The email addresses in this case have so much verismilitude. [email protected] is exactly what a small business owner not previously given to pouring out poetic sentiments would pick. [email protected] does make one idly wonder why Alison goes by a new name now.

You left marks on my body that are forever. I feel so embarrassed for having wanted and having dreamt that maybe I could have that forever from you, and then you gave me a different kind. The kind I told you I feared.

Same hat! I'm also deeply disturbed by those two scenes in particular (the one with Lonnie and Jonathan in his bedroom and Chrissy's Vecna vision).
Yes!!! Lonnie is always awful and unsettling, but, to me, never more threatening than he is in that scene. He's sleazy and callous and inappropriate in Indianapolis, but at least he's not really up to anything; I was worried for Jonathan, but more in terms of past experiences. And obviously Lonnie's intentions are selfish when he first finds Joyce, and the detail of the vodka is disconcerting, but he at least reasonably believes that Will is dead and monsters don't exist, so possibly he's not actively trying to screw Joyce over. But he is so incredibly brutal and manipulative in Jonathan's room...and, what's more, he's effective. He knows exactly what to say to make sure that Jonathan doesn't talk to Joyce about the Demogorgon--that Joyce is sick, that he can't depend on her, that he will make her sicker if he tries--and Jonathan doesn't say shit until Lonnie's long out of town and he's in a room with Hopper/Joyce/Nancy and he basically has to talk. I rewatched recently and realized just how early Joyce banishes Lonnie...and how much longer his presence hangs over Jonathan. It's really upsetting!
And Chrissy!!! I had my issues with S4, but her Vecna sequences do a great job of conveying the terror and shame and alienation that results when the people around you--even the people who are supposed to love and protect you the most--make you feel like your body is a Problem. I especially like/am fucked up by how Vecna-as-Laura alternates between "sweet" "helpful" passive-aggressive comments and overtly abusive, degrading language. (Because maybe Chrissy had to endure the passive-aggressive stuff in order to keep Laura from losing it and really laying into her, or maybe she just knew it was a possibility from people in general, but it's an awful way to live either way.) How she has no real privacy, how Laura knows her size intimately and will come into the dressing room, because her body isn't hers. And the banquet of rotting food, horrible in its abundance. The father who knows she's being humiliated but says nothing, because that's mother-daughter business and, you know, maybe he approves of it, because the whole world wants her to be thin.

The medical establishment is a wondrous thing.
"Damn you have a cyst under the skin of your ear that's been there for three to four years? Cool have a referral to an appointment. Oh what's that are they going to do anything at this appointment? Depends, are we counting 'giving you another fucking referral' as 'doing anything?' No? OK whatever take the antibiotics and wait for the referral you pariah. You filth. You fucking verminous WRETCH of a creatur- btw that'll be $270."
(The true horror of this post comes when you remember your Dale's Ramblings lore and realise I'm not even living in the United States. I'm very conscious that things could be worse, but God above they could still be better.)
