Hey uh. Go read this NaruMitsu/WrightWorth fic. I'm in so deep and I need everyone to know about it.
The premise sounds really specific (Miles' color vision fades whenever he's especially stressed) but it only incidentally affects the overall plot. For the most part, it's actually just a slow, often very soft, exploration of the seven-year gap and how Miles, Phoenix, and Trucy figure out the future together along the way.
FEATURING:
everyone knowing Kristoph is shady from the very beginning, and thus plotting against him and roasting him behind his back to my utter delight
Miles very responsibly getting a therapist, and then proceeding to convince all his friends to do the same
slow build of Trucy's abandonment issues (and Phoenix's feelings of helplessness in the face of them (and Miles' gentle if awkward support for both of them as they work through it all))
Phoenix getting certified as a paralegal in the European courts to help Miles when he can, as they work toward the long-term plan of getting his proper badge back
Miles going to a Steel Samurai con..... multiple years in a row (one of my fav subplots of the fic, not even gonna lie)
Larry being a good babysitter and a great friend
Miles and Phoenix repeatedly ending up in jail for crimes they did not commit
frankly irresponsible amounts of Dadworth fluff (with Trucy and also with Sebastian)
and, of course, slow-burn NaruMitsu goodness... except it's almost not that slow-burn because Miles realizes what he's feeling pretty early on, except he's also a dork who decides not to act on it for years on end for Perfectly Logical Reasons and we're currently 160+ chapters in and they just recently got together officially and I'm!!, soft,,, my heart is so soft I love these fools so much
...and honestly this is one of those fics that's kind of got a little bit of everything. A helping of angst (particularly just after Phoenix's disbarment), tons of fluff of both the found family and romantic varieties, a few short arcs of casefic goodness, some goofy subplots and side characters, and--underneath it all--a feeling of cozy warmth because no matter what struggles they face, they're all going to end up getting the happy ending they deserve.

Have you ever played the AA: Investigations spin-offs? If so, did you like them? I know they're kind of rough around the edges, but AAI2 is definitely my second favorite game in the entire franchise, so I'm curious to hear your opinion.
yes, i've played them both! i think they're definitely REALLY solid overall and add a ton to the series. aai2 is absolutely a huge step up for the duology but i do think people are a little bit too hard on aai1. i feel it exists in the sort of same niche as dgs1 where it maybe needed and editing pass it didn't get but is redeemed by its sequel's ability to stick the landing.
my biggest problem with aai doesn't have anything to do with any of the rough pacing or any specific case, however. i just don't fully buy yamazaki's edgeworth. there's nothing i see as egregious enough that i just won't accept it like i do with phoenix's characterization in aa6, but i feel like there's a certain degree of flanderization that happened in to his character. i feel like he gets a little bit watered down in his behaviors and actions - particularly in aai1's flashback case, where i think he's acting entirely too reasonable and helpful compared to the kind of person we knew him to be in aa1. i also think overall his dialogue was made a bit too stuffy and formal, whereas in the trilogy a strong part of what appealed to him about me was that he seemed like he should be that kind of guy but was mostly just kind of a pompous jackass, and as soon as he got pissed off most of that refinement completely drops off
it's hard to say how much of the difference in edgeworth's characterization was motivated by writing him as the protagonist rather than the antagonist or deuteragonist, and how much was a difference in approach to localization, and how much was actually yamazki's Vision. but given the state of aa5 and 6 i'm not inclined to give the man much benefit of the doubt.
with that said, though, i do think what aai2 actually did with edgeworth's arc was fantastic. 'why would edgeworth keep being a prosecutor' is a question that deserved an answer and i really appreciate they took the time to give us that answer in a satisfying way. inherited turnabout might be the strongest middle case in the franchise. it is genuinely difficult for me to wrap my mind around how you go from making aai2 to making dual destinies.
but the single most important thing the aai games had to give us was this screenshot

Mediaposting 2024, #5: Dai Gyakuten Saiban 1/The Great Ace Attorney Adventures
Tumblr media
Completed: March 26th (main game) / March 27th (escapades/the bonus video content)
Time spent: 37 hours (main game) / 39 hours (including bonus content stuff)
Rating: 8/10 (but with caveats because of it being the first of a duology) thoughts under the cut because there are many and a lot of them are spoilery. but the tl;dr is that they were clearly still kind of finding their footing with this game but The Game Is Good. and the reasons i'm giving it an 8/10 are mostly because i need to see how dgs2 deals with some of the loose ends before i go higher
first, the positives (and I suppose the neutrals):
first of all, on the game design side of things, the music slaps. as usual for an AA game honestly but there does not seem to be a single miss in this soundtrack which is rare. can't wait to hear the inevitable remixes and reframing of themes in dgs2.
it took me way longer than i expected to warm up to the main cast, but once I really got into the meat of the game, i found that I do really like all of them (and I mean ALL of them, including the more minor characters. except mcgilded but fuck mcgilded). this kind of suprised me because I don't think i've come close to that in any AA game except maybe the first one and t&t. also maybe aai2 but that's pushing it. like this game reminded me why I like AA at all after the absolute slogs of 5 and 6. (and the absolute 'i remember fucking none of this' of apollo justice)
the character design of this game as a whole is INCREDIBLE. there is not a single character design that I don't like in some way. from the really good student uniform designs, to susato's kimono, to iris and sherlock's outfits.....and those are just the main ones. a lot of the witnesses and even some of the jury members are memorable just on character design alone. even the designs i think are kind of ugly (coughs. mcgilded) are clearly ugly by design and not by accident. it's a feat. hope that dgs2 keeps up the good work but based on the one (very big....oops) spoiler that i know, i'd be surprised if it didn't.
the parallel between ashley graydon and gina as kids raised in poverty in the last case. mwah. magnificent. chef's kiss. 10/10 no notes
dgs sherlock is such a good interpretation of the Man The Myth and the Legend
also i really adore ryuu as a protagonist. i can't quite put my finger on why, it might honestly just be because of how fucking distressed he is all the time LOL, but i like him in a way that feels a bit deeper to me than the way in which i like phoenix. he's clearly making the best of a bizarre situation and his Law Skills are more of a matter of natural talent rather than training
the ending is. man. it's good and a very good sequel hook but can you fucking IMAGINE if they had never gotten the money to make a sequel to this game. what a hell world that would be. imagine just dropping a major hint that three characters you already know of are involved in a huge fucking conspiracy and then never getting to explain why. vlr/ztd interface level catastrophe.
and then the few negatives i have which unfortunately drag this down a little bit for me, enough to the 8/10 level...primarily the first one:
this game has WHACK pacing. having essentially 3 separate tutorials is a wild game design choice to make. the pacing felt off to me to the extent that the end of case 4 felt like it was the middle of the game, and case 5 was almost half of my playtime at 16 hours out of 37 so i think it was close to LITERALLY being halfway through. i don't have a good idea on how to fix it, given that this game has to introduce both the new dance of deduction mechanic AND the weird jury summation examination mechanic, but....there should have been something. it really made it difficult for me to fully Care about the characters until i was into case 5. and I'm glad that case 5 was ultimately good enough to make me care about everyone (e.g. i didn't really care about gina in case 3 at all), but it's pretty rough. i genuinely don't know HOW you fix the pacing issue while also keeping the overall plot outline the same, though, especially because cases 2 and 3 are so crucial. the only thing i can really think of is introducing some of the background london information in case 4 instead of 5, but.......still. or making case 4 happen more than a single goddamn day after case 3. just something to make the pace not feel nearly as weird. sighs. idk. it needed substantial tweaking but I don't have a good idea on what tweaks needed to be made. i've heard dgs2 has much better pacing from someone whose opinions i trust on that kind of thing, so i really hope it pulls through there.
more minor critique: a lot of the cases, barring 5, are weirdly easy with very rare (and also weird) spotty difficulty spikes. of course it's always hard to strike the balance in an AA game, and i wasn't expecting the tutorial to be hard, but...case 4 just kind of dragged for me because of how long the trial goes on. 5 actually did have tricky moments for me thanks to eggman graydon wanting to hide the truth and the sheer amount of evidence, but yeah. still far more challenging than the dr games just giving you all of the facts at the very beginning of the trial, though...at least shu takumi knows how to write a mystery LMAO
asougi really needed a little more lead time before getting killed off, because i like him but, without the escapades, it's probably not as much as I think the game wants me to like him, and ryuu being his best friend is not super convincing to me even though he shows that a lot more in later cases. i'm not tooootally sure how i would have fixed that, maybe keeping him alive a bit in the first half of the 2nd case? doing some more slice of life stuff with him and ryuu? or making ryuu's reaction to his death a little bit more shocked? idk. i'm REALLY glad the escapades exist because they help a lot in fleshing him out, but i really think parts of them should have been in the game proper =========== all that said. if a game gets me to write this many fucking words about it..which took me a goddamn HOUR to write jesus christ i just checked my computer clock.... it's clearly doing SOMETHING right. honestly, if the pacing wasn't so bizarre, i'd probably bump it up a full point. i am absolutely playing the second game but im already worried its gonna hit full on zero escape and raging loop level catastrophe fixation (positive) once im done so…i'm honestly putting off starting dgs2 a little bit because i'm worried that it's gonna distract me to the point of my grades/job suffering a little LOL. i haven't had that happen in a while so, at least in that way....congrats dgs you won me over. i will never stop calling you dgs because thats how i was introduced to you 7 years ago as my best friend's first new-fixation when i first became friends with her. sorry it took so long for me to get around to you.

I feel that Sebastian Debeste wouldn’t be homophobic merely cause his dad never bothered to tell him what gay people are. And after AAI2 Edgeworth teaches him about it and either he becomes a giant ally or figures some things out about himself.
I haven't seen Sebastian yet so I can't say much about the validity of this. I'm in the middle of the first investigations game but put my playthrough on hold until my interview next week. This sounds accurate though based on what I've seen about him in passing

had a small random burst of aa inspiration and whipped up an excerpt of the untitled aai2 au. context: I didn’t want Kay Seb and Badd in the same place until Forgotten but couldn’t find any good reason for Badd not to be at the Zodiac Gallery. So I took Kay and Sebastian out of Inherited. Kay goes digging for info on what happened to Sebastian (or at least tries to). Except then she runs into him and they continue to butt heads. These bits are before and after that scene
.
To avoid Badd having any last-minute suspicions about her outing, Kay strategically waited in her room until after he left (accidentally slept in until her 10:00 alarm). She was still yawning as she made her way to the door to put on her shoes. When she picked up the second one, she noticed a piece of paper stuck in it.
Snacks in fridge.
Dropping the shoe, she ran over to check. Sure enough, on the middle shelf was a small lunchbox. Its contents: cheese sticks and pepperoni, apple slices in water with side compartments of peanut butter and cinnamon sugar, some homemade chocolate chip granola bars, and a little bag of pretzels.
She stared at it. Well, now she felt a little bad about lying. Not bad enough to change her mind. She needed to uncover the truth here, with or without his approval.
.
She made her way out of the Prosecutor’s Offices with a bit less caution than when she’d come in. (Almost no one who might even recognize her was left, anyway.) Jumping all the stairs from the outside doors to the sidewalk, she cut across the grass in the direction of the nearest bus stop.
Dropping her weight against the plastic back wall of the bus shelter, she huffed out a sigh. Well, that had been stupid. Not only had she gotten to do zero digging, but Sebastian had turned out to be just as insufferably...Like That...when he was alone as any other time. After that disaster, he’d lost all rights to her even dropping hints about who she was. (If she hadn’t seen him stumble over so many other seemingly obvious hints, she would’ve thought he had to be doing it on purpose.) Ugh. If she didn’t see him for another month, it would be too soon.
Someone had walked into the bus stop moments ago and she’d ignored them, busy glaring at a plastic bottle on the ground and bouncing on her feet as she ruminated. But then the hair on the back of her neck prickled too much to ignore the impulse to look.
It was Sebastian. Standing at the far diagonal of the shelter, staring, baton threatening to snap out of his grip. “What are you doing here?”
“What are you doing here?” she retorted. Based on everything else, she thought he would’ve gotten his own brand new car the moment he was old enough to drive.
His expression scrunched. “I asked you first!”
She put her hands on her hips. “I asked you second.”
For a moment, he continued to watch her with what was probably meant to be a glare but was actually a squint and a wobbly pout. Then, with a huff, he spun around to stomp off.
Right as it began to absolutely pour.
He shrieked and tripped over himself running backward into the shelter.
Kay sighed to herself. Pulling out her phone, she slid along the wall until she got to the point furthest from the bench. After a minute of Sebastian not moving she said, still not looking up, “You can sit. I don’t want to.”
It took another long moment, but finally he went and sat. Still not talking, which she was thankful for.
Opening her internet browser, she flicked through the hundred plus tabs she had open to locate that one article on knot tying she’d been meaning to read. Nah, not that one. Or that one. Ooh, a parkour technique video.
She’d just gotten through the initial explanation segment when she heard a low stomach growl. She looked down at her own with a frown before almost immediately remembering Sebastian. Hm. Well that was his problem. She started up the video again.
It happened again. Despite herself, she couldn’t help but be a little impressed. Getting through her earbuds and the incessant drum of rain.
(She did still have most of her snacks in her bag, her brain reminded her.)
Her finger hovered over the play button.
(...And Seb always really liked the granola bars every time she’d brought them to school.)
With a sigh, Kay yanked out the container in the same motion as she crossed the couple steps over to hold it out in offering.
He flinched once as she approached, and then a smaller one when she dropped it in his lap.
“You, uh, sounded hungry.” She rocked on her heels.
“Oh.” He lifted the lid cautiously. “Thanks?”
“Yeah sure,” she said quickly, scooting back to her corner. “Just give me the container back.”
She put her earbuds back in, but didn’t start the video up. Not yet. Out of the corner of her eye, she watched him pick one up. It was silly, to think that just tasting the snack would be enough to make him recognize her, after everything else. That was something out of a story.
...But it also wasn’t impossible.
If that was even what she wanted anymore, she thought again, stomach turning.
He paused, frowning slightly, after his first bite, but otherwise didn’t visibly react. (Also still not taking his gloves off, despite the fact that he was definitely gonna get chocolate on them. So he really did wear those all the time. Maybe it was a texture thing? He’d had a bunch of texture things in school.
So she went back to her video.
Nearly at the end, absorbed in calculating how long she might take to learn it (and how spectacularly she could injure herself if she messed up), Kay startled when he interjected, too loud, “Hey?”
From his expression as she turned, he hadn’t expected the volume either. “Um, what time is it?”
“2:13.”
He nodded, biting his lip. Hands gripping the bench, he rocked slightly, now staring out into the rain.
“...Is your bus late?”
He tensed, and then tears started to collect at the corners of his eyes. “Yeah,” he squeaked.
With an internal sigh, she began pulling up the bus system tracker. “What number is it?”
“Thirty-four.”
Kay froze. That’s my route. Not the one she was currently waiting for: the one that went right by her childhood home. It was the kind of thing she would have laughed and commented about, if she was talking to a friend. Or a friendly acquaintance. Or a stranger. “Yeah, it says that one showed up like, super early. And the next one’s at 2:40.”
He nodded, still in the same pose.
When he didn’t give any other response, she rolled her eyes and looked back at her phone. She swapped over to one of her game apps, but just as it loaded she realized. Of course that was Sebastian's bus route; she could have guessed before she even asked him. He was probably still living in the same house, the one he'd grown up in – safe, familiar, with his parents the whole time-
Her throat burned like acid. She had so much energy: to scream, to stomp, to run out into the rain all the way back to the apartment. Instead, she threw herself to the ground, wrapping her arms around her knees. Sebastian moved out of the corner of her eye, but she ignored him. He didn't say or do anything else. Good. If she had to talk with him right now she'd explode.
She stayed like that until her bus came, then ran for the door. Sebastian yelled something after her, but she ignored him, sitting on the far side of the aisle and refusing to think about any of the day all the way back home.

Hi! I just found your blog and your TGAAC liveblog, and I'm reading through it right now! GAA2 is tied for my favorite Ace Attorney game with AA6 and AAI2, and I'm really happy to see more people enjoying it!
Do you have a favorite part so far?
Howdy! I am definitely absolutely loving this game(s)! To the point that... it's very tough to choose a favorite part. I guess if I narrow it down to the second game, then that helps a little bit. But it's still really tough... Susato as Ryutaro is absolutely incredible, and her return has already been amazing. I also have gleaned from some tags on my posts that apparently there's a chunk of people who don't like 2-2 much, but I really enjoyed it. Admittedly the timeline jump back to the middle of the previous game caught me off guard but I had a lot of fun with the characters, and there's actually one line of Shamspeare's that I've been saving because I have a feeling it'll be kind of key to my overall impression of the whole game, so it definitely ties in with the themes. So far, 2-3 has been lots of fun as well, and I am having INTENSE SUSPICIONS and am poised to freak out about a couple of things coming up...
Okay, I said just the second game would be easiest and then got excited about all three cases so far... and am fighting back the urge to gush about all sorts of various characters. I think perhaps one of my favorite scenes in game 2 is tied between Ryutaro's excellent takedown of Menimemo's hypocrisy (I also love the way it ties in to the overall themes)... and the bits I've most recently played where she and Ryunosuke are reunited. Their friendship is so so so lovely. .....Also the scene where Olive admits to what she's done. It was super badass and sad. ...Also also Herlock being stupid. I have a special place in my heart for all of his antics.

20 Questions for Fic Writers
I saw this going around a little while ago and wanted to do it myself mostly because it doesn't involve me having to answer about anything I did this year.
1. How many works do you have on A03?
20
2. What's your total A03 word count?
262,994, apparently
3. What fandoms do you write for?
Ace Attorney! I have to admit I've been writing persona 5 fanfic for most of this year but am still undecided on if I actually want to publish that. if I ever finish it.
4. What are your top five fics by kudos?
A Rose By Any Name (by a margin of like 1000 kudos), Deep Dark Secrets, Childswap, The Catch-Up Game, Love Languages.
I am eternally going to feel a bit bitter that the first one is that high.
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
I used to respond to them all the time because I love the interactions, but then I started getting burnt out by school and now have such a massive backlog..... so I pretty much never do these days. I'm very sorry and I still read and really appreciate all the comments I get!
6. What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
I don't write a lot of angst... and I definitely don't have a tendency to leave things on an angsty note. Maybe Need Not to Need which was in early disbarment era, or Left Behind, Looking Ahead because it's a missing scene in the middle of aai2, and Franziska ends it on the conclusion that she should prepare to not have Edgeworth in her life anymore.
7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Since I don't write a lot of angsty endings most of them are happy lol. Maybe The Opposing Council's Proposal because it ends on a proposal, which is a pretty happy event.
8. Do you get hate on fics?
Nope! Everyone's been really nice.
9. Do you write smut?
Definitely not. It takes me like five minutes to work myself up to writing a kiss. I'm too squeamish about that kind of thing.
10. Do you write crossovers?
No, and I feel like that's not something I'd be very good at doing. There's so much work involved and I haven't had any situations where I feel like characters from different franchises have to meet in order to express some aspect of characterization that they couldn't do otherwise, which would be my main motivation for writing one.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not as far as I'm aware.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Yes!! Plenty of my fics have been translated into Chinese. I had one person write an entire rec list for my works in Chinese before and was so happy about it.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Nope, I feel like I wouldn't be good at this either, I've always been the kind of person who isn't good at playing with others and would want to take control of the whole thing lol.
14. What's your all-time favourite ship?
Narumitsu without question. It takes a lot to get me to actively care about romance, much less write it.
15. What's the WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
I have a PLvsAA canon divergence fic where everyone stays brainwashed for a much longer time (and Edgeworth also gets brainwashed) that I wish I could finish, but I feel like it's a lost cause at this point. I have an earlier version of that fic which went in a completely different direction and is less than one chapter away from being complete. There's also One Good Narumitsu Story left in me that I've had in my head since 2018, never been able to bring myself to write it, and am not sure if I ever will. I hope I do someday, though.
16. What are your writing strengths?
I think one of my favorite comments I've ever gotten talked about putting effort into developing relationships and characters outside of the main focuses of the fic - Catch-Up Game being an example, even though narumitsu is the focus, I spent some time paying attention to Phoenix's relationships with Trucy, Maya, Iris, and generally tried to make it seem like the characters had their own lives outside of what Phoenix and Edgeworth had going on. That's something I still feel pretty proud of and try to keep up when I can.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
DESCRIPTIONS. I can't describe people very well at all, probably at least partially because my facial recognition skills are atrocious. I can't describe locations or settings, either. I sometimes feel like it becomes far too obvious that I rarely leave the house.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
I think it's fine on a one-off but not extensively. Like with Klavier as an example, the occasional Achtung or pet name or whatever is fine, but when it starts to be longer sentences or full conversations I draw the line.
Overall I think the best way to handle it (in a hypothetical conversation between Franziska and Edgeworth, depending on if the POV character is Edgeworth or Phoenix):
a) If the POV character speaks the language (like Edgeworth), doing something like "Franziska switched to German, so Phoenix couldn't overhear. "I am speaking in German, but you are reading it in English.""
b) If the POV character does not speak the language (like Phoenix), saying "Franziska switched to German and started yelling at Edgeworth" makes more sense - when I hear a foreign language, at least, I wouldn't be able to repeat it afterwards, because my brain does not process the words like it would English words, so I don't think it should stay in writing either.
There are practical purposes too: I wouldn't trust google translate to capture any nuance, and don't speak any other languages, so I'd want to find someone who knows the language to translate for me, which can be annoying and inconvenient for them. Also, readability. I don't think a reader should have to open up a new tab to understand your fic, is the point.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
Warrior cats!! Way back in 2012 or so.
20. Favourite fic you've ever written?
The Catch-Up Game is still my favorite, at least partially because I got so much engagement while posting it that it was a lot of fun to go through comments on it. The narumitsu server talked about it a lot, and I'll forever be bitter that a rogue mod wiped those channels, because it's a really good feeling when something you write can inspire discussion like that. Also, I'm still satisfied with most aspects of that fic on its own - I reread a couple of chapters just the other day and was enjoying myself, which is always a win.

uh oh lang on the brain again
he’s the the youngest sibling, the baby of a HUGE family. i’m talking like. 11 siblings. he has a good relationship with most of them, but he feels like he has a lot to prove. that’s why his job (particularly in aai2) is so important to him
i think he’s a vegetarian just bc it’d be like. really funny. people hear all of his wolf metaphors and go to dinner with him expecting him to order an extra rare steak and he’s just like “uh yeah what’re your meatless options” and they get whiplash from it
he and franziska are drinking buddies. whenever they investigate together they end the night at some hole in the wall bar gossiping about their siblings and anything else that comes to mind. franziska has a higher tolerance than him (again because its funny) so she has to make sure they get back to their hotel. lang definitely isn’t a lightweight, but trying to keep up with franziska really does him in
he’s commissioned phoenix for art of his fursona. not even in the funny way where he commissions him online and doesn’t realize he knows him in real life. he asks to commission him in the middle of like starbucks or something. he very loudly goes into intricate detail about what his fursona looks like and phoenix is like ‘uh ok buddy can you PLEASE just like email me we are getting so many weird looks.’

AND ANOTHER THING. i was on twitter and was happy to see someone drew phoenix punching miles for faking his death i was like wow the composition the coloring hte angle and the subject matter is fucking amazing. the tenseness of emotions and the explosion of an action he'd regret in the future maybe. but then i go into the replies and op was like "they kiss right after" and i was like can you kill yourself. oh my god narumitsu shippers poison any sense of bitterness these two characters can have towards eachother. they are grown men they are GROWN MEN THEY CAN BE ANGRY AND BITTER. AND ANOTHER THANG! why the fuck cant no one make phoenix be pissed off. he is not a dog. he is not a ball of sunshine. its better if you dont make him brooding and angsting bc then that's just edge for the sake of edge but for fucks sake why cant he be angry for the sake of fucking being angry at someone. why cant he be angry at edgeworth without ppl backtracking ands aying they get married. sure whatever they get married congrats NEITHER OF THEM HAVE COMMUNICATION SKILLS IN YOUR FLUFF AU!!!!!! AND CANT UNPACK THEIR ISSUES THAT WOULD MAKE NON-FANFIC GAY MEN MAD WITH EACHOTHER!!!! fuck this stupid. AND ANOTHER THANG. sometimes the comics ppl make for them are funny but it's like oh my god how is this a shipping comic and if yall believe wright is so stupid to make jokes at edgeworth's expense abt his trauma then turn around and say aww how cute wright is being silly edgeworth will not be bitter abt this nope nope nuh uh then oh my lord GOOD LORD GOLLY GRACIOUS OOOOOOOOOHHHH I HATE ACE ATTORNEY HOW I HATE IT!!!!!
I SAW THAT I FUCKING SAW THAT HELP MEEEEEE!!!! phoenix and edgeworth have such a complex relationship unlike anything i've ever seen in a fictional medium like they're estranged childhood friends who tink they owe each other a lot yet know next to nothing about each other. this isn't some "let men be friends" bullshit i promise miles edgeworth fucked shi-long lang and dick gumshoe and will powers and whoever else but literally edgeworth and phoenix NEVER open up to each other for real. the amount of times gumshoe and maya got pissed at phoenix in turnabout goodbyes because he was treating edgeworth like shit but edgeworth was also being a little pisslord himself so it's whatever.
i do think shipping brainrot is real and if i can replay turnabout reminiscence on the regular without being an absolute freak and recognise the powerful themes and motifs in aai2 surrounding family, legacy, bonds, and truth without making it about edgeworth making out with lang and gumshoe and will powers, i THINK u losers can all manage to get through the pwaa school trial flashback scene without your sole takeaway being that those middle schoolers are going to kiss.
also idk if it's just me being gay and being around my gay dad my whole life and working in a gay town but literally no gay men that aren't years divorced act like that. i thinkt hem being divorced is really funny though same with phoenix and kristoph mister wright is a chad single dad who's keeping his really cool weirdo daughter away from all the really uncool weirdos out there.

I actually only recently played AAI2 at the beginning of the year and I gotta say I LOVE this little dude. It took me a while admittedly, as at first I thought he was purely there to be an annoying roadblock for the game but.. I came around and think I would now fight tooth and nail for him. If I recall, it was one of those instances where I was slowly enjoying them more without realising and then the emotions just.. hit me.

(Here's a screenshot of me vague-blogging the instant it happened hahah.)
He's a good kid just trying to do his best and make those around him proud. It seems like he's dealt with a lot of tough shit, potentially even a lot of loss, without ever really being able to process it correctly. I think he's scared of losing more people he holds dear and merely played up a lot of his independence and haughtiness as a form of armor. I'm again not super familiar with him enough to comfortably deep dive anywhere, but by the end of AAI2 I felt a real connection to this kid. Whether that stems from the family issues or our shared inability to remember the correct word we're looking to use (Side Note: the first time I accidently used an approximate word again irl, while in the middle of playing AAI2, I paused and had this existential crisis of just "Oh no.. I'M the idiot. In real life. I AM that which I've been hating on in a video game. OH NO." So that was "fun" and eye opening haha.) or something else entirely, I'm not completely sure. I certainly don't feel like he's as dumb as the game initially led me to believe and is more misguided than anything. He's a loveable, emotional, baby boy who deserves the world and not the hell that was forced on him.
I personally think Sebastian has a lot to work through and plenty of time to grow into a person all of his own. I hope we get to see more of him in the future. Would love to see how he picks himself up and fully separates himself from his father's shadow in a future game. He truly does deserves nothing but Debeste.
