hi! i love fftsr and i really enjoy the dynamics between everyone and their personas so i wanted to ask how you decided to characterise the personas/their dynamics and if you had envisioned how the other thieves interact with their personas as well?

(uhhh I didn't think this would happen with this question but SPOILERS FOR UP TO CHAPTER 46 OF FFTSR)
To be honest, the ony dynamic that I put a real degree of thought into is the Akechi & Robin & Loki dynamic- I wanted neither persona to be entirely good or rational, or one side representative of 'being evil' or whatever. Akechi's problem, is that his thoughts, feelings, and ideas so often contradict eachother, and he is entirely unable to reconcile that. So even when Robin and Loki do agree, Akechi is more likely to ignore them than take thier advice.
Of course, just because I didn't put too much thought into it doesn't mean I'm pulling all the other dynamics out of my ass lmao:
Sumire takes second place for "Persona who talks the most"- Ella, for the most part, is a supportive force that also isn't afraid to call Sumire on her bullshit. Whether or not Sumi listens is another matter entirely. This sort of stems from how Sumire's third awakening is her final resolve to stand on her own, to reject Maruki's reality despite all it could give her, to be unapolagetically Sumire for the rest of her life- So her persona is a force to remind her of that vow, when she starts slipping into her anxieties and her tendency for avoidance.
Haru doesn't get a lot of POV scenes, but her awakening was very fun for me to write. Since I've taken Haru in a direction that is distinctly angry, I wanted Milady's words to reflect that anger at her circumstances, and the need to break from it.
Ren doesn't chat with Arsene often enough for me to remember much of what he says HAHA- he doesn't have the same influence on Ren's character the same way that Akechi and Sumire's persona's do. When he does talk, however, it's usually to quip or be a smartass- a trait which I've quietly yoinked from how people tend to characterise Arsene/Shadow Ren- as, simply, the essence of Joker.
And, now that Ren has also resolved the whole Crow situation, his dynamic with Metatron is pretty much that Metatron is a forceful reminder of the kind of thinking that got Ren to make poor descisions in the first place. Metatron often speaks up any time that Ren tries to justify taking Maruki's deal, spoken with all the snark and fury of the real Akechi.
Most of the PT haven't had POV scenes, but Futaba and Makoto certainly have!
For Futaba, any time Necronomicon speaks up is usually when Futaba is trying to avoid something. Stemming from her awakening, Futaba's vow to never allow lies to decieve her again is reflected in her persona, and especially when she tries to decieve herself.
For Makoto- I actually can't remember if Johanna has spoken in a previous chapter, or if she's going to speak in an upcoming one, but Johanna's shtick also stems from Makoto's awakening. Makoto's vow was to not be trampled by authority, to ensure that she can be herself even in a society that aims to push her in a box. Johanna will speak up if Makoto is becoming complacent, if she tries to take the easy way out.
Uhh that's pretty much it! For the other PT's personas, I would similarly draw from their awakenings to decide what I would want them to say. For the most part, though, everyone's personas start getting chatty when their wielders aren't being true to themselves.
FUCK I FORGOt about Maruki. HAHA I wrote Azathoth as being a cryptic peice of shit, mostly. That kind of 'cult leader talk' is the kind of shit he pulls in canon, and I saw no reason to change that.
Shadow Maruki, on the other hand, is a more true reflection of the man himself- an echo of who he was in the original timeline. Shadows and personas are two sides of the same coin, but how they present themselves does vary. They're archetypes, rather than a 1:1 of their wielder's personality.

I notice a lot of radfems claiming that trans community is a cult now that I'm in gender critical spaces and I guess I can see why because they silence dissenting opinions and keep engaging in their homophobia, ignorance of sex based oppressions, supporting problematic people and etc. When I was in the trans community, they say that radfems are a cult. I don't know why that is though. Do you know why they say that radfems are a cult? I just think radfems don't want trans people to promote misogyny, homophobia and whatever bigotries they keep spouting
I've seen that once or twice when I was in trans spaces too. It doesn't make sense to me either, but I can't say I'm surprised since every single other thing they believe about radical feminism is also laughably inaccurate.
Looking at these images, and going through each point in context of radical feminism vs transactivism, there's a lot that's interesting. Where we encourage critical thinking, doubt, questioning, and dissent, TRAs actively discourage and punish it. They no longer even tolerate trans people who disagree on very minor matters - I remember when it was generally agreed upon in trans spaces that dysphoria was a defining aspect of being trans & everyone made fun of "tumblr genders." Now, the "truscum," "transmed," and old-school transsexual types are also called transphobic bigots and told they aren't welcome.
We have no involvement or desire to interfere in other radfems' family or personal lives; transactivism often encourages people to cut off family members for minor infractions like questioning anything about the person's transition or identity, not adjusting quickly enough to new pronouns/name, and the like. TRAs have often claimed parents who do any of those things are transphobic and abusive. TRA culture also frequently encourages trans people to socially engage primarily with other trans people (but only the ones who share their views!), date other trans people, live with like 7 other trans roommates, etc. Most trans people I knew who subscribed to the full gender ideology package rented a place with 2 or 3 other genderist roommates. They also discourage relationships of any kind, including friendship, with anyone who doesn't fully share the genderist perspective.
TRAs certainly view "any outside criticism as proof of persecution." I don't know any radfems who have an issue with criticism of radical feminism (that isn't straight up misogyny ofc). "Outsiders who question the group are hostile enemies or inherently evil" is transactivism to a fucking T. Radfems don't claim anyone is inherently evil, and idk any radfem who thinks that outsiders who question or disagree with radical feminism are hostile enemies. I doubt many even feel that way about TRAs; we just don't tolerate misogyny. I don't think they're inherently evil or anything lmao.
"The leader's transgressions are explained away or ignored." In many of these quotes, if you swap "the leader" for "trans women" or male nonbinaries, you'll notice it's pretty dead on. Eli Erlick for example, or Sophie Labelle, and so many more. They will defend a serial rapist transwoman over a gender critical MTF transsexual any day, and that's pretty culty behavior to me - not to mention it proves that this isn't about literally being trans, but about the ideology. Though they will usually take a trans woman's side in any situation, if the trans woman does not subscribe to gender ideology, they'll demonize and attack instead. In rad spaces on the other hand, I see women consistently held accountable when they do something wrong, and if it's a serious moral transgression, they'll be kicked out of the space no matter how popular or influential they were.
"Unquestioning commitment" to the ideology and "practices are the binding truth and law" (insert binding joke here). Extreme "polarized us vs them mentality" and "black-and-white views and right-or-wrong thinking with no gray areas." All of this is accurate of transactivism. I have not experienced or witnessed this type of thinking in rad spaces.
"Leaders use deception both to the public and to its own members." I mean the entire ideology is based on deception and denial of reality. Flaunting that you've had sex with someone without disclosing that you're trans (aka deception) is fairly common in some of the more extreme genderist spaces as well. I'm not sure how this could possibly apply to radical feminism. We are generally pretty committed to accuracy and reality, and deception is not in line with those values at all.
"Members are discouraged from getting information from non-group sources." This one actually lowkey gave me chills bc it's really true. We all know they don't understand what radfems actually believe, they have block lists and block radfems/gender critical people on sight, even in the absence of any negative interaction. A whole lot, if not most, of the statistics and data they like to cite are from their own organizations, or even from information someone spread on social media years and years ago and everyone just doesn't question its authenticity or origins. "Non-group sources are held to be liars with sinister motives." That's practically word for word how they react to statistics, info, etc., from non-trans organizations. And gender critical people certainly know how often they call us liars and insist we want trans people dead. These especially don't apply to radical feminism. We encourage engaging with all kinds of people and content, and we don't rely on or use data/information from other radfems or radfem organizations much at all.
Now, regarding the point about special vocabulary/shorthand/buzzwords. Both TRAs and radfems use such things. However, radfems do not use them to "substitute for rational analysis." But a mantra like TWAW is exactly that. Even "TERF" and "transphobic" are thrown around extremely quickly and easily, in situations where they often don't really apply, and the intention underlying that is putting an end to any doubt/questioning going on, shutting it down by claiming bigotry.
Using "shame, guilt, and/or fear to influence and control members" absolutely doesn't happen in radfem spaces. Not that I've ever seen or heard about. It was definitely something I experienced a lot of in trans spaces, though.
I don't have the energy to do any more of these breakdowns of the points, sorry. But you get the idea. Additionally, TRAs tend to make it their entire identity and lifestyle. It's all-consuming. Not to mention there's no such thing as wrongthink in radical feminism like there is with genderism. I don't constantly monitor and police my own thoughts and feelings for "problematic" ones like I did when I was involved in all that gender stuff. Plus, they actively seek to recruit people, especially young, mentally ill, traumatized, and/or otherwise vulnerable people. Radical feminism doesn't really recruit at all; women and girls tend to find it themselves most times.

POV: Volo character analysis but you’re only 6 hours into PLA
making good progress in pokemon legends!!! just defeated kleavor (what the HELL is kleavor btw, i’ve never seen that thing before in my life) and i’m having SO much more fun with it than before! rly glad about that cuz it was just sitting & collecting metaphorical dust lmao. i still have my qualms, but i definitely see the appeal now!
i’d like to talk a little about Volo. well, as much as i can from my current point in the game.
full disclaimer, i haven’t even gotten close to beating PLA and i won’t for probably another 40 hours, but i do know what ultimately happens with Volo. my thoughts here could honestly be totally incomprehensible or may change as i continue playing. but i just think he’s neat :)
so i don’t think Volo is like…... evil? don’t get me wrong, he absolutely fucked up and there are no excuses for what he does. but i see a lot of people in the fandom make him out to be this irredeemable horrible awful murderous twisted cycle path and i just. don’t agree with that.
i think people prioritize vilifying him solely to further angst with a certain pair of twins rather than focusing on the nuance that’s embedded into his character. i don’t want to skrunkli-fy him either, but i think it’s important to recognize that he’s kinda just Some Guy. he’s not a cult-leader, he’s not a mob boss, he doesn’t have people who follow or look up to him much (as far as i know); he’s just some dude who works in retail, and he has realistic, human flaws that result in self-destructive behavior that ultimately harms everyone around him. he strikes me as someone with a boatload of (likely religious) trauma and a desperate, insatiable desire to comprehend some kind of higher being. i hope to expand on this particular train of thought later
this brings me to one of my favorite narratives in pokemon. he has Three!!! pokemon that evolve through high friendship. compared to ghetsis, with a hydreigon that was forced to evolve before level 64, holds a life orb, and absolutely obliterates with frustration with the highest amount of damage possible—it absolutely hates ghetsis. but togekiss, lucario, and roserade can only be obtained when they adore their trainers, this cannot be forced.
and, interestingly, this is lucario’s pokedex entry in shield
Volo also has a genuine interest in archeology and history and he wants to share it with people! this guy can infodump like a champ, i really respect that !
so my opinion can certainly change, but these are a few reasons why i don’t think he’s irredeemable. i don’t like how complex characters are always reduced to all or nothing values in fandom spaces. there’s so much more to these characters than 100% evil or 100% good.
this is not helped by the fact that PLA just. doesn’t seem finished? which is completely understandable considering the amount of crunch these artists and writers had to deal with. but it’s still unfinished. most characters don’t have closure or even any development at all. i’m hoping on dlc at some point but. augh
soooo yea das it lol. i hope to write some actual characters studies and analyses for this guy the more i play!! this was just to get my thoughts down, i’ll probably revisit and add to it down the line!

if anyone is wondering why I’m suddenly on the mother goddess thing it’s bc someone compared one of phh kukulkan’s skills to tiamat, someone else mentioned all ‘mother’ type goddess are derived from tiamat in nasuverse and when I said that sounds like barnacleshit (not to mention how kukulkan is originally a male god lmao how does that work then) considering how Central America is oceans away from Mesopotamia (and humans settled there long before she came into being) they were like ‘oh it wasn’t tiamat it was that she along with all other mother goddesses originated from Çatalhöyük’ which.
Ok for starters Çatalhöyük is the name of the archaeological site, not the ‘goddess.’ For seconds they’re fairly certain the female figurines found there aren’t actually of mother goddess figures(based of the relatively low quantity of female figures found compared to figures of other items) and they certainly don’t suggest a female god cult or matriarchal society any more than any other object there. For thirds Çatalhöyük was most likely settled around 7500-6000 BCE, and the Americas were settled by AT LEAST 8000 BCE and very likely even earlier so it STILL doesn’t make sense for a mesoamerican god to somehow have originated FROM a goddess that started there.
Like the only mention of this goddess of Çatalhöyük is from fucking BB’s ccc profile! and it’s just a bunch of pseudo historic mumbo jumbo that ignores the actual origin of multiple goddesses (claiming that the power of creation breached from her to tiamat, cybele, Ishtar, inanna, Anat, Astarte, Gaia, Hera, Artemis, aphrodite, Athena, demeter, etc. but-many of those goddesses do not possess powers of creation? And have specific origins that aren’t from turkey??)
Like. Yes, you do find ‘mother goddesses’ across many different cultures and religions. This is not actually a sign that they’re all secretly interconnected through a magical pulsating web of vibrating flesh or whatever the fuck people want to think. It’s most likely because generally most people have mothers. The act of creating life/having children was pretty important wherever you went and it makes sense that like other concepts, such as love, death, war, or ruling things, being a mother would be considered something considered equally valuable and worth reflecting upon in your gods. THATS HER BEST FRIEND! i think when theyre both companions they feel theyre like, rivals for tavs protection at the start lmao but if one of them is in charge then that kind of neutralizes that. she would definitely come clean about her situation from the start because she knows he also has a Situation - she offers to keep his vampirism secret in exchange for his secrecy about her death (she doesnt really like people knowing, partially because she feels her employer makes her a liability, and partly because she hates the thought of anyone pitying her)
she also would let him drink her blood, mostly because she's curious about whether her blood would even be consumable (it is, it's quite normal actally, which is more confusing to her really) but also because like. to her it would feel kind of fucked up for her not to help him if shes perfectly capable of helping
i misunderstood this question im realizing now. im not deleting all that though. if he tries to bite her she will be surprised to see him, and push him off pretty harshly; however she'll tell him "you could have just asked, and i would have," and she will let him drink from her

she's fine with the player doing it! she figures any way they can make themself stronger is a better chance that they all stay alive. HOWEVER she would not want to do it herself - "I barely feel like I'm my own with this thing in my head. I'm certainly not going to feed the damn thing."
Will they stay with the Player Character regardless of siding with the goblins or the tieflings, or is it possible for them to leave the party permanently?
cal approves of helping the tieflings, and disapproves immensely of helping the cult. it won't cause her to leave, but it will set her approval almost as low as it can get without her leaving. if you side with the cult/the goblins she'll say that she trusts that you have your reasons, but she doesn't really want to know them
What can they be found doing at the tiefling/goblin party?
at the tiefling party: cal will confide that she stole a decent amount of whiskey from the goblin camp and invite you to have some with her. she thanks you for doing all you did to help the tieflings - she hadn't let herself believe she was someone who could do this kind of good. then she'll immediately start gossiping about rolan. she will invite a ftav/durge/origin character to join her for the night if they like (she will then skirt around defining your relationship for. a While. its a bit of an isabela situation) (this would be the players first time seeing her wound (you can see it later in-game if shes not romanced but since shes taking her shirt off to sleep with the character, Well). she feels Complicated about that). if not romanced at the party cal will hook up with shadowheart or lae'zel
at the goblin party: the player can find her pulling grass out of the ground by her tent and piling it up on a blanket. she'll say, "Do you mind? I'm kind of in the middle of something." she will make it very clear to you that to her you are a "convenient and capable meat-shield" and suggest that you keep it to just business. you can ask to join her for the night and she will say: "What, really? You don't want to look a little farther afield? Can't imagine you'd want to fuck someone who hates you. Unless - what, are you into that kind of thing?"

YEAH she can be. ive been toying with the idea that cal had been killed by bhaalists, so i think orin would like the idea of having her back
the pc will wake to find cal watching them. when they wake, cal will tell them that she's been thinking about what gortash said, about orin having infiltrated the camp. that she thinks she knows a way to prove that you're both yourselves - she'll show you a couple knives and suggest that making a shapechanger bleed might reveal its true form ("I'm only talking a gentle stabbing, nothing too bloody.") if you refuse she'll reveal herself as orin; if you go along with it she will in fact stab you pretty hard. orin will tell you that "Callie-girl is safe with me" and propose her whole deal to you, whereupon she'll add that "She's marked for us, so it might be difficult to let her go."
when you free cal, she tries to put on her usual unbothered facade but she will be pretty clearly shaken
Cal: Gods, it's you. It-it is you... right? Fuck. No, I'm alright, I just have about fifty more mental images about how I might die, courtesy of Orin. Let's get out of here? Please?
How do they react to the PC either allowing Astarion to ascend or convincing him to spare the 7000 spawn?
if astarion is ascended: Shit. He really did it. And we... let him. Helped him, even... I guess the choice is made and there's nothing for it. Still, I just hope he's still... you know, him.
if astarion remains a spawn: I wasn't sure he would be able to turn down all that power. The guarantee that you'll be truly safe, that you won't have to die again... It's a lot to walk away from. ... Not that I've thought about it extensively or anything. Anyway I'm proud of him really, but don't tell him so.
How does Tav react to the PC becoming a mind flayer? Can they offer to become one themselves? Does their reaction change if they’re romanced?
cal will nottt take the astral tadpole ("I just don't think I have a face for tentacles") but she won't object to a PC that chooses to take it for themself. if romanced, she'll confess that she's a little uneasy about the prospect of you changing, but that she knows you'll stay you, and she trusts you
How do they react when the Dark Urge first reveals their amnesia and murderous thoughts to them?
Cal: Well that's, uh... Shit, you're telling the truth, aren't you? I mean, you did always kind of strike me as worryingly good at killing, so I guess that makes a weird sort of sense. Wait, you haven't thought about killing me, have you?
(if playing a female character): I mean, it'd be fine if you have. Wouldn't hold it against you, like.
How do they react to the Dark Urge killing Alfira?
well she does not like it i can tell you that much! she will disapprove when you say you don't remember, but she'll take your word for it and compared to like, wyll or karlach shes less horrified

If romanced, how do they react to the Dark Urge trying to kill them in Act 2?
well unfortunately. due to how she is as a person. i think she would be a little into it initially. when she wakes to durge holding a knife to her throat, her first instinct is to sit up and kiss them, at which point they can tell her shes in danger.
Cal: Shit, sorry. It's the, uh. Adrenaline. Wait, danger? Were you actually going to kill me?
she will tie durge and sit with them through the night, responding fondly to their threats ("Aww, promise?") and encouraging durge to come back to her ("I know you're in there, and I know you're more than this. When you fight your way back to the surface, I'll be here. That's love - you showed me that.")

im kinda iffy on calling the mandos religious sect group thingy a cult but its pretty odd. Id compare it more to super christian fundie parents who raise their kids to follow their religion and get super mad and disown them when they dont wanna be AS christian as they are.
it should be a choice, the mandos are safe their and its either be with the people you were raised with and have a safe area to go back to or get fucked? cult certainly isnt a thing to just throw around

Small, secretive, high-control, has members willing to die for it, heavily indoctrinates members, spurns and shuns ppl who break the rules, charismatic leader who must be obeyed, etc. Death Watch is even worse, what with the brainwashing children and the murdering nonbelievers.
You know what they say: cult + time = religion. There's a lot of crossover.
Also, many cults are Christian? At least in the US. Fundies do a lot of cult shit. I've met a few people who used to be in cults, and a common feature of those cults was that they all insisted they were the only true Christians. So they're not mutually exclusive by any means.
To clarify, I'm not saying all or even most Mandalorians are in a cult. They have too many schisms for that.

This is is just me going crazy over character dynamics and going onto the hwa stuff I mentioned in a bit more depth.
I really love the moments between him and mc, right now I would say it's my favorite dynamic in the story. On one hand, the tension is funny to witness because, unlike her relationships with san and hj, there is some semblance of hesitation from both parties here instead of just her lmao? But also, there's so much to unpack about them and what they could become? In short, they keep getting entangled with one another, with varying degrees of enthusiasm from each of them, just to pull apart as quickly as they started the whole thing and I think it's funny how that works.
Getting more detailed on my view of it all, on his side it seems to me that she is kind of growing on him a little bit over time, more so because of their proximity and how important she ended up being in his life due to the importance hj himself placed on her in his own life if that makes any sense? What I mean by that is, I guess hwa never really gave himself enough time or space to feel bad about any of the victims of the cult because his sole focus is hj, so he wouldn't allow himself to see what they are doing to others, he wouldn't even have time to get close enough to any of them to do that. However, because of hj's proximity to mc, hwa comes as a package deal and therefore he too is forced to interact closely with her, now he finally gets to confront the damage they do to someone up close and personal, and it doesn't help that he likes her a bit despite himself (just physically? Perhaps a bit emotionally?).
On mc's side, she is already deprived of any real support system, she is already blurring the lines between her and the cult leaders because of how much she craves some semblance of comfort and companionship. For hwa to aid her, as minimally as he does, during these times when hj is clearly extra unstable, it really messes with her already hazy perception of him.
So we get hwa wanting to get closer, despite his dislike towards her for how focused hj is on her, because he is physically attracted to her yes but also seemingly due to him genuinely being concerned for her (I will also point out that while I am theorizing that the concern comes from genuine sympathy and maybe some empathy, I do think that part of it comes from him not wanting hj to get upset in case something happens to mc, even if that something were to be hj himself), and then we have mc, who can't help but be drawn as a moth to the fucking flames of hell when he offers any semblance of support (aka physical comfort and lending an ear when she asks things), because she can't get that from her actual loved ones so any source, as rancid as it is, she will probably take even if begrudgingly, on top of all that, *she* certainly empathizes with him because no one else is close to hj like they are.
That moment with woo really cemented that for her I think, he doesn't know what it feels like to be stuck with hj (as an individual, not the cult leader) be that willingly or not, he doesn't know how confusing and disorienting it is to navigate his mood swings and gaslighting when you are being *personally and closely* targeted by it, no one in the cult does besides her and hwa because for him they are all even lower in the hierarchy than those two, he didn't really need to follow the other cult members as closely that is.
Hwa stuck himself to hj's side by his own accord and from a young age, and now hj is trying to forcefully shackle her down to him as well. That is also another reason why I feel inclined to believe that he is warming up to her? I said he may be starting to empathize with her a little instead of just feeling sympathy, because he is seeing someone else entering the playing field that is his relationship with hj, and he may be starting to see that she could very well be on his team instead of against him (they are the losing team in the game, but at least they are losing together yay!). Like, the hand scene with hj teasing him about it? Mc is probably the only other person that hwa considers as a possible source of comfort (I wouldn't say affection because I don't think they are quite there yet) besides hj at this point, and she would probably treat him a bit better than hj does, she'd treat him as a BAD person sure but a person nonetheless, meanwhile hj steps all over the guy lol.
Its just the three of them in their own little twisted world in a way (Its a very interesting dynamic, I am so invested to see how it develops omg). That's also why I believe he wasn't just trying to keep her from upsetting hj for hj's sake this chapter, nor did it seem to be just to keep her safe from his wrath. Instead, he is almost playing peacemaker between both of them, it's just that hj is less likely to play along than mc so he has to rope her into walking around the eggshells she can't see, but to me it almost looks like he is trying to make a three way relationship work there lmao. Almost. Who knows. I can't wait to find out.
Anyway, despite hwa and mc repeatedly getting closer and closer, they always take a step back right after because 1. She lowkey stole his man without even trying plus he is supposed to stay loyal to said man and 2. He is a cult leader who has threatened her life multiple times and is still holding her hostage and is still a threat to her life. And they keep doing this little song and dance of it all around hj, the clinically unstable psycho. So yeah, fun for everyone, hooraaaay!!
That's all I wanted to add (I kind of wanted to go on to talk about the stuff between her and san but maybe that can wait for another day so I won't kill you with my essay of an ask lmaoo).

YES this idea that seonghwa is concerned about mc AND hj simultaneously is so good . like he has to worry that hj will lose interest in him but he also has to worry that something will happen to her and that hj will lose it and he also has to worry what will happen to her AND hj if she keeps things going the way that they are like . seonghwa is really a mediator in this whole situation now whether he wants to be or not but he also has to contend w his own feelings and worries which makes everything more complicated
mc and hwa are absolutely tied together just on the virtue that they are the closest people to hj and are the only ones that like. Really get to see him or know him beyond a literal religious figure. And yes yes for sure they have to start seeing themselves as … idk like coworkers ? LMAO RATHER THAN ENEMIES I MEAN like not friends but they have to realize how they can interplay with each other to create a “”good”” situation for everyone yk

i actually think zeke would love travelling! getting to see as much of the world as he possibly can would certainly have been a goal of his had he grown up under normal circumstances. sadly he is pretty much confined to baldur’s gate only pre-game, even if he is allowed to pursue his career as a detective. never even considers that it might be something he’d enjoy because of his father/position in the cult before he gets tadpoled. while excitement about seeing new places is understandably dimmed by the whole “maybe turning into a squid” and “brain got scrambled by sister” deal, he still finds some joy in it though.
💤 SLEEPING SIGN — is your oc a light sleeper or a heavy sleeper? how are their sleeping habits?

i fully believe that john considers g1deon "legendarily unamorous" only because he wouldnt fuck him and/or join the polycule. certainly makes me wonder about what their relationship was like pre-resurrection. actually wait heres a question: who of the crew do you think fucked pre-resurrection?

G1deon was also John's first crush when he was a teenager and realised he also liked boy.
Augustine/John definitely. I... have way too many headcanons about it. John/Mercy too bc the 3 of them worked together for years collaborating on a secretive project, high-stress high stakes and all that... we know they're all physically attracted to each other... sometimes cappuccino Tuesdays got sexy.
I THINK pre-Resurrection Mercy & Cristabel were strictly platonic (actually I think Mercy had romantic feelings but never acted on them) and we know Cassiopeia and Nigella were dating and presumably exclusive. IDK what / who Alfred was doing, if anyone.

If asked why he’s always very ideological about why he does it, very particular about his targets but ultimately yeah. Whatever he can’t obtain via his weirdo hermit ass lifestyle he just forages in other peoples’ homes and businesses for. Needless to say Eran went full murder mode, forgot how to be human for a few years, the whole nine yards. I could gush about that RP for hours it is my favourite thing I’ve done with Eran like ever
🧊 - Is their current design the first one? I went and tracked down a specil [ EXCLUSIVE !! ] piece of sprinkle history: behold scrackle circa 2009.
Needless to say the current design is slightly different. Having said that I think I had the basics of his design dialed in within the first few years.
🍀 - What originally inspired the OC? I can’t explain this without sounding like an insane person, but it involves a fixation that 13yo bug had with a popular Canadian country-rock band. It’s all completely irrelevant now but it is funny to think about. There were comics.
🌂 - What genre do they belong in? For a long time I had him really locked in to fantasy stuff but I am less and less enamoured with that genre as time goes on for a few different reasons. It’s familiar and comfortable for me certainly, and Eran has BY FAR the most ‘lore’ in his original, fantasy-ish canon. So I’m not sure if that counts as belonging but it’s certainly his origin. Even then that's more of a setting than a genre so I'll expand on that- I think there are certain elements that make an Eran story successful in my eyes, that aren't limited to fantasy. I need him to be able to do crimes, be a Wild Boy and generally be more of a freak than a modern setting would typically allow (not to 100% trash the FC5 au but it definitely needs…something). I think it would be funny to put him in a heist movie. I’ve always liked him best when leaning heavily into the drama, character study sort of shit.
🙌 - How many sibling does your OC have? One brother, Ash, whom he hates.
🍎 - What is the OC’s relationship w/their parents like? Bad! His whole family is a cult in its own right more or less and Eran really doesn’t want anything to do with them. It's admittedly something I haven't fleshed out toooooo much. E's very much a 'keep moving forward' type of guy so naturally his family past stuff has not had too much attention.
💎 - Do you ever see yourself killing off the OC? I have had him beef it before- obviously it’s been in self contained storylines. As for anything more permanent- hard to say. I never want to rule out the possibility entirely. I definitely feel like I’ve exhausted my writing options for him at the moment so that seems close to death in a way. I can draw the little bastard until the end of days but coherent story content has been…. Lacking. :|
🍩 -Who is your OC’s arch-nemesis or rival? I don’t feel like he’s had a ‘nemesis’ really in any of the main stories. His scraps tend to be against larger organisations, the world around him or his own dumb ass decisions. I think his most persistent ‘enemy’ has been a Mages’ Guild (also from ‘The RP’ I keep blabbing on about) which he angered on many different occasions though not without good reason. ;)

“What do you want with me?” Niko asks, trying to keep the tremor out of their voice, not that it really does much for them.
The... well, they aren’t sure what it is. It stands tall over them, pale gold skin and a head literally detached from its body. That’s not to mention the wings, horns, deer legs, and a permanent shadow over the upper half of its head, yet its eyes can still be seen.
It’s fucking terrifying, and Niko is pretty sure it wants them dead.
It brings its clawed hand to their face and tilts their chin up, making eye contact with them. “Well... we both know you saw something you weren’t supposed to see, correct?”
Niko slaps its hand away, which is probably a bad decision, but their entire life has been full of bad decisions anyways, so what does it matter? It grins, presumably to itself, with red teeth gleaming in the faint moonlight glimmering through the trees. “I won’t tell anyone,” They hiss, and that’s not entirely a lie. They won’t tell anyone other than, y’know, the police.
It shrugs, gesturing to the person (probably an adventurer or something, judging by their outfit) it just killed. “Two can keep a secret if one of them is dead,” It says cheerfully, stepping closer to Niko.
They feel their heart drop to their stomach, eyes widening. “N-No! I can- I dunno, whatever you want, I’ll do it, just-”
It tilts its head, a wide smile on its face, watching them with glowing eyes. “Do you really think you could be of use to me?”
Niko nods, not trusting their voice to work right now. It grins even wider. “I could use... a devotee, if you will, to my... cause. But I hope you realize that means total secrecy. If you were to tell anyone, well...”
Once again, it gestures to the corpse behind it. “You’ve already seen what happens. I’m sure we can both agree that one outcome is certainly better than the other, correct?”
Niko swallows thickly, nodding. It giggles to itself. “I don’t take kindly to double agents, either,” It says, leaning down to be at eye level with them. “I have eyes everywhere, you know.”
They aren’t sure if it’s bluffing.
“So, what will it be?” It asks, that never-faltering smile unnerving the shit out of them.
“It’s a deal,” Niko says, voice shaky. “But... what even is your ‘cause’?”
“The details aren’t important,” It hums, shaking their hand. “You’ve made a good choice, my dear.”
“I’m-” They try to introduce themself, but it cuts them off.
“Niko, yes, I am aware,” It says, confirming that it probably wasn’t bluffing. “You may call me... Creator. I feel that is a suitable name, no?”
One hell of an ego, Is what Niko’s first thought is. Instead, they find themself nodding.
“I’m glad you agree,” Creator hums. “Come, let’s go get you proper attire, if you’re going to be devoted to me from now on, yes?”
And Niko follows them, wondering what the hell they just got themself into.

hi jasmine, i'm sorry to bother you and you don't need to answer but it would help me out a lot if you could give your opinion on how to gain followers with making gifs. i know gif making isn't supposed to be about notes and i understand that but as a smaller content creator it's sometimes so discouraging to try and make stuff but the bigger blogs always do it first and they will get more notes. i don't really know who to ask, so please answer if you can 💜 i love your blog.
thank you so much, but i don't know if i have any realistic advice for this? it also feels kind of condescending, like i certainly don't see myself as an authority on this 😭 we've talked about this so many times, and it keeps getting regurgitated (tumblr's getting worse, the like to reblog ratio is abysmal, you need to post as soon as something comes out etc.) but nothing changes. the current state of tumblr is just not very content creator friendly and i don't mean to sound discouraging because gif making is also something I enjoy, but the reality is tumblr is just getting worse and worse in terms of sharing content. I didn't really do anything too special, if it's truly notes you want, gif the popular shows as they come out, you might not be the #1 post, but you'll get followers and it will build up over time. It sucks but it is what it is. And I know technically I 'contribute' to the problem since I also gif fairly quickly if I can but I can guarantee you no one is going to ~change the current system, if I don't gif something first someone else will. If your post doesn't trend you most likely won't break 2-3k and that's if you're giffing for a fandom with a cult following like marvel or sw. idk it's fucking awful lmao just keep making gifs and keep building a following that's the only logical thing I can say I think.

I loved reading about finnean in your tags of that poll reblog. This is your sign, if you want one, to talk about him (or any of your other characters) all you want. Fascinating little guy
Anon you have unleashed the floodgates I think... This is gonna be a mix of general information, campaign recaps related to him, and just general brain rot so uhhhhh who's to say if this will be even remotely intelligible lmao
So like I laid out in the tags of that post, Finnean Galondel is a high elf Order of the Scribes Wizard (currently we're at level 14). He's currently 91 and since elves reach the age of maturity at ~100 at least according to the PHB, I started by playing him as the equivalent of someone going off to college for the first time: very smart, but because he had never traveled very far outside of his village before so kinda naive about how the world actually works. He's certainly matured over the course of the campaign, but he does still tend towards optimistic outlooks
The backstory I originally provided for him was pretty brief. Essentially, Finnean's father had been out of the picture ever since he was 5 years old. Nobody really knows what happened to him. His mother told him that he was a very dedicated scholar, studying magic and history in general, but specializing in one specific area thousands of years old. Then, one night, he apparently stumbled on a huge discovery and told her that he needed to take it to the village elders right away. He left and wasn't back the next morning, the village elders saying that he never even approached them that night. Nobody knows why he decided to leave the village, or if it even was a voluntary decision at all. However, since 85 year had passed since then, Finnean and his mother essentially treated him like he was dead by that point.
And Finnean and his mom!! He is SUCH a mama's boy it's not even funny. Before the campaign, she was his best friend in the world. He loved helping her out around the house and just spending time with her. However, she was the one who pushed Finnean to leave home so that he could branch out in his training. She knew that he was pretty sheltered and needed real world experience if he was to actually improve and become a better wizard like he wanted. I have written multiple letters to my DM in character throughout the campaign for what Finnean was sending to his mom to keep her up to date
There was also Daemaris (hate this fucking bitch) who I originally included as Finnean's childhood bully. He's basically the village golden child who has always outshone Finnean and then rubbed it in his face. He left the village to strike out on his own a couple years before Finnean did and for right now all you need to know is he's an asshole and I hate him ajafsldf (he will become important later tho)
So yeah not to get into the details of everything we did in the first part of the campaign, but we played through the Dragon Heist module with some supplementary side adventures. Here, Finnean gets his first experience with violence and actually taking a life, as everything he's done before has been in controlled environments. He struggled with this for some time, about the realities of adventuring compared to all the books he had read that had made it sort of idyllic and heroic (because of course he's a huge book nerd, he's a wizard)
The thing that kinda makes him come to terms with death and killing is the group's first encounter with an evil cult (typical dnd stuff yknow). Basically it's all the horrible things, the group saw piles of bodies, but also saw a few survivors who were horrible brainwashed + traumatized from everything. We fought this cult leader, Vialis, but before we could finish him off, he teleported away. Finnean, seeing all the death and carnage around him, realized that he wished that they had been able to kill this man so he could never do this to anyone else again. Sometimes the world is a better place with certain people dead. (This cult encounter is where we have gotten one of the lines that has become our paladin's maxim throughout the campaign and has now become a central theme: "Death is inevitable, but not today" Whether that death is the PCs, those NPCs/citizens we are trying to protect, etc. Everyone will eventually die, but that doesn't mean we won't fight like hell to push it down the line later. So yeah, Finnean realizes that sometimes killing is necessary and it's part of his duty as an adventurer to carry it out.
During the course of Dragon Heist, Finnean and his friends (our party calls themelves The Keepers of the Howling Moon because we set up/own a karaoke bar in Waterdeep called The Howling Moon and it just sounds sick as shit) work for Vajra Safahr, the Blackstaff. She's basically the archmage of Waterdeep and I love her so much. Finnean and her have developed a friendship throughout the campaign. At first, I'm pretty sure she viewed him as a kid with a good heart, but green in the gills. However, as the party learned and grew and saved Waterdeep from devils, she has become much more comfortable with the party. Finnean opened up to her about his own self-doubt to her and she in turn revealed her own insecurities as the youngest Blackstaff in Waterdeep history and how she is pulled in a million different directions always. Whenever we're in Waterdeep and have downtime, Finnean spends a lot of time with her. Usually, he'll visit her tower and they'll each work on whatever they need to together. We have sending stones that connect directly to her and are CONSTANTLY trying to fill her in on what's going on with us. I just... love her so much
Another important NPC to Finnean is one Renaer Neverember. I wanna say we met him in session two, saw him be insanely competent in battle, and Finnean was IMMEDIATELY smitten with him. At the beginning of the campaign there was... so much failed flirting and obliviousness on Finnean's end. I think the most mortifying one was, Finnean went to his house, followed a courting ritual suggested by another party member (who, unbeknownst to him at this point, had just escaped from a cult so her perspective on romance was severely skewed), and then, when Renaer tried to let him down gently, misinterpreted his words and believed they were dating. After lots of second hand embarrassment, Finnean got his ass handed to him emotionally (Renaer basically said "look, you seem like a great guy, but I have a lot going on with my dad rn" but was never a dick) and resolved that they would never be more than friends.
However, there have been so many moments where Renaer singles out Finnean specifically from the rest of the party: getting bracers of defense for his birthday, lingering touches as the party goes off the Baldur's Gate, etc, etc. So in character, Finnean has already resolved they can never be more than friends based just on how badly all previous attempts at pursuing him went. Out of character I am just SCREAMING because the stories of Finnean and Renaer are so similar to each other, but so different.
Renaer has a bad relationship with his father Dagult, who is an important figure in the city of Neverwinter. His father embezzled a shit ton of Waterdeep money and then dipped. Renaer has had to deal with the mess his father left behind, despite how much he wants to wash his hands of everything and be his own person. To most people he will be a Neverember first, and then Renaer. Finnean, on the other hand, barely knew his father. He used his father's books to study and connected to him that way, but there was never any expectation placed on him to be anything but himself. However, when he learns more about his father, who he was and how he disappeared, he knows that he must finish what his dad started, no matter how much the idea of it scares him.
Speaking of Finnean's dad, Finnean found out more about him by a Cleric/Warlock of the Raven Queen literally giving him the memories of his father's last moments. He had been researching this ancient lich and had finally figured out his location. He left a package and letter to Finnean and then set out to confront the lich. He didn't tell anyone what he was doing and didn't take any sort of backup with him. He ultimately died in his quest.
So cue a couple weeks in game later, we finally make our way back to Finnean's village to retrieve this package for Finnean, which pointed out some suspect ruins. There was a SHIT ton of stuff that happened there for each of us PCs (Paladin/Barbarian from the cult of Orcus had an emotional confrontation with her older brother, trying to save him from whatever entity's control he was under and Warlock/Sorcerer basically found out that she was not who she thought she was (too convoluted to explain easily, but essentially due to the trauma of seeing her sister die in front of her, she took on the persona of her sister to shield herself from that truth + her patron took advantage of that trauma further in making their pact)). The shit that happened with Finnean was twofold
Motherfucking DAEMARIS of all people was in these ruins, performing a ritual to open a portal for the bbeg lich. Finnean always knew he was an asshole, but he never thought he could ever actually be evil. They had a very intense confrontation, and when Finnean tried to get an answer about why Daemaris was doing this and hurting people, Daemaris accused Finnean of being a hypocrite. He wasn't very clear, but essentially said that they both play judge, jury, and executioner. They both kill. We have not played much past this, but now Finnean is spiraling because he thinks that Daemaris might be right. The first time Finnean killed someone, he literally threw up. Now though, he and his party members kill those they deem evil without hesitation and is that right for him? Yes, some people are probably better off dead, but to the extent of what they've been doing? He has a lot to think about. Even if this isn't true, Daemaris' mind games have worked on him. I definitely see a future where Finnean hesitates in the heat of battle and either he, or worse, one of his friends gets hurt because of it. Also, even though I as a player really really want to kill Daemaris, I think Finnean will struggle with this a lot more and probably won't be able to finish him off
Nezerac, the lich, was able to get through the portal and gave a long villain speech and one of the things he said implied that something about Finnean was only able to do all this because of him (so that could mean the source of his magic, his lineage, his village, SOMETHING) which is really just horrifying. And also probably gives a hint as to why Daemaris is working with Nezerac. He also revealed that he had been keeping an eye on the whole party since the very beggining which is so concerning. Nezerac then straight up killed Finnean and the Warlock and then provided two diamonds for the paladin to revivify them as a power move/taunt. And like I said, haven't played past this yet but Finnean is gonna SPIRAL and feel a shit ton of guilt about the entire encounter because the only reason his friends were there was because of him.
I think Finnean has half a thought that he should not let them get involved further, that he needs to hide his guilt that he feels about putting them in this position. He needs to be stronger and strong means that he would be able to handle this on his own. But then he also remembers the last memories of his father (which are now as good as his own memories), where he tried to confront Nezerac on his own and the only thing he did was get himself killed and give Nezerac another soul to gain power from. Maybe if he had spoken with Mordenkainen, or any of the other powerful wizards he knew, he would still be here and Finnean wouldn't be the one who has to deal with all of this. Something something, treading the path of his father but not making the same mistakes
There's probably stuff I'm leaving out about him, but like... I love him. If anything happens to Finnean I will genuinely be inconsolable for at least a week. He's the first dnd character I ever created and I absolutely love playing him because he has all this real shit going on, but also has the capacity to be Just A Little Guy when we aren't in the thick of it. (And I don't mean to toot my own horn, but I think he gets a lot of good, funny moments outside of serious scenes to keep things from getting too dire)
Rapid fire little moments/facts about Finnean:
He has a ferret familiar named Fenny (short for Fenjamin). Fenny's "wriggly body is optimized for dance" and essentially when he's running around the battlefield and distracting our enemies (aka giving the help action to give one of us advantage on attacks) he's "dancing" :)
Met Volo (aka in-universe writer of Volo's Guide to Monsters), had an insane fanboy moment, and got him to sign multiple things including a copy of the book which he kept as a prized possession
His wizard robes were sewn for him by his mom and his name is stitched into the neck part
His spellbook is actually a library book from his hometown. He didn't realize that those needed to be returned though, so it's horribly horribly overdue (we actually just got back to his village a session or two ago and he had to pay a huge fine on it because it's now so beat up it can't be returned lol)
Made the poor choice of buying a Gucci belt for way too much gold (from Old Man Gucci at Ye Old Gucci Shoppe) but then became disillusioned with the drip when he kept seeing assholes wearing them
Helped make magical WWE called Mage Mania (I ordered shirts for my group as Christmas gifts after 2 years of us joking about it. I'm so excited for these)
For an event at the karaoke bar, he disguised self to make himself look like a women. Rolled a nat 20 for hotness and so was disguised as an extremely hot MILF. Daemaris (back before we knew he was like... actually evil) hit on him endlessly and it was very fun to see his reaction when Finnean dropped the disguise and revealed that he had been pursuing the "idiot loser" all night
Loves to study and learn languages (he initially bonded with the paladin/barbarian by taking Abyssal lessons from her)

random question: do you have any headcanons about Yoko? anything about her upbringing, her relationship with her lineage, how does she live as a witch in the modern era (where apparently even Dracula became just a myth), her general personality? ^^
OFF THE TOP OF MY HEAD, NOT ORGANISED BECAUSE UM IM TIRED
- its said she works for the church, like sypha, so i imagine thats the family business. for centuries, the belnades have worked from the sidelines, assisting the church rather than facing dracula directly and only interfering when necessary, like in 1999
- yoko does not do this, because much of her childhood was spent around alucard :> he was responsible for much of her education, in both magic and battle. though her family handled the main things like elemental magic, alucard taught her bits and pieces of alchemy and more general spells, alongside tutoring her in how to actually fight. later on, arikado is responsible for having taught yoko how to perform weapon synthesis for soma, as well as teaching her about magic seals. since she knows alucard so well, she ends up wanting to have a much more active part in things than the rest of her family, and this culminates in alucard often letting her accompany him with his work and, of course, bringing her along in aria of sorrow and giving her the tip for the cult in dawn. unfortunate that julius left her at the gate lmao
- another note, i imagine shes related to julius through being related to trevor and sypha, and if sypha can result in juste happening, then i think trevors involvement left some traits in yokos family. mostly i draw her with the certified Belmont Eyebrows whenever i remember to, but also i imagine she has more physical combat proficiency than is usual for a bloodline of spellcasters working from the shadows. also if you havent noticed, yoko certainly looks a lot like juste and leon both :) i think if she tried using subweapons, she could probably pull off spell fusion too
- well, nobody really thinks witches are real, so similarly to how arikado lives as just Some Agent Guy, yoko lives as Some Church Employee Gal as far as the public eye is concerned. at most, her talents are viewed as not actually real, just fake stuff like mysticism and future-telling and etcetera. she definitely buys into this to try and cover herself, but shes kind of a bad liar? fortunately, people take her bad lying as just being embarrassed her skills arent as real as advertised (hint: theyre more real!)
- yokos general personality is described as kind but very nosy, and i think that works. she seems cheerful and peppy as a person, which is unusual for cv girls, who usually fit into the fridged wife model and not much else. i think that shes generally quite friendly, with a bit of hidden sass -- yoko reminds arikado a little bit of trevor, actually, which feeds into him being fond of her. she also has a bit of a short temper. however, she ends up being kind of an enabler for arikados shenanigans, which is a Problem. yoko is a very bad liar, but only with Direct lies. if she says something true to avoid saying something else, shes perfectly fine, for example. that happens a lot in aos. as well as that, despite her misgivings, she helps arikado with things like manipulating soma and visiting minas shrine, and shes also technically complicit in his use of julius. ... this adds a layer of unspoken guilt and deceit to all her friendships shes made, which tends to eat at her quite a lot, but she cant talk about it for worry of troubling arikado as well, who is really trying to avoid the consequences of his actions and she doesnt want to fuck that up for him because, yknow, hes basically like her weird ??? semi-relative slash mentor thing, she respects him and hes probably the closest friend she has. but that means her friendships with soma (who she helped manipulate), mina (who she helped endanger and keeps tabs on for arikado), and julius (whose use as basically a tool in aria she was complicit in) are all layered with her hidden deceit and feelings of guiltiness. i sure hope that doesnt blow up in everyones faces one day combined with her inability to lie properly!
- forgot to fit this in earlier, but she probably feels the weight of syphas legacy on her a lot, since. she hangs out with arikado lmao what can you expect. she tries to avoid this by dressing like cviii alucard instead of sypha, she uses his colours and everything. hes totally not touched by it despite the mixed intentions
misc hcs:
- as you can tell, i think she was basically arikados accomplice in aos, and also that she was helping him with whatever plan he had in dos, before everything went totally topside when julius tagged along and soma crashed the party
- her mother (1999 belnades) fucking hates arikado lmao those bitches cant stand eachother. its mostly because of julius business but also she thinks arikado was the worst influence on yoko ever and shes RIGHT
- she got julius his job with the church partly because she felt guilty about arikado leaving him in the fuckin dust for however long and also not having done anything about it despite the fact she really couldnt in the first place
- she started visiting mina so arikado wouldnt have to do it directly so often, but they are genuinely close! to yoko, an only child, mina is very much like a sister of sorts (like is said in some materials and such)
- yoko is smarter than she lets on, but occasionally plays her supposed ditziness to her advantage. not often, but sometimes
- grahams presence in aria was because yoko was trying to catch him out in the first place and arikado figured it would be convenient to make it easier for her and him. that did not go as well as they planned lol
- yoko and arikado ride or die true and real in my head. yes he did use her as leverage when she was bleeding out on the floor yes he does genuinely care about her a lot yes she is aware of both these facts its Complicated okay
