WELL i have this one linked on a recent post but it’s so cute i’ll put it here too. it’s a cute percabeth impulsive marriage fic,, i accept it as canon in my mind

FOREVER HOUSE i accept this as canon too, it’s so cute and i love the way the author writes (idk how to put this into words but) annabeth

OH MY GOD i read this one a while ago and as i was scrolling through my ao3 history i found it again,, this one is absolutely adorable holy shit i’m gonna reread it. soulmates canon divergence <3 (also extra chapter for solangelo if that’s your thing)

this one has a bit of sexual content but it’s not smut or explicit, it’s more focused on annabeth’s trauma/upbringing and her being touch averse. i’m also an absolute whore for touch starved x physically affectionate so i love this fic

there is absolutely no plot here, just pure fluff, i love it

“it’s you, annabeth” i’m going to eat my mattress i love them, post tlo percabeth but a year after (no hoo, just fluff)

this one is kind of a shot in the dark bc i know a lot of people find these fics annoying or whatever but i loooove them,, like i said i’m a slut for time travel fics. this one isn’t really percabeth centric but instead focuses on like everyone and dives into their trauma and is all about healing from it. it’s not finished yet but holy shit it’s amazing so far. it’s a reading the books fic btw LMAO (i’ve been meaning to recommend this one for a while and nows the perfect time so here)

THE SWORD OF DAMOCLES IS SWINGING ⸺ this is the first book in a pjo au that i am working on, it is based on the books AND is not really based on the tv show series as i started it months before the show came out. it starts in the titan's curse and thus contains spoilers (for those who have only watched the show) for the lightning thief and sea of monsters. it is a slow burn luke castellan fic, with a little bit of grover underwood sprinkled in although as i'm writing it, i am currently considering that luke/oc/grover be the end pairing in the series. only time will tell what the endgame pairing will be. currently the book is focusing on found family and the roll the oc plays in the pjo verse.

I'm not sure how much you keep up with Percy Jackson and its spin-offs, personally I like the series, but my G-d it is NOT an accurate portrayal of Greek mythology whatsoever, as I'm sure you're aware! Did you know that Rick Riordan set it in the USA because of how great western civilization is and how Western countries are more relevant to modern society? I'm not even joking or exaggerating.

Honestly, I do think that putting the gods in US America can be justified for the right reasons. I don't think there's anything inherently offensive about the Underworld being under LA or Olympus being above NYC. Especially with the demigod camp being on Long Island, like, okay, you wanna keep the gods close by. It's a story about an American middle-school boy, so yeah, it'll be very American. That's fair.

But the reason the author gives for it is so offensive! If this was a story about, say, the Egyptian gods, more people would understand why "west is best" is an offensive thing to say, but I guess it doesn't matter when the gods/culture being adapted is white passing enough or whatever the fuck.

(Tbfh even if he'd said that about, say, the Norse gods, or something else that is undeniably white, it'd still be disrespectful as hell. America-centricism is so fucking exhausting!)

It's actually disappointing bc, even though the books aren't true to Greek myth (don't even get me started on how badly they portray Hades and literally blame him for WWII and imply Hitler is his son), they've gotten so many kids interested in greek mythology. Oh sure, there's some weirdos who read the books and claim to worship whoever their "godly parent" would be, but there's even more people who truly got so much knowledge and respect for actual mythology from the books! And as terrible as the Greek representation is, the other representation is done really well, especially in neurodivergency/disability. I obviously wish he'd handled race/ethnicity (and religion) better, but for all the 'offensive' stuff that exists in the books there's also so many great things. So many different portrayals of love and friendship and bravery.

It's honestly no wonder the books are still a comfort series even for those who have outgrown them, and it makes the offensive stuff even worse, almost like a betrayal in some way. It's not like Rick Riordan is going out of his way to be a fatphobic antisemitic TERF like some other YA fantasy authors out there. He's someone who seems to actually care about representation in his work, which makes it all the times more hurtful when he *doesn't* care or when he writes stuff like that.

ooooh yeaah I unfortunately know all this and have posted about this 4-5 times already 😂 An extremely imperialistic view, this author has. But in this USAmericanized world, people need to do some deconstruction to see the fucked up aspects of these books. I wouldn't be opposed to seeing the Greek gods in other countries in general but the reason they went to the US is very problematic - and I don't throw this word around easily.

As you said the series has good stuff too and it has brought joy to many kids worldwide (me included), so anyone who likes PJO don't think that I'm shitting on it too much 😄 But there are definitely some things to be addressed there and that we should discuss. Like how the attitude of the writer only continued the sense of entitlement and ownership the West has over Greek figures. And because Riordan usually cares, it's sad that he let his cultural biases define his most popular series.

Even before Jason explained how he got electrocuted, this reader was already emotionally attached to him.

And that's how OP ended up making a Jason Grace sideblog.

I’m just getting started with Jason Grace’s adventures in Heroes of Olympus and I’ve been loving him from the start when this confused amnesiac boy appeared in the bus of The Wilderness School and my love only grows as I read his POVs. He has become a comfort character that gives me so much joy!

But It’s kind of hard navigating his tag, when it’s filled with posts that are either people being hateful or dismissive towards him, Jason being compared to Percy, completely unrelated pjo posts that only tag him to gain traction or heartbreaking things about what happens to him later in canon.

Jason Grace’s story is one of hope, Roidan may have decided to destroy that but my stubborn heart won’t let go of the kid that was just starting to discover himself.

This sideblog will be my little scrapbook for Jason, filled with things I find interesting, from most recent content to unearthed things from the time HOO was coming out. Hopefully It maybe of the liking of others who are trying to find Jason centric content as well.

But be aware! I’m a multishipper, the kind to ship their faves with everyone, so expect to find Jason focused ships, I love to see my boy being loved :)

Update (1/15/24)

Hello! I'm alive (a shocker to us all, I'm sure)!

I've decided to start posting weekly updates on my writing to help keep me productive.

However, I am in a new semester where I'm taking eighteen (18!) credits, so I'm not sure how much writing will actually get done. Nearly half of those credits are for math and science, two of my least favorite subjects :(

Also, since my interests are prone to changing on a whim, I've decided to add a little "what I'm currently into" section on each update to keep y'all informed! I'm also adding which characters I'm focusing on, so if yall wanna talk to me about them, feel free!

due to the nature of my writing—short oneshots—they all mostly end happily! maybe IN THE NIGHT (mergwenthur with platonic merthur and merwen and romantic arwen) because it was just soft all the way down!

nope. some people have asked though! i was deeply honoured but i like to keep my fics on ao3 instead of any other site and they wanted to post elsewhere.

wait. i just remembered, oh my god. SCREAM. does 13 year old me's rp count? because that would retroactively change my answer to the crossover question since i DID do that. it was so godawful and was probably 100k—started out as bbc sherlock fic and then bbc merlin got in there along with doctor who and supernatural and probably every fandom under the sun after that. we never posted that anywhere (thank GOD) but what a time. i don't co-write now. not for any particular reason, but i don't think it's come up.

14. WHAT'S YOUR ALL TIME-FAVOURITE SHIP?

see, this question is so hard because i write and consume so much different media. at the moment, in my current doctor who phase, i'll say tenrose! ask me during a different phase and you will get a different answer hehehe <3

15. WHAT'S A WIP YOU WANT TO FINISH BUT DOUBT YOU WILL?

all of four of them 😭 one reason i write oneshots is because my interests wanes so fast. you'll be hard pressed to find me in the same hyperfixation for longer than a few months, but i always come back eventually. specifically, RENEGADE'S RETURN (dc dick grayson-centric) would be the WIP imo because i posted that with no intention to finish it. all the other ones i had hopes, but this one . . . no </3

16. WHAT ARE YOUR WRITING STRENGTHS?

prose and characterisation. i think i'm getting pretty good at writing in the pov character's voice. like if you take my house md fic and compare it to . . . i don't know my raven cycle fic, i think the voices are distinct enough even with my same writing style:

HOUSE MD: New Orleans sticks to House’s skin. It reminds him of the Philippines. Long days baking under the sun, oppressive heat blanketing his entire body, sweat pooling at the top of his lip. At least when he was in the Philippines, he wore shorts and a tank top to cool down. Currently, there are about three layers on his chest—undershirt, button-up, blazer—and the AC in this place wheezes and puffs out mildly cold air like an overweight asthmatic kid attempting to run a marathon. THE RAVEN CYCLE: Adam Parrish does not have many things. A bare IKEA mattress, various pieces of makeshift furniture made out of cardboard, and a three-dollar rug he found at a sale. It’s not much, but it’s his and he’s proud of it. Sometimes, though, pride doesn’t discount how hot Virginia summers are. His skin is sticky with it, the light cotton of his shirt clinging to him, restlessness twisting under his skin.

i tried to pick two snippets that are generally about the same thing (summer heat!). at least to Me, this seems different enough in tone, but you know. vibes!

17. WHAT ARE YOUR WRITING WEAKNESSES?

my inability to write long form is genuinely not only a weakness but so so so detrimental to me fr. every fic i have written can EASILY be at least 25k EACH. probably more (definitely more) because i write the moments in between or . . . [sigh] let me say this instead. with longfic, there's usually a moment or a scene that you want to get to, the whole fic is culminating to that scene so you write thousands upon thousands of words to get to where the that scene would make sense in context, yes? well. for Me . . . i just write The Scene™

18. THOUGHTS ON WRITING DIALOGUE IN ANOTHER LANGUAGE?

i'd fuck up google translate so fast (and have), so something like "they speak in spanish" or "'hi, how are you?' they ask in spanish" would be preferable to me.

19. FIRST FANDOM YOU WROTE FOR?

definitely pjo percabeth fic at the age of like . . . ten (10). i posted it on ffnet and have since scrubbed from the internet.

20. FAVOURITE FIC YOU'VE EVER WRITTEN?

funnily enough i created a series which is just fav fics that i've written which sounds so egotistical, but whatever. there are 13 works in there, i believe, and most of them are merlin lol. but in recent memory it has to be a tie between JUDAS KISS and THREAD OF GOLD (both arwen fic !!!) because i experimented with my writing sooooo much there, JUDAS KISS being first person and THREAD OF GOLD being second person. i typically write a close third person pov especially for fic. my prose is wired for that, but it was so fun to try to do that for first and second anddddd i got some banger lines out of it so a win's a win!

It wasn’t an ill-made prediction, Persephone was stood at the bottom of the steps glaring at the crowd with her hands on her hips. Nico winced in momentary sympathy for the rabble; he’d been on the end of her wrath before.

“Hm,” Hades hummed in agreement “Have you been watching the soul?”

Nico followed his father’s line of sight to where a half-transparent man in a long light brown trench coat sat on the floor, cross-legged, looking far too pleased with himself. He was turning his head back and forth between the two loudest arguers of the crowd, stifling laughter behind his fist.

Hey, for some reason Tumblr won't let me reply under the post, so I am sending an ask.

The story is called when violence causes silence and it's on ao3 under the name Cersei_Mikaelson.

It's Hera centric and focuses on her role as Goddess of Motherhood and Family, because I felt like a lot of people only focus on the marriage aspect. I also invented a new branch of magic she taps into as she tries to keep her children from harm with unforeseen consequences.

Hardcore mythology fans have told me the 'ancient greek religion and lore' tag is incorrect because the story is officially a PJO series retelling. Let me tell you it's practically a whole different series, because I wouldn't be writing a retelling if I were happy with the original series and especially Hera's portrayal in it.

It's basically Hera's redemption arc and explores her relationship with her children, Zeus, her siblings and the rest of the pantheon. There is also a companion piece out that delves deeper into her powers and the effect they have on the mythological world.

Boy, that turned out long. I truly hope you like it if you end up reading it, here is a sneak peak:

"Because even as the rest of her siblings went off in search for bigger and better and brighter things in their respective domains, Hera claimed home as hers, and chose to stand by that home long before Zeus even thought to make her his Queen."

Thanks, I'll give it a look! I don't usually read Percy Jackson fics because I'm really not a fan of Riordan's takes on the gods and on Greek mythology in general (those books have popularized so many misconceptions and as a hardcore mythology fan myself I find that severely frustrating), but a very different reimagining of the series does sound promising. Also I'd read literally anything Hera-centric.

Young Gods AU Pipabeth Fanfic Snippet

As the title says, this is a small part of my Pipabeth-centric fic inspired by velinxi's Young Gods/Hades PJO AU. The specific drawing that appears in this snippet is linked here (it’s the top one). More info is below the line if you’re interested, and I hope you enjoy!

All three heads jerked up to look at her. The small boy turned, and Annabeth caught sight of a jagged sword hanging from a chain at his hip: black as the depths of Tartarus and glowing an eerie purple. Just as the boy sucked the life from the grass where he stood, his blade sucked the light from the surrounding air. It was unlike any weapon Annabeth had seen before, and it did little to calm her nerves.

The boy tilted his head. "Percy?" he asked. "Who is that?"

A familiar laugh lilted through the courtyard before Perseus could answer, and Annabeth's heart fluttered at the sound. "Don't you know, little godling?"

Piper's heady rose perfume enveloped them both as she looped an arm around Annabeth's waist, drawing her closer until her back was pressed to Piper's front. "Her name is Annabeth!" Piper proclaimed. "Favored daughter of Athena! Warrior-architect of Olympus!" She jabbed a finger at the trio. "And she has never known defeat!"

Annabeth gripped the beak of her mask and tugged it lower on her face. "Gods damn it, Piper," she muttered through clenched teeth. Her cheeks burned—partially from the grandiose introduction, but mainly because Piper's hand on her thigh was dangerously close to ... well, all of Piper was dangerously close to her. It was best to leave it at that.

I posted it 😭 I couldn’t resist anymore. I’ve been working on this fic for a while, but it will probably be a while yet before I publish it because I am fighting this writing rut that I’ve been in. I’m aiming to finish it before I go back to school, so by the end of August. It doesn’t have a title yet (titles are notoriously difficult for me), and I’m also not sure how many chapters it will have. I’m guessing it will have between 3-5k words; I had planned for it to be one chapter but I might divide it up to make it easier for me to finish and start publishing it. It depends on where the natural breaks are. If this gets a decent amount of notes I’ll post updates about it and hopefully some more snippets, otherwise I’ll just make one post when it’s ready to go up. Shisui

We been knew. I don't really know how I found myself quietly determined to dominate his character tag but life works in mysterious ways. He was a possible love interest for my SIOC back in the day and then... We spiralled, massively. I liked his character so much that I turned to my Beta one day and said 'why isn't there a Shisui time travel fic, one thats simple but impactful?' and she shrugged and told me why I didn't try my hand at it myself, and that's how In The Eye of the Beholder started. The first of...many. I think we're at around 20 Shisui-centric fics posted? And endless ideas 🤡 The OG blorbo

Obi (Akagami no Shirayuki/AnS)

Oh my god Obi. You guys don't realise everything I have bottled up inside of me, but Obi gets me almost at the same level as Shisui, I just never posted much. The AnS fandom is smaller and idk in a weird way I'd feel more out of place there because, with Naruto fics, you're kinda sheltered by the crowd? We all deal with self consciousness, I guess. Obi unlocks something in me. Like with Shisui, I can ship him with almost anyone because I'm ace and romance is nice to read but not the end of the world, you know? It's always going to be a platonic relationship that rules my fics, I can't help it. But Obi? His love for Shirayuki just turns me into this puddle of emotionally complicated goo 😵

For Bnha....

You're not wrong that there's a reason that Tokoyami ended up as my first character-centric foray into this fandom, but it's not at all the same as the previous two. I have a lot of loves in BnHa. Ochako, Momo, Kirishima, Todoroki, Dabi, Hawks, Mirko, Best Jeanist, Ingenium (Tensei), and I have a protective streak a mile wide for Tamaki (I have a lot of thoughts, on...all of it tbh) but I'm very happy to rotate across basically the whole cast from BnHA because a good fic is a damn good fic! And the artists are also extremely talented~

Narutoverse

I want to swing by Narutoverse again, just to reiterate that I may be welded to Shisui but I do love a massive number of characters, mainly the idea/potential of them than canon reality (as in most cases, I'm not a "love letter to canon" author) but it's a love all the same. Tobirama, Gai, Lee, Tsunade, Kakashi (squad 2 tbh, i picked my favs for that group), and I've grown so much fonder of other characters that I never paid much mind to (mainly Uchiha or Akatsuki etc) as just a reader!

Other fandoms

I'm... I'm a binge reader without much in the way of pickiness for a lot of fandoms. Les Mis, MCU, HP, LotR/Hobbit (I'm not even loyal to Aragorn/Arwen, this is how flexible I am in the face of good fandom content).

I have a huge preference for BAMF Din, I had to stop watching season three of the mandalorian because it was frustrating me so much lol

My favorite PJO character by a long long shot is Percy

I get annoyed when I remember that they didn't make the RDJ Sherlock Holmes movies a polytriad

I'm Merlin trash in the year 2023

I'm too scared to start One Piece 🥴

If I had the time, memory space, and energy to swallow Star Wars lore, I would write a huge fic where Finn is the protagonist. No hate to any character but I want what I want

there’s this one i really like called after that feels very true to the series and the characters. it’s a post-tartarus/hoo fic and i enjoy it

The Sun And The Star. It's a Post-Trials of Apollo Nico di Angelo & Will Solace-centric companion novel and it is. very poorly written unfortunately :(

Plot bad. Every inconsistency imaginable. Characters out of character in every way fathomable. Incredibly difficult to make mistakes being made somehow. I'm very much struggling through trying to finish it currently, and half-liveblogging on my PJO sideblog about it (@aroaceleovaldez ) or ranting incoherently in my pjo discord about it. I'm planning on waiting a little bit after I finish it to start reblogging stuff discussing it on main.
