There is something about having the power to make someone feel okay, and someone having the power to make you feel okay.

Cupping someone’s face and kissing their forehead and watching the tension in them dissipate and the simple relief of being touched, and held, and cared for.

Crawling into someone’s arms and just feeling yourself melt. A caress of your face so tender it’s as if it smoothed all the sharp and painful feelings in you.

I’ve had someone drive across town to me at one in the morning just to sit with me while I cried.

And even though it was a night that I felt horrible, the memory of it is kept in the same place as my happy memories, because I remember feeling so warm, and so taken care of, it was like the rest could just melt away after that.

I’ve tended to someone while they were bedridden, cheered them up when they felt so shitty physically, spent every day with them, cooked all their meals, all so that they would be okay, and feel okay, and I would do it a hundred times over.

otp: probably Yennskier (this was hard as I have been exposed to so many good pairings). I just really like how the show and fandom has done this relationship and the power dynamic goes both ways depending on their needs. They just work so well together and it make me so happy.

favorite canon pairing: Phillipa and Djikstra. The way they scheme and work together -- it reminds me a tad of the villains in Rocky and Bullwinkle . Best of friends (with the occasional kinky stuff). [I was really tempted to put Phillipa and Her Redanian Assasin lady, but they got so little time on screen.]

worst pairing ever: Ugh -- is there really a bad pairing? I don't think so. Maybe Yennefer and Eyck? They were funny and I appreciated them, but he was such a tool.

guilty pleasure pairing: Oh I really like Triss and Yennefer because there is a tension there, but also caring.

pairing you want to see more of: Angouleme with anyone. She was my favorite! (Secretly more Codhringer's cat too). I should really read more fic because there is probably plenty I am missing. (shit -- Ciri/Fake Ciri just because of what I read recently still being stuck in my head).

pairing that everyone likes but you are lol no: Do people ship Vilgefortz and Tissaia? I am not judging, but not for me (I'd read it and be open to convincing but at the moment not for me). I am a slow reader and take in mostly recommendations and reblogs.

favorite non-romantic pairing: Rience and Codhringer's cat. There is something there and it is perfect. (On a more serious note probably Assire var Anahid and Merlin -- she definitely love's her cat but I needed to put this somewhere).

Excoriation tw, ocd tw, dermatillomania tw, depression tw

I’ve been pretty kind to myself about my excoriation/dermatillomania. It’s not like I want to be doing it, I’m in consultation with my therapist, psychiatrist and my general practitioner about it, I’ve been taking cbt classes for it, bought fidget toys to distract myself with, and am taking a couple different medications to help manage my feelings that lead to it…

But the nurses’s distress at seeing the extent of it broke my heart. I know it’s bad. No, it’s not bug bites. No it’s not allergies. No, it’s not a virus or a drug reaction. It’s clear to see my self-inflicted wounds are only in places I can easily reach. But I do know how extensive it is.

I’ve just been trying to keep myself alive the last few years. I’m doing much better than I used to, but I know without a doubt that my route to healing is longer and more complex than I would have hoped.

I think I buried my shame, and now it’s time to address it.

I know it sounds like an annoying cliche but unless you're being cruel or hurtful there is really no need to be normal about things.
