huh. well. i didnt want to keep my hopes up to high for the yyh live action, and thankfully so bc then it ended up being better than i was expecting! itll never be able to live up to the anime, but it was enjoyable enough at least.

unfortunately it was. extremely fast paced. they condensed so much into so little time, giving the characters very little room to banter with each other and show their, yunno. character. at least for kurama and hiei, which are my favorite characters of ever (tied with my two faves from sth). kurama never even got to show any of his dorkiness or love for messing with others, especially hiei! their interactions were so limited... it makes me so sad :( also the fact that kuwabara made a jab at hieis height even though hiei is now only a few inches shorter than him ..........

while the humor was rather limited, im glad that it was there at all (bc i worried it was only going to be super serious), and there were def some moments that really made me laugh! n i liked that hiei was still a little shit to kuwabara lol. and also that keiko got to have some badassery :) the action scenes were all pretty cool too, and i do think it was cool how they made some stuff a lot creepier (like those demon bugs possessing people and like, elder toguro in general lol)

ill also say, while as weird as it was to have so much of the story condensed and altered, it was also kind of interesting how they were able to tie in everything into a more streamlined story. while i way prefer the pace and storyline of the original, it was neat how they made each major plotpoint slide into the next like they did.

Coming off Tim's Sixteenth birthday arc is so funny to me like- Robin 120: Batman is a terrible, abusive person and the only reason Tim doesn't cut him off right now is because he knows he'd loose all of the friends and family he'd made as robin in the process. Robin 121: And then he makes him go to bed on time- and then the next day he has him do his homework- and the worst thing Tim can imagine from him is his disappointed dad face <3 Like yea I do heavily prefer the latter and will accept the jarring as hell transition if it gets me out of the former faster but gosh golly is that some narrative whiplash

#tbh overall i far prefer the lewis run to the willingham run BUT the last arc is definitely the low point of it #because the. i guess the complicated problem for me is that i think at core Bruce should not be portrayed as a bad person like that #HOWEVER. it's not like that story was the first time. and if it had had a different ending where it became a more... teachable moment #for Bruce about how he can't prioritize the mission and training above like These Individuals Who Are His Family #then it would have been sooo much better. but considering everything was a) gearing up for War Games where Bruce was going to #continue to do assholish things and b) it was the end of a run so the arc needed to be tied up quickly #it just wasn't in the cards. #but the earlier arcs of lewis' run i just. so near and dear to me. just like a lot of Fun and some utterly heartbreaking steph stuff #that is like getting punched in the face (positive) for me personally. so im willing to forgive the birthday mess #vs willingham's run overall is just a far less enjoyable read to me outside of like the batgirl crossover/the early blüd days

honestly still the biggest personal tragedy of session 5 is that when grian joined gem in the tower building. in gems episode, there were almost a solid 10 minutes of just that. them hanging out, calm, peaceful, no danger, away from people that could hurt them . and guess what ? grian left LESS THAN 3 MINUTES OF THAT IN HIS EPISODE dbjksffejw

not only do i think everyone should have at least one (1) creative hobby of some sort but I also think everyone should have at least one hobby that it's fun to be bad at. yeah yeah being bad at something is the first step towards being good at something and all that but i think there should also be a place for things that you are unabashedly bad at without an end goal of being good at it. rather the end goal should just be having the time of your life doing something with no skill and lots of gusto

#my back hurts pretty bad. i can tune it out a little but not ignore it. i think this is making the rest of my spine really tense? and #shoulders too? and i’ve also been getting headaches almost every day #im still a little sick but it’s probably just gonna linger until i can rest which can’t happen for a few more days (i say this like #every week though no?) #hands and wrists are like. bad worse than usual #like both numb and painful and it’s taking a lot more focus to do things nimbly or not stop stuff #*drop stuff #ankles have kinda been sore i think just from walking so much which is manageable #but it’s hard with everything else rn. also i think i kinda pulled something yesterday because i almost hit it onto the concrete while #almost BIT IT not hit #walking at night #felt like a pull? but it was painless but then i ran across the street and a numbness shot up my leg #and it’s a little tingly today #i think i need to build some more core strength honestly #and get enough sleep more than one night per week #also probably more stretches for hands and wrists #ideally i’d also love to not be enormously stressed but i do not see this happening! #im actually less stressed this week but i think the months and months if not years have done their damage #also getting beat up for fun. which i think is objectively funny to layer over all this but yknow. i think that detracts from my overall #stress & doesn’t contribute to bad exhausting pain #(-:<

To be entirely honest I have no idea.

It’s not abandoned, to be clear, and it’s going to be finished. I just haven’t cared all that much about marvel in a hot minute, and writings like pulling fingernails when I’m not interested in the material. I’ve also noticed that it tends to make for some of my more poorly written chapters.

That being said, hyperfixation happens on the turn of a dime for me. It could be a week; it could be a month. I don’t really know. It will come though! I really love kintsugi and have no intentions of abandoning it.

#I do have to reread it before I update too #i change my style based on who’s narrating and that’s one of the reasons why updates fall off when I lose interest #it’s hard to maintain the characters inner voice #overall fanfiction is my ‘fun’ writing where I let myself cut corners and experiment so I am just very unserious about it overall #for my original works I make myself stick to projects a bit more and build writing stamina but im kinda here for a good time #I have decided to make myself finish up more works before I succumb to any new ones tho #tho those are probably gonna be toy rosaries and pez dispenser debris #that’s not to say that kintsugi or nhthcth will be neglected they’re just so much longer than the other two #my nhthcth are very long suffering they know that I will disappear into anime bog and return six months later with like seven updates #and there’s no in between #I am how I am
