(i have answered that before but for all hc builds in general, not specifically s9 bases. and ill take any opportunity to talk about mc builds so im answering it again <3)

1) pearls alien landscape. ITS SO COOL! the colours the shapes the mix between alien plants and human research equipment. im so looking forward to actually exploring it in the world download

2) falses megabase. i think this one's just really grown on me from drawing it. the gradients are so good and its so HUGE too. i really love the whole aesthetic. im also generally a fan of anything in a snowy landscape so thats a bonus

3) bdubs monolith/temple. dont really know what to say here, i love all bdubs builds

4) scarland. i dont think im enough of a theme park nerd to fully appreciate it but what i love about scars builds is how alive they feel. especially with cleos armor stands

5) hermitopia. not putting this at nr 1 cause idk if it counts cause its not technically on s9 i guess. but i love it its such a good build

also honorary mention to bdubs tnt shop which isnt a base but such a good build. also grians entity which is still so intriguing to me. WHY is that rock alive grian i need to know please

hoooolyly shit cluster b joel smallishbeans mentioned..... i love cluster b hcs (especially bpd) in general (coughcough projection) so i look around regularly and theres barely ANYTHING. all this to say if u find anything interesting then do post about it

Cluster B Joel is so REAL & TRUE!!! I personally headcanon Joel Smallishbeans in Hermitcraft + Life Series to have BPD, Empires Mezalean King Joel to have NPD, and God Joel to have HPD. Not to say they are interchangeable, but each character has those specific struggles.

The main takeaway from this is that C!Joel has a personality disorder for SURES!! I truly do think he is the BPD rep we need. He is such an intimate and fascinating headcanon, especially in the backdrop of his interactions and just general character.

What I really love is that Joel is able to have BPD (or another cluster B) and still make sense as a character without being demonized or reinforcing stigmas. He is very caring and can be callous, but he is also highly self-conscious at the same time. He can come off as conceited, but nobody takes it as an act of malice. When he does something mean purposefully, it reads as very impulsive or sensitive. Lots of reassurance on both the giving and receiving ends... He is just very human and has habits he can't control well (BPD), but he's not treated as a villain, and people love him all the same despite or for those "eccentricities." They don't end their relationship with him, and they don't think he's any less capable than other hermits because it's built on a solid, understood foundation, not face value. They also make fun of those quirks sometimes, but in an effort to point them out, not dehumanise them (I miss you empires...)

It sucks that BPD, NPD, etc. are such controversial headcanons to have or sensitive topics to bring up. and you can't bring up their internal conflict and experiences without someone chiming in about how unsympathetic their condition actually is. But thats why I fucking love the BPD Joel headcanon because he is a great example of what its actually like having this disorder: secure friendships with rocky interactions + a thriving environment (hermitcraft especially) + reactionary but not inherently antagonistic or malicious actions even if its self serving.

I don't think joel is written in the lens of bpd for any of these but: @transfemzedaph has some of my most favourite writing on him if you want some more content anon. Specially this post (mounders), this mezealan kingjoel/rendog fic, and smallishtay being unbearable!!! and then this fic by zedif-y is fucking awesome too (he is so fucking bpd coded here...) and @theminecraftbee (the GOAT) has a whole persona au on him, i dont know persona but the fics are really good anyways, especially this one and this one about martyn + secret life

Love to draw something for it. The only thing I've ever thought of is the permit office doubling as a pharmacy and Joel has to wait 2 business days for his SSRI refill because they only open on the weekends and grian wont make exceptions

Hello! Zedaph anon again.

I wanted to say how much I love his videos so much. He has color-coded captions on all of them so its easier for me to process and see who is talking and it's so amazing. The only other hermit I've seen do that Grian (correct me if I'm wrong.) It's just so awesome to see that and I think that people should watch more Zedaph.

On a side note if I wanted to start watching Impulse then where should I start?

and yes, exactly!! i think grian is the only other hermit who does that and it's so so helpful. people should just generally watch more of zedaph because his videos are always SO creative but- anyway . that's a ramble for another day KLJGHJKSDG or another post.

AND !! 👀👀so you want to start watching impulse... well, i've got some recommendations!

personally i think you should start with either his hermitcraft s9 episodes OR his limited life povs. here's why:

i think that they both give you a sense of where his content is at Now, if that makes sense, so I recommend starting there instead of older hermitcraft content and whatnot (not to mention that it's. a lot of episodes to catch up on KSDJDHGSD)

i honestly think i would go for his limlife povs first? simply because you can catch up more easily than if you started with his hermitcraft content, because, yknow, less videos to watch. (AND THEY'RE REALLY GOOD, BUT THAT'S BESIDE THE POINT)

but i do also recommend chipping away at his hc s9 episodes! i'm really loving his builds so far and his plans for the season, so i highly recommend giving his videos a watch! (i don't think i can give you specific videos to start with, i like watching them in chronological order, but... i Do have a favorite...)

you can also try watching his recent hardcore series, although he has mentioned he hasn't had the time to continue it since limlife started. but, still, it's nice to see his videos where he's just playing on his own, it's a different feel and i like it :>

it also wouldn't hurt to get into imp&skizz! i feel like being around skizz just brings out something in impulse that you really only get when they're making content together so like KJSDGHSJKDG YEAH, also highly recommend!

Grian in general:

Mask = Pretty much, I saw grian's skin's eyes, and i was like "ok how do i keep these but make them look good" then i realized "oh my god watcher masks". So, most watchers' masks are the 'typical' watcher mask,, you prob know the one, but grian's, being the only 'mortalborn'(only one not born a watcher, and rather earning it as a title), and his own rebellion against the watchers, is different. it has his cod lookin eyes there. under the mask, who knows. maybe hes just a Dude™, maybe he's a bird, maybe hes an abomination.

Wings = Kestrel wings! As much as I adore the parrot hcs, and similar, im a tad disappointed no ones capitalized on kestrel grian. they're small, reddish, predatory birds!

Look at them.

The heart on the back is a reference to hardcore hearts, you know the ones. because only three lives and all,etc.

His armor is just a custom (and unlikely) design because i think its cool and people are cowards for not giving him wing armor.

3L!Grian Specifics:

He has the poncho because its a common desertduo design, and he's wearing a red tank top underneath. Don't got much else.

LL!Grian Specifics:

His trademark red sweater, and he has the goggles because of the southlands. aha!

I imagine his clothes got torn quite a bit, and he had to sew them a decent bit.

DL! Grian Specifics:

He has the gradient because A. its a mix of his and scar's colors, because soulmates, and B. because of the cake

Scar:

Yep, you're not seeing things, he is getting more scars as the next seasons happen. The first scar he gains is over one of his eyes, and its a heavily stylized bird footprint. Because Grian killed him and all. Second scar he gets, its an arrow wound, because he lost his last life to an arrow from ren.

I like to think he loses color each death. I just forgot that on DL, lol.

he lost a shoe, because he would. and the other notes are on the image lol.

"hey moth why are his eyes purple??" well! I have an answer for you! in my hc, soulmates get matching eyes! Each character has their own shade of the life count color, and it blends with their soulmate's. Grian, though, is an exception to that rule. Because he's a watcher pretty much indulging in the games, he doesn't die, die. he just kinda... taps out. but because he's a watcher, he doesn't lose lives, and doesn't change his eye color. scar's eyes are only one shade of green because grian's still trying to hide the whole watcher thing. as desertduo gets closer to death, he stops trying to hide it, and the color creeps into scar's eyes. hence the purple.

i mostly write hermitcraft, mindcrack, (third) life smp. i really don't watch that many people so it mostly stick to what i know (i came from mindcrack so, mostly them). i have no plans to expand to other mcyt people outside of those mentioned but i have written for these fandoms in the past under different name(s).

in regards to that as well, i am pretty picky on how i write this kinda thing. i dont indulge in any headcanons or theories other than my own and i dont really ship (in a traditional way ig). usually i imply that the world is a 'game' being played, but never actually write outside of the game (irl). i have a lot of my own "rules" for how it can work so, you can probably add it all up to get ideas on how my universe idea functions.

can write angsty things, hurt/comfort (may not define it the way some of yall do...), a little fluff perhaps- but i do like to be funny and complicated. i dont like super fluffy gooey cutesy stuff either, my 'fluff' just means i dont get super deep. sometimes i lean on humor, sometimes i dont... depends on the vibes. i like to get philosophical and meta at times too.

in terms of "ships" i dont really consider myself a shipper despite using some of those tags ... its mostly done for exposure purposes- you will likely see most of what i write between pairs is either vague, non-romantic, or just suggestive. i like to play into the humorous flirting they actually do, the suggestive jokes, or whatever else. i like to bring up ships in a joking manner (ex. situations that ppl jokingly interpret as suggestive when its not, playful comments about being a 'couple' etc). so when i normally write, its not on my mind in a typical way? but it can be suggestive enough i may tag it as such. i will take some requests along those lines, but i wont write pairs im not familiar with.

i may answer requests in drabbles. if i like it a lot, a full fic. i may answer the asks themselves, or i may not- it depends on how closely i feel i followed a suggestion!
