's their prerogative lmao.
Do you write smut? If so, what kind? occasionally! there's one explicit fic on my account and numerous WIPs that may or may not ever see the light of day. "porn with feelings" is probably the best description for the stuff i tend to write. sometimes the characters are trying very hard to ignore those feelings but they're still there. (shout out to the one lin chen/mei changsu WIP in my folder which is Very Much That.)
Have you ever had a fic stolen? not to my knowledge. i tend to write for small fandoms and rare pairs so i'm probably not high on the radar for that sort of thing?
Have you ever had a fic translated? yes! snow and repetitions of snow was translated into mandarin, i'm very happy that someone liked my fic enough to do so :)
Have you ever co-written a fic before? not yet, though i've done illustrations for big bang fics in the past, and RP'd and created shared AU verses with friends. actual co-writing isn't something i've done, but the idea is intriguing! (that said, i'm extremely flakey and wouldn't wish myself as a co-writer upon anyone.)
What’s your all-time favorite ship? "all-time" is a pretty broad category, wow. in terms of sheer volume of fics i've bookmarked though mei changsu/xiao jingyan are absolutely destroying the competition, no contest. in terms of "currently rent-free in my brain" i am frantically paddling this XJY/MCS/LC rareship against the current.
What’s a WIP that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will? (gestures vaguely at my entire folder of WIPs. weeps loudly.) tbh talking too much about my WIPs or even giving them a serious title until they're most-of-the-way finished feels like giving them the kiss of death. i'm not superstitious but i'm like a little stitious, you know?
What are your writing strengths? given that my entire writing process feels kind of like banging my head against a wall while crying: hard to say! i'm told i'm good with conveying tension though. in terms of characterization, insufferable theatrical magnificent bastards.
What are your writing weaknesses? long plotty fic and me are not friends. my pacing can be a bit mood whiplash-y at times. i abuse italics and semicolons like they're going out of fashion.
What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic? depends on the cultural context of the canon, the purpose for doing so, etc... like pretty much anything else, it can be used to good effect, or it can be really grating. i think things like honorifics and terms that don't have a good 1:1 english translation are pretty much fine.
What was the first fandom you wrote for? idk probably some pokemon OC thing when i was like ten years old? in terms of fic completed and posted online, elder scrolls.
What’s a fandom/ship you haven’t written for yet but want to? (shoving numerous WIPs back into my folder) does NiF count? i haven't finished anything for it yet... in terms of canons i haven't touched at all, maybe sha po lang. i read the entire thing in one long weekend while house-sitting for a friend and i'm still not sure if it was good or if it just hit all my kinks just right, but either way there's probably something to work with here.
What’s your favorite fic you’ve written? it's also a WIP (mostly written, just lacking a solid ending) and it's utter self-indulgent nonsense designed to appeal to no one but me but: i'm very fond of how to deflower your martial brother (wo jia dashixiong naozi you keng). hanahaki disease, fucky shixiong/shidi relations, horrible pun in the title: these are a few of my favourite things.
tagging! @shararan @strandedchesspiece @foxofninetales @sinni-ok-sessi @junemermaid @melodious-tear @thebansacredbanned and anyone else who's interested (no pressure ofc!)

Last Song: stepsister's lament from the broadway production of cinderella. watched some friends in high school perform this song because cinderella was the school musical that year and god it slaps
Favorite Color: purple!! love me my purple. i have also been known to indulge in light soft pink
Last Movie/Show: i showed my boyfriend "hudson hawk" last night because we were bored at hell and trying to find something to watch and it popped up on hulu. my dad had shown it to me before and i thought it was ridiculously campy so i thought it would be fun. didn't remember it having so many fatphobic jokes though my god
Sweet/Spicy/Savory: generally sweet, never spicy, but god i love savory foods
Relationship Status: it'll be 8 months with my bf in 3 days :)
Last Thing I Googled: lmfaooooo. "does dexterity increase damage bg3" if you really wanna play fair, i technically looked up something after that on my boyfriend's phone because mine was charging, and that was "female names that mean rainbow". totally was not creating a new bg3 character absolutely not
Current Obsession: i suppose bg3 counts as that? wouldn't consider myself "obsessed" but i have been playing a lot and enjoying thinking about my characters. okay well maybe i am a little obsessed lmfao leave me alone
Last Book: genuinely i think the last book i read was. forever ago. and that was "the traitor baru cormorant" by seth dickinson. and that book. is not for the lighthearted. sobbed so hard and when i tried to read the sequel it made me so physically upset i almost hurled. very good book though
Looking Forward To: my rewrite is dropping tomorrow!! and i'm also looking forward to whatever writing i can get done this year :)

20 Questions For Fic Writers
I was tagged by @majorbaby, thank you!
I'm tagging @beansterpie @undecimber-of-joy @hetakiba @ofdemonsandangels @yeehawkpierce @hawkfawun @nimuetheseawitch @ofmdmash @quordleona03 @pomegranate @actingcamplibrarian and anyone else who sees this and writes fic and wants to do it, please do and tag me.
1. How many works do you have on Ao3?
7 fics, 15 works if we're including vids.
2. What's your total Ao3 word count?
68,280 words!
3. What fandoms do you write for?
Mash and Berserk are the only fandoms I've ever finished fic in.
4. What are your top five fics by kudos?
Refraction, Snowmelt, Presumed Dead (though that one may be off slightly because it got hit with a kudos bot for a couple hours before I privated it for a day :| Still, idt it's inflated by much), Army Style, and Under the Influence
5. Do you respond to comments?
Yep!
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Toss up between Army Style and War Bonds, but they're both variations on the same theme of Hawkeye's friends dragging him into army conformity. Army Style is probably a little worse actually since I do subtly imply that his post-war life is impacted too.
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Presumed Dead and Snowmelt are the ones that end with happily ever after vibes. Snowmelt might be the happiest just in contrast to the source material lol, plus Presumed Dead does have a reminder of the issues they still need to overcome, while I kinda breeze past those in Snowmelt.
8. Do you get hate on fics?
Not to my knowledge. Never gotten any mean comments.
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
I have 2 fics I'd consider smutfics, but I don't think it's really my wheelhouse. I feel like I can write sex okay, but not when the point is just to be sexy. I'd classify the kind of smut I write as thematically driven lol, or character driven. I need there to be a point, even in basic smut, or I can't write.
10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?
No lol I don't have the imagination for it.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not as far as I'm aware.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Nope.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Nope.
14. What’s your all time favorite ship?
idk! I still go back to Fraser/Vecchio every few years, my love for them just doesn't die for some reason. Griffguts definitely wins in terms of content I've created though, if you put all my meta about them together it's probably encylopedia length.
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
My apostle Guts concept. I'd love for it to exist in full, but I just don't think it's something I can write. Even if I have the ability, I don't have the drive or the creativity to expand it into a full longfic, which I think it needs to be.
16. What are your writing strengths?
I think I'm pretty good at characterization and character voice. I've got a solid handle on grammar, and I think I'm decent at general flow with my prose. I feel like my fics are reasonably readable. And I can be funny imo. I also think my lack of ~poetic soul~ can be a strength, at least for myself, because I personally am not very into particularly poetic writing. I like concrete, in-the-moment action rather than more abstract vibes, and I think my writing reflects that.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
I feel like I'm bad at conveying emotion lol. Others have said that they found some of my fics effectively emotional and I'm very happy about that, but if so I think that's incidental of what I'm writing, rather than how I'm writing it. My lack of poetry here is maybe more of a flaw than a strength.
I also worry about my prose being dry, feeling like a slog to read, and/or ungrounded in descriptive detail. I'm inclined towards talking heads floating in a void exchanging dialogue and I have to work to add a sense of setting.
And I have a dismal work ethic lol. I write when and what the mood takes me, I can't sit and force myself to knock out a few hundred words. I have many wips going at once so that when inspiration for one dries up I can turn to another, but I often go long stretches without writing at all. It took me like 2 years to write Army Style.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
Idk. I guess I'd say do it if it makes sense for the character and you speak the language or know someone who can effectively translate what you want to say, rather than relying on google translate? Though I feel like you shouldn't include a translation if you're doing this lol, unless it's like, a Discworld or Good Omens fic where end notes are part of the prose style and you're doing something funny with it. It's just clunky in terms of reading experience. Make the meaning obvious through context, or irrelevant but a bonus for multi-lingual readers. Or just use translation convention.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
I guess it'd be Harry Potter lol, scribbling mary sue marauder-era fic ideas out in a notebook back when I was 12.
20. Favorite fic you’ve written?
It's Army Style. I'm still kinda coasting on a warm glow of pride for finishing it lol. It's the longest thing I've ever written, a fair amount of research went into it (albeit reading I was doing anyway because I enjoy it lol), and imo it's honestly pretty good as a Hawkbi character study that balances real history and Mash vibes. Better than I thought I'd ever be able to write a few years ago.

20 questions for fic writers
I was tagged by @clueless-mp4 (thank you!!!) to answer some questions about my fic writing, this might get a little repetetive as I only currently have one published work, but it gives me a chance to talk a little bit about Vampire Fic which I am always excited to do.
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
Currently 2, soon to be 3!
2. What's your total A03 word count?
Currently 98k, soon to be 200k (approximately).
3. What fandoms do you write for? BBC Sherlock and its adjacents (Holmes canon and of course BBC Dracula)
4. What are your top five fics by kudos?
From a Drop of Water sweep by default!!!
Truly though I am still so touched by the response to that story, it has been beyond anything I ever expected and I am so grateful to have written something that resonated with so many people.
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
I do! I get so much joy out of going through my comments, and I try to take the time to respond to anyone who was kind enough to tell me that they enjoyed my writing.
6. What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
I'm a big fan of angst with a happy ending. That said, if you've seen Dracula, you know to expect there to be something bittersweet about the ending of The Stories in Our Veins
7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
From a Drop of Water was and is pure wish fulfillment on all accounts.
8. Do you get hate on fics?
Not yet *knock on wood* which has been a delightful change of pace.
9. Do you write smut?
The vampire fic has exactly one (1) sex scene.
10. Do you write crossovers?
I am currently! But does it really count as a crossover when two stories were meant to be connected? (Yeah I think so).
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not to my knowledge
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Yes, From a Drop of Water has been translated into Mandarin and Russian which is so so cool to me.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Not exactly, though when working on the early stages of From a Drop of Water, I solicited a lot of feedback from my beta readers, and I would say the feedback @novaviis offered in particular played a huge role in why that story turned out as well as it did! I definitely appreciated all the help while I was still so new to building a story.
14. What's your all-time favourite ship?
Holmes and Watson forever and always, amen.
15. What's the WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
Thankfully none at this stage, though as you can imagine in a writing process as long as the one for The Stories in Our Veins has been there have been several points where I have despaired of it ever actually getting done.
16. What are your writing strengths?
I think my strongest suit is planning out the subtextual language of a story and weaving in references that create interplay between my work and the source text. I've also gained a lot of structural practice with this current story and I think I'm getting pretty good at it! My most niche talent is the written montage, love connecting all the little clues together at the end!!!
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
Prose itself, particularly descriptions, though I'd say I'm getting better at both with practice. I also have certain words that I mix up with other words that I cannot for the life of me ever keep straight (homophones are the bane of my existence) so I have to be really careful to search those out, and even then my beta readers still find ones I miss!!!
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
I don't think I would do it unless I spoke the language myself, I'd be too worried about getting something wrong.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
Actually, I did write one Alice centered one shot for the Twilight fandom back when I was like... 13. I don't think I ever deleted it so it probably still exists out on the internet somewhere, though I have no idea what I might have named that account so have no way of finding it.
20. Favourite fic you've ever written?
Not to oversell it, but I really adore The Stories in Our Veins, and I'm very proud of how it's turning out. I think it's better than From a Drop of Water in just about every way, though I recognize that a crossover with a TV show that only 12 people care about is going to have a lot less of a broad appeal than a TJLC slanted re-imagining of series 4. If you do end up reading it anyway, know that you have my undying gratitude!
I'm tagging @novaviis, @minotaurmutual and @teledild0nix!

20 questions for fic writers
thank you @emryses for tagging me!
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
12.
2. What’s your total AO3 word count?
240,148
3. What fandoms do you write for?
I've only written Stranger Things so far.
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
Steve Harrington. Are you kidding me? Temptation Heat, Beats Like a Drum. Happy Valentine's Day, Big Boy. This is the coin I had in my pocket the first time we kissed and I always have it. And you may find yourself in a beautiful house, with a beautiful wife.
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
Yes! I try to at least reply with something so people know I saw their comment and appreciate it.
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
I'm a happy ending girlie, honestly. (I also have a lot of WIPs so they don't have an ending yet.)
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
As far as actually finished fics goes, probably Steve Harrington Are you kidding me.
8. Do you get hate on fics?
I've gotten a few comments here and there that weren't the nicest or could have probably been left off. But mostly I've gotten good feedback.
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
I do! I always convince myself it's not very good but it's fun to write! And I really just write whatever fits the story? I don't think I really have anything I particularly favor.
10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?
I have not. I don't usually read crossovers either.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
I don't think so!
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
No, I haven't!
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
No I haven't but I am in awe of people who can do that. That seems so difficult to me.
14. What’s your all time favorite ship?
I think Steddie is always going to be top dog for me, honestly. I've read fics for such a long time but Steddie is the first that got to me enough that I actually started creating things for it as well. And the brainrot is still going strong.
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
I honestly plan on finishing all my abandoned WIPs at this time!! I guess if I had to pick it would probably be Coin just because it's the one I've struggled the most with. But I'm hoping to come back to it still!
16. What are your writing strengths?
Oh man. That's a tough one. I think...character voice. I think I do a pretty good job of grasping a character and sticking as closely to what feels most like them at least, in my mind.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
Honestly I think just my own confidence and need for external validation. I wish I could just write for myself and enjoy it regardless of how well something does. I also just really struggle with writing in longer bits. I tend to write in little snippets and pieces ad it takes so long to get anywhere that way.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
I don't think I would ever try. I don't speak any other language and trying to master the nuance of speaking in one while relying on like...google translate just doesn't sound like it would go well.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
Stranger Things! Steddie was my first dive into writing fanfic at all.
20. Favorite fic you’ve written?
I am so incredibly proud of And You May Find Yourself. I stepped outside my comfort zone a lot for this fic all the way from the themes to just actually reaching out and being more a part of the Steddie community. I've made some great friends through the process and have signed up to be a part of way more than I originally planned on when I decided to so the Steddie Big Bang. I still have two chapters to write for this one and although I'm really looking forward to it finally being done I'll absolutely miss the version of these characters I created for this go around. I hope people love them as much as I do.

I was tagged by @magicalrocketships thank youu! ily!
Name: Anitra
Sign: Libra
Time: 1:47
Last movie: Oof I hardly ever watch movies. I think the last one I saw was Spider-Man: Across the Spiderverse. I took my kids to see it and I actually really loved it. Do documentaries count as movies? If they do, then I just watched Class Action Park a few days ago.
Last show: The last one I watched was Barry. Still midway through Season 2 of that one.
When I created this blog: 2014
Other blogs: fades into the bushes like Homer Simpson, listen I'm always doing 50 things at once, okay?
@hlficlibrary - my Louis/Harry fic rec blog
@letsdocuboutit - my newest one! for my new podcast!
@1dmonthlyficroundup - where I roundup all the current 1d fics each month!
@louisrarepairfest - for the currently posting Louis rare pair fest I run
@soulmatesabroad - for a past fic fest I ran for 3 years and might run again
@1dbreakupfest - ran this fest once and might run it again someday
@podfic-pals - member of this one where we post 1d podfics!
whispers should I talk about the other ones? lol FINE
@louli5ever - dedicated to Oli and the Louli friendship, is it fairly extensive for something that's kind of a joke? maybe.
@hotguyluke - dedicated to Louis' hot friend Luke. Is this also fairly extensive for someone we rarely see? also yes. I don't do things half way, okay?
Let's pretend there aren't any more, okay? Those were the sort of active ones.
Do I get asks/may you ask me something: Yep! Mostly I get asks about fics, but sometimes I write silly things in the tags, feeling like I'm talking to myself and then someone will send me an ask about them and I'm like oh yeah you can all see these
Average hours of sleep: Sighhhhhhhhhhh. I try to sleep from 11-7. Do I sleep from 11-7? No. I probably get to sleep closer to midnight. And since June I have had nightmares almost every single night. Yay. They wake me up multiple times and then I go back to sleep to endure more nightmares before I wake up at 7. So much fun. Yes, I've gone back to therapy.
Instruments: I wish! My son takes drum lessons so I'm living vicariously for now.
What I’m wearing: I wear Louis merch almost every single day, but you've caught me on an off day. I have a pink sweatshirt on that's from my local zoo and some navy blue pants with a white graphic pattern on them and pink Care Bear socks. I have 3 types of hoodies...Louis, Chicago Cubs, and my local zoo. I do not know why I have decided these three things are my entire personality, but oh well.
Dream job: I used to say writer. But I don't know if I want to do that professionally anymore. Or at least I don't think I want to be a fiction writer as a job. And the reason for that is that I love it too much. I love writing so much and it has always been such a huge part of who I am. Do I want to make it into something else? Do I want it to be a job that I "have" to do? Will it still be fun? Will it turn into a chore? I can't stand the thought that I could lose that joy. This is going to maybe piss some writers off lol, but I've never experienced writer's block. I've never sat down and been unable to write something. I'm always writing the exact thing that I want to write in that moment. It's one of the luckiest best things about me. What I've kind of turned to now is podcasting because it is something that I enjoy that I think I'm kind of good at and that I could potentially monetize one day. And it does involve writing because I have to write up notes and talk about something. But that's not really the same as writing a story. blah blah blah sorry this was so long.
I'll tag: @dearlou @noellehenry-original @gaycousinlarry @fallinglikethis @ohharold @joliepetitelou @statementlou and anyone else who wants to do this just say I tagged you!
