Something different today! :D
(now to preface, I'm not an artist so I'm a lil nervous, I just like colouring books)
My 1st page of the linked universe colouring book done.
The line art (Is that right? I think that's the word) is done by the wonderful @beyondtheglowingstars (Or supernova)
I fell in love with your Sky piece and just knew it had to be my first page to colour. The line art was just so soft and lovely and I love Sky and Crimson so much they are beloved.
Hope if its alright if I put it up on my wall. :D
Thank you for drawing this for the colouring book, it's amazing!

it's so hard to believe (but i'm trying to change)
1.4k, fig missing scene, canon-compliant
Fig follows Quincy home after warlock class for two reasons and two reasons only—the first reason is because he’s suspicious and may pose a security threat for (future) President Applebees. The second reason is because he’s a narc and a shitty bitch.
(or: fig goes on a walk and thinks about gilear.)
(read on ao3)
this week's follow up is about the fact that gilear still hasn't, like, even reached out to fig at all to let her know that hes gonna be gone for... a year? because what the fuck, man.

not sure how I feel about bigeneration yet, but I do think the specials having a recurring ‘multiple doctors’ motif (metacrisis donna&rose, wild blue yonder no-bodies) was a nice touch

For the five sentence fics:
“So, now that everything has gone horribly wrong, what was your plan B?”
Mungojerrie and Rumpleteazer both glared at Misto, clearly very irritated by the question. It was times like this where Misto remembered that aside from being his silly friends, they were also respected, notorious thieves within the cat crime world.
“You. You are our plan B,” Teazer informed him, before promptly shoving him off the shelf. Letting out a yowl of surprise, Misto righted himself so he landed on his feet. He was, after all, currently taking the form of a cat, and while occasionally it had its drawbacks (notably hairballs), having the ability to regularly land on his feet was definitely a bonus.
The tuxedo tom scowled up at the twins. “What was that for?!”
“Please fix stuff,” Mungojerrie asked, giving an angelical grin (that definitely didn’t make Misto’s heart beat a little too fast) and gesturing a paw at the broken China pieces all over the dining room floor, “And preferably before that stupid Peke comes back, barking its head off!”

Okay so just some random lil thoughts over the last couple days that I’ve been thinking about because of this post :
lil edit for you all *this has been sitting in my drafts for a very long time, just finally had some time to finish typing it all out haha*
There’s such an interesting thing behind the dishes Curtain has with his guests in the show. Let’s do a lil analysis:
First one we have is Caesar salad with Reynie in his office. Now I don’t know if it’s just irony or if it’s on purpose, but you’ll notice that the table is set in exactly the same direction as when he eats with Sticky. This got me thinking about the set (because I like connecting those dots) and you’ll notice that both the boys are centered between those two paintings of fake bookshelves. There’s so much symbolism in this - they are entrapped by these “bookshelves” (within the cameras purview). Curtain’s entrapment of the children isolated them, one by one, within his facade as he tries to manipulate them to do exactly what he wants. Also, as funny and ironic as this part is, the fact that it’s Caesar salad and knowing that Caesar was betrayed was kinda funny. That note aside, there’s some specific things about Caesar salad that should have some attention. Think about the fact that it’s salad - salads are light and kind of superficial - the way the salad is presented is part of this, as Curtain is basically putting on a show for Reynie. He’s offering this facade - because he sees part of himself in Reynie, but it’s all really surface level. Nothing too deep other than his emotional trauma that he casually brings up as part of his manipulation tactics.
Next, we have the Wagyu steaks with Sticky. Just another magic show from our favorite master manipulator. There’s quite a bit to unpack with this one - but to put it simply, putting that large of a cut of expensive steak in front of Sticky was a power move. Curtain has Sticky right where he wants him - and is getting things his way. He’s basically demonstrating not only his power, but also demonstrating to Sticky that he’s completely dependent on Curtain. It’s a mirror of his lunch with Reynie - but not only does he see himself even more in Sticky (and is suspecting Reynie of betrayal), there’s just a deeper connection in general. I’d like to think he’s expressing some real care during this scene, even with his lil scheme behind it all. I’ve always found his line about over-saucing interesting too. “It’s clumsy and disrespects the animal.” This really demonstrates his almost moral high ground of sorts - he’s got to be able to exercise that and at the same time, it’s a sort of teaching moment…? I don’t know. I just feel like this scene has a deeper feel to it - but you’ll notice that Sticky is in the same position that Reynie was - between the “bookshelf” paintings.
And then we have tea time with Nicky and Number Two. Tea time is usually a social call with friends - I don't know a whole lot about traditions with tea time, but I feel like it's usually with more of an intimate circle. You don't just share deep life deets with anyone, part of the fun of it is sharing it with people that matter. I think this is part of Curtain beginning to invite Nicholas back in - even with his silly little blueberry trick, I think there's a part of him that thinks he'll begin to convince Nicholas he's good if he has a more intimate setting to get reacquainted.
One that might not count as much but is still kinda… I have ideas okay and when he mentions the goat yogurt with berries I had a couple thoughts. Much like the Caesar salad with Reynie, this is something light. He offers it to Nicholas - which I think is interesting considering that he's trying to convince Nicky that what he's doing is good. Yogurt is inherently kinda tangy, slightly sour, but it covers the whole tongue. Fruit brings in citric acid, that breaks up the yogurt. Balances everything out. The combination of the two can totally represent Curtain approaching Nicholas with what he's doing - it's not exactly a sweet and perfectly harmless thing he's doing, but he thinks if he balances his approach - the tangy and the sour and the citrus - that it'll come across in a way Nicholas will think is good.
Lastly, Crepes Suzette with Number Two. Oranges are inherently kind of a happy sort of fruit - in essential oils, orange is often used to help promote the production of dopamine in the brain. Another fun fact about crepes suzette actually, is that it uses orange liqueur - which by the way is like alcohol, very fun to cook with because it either cooks down to a syrup consistency or you LiGhT iT oN FiRe. In the case of crepes suzette, you light it on fire. lil flambe. Anyways, crepes are super delicate - kinda hard to make honestly cause they're so thin. I think the symbolism behind this one is because he wants Number Two to lighten things up a bit. (funny, cause fLaMbE) But he wants her to be happy, so Nicholas will be a little more at ease - he also recognizes this is a delicate situation (crepe part) - and he's got to approach her carefully - he's got to smooth things over (alcohol content in orange liqueur).
okay so maybe I went WAY too in depth with all of this - but culinary school kinda ruined me in this way so I overthink food and presentation and meaning behind meals and such now.
