“you’re a piece of hot flaming garbage!”
Todoroki x Kaitlyn
✧・゚: *✧・゚:* *:・゚✧*:・゚✧
Genre: fluff, self-insert oc x character
Warnings: cursing, angst if you squint, Endeavor🤢
Word count: 2k
A/N: this ended up being a lot longer than I thought it would. this is canon to the current ‘storyline’ we have decided to play out over on @kait-answers, @stephie-answers, & @lei-answers. I had a lot of fun portraying how I think I would act if this scenario actually happened. enjoy! :)
↠ After finally confessing to Todoroki, we manage to go on our first date. Not without an unwanted interruption, however.
✧・゚: *✧・゚:* *:・゚✧*:・゚✧
It’s Saturday night, and I’m so fucking nervous. I think I might puke. Going on a date with the sweet, heroic, powerful, handsome, and every other positive adjective in the dictionary boy that I’ve been pining after for a year is not as easy as I imagined it to be.
Y’know, going to Japan’s famous hero school will teach you a few things. How to properly use your Quirk, how to build support gear, how to piss off your friends, etc. but the one thing they fail to account for is how to be an average teenager, with hormones and shit. So, when I first saw Shoto Todoroki for the first time at the first-year sports festival, I didn’t know how I felt. American boys are great and all, but this is the first time I feel like I am genuinely liked. Now here I am, at a nice restaurant, across from the person that holds my heart in his hands.
The restaurant Todoroki made reservations at is fantastic. Beautiful lights hang from the ceiling; everything is decorated with black, gold and red accents, and wooden chairs and tables. The table we’re sitting has this amazing view of the sunset, and the light cascading over us makes it ethereal. Candles and a vase of flowers also accentuate the romantic mood. I couldn’t even afford to eat here if I tried. The place isn’t too packed, and the hostess gushed at us when we came in. That was humiliating.
I look great, or at least I think I do. Although, that’s all thanks to Steph and Lei. Lei altered my dress and added lace detailing, complementing the light blue satin material nicely. It has a flowy skirt, spaghetti straps, and I paired it with some simple ballet flats. Steph insisted that I at least wear some makeup, so I let her do some light mascara, blush, eyeshadow, and lip gloss. I did my hair, straightening it and doing a half-up-half-down updo.
I rub my sweaty palms on my napkin, adjust my glasses, and absentmindedly fiddle with the pendant around my neck. I really wish I knew how to start a conversation and not be awkward. Coincidentally, we both ordered soba. I’m also pretty sure I saw two mysterious figures that looked particularly like my best friends.
“Um, thank you again...for this. You look really nice.” I start. “By the way.” Todoroki looks at me, and I freeze. He looks perfect. He’s dressed in a simple white button-down that complements his red and white hair and beautiful heterochromatic eyes. He looks straight out of a magazine.
“You’re welcome. It’s my first time doing this kind of thing, so I hope it’s to your liking. You look nice as well.” He gives me a small, gentle smile, and I swear to god I would’ve melted right on the spot. I smile back at him, genuinely.
“So…how's the hero work going?” I ask.
“Good. I’m participating in a work-study right now.” Todoroki responds. “How’s the support course?” He asks me.
“It’s good! I recently finished Stephanie’s upgraded mask, and now I’m working on Lei’s hero costume. I’m thinking of making her gloves and making her actual suit lighter. I have so many ideas…” I didn’t realize I was rambling until suddenly there was a bowl of soba in front of me. “Oh. Uh, sorry, Todoroki. I was rambling,”
“It’s fine, Kaitlyn. I enjoy listening to you speak about something you seem so passionate about. But please, call me Shoto.” Todoroki says bluntly. A fierce heat spreads across my cheeks as I comprehend what he just said.
“Okay. S-Shoto. Are you sure that’s okay? I-I know that’s kind of a big deal in Japan, and…” I trail off. His given name sounds strange with my accent, but it feels right. “Shoto,” I say again, testing the pronunciation.
It was now Shoto’s turn to be flustered. A light pink color had blossomed on his face, and it was adorable. A giggle erupts from my lips without warning.
“Is something funny?” Shoto asks me. He tilts his head to the side in confusion, slurping on his noodles.
“No, it’s just, you’re cute when you’re blushing,” I say, half surprised by my forwardness. Oh my god. Why did I say that? Shoto looks like he doesn’t know what to say. Instead, the blush deepens, he coughs and changes the subject. I guess I'll take that as a good thing.
“Do they have soba in America?” He inquires. I look down at the half-eaten, delicious meal in front of me and think.
“Not exactly. They have different types of noodles and Americanized versions, but none are as good as this. I’m not surprised that it’s your favorite food.” I explain.
“Hmm,” he nods, “how do you know it’s my favorite food?”
Dammit. I exposed myself.
“Um , I kinda...memorized your schedule and noticed that you got cold soba at lunch every day. I figured it was your favorite.” I scratch the back of my neck nervously and blush again.
“Oh. You like spicy curry, but sometimes you get warm soba. I also memorized your schedule, but I didn’t mean to.” He casually adds.
“Yeah, I do. I like spicy food. Soba is delicious as well.” I smile. I don’t show it, but butterflies flutter in my stomach at his words. Maybe he does really like me.
✧・゚: *✧・゚:* *:・゚✧*:・゚✧
After finishing dinner, I feel like I’m on cloud nine. Laughter bubbles up from my chest as Shoto tells me about how he thought he was the “hand crusher” because of how Midoriya and Iida got injured in their first year.
“Hand crusher? Really?!” I laugh. “I am the hand crusher.” I hold up my hand and playfully mock Shoto’s formal, monotone voice.
“Don’t mock my concern for my friends, Kait. I might crush your hand too.” Shoto smirks. For a split second, I fear he’s serious, but the light expression that plays on his usually stoic features says otherwise. “I remember that time I was passing by your class and you stabbed yourself with a pencil using your Quirk.”
“Oh, yeah. I was actually, um, staring at you...” I chuckle, slightly embarrassed as I recall the memory.
“Really?” Shoto wonders.
“It’s really embarrassing telling you this, but my Quirk activates and is harder to control when I’m feeling a strong emotion. I still have the led mark.” I laugh again, and I notice Shoto staring at me. I look at him and he looks away. We both blush.
We continue to walk side by side, heading back to U.A, and I admire the scenery. The night sky is beginning to peek out from the horizon and stars twinkle brightly on it. I look back at Shoto, but his expression changed drastically, and he stepped in front of me.
Then I see him. Endeavor, the number one hero, stands in front of us, scowling. His towering presence was scary up close, and his flames were warm and threatening, unlike Shoto’s. I have a strong urge to flip him off.
“Shoto.” Endeavor booms. Jeez, even his voice is rude.
“Father. What are you doing here?” Shoto scowls back.
“I have your location on my phone. I was not aware that you would be out tonight.”
“Yeah, well, I don’t have to tell you everything.” Endeavor ignores Shoto’s remark and turns in my direction. I gulp.
“Who are you?!” The older Todoroki demands. Shoto opens his mouth to say something, but I speak first. it’s better to be polite than nothing.
“Hello, I’m Kaitlyn Grant. I attend U.A with Shoto.” I say formally. Hopefully my accent isn’t too obvious. Endeavor raises a brow, presumably at my use of his son’s given name.
“Are you in the hero course? What’s your Quirk?” He interrogates. I take a breath, trying to hide my nervousness.
“N-No sir, I’m in the support course. M-My Quirk is Psychokinesis, meaning I can manipulate the environment using my mind. It’s not very strong…” I mumble that last part. I avoid his glare, opting to mess with my fingers instead. The tension in the air is thick and awkward. I can feel his judgment.
“You seem weak. How do I know you’re good enough to date my son?” Endeavor’s voice reverberates in my ears. Ouch. How would you know that when I don’t even know that? “I just want what’s best for you, Shoto.”
“Can’t you see you’re making her uncomfortable? Please leave us. We should get back to school now.” Shoto steps forward.
“Fine. We’ll discuss this later.” The number one hero starts to continue his patrol route, but not without sparing me another icy glare. A mixture of anger and anxiety forms a pit in my stomach. I'm about to do something I'll most likely regret later.
“You’re a piece of hot flaming garbage!” I see Shoto holding back a chuckle in my peripheral. At this point I don’t know if he can hear me, but I don’t care. A faint green glow surrounds me as I float a small rock towards me. Before I lose momentum, I propel it in Endeavor’s direction.
It hits the back of his head and he looks back. “Oh, shit.” I curse.
Without thinking, I quickly grab Shoto’s hand and take off running. Thank goodness I wore flats. Luckily, campus is not too far away.
“Oh my god. Shoto, I’m so sorry, I don’t know what came over me.” I breathe, exasperated. I stop running because we finally arrive in front of the 2-H dorms’ door. I still have a grip on his hand. It feels nice. I looked up to find Shoto standing mere inches away from me. The height difference making it so that he could easily bend down and kiss my forehead. Why am I thinking about that?
“I can’t believe I hit the number one hero with the rock!” I exclaim.
“Thank you.” Shoto whispers. He uses his free hand to tuck a strand of hair behind my ear. It feels like time stops when his fingers brush my cheek.
“Thank you? What?! I made a terrible impression!! He doesn’t think I’m good enough! What if...what if I’m not good enough.” I panic and tears prick at the corners of my eyes. However, Shoto stops me by letting go of my hand and wrapping his arm around my waist.
“Look at me. I don’t care what my father says. I had a wonderful time with you and I found your outburst quite amusing.” He flashes me another small smile.
“You are good enough, Kaitlyn. I’ve liked you long enough to realize that, even if you don’t.”
Those words are enough to dissolve the pit in my stomach. I think back to when I confessed to him and my cheeks grow red. Throwing caution to the wind, I lean up on my toes and place a peck on his lips. Shoto pulls me closer and I hope he can’t hear my rapid heartbeat.
The kiss is quick and awkward, but I wouldn’t have it any other way. We pull apart and I smile widely for the millionth time tonight.
“Thank you, Shoto. I had a really great time as well.” My phone vibrates in my pocket, making me jump. What a way to ruin the moment. “Sorry,” I have 20 missed calls and 46 messages, either from Hatsume, Steph, or Lei. I ignore them.
“Don’t apologize, it’s late and you should get inside. Here, have my phone number so you can contact me.” Shoto holds out a piece of paper with his contact information. When did he have time to write that? Nevermind. I take the slip of paper and twirl it in between my fingers.
“I’ll see you later? I don’t really know what to say...” I say to him.
“It’s okay. Goodnight, Kait. Sleep well.” Shoto looks at me before slowly heading back to his dorm. I laugh to myself at his short reply. Not unusual for him, but yes, it’s okay. Everything is.
Now alone, I stand there a second to take it all in. I went on a date with Shoto Todoroki, kissed him (again), I hit his father with a rock, and called him “a piece of hot flaming garbage”. Typical first date things.
I feel like screaming, but in a good, “oh my fucking god, I can’t fucking believe that actually happened”, way.
Now if only I could get Lei to go on a date with Shinsou. That was an ordeal for another time.

Hey! I saw your ask box was open! Can I request a scenario of Bakugou and fem reader meeting up on rooftops in between hectic training schedules and just..., being fluffy and cute. Thanks and have a good day
lucky for you I’m craving some fluff and I’m feeling lonely af, enjoy
That ash blond wasn’t surprised when he arrived at the location you two planned to meet at after both of your work shifts. Almost every time the two of you did decide to come out you were always late, whether it be because of your agency letting you out late or your poor taste in responsibility, Bakugou was always expecting such of you.
Grumbling out a string of annoyed curses, Bakugou kicked his boots against the cool cement of the roof while he waited for his idiot beloved to arrive.
As much as the ash blond wasn’t pleased with your absence, he had a sense of understanding for your reasoning. The two of you had barely seen each other all week and you lived in the same apartment, he knew how hard you had been working so he supposed your tardiness would have to due.
Deciding to sit near the ledge, the ash blond placed the bag of diabetes goodies he had gotten for you behind him to create some element of surprise for you.
Though he would never admit it, even Bakugou’s strong ego couldn’t help the warm feeling in his chest whenever you smiled or shrieked in excitement. Ever since high school he swore he would never come to grips with the idea of love, who could ever love an asshole like himself?
He wasn’t sure if it was fate or some sort of god watching his back, but some all forgiving being placed you in his life, truly an angel from heaven.
You were unlike anyone he had ever met; so kind and gentle yet you didn’t let Bakugou or anyone else for that matter walk all over you, so fragile and radiant yet so fierce and powerful, you were the perfect embodiment of a miracle in Bakugou’s life
The ash blond hadn’t even noticed how lost in thought he was until his attention was brought to the sound of rugged grunts and pants.
“Stupid b..broken latter, I’m about to go into cardiac arrest then Katsuki will really kill me…”
Bakugou’s head whipped back to the source, a small grin forming at his lips at the familiar sound of your whining voice. Shuffling over to the sound, he waited for you two finally reach the top while looking down at you with an unimpressed face.
“You havin’ trouble climbing a latter (hero name)?” The ash blond taunted, enjoying the way your lips curved into a perfect pout before you let your back flop on the ground underneath your boyfriend’s legs.
Lifting one arm up, you laid the other one across your face dramatically as you sighed, “Can’t. Move. Legs. Muscles. Too. Sore.”
Bakugou’s smug expression turned to one of annoyance as you faked out your sob story, with a groan he bent down and scooped underneath your shoulders, lifting you to your feet effortlessly causing a squeak to escape your lips.
“Jeez there Hercules, don’t break my shoulders now!” You exclaimed as you spun around to him, blinking at him owlishly as he gave you a rather stern and serious expression.
“I make Hercules look like a twig.”
Raising a brow up to the ash blond you couldn’t help but burst into laughter, knowing he meant every word he said no matter how hilarious it sounded coming from his serious scrunched up face.
“There’s my cocky Katsuki, I missed you baby.” You said softly, placing a quick peck on his lips before wrapping your arms around his back.
Bakugou tensed up at the sudden feeling, but instantly melted into your embrace, his strong arms holding you close to him as he inhaled your familiar scent.
How you wished you could stay in his embrace forever, but there would be more time for that later, there was a more exciting matter on your mind.
“Sooo, I know I’m like late all the time but today I had a valid reason!” You exclaimed with a wide grin as you tugged out of Bakugou’s tight grasp, “I bought you your favorite spicy thai noodles!”
The ash blond hadn’t even noticed the box of noodles behind your back surprisingly, but sure enough he recognized the bright box decorated in colorful flames in your hands.
Letting out a quiet grumble of gratitude, Bakugou took the box out of her hands before dragging her over to the edge of the roof where his bag was.
“Don’t you think you outdid me shitty girl, I got your favorite udon soup,” Bakugou mumbled, shoving the take out bag in your hands before sitting down against a rusty air conditioning box, “And I got it for free because I’m fucking awesome.”
You smiled happily at the container of your favorite soup before looking down to your boyfriend with a deadpanned expression, “One of the perks of being famous babe, you remind me everyday.”
Bakugou’s eyes shifted up to your own as you sat down beside him, his eyes narrowing at the sound of you being unhappy.
“Who the fuck cares about being famous, you make all those shitty extras look like dog shit.”
Blinking over to the blond you smiled when you saw the concern hidden in his crimson eyes.
“Don’t worry Suki I was only teasing you, I don’t care about fame, I only care about the number one hero~” You purred, grinning as the ash blond began to move over expectantly for some sort of kiss. Instead you poked his cheek with one of your chopsticks “~the number one hero bringing me my favorite soba of course.”
Suddenly Bakugou’s eyes opened, his lips turning into a scowl as he shifted his head towards the other buildings, ignoring his girlfriend’s gaze as she bursted into laughter.
“Don’t be mad babe! I’m just teasing you my ticking time bomb, of course my only care in the world is not just the worlds number one hero…” You started with a small smile as your hand reached up to touch his bicep softly, “but my number one hero.”
The ash blond froze under your calm touch, your soft words melting his brain to mush as his cheeks began to flush a deep scarlet. Letting out a huff the ash blond looked away from you and started shoveling his noodles in his mouth.
“Just eat your shitty soup will you dumbass!”
Letting out a soft laugh that made Bakugou’s heart and soul feel as if he was on cloud nine, you decided to take his advice and dig into your soup before it got two cold.
The two of you sat like this for awhile in silence, basking in each others presence. While some find silence awkward, you two found it as a necessary factor to your relationship. It was a level of respect you both held for each other, the need to relax yet still have each other’s loving presence to calm the other partner down.
Once your soup began to run low, you scraped your chop sticks around the edge to get any extra noodles left before looking over to your boyfriend.
“So, what’d you do today Katsuki? Kiss any babies? Get trampled by fangirls?”
Bakugou let out a small chuckle, not being able to stop himself from laughing at your dorky humor, “Hell no I told my agent to cut that publicity shit out, today I just patrolled all day, had one hell of a fight but nothing I couldn’t handle.”
You let out a quiet hum of acknowledgement, nodding at his words. She knew eventually he would snap on his agent, she had an old fashioned way of thinking and only focused on Bakugou’s popularity polls rather than actual heroism.
“The fuck did you do today to get that nasty gash?”
Suddenly your body froze halfway through you slurping the last noodle of your soup into your mouth. You knew how protective Bakugou tended to be, no matter how many times you proved yourself. It was clear he knew you could handle yourself, but that didn’t stop his protective boyfriend tendencies from coming up.
“G..Gash? I don’t know what your talking about Suki, you must be seeing things from exhaustion.” You said as casually as possible, wiping your mouth with the spare napkins before a shriek escaped your lips as the ash blond roughly lifted your ankle up causing the upper half of your body to slide to the ground.
“Try again (L/n), I have perfect fucking vision and I’m never exhausted,” Bakugou said smugly as he analyzed the bandages covered in red around your shin before his harsh eyes looked down to your own, “Now what the hell happened?”
Letting out a huff you lifted your body back up from your elbows and leaned your weight back against the air conditioner as you looked down sheepishly, “I was trying to save some kid from being smooshed under a crumbling building and a metal bar pierced my leg before I could run in time.”
The ash blond looked at you with suspicious eyes before looking back to your leg until he decided to finally drop your ankle back to the ground gently.
“You need to be fucking careful dumbass.”
Puffing your cheeks out you let out an annoyed huff, pointing an accusing finger to him, “You’re one to talk! Look at your entire body it’s always covered in scrapes and bruises!”
“True but I’m fucking hot so I’m allowed to be torn up.”
Bakugou couldn’t help the smirk that formed on his lips as you looked at him with your jaw dropped, clearly offended by his comment, your adorable reactions never ceased to make him laugh.
“That’s it… n..no more kisses for you all weekend!” You declared, sitting up straighter as if this master plan would put the number one hero in his place.
“Oh yeah? No kisses huh?”
Biting your lip stubbornly you folded your arms across your hero suit, nodding confidently as you batted your head away from him and let out a sassy huff, “That’s right Suki, no kisses for you all weekend.”
Rolling his crimson eyes, Bakugou sat up from his spot against the air conditioner and scooped your waist in his arms, “Looks like that means I’ll have to shower your fucking ass in kisses then.”
(E/c) eyes widening you suddenly dragged yourself from his grasp, attempting to break from his firm grasp as he smothered your arms with sloppy kisses.
“K..Katsuki stop this instant!” You exclaimed, eventually falling onto your back as the ash blond caged himself above you, a deviant smirk on his expression before he placed purposely sloppy kisses anywhere he saw your perfect.
Your face instantly scrunched up as you bursted into giggles, attempting to protect yourself with your hands which he only kissed as well.
Bakugou paused from his kissing attack when he caught a glimpse of your form, the sight truly taking the breath out of him.
The way your (h/c) locks sprawled out around your face, your smooth (s/c) skin glowing in the moonlight… then finally you opened your eyes at the sudden pause in Bakugou’s actions, your (e/c) eyes leaving the ash blond at a loss for words.
Looking up to Bakugou with concerned eyes, not sure why he was staring at you so intently, you opened your mouth to speak before he spoke up first.
“Fuck you are so beautiful.”
A sharp blush arose to your cheeks, especially since you had nothing use to hide from his loving glare. Letting out a dazed laugh you brought your hand to his cheek, your thumb rubbing against his soft skin before smiling warmly.
“Not as beautiful as you Suki.”
The two of you stared at each other once more, your eyes doing most of the talking until Bakugou smashed his lips up against yours without second thought.
Most of the times Bakugou’s kisses held a certain passion and roughness to them, and while it certainly held every bit of passion Bakugou had, this time it had a certain tenderness to it. As if Bakugou wanted to take his time and show every bit of appreciation he usually never could for you.
Once the two of you pulled away you stared at each other once more for a moment, both of you sharing the same stargazed look in your eyes.
Smiling softly you wrapped your arms around his neck and pressed your face into the collarbone of his uniform, “I love you Katsuki.”
Normally when Bakugou heard that daunting four letter phrase, he would freeze up, unaware on how to act or what to feel; but now the ash blond had felt that those words could never be more true and absolutely to him.
You were his and he was yours.
A rare smile flashed across Bakugou’s lips as he buried your face in your (h/c) locks, placing a firm kiss on your head before closing his eyes.
“I love you too (F/n).”
