No wonder why Fourteen is the reincarnation that needs to heal, that needs to stop, that needs to retire… considering everything that happened to Thirteen.
Every reincarnation had their hard moments, but I feel like Thirteen really went through A LOT.
After all :
she fell from her TARDIS just after she regenerate
she had to fight evil while still regenerating, a thing the Doctor rarely did with new people around
she had to make her sonic screwdriver herself
she lost her TARDIS (almost twice)
she made a friend she can never see again or it would destroy the universe
she had to face the consequences of her mercy
she learnt that the one who once was her friend is back
also yes, Gallifrey is destroyed
also also, she discovered she had other regenerations but zero memories about it
also also also, she learnt that she wasn’t from the dimension she had always known
she was so knock-out by this new that she didn’t try to escape from prison
she spent A FEW DECADES in prison
surrounded by some of her worst enemies
while trying to find more about her past, the Flux was coming
she learnt that she was the reason the Flux was created
until she ended the Flux, she didn’t take a break
she was splint in three
one of herself was tortured physically and mentally, mind and body destroyed and reborn over and over again
she had to see the erasure of multiple planets and species
everything she knew about time were lies
while struggling with her feelings towards a human she knew she couldn’t grow with, some of her ex-companions reappeared
she had been forced regenerated
while trying to free one of the great mysteries of the universe, her nemesis used it to wound her fatally
she regenerated alone, not wanting Yaz to be the new Rose, or Clara
I loved how caring, dynamic, curious and positive this incarnation was, despite the fact that she had no idea Who she was herself. It showed a vulnerability in the Doctor that we don’t often see and her lack of hubris was refreshing (considering it was the thing I hated the most about Ten).
Even if those seasons had many, many inconsistencies, unclear timelines and strange ideas, I loved her era and how Russel T Davies showed her trauma through Fourteen’s eyes, proving that this was the last straw that broke the Doctor in two (hehe) and how much he needed to rest. It was an astounding performance by David Tennant who didn’t act like Ten but indeed like Fourteen, it was positively insane.
However, I’m also really scared that Russel just throws away everything else that happened to Thirteen. Especially the good. Fourteen does have a family now, but he better not forgets his « fam ». He better not forgets he was a brilliant woman. Perhaps the strongest doctor.

Given that my post about why you are not obligated to blog about Current Events (whatever they are at any given time) is going around again, I'd like to say the same thing from a slightly different angle and state what you ARE obligated to do.
You are still not obligated to blog about ANY specific subject, no matter how serious, no matter how urgent, no matter how grave. You never will be. The impact of social media on real world atrocities has the potential to be great, but it is cumulative. No one is going to die in a ditch somewhere, barely uttering the tragic final words, "if only...if only...tumblr users wormhentaiafficionado and mothmanbutthole...posted about how sad they are...then maybe things would be different..." - nor are policymakers going to change their minds because some tweet has 749,845 cumulative likes and retweets instead of 750,000. Make no mistake, if you have the energy to be sharing these kinds of things, it can be good to do! We live in a society, it's always good to help where you can, even if all you can do is show public support for people who are hurting - but if you can't do that, for any reason, you're not obligated to. Period. End of.
What are you obligated to do?
1. Give people the benefit of the doubt. Social media accounts are not most people's entire lives. Just because someone isn't blogging about whatever tragedy is occurring does not mean they don't care. Sometimes it does mean that, sure, and that sucks - but not only are you not going to change that by yelling at them, sometimes it means they care too much. Sometimes it means they're closer to it than you assumed and need a moment to think about something else, anything else. Sometimes it means it's not safe for them to be blogging about it, be it due to abusive family potentially finding out, being at risk of getting fired and quite possibly dying of poverty sooner rather than later, or even taking very illegal direct action that they do not want to be linked to on record in even the vaguest possible way. Sometimes it means dealing with it is their day job and they're on the internet after a long and exhausting day of trying to make things better. You don't know. You'll never know unless they decide to tell you. No one owes you that explanation. You are obligated to make peace with that fact.
2. Slow the fuck down.
Listen. When bad things happen, from natural disasters, to manmade horrors beyond our comprehension, it's only normal to get scared and desperate to do something, anything about it. That heightened emotional state is very vulnerable, and because of that, there will always be people out there looking to take advantage of the chaos for ulterior motives - and no matter how good your intentions, and in fact no matter how right you are in your values and at the core of your strategy, you will never be immune to garbage-in-garbage-out. Misinformation can be deadly, even in the hands of someone who means well. You need to pause long enough to sort out the garbage. You need to learn to fight the impulse to trust every single post that tells you that your share/comment/etc. is URGENT and WILL mean the difference between life and death for someone, somewhere. Do your fact checks. Scan for dogwhistles before you end up passing around a post that implies [insert group that is marginalized in most of the English-speaking world but has hegemonic power in some other part of the world and is committing some atrocity there] is coming after you next if you stay silent. Vet charity and advice links before you accidentally send scared, desperate, and vulnerable people to a scammer - or worse, hand them over to a honeypot operation or give them a recipe for poisonous "medicine".
Or, to put it another way, you are obligated to make an attempt to stay informed enough to avoid making things materially worse. You are not obligated to doomblog. In fact, doomblogging can be antithetical to your obligation to not make things worse. Choosing neutrality in times of great tragedy and injustice is bad, yes, but you should immediately be wary of anyone who says that simply not blogging about a subject - let alone not sharing a specific post - is inherently "choosing neutrality".
So remember: breathe. Be careful out there. Mourn for the people that whatever atrocity has this or my other post circulating has taken from us or will take from us, and do your best to be kind to the people who are still alive - and remember that kindness includes using social media responsibly.

RVBtober 8+9 > fall + revelation "You know, sometimes, when somebody falls off a cliff in movies, he's actually just over the edge, hanging on a tree branch or something." "Nope. He's definitely dead."
... and he is. presumably.
(also if you ever decide to try and make a 2-page comic in 2 days even if half of it is just a paintover. don't do that. that's the devil talking)

This was originally just supposed to be me having fun exploring what Ephemer would be like as a teacher but it got a bit out of hand in a good way (but I think I spent way too long on this lol)
Notes:
I wholeheartedly believe that teaching is Eph’s true passion. While writing Overmorrow, I came to realize that his role as a teacher/master is necessary in ensuring that light and the will of the keyblade lives on, but it’s also something he would just genuinely enjoy doing on a personal level. Aside from being able to infodump to his heart’s content (that’s a big deal! 😄), he can also help, inspire, and lead as a teacher! I think if he does actually establish the Keyblade order/academy in canon, it would be his pride and joy
Eph’s actual classroom may not have looked like kh3/dr’s, but I like to believe it was probably similarly designed. (He learned a lot about teaching from Hestia 🥰)
Lyra first appeared here :) the rest of the students are new, I made them up on the spot
my ass could not have handled making Overmorrow as a webcomic

Every time I see people say they want the Master to be the Timeless Child I think about the idea of a refugee child who was kidnapped & tortured & had their mind wiped... & it made them evil.
Not really a message I'd love, if I'm gonna be honest.

imagine being jonathan sims season 4 for a sec. you’ve been brought back to life to be the sugar baby of eldritch deity nosey bitch. side effect you’re angrily mowing a shopping cart around Tesco because a man’s gotta eat. u get like tortellini but realize that you forget your favorite flavor of trauma (and the marinara sauce) in aisle 2. you slurp a paranormal experience out the head of some random patron as Shape of You blasts over the speakers. you get into the driver’s seat on the right side cause to top it all off you’re british. turn on the radio to hear the news or something (that coma put you six months behind on current events) but end up crying to Happier by Bastille bc the coworker that used to simp for you serves Depression & your entire department is threatening to put you down

if you want to provide that list of 13’s episodes i would love it as a crash course<33 i’ve been meaning to catch up but haven’t had the time and the End Of The Semester is here so i probably won’t have time for an actual catch up until break. in like 3 weeks:( also for that earlier ask, i watched the special with absolutely 0 leadup besides a vague memory of 13’s first season and the stuff i’ve been lightly spoiled on as a result of existing On Here and was not really confused at all, though i definitely want to go back and watch the 13->14 regeneration scene, so it’s definitely not super heavy on stuff from 13 yet!
thank you for enabling me anon i owe you my life <3
this list has both episodes that are important to the plot and episodes that i personally enjoy, and i'll mark the plot relevant ones in bold
1. the woman who fell to earth
2. the ghost monument
3. demons of the punjab
4. kerblam!
5. the witchfinders
6. it takes you away
7. the battle of ranskoor av kolos - season finale so i'm including it but not terribly important to the whole thing
7. spyfall pt1 and 2 - both important to the plot and a personal favorite
8. nikola tesla's night of terror
9. fugitive of the judoon
10. the haunting of villa diodati
11. the timeless children - not a good episode per se but you have to watch it to understand things (even if the things in question suck so bad)
12. the flux (aka s13 from the halloween apocalypse to the vanquishers)
this one is weird because it's a series of interconnected episodes, so you can't really pick and choose. its weird and confusing but i still recommend it because of dan my best friend dan
13. eve of the daleks - my absolute favorite episode of the entire 13 era
14. the power of the doctor
