I just think this is the funnier chunk. #Lan Wangji absolutely is the kind of person who has a perfect internal alarm clock for when it is time to get up. #He already has a dedicated sleep schedule. He is accurate within 10 seconds of 5am every day. #I think the Jiang disciples are most likely used to waking up around 6:00-7:00am #But the allure of having a guaranteed time keeper getting you up in the morning is worth the earlier hour. #I imagine they started outside lwj's door and slowly moved closer as the weeks went on. #Now LWJ has to cope with being way too warm in the night from all the extra body heat. #LWJ is not a fan of this but they scamper off immediately after he wakes up and they at least show initiative to follow routine. #NHS joins in only because he is a chronically heavy sleeper and needs this level of intervention to get up early. #His boldness would be a death sentence in the cloud recesses but here? Whole new game. #Yungmeng Jiang isn't a lawless land. It's just a land with different laws. #And one of those laws is to forcefully domesticate the catboy coded Lan boy through any means necessary. #Completely different tangent: I drew the thumbnail for this before I did comic 134. I then realized they had the same visual gag. #So I had to space this one out so it didn't seem like I repeated the waking up joke. Imagine you're Ezra Bridger. You've been gone for a decade, and one of the first things that happens when you return to your own galaxy is the New Republic throws a Big Important Party in your honor. There's a lot of people you know, some people you don't recognize, some random guy carrying a random baby, some people you think you should recognize but don't, and some people you know you'll recognize once you start talking to them.

At your party, you run into that smuggler guy who double crossed you and your entire crew one time. "What's he doing here?" you ask. Turns out, he joined the Rebellion and later the New Republic, thanks to his old poker buddy, Han.

And then you meet a total stranger who's so force sensitive it's almost palpable. "What is he doing here?" you ask. Turns out, he's a hero of the Rebellion, has connections to at least five other people you know, and mentions his best friend, Han, who you've just gotta meet, he's such a cool guy.

And then you see this huge wookiee and you're like "What is he doing here?" and someone's like "oh, he met Ahsoka back in the Clone Wars, and he's an important Rebellion hero. And he's Han's co-pilot."

And so at this point, all you know is that some guy here named Han is the "coolest guy in the world" and was poker buddies with one of the sleaziest guys you've ever met and his co-pilot is a massive hulking BEAST.

And THEN you see the stubborn princess senator you met during the war! And you're like "What's she doing here?" and one of your friends is like "She's a senator in the New Republic and was a leader in the Rebellion, she's come to thank you for your sacrifice."

And then you start talking to the Princess she's like "oh have you met my husband, Han?" and you're thinking "oh shoot the legendary Han, the Han, the coolest guy in the world who hangs out with sleazebags and wookies is married to the princess????" And she's like, "Oh, there he is you have to meet my husband Han" and then you meet Han and he's.

He's the random guy who's been carrying a baby around for your entire party.

I think about Leo’s “I’m your least favorite” comment to Splinter in “Down with the Sickness” a lot. It’s likely just a throwaway comment, a way to get Splinter to leave him alone before Leo gets sick too, but I can’t help but wonder if Leo believes it on some level.

Obviously it’s not true, Splinter loves him as much as he loves the others, but…it wouldn’t be shocking if Leo believed otherwise. After all, just in “Many Unhappy Returns” alone, Splinter has, with no hesitation, said comments like “my other sons would have taken this seriously” and “I knew I should’ve brought purple”, said “no” to Leo’s “I love you”, and pretty blatantly didn’t extend any trust in Leo’s plan even after Leo was fairly effortlessly defeating their opponents.

It was only after, when they’d already won, that Splinter finally gives him a “it was all you my son!” And…that’s basically it. Raph is the one who announces his trust in Leo. Not their father, even though Splinter is the one to witness Leo lowering his walls for once (which Splinter doesn’t react well too, because Leo only lowers his walls in the most hectic of times, and because he lowers them only then, either no one is around or no one is in the right state of mind to respond properly, leading to Leo building his walls back up, and the cycle continues.)

Again, it’s not because Splinter doesn’t love Leo, but Leo…can’t be feeling too good about all that. The way he never reacted surprised about any of Splinter’s words too…

He may know that Splinter loves them all, as a group, but individually…I don’t think Leo believes he ranks all that high with that love. Gives another meaning to “I’m nothing without my brothers” huh?

(Of course, I’m willing to bet the invasion changed that understanding, but with that comes the potential misunderstanding that his father’s outright love is tied to Leo sacrificing himself.)
