my thing abt jane birkin is that people treat her like some little aesthetic doll rather than a real human being.

(take this as someone who has read her autobiography and had/still has a huge obsession with her)

she had many flaws and also many lovely personality traits and yes she was a style icon but she was also so much more than that. I find it very difficult to put into words but i keep seeing videos of just montages of pictures being like ‘she was such an icon’ ‘she was so pretty’ ‘she influenced so many’ and to me it just feels slightly desensitising idk.

it’s just indicative to me of a wider problem where ppl see celeb women they look up to as these little ‘things’. Maybe it’s not that deep but i just feel like people have such a romanticised view of her and especially in her death i feel like she deserves to be treated as a full human being.

and I think it’s particularly poignant because she’s always said that she actually grew into her style a lot more as an older woman. sometimes she even talks abt feeling embarrassed about her younger self for doing so much because she felt that she was definitely overcompensating and loved the freedom when being older of not wearing so much makeup and exploring her more androgynous side.

i just feel that montages of her in her 20s with lana del rey edits are not the only thing i want to see abt her. idk.

I 10/10 extorted an invitation from her (well, it was more like she told me I had to come), and - if it works with you - for her birthday present from me, I'd love to make her an artifact that she receives in your campaign. For example, a leather-bound journal in an ornate box, or a piece of elven jewelry, or some sort of dragon loot, etc. I can make a lot of different things! (Also, it's so fun to receive things in-campaign. I remember getting Claremont's journal in the ancient ruins. It was such a treat!) Dunno how many kids will be sitting at the table, but chances are, if it's something small (or something that the Cricut can do), I can make something for all the kids at the table, too. Let me know!

listen there really was just something about how in the book, snow’s 3-page descent from hesitant lover boy to deluded psychopath happens entirely in his mind. lucy gray gives him no indication whatsoever that she suspects him, that she’s going to leave or betray him. he’s just sitting quietly in the cabin waiting for her to return when that seed of calculated suspicion, which he has needed to survive the capitol, takes a hold of him and chokes the life out of any goodness left inside him. it really drives home your terror as a reader that “oh my god did he kill her? did she escape? what happened to her? why would he even think that?” in a way that when the movie had to adjust for visualization it lost some of that holy shit this guy has lost it emphasis.
