[the amnesia card always declines]
If there's one thing Joshua Hong has above all else, it's the audacity.
If there's two things, it's the audacity and the most grabbable, stupidly defined, makes-you-wanna-bite-into-them man tits you've ever seen in your godforsaken, miserable life.
Well, okay, maybe that counts as three things. Whatever.
"Oh my fucking god," you hiss, ducking closer to the coffee shop/bakery's table and hiding your entire head with both arms. "What is he doing here?!"
Soonyoung, the least subtle person you know (but you've given up on fixing him at this point) turns 180 degrees in his chair to watch the loser posing for a "totally casual" photoshoot outside. He hums in understanding, putting his hand under his chin like an experienced detective. "He must've seen your instagram story."
"He doesn't even follow me..."
"Oh, he's following you, alright." Soonyoung turns back around and stabs his fork into his strawberries 'n' cream croffle.
You glare at him over the pastries on the table. "Very funny."
"I know I am," he says with a dumb smile that says your sarcasm was not effective! "When are you going to stop holding your stupid grudge?"
An offended scoff escapes you. "It is a completely reasonable grudge, for your information."
"What, you being mad at him for...kissing you at that party?"
"For smooshing that stupid pretty face on mine at that party then acting like it never happened!" You slap your hands on the table, but as soon as you spot Joshua outside start to turn his head, you duck back into hiding.
Soonyoung points his fork at you. "He was drunk."
"So was I," you argue with a sneer. "But I remember everything-- especially you being the reason we had to cut the night short because you started drunk-crying and I had to take you home."
Suddenly capable of shame, Soonyoung scoots forward in his chair and leans over the table. "Have I mentioned that I love you and you're the best friend in the world?"
"Whatever, buddy." You roll your eyes. "Just remember all the shit I've done for you when I'm the one crying in the club."
"Crying in the club?" echoes Joshua--
Joshua?!
Your soul escapes your body entirely and jolts back in a nano-second. "Holy fuck--" You put a hand over your racing heart and send a death glare to the smug offender. "You scared the shit out of me!"
Joshua just smiles that stupidly pretty smile and, damn it, you're supposed to be ignoring this jackass.
"Sorry," he says, but he doesn't sound sorry at all. "Are you free?"
Making a face, you look over at Soonyoung, who just shrugs, then back at Joshua. "...Right now?"
"Right now is good." He nods in thought. "Or later today. Or tomorrow. If not, then the day after that. You've been avoiding me."
You force your shoulders to relax and avert your eyes. "No I haven't."
Joshua's expression suddenly goes solemn, which you notice because, shit, you started looking at him again. "Did I do something?"
At that, you scoff, crossing your arms and shaking your head in disbelief.
"Seriously. That party... I don't remember much, except that I've barely seen you since."
"Don't play the amnesia card on me, Josh. It's so tired."
His brows furrow, and your stupid fingers want to massage the hurt look right off his forehead. As if the dumbass deserves it.
"It's not amnesia," Joshua says. "But it's fuzzy. I can't tell what really happened that night or what was just my dream."
"Really? We're talking dreams now?"
He shrugs, crossing his arms, which fold just underneath those stupid, huge pecs... "I happen to dream about you a lot."
"Mmhm... Sure..." Are they bigger than the croffles? The melon buns? The... "Wait-- what?"
Joshua smiles, and you just know he caught you staring, the little shit. "I said, I dream about you a lot. Kiss scenes included."
Your jaw drops, maybe to the floor, but you can't be bothered to check. Out of the corner of your eye, you see Soonyoung make a perfect circle with his mouth before he hurriedly asks the barista if they serve popcorn.
"Joshua Hong, you..." Standing from your chair, you fist the collar of his fleece sweater in both hands, primed to throttle. "...are so fucking stupid."
Then somehow, even though you're the one who pulls him in, he's the one who takes your breath away.
When your lips part, though, you open your eyes while his stay closed, and he leans in again.
"Wait," you say, halting him with the one word. "How did you find me here?"
Wincing, Joshua peeks just one eye open. "Please don't be mad at him."
You whip around, but the bell over the shop's door is already tinging, and Soonyoung is dashing across the street like his life depends on it.
Good, because it does.
"Kwon Soonyoung! You are so fucking dead!"

SO!
I got Nichijou volume 11 and NANO-NENDO!!!
I would like to review each one of those beautiful beautiful beautiful items!
First of Nichijou volume 11: Nichijou's long awaited return, i remember when i heard those news back in 2021 i couldn't stop crying from how happy i was! And i am glad that Arawi still has the energy to put out more adventures of our lovely goobers. I'm actually very pleased with what came out! And i think volume 11 as a whole fixed a lot of the issues i had with the magazine versions of the chapters. The volume flows very nicely from chapter to chapter (since all of them have been rearranged in comparison to the chronological order in which they were released). The redraws are very acceptable and appropriate! And the little sketches between chapters help a lot with pacing everything together nicely and provide some much needed context.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I will say though that not every chapter is a hit! There are some things i would have changed overall but as a whole I'm very pleased with the final product! , i can't wait to see what Arawi will cook for volume 12!!!.
Now ... The moment I've been waiting for a few months now!!!
Tumblr media
This creature is the best thing in the whole world. It's so revolutionary that i think it can bring world peace!!!!
Every feature is so cool! There are many different expression and body combinations you can make up!
Tumblr media
I'm very happy that i got to preorder it !!! Now Haka-plush and Plush-amoto will have some much needed company!!!
Tumblr media
That's all for now‼️
.
See you again soon for Dragon Ball X nichijou Chapter 21 (part 1) ‼️

What if s2 ep9 very long review (with spoilers!)
Nothing worst can't happened to the what if serie. I knew it, I was prepared from it. I already think about plot for season 2 and "Supreme can be the final bad guy?" Was already an option in my mind and I like the idea.
Oh and I don't want to read someone telling me "You only the goth boyfriend meow meow fangirl and a anti Carter" I'm not, I 100% know Supreme isn't like I headcanon him, here I'm only taking fact from the show.
I'm going to start with what I find cool into the episode:
I like the fact Captain Carter is the main character of the serie. I like the fact Kahori is a more important and powerfull character than Stephen. I like they changed Stephen monster form. I LIKE the fact Stephen is the bag guy of the season, great idea.
And the biggesst problem is that to every of these point have a "but" and a big one.
I like Captain Carter episode into this season, I started to feel tired during the 1602 episode and seeing her at the final episode ALONE vs Supreme... no Marvel I can't beleive she's stronger than him. She's a super soldier, she's intelligent have a militar formation, but NO she can't use 6 infinites stone like nothing and being more powerfull than Stephen. They are no built up for this (With Killmonger in the first season we have an explanation, he know nano technology, he worked during the whole ep on Ultron armor) Here Peggy use nano bot and the stone like she breath, with a ligth and funny attitude than upset me. She's like this during the whole episode btw. Girl... the multivers is going to die and you're laugthing and Having fun... where is the Carter who understand how in pain Stephen is, and how important the multivers stability is. And everyone at the end gives her their powerfull weapons to figth, good idea btw, but the way it is I can't avoid the Mary sue original fanfic in my head. "She's beautifull, so intelligent, so kind and strong than everyone like her." Carter writing during the whole season is weak like this for me. Compare to the first one, it's a total down grade I'm sorry. And once again I like this character, I have nothing about the idea of having a female warrior as a main character but please PLEASE make her a good writing character in a first place! The interaction between her and Stephen in the first season was well writed, subtile, here we have dial from power ranger episode: "Stephen It's not you!" "I'm not anymore!" Come on!!! I heard that a thousand of time and it's still not working here!
Kahori... Kahori my poor girl... I wanted YOU as a main character of this episode. Imagine someone totally stranger to Stephen's story behing manipulate by him because he looks nice and discovering he's a total unwell crazy demon. Using the 6 stones one by one, because she already knew how to use one. I'm doing what if here... but for now we again got the "side kick color character" syndrome. She has no used into this episode, Carter doing everything alone. I'd love to see here kicking Stephen's butt alone because they are so much more sens than Carter! She fougth Conquistador, she used to infinite stone, she can figth Stephen who is stealing energy from other univers.
And Stephen... I don't even know what to say about him. The whole developpement of his character totally vanish. I HATE when writers makes step back between season to fit their new story and here it's not working. I can totally admit my vision of the character into the first season is not the same as everyone but the best part of the character is that... he could turn to be a bad guy, but he learned his mystake and choose to change. That the most beautifull part of him for me, it's full of hope and positivity. Here turning back to a vilain again isn't a good idea but the fact it's AGAIN because of Christine and acting like everything never happened.. come one. You can totally point the "savior syndrome" he has and only wanted to capture vilain to fixe destroyed univers in general. Pointing the fact it's not his "pain" who turn him evil but his hyperfixation to save ppl. Comparing him to Uatu who choose to doing nothing. Here we never had an interaction between them. I hate the fact they erased his "fragile and unconfident" side into the first season.
I find the final battle as a down grade to the first season. Technically and in storyboard side... they only used old Stepjen technic idea we already saw in the same way and with a "BUT Carter is stronger", in a total lazy way. I still can't believe Carter is stronger than him, She's a super soldier with a shield, he's an overpowerfull sorcerer, ridiculously overpowerfull. I wanted to see FOR ONCE IN MARVEL a figth not around "who's having the bigger one??". We already see how powerfull Stephen is into the first season and the fact they won against Ultron thanks to Carter's Leadership and intelligence. Why you don't use it here?? It's lazy at this point. I wanted a REAL scene where we saw than Peggy has more mental strength than Stephen. Here we have the exact same scene as s1 ep4 but in "Hahaha it's not working on me because... I'm me!" Please can you just leave this episode alone and admit Stephen is over powerfull but less intelligent than Carter? And than Carter doesn't have an unhealthy way to see her dead relationship with Steve. Here the end is still "BAWH!! Carter push Stephen into his own machina Hahahah!! Because... she has a shield and him overpowerfull magic power?"
I feel it into the whole season but the fact we've got 30min epidoe instead of 40min hurted a lot the show. And we totally miss 10min into this final episode to have EMOTIONS. The end of the episode wasn't a good idea, Stephen sacrifice himself to bring back his world but without him, it's perfect on paper but here... THEY ARE ZERO EMOTION??? The butterfly
could go on Christine's shoulder, we could have a sadder sountrack, something more subtile like Stephen still into reflexion of object around here, watching her but can't interact with this world. I don't know but something more than a dial to thanks Captain Carter like she saved the multivers ALONE. HELLO??? And Kahori?? Is she okay??? Where she is?? Maybe I miss something at the end... But the Carter attitude of not even being sad for his Friend Stephen... I hate it once again. And Uatu... UATU??? Stephen saved your life??? He's your friend too??? And... it's totally your fault if he turns evil again, you bring Nat into a new univers at the end of season 2 and you let Stephen alone?? And never interacted with him like you did with Carter??? Wtf Uatu at this point you're only a Carter fanboy ?? You deserve better too!!!!
They are a thousand of plot hole that I'm tired to see... the "magic armor", the bad guy who keep all the vilain/hero alive into the same place "I don't see what bad can happened?", the vilain suddenly becoming stupid and less powerfull for no reason. Like... you have the time stone from the beguining??? As I said before the "sidekick color character", the non respect of fan like... poor Killmonger's fan here. The no used fanservice. Like, it's cool to see cowboy Loki and ThorHulk... but they are no use here. The characters who suddenly all became Clowny Ironman style. Like Stephen made jokes and have a funny side into the first season but it's around Party Thor who has the power to bring fun around him, or when he's less confident to hide his insecurity here he's just... funny all the time for no reason. Same for Carter here. The five years old dial like Peggy having fun of Stephen's cape and him having fun of her British flag... guys what are you?? Children??
I'm so sad to only have Carter at the end and no mention to the guardian of the multivers here?? Like... imagine the drama of the whole team against their old friend! And the perfect way to show her more powerfull power is her leadership, not throwing shield to ppl head.
Yeah as a conclusion I totally can accept one or two mistake like this... but here it's only making out of the show, feeling nothing for the character. The total opposite of the first season. I totally understand WHY it's that bad. I feel they've got less money, less time, less freedom. Than disney were behind they're backs like "we need to sell Carter action model, nothing else." But it's easy to say it's only Disney fault. I personnally put the fault on the writers and director's shoulders. Pushing a Captain Carter without thinking "why" she is a good character. That's the biggest mystake of the second season.

NaNo day 13
where am i going with this it was meant to be tiny scene tiny scene maybe 4k in total for whole story
guess what. it was even supposed to be time loop for EACH of the three characters, but i feel like it's just gunna end with dfs now because wow this got long and wordy. but then again. nano. if i can't hit the word count, i cry.
He made his way downstairs without disturbing Fang Duobing, and gave Hulijing a pat to keep her quiet as she snuffled up next to him. He would have to call for Wuyan for information and for breakfast in a bit, but in the dawn hours with Lotus Tower parked firmly along the forest road leading up to the strange village surrounded by budding greenery, something twisted within his gut.
Li Lianhua was curled in bed facing the wall, blanket pulled halfway up his head in the chill of the morning air, hair unbound and trapped against his neck. Di Feisheng stared for a moment, although he didn’t know why, before he deliberately made a noise just loud enough to wake a trained swordsman.
Li Lianhua stirred, movements groggy and slow, and to Di Feisheng’s surprise, he only pulled the blankets up higher before moving to settle back to sleep, only the end of his fingertips showing from the cocoon of the blanket.
Di Feisheng kicked at the stool again, and this time Li Lianhua made a sighing noise and spoke from beneath the blankets, voice deepened with the dregs of sleep, “Go back to sleep, A-Fei. It’s too early for this.”
“I need to talk to you,” Di Feisheng insisted, although his voice was also quiet in deference to the early morning. His hands untensed knowing that Li Lianhua had known he was there all along, and had chosen to remain sleeping rather than— than what? Had Di Feisheng been interrupted from his sleep like this in his rooms at Jinyuan Alliance, he would have already held a sword to the throat of the offender, if they were lucky. If they weren’t, there would already be blood spilled.
“Mmm,” Li Lianhua intoned, and turned his head further into the blankets. “Later.”
Di Feisheng didn’t respond, although he also didn’t leave, staring at the bundle of blankets on the bed.
It didn’t take long before Li Lianhua pushed down his blanket irritably, turning over to glare back at him. “Are you just going to stay there the entire time?”
“Until you listen.” Di Feisheng confirmed.
“It’s unnerving.” Li Lianhua complained. “No one can sleep with you staring like that.”
“Then stay awake,” Di Feisheng challenged, even as Li Lianhua glared harder. “Get dressed. The day’s already started.”
“Are you going to stare for that as well?”
Di Feisheng was tempted, just to be contrary. But he would rather Li Lianhua be a better mood for the upcoming conversation, so he turned and left Lotus Tower, taking the time to wander far enough to summon Wuyan in his usual fashion to deal with the search for the Styx flower and with breakfast.
—
What Lotus Tower lacked, Di Feisheng realised, were walls that were sufficient for privacy purposes. He didn’t understand how Li Lianhua could stand to stay there during harsh winters when there were gaps that constantly needed to be filled or fixed in the tower, several parts more aesthetic than functional. Keeping out rain was bad enough, but sound travelled easily, and he could hear Fang Duobing’s stomping around upstairs when he got back, and there was no way to prevent the words from being overheard when Li Lianhua already opened a window and even had the wall of the back of the house open for the air and the view.
It was sufficient for one person, but three meant constantly tripping over each other.
He could see Fang Duobing lean over the railing of the room upstairs, mostly dressed but still looking bleary as he called out, “Have you seen my boots? Are they down there?”
“No,” Li Lianhua answered, voice only the slightest bit muffled despite not being seen. He wasn’t even speaking loudly. “Why would they be down here? Check under the bed, Xiaobao.”
Fang Duobing disappeared back behind the curtains of the upstairs room, and called out moments later, “Found them!”
Shaking his head, Di Feisheng entered Lotus Tower again.
Li Lianhua was fully dressed and prepared for the day, folding the blankets on the bed and smoothing out the creases in the linens diligently. Di Feisheng took a seat at the bench, and said, “Yesterday, we went fishing and you lost a hairpin in the water.”
Li Lianhua paused in his movements, brows creased. “...Yesterday, we stayed in because it was raining and both you and Xiaobao nearly wrecked my home fighting. Lao Di, what are you on?”
“Yesterday, I told you I have been living the same day over and over, and you thought I ate something off, or that I had a strange dream. I asked you to tell me something that I shouldn’t know, so that I can convince you of my words today.”
“Lao Di,” Li Lianhua said slowly. “You were definitely dreaming.”
“Yesterday,” Di Feisheng pressed yet again, “you spoke of once wanting to be a weaponsmith, before giving up on the idea because you lacked talent.”
Here, Li Lianhua looked perturbed, motion stilling.
“Li Lianhua,” Di Feisheng addressed him. “This day has been repeating for me for a while now. I live through the day, but when I sleep, I wake to find that it is today all over again. The same morning no matter the weather the night before, the same place no matter where I fell asleep before, the same me no matter if I was wounded the day before. No one remembers living through the day before, and nothing that will happen today has happened yet.”
“An odd statement.” Li Lianhua’s expression was still composed, but his tone was more bewildered.
“We have investigated the village several times,” Di Feisheng told him. “They attempt to poison us three times on average, and trap us at least once this day. We have left this area to travel in all directions, and had uneventful days that only led back to today once more. You always go along with what I say, but have yet to fully believe me.”
“That’s… a strange story,” Li Lianhua said, and Di Feisheng thinned his lips in frustration. “I’ve never heard of such a thing happening before.”
That was a terrifying thought— that perhaps this had happened to others before, but no one ever heard of it because they continued to live the same day over and over and never made it to the next day where the information might spread.
Di Feisheng refused to believe that.
“Help me figure this out.” He said, although the words were gritted. “Or if you still don’t believe me, tell me a way I can make you believe me.”
By now, Fang Duobing had made his way downstairs as well, his footsteps light as he came in the door, confusion evident on his face. Lotus Tower really did not allow for private conversations.
“Repeat?” Fang Duobing asked, “Lao Di, what do you mean?”
Exactly what he had said, although he understood Fang Duobing’s confusion. Rather, Di Feisheng focused on Li Lianhua, knowing that even Fang Duobing’s response this time around was different and it was because Li Lianhua wasn’t brushing the statements aside as easily this time around.
There was a tense moment of silence before Li Lianhua resumed folding the blankets, putting them away before coming to sit next to Di Feisheng on the bench, eyes narrowed in thought.
“Alright,” he said. “Suppose what you said is true. Tell me everything that happened.”
—
Li Lianhua said, there must be something in the village that triggered this the first time around.
Li Lianhua said, there is a way to convince him this was the truth in the mornings.
Fang Duobing sat opposite them, listening intently the entire time even as Wuyan came by to drop off breakfast, staying a few moments longer to give Hulijing a jerky treat and a scritch behind the ears. The pan-fried meat buns cooled as their conversation continued, marking out details and what could be said and done.
“Tell me how to convince you again if today doesn’t work out,” Di Feisheng told the both of them.
“Whatever I tell you, it won’t guarantee anything,” Li Lianhua told him. “We should focus on finding what happened to you in the village.”
Fang Duobing, on the other hand, just shook his head. “It won’t hurt to tell him something. Just in case we don’t find out what happened today.” He looked rather perturbed. “What happens to us, then? If you get sent back to the morning? If we don’t get sent back, then… are you just missing, if we get to the next day? Or do we not exist at all?”
“Try not to think of that yet,” Li Lianhua told him.
“Tell me something to convince you if today repeats again,” Di Feisheng urged Fang Duobing. “Before, you asked me to predict fortune sticks. I can still do that, but something to convince you immediately would be most efficient.”
“You can predict fortune sticks?” Fang Duobing gaped, and then his gaze turned devious. “What about gambling in town—”
“Don’t,” Li Lianhua interjected quickly. “Pick up bad habits.”
Fang Duobing looked properly admonished, pulling back with a nervous laugh.
“But Xiaobao had a point with the fortune sticks,” Li Lianhua admitted. “If you could predict, say, something yet to happen, it would be more convincing than words we may have shared.”
“What did you have in mind?”
—
“Circumstances change from moment to moment,” Li Lianhua said as they set up to grind ink on the plate. “Different movements or time of day would trigger different responses. If I asked you to think of a bird right now, your answer may be different than if I asked you to think of a bird the moment you wake up, merely because you heard a songbird as you woke, or because you just ate something that reminded you of another bird. If I asked for the first colour that comes to mind while we’re in the forest, you may think green, but in here you may think brown. Questions can’t be nebulous like that, but rather grounded in something solid that is unlikely to change.”
“Too confusing,” Di Feisheng dismissed. “Tell me what I should ask.”
“Take the fortune sticks for example,” Li Lianhua ignored him. “A person could throw them twice in a row and get different results. Will likely get different results. Even if the day repeats for you, the results may be different. So it will have to be something you can predict, but we cannot.”
“Then how are you sure you could convince me with fortune sticks?” Fang Duobing asked Di Feisheng suspiciously.
“Li Lianhua cheated.” Di Feisheng revealed shamelessly. “The results would always be the same.”
Fang Duobing turned his suspicious stare at Li Lianhua, although this time with a twinge of wide-eyed betrayal as well.
Li Lianhua waved a finger, “You didn’t know that, and he shouldn’t have known that either. That makes it an accurate prediction.”
“That makes it cheating,” Fang Duobing grumbled.
“Ahh, but he’s not the one doing it, is he?” Li Lianhua placated him, and then turned his attention to Di Feisheng. “Is there anything special that happens through the day not to do with us that you can predict? A tree falling in the forest, a disturbance outside?”
Di Feisheng thought about it for a long while, and shook his head slowly. “Outside of what happens in the village, different events occur each time. The day is calm.”
Li Lianhua rubbed his fingers together and furrowed his brow in thought.
“Then you’ll have to create those events.”
Di Feisheng raised an eyebrow. “Then I cause it instead and you will not believe me.”
“Not necessarily,” Li Lianhua said. “Say, if you send Xiaobao hunting first thing in the morning, then you can tell me what he comes back with before he gets back. But it will have to be first thing in the morning, before you can influence his actions to change the results.”
Fang Duobing looked between them and then shook his head, mouth in a determined moue. “I refuse to go hunting before the sun is up. I won’t do it.”
“It’s just an example.” Li Lianhua reassured him.
“...It could work,” Di Feisheng admitted with a smirk as Fang Duobing crossed his arms.
“The point is,” Li Lianhua interrupted their to-be spat, “that if the day is repeating exactly the same, then you are the only thing changing it. Whatever you don’t change remains the same. Unless, of course, this isn’t truly a repeat of the day, but rather something to make you think it is.”
“Inconsequential.” Di Feisheng dismissed.
“Of course, that’s just to prove yourself in case we don’t believe you.” Li Lianhua frowned, hands pausing on grinding the inkstone. “So long as you give sufficient information, you may not need to prove yourself.”
“Tell me something, then,” Di Feisheng said once more. “That you’ve never said aloud before.”
Li Lianhua set down the inkstone, and Fang Duobing reached to pull the plate away. “Something I’ve never said aloud? There’s usually a reason for that.”
“Something that can’t be used against you.” He thought for a moment. “How did you get your dog?”
“Hulijing?”
At the mention of her name, Hulijing perks up her head from where she was lying in a patch of sunlight, tail wagging slowly.
“She followed me home one day. Not unlike you two.”
“And you just let it stay?” Di Feisheng questioned.
“I was still building Lotus Tower then,” Li Lianhua elaborated, reaching for one of the cold buns. “It was at one of the coastal towns. Back then, I had… more health issues. The townspeople were not unkind, but they didn’t like outsiders. I kept mostly to myself, but there was once…” he trailed off, lost in thought, and Hulijing stood from the patch of sunlight and yawned before padding on soft paws over to Li Lianhua, setting her head on his knee. He smoothed a hand against her fur absentmindedly, offering her the bun. “I didn’t account for how sick I was. I couldn’t make it back by myself, so I just sat in an alleyway for a while to catch my breath. She found me and stayed with me the entire time, and then came with me when I finally went home again. Then she never really left.”
“No one helped you back?” Fang Duobing sounded heartbroken.
Li Lianhua reached to pat his hand. “I was ill, and an outsider. It was kind enough of them not to throw me out. For all they knew, my illness could be contagious. Besides, Hulijing helped me back.”

There it is again! 😏😏😏
Tumblr media
“You ready to go doll face?”
“Be right out Buck!” you shout, not realizing he’s standing in the doorway of the bathroom.
His large hand reaches out and to fix the fallen strap of your dress, his touch soft as he lifts it back onto your shoulder and kisses the spot.
“Thanks,” you murmur.
“You look gorgeous doll,” he whispers.
You step away from the sink and into his embrace, smoothing your hands along his arms, the material of his suit jacket pulled tight around his biceps. Your fingertips move to his chest and dance along the buttons.
“Are you sure this shirt fits?” you smirk as you lower your lashes and slip your fingers between the gap of two buttons.
He chuckles and slides his hands under your dress to cup your ass.
“Fits well enough,” he simpers.
“Mm hm” you hum as you caress his warm skin.
“What have you got on under here doll?” he asks. “Is it new?”
“Maybe” you shrug demurely, sliding out of his grasp. “Guess you’ll have to wait and see.”
His eyes darken and you hear a low growl rumble through his chest. With a sugary smile you brush past him and out into the bedroom.
“Come on Buck or we’ll be late,” you call over your shoulder.
Strong arms wrap around your waist and he pulls you against his chest, pushing his hips and hard cock into your back.
“You’re such a tease baby doll,” he croons, dipping his head and kissing your neck.
You giggle without disputing his words and rest your hands over his. Your fingers ghost over the black hair tie around his wrist and you pause.
“What’s this for?” you ask, turning in his arms. “I thought you promised to leave your hair down tonight. I love it like this.”
Your small pout has him kissing your lips.
“Don’t worry I’ll leave it down…,” he whispers against your mouth. “For now.”
“For now?” you sass as your fingers comb through the soft locks. “What about later?”
“Later,” he whispers, backing you up toward the wall. “I’m going to drag you into the bathroom…or coat closet…or wherever I please, get my hair out of the way,” he adds with a wink, “and bend you over so I can get my mouth on my favorite dessert.”
His right hand dips between your legs, rubbing along the wet fabric of your panties and he drags his teeth over his bottom lip as his eyelashes flutter to kiss his cheeks.
Your lips part with your breathless gasp but before you can say a word he covers your mouth with his metal hand and leans in close, his fingers still teasing as he whispers along the shell of your ear, “now let’s go doll face. I don’t wanna be late for my meal.”

Wip Wednesday: Status Rapport
This week, I figured I'd use this slot to talk a little about where I'm at in the project that is The Clockwork Boy. The reason for this is twofold. For one, I'm nearing what I think is a very important threshold in the process and I'm excited to talk about that. For the other this week has been a Bad Brain Week so I haven't been able to come up with anything else to write.
So where am I at with The Clockwork Boy? Put plainly, I'm pretty close to done. Well, done might be an overstatement as I don't plan to consider the thing truly done until I hold a printed copy in my hands, but I'm rapidly approaching the "as done with it as I can get by my lonesome" point. Rewriting has gone slower than I had hoped for several reasons, chiefly some migraine problems that have been keeping me down lately.
Despite being a mite off schedule for this bit, though, I will say I am very happy with the work I've done. In addition to fixing messy grammar and some go-nowhere dialog, I have almost entirely rewritten some scenes that went from being aimless and kind of disposable to some of my favorite moments in the book. I still feel the mild to moderate distress that is recognizing my own writing, and I suspect I will do that as long as I still write, but I've come to the point that I realize it's a better version of the same. It's a start, at least.
Next up, I plan to do something about the "by myself" part of the equation by roping in some fools recruiting someone whose abilities and tastes I trust for a beta read. This is pretty scary to me, but I fully recognize that it is a necessary step in the process. For the duration of the rewrite I've felt like I'm missing something, but considering this darn thing has lived in my head for nigh on a year now, I can't be sure if that's a healthy hunch or just anxiety giving me the business. So, I hope some fresh eyes on the whole thing will help me either sate or quiet that voice.
After getting the beta reads back and doing any changes I feel it needs after that, the next step is, unfortunately, starting to query publishers and/or agents. I'm not looking forward to this bit, but considering how I do want the book actually published and don't feel capable of doing all that indie publishing requires of me, there's just no way around it.
I expect the whole query business will take some time, so I haven't planned much past that point. I plan on doing NaNoWriMo this year, and although I am considering starting work on the first Hearts In Clockwork sequel right away, I recognize that I need a bit of a break right now. Most people would, perhaps, not take a writing break that consists of getting lost in the sauce of another month-long writing sprint, but I rather like doing just that, so do that I shall.
I'm not sure which of my potential projects I'm going to do for NaNo this year, but I am considering one of my horror pitches, possibly The Artists or a hitherto untitled one dealing with a Norse variant of the living dead, the Draugr. Either way, I'm going to write a draft that is probably way too long and entirely too indulgent, and odds are good I'll have a blast.
So, not the most exciting WIP update from ol' Peebs today, but some days one just needs to be one's own project manager and talk dates and estimates and what have you. In the process of writing this, late enough that it felt weird to discard this in favor of it, of course, I came up with an interesting idea for next week's WIP Wednesday, so look forward to that.

NaNoWriMo is officially over, but I'm not done!
Tumblr media
In the month of November, I managed to write 102,179 words for Purely Symbiotic. This is 204.36% of the 50K goal NaNo sets out!
Tumblr media
I'm so proud of this progress. It looks like that November 20th and 21st were my biggest writing days. 16,685 words over two days!
Tumblr media
I also hit all of those writing badges which was very satisfying to do. Updating 1,667 words a day is not easy when you work better in spurts instead of consistency.
Tumblr media
The personal achievement badges were fun too. Fun fact, I cried twice over my novel, and they both consisted of gender moments!
So.......... what now?
We still are aiming for 240K words and 80 chapters, dividing into three 80K, 20 chapter parts. Right now, I'm in the depths of part 2. I've also started a new goal on the NaNoWriMo website.
Tumblr media
The novel will *tentatively* be done by the end of January. If it takes me about 1 month to write 100K words, then it will be done sometime in mid-January. To avoid burnout and to give some leniency for myself, I just rounded up to January 31st. From there, February will be all reviewing and editing, and then finally.... FINALLY we will be posting to A03!
Why not post part 1 now?
The answer is that I'm a perfectionist, and I love foreshadowing. Just recently I found a quite big plot hole in the middle of writing part 2 and had to go back and fix some sections in part 1. I would not have been able to do this if part 1 was already uploaded. I can't imagine this not happening when I reach part 3, ESPECIALLY since I'm at the point where I no longer have a draft to reference because I'm so far into the story. Additionally, there are some heavy editing and proofreading needed. I might post snippets to gauge interest and get people excited for the drop date once we get closer to the end. I've even been thinking about making a video trailer too because... why not? It be fun. :)

I forgot that Star Fox was a thing until today and in some weird stupor I wrote a 1.4k word fic surrounding the first skirmish between SF and SW heavily influenced by @rainboopz 's Krystal is Kursed AU
This is a totally self-indulgent hurt/comfort fanfic and I won't apologize for it because I didn't realize how weird star fox command gets and I need to fix it before I explode
Krystal couldn't believe it. Her ship's HUD blared all kinds of damage reports in her face. With no choice, she wrenched the stick and turned away from the battle. She flew back in tatters.
"Days... Weeks... Months of training and flight hours and I still can't down him," Krystal whispered to herself, gripping the joystick so hard she swore she heard it creak.
She used every trick in the book and more. Even when she pulled out all the aces she had up her sleeve, she was countered at every turn. She held up against the rest of Star Fox just fine on her own, but their leader was different. It was cold. It was surgical. For someone who only knew her previous captain as a squadmate, this was the harsh reminder:
Fox McCloud was the deadliest pilot in the Lylat System.
Was he holding out on me?! Did I get weaker? Did he get stronger? How...?
Krystal slammed the canopy with her fist through tears of frustration. As if on cue, Wolf's face showed up in a small monitor. From the red glow on his face, it was clear that his ship was also no longer combat effective. A bit behind, her other squadmates were returning from battle, not faring any better.
"Well, Princess? How does it feel?"
Krystal quickly wiped tears of frustration from her face, too scared to say anything in fear that a sob would come out. Losing wasn't new for her, but this loss had so much more at stake. She glared at the screen without saying a word.
"It fucking sucks," Krystal choked out bitterly, not seeming to care that the entirety of Star Wolf was now fixated on her response. Eavesdropping, Panther begrudgingly smiled, Leon huffed and twisted his face into a frown. She was only a part of the team in name, but this was their unofficial induction ceremony.
Wolf grinned, knowing the exact feeling. He saw it reflected all over Krystal's face.
"Welcome to Star Wolf."
--
During the Lylat Wars, the Arwing was considered a next generation fighter. It was so above and beyond the competition that it boasted a higher kill count than the entirety of the Cornerian Militaty during the war. Even after the Arwing was reverse engineered by the Venomians, even after battles against the supernatural, and even after another war against the Aparoid invasion, the Arwing towered above the rest.
The gap, however, has decreased over time. The Arwing was a successful proof of concept, and everybody in Lylat wanted it. Its newest G-Diffuser system was now commonplace around the most basic cargo haulers. Its nano laminate armor was on all commercial shuttles. Gimble cannons were spacecraft standard issue. Even the Wolfens had all of this and more.
The only edge above the competition was the pilot. The Arwing boasted a 99.9% survival rate, with the near perfect record broken by none other than James McCloud. The reason why Star Fox is where they are is because their trusty spacecraft kept them alive and forced them to learn from their mistakes. Given their track record, Star Fox has learned everything and more when it comes to ship to ship combat.
None of that experience didn't make it any less awkward when Fox met his ex for the first time months and immediately shot her down.
Battles between ace pilots were always one or the other: decisive or extremely drawn out. When the first blasters were fired, from Krystal nonetheless, all moments of hesitation flew out the window. Further chatter included the usual battle call outs and insults, but it was over almost as soon as it started.
Fox peered over the side of the canopy. He watched as four Wolfens flew away from them, heading away from the now-empty battlefield.
"... All ships, turn to solar bearing 0-3-0. Return to base."
"Copy that." "Roger."
Damages were almost a guarantee when facing off against Star Wolf, but it's been a while since Slippy and Falco danced on a razor's edge in a dogfight. Landing on the Great Fox wasn't this tense since wartime.
"Damn. She got me good," Falco scoffed, a bitter sense of pride in his former teammate-turned-enemy. When he left his cockpit, He ran his hand along scorch marks on the main fuselage, scoring near critical hits to the space frame.
"Yeah, no kidding! It's going to take a week to get all of our ships in working order," Slippy sighed as he scratched underneath his cap. His Arwing was in worse condition with a wing tip blown off and a hole where one of its cannons used to be.
Wordlessly, Fox stumbled out of his cockpit and headed immediately to the Great Fox's mess hall. Slippy and Falco's gazes followed him until the doors were closed, and they exchanged a wordless look of concern over their captain, then peered at the last remaining starcraft.
Fox's Arwing was practically spotless minus a single scorch mark over the Star Fox insignia.
--
Following Peppy's retirement and the reduction of the squadron, it meant that Fox had to be on top of his game in every level. Thousands of hours were logged in the simulator, mock battles were held weekly between his squad mates, and he even learned basic engineering from Slippy. Star Fox no longer held the technological edge, and with the increasing pressure from fulfilling new roles and staying relevant in the Mercenary world, it was no surprise that Fox was at his wit's end.
He slumped forward on his chair, watching as the ice melted in his glass of bourbon.
"Hey Slip." He murmured, catching Slippy off guard as he tried to tiptoe around his moping boss. Slippy looked around for Falco, but realized he probably hit the showers (or whatever else the birdbrain was up to). He wasn't too experienced with relationships, so he let Falco do all the talking with anything to do with Krystal. After seeing the rough shape his captain was in, maybe it was time for a lighter touch.
"Heyyy," Slippy said slowly as he sat down next to Fox. His captain's eyes were sunken, his hair was a mess, and once he looked close enough, his inner shirt was inside out. It didn't take a genius to realize that even after all this time, he wasn't quite over her.
"What's up, Fox?"
"Slippy, am I a bad person?"
Slippy's physically recoiled from the question. He may not be the most sociable person around, but he even knew that this was one of the questions that you just don't ask your friends. Still...
"Are we talking legally or morally?" Slippy laughed. Fox returned with a look that would rival the unsettling gaze of a dead fish's eyeballs.
"Oh God."
"Let's talk about something else!" Slippy forced a laugh and pat his hands on the table, stepping yet into another conversation taboo, this time between Mercenaries. But when Fox saw that Slippy was trying to avoid the subject, he sighed.
"I'm sorry. Everything is just... A lot." Fox took a small sip, his face scrunching a little. Alcohol wasn't something he usually partook in, which made his attempt at calming down all the more pathetic.
"Everything including... everything and Krystal?"
Slippy took Fox's flinch as a physical "yes."
"Did I make the right call?"
Slippy took a moment to look at his friend and didn't see his captain, he saw a friend who needed help. He threw rank and hierarchy out the window. This conversation was friend-to-friend now, and he leaned in.
"Look, Fox. I know that you did what you think was right, and... Uh, I don't know. Most of the breakups I see on holo-tv have people not liking each other over time. But, like, it seems like you had too much responsibility to give her any attention she needed and that caused a breakup neither of you wanted."
"That is... Spot on, yeah," Fox sighed at the astute observation. He swirled his drink, this time more alive at the simple act of being heard out and validated.
"Not having Peppy is a lot harder than I thought. He always has an answer for everything."
Slippy smiled at the sound of his friend's name.
"Hey, how about we wash ourselves up, give Peppy a call, and we make ourselves proper drinks? How's that sound?"
"Sounds good, Slip." Fox smiled. Slippy returned the smile, sure in himself that he defused the delicate situation.
"Yo, is your ex a crack shot, or what?" Falco chimed in from behind, coming back from a quick rinse donning shorts and a plain white T-shirt. Slippy glared at him, worried that all the work just went down the drain, but Fox gave him a nonchalant shrug and downed the rest of his drink.
"Yeah. She sure is."

Hi, I've been meaning to do this for several months, executive dysfunction got the better of me, and it's 1 in the morning (or, it was, but then I fell asleep while writing this, but 95% of it was written at 1 in the morning), but, hi, hello, your friendly neighborhood [insert adequate descriptor here, I'm too tired to come up with anything right now]!
I have not posted anything original on this blog for. uh. months. my best guess running at actual long form not fulfilling a tag game thing is november. of 2022 (I can't check I'm on mobile). which is much time ago! (the last tag game fulfilling writing posting was in like may) hi, I'm not dead and I haven't stopped writing forever, I just had one fucking hell of a year for mental health and school and moving up schools
but! it's summer now, I'm some twenty ish days into break, and I suddenly have spoons again. wow. I forgot what that feels like. I've done So Many Things recently it's insane, anyway--
I have been writing things! I'm doing an impromptu (as in started it on July 13th) camp nano challenge of typing up 3000 words of the massive amount of Enna's prequel I handwrote in a notebook at varying distressingly late hours of the night. I am actually decently close to done with that, I got a shitload done the other day, that's to say:
this lovely little blog of mine has been unintentionally mostly dormant for a while now, but it has been woken up and there will be things here again! tomorrow, even! (or today. timezones.)
lots of things have changed, in the stories, I have finally figured out a MASSIVE AND HELLISH plot hole in Enna's prequel story, and it's all figured out now, and I'm so fucking happy it's awesome can my brain feel like this all the time please the serotonin is excellent, but fixing that plot hole means that I need to redo so much lore and and backstories now it's ridiculous
to everyone who's sent me asks and tagged me in games and etc in the last few months/year. I'm sorry. I'll do most (hopefully almost all) of them. (Sleepy especially, I'm sorry, I'm not really sure if that means anything to you I probably sound like a broken record but I do mean it genuinely, I'm sorry, I will answer all of the ones you've sent me)

My Year in Writing, 2023
And this is another situation where I wish I could pull up last year's post to use as a pattern, but I can't because my writing blog got deleted, so I'm feeling a little lost.
But I can at least see the graphs I made last year in my writing progress tracking spreadsheet, so that give me a bit of a hint as to what I would normally post here.
I wrote 183,465 words on 2023. It's my third year in a row of increases (thank you, Julie and the Phantoms!) and my first year over 150k, which was my goal for the year. I'm at 856,124 words since 2017.
Tumblr media
I'm also super excited about winning NaNo for the first time since 2017. November was my most productive month, followed by February, when I spent most of the month working on Baby, This Rain Changes Everything, which I guess I was just excited about because I had a lot of 1k+ days.
Part of the 44k increase from 2022-2023 was due to NaNo, but I also increased my average daily word count for non-NaNo months from 291.8 to 387.5. And I do write every day--December 31 was day 2,395 of my write-ever-day streak.
Tumblr media
What I Wrote
Other than 2% of my words for the year for Garfield, a Teen Wolf Movie fix-it fic, everything else was for Julie and the Phantoms: 81% on various scenes for Electric Boogaloo, 12% for Baby, This Rain Changes Everything, and 5% on two different AU fics that I may convert to original fiction instead.
Tumblr media
Plans for 2024
So, the saying goes something like, "Write a million words, throw them away, now you're ready to be a writer." I didn't realize it until I was writing this up, but I'm going to hit a million words next year.
And I have to admit, in the last few months, I've started to think about writing and publishing original fiction. And that's partly because the JatP fandom is dying--I'd think the drop in kudos was because I suck, but I've seen declining kudos for new fic by big name fans, too, so it's not just me. No judgement on the fandom, it's just the nature of things. I've left a couple of fandoms myself because of a new hyperfixation. But at the same time, I had this AU idea in the spring, and thought to myself, are you really going to write a whole novel-length fic for 20 kudos?
I think I'd rather earn a couple hundred bucks instead, which seems like about what I would net if I self-pub. And I'm poor, so any little bit helps. Plus, I don't know, I just feel ready. It's partly because I read some pretty bad books this year, and it's like, OK, this got published, and in one case it got optioned and made into a TV show, and I feel like I can do better.
So, my plan for 2024 is:
Write the last ~9 scenes for Electric Boogaloo.
Write season 3, AKA the Electric Boogaloo sequel. Boogaloo is probably going to reach somewhere around 300k total, but I'm aiming for something more like 150k-200k for the sequel.
Finish the two Arrow fics I still can't give up on, even though I haven't worked on them in years. One just needs another 2k, and the other maybe 15k.
Transition to original fiction, taking the idea I had for a JatP boy band AU and "filing off the serial numbers" as I go. (Or something else--who knows what I'll be most interested next fall!)
In terms of word count goals:
I want to hit 50,000 for NaNo in November. For April and July Camp NaNos, I want to write 1,000 a day, so 30k and 31k.
I want to take it somewhat easy in the three months after NaNo events, so May, August, and December - 600/day, or 18,600 words/month.
For the other six months out of the year, I'm going to try doing "NaNoWriWeek" or 1,667 words/day for the first week of the month and then 600/day for the rest of the month, which will get me around 25k per month.
All of this totals up to about 300,000 words.

The NaNo Report: Day Twenty-Nine and Thirty
So yesterday I didn't get any words as I had to come up with an idea for Episode 4. I needed to know what I was writing before I could write, and like Episode 3 before it, it took all day to wrangle an idea into enough form to move forward.
Which left just today to get the last 3k to win.
Tumblr media
So I did win. And by win I mean I hit the 50k.
When I won it told me it was my 10th NaNo win and I didn't think that was correct. I mean I've been taking part on/off since 2007 so it was definitely possible but I knew I'd failed quite a few times, and so ten? But I just went through and it's right. I got the 50k in 08, 09, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16 (quite a run there), 2020, 2022 and then finally this year 2023.
But did I win really?
What I wanted more than anything this month was to rediscover my love of writing and from that perspective it was an epic failure. I didn't hate every single minute of it. I do love the idea, and coming up with the various episode plots was alternately frustrating but then satisfying (as idea generation is apt to be). But the actual writing just did not flow well. I felt like every word was shit. I know the old "can't fix a blank page" but it's demoralising to not feel any kind of rush. To just be like drek. I didn't capture the spirit I wanted at all.
Anyway what I ended up with is the first three episodes of a serial drafted, with the first three scenes of Episode 4 also drafted and part of an outline for the rest of the episode. I have character notes, some notes on the general arc of the season and what the villain wants etc. but that's about it. So basically it's a start and as always there's a long way to go.
I did like attempting to write the serial. I definitely fell down mechanically in a few places as it was hard to capture on paper what I was imagining - as if a novel = a movie, then this is like watching TV episodes in my head. Now obviously TV can do cool things like have characters on the phone and flash back and forth between them. I am unsure if it's even remotely possible to do that on paper. It was fun coming up with the various episode plots and I think it has the seeds of something. I'm not sure I have the skill to pull it off but maybe one day I'll get there.
Words today: 3,257
Final NaNo total: 50,455

I’m late but what is nikos relationship with Mona? I’m curious about them!
wow im so sorry anon this is a DOOZY
so tldr; childhood friends reunited during chaotic times turned lovers (?) and now exes stuck with each other in the middle of space 💀
tldr for X-3996; its a very frigid planet kinda like tundra/taiga/steppe-ish like environments. It has been colonized by humans/many other species over time and is used by this huge company to fuel the richer, more inner rim planets.
niko and mona ... they met as children probably around the ages of 6/7 at what basic education they were getting on X-3396. The governing group/company (named ARCTIS rn) doesnt give a shit about their mine workers/their families so bare minimum EVERYTHING but anyways the local kids pretty much formed little groups and niko's ended up being him, his younger brother sascha, mona, miloš and his twin sister danička. they were as thick as thieves and would run around town causing chaos to the annoyance of the local adults AWUHFAWG stealing poffkas from the baker, jumping around on the roofs of homes, and running into the woods to play hide and seek and shit like that. niko would never realize or admit it but for a while he had something like a crush on mona :,)))
this was around him being 10-11 years old (mona being 9-10 i think) but one day she goes missing and he has no way of finding out why or where she went. mona was orphaned at a young age and didnt have any family so theres no way of finding her that way yknow. years go by with nothing and life continues on, getting shittier for most. niko loses his father in the mines and his brother as well... iykyk... thats for another day.
(side note... a bit after his father's death, niko gets an apprenticeship with a the town's engineer/smith and he does this along with working in the mines 🥲 this is important to some of this i promise)
short of the long is the people revolt (started pretty much by niko himself) and a full on war begins on X-3996 (niko is 16). a year or two into it after a near death experience for niko, mona stumbles upon him and helps to fix him up (cough cough alter him with nano tech). turns out she had been taken to ARCTIS' on-planet institute and was being taught all this shit with science and medicine. after this they continue to work against ARCTIS and with the revolution and their relationship develops as this goes on as well. niko's first love is back in his arms but in a lot of danger because of him so it's a little wild in that sense :(
this together-but-not relationship goes on for ~3 more years (niko is 20 mona is 19). around this time is when they are finally captured/arrested by ARCTIS and thus begins the fall. due to their above average skills in engineering and medicine respectively ARCTIS can't just get rid of them, so they opt to... "recondition" and control them so they can be used to work. this involved mona being forced to insert certain technology in niko to inhibit/dampen his will/emotions and this pretty much tanks what they had together 🥲 mona now has to stay around niko to maintain this tech and he just remains a husk of him former self, working away on ARCTIS' ships as engine and reactor maintenance
also its been like 5-6 years from the mindfuck from ARCTIS to present timeline niko WAAAAAAA (20-26 age wise)
MORE SHITTY PICS YEAHH WOOOOO
teen miloš, niko, and mona:

five days' worth of NaNo in and I am.... questioning everything. what the hell am I writing? i can't wait until I'm done with NaNo so that I can fix the fucking fuck out of this. there is no way I am subjecting anyone to what the fuck I'm vomiting all over this gdoc right now.
but it's fine, it's all fine. the point of NaNo is get the words out no matter what. I just wish my brain wasn't so fucking ADHD about it because I waste more time wrangling my thoughts into a coherent string than writing them down. fuck.

Okay, so this just feels not very fair. I was finishing up my N7 Day Andromeda vid and just needed to capture a couple more scenes. But even though the recording seemed to start as usual, there was just nothing there when it was done. Then I realized that the Game Bar itself wouldn't actually even load. None of the fixes for that have, you know, fixed it. (The Game Bar was working as of Nov 2 because that's the last day I have any captures recorded.)
Digging around, I discovered that my computer is throwing errors left and right but just managing to correct from them and not crashing. Rather, not crashing yet. Clearly something is STILL wrong, despite having acted normal in the month since it was Blue Screening like mad before I reinstalled Windows.
But. Here's the kicker. My dad's computer started Blue Screening right after I got mine working again. The difference, though, is that it's very difficult to get his to restart. If I can get it to come on once more, I'm going to try to completely reinstall its Windows but I don't honestly know if it's going to be able to or not. This thing is pretty fried and, of course, is *just* past its warranty. 😣
I was already assuming we're going to have to replace his computer but now mine, which is much older, is starting to circle the ol' drain. He told me tonight to focus on replacing mine and not to worry about his. He's been able to pretty much do the stuff he likes to do on the computer via our tv's Fire Stick so he said he's not missing out on anything. But still. I'll feel awful if he gets bumped back because of me since he's already not had a reliable computer for the past 3 weeks.
That said, in my 20 some years of having computers, I've never before had BOTH of them in danger of being bricked at the same time. This just sucks so much! I just want to be able to make my silly little videos and to try to get my WIPs done with NaNo. I was actually doing pretty good juggling both up until now.
Ah well. I'm just venting, sorry. I may be gone again, depending on how things go. However, I did schedule my Andromeda video to post on Youtube on November 7 whether I'm able to get here or not. Will post it here and on my AO3 when I can. Even though it's not completely the vision I had for it, I still like how it turned out. Surprisingly, it's not a shipper vid this time. And probably nobody thought I could MAKE a character study that didn't have even a hint of shippiness, right? 🤷‍♀️😉
*sigh* I'm trying not to let this get me down but dang if I'm not just tired of pretending I have any idea how to fix all of these issues. I can't find any place decent to take them for repairs that doesn't want a ton of money just to reinstall Windows and since I can do that, I don't want to pay somebody else for something I can do for free, you know? But I'm getting to the point where I think they've either got some sort of hardware issues that just reinstalling can't fix or I'm just borking up the reinstall somehow. I don't know. I'm so, so, so tired of it.
Love you, friends. Hope you're doing well and that I'll see you again soon. 💖

🪸Purrling Reef Has (One) Coral!🪸
It's been a while since I updated you guys on the progress of my 13.5 gallon nano reef tank, Purrling Reef. Arguably you guys probably would have preferred me using this time to work on Rise Up but this was somehow nagging me more I guess. 😅
Last Tuesday on the drive back from visiting my brother K and sister-in-law E on Vancouver Island I picked up my very first corals! Yes, plural; I bought a purple and turquoise ('green') favia (likely actually favites due to taxonomy changes,) and a rasta colour morph zoanthid.
Unfortunately, I wasn't quite aware at that point that I had set up my automatic topoff (ATO) system incorrectly. For the entire life of my aquarium I had been confused at how it kept seeming to suck water out of my aquarium, which I worried was diluting its salinity.
It was.
This of course seemed to come to a head - along with some stunning lack of preparedness on my part - when I introduced the poor corals and it shamefully took me days to get my salinity from the horrible 1.018 that it was back up to 1.025 that it was suppposed to be. This past Friday I at last figured out that I needed to competely redo my ATO's hose configuration and finally, finally I had it installed correctly. No longer did the ATO's tubing have any access to my aquarium water either; at long last it could no longer remove water from my aquarium!

I made handy use of the water-side hole in my light's mounting bracket for holding the ATO's tube in place. The gunk on its interior is algae.
ATO finally fixed - and just in time for cooler fall temperatures which meant I no longer even really needed to use the damned thing, I was at last able to fix that critical salinity, yet my favia coral still appeared to be unfortunately dying.

The favia's heartbreakingly tragic progress from a beautiful vibrant coral of my dreams to just another piece of reef rock. I plan on trying again with it next spring when I may be able to source another piece of the same morph from the Lower Mainland shop that I got it from. All isn't completely lost though; while the antiparasitic dip that I treated the corals with upon their arrival almost certainly killed the vermetid snail living on the favia frag's underside, there was something else there too, which due to its biology may be okay - a mussel!
Tumblr media
I have no idea if the mussel still lives but if it does that'd be pretty wicked honestly!
Meanwhile, I dosed the reef with calcium and magnesium; the next day, yesterday, the zoanthid coral finally opened up two of its polyps!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I believe that I may have lost one of its three polyps to my incompetence but I still have two living - if I suspect immature - polyps! I haven't secured the zoa frag in its spot yet but as I am currently kinda scared of touching the thing I think that I will give it a week or so to get acclimated before bothering it to aquarium epoxy it in place. (Most people use super glue but I don't have any at the moment. The epoxy will work too, it's just uglier.)
And yeah, the zoanthid polyps don't look like much right now, but this is what they will look like someday!

(Photo from Tidal Gardens, whose wonderful coral species spotlights on Youtube are my bible when it comes to species research. Plus the host/owner Than's voice is really soothing and ASMR-like!)
Through this whole snafu with my water chemistry - which I am still working on improving with daily dosing of Brightwell Aquatics Alkalin8.3 to bring up my aquarium's PH a point (it's at 7.3,) I also thought that I had lost one of my reef's most charismatic creatures - Captain Spook the Halloween Hermit Crab. Having found his dismembered exoskeleton, I mournfully declared him deceased, only to discover yesterday evening...
Tumblr media
...that he was just moulting! I can't tell you how happy I was! Also I had been dead convinced that my tank had reached the ripe ol' age of six months old by now so I was berating myself as a poor reef keeper, but looking back in my reef record Purrling Reef is actually only three months old. This made me feel a lot better about myself; it's okay that my reef is looking scruffy because it is young and my research has told me that pretty much all captive reefs go through a scruffy period!
Knowing this, my confidence has returned and I'm excited to try some more corals as well as hopefully introduce a sea urchin/living lawnmower to take care of all the turf algae which has grown rampant around the reef.❤️

Note
56, 58 & 65
56. What’s something about your writing that you pride yourself on?
As a fanfic author, I feel like I do a pretty good job of getting people's voices down.
58. What part of the writing process do you enjoy the most? (Brainstorming, outlining, writing, editing, etc)
Oooh, this is a toughy, particularly because I frequently do two or more of these things concurrently. Probably that-- multitasking because I've got ideas leaking out my ears is a sign I'm having a good time. Brainstorming is something I tend to do in quieter hours--falling asleep, taking a long drive, walking the dogs--and so that quiet contemplation feels really good, but nothing beats that "had a thought in the shower and had to come into my office dripping wet to write it down and now it's half an hour later and I'm still vibing" feeling, so I guess that's the actual writing?
Editing can be so satisfying when you take a section that just isn't quite right and fix it. Some days the words don't come out right, but you want to put something down anyway, and being able to go back and make it good always leaves me overly pleased with myself.
65. Tell us about what you’re most looking forward to writing – in your current project, or a future project
I have been considering going back to my Ajax fic for NaNo and publishing it on AO3 (though I imagine the audience for gen Iliad fanfic is... small). Can't stop thinking about Hesione (Teucer's mother) and I want to do her justice.
